now bc of that one post abt zelda getting fridged whenever that one guy directs a zelda game im thinking abt tetra just getting turned to stone in ph and like. what would it have been like if she were an actual character in ph. what would she have done how would this have changed the story
#not gonna do a whole lot of tagging im just musing. if you wanna rb or reply with ideas thats great#im not the person to figure this out bc i dont actually care much abt tetra#not like oh i hate her but like. i only played ph and what i see of her beyond that has not endeared me to her#shes fine i just dont get it. ig cuz i didnt play ww but eh#cuz like. ok. pretty much the majority of phs plot relies on tetra having been turned to stone and fixing that#and me being the autistic little freak i am the psrt that also makes it hard for me to wonder what could happen if#tetra werent stone and that making the game better is like. ok what about linebeck and his arc#listen his arc is so fucking good and hes great and i dont think his arc would have been so good if link wasnt the character he was put wit#cuz link is a great foil and despite having minimal characterization has just the right personality to nudge linebeck along#cuz hes def part of what inspires some of that change in linebeck so idk what might have happened#if tetra was an active player interacting with him in ph too. cuz like idk most of the time when i see people#do stuff where they interact its usually tetra one upping linebeck or whatever and thars like. ok thats whar ciela does#maybe im reading into it too much and focusing on linebeck. idk how you couldve done and changed#the plot of ph to include tetra without just straight up rewriting the whole thing or putting link away#bc look me in the eyes. i do not think linebeck would have developed the way he did without having met link specifically#salty talks#idk i feel like linebecks arc is the best bit of story in ph so i want that to remain more or less intact bc thats where a lot of#the emotional stuff comes in at the end. his dialogue in the ghost ship battle and the final boss. its important#i dont think about tetra much cant you tell. so id leave this to someone who actually cares abt her as a character

im so tired of sterek fics where derek is like really mean or just aloof to stiles until they get together. do you have an recs where derek is just a sweetheart who's always soft on stiles even before they get together?
Here's softboi!derek.

let me take care of you by honestlydarkprincess

Stiles couldn’t do anything but stare at the alpha werewolf as he rambled while unloading the aforementioned supplies from the grocery bag to Stiles’ counter.
Nothing Stiles was seeing made sense.
Why was Derek here, in his apartment, with cold medicine and fucking soup?
Or, the one where Derek comes over to take care of a sick Stiles. They talk about their moms and confess some feelings. It's all very soft.

Derek's the only person Stiles can turn to.

I don’t make a good impression, I know,” Derek grumbles. “It’s fine. I get it.”
“Noooo,” Stiles groans in frustration, “but it isn’t fair because you’re not that guy, you’re not an asshole and you give cats punny names so they have a better chance at being adopted.”
“Who told you I named the cats?” Derek asks, his brows scrunching together in confusion.
“Scott,” Stiles smirks. “My favorite so far was Purrsephone.”
(Or the one in which Derek and Stiles both volunteer at an animal shelter, Derek works with cats and gives them punny names, Stiles works with the dogs, and misunderstandings ensue).
If It Means a Lot to You by Nier
(1/1 I 9,356 I Teen)
His mom had told him about mates in the past. Derek would often come home and just hear stories about how his parents had met and fallen for each other, how they had gotten together after learning about what they truly meant to one another.
He was a kid when she told him all this, so it didn't really make much sense to him at the time. All he could do was sit there on the edge of her bed, listening as his mother talked about how love is an act of courage. If you don't take that first step, then everything else is impossible too.
Set a Song for Me by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella)

“You did a favour for a stranger?” the sheriff asked, surprised. “You won’t even do a favour for me.”
“Your favours involve chocolate and salty snacks, damn straight I won’t do you any favours,” Stiles insisted, pointing an accusatory finger at his dad while leaning back against the counter, taking another large sip of coffee. “Some guy lost his phone and was calling it hoping someone would answer. That someone was me. He said he’d had some drinks and couldn’t come grab it right then, so we agreed to meet at the station this morning. I didn’t realize ‘this morning’ meant the ass crack of dawn.”
“It’s not the ass crack of dawn, that was at five thirty-seven, according to the weather app on my phone.”
Stiles let out a sarcastic laugh and flipped his dad off. The sheriff gave him a look, but he didn’t reprimand him, clearly able to tell Stiles was miserable.
Love At It's Purest by AbsolutelyNot2801
(12/? I 24,218 I Mature)
Sometimes Derek does things that makes Stiles think his crush is not completely one-sided, like gentle touches, soothing words and embraces like the one they were in that morning. And then he goes and does something stupid like getting a stupid girlfriend like Jennifer. It’s not because of Jennifer at all really. She’s lovely. But Stiles can’t help the hint of jealousy when he sees the loving gazes and soft, shy smiles.
And this is his step-brother he’s talking about. His step-brother! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Or a fic in which Stiles and Derek can’t help falling in love with each other. But there's a problem, they're step brothers. A fic with angst, feels and a happy ending.
The Spaz and the Sourwolf by TheRealDanniX
(9/9 I 24,674 I Teen)
When Stiles comes across something he shouldn't in the Preserve he ends up on four legs. Not that anyone in the Pack knows it's him. He's just hoping they can figure it out before anything else bad happens.
This Is Not Who I'm Supposed to Be by Anonymous
(11/11 I 24,932 I Teen)
After Stiles' friends get shot, the fox runs away from his home. He runs far enough that the white snow changes into green gras, and his white fur feels heavier than ever underneath the shining sun. Talia Hale and her family find him and she helps him turn back into human, something he hasn't been in years, and he has to learn how to be human again with the help from Derek. He realizes that life isn't easy. Not as human and not as a supernatural creature. Especially not when hunters are back in town.
shatter like glass, come apart in my hands by cosmicayan
(15/? I 47,107 I Mature)
The one in which Stiles goes missing for three months and then suddenly, out of nowhere, he turns up at the door of the Hale House, confusing himself, Derek, and literally everyone else.
Oh, yeah, and he has no memory of what happened to him (or, at least, no conscious memory).

So I know Representation came out today. And any good fan would wait a week before reviewing it as we still have episode 23 to watch.
GOOD THING IM A DEGENERATE
Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 episode 24 Representation
spoilers below
-So as expected, Chloé didnt stay mayor long. But Apparently Ms.Bustier is running for Mayor and might win
-Oh its the Fencing teacher/ guy who was Darkblade. Well clearly Ms.Bustier is going to win
-And Adrien and Kagami are a power couple? But Adrien is watching the news report while they are in London. Something seems VERY off
-Ah, Gabriel is behind it. And Adrien HATES it.
-"By letting your father decide your life and selling your story through a fake narrative as usual." DAMN Plagg holds no punches
-Plagg appologized though.
-Kagami is also pissed about it
-HEY ITS FELIX/ARGOS
-Wait ... is that really my chaotic son? HEARTS ON WINDOWS.
Tumblr media
-Thats adorable, WTF
-Okay so THEY got some development.
-Adrien deciding to just say f*** it. He is heading to paris and Telling Marinette he's chat noir!
-Marinette back in paris looks miserable. Poor baby girl. Also its a lovely dress.
-Marinette has been crying. I am going to kill Gabriel
-Marinette being strong for her friends to enjoy this dance. Thats really big of her.
-Unfortunately, Spotlight.
-Wait, how did Argos and Kagami get to Paris BEFORE Astrochat? Unless they left much earlier but even then. My bet is Argos made a sentimonster that would warp them places... but that seems like BS.
-KAGAMI KNOWS MARINETTE IS LADYBUG?! Since perfection. Damn.
-KAGAMI TOLD FELIX!?!?!?! FELIX?!?!?! Okay I am a bit salty about that
-OH S***! THEY KISSED. The Feligami stans are Eating today.
-Felix is dressed like Adrien? Oh I do not like where this seems to be going.
-And Marinette thought she saw Adrien and wants to go after him while her friends are thanking her for everything she's done. Way to ruin a good moment FELIX you ass!
-Side note, WHY is Marinette the only one in a dress? Like its a dance? Why couldnt everyone Have dressed up? Seriously, I know outfit renders are expensive. DID THE KITCHEN COST THAT MUCH?
-Marinette avoiding the Lesbian bee and accidentally interrupting the Bi artist and writer. Sure is Pride month in Paris.
-Okay this is just cruel. Marinette thinks she is having a break down over this. Side note. WHY ISNT ADRIEN ACTUALLY HERE YET? HE IS ASTROCHAT!
-Alya and Nino trying to comfort her. But she aint listening.
-Adrien and Kagami escaped and the parents are pissed
-Oh no Nathalie looks really bad right now. Poor thing. All she can do is watch videos of her true love Emilie
-He took the ring back, guess now that Nathalie is too weak to fight him. Which really brings up the question, WHAT HAPPENED in the last episode that Nathalie took such a turn.
-Gabriel is being a d*** as usual
-Nightormentor sounds like a cool name. And while I thought the color scheme is weird... its probably the best akumatized form Gabriel has taken. Sad but true
-AND OF COURSE RIGHT AS SHE LEAVES ASTROCAT ARRIVES. I know its plot convenience but thats bull s***
-"His father CANT have that much control of him" Oh if only you knew Nino
-And BOOM! Gabriel the bitch agreste arrives
-I am liking Rose so much recently. She is calling out EVERYONE
-So he basically has the powers of Sandboy mixed with Darkerowl
-the guy has the power to make you experience VERY intrusive thoughts. That is evil
-Chat noir is like "Hey ladybug gonna go beat up my father text me later"
-Dude Felix must be an Olympic speed walker
-Marinette is basically being nightormented without that bastard even being here. Felix, Kagami this is just a jerk move.
Duusu: "This is so sad" Felix: "Dont worry its for Our happy ending" Duusu: F*** yea lets keep it up
-Oh he made a sentimonster... wait. I know its not human but like a sentimonster MAKING sentimonsters. Feels even more f***ed up
-THEY ARE DOING A F***ING PLAY FOR HER!?
-OH MY GOSH! ITS THE STORY OF EMILIE AND AMELIE!
-Meanwhile, Chat noir is working through his daddy issues.
-Back to the play
-Oh this is interesting.
-Oh and we find out Felix's dad was a rich Cowboy. But also an asshole. (Oh right, this is a French Cartoon, thats why American's suck in this)
-Back to Adrien fighting his father
-This is Cathartic watching Chat noir beat Gabriel's ASS
-HE WAS GOING TO CATACLYSM HIS DAD! Adrien, my boy. Patricide adrien? Well Monarch is still alive, so I guess you think it wouldnt kill him. BTW, Monarch should have had ptsd from that.
-And Chat noir got hit, so his worst fear is... and cuts back to the play
-Oh the twins were infertile. Emilie returned to try and get medical help but still nothing.
-The peacock, that was the sentimonster reference
-Oh so THATS how Gabriel got Gorilla to guard adrien.
-Also yea, any doubt that they arent sentimonsters is dead now.
-ITS CHAT BLANC WITH BLUE HAIR!?
-Oh s*** that is f***ed up.
-"It will end if you give me your miraculous"
-"Take it." ADRIEN NO!
-Oh so thats why Felix's dad was an a**hole. Okay I will give this credit. That is something.
-Welp this explains why Felix might be a sociopath
-Felix revealing why he did what he did
-THE RESISTANCE! COMING IN CLUTCH
-THE TRAY!
-ALYA JUMPED ON HIS BACK.
-They got the akuma in a jar.
-Wait, Chat noir defeated an akuma without Ladybug. (sure he had outside help, but Ladybug has done that too). Good on him
-WELL S*** THAT WAS TRIPPY.
-Felix and Kagami asked for Marinette's help. so was that all the sentimonster doing so? I am lost
-Okay so, I may not LIKE exactly how they went about it. But I cant really hate them for what they did. They are just kids that want to pick someone they trust.
-Oh s***, Ladybug never cast miraculous cure. So Adrien has some perminant trauma from the fight with Nightormentor. He still sees the antichat visions (its not chat blanc, and its just reverse color pallet)
-Chat noir left. before he could tell her. Cause the nightmare messed with him
-WAIT DID TOMOE AND GABRIEL JUST LOCK THEIR CHILDREN IN STERILE ROOMS? WTF!
_________________________________________________________
Okay! This episode was A LOT.
Well there is no denying Sentimonster theory. Its confirmed. Its done. 100% GUARANTEE NO MONEY BACK.
It did explain a LOT about Felix and Adrien.
So I am still iffy on how it was handled.
Now this DOES NOT justify Felix's Actions. He was still an a**hole. And Kagami shouldnt have told Felix. Marinette is Ladybug. That was NOT her secret to tell.
BUT the play that explained what happened was very well done. It explained a LOT about the Graham de Vanily family and Felix's a**hole father.
I will say that I hated how tortured Marinette was during this. Felix and Kagami could have done something less cruel to lure her there.
I also greatly enjoyed Chat noir vs Nightormentor. very good catharsis and we have Adrien going through some additional mental trauma, inflicted by his father (I wouldnt call it Ironic, more of EXPECTED)
I give it 7.5/10
I will say its the most I have enjoyed the second half of this season since Emotion.

Eres Mía
Disclaimer: I dont have an excuse for poor grammar and spelling besides the fact that i slept in almost every spelling/writing class since i was in 4th grade up until i graduated. I also don’t double check my writing after im done. And this song has like no big impact on the story, its just that i was listening to this as i wrote.
You felt so guilty for the way you texted your ex, Miguel O’ Hara. You wanted him for lustful reasons but you had a boyfriend that you truly loved, or not, you weren’t quite sure if you were in denial about being in love with Miguel or you were just bored that you subconsciously decided to gaslight yourself into liking him? Either way, you did feel some way towards him and your current boyfriend figured it out when he went through your phone…
“Listen, You shouldn’t have even went through my phone in the first place! Dónde está la confianza en la pinche relación?!” You yelled at your current boyfriend who had your phone in his hand. You weren’t mad that he went through your phone, you were mad that you got caught and were ashamed and embarrassed.
“Oh shut your trap, Y/n. I had suspicions so I had every damn right to go through it! And quit with your Spanish shit talking. You know more than anyone that I can’t understand shit you say!” Your boyfriend yelled back as he put your phone in his pocket as he stood a bit far from you. You guys had been yelling at each-other non-stop for a few minutes so things were getting heated.
“Be quiet, I can talk how ever i want! Just give me back my phone! We both know how this ends, you give it back, you get salty and leave for a few days before coming back to me again!” You were right, you guys always argued about whatever and he left for days on end and while he did, you and Miguel always did something that you both didn’t regret, unless you got caught.
“Oh, fuck you! Have your phone back you skank! Maybe your ex will dick you down again and make you forget about me like always. Im leaving.” Your boyfriend said as he threw your phone towards the carpet underneath and grabbed his jacket, keys and left your house in a rush. You were a bit upset but that quickly died down as soon as you grabbed your phone from the floor.
You opened it up and decided to do what you do best, talk to your favorite ex. You start texting Miguel hoping he would answer.
*messages start here*
You: Miguellll, guess what happened? 😓
Miguel 😘♥️: your boyfriend left again?
You: mhm, for such a dumb reason too. He is just so insecure, he thinks im going to leave him for you! All you and me do is fuck…
Miguel 😘♥️: aw, pero corazón, pensé que si lo harías? Last time we had sex, i could’ve sworn that in between all those whines and moans, you were questioning why we ever broke up and you even said you might consider dating me again?
You: jaja, que gracioso. This is serious, he might actually leave me this time. If he does, im never going to find anyone that will love me as much as he did~! Me voy a morirrrrr ☹️💔
Miguel 😘♥️: okay, from what I understand, your actual boyfriend caught you talking to me and he figured out we were fuck buddies and he got mad at you and left and you’re upset because you got caught?
You: yeah
Miguel 😘♥️: I only call you a whore in bed but it looks like you really are…
You: only yours~!
Miguel 😘♥️: mhm, toda mía, sólo para que yo te use. Don’t be surprised if one day I sneak into your house and make you fully mine again infront of your boyfriend.
You: you sure im only yours? I could be having other guys’ dicks inside me for all you know 🤫
Miguel 😘♥️: no creo, corazón. Ningún hombre te puede joder de la manera que yo lo hago, correcto?
You: cállate, pendejo. 😒
Miguel 😘♥️: I love you too. Im just saying that your boyfriend surely wouldn’t mind seeing his slutty girlfriend getting fucked in every position by spiderman himself.
You: as much as i want that, no!
Miguel 😘♥️: Aw coño, que triste. Maybe I can fuck you so hard that you finally get back with me again and become allll mine again.
You: Miguel, we agreed that we wouldn’t get back together because we broke up for a reason. All though, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea, you can always try~
Miguel 😘♥️: thats right, you know that im irreplaceable and that you’re all mine. Why don’t I come over now and give you a reason to get back with me?
You: pinche perro 🙄 you can try to prove it to me but it won’t work!
Miguel 😘♥️: sure, It wont work.
*messages end here*
After that conversation, you knew the answer to your question, you definitely wanted each other back, not only is the sex great but you can definitely see yourself dating him again. Hes so much more better than your current boyfriend. What ever made you think that you could replace Miguel, needs to leave your head right now.
Author’s note: guys this is so OOC for Miguel and ik bcs I have only ever seen the only version of Miguel which is movie miguel where he tweakin hella hard over a 15 yr old so i really have no idea how he would be as a romantic partner.

What experience I would give as a statement to Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London? Statement fucking begins...
Summer after GCSEs, whole fam picks up and goes to India for 3 weeks
Listen we are hubristic. We literally go from Britain to Turkey to Delhi airport, to a different airport, to Banaras in a taxi, to Siliguri in a sleeper train, to Kalimpong in a car, back to Siliguri in a van, then to Kolkata in a sleeper bus, to Dhakha, Bangladesh by plane, to my grandparents place in Sylhet by car, then back to Dhakha, then back to Delhi, then back to Turkey and then back to Britain.
Tell me we didn't have at least one entity on our side.
None of us got ill. We had a 6 yr old with us. She didn't complain one bit. I'm 100% sure I blacked out for the majority of it. No other explanation than paranormal.
Those sales assistants in shops have to be fucking avatars of the web or something the way they fucking smile and you until you've blinked and you've bought 3 lehengas and she's like very good ma'am
I met my grandma's sister who looks exactly like my grandma, speaks the exact same way, acts the exact same way. It was so uncanny I could've sworn she just was her. Probably very normal explanation (genetics) but we can never be sure.
I made friends with a hand sized spider in a bathroom by singing "Mr spider, please don't kill me" in the tune of Mr sandman to it every day. It disappeared on the last day. (giving spiral)
I got myself an Indian accent. I am not Indian. (Most of my family is from Bangladesh, I was born there) I am not good at accents. I'm not sure how this transpired (could be some elaborate sociolinguistics explanation but I'm gonna go with paranormal)
We went on a massive family day out with cousins to a river near the mountains and we all had a great time until this little menace of a cousin literally got carried away by a current and we were terrified until one of my uncles literally grabbed him by the leg and yanked him out right before he would've gotten completely carried away. I don't think that's pure luck, personally.
My aunts staged an intervention for me about my posture (Not supernatural, Im just salty)
My dad successfully convinced some strangers who sat next to him on the plane that the reason me and my siblings spoke such good English was that we went to an English medium school. When pressed, he came up with the most elaborate story ever. He gave them a random school we went to, told them we were his boss' kids and he was taking us home, bullshitted a company and then when one of them went oh my dad is a higher up in that company, he says oh didn't he retire recently and the guy goes yeah he did! We are completely oblivious of this story, until he leans over and tells us not to call him dad for the rest of the plane journey. If that's not fucking Stranger behaviour then what is.
We get home, exhausted out of our minds and we realise we can't find our fucking front door key. We pile into the back garden and proceed to search through the entirety of our bags, trouser pockets, pockets within bags, we're all on the verge of tears, I'm catatonic, my little sister has picked up a stick and is slowly peeling it, my other sister is the only one actually looking and my dad is staring at the luggage, as if it had grown legs and was doing a little dance right before his eyes. We do find the keys after 20 minutes. We never mention this again. That's fucking paranormal shit right there don't even try to convince me otherwise. Michael the distortion was fucking with us.
Statement ends... (Although that's definitely not even half the shit that happened)
Watch Jonathan "Jarchivist" Sims crumble beneath my experiences. Hes so bamboozled that he forgets to try and discredit me. I bring him a packet of laddoos and some aachar.

Tumblr media
I blinked and slowly woke up, seeing a wooden ceiling.
My head felt heavy and my thoughts foggy.
Did I fall off the mast?
“Whhuh?”
I tried to sit up but a somewhat webbed hand forced my head back onto the pillow.
“Please stay on the bed for now, we don't know how exactly you will react to Rimkir root so don't move”
What root? And reacting to it?
My vision was still blurry and my head foggy but I felt like I was in the wrong place.
“Wha hapn?”
I felt extremely confused, the last thing i could recall was, uhh..
Oh right, sitting on top of the mast and having a FUCKING Panic attack!
I tried to sit up but the half webbed hands shoved me down again.
“I said to stay put! Does nobody ever listen to medical advice? You're just as bad as Ronan!”
I blearily looked up at the person I could now identify as Imik.
And I had almost forgotten that Ronan was also somewhere in the ship.
“Wha? Did he wake up? Wait what happened to me? Why am I not on the mast anymore?”
Imik looked tired, at least from what I could see and I suddenly felt bad.
It wasn't their fault, they shouldn't have to deal with my shit.
“He woke up a few hours ago, He's better now but tried to walk around right away.
I ended up tucking the blankets so tight that he can't move anymore.
As for you, well you had a pretty bad panic attack.
We ended up sedating you so we could get you down from Jamie's nest, which was kind of a logistical nightmare.
Do you feel any better now?”
Sedating me? Was that what the sweet smelling thing had been?
“Uh, im better now, my brain foggy tho”
Imik absentmindedly nodded and then bent down to fetch something from the floor.
He then handed me a big glass filled with clear water.
“Drink something, I'll have to go and see if Ronan managed to wiggle out of the bed, but you can just yell if you need anything else”
With that he left and I was alone in a small room that definitely belonged to someone else.
There were knicknacks strewn about and half a shirt looked out of a chest that had been shoved into a corner, making it look like the wooden thing was sticking its tongue out.
I stared at the glass, wondering whose room I was in, judging by the sizing of things it definitely wasn't Jamie’s, if they even had a normal room aside from the nest thing.
Whatever, I smelled the water to make sure it wasn't salty before slowly drinking it.
My brain still felt a little foggy but compared to the panic attack I preferred it.
I laid back on the bed and just stared at the ceiling for a while.
All of this sucked, like a LOT.
Man, I wanted home!
I kept laying there for half an hour feeling extremely bored.
At least until I heard footsteps on the other side of the apparently rather thin wooden wall if the sound of voices was anything to go by.
“...-anic attacks really suck, what are we supposed to do if he gets another one?” “Well for one not let him climb the mast again! What was the big idea for that anyway?” “It wasn't my Idea! I think he wanted to climb it out of curiosity!”
“And you let him? No wait, I bet you even taunted him for every mistake he made while climbing!”
“So what?”
“Guys, calm down”
“So what? SO WHAT? You keep egging people on! On the stupidest of things! I swear one of these days someone is going to jump in an underwater volcano because of you!”
“I assume im being ignored for the sake of anger once again”
“No, that's just not true! Unlike most people I've met, I know when to stop!” “Really? You do? What about the time you-‽  MMPh!”
“That was one time! You're really gonna harp on THAT Forever?”
“Jamie take your foot out of Imiks face please”
Okay what was going on out there?
I stood up and went to the door, opening it to a rather comedic sight.
Jamie had their clawed foot in Imiks face and squished his cheeks while Imik gripped Jamie's arm and tried to push them away to no avail.
Also I was pretty sure the position they were in was only possible due to Jamies weird legs seeing as they were both rather contorted and tried to strangle each other.
They froze when tha saw me in the position they were in, with Jamie half of the ground, foot in Imiks face and Imik trying to wrestle Jamie away.
Also Akeem was behind them.
Both Jamie and Imik looked at me.
“Ignore this!” “Didn't I tell you to rest?”
Came it from them in unison.
“It's a bit hard to rest when you guys are so loud, what are you even doing?”
They let go of each other, Jamie somehow not falling over.
“Nothing important!”
They said at the same time only to be suddenly grabbed and lifted off the ground by Akeem, leaving their legs dangling out of reach of the floor.
“Apologies Donovan, we will stop bothering you now”
I just stared at him for a second.
Then Jamie wriggled around and started scratching his face with their clawed feet, creating the sound of cat claws on a tile floor.
Despite the assault on his face he didn't even flinch, or blink.
Must be nice to be able to not give a single fuck about that.
“Uh, okay? I do feel better now, how's Ronan?”
Imik pointed two doors down the hall before he and Jamie were dragged away by Akeem.
Jamie still trying to scratch his face unsuccessfully.
Well, that was weird.
I walked to the door Imik had pointed at and knocked softly.
I felt better now and just laying around was not doing me any favors, Might as well see how Ronan is doing.
“Ronan? Are you awake?”
I heard some rustling sounds and a dull thump, What the hell was he doing?
“Door is unlocked! You can come in!”
Of course the door was unlocked, scatterbrained as he was.
I slowly opened it and saw Ronan lying on the bed, only half under the covers and with his feet on the headrest.
So the sounds I had heard were him jumping back into bed.
He looked at me confusedly.
“Oh, uh, Donovan? You're… smaller”
Oh right, last he saw of me was when I turned Giant to transport him out of the Eel pit.
“Yep, it's me, how are you?
The eel bites looked nasty, do you feel any better?”
He nodded despite the weird angle he was laying in.
“I feel better! Still incredibly sore though, and there is one nasty bite on my lower arm! Look at it!”
He held his arm up and began undoing the bandages.
I looked on for a second in shock before swiftly walking up to him and stopping him by holding his free arm away from the bandages.
“I believe you! I think you should let the bandages stay on, if you're so keen on showing me you can just get me the next time you change them okay?”
He looked disappointed but relented luckily.
“Sooo how come you're smaller? And two legged? OH! Can you shapeshift into anything else? And how do you do it? Can you use magic? If so, what kind?”
I was taken aback a little by the wall of questions he threw at me.
“Can you maybe ask one question at a time? I barely remember the first one you asked!”
He stopped talking and blinked confusedly.
“Oh sorry! So should I start again but slower?”
I looked at him with a deadpan face.
“As far as i know you should be resting, and i'm pretty sure i heard you running around, i just came in here to see how you're doing”
“Oh come on! I'll be fine! Ain't the worst that's happened to me! And I was just at the window! I wanted to let Imugi know I'm better!”
As nice as wanting to tell his Sea Serpent that he was okay now was he really shouldn't run around with what was essentially a lot of small lightning damage.
I pinched the bridge of my nose, still not feeling all that good myself yet.
“Five questions, but then you have to promise to rest as long as Akeem says”
Akeem seemed the most level headed out of them so this seemed reasonable to me, besides I did not want Ronan to injure himself further.
His face seemed to light up at the prospect of getting to ask Five questions though and I felt like I'd regret that soon enough.
“Okay! Deal! Soo first question uhhh,
OH! How many forms can you shapeshift into?”
At least he picked an easy one for the first question.
“Three, the fuzzy green thing you saw, which is called an Ardua by the way, the Giant one and this human sized one, that's all”
“What? Only that? Man and here I was hoping for a cool dragon or something!
So wait, I just remembered you barely ate anything as the… Ardua you called it? Do the plants on your back do photosynthesis? And can you use their energy?
Question number two, and quite an observant one, especially for a scatterbrained guy like him.
“Yes to both of those, like plants i can get get energy from sunlight if i'm in that form, which is pretty practical”
His eyes went wide and he started fiddling with the blanket.
“Ohhh! Man that must be awesome to not need to eat!
If Imik didn't remind me I'd forget it sometimes!
Okay next question, number three right?
Your Giant form looked really tall! Any idea how tall exactly?”
How tall? Well he was in luck that had just been very recently measured.
“According to Jamie who measured me out of Boredom i'm forty five feet tall, no idea if that's accurate though”
“Forty five??? Fuck that's really tall! And I doubt Jamie made a mistake in measuring, they helped in the past measuring things in the past and it was always pretty accurate, so it's probably correct!”
So Jamie was right about me being forty five feet tall,  good to know that I was garbage at estimating my own height.
“Okay question four! Uhhh, what's your preferred form? Like the fuzzy one? Or the Giant one? Which one?”
My favorite form? Hmmm, each had their advantages and drawbacks.
The Ardua form looked scary and had no thumbs, the Giant one was strong but didn't fit in a house, The human form did fit in a house but was comparatively weak.
“Uhh to be honest no idea, they all have their advantages and drawbacks like, the fuzzy one does not have thumbs, the Giant one is too big for a lot of things, and the human sized one is weak compared to the other two.
I guess i like the Ardua form for sleeping though, in that form even sleeping on the floor is somewhat comfy”
He nodded wildly and seemed to think for a moment.
“Okay, Question number five, How do you shift? Is it like magic? Or more Biologically? I've seen Merfolk that can change their tail into legs and back! Is it like that?”
Of course that's what he HAD to ask, ugh, but I told him I'd answer five questions so that's what i was gonna do, not like he could use the bracelet anyway.
I held up the arm with the bracelet and tapped it.
“Don't tell anyone but this thing lets me shift, and no you can't use it, it's locked to the genetic code or whatever Oakley called it, meaning if anyone without the necessary genes puts it on they will die.
So do NOT under any circumstances put it on, you hear me?” He nodded, gaze transfixed on the reflective material of the bracelet.
“That is so cool!
As soon as we're back to base you have to show me all the forms!”
Well, that went better than expected, at least he wasn't asking to wear it himself but maybe the warning did come across to his brain properly.
“I'm fine with that, the sooner we get there the sooner you get to poke at the forms and the sooner I can get back home!” He nodded frantically, nearly tearing holes in his blanket with his nails.
“Oh if you help me to the window I can tell Imugi to go extra fast! And tell her I'm fine! I didn't quite make it to the window before you came in…”
He admitted and I rolled my eyes, this guy's self preservation was Garbage at best.
“Alright, just don't complain to me when your wounds reopen!”
“Oh don't worry! I have a high pain tolerance!”
That comment made me think back to Fable,  the poor guy also had no idea what happened to me.
God, I missed him as well.
“That does not sound as reassuring as you think!”
He just shrugged and I helped him stand up by slinging one of his arms over my shoulder, idly noting he was about the same height as me.
Then I slowly maneuvered him to be right next to the window which he immediately opened.
“IMUGI!”
There was an excited whistle click sound and suddenly Imugi was in front of the bullseye shaped window which was too small to let her fit her head in.
Not that she didn't try tough.
Ronan just stuck his hand out instead.
“I'm fine girl, and I'd be even better the faster we reach home.
Can you be a dear and bring us to Kariba Island as fast as possible?”
Imugi made a weird sound that was a mix of chirping and whistling and dived under and out of sight again.
Only a moment later there was a tug on the boat and I could literally feel how we went faster.
I held onto Ronan so he wouldn't fall over.
“Man she's fast! And she's towing the entire boat!” Ronan laughed at that.
“Yes! She can hold that tempo for quite some time as well! You should see her zoom around without being tied to the boat! I even made a saddle! I keep falling off though so I gotta tinker on it still!”
I wasn't sure what surprised me more, that the Sea serpent could hold this tempo for an entire day or that Ronan made an entire fucking saddle for her.
Okay the saddle somehow surprised me less, and even less that he still had to tinker on it.
“A saddle? Really? I hope you can hold your breath well then!
Now let's get you back to bed”
He grinned and nodded, half hanging over my shoulder like a wet cat.
“Fine by me! A deal is a deal! And I got to tell Imugi I'm fine so that's even better!”
I gently guided him back to bed and set him on it properly, not the weird upside down thing he did before.
“Oh before you go! Could you hand me a book to read? Its so fucking boring just laying around!”
While talking he pointed at a closet that was built into the wall of the room with lockable drawers.
The keys for it were on a hook right next to it that was bent so much the ship would have to be upside down for them to fall off.
I took the keys and opened the drawer he had pointed at, seeing a total of ten books, picking two random ones I chucked them on the bed where Ronan immediately grabbed them like a possessive drake.
“Thanks! Finally less boredom! Also I hope when we get there we'll find a way to get you back to your friends!”
I stopped for a moment where I was in the doorway.
“Thank you for helping, now just focus on getting better Imugi had looked so sad when you got Injured!”
That seemed to surprise him.
“She did? Ough, I gotta apologize for that later to her!”
“Not only her, Jamie, Akeem and Imik where also worried as fuck!”
With that i left the room and closed the door behind me.
Man, what a chaotic bunch, but at least we were closer to that Kariba island now.
Maybe I should ask them if they got a map of the island?
Knowing what it looked like might be nice.
On the way back to the deck I ran into Jamie, who immediately grabbed my arm with one of their bird leg claws, and dragged me along.
Man they were strong for someone so small, first getting dragged into the nest and now I was forced to keep up while they only hopped forwards on one leg.
“You GOTTA see what Island we are going past right now! And it's just the right season too!”
Island? Right season? What?
“Wait a second, what do you mean?
Why are you dragging me to see an island?
Are we going to stop there?”
They just shook their heads, dragging me onto the deck and towards the railing.
“Nah, we ain't gonna stop! So that's why you have to look now!”
Well, I had no idea what this was about if we weren't even stopping at that island but I still looked if only to stop Jamie from digging their claws in even more.
The island we were sailing past was VERY colorful and looked to be completely overgrown by every flower possible in this climate, giving it an almost unreal appearance.
“How many flowers are there? And how come they all grow there?”
Jamie just grinned widely, showing a pair of dull fangs.
“Ha! I knew the guy with plants on his back would like this!
Apparently some odd years ago a ship that was supposed to bring lots of rare flower seeds to who knows where got stranded on the island and broke in two!
The seeds were just left there and at some point started growing!”
All the flowers were from a single shipwreck?
Wow, I was almost tempted to ask them to stop the boat so I could try and get some for Robin but that would mean wasting even more time.
Suddenly a webbed hand grabbed the railing from outside,  heaving the attached body onboard again.
It was, of course, Imik.
He also had a little burlap bag slung over his shoulder.
“I found some seeds that were waterproof packaged! Part of the wreck is actually still there! Just underwater!”
Man Imik had to be a fast swimmer to get there and back while we drifted past it, the island wasn't really all that big even.
He then reached into the bag and tossed me a little thumb sized box made out of bronze, shaking it I could hear lots of little things hit against each other.
“Here! You can have one! I doubt those contain any plant that's not already growing on the island!”
“Oh, uh, thank you, I actually know someone that would love this!”
He grinned, which showed a mouth full of shark-like teeth, and gave a thumbs up.
“Great! I myself am quite bad at keeping plants alive for longer than a week anyway!”
He then speed walked away to the door into the ship,  his webbed feet making a weird plap, plap noise as he walked.
Yep, chaotic bunch.
I stowed the thumb sized box away in the little bag that already contained the fossilized sea star for Fable.
Looking back at the island I noticed Jamie had used their claws to hold onto the railing and squat down like a bird would.
They really looked like a chicken right now with the way they sat on the wood.
I decided not to mention it and instead watch the flower island until it was out of sight.
It was really pretty, man I wished my friends could see this, Especially Robin! He'd love this!
At some point Jamie walked off,  going back up the mast to be the lookout again.
The island was out of sight now, Imugi was really fast, and strong, so i had nothing to do now.
I had already checked in on Ronan, Jamie was back up the mast and I was absolutely NOT climbing that again.
Maybe I could ask Akeem or Imik for something to do? Oh wait, Imik wanted to show me how to properly hold my breath for a really long time!
Then we got interrupted by the chaos on the eel island and kinda forgot.
Not to mention the fact I had a panic attack.
Yep, not fun.
I walked through the door I had seen Imik disappear into and found myself in a room filled with shelves and boxes, all nailed or screwed down so they would fall over should the ship be hit by a bigger wave.
The shelves themself were so constructed that they had drawers instead of bare wood to place things on, and every single one was lockable in a way that would prevent them from sliding open unprompted.
Quite an architectural feat in my opinion, and considering that Imik mentioned he was a treasure hunter they were probably filled with various things he brought up from the sea floor.
“Looking for something specific?”
I startled and turned around, coming face to face with the Merling.
“Oh, uh, kinda? You said you would show me how to hold my breath for a really long time?”
“Oh right, I did! Good timing, I was just getting bored again after stashing my new stuff!”
I was then dragged along for the second time today, but this time I was led to a more open space in the middle of the room which had a carpet nailed down on it that seemed to be made out of seaweed.
Remembering last time I had gotten a short instruction I sat down on the carpet while Imik did the same opposite of me.
“Okay where were we last time? Like what did I already tell you?”
“Uh, you told me to like, calm down and slow my heartbeat?”
He nodded, at least I had gotten that right.
“Apnea is about expanding the capacity of your lungs.
At a depth of 30 meters, the lungs are only 25% of their actual size, so With diaphragmatic and lateral lung breathing, more air can be inhaled!
And if you slow your heart down and are calm your body uses less air!
Fantastic isn't it?”
I had understood maybe half of what he was saying, but he'd probably show me anyway.
Yep. I was right in that as he started to explain how to control one's breathing among some other things.
And thus the day was spent learning how to do various breathing exercises.
While unusual it wasn't as boring as one would have thought, At one point I had to hold my breath while Imik tried to get me to laugh or poked at me.
Apparently that was to make sure I wouldn't spit all the air out should a fish startle me.
While probably true he seemed to have a good time with it, and it was a little funny
He had also been positively surprised when I told him about the only breathing thing I knew, to calm someone from a panic attack.
He immediately jotted it down in a random notebook.
We continued with that until the door was slammed open and Jamie waltzed in.
“AY! Dinner time you idiots!”
Already?, though, looking actually outside showed the sun was way lower than before.
We really had spent all day with the Apnea diving thing huh?
Well, i did feel like i made some progress, like being able to hold my breath for about seven minutes now, Maybe more, we didn't have a clock.
Whatever, maybe now they had something to eat that wasn't sandwiches.
No they did not, and by now the bread was either stale or soggy again, somehow.
I politely declined under the guise that since I had plants on my back in Ardua Form I didn't need to eat anyway.
That and I didn't want to use more of their resources than I already did.
And so I got out of eating stale sandwiches, for now at least.
“Are you not a fan of sandwiches?” Asked Ronan then, gnawing on his own rather stale bread with what was probably marmalade.
“Well, depends, and not everyday for sure, don't you have anything else on board?
Since I had gotten onto the boat the only thing they had to eat were those sandwiches, which couldn't be healthy.
“Well, the dude that cooks had to stay home cuz he broke his ribs!”
Interjected Jamie nonchalantly while grabbing another bread.
“What?” “Yeah! The crane we have on board was getting some heavy box up and somehow slammed him into the wall! Apparently the pressure of being squished between the crate and the wall just snapped some of his Bones a few months ago!
Good thing we know a pretty okay doc!”
I was just staring at Jamie who told a story like that completely nonchalantly.
Yeah, these guys had a few screws loose, maybe even used them to keep the boat together.
“Oh, well, I hope he gets well soon?”
I said awkwardly, not really knowing what to do in such a situation.
“Eh, Yamet is fine, next time he can go back on the ship as well! I bet he's incredibly bored though!”
At least that was nice, but man these guys were crazy.
Oh well, better not say anything about it.
Though if they made such jokes this Yamet guy was probably fine.
Probably.
The only somewhat calm dinner of stale bread and possibly moldy marmalade was interrupted by a loud boom and an impact that shook the entire ship.
What? What was happening?
The entire crew had already sprung up and hasted to a variety of places, Jamie back up the mast, Akeem and Imik got entire fucking Cannons.
Ronan was already nowhere to be seen and I had no idea where he went.
Hopefully back inside as it appeared we were under attack.
Not really knowing what to do, I walked over to where Akeem and Imik were, already stuffing a cannonball into the cannon to fire back.
Not knowing how to operate a cannon or even how to help, I tried to get a glance on what was attacking us, which turned out to be another ship.
Pirates? As far as I knew they were a big enough Problem that Rikaad had wanted to deal with it himself.
Worse was that the enemy boat was bigger than ours and probably had more people.
Imik and Akeem fired their cannon and managed to hit the low side of the enemy ship.
Unfortunately we got hit again, the ship going very lopsided for a moment and I could hear a weird screech.
Looking up I saw it was Jamie, who was upside down and held on to the outermost piece of the mast with a clawed foot.
Oh fuck, they'd fall in at any moment!
Leaving the experts to man the cannon, I ran to the other side of the ship, only seeing out of the corner of my eye that apparently Imugi had rammed the other boat, causing some of the men on board to freak out at being attacked from a sea monster.
Man, I hoped they wouldn't shoot at Imugi.
Unlikely though.
I was positioned at the railing, still not anywhere near Jamie and thus not able to catch them as they fell, another cannonball impacting at the same time and causing the crane to fall overboard where Jamie was just moments ago.
Being horribly reminded of what had happened to me not that long ago when the mast crashed onto my own head I jumped in after Jamie, shifting while jumping and inhaling as much air as I could, doing as Imik had shown me.
I dived down after Jamie, seeing that one of their legs had gotten tangled in a rope from the crane and they were desperately trying to get it loose.
I managed to swim after them right as they went past an underwater cliff, the top part of the crane scraping against the rock with an unpleasant noise.
Not having thumbs currently I simply bit into the crane, not like it would be usable anymore anyway.
Jamie got loose, kicking their thin legs which were definitely not made for swimming and tried to swim up, which thanks to having so thin legs was agonizingly slow.
Then the crane which had been scraping against the rock knocked a boulder loose, which in turn bumped into more rocks, freeing them and causing an underwater landslide.
Jamie got hit square in the chest by one and was dragged even deeper down as the rocks went towards the bottom of the ocean and I dived after them, taking them into my mouth due to a lack of thumbs.
Their legs were still sticking out and my mouth was filled with water, not allowing them to breathe either as one of the bigger rocks hit my back, pushing me deeper underwater and ending up trapping me on a shelf like rock formation as more of the rockslide buried my lower half under it.
Fuck, now i was trapped with no air,
and even worse was that Jamie had no air either.
But I had a little bit of air, maybe I could share?
Tentatively I pressed Jamie against my palate, pushing out as much water as I could and then let my mouth fill with some of my own air.
I felt them cough and while maybe a bit stale the air was still better than nothing.
But now what? I was trapped and there was no way for Jamie to get back up without drowning.

AU: undercover!jeanist as a villain/vigilante during the afo arc, when hawks 'kills' him (ignoring canon for a hot second) and gives a quirk-duplicated body to dabi to make a nomu.
here is my list of Things That Happen during this, done with grammar for reading purposes
Undercover!Jeanist dyes his hair black with silver streaks, and goes by the villain name 'Kugutsu'. He goes for a punk-ish vibe, and his fake quirk is 'Marionette Strings'- which are strings that are tied to his joint areas. Like an actual marionette. 'Kugutsu' can control the strings and make them longer. The strings themselves are a type of wire (which jeanist can control with his quirk). His face also gains an uncanny valley type of look.
During his time undercover, Jeanist keeps a downloaded file of Shinya's (albehwkjanc whats the word for this) missed phonecall message. He listens to it and tells pre-recorded Edgeshot how he is. This can be taken in both an angst and whump directions.
Meanwhile, Edgeshot is both
a) worried
b) CONVINCED that the hpsc is hiding Tsunagu from him.
Hawks is not helping with this.
And then Dabi's Dance (aka: Theater Kid Reveals His Parentage, On Live TV, To The Unsuspecting People Of Japan) happens! And the reveal that Hawks handed over Jeanist's (thought to be dead) body over to the LOV! Which- we all know what happens to dead bodies in the hands of the Good Doctor, don't we?
So does Shinya. Our fav ninja goes into denial and grieving. He's hoping for the best, but also emotionally preparing himself for the worst. He's also PISSED at Hawks, who honestly I think should be included in this. Hawks is also going through some shit. All the characters in this AU are going through it at one point or another.
Meanwhile, Undercover!Jeanist is going Through Some Shit. He's gathered some [insert useful information here], but at some costs. He's being kinda dehumanized here, due to his villain/vigilante name meaning 'puppet'. And his whole strings thing. Emotional hurts are happening. Physical hurts too, since he's got no doctor or medic. Any wounds he gets, he's on his own.
Skip to the high end nomus, because this is honestly something i've been working on for an entire, very long, car ride and I don't think anon asks can handle that much words.
Edgeshot is canonically at the raid team! And I have no idea if he fights the nomus or not, but... nya
He sees one thin nomu. It has muscle threads extending from it's fingers. And it can speak. The first thing it says to him is: "...Shinya?"
And it's got Tsunagu voice.
-story anon
im ending this here because i honestly need to sleep soon, lmao. hello again, eclair!! :D
Ehehe hello again :D!!
THIS!
THIS IS THE GOOD SHIT RIGHT HERE.
I cannot express enough how much I love all of this.
I’d give all my thoughts but I currently no energy no brain, just happy about this- so just know that I think this is absolutely *chefs kiss* immaculate and is precisely the fuel for my angsty lil brain that it needs >:)
But also, my dear friend, you must stop feeding me ideas for new aus, my list is long enough as it isss!!! I already have a nomu!Jeanist au, brain shouldn’t be allowed another it’ll explode!!!! /j /lh (please never stop sending these in, I am absolutely in love with these thoughts)
On another note, this reminded me of a thought I had about a year(I think?) ago, before all the manga stuff happened, and I was in serious denial about bj disappearing….I had a thought that was “okay but what if the body was a fake and Tsunagu actually went into hiding and made a fake name with different hair and different attitude”……which is basically exactly this!!! Which I thought was a nice lil thing :)
Tumblr media
I found the note I made!^^ (ignore the fact that I didn’t like hawks much at this point bc I was so salty at the fact he “killed” bj- I love the lil bird man now-)

Attack on Titan thoughts
last night i saw the finale of attack on titan and shared some meandering thoughts on the series on twitter, but i'm reposting it here because twitter is dead and sucks.
spoilers, of course
---
man.... maaaaaan.... is that the ending everybody complained about and said ruined the series? really? that was about as perfect and justifiable an ending as anyone could hope for. aaaaaaaaa im gonna slap someone
god... GODDDD... SLAP SLAP
alright i'm gonna use this thread to wax thoughts on the series
---
so i remember when this series started, it was a huge ass phenomenon. you could not escape it. but personally i wasn't entirely on board
i watched the first season, i got the appeal enough, yadda yadda giant freaky naked guys. i didn't hate it, but just found it kinda dry and unengaging. there was a vague horror aspect which i wasn't particularly into, some dry politics, and that was about it.
so the fanaticism and meme-ry was just something i witnessed from the sidelines. then like... years went by without a season 2, and it all just kinda died down mostly. (if i was clever i would say it was... rumbling... below the surface.... but i don't feel like it)
anyways that 2nd season finally dropped, and it kinda felt like an instant difference? like it finally felt like the story was gaining traction. it still had the mystery thing going, but it also kinda stared focusing more on character relations.
so the 2nd season is when i finally got on board with the series and engaged with the plot and characters. ... of course, the 2 leading characters of the season end up completely benched soon after, which i'm still kinda salty about.
the rest is a rollercoaster, i dunno.
---
but eventually the series swaps to a new production studio, which i was a little concerned about, cause Wit did a great job, but Mappa picked it up and knocked it out the park.
the whole "final season" thing ending up as multiple seasons and multiple specials is silly as hell, but the results speak for themselves and the final product was excellent.
the final season starts from a completely different perspective, which seems like a perfect spot for production to have changed. it's a bit jarring, characters don't look *quite* how you remember, but you get used to it.
youtube
this ED... luv it. listened it it a bunch. very sweeping, a perfect last emotional beat to lead each episode into. (plus i'm only just now realizing the foreshadowing of the bird imagery.) mwah.
---
so by the 3rd season on, it's clear the series it hitched on twists and poetic character interconnections. i love that shit. yeah, characters dealing with the results of their actions through the people their actions have affected. that's the good shit gimme that
what i like about this series is that it feels like the directions it takes were thought out and planned ahead? seems like an obvious thing to do with a story, but it's fleetingly rare under the maniac workload of weekly manga production, so you take what you can get.
but i feel the series would still have rewatch value, even after you know the mysteries and twists, because you can refocus on the actions of the characters, knowing the secrets they're hiding, seeing the little clues you never noticed previously. that is good.
---
my friend, who wasn't particularly into anime, got really into the 1st season (it's a gateway series afterall), but fell off with the 2nd season... so complete opposite of me... we argued about it a couple times lol
he's mumbling about the secret of the basement, how it's not a big surprise, and im like.... you are like a tiny baby... you cannot fathom the directions this series takes
and it absolutely does go wild places leading into the final arc, enough to reasonably say it jumped the shark or whatever. but at that point it's a rollercoaster and it's all a means to an end to get the story where it wants to be.
---
and the ending. fuck, for *years* i been hearing how bad it was. {spoilers} did people really want eren to live or something? c'mon. he's clearly miles beyond redemption by that point. and it still tries throwing him a vaguely sympathetic bone in the end you can take or leave.
don't be so clingyyyy about characterssss. not every character needs to be a beacon of moral light, and not everyone needs to get a happy ending. even if you still really like the character, let the narrative take them in the direction it needs to take.
the final scenes of time passing gets very existential. it shows that, despite all hardships, it was all just a spec of sand in the hour glass of time. despite the struggles and victories for peace, war still found its way back around again.
the final shot of the boy and the dog walking toward the tree where eren is buried mirrors ymir's accidental finding of titan powers. the suggestion is it's all cyclical, and the struggle of titans will inevitably begin again, as it reasonably happened even before ymir's time.
i think that's kinda poetic. i like it. leaves you wondering what it's all for. it's nice when an ending leaves you thinking about things.
Tumblr media
anyways this rant is aimless and no one's reading. but i'm gonna go ahead and call this shit a masterpiece, idgaf. it's not perfect, maybe not a top fav, but it doesn't need to be. it hits those strong emotional notes cleanly and consistently, and that makes my dog brain happy.
the end.

𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: tom holland x fem!reader
𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: your boyfriend got home just in time to watch his most recent interview on tv with you.
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: swearing, nothing just fluff! :)
𝗔/𝗡: this is my first time writing for tom so i hope you guys like it!! <3
this is based on the spider-man: far from home interview with jimmy kimmel!
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
the young girls heart was silent for the first nineteen years of her life. nothing but a faint heartbeat and some clouded thoughts of little to nothing inconsistencies. from the moment she first opened her eyes as a baby, separating her fingers and spreading her toes while her newly polished eyes tried making sense of her surroundings, to the ripe summer when her mother insisted she become a camp counselor to succumb enough money to buy her very own long-overdue car. the girl felt nothing.
the teens she longed to be alike were a mere hourglass, y/n a shadow. portraying their success and growth without mirroring any of her own, she felt like a weak duckling surrounded by marvelous swans. she would spend her youth watching blondes fall for brunettes on television, plopping popcorn into her mouth while pressing rewind on her favorite romantics, watching the way they would look at eachother and move with one another. she never thought she could be able to experience that. everything inside her was too quiet, too plain.
and then she met tom. it became loud, too loud, and she loved it. everything she thought she could never achieve, she achieved with him. her colorless days no longer existed and she fell deeper and deeper in love with him everyday.
switching the tv from some medical soap opera, y/n sat on her couch. she wore nothing but a plain bra and a pair of baby blue satin shorts. normally, she’d cover up more, especially if she had company over, but tom was a different kind of company and a comfortable one at that.
“THOMAS HURRY UP!” she could hear her boyfriend yell a faint, “i’m coming,” through the noise of the water running. shortly after, the shower stopped as y/n scrolled mindlessly through her phone, impatient.
she expected to see her boyfriend walk out of the bathroom, a trail of steam behind him, but instead she heard the loud roar of a hairdryer.
“for fucks sake-“ her mouth was lacking the salty and buttery flavor she craved so she took the opportunity to use her time by putting some popcorn in the microwave while her boyfriend blowed out his hair.
as she watched the minutes on the timer go down, the machine dinged as she grabbed a bowl and poured the snack inside it. she made her way back to the bench sofa and extended her legs out on the grey island cushions. the lace on the trim of her shorts tickled her feet as she folded her legs. “TOM HURRY THE FUCK UP, ITS ALMOST STARTING!”
the girls mouth was full as she yelled, losing patience with the boy. “IM SORRY, IM COMING!”
minutes later, a shirtless tom holland, wearing nothing but a white towel wrapped around his waist, appeared in their shared living room. the girls eyes grew big, his doing the same as he took in her taboo and exposed form.
“what- tom! you haven’t even gotten dressed yet?!”
“well, neither have you, apparently! plus, this is pretty comfortable, is it not?”
“tom-“ she warned.
“i got it, i got it..” his bare feet slapped against the hardwood floors as he quickly ran into their bedroom and retrieved his clothes. he came back out wearing a black t shirt and a pair of light blue sweatpants.
“KIMMEL IS STARTING!” she pointed at the tv and looked over to see tom bounce down onto the couch next to her, sprawling his legs out like she had done earlier.
“baby, that’s just the intro, i’m not there yet.” she peered over at him.
“who said i’m watching this for you?” he turned his head and made a sarcastic face.
“yeah, sure..” he mocked.
“WAIT, i need my blanket! go, get it, i don’t want to miss this!”
“y/n, it hasn’t even started yet-“
“now tom!”
“but what if i miss it!”
“you were there, you already know what happens-“ you lightly shoved his clothed knee and he sprung to his feet, so fast that tessa jolted up and ran after him.
“tessa! calm down!” the dog didn’t listen and continued following her dad, panting the whole way back.
once they were settled, jimmy announced his upcoming guests before a quick commercial break.
“quick, my ass..” she muttered.
tom stifled a chuckle. “why are you so bent up about this? you’ve seen my interviews before!”
“yeah, but i’ve never been able to actually watch one with you! it’s like… an entirely different experience!”
he didn’t believe her. “are you sure that’s the real reason? or is it because you just want me to give you secret info on the film, because love, you know i can’t do that, not after last time.”
she placed a hand on her chest playfully, “tom! i would never, how could you think of me like that?! as if i would ever do such a thing!”
“mmhmm..”
the commercials came to an end and y/n looked up to see jimmy start announcing the cast.
“shit, oh my god, it’s happening.”
“shhh, calm down!” tom laughed, placing a hand on your shoulder, his other arm sprawled out behind the frame of the sofa.
“how can i keep calm!? my fucking BOYFRIEND is about to be on tv! you know how many people can say that they are dating spider-man? like, no one!” her knee was bouncing and she couldn’t contain the excitement. watching someone on television while sitting in the same room with them was a rush she had never felt before.
she was loud as hell inside.
“please welcome, tom hol-“
“WHOOOOO, YEAH!!” she started clapping dramatically and stood up for a quick second, her eyes glued to the tv as she watched her boyfriend appear, while her actual boyfriend sat there laughing at her excitement.
they did a stupid elevator bit, before him and everyone else walked up to their chairs.
“really, tom?” his dark eyes flickered to hers. “what?! i thought you would like it, it’s funny!” she rolled her eyes and smiled, thinking to herself: my boyfriend is a dork, even on national television.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
“oh my god, you all look so good.”
“i know, right?”
“look at jake!”
“yeah-“
“look at zendaya!”
“i know-“
“OH MY GOD LOOK A-“
“OKAY Y/N, i get it, everyone but me is attractive, thanks. you’ve made it pretty clear.” he frowned as you gushed over how good his coworkers looked.
“yes, tom! i think you look awful, that’s why i’ve been dating you for the past four years, because i think you are ugly.”
he looked at his girlfriend, uncertainty in his eyes.
“oh, come on, i’m joking! you’re beautiful, come here.” she grabbed the side of his head and pulled him over so his head was laying on her chest. she began to play with his hair while watching.
“so the trailer came out, the trailer got like 135 million views within the first hour-“
“yeah it did!” she exclaimed, her fingers busy in his hair.
“see, i didn’t know that then.” he muttered, his brows furrowing together as tessa looked up at him from y/n’s lap.
“well it’s no secret, i’m not very good at instagram.”
y/n bursted out laughing. it wasn’t even that funny, but all of her emotions where heightened in this moment.
“oh god, i know where this is going.. this is the zendaya story isn’t it?” you smirk down at him and he lifts his head to nod at you.
“i knew it..”
“i basically.. forgot to post the trailer.”
“that’s bad.”
“yes jimmy, yes it is.” she couldn’t contain the snickers leaving her mouth and tom protested against it.
“listen, it’s difficult for some people, okay!”
“mmhmm, whatever you say baby.” she remembers distinctly, waking up and asking her boyfriend why he never posted the trailer, which caused him to wind up into a frenzy and immediately contact zendaya for assistance.
“well, you wouldn’t tell me how to!”
“tom, you’re a grown man! you should be able to figure that out yourself, peter parker.” she leaned over and kissed his cheek, his arm wrapped around her.
“so you’re IT for the team?”
“yeah, y/n, making poor zendaya the it for the team-“
“oh, shush, it was funny as fuck. but not as funny as the time you spoi-“
he placed his finger on her lips to quiet her, “oh, stop it!” she giggled in response.
she watched as zendaya recalled the moment she had to screen record how to delete an instagram story for him, which was another thing y/n refused to help him with. sure, she loves him and all, but watching the panic on his face as he realizes that he messed up, always cracked her up. especially since he brags about how ‘tech savvy’ he is for his age.
“it’s not my fault you’re a grampa!”
“yeah, we’ll, you’re dating a grampa!”
“true, i am.”
her hands reached towards her blanket as she put her popcorn bowl down and laid the covering over her and her boyfriend. the grey weighted blanket matching the couch perfectly.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
“okay, wait…why are you guys still in highschool?!” y/n had paused the program to engage in a very serious and heated discussion about the aftermath of endgame which led up to the beginning of his new movie, far from home, which had yet to come out.
“i mean.. it’s five years! i’m so confused.” tom sighed, placing his hands on his knees, he sat up straight. “like i said in the interview, y/n, i don’t know.”
“well… ask the russo brothers! i mean, jacob is right, that’s a huge plothole!”
toms eyes sparkled as he looked at his lover trying to make sense of the whole thing.
“i… i don’t even know what to say right now. my whole life is a lie!”
“okay, let’s not get too dramatic here-“
“NO, tom! as an avengers fanatic, i need to know!” she gripped the hem of his shirt and tugged, his body jolting forwards.
“tell me!” she shook him as he laughed and tessa barked.
“i don’t know, baby!” she frowned slightly and looked at her boyfriends amused face.
“i’m dating spider-man, you’d think i’d get the inside scoop.” she rolled her eyes and placed her legs back up on the cushions. tom leaned over and looked her up and down, flickering from her bare chest and her eyes. he leaned into her neck and started planting kisses. “i’m sorry, i will be sure to ask someone at marvel for you.” she smiled sweetly before thanking him.
“has everyone seen avengers: endgame?”
the girl rose to her feet, the blanket stuck to her bare legs. “yes, jimmy, i have! i saw my boyfriend get dusted right before my fucking eyes!”
tom remembered the first time he watched the film with her. it was hard for him to keep it under wraps and while he did end up telling her some spoilers, he kept out the whole ‘death by thanos’ part.
“okay, calm down little one.” he reached his arm out to pull her down, back to the couch.
“tom, baby, i know you like.. could get in trouble for it but-“
“y/n… not this conversation again.” he put his hand up to his forehead, two fingers on the bridge of his nose. she knew that if she prodded and poked in all the right spots, that her boyfriend would give in. that it just took a little push for him to confess all the dirty details of his new blockbuster.
“come on! i am begging, tom- i have so many questions, can you blame me? i mean… mysterio, like.. what’s that guy all about?! he’s a villian right?”
“well…”
“a hero?”
“definitely not.”
“antihero?”
“not exactly-“
“UGH, tom! you are killing me here.” she whined, putting her hands on his chest as the paused tv shined upon his features. “please give me something… anything.” she trailed her fingers down his chest, tauntingly.
“anything?” he smirked at her.
“yup. like… maybe just exactly what jakes character is? i mean, i remember him telling us at dinner that time, but that was barely enough, i mean.. there’s gotta be more right?”
“go on.”
“and mj, i mean.. is peter finally going to ask her out? baby, so many questions, i just have so many.”
“well… i guess i could tell you one thing..” he tempted her. her lips twitched upwards as she pressed her forehead against his.
“mmhmm?”
“i could tell you that… the ending of the movie?”
“yeah..”
“is fucking fantastic. really, it’s brilliant babes.”
“because?”
“you will just have to see-“ he was cut off by his girlfriend hitting him in the face with a pillow.
“FOR FUCKS SAKE TOM-“
“quiet down! you are going to get tessa all going..”
“sorry…”
a moment of silence passed as tom squealed, “for fucks sake tom!” in his best high pitched, y/n impression possible.
“shut up!”
the two laughed before she clicked play.
“you look so good here, tom. it’s so weird like- i’m sitting next to you-“ she pointed at tom, “but, there you are on tv!”
“you are just realizing this?”
“well, it’s like inception!”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
“i was told, it was a wedding!”
her chest boiled with anger as she quickly hit pause. “NO BECAUSE, fuck you for that! i remember being all excited, thinking tony and pepper were gonna have a beautiful wedding, only to see hes fucking DEAD.”
tom couldn’t hold in his laughs. “i’m sorry, i didn’t know!”
“well it’s pretty obvious, tom! everyone’s sad and in black, baby, you really are an airhead.”
“hey-“ she cut him off with a kiss to his lips.
the two cuddled up while watching the interview, small laughs leaving their bodies.
“like, zendaya! when did you find out how endgame ended?”
“oh, i remember. me, jacob, and zendaya were all in a facetime call freaking the fuck out, while my boyfriend over here, was chilling like nothing was wrong.”
“you guys were in a facetime call?” he questioned.
“yes! i was heartbroken and i had gotten a call from z who was clearly also upset!”
“well, he’s fine clearly! i mean, i wouldn’t be in far from home if peter was dead, right?”
she looked up at him, his heartbeat still lingering on her skin. “so you can tell me that you are still alive, but you can’t tell me about jake gyllenhaals character?”
“well, it’s a given! obviously peter is alive!”
y/n groaned, her head now resting on his chest.
“dating a superhero is difficult.”
“aww, poor darling, i’m sure it is.” he peppered kisses along her forehead.
“hey! you ate all of the popcorn?!” tom was flabbergasted, his voice heightening a few octaves.
“yep, and what about it?” her tone dripping in sass.
“i wanted some, for one!”
“too bad, maybe if you would spill the deets on far from home, you’d get some of my popcorn. hell, tom, if you confess right now, i’ll make you a whole bowl!”
“no.”
“well it was worth a try!”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
“i can’t believe it’s over.” the house was completely silent, the only thing audible being tessa’s light snores.
“i’m gonna miss that guy..”
“baby, i’m right here.” he placed his hand at the small of her back, looking at her lovingly.
“i’m talking about mysterio.”
“oh, yeah, great!” she giggled at his response. “he’s just so hot, tom! way hotter than peter-“
“yeah, maybe if you think manipulation is hot!”
her mouth fell agape at his words.
“what?” he said, oblivious to the screw up he just made. she smiled widely at him as he slowly was hit with realization.
“oh, fucking damn it!”

let me love you.
summary: Tendou is insecure that one day you’ll stop loving him
genre: angst, fluff resolve
characters: Tendou Satori
warnings: Tendou [mentions of varying levels of insecurity; holding back emotions in beginning.]
Tumblr media
Tendou Satori | 天童 | boyfriend
You were not blind. You had known Tendou for far too long, you have been in love with him and had stuck by his side and listened to all of his stories for far too long to not notice. Something was wrong.
You always knew about your boyfriends’ way of covering up his insecurities by building a wall and deflecting anything that could get to his feelings by rebounding with some joke or a random song. Yet you were the only one that had the key to unlock the tiny door on that wall and go inside to him. To be with him. To love him him and not his silly songs, but HIM.
So it confused you when you noticed that Tendou was acting odd today and whenever you would ask him what was wrong he would shrug it off a little too happily, a smile that was a little too big to be natural.
You were hanging out at his practice like you always did to watch him play and to support him. But you could tell something was off. And every time he came back to sit next to you for a few seconds to take a water break your sad look only saddened more when he acted so out of himself.
You tilted your head, “Satori, baby, are you okay?” you ask, you voice laced with concern.
Tendou looked at you, his eyes softened at your concern but you watched them harden again in a way of a screen being pushed forward just as fast. He stuck a thumb up and grinned a huge grin, “of course i am !! are you okay ?? you look a little sad. we can get ice cream after this okay ??!?”
He ran off before you could even muster an answer in your mind, leaving you baffled sitting by yourself once again.
You felt guilt pull at one of your heartstrings when you noticed that your question seemed to have affected Tendou. He wasn’t doing so hot before, and now? He seemed to miss the ball nearly every time. But he just kept shaking it off and laughing it off. It was worrying you and you felt like you were about to cry seeing his current state.
Tendou had just been switched off by the coach for the practice match. You walked over to where he was sitting to make sure that he was okay. You couldn’t give up just like that. You knew something was wrong and you had to figure it out. You had to help him because seeing him like this just hurt too much.
Tendou noticed your presence closing in towards him where he was sitting out from the game and smiled. “hiiiiii, i keep messing up don’t i? don’t worry, next time im in i’ll make sure to make you happy!!” he exclaimed again.
You grabbed hold of his hand and you felt his hand twitch at the sudden touch, “I’m okay, but are you sure you’re doing alright? You know you don’t have to keep playing if you’re not doing okay right now, it’s just practice, and you have to put yourself first.” You pleaded him, trying to reach his eyes, but his gaze kept averting.
“I’m alright!!~ the practice match is almost over and then we just have to clean up and we can go somewhere together, okAy?” he responded, his voice was starting to waver and the voice crack gave away his emotions, before you could do anything, Tendou was being called back into the game.
fuck.
This hurt so much. Watching Tendou like this hurt so much and it felt like you were too far from him to pry him back to you. But you don’t give a damn, you would climb mountains and swim oceans for this boy and this little stump won’t stop you from loving him and showing him how much he means to you.
You try to patiently wait for the set to finish meaning the end of practice. It’s hard. Your eyes following Tendou wherever he went, even with his words of assurance and the fight in his eyes to fight whatever deep dark emotion in him that was halting his world right now, you could see he was about to break. And if you don’t help him soon this just might break you too.
The whistle sounds and you run to Tendou, “hiii baby wha — “
Tendou is caught out of breath as you rush to him, tugging at his jersey to go outside.
Once you reach outside everything feels like it’s breaking through, all of your emotions of worry spill over like a nasty tsunami, “Stop it Satori, you need to stop it because I care about you too much. You need to talk to me, you need to tell me what’s wrong, you need to let me help you because if you don’t I don’t think I will be okay, I love you too much Satori, please.” you beg, your heavy chest giving in to the pressure and a straggled sob leaves your lips as you plead to him. Your lip quivering and your eyes glazed over threatening to spill.
Tendou can’t even muster words and he simply falls apart. His eyes set heavy tears as he starts sobbing too, he grabs you and holds you tight at your torso. “I- I’m sorry.” he hiccups as the tears keep falling down his cheek, getting caught in your pretty blouse. His hold on you was so tight, but you never wanted him to let go.
“I-I just love you so much, I-” A strangled sound leaves his throat followed by a hiccup, his fingers tighten on your shirt, “I’m just s-so scared that one day I w-won’t be good enough, I want to be with you, I want to be with you forever, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me y/n, I want to be good for you forever. B-but I’m scared of what will happen if you find someone b-better.” he confesses, the top of his head pressed on your stomach with you standing and him sitting on a near bench, his gaze is to the ground as he watches his tears trickle down from his pretty eyes to the pavement.
You kneel down to be eye level to him sitting on the bench. Your eyes were puffy from crying just as much as him, you cheeks glistened to the sun due to the salty tears that spilled from your eyes like the watering of daisies you had done only this morning.
You held his two hands on your own, caressing them, rubbing circles with your thumb. You started to kiss his hands softly as if planting pretty roses on his skin. His fingers, his palm, the back of his hand. He watches you curiously, his heart felt as if it could melt to your affection.
You then place each of your hands on either side of his face, looking at his beautiful dark brown eyes that held a shade of red. His own eyes searched yours. “Tendou,” you started, a soft smile on your face softening your features further with the golden sunset light saying its’ farewells until night leaving one last show of pretty pinks and oranges in the sky. “There no such thing as someone better for me than you.”
You watched his features change at the sound of your words, at the sound of your true honesty, because you were right, there was no such thing. Tendou was the only one you could ever love this much, there was no better, he was the better. A soft blush painted on his cheeks. Your thumb caressed his cheek.
“There’s no such thing as someone better for me than you either y/n.” he smiled in mirror to your own.
More tears threatened at both Tendou and your own eyes, but this time it was due to the swell of your hearts.
“I love you, okay?” you sniffed, the soft smile still playing amongst your features.
“I love you too.” he replied, his head tilting to your left hand on his cheek that had been stroking his cheek.
You both slowly became closer, trying to take in the face of the one that they loved as much as possible before closing your eyes. Your eyes closed and your lips met. It was a soft kiss, not one of any meaning other than the essence of your shared love, the start of all the honesty as possible of any insecurities and feelings you had for one another and the purity of affection that you held for one another, the pure love of the willingness to sacrifice anything for the other. No walls. Because when you allowed each other to love one another, it was as if you were one.
His lips brushed soft on your own, the taste of salty mixed tears tickled your taste buds. There was no want from either side to pull away, because this moment right here, it could be replayed for eternities and both of you would be okay with that, this moment was not one where the world existed. It was truly, only you, and Tendou.

||The Pastas At The Beach||
this was originally like an entirely different post but ehhh this ways better!
disclaimer Im setting this like, at a beach with a boardwalk and such next too it? Public beach, small time vacationing!
and that they conviently like..pass as human
I hope you guys enjoy!! remember too check out my announcement board!
taglist: @frozensriracha @creepy-bi-day @capricornartistsstuff @krayolacolor
Jeff the Killer
Jeff doesn't really do much at the beach
The salt water irritates his skin and he burns easily, doesn't want too deal with it
Spends most of his time asleep
Hogs all the damn towels by sprawling out all over all of them
Gets sand over everything that they brought with them
Forgets how wind works and it gets everywhere
When its time for some of em too go get food, he always fucking goes
Wants too walk around and do something, and maybe not get blamed for all the fucking sand when everyone sits back down
He wears one of those like protective long sleeved shirts? and red swim trunks that are just somewhat obnoxiously bright
While getting the food he has a brilliant idea
Befriends the fucking seagulls
Lures them back too their umbrellas and just vibes with his bird army
atleast he's not alone anymore?
Ben Drowned
first off I know like he doesn't go swimming
but imagine if he did
his fucking goggles get filled up with blood
gets weird ass tan lines from the blood on his face like, when he's not swimming
has too wear the goggles when he puts on sunscreen-
ok ok thats it
fucker wears like mountain dew swim trunks
and those arm floatie things despite not going anywhere near the water
He tries too sit around Jeff but that gets boring fast-
Just walks the fuck off without telling anyone, on a journey for adventure
Will spend literal hours sitting underneath the boardwalk until someone finds him
After that they get him like one of thise beach toy kit things
Sally's nice enough too fill the bucket with water too, so they can make sand castles and stuff
She walks along the shore line with him, gets pretty shells too
Also if Ben were too go in the water
He's a fucking shark magnet with all that blood-
But don't tell him that, he won't come back too the beach
Ticci Toby
Toby is very excited too go to the beach
He didn't get out much as a kid
Siked as hell too get in the water
Drops his stuff off as soon as possible and runs right into the water
And thats when he realizes he can't fucking swim
Awkwardly flaps his arms around until a wave moves him along too back where he can stand
Everyones kinda confused when he comes back like "?? You were so excited, what happened?"
"I can't swim :(("
Cody volunteers to teach him right away, like the great brother he is
The thing is Cody is a horrible fucking teacher
Another few minutes of Toby getting owned by some waves and Cody just screaming stuff like
"Use your arms Toby- no not like that how I showed you- no I'm not going too help how are you supposed to learn-"
That's when Kate drags him back too shore and Doby and Brian teach him instead
In a bit he learns and ends up having a lot of fun
I feel like Toby would really like boogie boarding?
A lot easier then surfing but still a good time
Also they have too tie a red scarf around his arm so they don't loose his ass in a crowd, or in the water
Third Base
so far, Doby's the only one on this list who actually came prepared
I feel like he'd use one of those face lotions that has SPF 30 in it already?
Smart enough so he doesn't have too smear sun screen around his face, can just use the spray stuff and get going
Also has shoes and sunglasses too go with each like swimsuit/outfit he brings
Mans is put together
Really likes collecting shells and stuff
Walks with Sally, shows her how too find them
Wakes up kinda early as it is? So its easy for him too go too the beach early and find the shells before the tide pulls them back out
It's one of his favorite times, actually
The suns just rising, a few shops are opening, only a handful of people are on the beach
Does it everyday as his "alone time" before everyone else wakes up
Spends most of his time with everyone kinda relaxing?
I can see him really liking those beach volleyball games
Or just playing frizbee in the shallow water!
Really, really enjoys making sand castles
Builds a moat and everything so it stays up when the waves start coming closer
X-Virus
Cody, another kid who never got much beach expierence
But acts like he did
Buys one of those waterproof, phone lanyard things
Forgets too fucking close it properly
Doesn't have the first idea of what seagulls are like
"Oh come on buys its fine-" gets fucking owned for his cheesestick
Lowkey scared of them after that
Refuses too eat on the beach after that
Sits with ben under the board walk and curls around his chips
Spends most of his time in the water
Wants too see how far he can go before the lifegaurd calls him back
Finds it funny as shit too just slowly go deeper while grinning at them
Until a wave slaps him in the back of the head
And then he gets scared of the deepwater too
After he looses Swimming Coach privellages gets really fucking salty and sulks on the beach
Kate takes pity on him and walks around the boardwalk with him
But he also didn't know you have too reapply sunscreen after you go swimming
Gets really really bad sunburn
Jeff, Ben and Toby take turns slapping it whenever he gets too cocky
Masky
This is gonna be a Dad Tim one, fight me
Really has no idea what the fuck is going on, but still manages too keep everyone together?
Tells the same story, atleast twice a day, about the killer wave that almost took his shorts off
Gets in fights with seagulls whenever they get realitively close too the group
Also buys one of those crappy beach wagon things too put their stuff in
Buys a mug and cheesy beer koozie
Doesn't enjoy the beach that much but gets excited too go?
Ends up sitting down for most of the time unless he gets dragged on walks
Might just kinda walk until the water is at his knees and just kinda stand there, and nod a little
Giving mother nature his approval
He takes Sally out and holds onto her stomach, lifts her up over the waves whenever they come
Asks her what she can see, before he drops her back down
Tries it with Ben, gets kicked in the gut-
Favorite time is when it's dark and they go
Not for a long time, just a few minutes too walk along the shore before it gets dark
Hoodie
Designated photographer
Is supposed too be taking photos but mostly gets footage of the stupid shit that happens
Like Jeff not being able too figure out the dishwasher or Clockwork wrestling with her dresser where only half the drawers worked
Just kinda sits back and watches things go up in flames
He's the designated like playlist guy too? On the drive over, whenever he got bored just
"Hey what song should I play?"
And watches chaos ensue
His vacation is watching everyone else have a bad time
Makes up for it though, saves them a shit ton of money by making dinner every night.
I feel like he genuinely enjoys late nights on the beach, like Tim
Gets some beautiful photos of the water, and people taking walks that he's pretty damn proud of
Maybe once or twice he'll join Doby for a walk too get pictures of the rising sun
Likes getting small things from the gift shops
Shark teeth, maybe a cheesy snowglobe
Something silly but nice too remember the trip by
Eyeless Jack
first things first, ya know those double-lens glasses? Like you flip up the sunglass part and theres normal lenses underneath? Someone gave him those
But their are crappy eyes painted on the normal lenses
He's very confused but its just ridiculous enough for him too like
The beach isn't his favorite place, I HC him as nocturnal and most things are open during the day
He takes too the rides and crappy carnival games that are open late at night
He can't see everything super well but makes up fun things for himself
Enjoys going on rollercoasters that he has no idea what the hell the drops look like
Fucking hates bumper cars
Can't tell where everyone's coming from or when
More nerve racking then fun
Whenever they go to the beach beach he just kind of chills
Akwardly curls up on a towel because he's big as shit
Where ever they stay he walks around, uses his echo location shit too find out all its quirks
"This walls more hallow then that one- those support beams in the lobby are doing a very shitty job of keep things together"
Loves sitting out on the balcony and just smelling the salt air, listening too people laughing and the ocean waves
Just the small details a lot of people miss

It was another mission. Another nightmarish fire-fight where you almost lost a limb, almost lost a friend, almost lost your life. Twenty-four hours later and you’re back home, safe.
Well, as safe as you can be when your engagement is on the verge of breaking off.
You stare at the simple ring on your left hand. White gold band, a tiny amethyst set to the left of a diamond. There was a nearly identical one lying next to the sink, the only difference being the switched places of the glittering gems.
You know she didn’t do it purposefully. You had both been exhausted after what was supposed to be an in-and-out mission turned into a hostage situation. Daisy did what she always did as soon as you were home — take off her gauntlets, wash her hands in the sink, grab a snack, and hop into a steaming shower.
But you still can’t stop yourself from staring at it, eyes fixed, hands shaking, breath held and mind racing.
You used to join her. You would wash each other’s hair, ease each other’s sore muscles with delicate touches on tender purple-black bruises. She would lean into you, letting you braid her hair and falling asleep in your arms, drifting into a deep slumber. It was intimate, lovely; it was normal and perfect.
Taking a sip of your room-temperature beer, you slide off the cool granite of the kitchen island. You had a new routine after missions now, you just had to get used to it.
You hear the shower shut off, bare feet pad into your cosy bedroom, and the door shut with a loud creak. The minute squeak of the mattress tells you that Daisy flopped into bed.
A ghost of a smile lights your face. It looks more like a grimace, you think, as you check your distorted reflection in the green glass of your beer bottle. Chucking the empty bottle in the recycling, you run a hand through your dirty, salty hair. The comfy sweats you changed into an hour ago would need to be washed, the dirt still adorning your skin rubbing off on the black material. You exhale before heading down the hall towards the bathroom.
The tiled room is filled with steam, the mirror fogged up so that only a blurry outline of your silhouette could be seen. You are unrecognizable.
How fitting.
The quick, cold shower you take does nothing to ease your mind or body. You wipe the mirror in a circle, taking out a first aid kit.
With all your cuts bandaged and the proper creams Jemma had snuck to you and Daisy applied to your fresh bruises, you headed into the hallway in your towel.
Daisy is standing in the kitchen, lilac lounge shorts you bought her last Christmas showing off her tanned and scarred legs. She looks warm and soft, a very different Daisy than the superhero who had broken a mob boss’ legs just hours before. Her hair is wet and in braids. You frown. You always braid her hair.
If she hears you, she doesn’t turn around, so you take a moment to admire her. Ten seconds, that’s all you give yourself. It was a stressful mission, if you stare too long she might snap. From the back, you can’t see the dark circles you know are there, but you can see the tension in her shoulders and the slight tilt of her head as she ponders what to eat.
You say nothing as you go to the bedroom to change. You find a black pair of SHIELD sweats and an old, holey t-shirt you vaguely remember stealing from Fitz. A presence at the doorway catches your attention.
“Hi,” Daisy says tentatively. Your breath caught in your throat, your lungs holding the air captive until Daisy spoke again.
“I missed you.”
Your eyes widened. Maybe tonight wouldn’t end with one of you on the couch, clutching a six pack while the other cried as quietly as possible, tucked into cold, lonely sheets.
“Braiding my hair, I mean,” She clarified. Her fingers twisted together, rigid posture giving away her nerves.
The air felt humid, as if the open window had suddenly sucked all the AC out and let the mid-summer heat in. Your memory flashes to the last time you and Daisy had a normal, happy conversation.
The edges are fuzzy, but the pure joy in Daisy’s chocolate eyes is clear. Fairy lights strung haphazardly around the living room, a movie playing in the background, your lips on hers. Blankets make a ceiling over your head that shut out the rest of the world, this moment was only for you two. You played with the thin metal band on her ring finger, she ran her hands through her hair. Her matching ring scratched your scalp lightly. You both smile as you pull away. You whisper childhood stories, laugh at the funny parts and offer melancholic smiles at the not-so-lighthearted parts. You were happy.
That night you got the call — Lincoln Campbell, yours and Daisy’s best friend, had wrapped his car around a telephone pole coming off of a long shift at the hospital. His blood alcohol was almost .40.
Eggshells littered the house from the time you got back from the funeral. One wrong word, Daisy would snap and spend hours punching a bag until her fingers bled. You would fill those hours with whatever was closer — wine or your car keys. You pulled yourself out of your head, realizing you should answer her.
“I missed it, too,” You breathed.
Daisy made a small, unintelligible noise before collapsing against the door frame. You froze for only a second, your mind racing through possibilities. Was she bleeding internally? Was it her back again? Did she get shot and not notice until now?
You leap over to her, catching her as she crumbles to the hardwood floor.
A quiet sob wracks her chest. Your hands hover over her slouched back, unsure how to comfort her. At this moment, Daisy feels foreign. Her sudden vulnerability alerts you to how she’s been holding her emotions in for god knows how long.
“Daisy…” You start, hesitantly.
Daisy hiccups loudly, another wave of tears washing over her.
“Tell me to leave, I’ll pack my bags,” Daisy cried, “But I don’t, I-I don’t want to lose you!”
Burning tears gather on your lash line, threatening to fall at her words. You never could stand to see Daisy cry.
Your brows furrow slightly in confusion before you realize what Daisy is talking about. After Lincoln’s death, you two had fought increasingly more often until Daisy locked herself away or spent the night at May’s, and you went for drives until your car ran on empty. On those nights, bottles of wine disappeared from the cabinet without a trace.
Daisy sits up, stamping down her sobs, seemingly resigning herself to the fact that you aren’t going to say anything. Her trembling lip and red eyes pierce your heart. The astronomical distance between you two seems atomic now. You reach out quicker than lightning, shushing her cries and rubbing her back.
“Do you want to go?” You asked after a while. Your knees dig uncomfortably into the floor, your shoulder hurts from the ridges in the doorframe.
Daisy sniffles, her hair falling into her face as she looks away. You crane your neck down, carefully tucking her hair behind her ear.
“You know I’m afraid of change, I guess that’s why we’ve stayed the same,” You sigh, your chest constricting and squeezing the broken glass pieces of your heart.
You take a deep breath, steeling yourself to continue, “But if you want to find a new life, someone who loves you better than I do, darling, I understand.”
Daisy is still frozen, stare burning holes in the floor. You’re glad that the two of you are at home, the poly-tectic adaptive materials hidden between the walls keeping the house from collapsing. By the slight groan of the foundation, you can imagine Daisy could bring down a mountain with the amount of pain she’s in.
Which can only mean one thing.
“I’m not enough,” You stated. It wasn’t a question. You glance down, a glint in the low light cast from the lamp on the bedside table catching your eye. She has her ring on…
Daisy finally, finally shakes her head ‘no’. You let go of a breath, guilt building every second that passes. She isn’t happy. You shouldn’t be happy that she’s staying.
“Feels like a lifetime, we’ve been trying to get by while we’re dying inside,” You say, gently.
Daisy snaps her eyes to yours, a desperation in them you recognize as grief.
“So much of the past year has been consumed by grief. We never took time off, we never talked about it. I’ve done a lot of things wrong, loving you being one,” She whispers.
You nod, there is no denying that you each had a part in getting to where you are now. Delicately, you grab her hand. She squeezes it, a rush of small vibrations traveling up your arm. Your chest flutters at the familiar affection.
“So have I,” You assure her. She gradually falls towards you, exhausted. You let her rest her head on your shoulder, her breath evening out as her arms wrap around you. You feel hot tears flow down your face, fall onto her hair. Slowly, you pull Daisy closer to you.
Hours later, the sun peeks over the top of the mountain range in the distance. You had adjusted the two of you sometime around two a.m., no longer able to feel your legs from how the floor cut off your circulation.
Sometime around three, you had gathered the courage to move Daisy to the bed, trying hard not to wake her. She had only turned over and not let go of your hand.
You haven’t slept at all tonight, thoughts spinning until you force yourself to pause and count to ten, only to repeat the pattern.
You know what you have to do. You know what’s best for the both of you. You’ll leave, pack your bags and find a place to stay until you can scrape up enough money to rent an apartment. You’ll go to therapy, learn to live without Lincoln, without Daisy. Eventually, Daisy will heal, too. You both have the team at your backs, no matter what happens. She would be okay.
But you know you won’t. The fear of losing Daisy, of losing your life, your home, yourself stops you. You can’t move on. You can’t move forward.
You know that the big changes it takes to heal could cost you Daisy. So, you stay the same. You give into fear. You’ll never be enough, never love Daisy right, never quite heal fully — and neither will Daisy. But you still stay.
You’ll always stay the same.

A feast was held. Of course it was––the only way Egyptians knew how to celebrate was with plenty of food, plenty of booze, and lots of sex. Already people wrote songs of your exploits, performing them as they waited for you and Ahk to appear in the courtroom now filled to the brim with the people of Memphis. Clashing drums and lutes accompanied by harps and singing voices all came from behind the walls, but the room Ahk prepared himself in remained mostly quiet, occupied only by you and himself. Piye was busy tending to the citizens with the help of Gyasi, who offered his services in helping the now-blind vizier.
"I never thought to see this day," Ahk said softly, staring at his reflection in the mirror. His outfit, which had taken about an hour to get on (plus makeup), left him the striking image of the Pharaoh you had first met––drowned in gold, in gemstones, reeking of rich, spoiled tastes.
"What, that you'd be attending a party in your own honor?" You asked with a chuckle.
"No," he said, turning to you, "I didn't think I'd see you willingly stand beside me."
"I didn't either. I hated you."
"Rightfully so," he mumbled. "I'm sorry, again, for how I treated you."
"You could've been a lot nicer while kidnapping me."
"I know. But you're happy now... right?"
"Yes," you said, grinning. "What would you do if I wasn't?"
"Abandon everything," he said with a careless shrug. "Run away with you. Leave it all behind."
"Even with a feast outside those doors?" You asked as you stepped closer. He took advantage of that, pulling you in by your waist and smiling when your chests met.
"Well, I might have to go to that first. But afterwards, I would go anywhere for you. Do anything. You are mine, now," he said, growing soft as his lips brushed against your temple, "and I have fought long to prove it."
"I think you belong to me more than I belong to you," you chuckled.
"Perhaps you're right," he said, swaying with you to the muted tunes of harpstrings. "I don't mind either way as long as you love me."
"I do," you mumbled.
"Say it," he said, parting from you to look you in the eye. His hand came up to your face, stroking the soft skin of your cheek as he gazed into you, searching for words he had longed for all this time. "Please."
"I love you, Ahk."
There he went again––tears down his face, dripping into and caught by the smile that spread across his rosy lips. He leant in to kiss you, still wet with those salty tears, but you happily returned his affections.
Until his kiss grew deep, devolving into him biting at your neck again, pressing himself against your body till your back inevitably hit a wall. He sandwiched you there, running his hands from your chest to your hips and back up to your face.
"Now then, your people wait for you. Don't disappoint them by not showing up," you warned him, but there was little resolve in your tone, already torn up by the blush pervading your cheeks.
"I'll be quick," he muttered against your skin, followed by a laugh when you groaned.
"But you can also do this later, when you can take your time," you said, but couldn't stop yourself from smiling even as you tried to push him away.
"I can do it twice."
"Ahk!"
"Call my name again, love," he said, drawing away from you with a shit-eating grin.
"We can do this after," you said as you fully pushed him away. "Even during, depending how the evening goes."
"I like how you think," Ahk said, offering his hand to you with a cocked chin raised high. "Ready to go?"
You nodded.
The doors before you opened, and a short walk up to the throne led you to overlook the crowd, scanning over every citizen's face whose eyes fell to you. Without a word spoken from you or Ahk, silence fell in the hall crowded past the brim. Torches flanked either side of the long room, illuminating the moving heads, as well as marking the searing smoke of meat and the plates of food presented out on the many tables.
It was not unlike the feast for Amun, but this time the only human images standing on a podium were you and Ahk. No more golden statues. Now what remained was the Pharaoh in all his glory, glowing as though blessed with an ethereal light, sheer silk with sewn gold cascading from him like a comet trailing the sky.
Once most everyone's attention was on the Pharaoh, he spoke.
"I know that much of my rule has not been through peaceful times," he said, meeting the eyes of every listener. "I thank you all for your patience with me. We have seen the rising of my brother's empire, and it has ended in ruin––we have seen the death of three Pharaohs, myself included."
A quiet laugh murmured through the crowd. Out of the corner of your eye, you spied Piye sticking to the wall by themself. You jogged over, whispering a beckoning, before taking their hand and personally leading them up the pedestal.
"I am sure you have all heard of what I've done. The events that have come to pass. Whether or not you have the whole of the story, or any true part of the story, is what worries me. I want all of you to know why I did what I did––why, exactly, I am not a heretic. You deserve that much."
Ahk spoke as though conversing with an old friend, something you were sure made his approval rating amongst the populace skyrocket. He continued that tone of voice, that familiarity, as he recounted the long events of the past few months, from your appearance in the castle (which he labelled as a gift from the Gods), to Ma'at herself locking Amun into the sky. They all listened closely, believing every word of their loving Pharaoh.
"I did what I did to protect myself, my people, and my friends. They were necessary evils. But now I have Ma'at's blessing, and I take my rightful place as your Pharaoh," he said with a growing confidence that boomed in his projected voice. "I am Ra's Son once more."
An eruption of cheers and shouts burst your ears, and you grinned from ear to ear, glancing to your side to watch for Ahk's reaction. He was smiling as well, prideful as he deserved. Piye held their own small smile as well.
Instruments came back in full swing, humming and thrumming with the vibrations of the tall chamber. Though at first they were the melodies of many songs, playing one after the other without pause, they converged into a tune that filled your head, seeping into the thoughts of every listener. You paid little attention to the words they sang in perfect harmonies till a word caught your attention––your name. Looking out across the citizens of Memphis, of Kemet, you realized they were singing about you.
The fire that reigns on the burning King will never yield to the sword! The spells that remain pour down in the rain as the Nile boils in the sea
What wonders they bring! This thunder for the God, Amoke and the hundreds that sing the name of the God, Amoke
Pray to the earth for a saving grace As the magi searches the planes The dead, they seek The living antique a God of his own who can't rest on his throne Call to the name of the holy
We sing to thee! Sunset for the God, Amoke Sing praise for thee! Thunder for the God, Amoke Thunder for the God, Amoke! The beauty of the God, Amoke!
Your mouth hung open as you watched them sing, ignorant to Ahk, who was now smiling at your shocked expression.
"... and so will you be remembered," Ahk murmured, his arms wrapping around you as he came up behind you. "A God for all of time.”
“My Amoke."
~+~
You had access to great temples––to places of worship hundreds of years old, intricately detailed spells shown on every wall, bases of golden statues littered with flowers and offerings. Instead you stuck to your tiny altar, hidden away in one of the smaller storage rooms not in use. Ahk didn't quite understand it, but he allowed it happily, and left you alone to your devices.
The only item standing on your altar was a tiny statuette in the form of Mahjur. If Ahk found out that was who you were praying to, you weren't sure what he'd do, so for the time being you kept it secret. Besides that, it was nothing more than a table you set incense and tiny plates of food and water on.
It was the only light in the room––the tiny rushlight, the lit incense drawing smoke into the air. Layers of it fell above your head, knelt low in respect of the God who had helped you.
Physical feeling fell away, and in that moment, your forehead pressed to the table, you realized the many prayers you'd sent into the stranger of an underworld were being answered at last.
A single, high note rang in your head as the image of open, glowing eyes pierced your thoughts.
"Is Ahk ssssafe?" They asked in a whisper in your head that you could barely hear.
Yes, you thought, keeping your eyes closed to maintain the connection.
"... you haavvvvve.. other questionss... correct?"
Amun is an all-powerful God, yes?
"Yes."
How did we escape him? How did we hide away? Why did he not pluck me from the sky? How did we survive the ire of a creator God?
"Ahk hasss cccertain experiencess... with Gods. He issss ssssmart. He isss untraceable by annnny Gods' mmagggic."
How? You pleaded.
"He hass died annnnd come back. He issss... undead. No longer human. Nnnnot entirrrrely."
You swallowed thick, forcing yourself not to open your eyes from surprise.
And Piye?
"A mmmmagi. Invvvvissssible. Too... absorbed innn the world.. to see," they hummed, glowing eyes still probing your thoughts.
... and me?
There was silence for a moment, and the eyes blinked, but remained within your head.
"You... are not.. hhhhuman," they whispered.
Your eyes flew open.
What?

Evening to all :)
All right, so I finaly did it, the last chapter of my original story is finaly done :) It took me a while, what with the episode 8 being released at that time, and with some other stuff I wrote in the between then and now, but it is done. Well, one more part is left, basicly like an epilogue, wich will be posted in a couple of days, too, but the story itself ends with this one.
Anyway, enjoy, and I wish you all a nice evening :)
CALL OF THE RAVEN
PART 26
Jakes POV
„How is she?“ I asked Jessy as I entered the room. She got her head up from the book she was reading to look at me. „Still the same.“ She said. I sighed, walking to her bed. I took her hand, placing a soft kiss on her wrist. „The doctor was here earlier.“ Jessy informed me. „He said she is doing fine, that there's not any medical reason to be worried about.“ I just stared at her sleeping face. „Then why won't she wake up, Jessy?“ I asked her desperatly. „She will, Jake.“ she said to me, and I turned arround facing her. She smiled at me „When she's ready.“ Four days passed since they operated on her, and I was worried. Maybe Jessy was right, but her words didn't bring me any peace. She collected her stuff, and came to me. „Call me if you need anything. And if there's any change.“ She said hugging me. „Thanks, I will.“ I said, Jessy smiling once more at me before leaving. With Jessy gone, I moved myself lying next to her, leaning my forehead on the side of her head. „Please, Maya, you have to wake up.“ I whispered to her ear „ I can't do this alone, I need you with me.“
I felt a hand on my shoulder and flinched, turning my head. That nice nurse from before was smiling at me „Sorry, dear, didn't mean to fright you.“ I must have dozed off. „It's fine“ I said. „Is something wrong?“ I asked alarmed, and she smiled again „No, dear. I just need to change some things, so I have to ask you to leave for a while.“ I turned my head back to Maya, she looked so peaceful. „Dont worry, dear“ the nurse said „I'll take good care of her, just like I did before.“ I turned my look back to her. She smiled so heartedly at me, I got a feeling she had a special liking for Maya. And she did stick up for me when they brought Maya in here, and I refused to leave her and was almost dragged out by security. So I felt at peace to leave Maya with her. „Ofcourse, I'll let you do your thing.“ I said, getting up from the bed. I got to the doors when I turned back to her. „I'm sorry, but I don't know your name.“ I said and the nurse looked at me „It's Doris. Why do you ask, dear?“ „So I can properly thank you.“ I said. „So, thank you, Doris, for everything.“ She smiled wide at me „Oh, dear, you're sweet, and I knew I was right about you, but no need to thank me, really.“ She said and winked at me. I smiled back at her a bit confused before leaving the room.
I went outside, getting coffee and just sat at the bench in front of the hospital. I hated being here again. And seeing her back at that bed once more made me angry. And scared. More scared than the last time. All this uncertainty was driving me insane. If everything is fine like the doctor said, why isn't she awake yet? I was deep into my thoughts, that it took me a while to notice my phone was ringing. „Hey, Hannah.“ I answered the call. „Hi, Jake. How is she? Any change?“ she asked. I sighed „Nothing yet.“ „I'm sure everything will be fine soon, she's a fighter.“ She said reasuringly to me. „I hope so.“ I said. „I don't need to ask how you are“ she said „I can hear it in your voice. Did you eat anything today?“ I could hear the worry in her voice for me, and I could have easily lied, but she would know. „Not yet, I will later.“ „Jake, you can't do that to yourself.“ She said „And I won't let you. I'll be there in 10, and I'm taking you for lunch.“ „Hannah, that's nice of you, but rea...“ she didnt let me finish. „Stop it, I don't want to hear it!“ She almost yelled at me, and it made me smile. She really was worried for me, just like a sister would be. I was still geting used to that, of being someones brother. „All right, Hannah, I'll be waiting for you outside.“ „Good.“ She said „And besides, there is something I want to talk to you about anyway. Allrighty, see you in a while.“ „See you, Hannah.“ I said ending the call. I got up from the bench, taking the last sip of my coffe, heading out from the hospital area to meet with her.
The lunch with Hannah passed mostly with her talking and me thoughtfully nodding and saying a few words. She tried hard to lift my spirit up at least a little, and I was grateful to her, but only one thing could pull me back to normal now. „Just think about my proposal. I know you're worried about Maya, we all are, but just think about it, ok?“ Hannah said to me as she drove me back to the hospital. „Yeah, I will.“ I said back to her. She hugged me tight „Hang in there, and call if you need anything.“ „Thanks, Hannah.“ I said hugging her back before leaving the car. Walking back inside the hospital, I did think about Hannahs proposal. She was moving in with Thomas, and she wanted to leave her apartment to me. Wich wasn't a bad idea, actually. I liked the apartment, and besides, when Maya gets out of hospital, she would be more comfortable there than at the motel. And that one room has a nice big window, she would love all that natural light for her drawing. I chuckled to myself at my thoughts. Not im my wildest dreams was I expecting to be thinking of something like this, ever. But she changed me so much, she gave me hope again. She made it so that I felt like I finaly found my quiet place in all this chaos. She was the missing link I was looking for all this time. She became my everything. I entered her room with a smile for the first time after days. And I froze. Her bed was empty. It felt like my heart actually stopped beating for a moment, panic hitting at me like a truck. What happened? I was gone for a few hours, she was fine, what the fuck happened?! „Jake?“ I swallowed hard, turning my head to the sound of my name being called. My eyes swelled with tears, as hers locked with mine. In a few quick steps I came to her, carefully embracing her in a hug, burying my face to her neck. „Don't you ever scare me like this again.“ I said, unsuccessfully hiding my sobs. „I don't think my heart could take it.“ She released me from a hug, her eyes also full of tears. She rested her palm on my cheek, and I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, relieved to feel her touch again. „I knew you wouldn't leave me, that you'd come back to me.“ I said opening my eyes. She smiled at me, her voice raspy „I could never leave you. Nothing can keep me away from you.“ She kissed me then, the kiss salty from out tears. Doris sighed next to us „Oh, the young love..what a beautiful thing it is.“
Doris and me helped her back to bed and she tapped with her hand beside her for me to join. I got next to her and she rested her head on my chest. „How you feeling, angle?“ I asked her. „Tired“ she said „And in pain.“ „Don't worry, hun“ Doris said „I gave you some 'good stuff' now, it will help.“ „Thanks, Doris.“ She said with a weak smile, Doris winking at her before leaving the room. She stirred a bit, making herselff more comfortable „You won't leave, right?“ she said to me sleepily, the meds Doris gave her starting to work. „Ofcourse not“ I said, kissing the top of her head „You just rest, angel, I'll be right here when you wake up.“ She smiled and fell asleep instantly. I just stared through the window, the feeling of her steady breathing relaxing me. I felt my eyes getting heavier, and before I knew it, I too fell asleep.
Mayas POV
It was early in the morning when I woke up. I felt a bit better, but was still in a lot of pain. Jake was still sleeping. And even asleep, he looked tired, the rings under his eyes showing again. Doris entered the room, smiling at me. „Good morning, hun.“ She wispered to me as she came next to the bed checking on my IV. „'Morning.“ I said smiling back at her. She glanced at Jake „I was right about him after all.“ She said and winked at me. I chuckled silently „You sure wer, Doris.“ „Well, rest some more, hun. I'll be back shortly with your breakfast.“ She said, smiling at me again leaving the room. „What was that about?“ I turned my head, Jake looking at me sleepily.“It's not nice to eavesdrop.“ I grinned at him. „It was kinda hard not to.“ He said raising his eyebrow at me. I laughed „All right, you got a point there.“ He smiled at me, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. „It's good to see you laughing again.“ He got serious then „I'm sorry, angel.“ „What for?“ I asked. „For not being there with you.“ he said and sighed „I shouldn't have left you alone. I've let you down again.“ „Hey, that's not true.“ I said „I basicly forced you to leave, so if anyone is to be blamed, it's me then.“ „Even so, but I wasn't there.“ He said. „Jake“ I said softly, and he looked at me „Don't do this to yourself. It's not your fault this happened.“ I could see he was troubled with this. „Who is to say that the same thing wouldn't happen even if you were there?“ I asked him. „I can't, so please, don't torture yourself with 'what if's'. It happened, and I just want to move on, leave it all behind, now that it's finally over.“ He just looked at me „I don't know how you can so easily just move on.“ I sighed „Because, I don't want for it to take over my life. I want to focus on good things ahead of me, not dwell in the past.“ I placed my palm on his face and smiled at him „I want to focus on us.“ He kissed me softly, when Doris voice came from the door „Listen to her, dear, she speaks wisely.“ She said, winking at us. „She sure does, Doris.“ He said, not taking his eyes off me. She came to the bed bringing the food tray. „Now, lets get some food in you, hun. You will need it to get better.“ She said. Jake helped me to sit up, leaning on the pillow, Doris placing the tray in front of us. „I brought some extra, so there is enough for both of you.“ she said and winked at us, before leaving the room. „She sure likes you.“ he said to me as she left. I grinned at him „What to say, I'm just so darn adorable.“ He shook his head at me „And still impossible.“ I grinned even more „Even so, you still love me.“ He looked dreamily at me and smiled „More then you can imagine.“
The rest of my days in hospital passed fast. Jake was mostly with me, making sure to leave me with some kind of entertaintment when he left, either to help with Hannahs moving or for something else. He brought me his laptop, since mine got broken, with bunch of downloaded movies and books on it. Jessy also came to see me as often as she could. I was grateful for everything, but at some point all I wanted was some peace and quiet.
„Are you sure you don't want me to call Jessy to come?“ Jake asked me once more before leaving. „I'm sure“ I said „Don't worry, and don't get me wrong, but some alone time will be nice.“ „Humf, fine.“ He said „But call me if you get bored or anything and I'll be back right away.“ „I will.“ I said and smiled. He kissed me before heading for the doors. „See you soon, angel.“
With Jake gone, the room was quiet again, which was relaxing. I closed my eyes just apprieciating the silence, trying to get some sleep. But the nightmare was back. The images of what happened haunted my dreams repeatedly. Jake noticed it too, but I dismissed his worry quickly every time. He tried convincing me to talk about it with someone, anyone, even if it wasnt him, but I always said I'm fine, that it's not necessary. But he was right after all. I should.
With a sigh, I turned on the side staring through the windown, when a knock came from the doors. I turned, and laughed. A cute teddy bear holding a heart with 'Get well soon!' written on it was smiling at me from the door frame. The person holding it peeped his head behind it and grinned „Hello, gorgeous.“ „Hey, Phil.“ I smiled at him „I was worried you forgot about me.“ I said. He was the only one that hasn't visited me, at least till now. „That could never happen, gorgeous.“ He said walking over to me. „I just...waited for the right moment to come.“ He grinned sitting on the bed next to me. I laughed „So, Jessy informed you it's safe to come now, huh?“ I said raising my eyebrow at him. He grinned even more „Something like that.“ I shook my head „Well, I'm glad you came.“
„You know, my job offer still stands, gorgeous. I would still very much like you to do it.“ Phil said to me after a while. I chuckled „Can I at least get out of this place first? Then we can discuss it further.“ „Ofcours. I just wanted to let you know the offer still stands.“ He grinned devilishly and winked „Just so you don't forget about it.“ I laughed „Oh, don't worry, I never forget about the jobs being offered to me.“ „Good.“ He said and winked again. „Anyway, gorgeous, unfortunately I have to go now. Some of us don't have the luxury to lay in bed all day.“ He said getting up and grinning at me. He stood there for a moment, his face getting serious. He leaned then, embracing me in tight hug „I'm glad you're back with us, gorgeous.“ He said to my ear and kissed me on the cheek before moving from me. I smiled „Me too, Phil, me too.“ I took the teddy and grinned „And thank's for this guy.“ He grinned back „No worries, gorgeous.“ „Hello there.“ A voice sounded at the doors. Phil raised his eyebrow looking at me „Now it really is time I go.“ He smiled once more at me „Take care, gorgeous. See you soon.“ He turned and nodde at the person entering the room „Loverboy.“ Jake did the same walking towards my bed, looking extremely calm, and I was surprised. As they passed eachother, Phil stopped „Hey, loverboy?“ Jake turned to him and Phil's fist colided with his face, sending him to the floor. „Phil!“ I jumped in my bed, wincing instantly from the pain. Phil didn't even spare me a glance, he just leaned down closer to Jake „I told you to take care of her.“ Jake just looked at him, not trying to do anything. Doris bursted to the room „Phil Hawkins!“ she yelled „How dare you come to 'my house' and make a mess?!“ The two just continued to look at eachother, when Phil finaly straightened and turned to Doris with the most wide smile „Sorry, Doris.“ He said walking towards her „I owed him that.“ He gave her a quick peck on the cheek before heading for the doors „Hope I'll see you and the others soon at the Aurora.“ Doris shook her head after him „Schmack.“ She turned to Jake „You all right there, dear?“ she asked him as he got up. „I'm fine, thanks Doris.“ He said and she looked at him „Mhm, sure you are. I'm still gonna brig you some ice for that.“ She said and walked out. „I'm fine.“ Jake said to me seeing my expression. He came and sat next to me. „Thats was very unexpected of you. I was sure you would fight him back.“ I said and he looked at me a bit sad „Well, he was right.“ I sighed „Are we back to that again?“ „What? To me not looking after you? Ofcourse, I will never forgive myself for it.“ Now he sighed desperately „I'm sorry, angel, but I can't just get so easily over it. Maybe with time, but for now it still sits heavy on my shoulders.“ I saw how much all of it still bothered him, and I knew no matter what I might say he wouldn't listen. „All right“ I said after a moment „But, just promise me, you will try to let go off that. For me.“ He half smiled „I promise, angel.“ I pulled him to me for a kiss, and he winced. Doris came back giving Jake the ice pack. „Thank you , Doris.“ He said taking it from her. „You're welcome, dear.“ She said winking before leaving again. I took the ice pack from him „Come here you.“ I said and pulled him to lay next to me. Placing the pack on the spot that was really red by now and started to swell he winced again „Ouch!“. „I'm sorry.“ I said quickly and he grinned at me. „Ohh you, that was mean!“ He laughed „Sorry, angel, couldn't resist.“
„Ready to leave, hun?“ Doris asked smiling from the doors holding my discharge papers. „Definitely!“ I said cheerfuly. She came to me and hugged me „Now, hun, as much as I like you, I hope I'll never see you again.“ She moved from me and winked „At least not in here.“ I chuckled „I hope so too, Doris. And, thank you, again, for everything.“ „No need to thank me, hun.“ She turned to Jake and winked „Now, dear, you take good care of her, this one's a keeper.“ „You can say that again, Doris.“ He said back, and to the surprise of both of us, walked to her and gave her a hug. „And I also thank you for everything.“ He released her, and with glazing eyes she waved her hand at us „Oh, you two..get going now, before you get me even more teary.“ She smiled and squeezed us both on the hand before leaving the room „Take care, kids.“
Feeling the sun on my face as we stepped out from the hospital felt so good. „So, do you maybe want to go somewhere first?“ Jake asked me as we walked towards the car. „I mean, you were in there for quite a wile.“ I smiled at him „Yeah, thats true. But I still feel a bit tired. Maybe tomorrow.“ As much as I appriciated being out, I still needed to rest. But I also wasn't very eager of the thought of returning back to the motel. Not after all that happened there. He smiled back at me „As you wish, angel. We got to the apartment then.“ „Apartment? Not the motel?“ I asked surprised. „Ahm, well yeah.“ He started „I hope you don't mind, but I got all your stuff and took them to Hannah's place.“ He got a bit nervous „I mean, I am staying there now that she's moved in with Thomas. And to be honest, I thought you might feel...less uneasy there.“ I stopped walking, and he turned to look at me. „Everything all ri...“ But I didn't let him finish. I pulled him in a tight hug „Thank you. You have no idea how glad I am to hear this. I so didn't want to go back to the motel. Not after everything.“ I felt tears coming to my eyes. „I know, angel.“ He said, and a sob escaped me. Then another, and another. He hugged me tighter „It's ok, angel, everything will be fine. I've got you now.“ He just held me there in a tight hug, letting me cry on his shoulder, for as long as I needed it.
„Ohh, this room is amazing with all this natural light!“ I squealed as Jake showed me around the apartment. He chuckled „I thought you might like it. Hence that big table there.“ I turned grinning to him „You did this for me?“ „Ofcourse, angel.“ I rushed to him throwing my hands around his neck and kissing him, but winced from the pain in my shoulder. „All right, that's enough excitement for you for now.“ He said ushering me out of the room. He lead me to the couch, made me sit then lifted my feet up. „Now don't move from here unless it's really necessary.“ He said stern with a raised eyebrow. „Oh, come on, that's not needed.“ I said protestingly. He chuckled „Maybe, but just take it easy for a day or two more.“ I was about to protest again, but he looked at me, making such a puppy face that I couldn't possibly say no to him. „Argh, all right, although I feel fine, I'll do it for you.“ „Thank you, angel.“ He said and leaned to kiss me. „Now, can I get you anything? Drink, food?“ he asked and i grinned „Well, I would kill for a coffee.“ He laughed hard „Why I'm not surprised about that.“ He said standing up. „Well, since I'm not allowed to move from this spot, I hope you're ready to indulge my demands.“ I said grinning. He smiled „For you, angel, I'll do anything.“
-------------------------------------------------------------
3 MONTHS LATER
„Just come to the Aurora tonight, Jessy, I will tell you everything then.“ I said to her on the phone, as I entered the apartment. „Fine, be all secretive then.“ She said sulky. I laughed „No need for that tone, you know that won't work on me. I'm still not gonna tell you anything now.“ „Ahhh, fine! See you tonight then.“ „See you, Jessy.“ I entered the kitchen, Jake sitting at the table with his laptop. He smiled „Hey, angel.“ „Hey babe.“ I said going to him for a kiss. „How was with dr. Barret?“ he asked. „It was ok.“ I said sitting next to him. „It actualy feels good to talk about it with someone.“ I smiled „Thank you for talking me into doing it.“ „No need to thank me, angel.“ He said smiling back. I sighed „I hope it doesn't bother you that it's not you that I can talk to about it.“ He took my hand, pulling me from the chair to sit on his lap „I don't really care who you talk about it with, angel. Heck, I wouldn't care if you said you wanted to talk to Phil about it. As long as you get better.“ I laughed „Huh, you know, now that you mentioned it, they do say that barkeepers are a good listeners. So kinda close to psychiatrist.“ I tilted my head and said teasingly „It would definitely be cheeper. And beside, I'm sure Phil wouldn't mind listening to me, me being all vulnerable around him, and..“ „Ok,ok, no need to continue.“ He said quickly interupting me. „You just stick with dr. Barret.“ I laughed „Awww, babe, will you ever be at ease about Phil?“ „Probably not.“ He said thoughtfully. I smiled „Not even now, when I'm about to move in with you?“ He grinned „Not even then.“ I chuckled „You're hopeless then.“ He gave me a quick kiss. „Sooo“ he started grinning again„You think Jessy will be happy when you tell her the news about you moving here?“ „Happy?“ I said, „No, I don't think so.“ He looked confused at me, and I grinned „She will be thrilled.“
A/N: Ok, so after a short, but lovely chat with @lovingstudentangel who got a bit confused with how I ended the previous chapter, with the part of Jake visiting a grave, thinking it was the end of the story, so I want to clarifie it for her, or anyone else who might have been equaly confused. It was his mother grave that he visited, and I used that part as a clifhanger. I hope all is in the clear now :)

Mun Salt | 🍵 what's a minor RP pet peeves of yours ? 😗
listen to my salty opinions ; accepting
alright, i think ive been rping long enough to have a few rp pet peeves that are relatively minor but still annoying as shit.
i realize no one follows reblog karma anymore, and that everyone basically reblogs from the source nowadays, but boy is it annoying and obvious when youre the first one to reblog a meme, and everyone reblogs it from the source cuz they saw you post it, and not only does no one send anything to you, but also sometimes youll have moments in the rpc where barely anyone will send anyone anything. ok i get it i get it i get it, i am not entitled to other people's time to put an ask in my inbox and also neither should anyone be entitled of my time all the same, and that not every meme is gonna work for everyone mun and sometimes you legit have nothing to say/send but....roleplay is a social hobby, its really disheartening when you reblog an interaction meme or a meme looking for feedback and everyone sees it, because everyone reblogs it from the source via you, but no one bothers to send eachother stuff. like im trying to solicit interaction on my blog pleASE-- i try my very best to send stuff into people though i know i could be better because i do spend long periods of time away from the dash and end up losing track of a lot of the memes people post, but when i see a meme on the dash that i wanna reblog that was reblogged by another rper, i try to send something. when i see a mun posting a meme that takes 2 seconds to send a symbol/prompt, i try to do that. because i want people to know its okay to send me stuff, because i know a lot of it has to do with anxiety. so i cant blame people too much. hence why its a minor pet peeve.
hmm....another minor rp pet peeve of mine is when people obviously just skimmed your bio and make assumptions about your character or their backstory or stuff such as that. now this is not the same as figuring out shit about a character and asking questions, sometimes you want clarification/details on a certain aspect of a character's bio, i encourage people ask me to elaborate on details in my bio and rules! no ,its when people say stuff like 'dug their nails into the soft skin of vali's back' when...hes got a literal armored wing carapace on his back its def not soft and your nails would have a hard time breaking through the chitin plating without breaking unless you got extremely hard, sharp nails. or people assuming vali is tall, which is kinda funny to me because it tells me vali gives the impression hes tall, hes got Tall Energy in a SHort Body, again, a minor thing, but still annoying. or when people assume things about vali's personality -- now, i have no issue with characters making assumptions about vali, in fact it creates interesting conflict, vali is meant to subvert many of the ideas people inititally form about him, but when you as the mun are making really reaching assumptions about what my muse would do and how they would interact? thats a touch too far. its like godmodding but ooc godmodding lol. one of the worst examples i can think of, is assuming my character would be okay with master/slave f*tish rp because of my character's back story as a slave who rose to power. that was some bullshit.
and the last minor pet peeve of the night: when people refuse to use hard block. honestly i dont get the point of softblocking someone you dont want to interact with your blog. i think its because people think that hard blocking is too 'harsh' or 'personal' but honestly, at this point? its 2021 be fucking ruthless with your space. hard block people who you dont want interacting with you, it doesnt even have to be because they are bad people or whatever, if its some stranger you dont even know, whose annoying you, or you just dont like their posts, or you dont wanna rp with them, go ahead and block! its your space baby! a lot of problems get solved when you just hard block instead of soft blocking. soft blocking is for clearing out inactive blogs from your following list, so they may return whenever they want. if you truly do not want someone to interact or come onto your page again, block them for real

Chapter 1 here we go!!!
Ben ran. His heart pounded and his lungs ached as he sprinted through the market toward the harbor. This was his last chance. Princess Dana was the last eligible match for him and he didn’t like her. And he took his father’s threat - “So help me, if you don’t like this one, I will choose a woman for you!” - very seriously. So, his only choice was to escape.
He leapt over a cart of cabbages and skidded to a halt.
“Watch it!” the cabbage merchant warned.
“Sorry,” Ben said.
He wasn’t accustomed to being spoken to so harshly, but he had disguised himself well. He was in his worst clothes, with no jewelry, and had mussed up his hair. He didn’t look anything like a prince. He glanced back the way he came, and breathed a sigh of relief. He wasn’t being followed.
He took a moment to scan the harbor and find out which ships were leaving. It didn’t matter where they were going, he was getting on it. He spotted a ship at the very end of the row which was being loaded by several men that appeared to be crew members. Ben looked back once more for good measure. With dread, he saw palace guards.
“Damn,” he hissed, and took off toward the ship, hoping they hadn’t caught sight of him.
He approached slowly. He couldn’t reveal himself to be a runaway or they might not take him. The first crewman he saw was actually not a crewman at all. It was a woman. She was strong and tall, but with a soft, delicate face, tanned from the sunny days at sea.
“Excuse me,” Ben began, and she faced. “Is there room on your ship for one more?”
She looked him up and down.
“No,” she said flatly.
Ben winced and looked over his shoulder. The guards were getting closer.
“Please,” he continued. “It wouldn’t be permanent, I just need a ride out of here.”
“Ari, is this guy bothering you?” said another crewman as they approached.
Ben quickly realized he was mistaken before. All the people loading this ship were women.
The woman he first spoke to - Ari - shrugged. “Not really. Just needs a ride. No need to fret, Kay.”
Kay was short and thin, with her hair cropped almost to her scalp. She put her wide brimmed hat on and glared suspiciously at Ben.
“We don’t take men on our ship,” she said sternly. “It’s bad luck.”
Ben raised an eyebrow. He had always heard the opposite. But then again, that was from ships with crews of men. Perhaps having a mixed ship at all was what brought bad luck.
“As I told your friend here, it wouldn’t be permanent,” he said. “I really just need to get away from these shores.”
He looked back again at the steadily approaching guards. They were buying him time since they were stopping to ask so many people. Ari and Kay exchanged a look.
“Are you in trouble for something?” Ari asked.
“Uh, yeah,” Ben said hesitantly. “You’re the only ship that’s leaving this morning. Please.”
“Now that’s something we understand,” Ari said. “Come on, let’s go speak to the captain.”
“Ari!” Kay cried in protest. “He - he’s - he’s a he!”
“I know, but he’s in a pinch,” Ari said. “We may be pirates, but we’re not heartless.”
Ben stopped dead. “Hold on. Pirates?!”
“Duh,” Kay said, rolling her eyes. She pointed to the mast. “Black sails, genius.”
Ben followed the direction of her finger and saw that she was right. He had totally missed the black sails. It seemed foolish now since they stuck out against the bright blue sky. But this was his only chance.
“Hope you’re not scared,” Kay mocked.
He shot her a glare. “I’m not scared!”
“Prove it,” she returned.
He straightened his shoulders and followed Ari. Kay walked behind him, and he could feel her smirking. He braced himself for whoever this captain may be. He knew now that it would be a woman, but what would she be like? Probably unlike any woman he had ever met before.
As he boarded, everyone on deck turned eyes on him. He gulped. These women looked fierce. Mean, even. Especially with the myriad of weapons hanging off each person. He was intimidated. They began to whisper as he passed.
Ari led him over to the captain’s quarters. He took a deep breath to calm himself while she knocked three times on the hard, wooden door.
“Yes?” came a smoky voice from within.
“Captain Behati?” Ari said. “We need your approval for something.”
“Can it wait?” the captain returned. “I’m busy.”
“Unfortunately, there’s a time limit,” Ari replied.
Ben was startled at how quickly the door was snatched open. There stood a tall, beautiful woman, with deep, dark skin. Her hair was twisted into locks that trailed all the way down to the small of her back. Her eyes were a rich brown that reminded Ben of cocoa. Her demeanor was regal and commanding. When she spotted him, he took a step back.
“What is this?” she snapped. “A man on my ship?”
“He’s in trouble with the law,” Ari said. “Could we give him a lift?”
Behati looked intently at him. “A lift where?”
“Dunno,” Ben shrugged. “Just anywhere but here.”
“Give me a reason to help you,” she said.
“I’ve got gold,” he told her. “Lots of it.”
“Now you’re speaking my language, boy,” she laughed. It was a pleasant sound, and he relaxed. “How much do you have on you?”
He dug his coin pouch out of his knapsack and tossed it to her. “Take as much as you like.”
Her eyes roved over him skeptically. “You’re awfully confident - and careless - with your money.”
“Money doesn’t matter much to me,” he said.
In truth, Ben fully intended to find his way back to his home. He just needed his parents to understand - he couldn’t marry someone he didn’t love. Especially these princesses who were duller than sand and had no sense of adventure. They all droned on about being ready to settle down and have children, but that wasn’t what Ben wanted right now. He wanted a partner, who would travel the world with him, who wanted to see more beyond the society she already knew.
He looked back to the harbor and saw the approaching guards.
“Really need a decision here, Captain,” he said.
She glanced over and saw them as well. “The gold will do. Hide below deck.”
He hurried to obey, led by Ari. It was much darker down there, since the only light came from the sun peeking through the cracks between the boards. But it also meant he could listen. He heard the guards march up onto the ship and come to a short stop.
“We’re looking for someone,” said a guard. “A young man. He’s needed for duties at home.”
“There are no men allowed on my ship,” Behati spat back. “I suggest you disembark as well.”
“You haven’t seen anyone?” the guard pressed.
“No, now remove yourself,” she ordered. “Before I change my mind about killing you.”
“Y-you wouldn’t dare,” the guard returned.
Ben heard the swish of a sword being drawn. He guessed it was Behati’s since he heard the heavy boots of the soldiers shuffle backward.
“You can’t even imagine the things I’d dare to do, soldier,” she said. “Get off my ship. We’re leaving.”
There was a moment’s hesitation and then they all paraded off. When the last of the steps started to die down, Ben went to poke his head out. Behati grabbed his face and forced him back down.
“Stay there until we’re out of sight, fool,” she hissed. “They may be watching.”
Ben frowned, but did as she said.
He heard the crew women putting everything in order for the departure. It was still another half hour before they were moving, though. It was a slow, steady pace to get out of the harbor. Ben peeked out from the canon holes to see their progress. With a twinge of fear, they were away from the harbor, and he was outside of his father’s rule. On the other hand, it also meant he was outside of his father’s protection.
Ari retrieved him when he was permitted to emerge. The sun was bright and the breeze was cooling. The salty sea air whipped his hair and coat around.
“What’s your name, by the way?” Ari asked politely.
“Um, it’s Eric,” he lied.
The last thing he needed to do was reveal his true name to a bunch of pirates. He’d become a ransom so fast his head would spin.
“Okay, Eric,” she said. “Why were palace guards looking for you?”
“Am I really to be subjected to interrogations from pirates?” he challenged. “It’s my business.”
She put her hands up innocently and raised her eyebrows. “Just making conversation.”
With that, she walked away, going to help Kay with some of her work. Ben went to the starboard side, toward the bow, and rested his elbows on the ledge, looking out. The open water, with nothing around for miles, looked like freedom to him.
“Hey, boy!” Behati called, and he turned to face her. She pushed some rope into his hands. “If you’re staying, you’re working. We’re not a cruise ship.”
He smiled. “Yeah, alright.”
She scoffed and shook her head. “Just get started.”
“Can I ask you something?” he wondered.
“You can, but I’m under no obligation to answer you,” she returned with a smirk.
“Fair,” he conceded. “But, where exactly are we going?”
“Where we’re always going,” she said. “To find the sea witch.”
Ben blinked. “I’m sorry - the sea witch?!”
***
“Come on, Lorelai, don’t be such a guppy!” you teased.
She swam on behind you and frowned when she caught your eye.
“I’m not a guppy!” she insisted, tail flicking with indignation. “I just don’t see why you’re so obsessed with shipwrecks.”
“They’re the only exciting things that happen here!” you said. “What else do we do?”
“Plenty!” she insisted. “Most of it safely away from human nonsense!”
“You sound like my father,” you groaned, rolling your eyes.
“Well, King Triton is a smart man, Y/N, maybe you should listen to him.”
You ignored her and kept swimming. This shipwreck was fairly new, but it was close to the shore, which made it dangerous. At least for you. For the humans aboard, it usually meant they survived and returned to land safely. For you to approach it meant it was easier for humans to spot you.
As you and Lorelai got closer, you reverted to sign language. All merpeople followed this practice when approaching shallow waters. To avoid detection by humans, remaining silent was necessary. Especially around a shipwreck. Treasure hunters lingered, and a real live mermaid would be viewed as a greater treasure than all the gold in the world.
You swam through one of the portholes and into the ship. There was rarely anything of interest on the deck of an old ship. Mostly just split wood. The humans always kept their things below. You went first to a pile of things that shone. You had a few friends who had interacted with humans before, and you sometimes asked them to identify things for you. According to them, humans used these utensils to eat.
Fascinating! You signed to Lorelai.
It was her turn to roll her eyes.
You moved on together after you stuffed one of the items in your bag.
The next thing you found was what appeared to be jewelry. It was a necklace, but it wasn’t made from anything you had ever seen before. All your jewelry was made from pearls, but this gem was shinier. It was completely reflective, like glass. But it wasn’t see-through.
What do you suppose this is? You signed.
You looked up to see Lorelai’s expression. She wasn’t paying attention. Her eyes were turned upward, where a shadow was approaching. The wide shape with the pointed end was all you needed to know. A ship was coming. And that meant you had to get out of here fast.
Lorelai started out, heading back the way you had entered. She flinched back when something whizzed past her and lodged into the ocean floor beneath the ship. A thick rope was in front of her, taut. She shot you a terrified glance. Humans were here.
You both swam hard back toward the porthole, racing for the safety of deeper water. Only, another harpoon came hurtling down. You watched with horror as it snagged Lorelai’s braid, pinning her down. You flew to her side and tried to tug the weapon free, to no avail.
“Y/N!” she cried, panic making her forget the sign language protocol. “Go get something to cut me free!”
“Right!” you returned, and bolted back inside.
You returned to the utensils and looked wildly around. There had to be something strong enough to cut rope down here. You grinned when you spotted a dagger - still sheathed - in the corner of the room. Snatching it up, you hurried back to Lorelai.
You came back in time just to hear her scream as the harpoon was being drawn back up toward the surface. You swam determinedly to her, faster than the harpoon was moving. Whipping out the dagger, you brought it down hard against the rope.
That didn’t work. It bounced, forcing your arm back much to your surprise. You looked between the dagger and the rope, astonished.
“Y/N, hurry!” Lorelai urged.
“I’ll have to cut your hair!” you cried.
“I don’t care, just get me out of here, we’re almost to the surface!”
It was a struggle to keep swimming and grab her braid in one hand with the dagger in the other. You brought the sharp end to the side of her braid and began sawing at the strands. It was a bit sad - Lorelai had such beautiful turquoise hair - but you couldn’t think about that now. Hair could grow back. If a fisherman caught her, she would be gone forever.
“Y/N!” she sobbed as you began rapidly approaching the surface.
If you broke through, it would mean trouble.
“I’m almost done!” you assured her.
You could feel the heat of the sun. You pushed hard with the knife through the final strands of the braid and the tension broke. She was free.
You couldn’t celebrate just yet. Taking her hand, you tugged her back down into the depths with you. As fast as you could go, you hurried away from the ship. Fisherman had all sorts of contraptions beyond harpoons, and you weren’t sure you’d be so lucky again. So, you weren’t waiting around. You and Lorelei swam and swam and swam until your abdomens ached with the effort. There was no sign of the fishermens’ ship.
You came to a stop, panting. Lorelai still had tears in her wide eyes. Without a word, you embraced each other and let out your relief. You held her as she cried. It was such a close call, you understood her fear. You were just as afraid, but you wanted to be strong for her.
“Do you see why they’re so dangerous, Y/N?” she sniffled. “Humans just want to hurt us.”
“Be fair, Lo,” you replied gently. “There are good ones. Like Captain Behati.”
“She’s just a legend!” Lorelai snapped. “I know it’s all interesting to you but look what almost happened! I could have been caught!”
“I’m sorry,” you said earnestly. “But I just think if we all understood each other, we could co-exist!”
She narrowed her eyes at you.
“If that wasn’t a wake up call, Y/N, then I don’t even know what to do with you,” she said.
With that, she turned tail and stormed off. You watched her fins disappear around a reef with a sigh.
In all honesty, you didn’t believe most humans to be these evil creatures on the hunt for merpeople. Fishermen were usually just looking for fish. Lorelai was just - quite literally - caught in the crossfire. In fairness to Lorelai, she wouldn’t have been there if it weren’t for you insisting she come with you to explore. You headed home, prepared to apologize.
On your way, you stopped by your cove. It was the place you kept all the human stuff you found. The only people who knew about it were you and Lorelai. As your best friend, she had vowed to keep your secret, even if she didn’t understand.
This was the one place you felt free. Free to be yourself and explore your interests. Surrounded by all these human artifacts - books, utensils, figurines, and so much more - was where you were authentically you.
Your favorite thing to do was tinker. Human objects did such wondrous things. You weren’t sure how everything worked, and plenty of things were damaged beyond repair, but every time you made a discovery, it sent such a thrill of joy through you that made you do flips. How could humans be so bad if they made things that created such joy?
You spent a few hours in your solace before returning to the palace. Lorelai needed time to cool off before she would be able to accept your apology. Plus, you were certain word had gotten out about what happened, and you had to mentally prepare yourself for the lecture you were going to get from your father.
You went willingly to the throne room first. You peered around the corner through the door and spotted your father already seated there. He was twirling his trident between his fingers, which you knew to be a sign of irritation. He must know. You decided to play dumb anyway.
“Hello, Father,” you greeted brightly as you swam up. “I’m looking for Lorelai. Have you see-”
“Y/N, what is wrong with you?!” he cried, exasperated. “Why must you always go looking for trouble?”
“I - what do you mean?” you returned innocently.
“You know very well what I mean, young lady!” he shouted. “You took Lorelai to that shipwreck and nearly got her captured by humans!”
You sighed.
“In fairness, I didn’t know the fishermen would show up,” you said.
“That’s your argument?!” he returned. “Are you serious, Y/N?!”
“But I -”
“I don't want to hear any more out of you!” he cut across you. “You know the rules. Only those with permission to do so may make contact with humans. And only out of necessity! And last time I checked, you’re not on that list! You are forbidden from going to any more shipwrecks!”
You folded your arms across your chest defiantly.
“I didn’t make contact on purpose!” you argued. “Besides, we got away! Everything was fine! You can’t punish me for a close call!”
“Oh, yes I can!”
“No you can’t!” you insisted. “I’m a grown woman now, Father! I don’t have to take your orders if I don’t want to!”
“Well, then, if you will not respect my authority as your father, perhaps you will understand the law of the sea,” he warned. “No one is to approach shipwrecks as long as they live under my ocean! And no one has permission to contact humans under ANY circumstances! You may be my daughter, but you are also my subject, so the laws still apply to you!”
Your mouth fell open.
“That’s not fair, I -”
“It is perfectly fair!” he interrupted again. “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep my merpeople safe! I will not have another incident like today!”
“But nothing -”
“Nothing happened this time!” he said. “It is unlikely we will be that fortunate again! Now, leave me! You have a friend you owe an apology to.”
You huffed and turned your back to him. You swam out and toward Lorelai’s house. Your father was right about that last part. The rest of it, you absolutely did not agree with. It felt like he was throwing his weight around as king to punish you. You knew that going to shipwrecks was risky, but it wasn’t inherently bad, nor did it always mean interaction with humans. In fact, today was the only time you had experienced that, and you’d been going through shipwrecks for years.
You knocked softly on Lorelai’s door.
“Lo?” you said. “It’s me.”
The door swung open and she appeared there.
“Hey,” she said.
“Look, I’m so sorry about earlier,” you said. “I should never have put you in danger like that, and I feel terrible about it. Are you okay?”
She nodded as a small smile claimed her lips.
“Yeah,” she said. “Still a little shaken, but I’m alright. If you hadn’t been there, I would have been a goner.”
“You wouldn’t have been there if I hadn’t nagged you into coming along,” you returned. “The point is, I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
“Apology accepted,” she said. “How’d your father handle it?”
“It was terrible!” you told her.
You explained what he said and the new rules. She looked sympathetically at you.
“I know it’s hard, Y/N, but honestly it’s for the best,” she said. “Everyone will be much safer if we keep to ourselves.”
You decided it was better not to argue. You said goodbye and promised to stop by the next day to check on her. She really did seem okay. Frustrated and annoyed, you headed back to your collection cove. You needed to cool down after so much arguing.
Relieved to be alone and in your happy place, you relaxed against the center stone that served as your chair. You looked around at your glittering collection. Yes, you had plenty of things here, but you wanted more. There was so much still to learn and explore. There was still room on the shelves for human things. There was still something missing.
You looked up toward the surface. A whole world existed up there. Something foreign and intriguing and adventurous. So much more out there than what you had in the familiar corners of the ocean. You had to see it somehow.
The cove had a tunnel that led all the way up to the surface. You liked to watch the waves rise and fall and reflect the sunlight. Looking up there always made you so hopeful. Even though your father had made these silly rules, you still hoped that someday you would find your way to the human world and experience it for yourself.
As you watched the water, another shadow appeared. A ship. Something was different about this one. It gave you a new feeling, something stronger than any other ship you had seen before - not that there were many. Curiosity, as well as defiance of your father, drove you to push yourself upward and start swimming toward the forbidden free air. Your tail pushed the water and you began to leave the sea behind.
When you broke the surface, you sucked in a mouthful of air. You liked the air more than most merfolk. It was liberating to you to leave the water.
You realized you were mistaken earlier about the reflection on the water. The sun had gone down and the moon was hanging low in the sky. A ship with black sails was gliding through the waves. You followed it.
You saw the low lights from the ship shining on the inky water, and considered how mysterious the depths of it must be to the humans aboard. You swam closer, but stopped when you heard a shout from someone on deck. Holding your breath, you waited for something to happen. When you saw them dropping the anchor, you heaved a sigh of relief. They had not seen you.
Taking your life into your hands, you went even closer. You could hear them speaking now. You took hold of one of the ropes hanging down the side and began to climb it. There was a ledge where you could sit and peek through an opening. You bit your lip to keep yourself from grunting as you heaved yourself up.
It was the first time you had ever completely been out of water. It felt odd to be so dry, but you were excited. Your heart pounded, even faster than it had earlier during the attack with the harpoons. This was not something you were afraid of. It was thrilling.
You carefully took a seat on the ledge and slid as close as you dared. Turning slowly, you peered in, observing the group of humans gathered on the deck.
To your surprise, they were all women, except one. The man’s appearance struck you. He was beautiful to look at, with a strong jaw, a wide smile, and bright blonde hair. You watched him take a seat beside a tall woman, who had her arm around the thin one beside her.
“So, why does Captain Behati want to hunt the sea witch?” asked the man. “I didn’t think people believed in things like that.”
“If you’re going to be at sea, you better understand that believing in those things is a part of life,” said the tall woman. “Captain Behati hunts the sea witch because she must.”
“Why?” the man pressed. “What’s so important about it?”
“To break the curse,” the small woman answered. “You see, the captain was taken from her home by slavers, who were taking her to some foreign land, to sell her to people she had never seen.”
“She made a daring escape,” the tall woman continued. “Only, she was still in chains, and couldn’t swim. She was sinking slowly, slowly, until she saw...her.”
“Who?” the man asked.
“The sea witch,” the small woman said irritably. “Sycoria.”
“Sycoria told Behati she would give her the freedom she so desperately desired,” the tall one added. “But it came with a price. The captain could never set foot on land again. If she does, she will turn to dust, and her soul will belong to Sycoria.”
The man blinked with surprise. You were also a bit shocked at the story. You knew of Sycoria and the games she played with people’s lives, how she prayed on desperation, but you had no idea the legendary Captain Behati was one of her victims. Captain Behati was something of a myth among merpeople. Some claimed to have seen her and interacted with her, but officially, she was just a rumor. To realize you were on her ship was unbelievable. And you almost cursed because you could never tell anyone you had done this.
“That’s terrible,” the man said.
You liked the sound of his voice. It was deep and smooth. It reminded you of sunsets.
“That’s why we hunt her,” the tall woman said. “Kill the witch, and the spell is broken.”
“But why even return to land?” the man wondered. “Won’t she just be taken again?”
The women all laughed.
“Oh, you silly boy,” said the small one. “I’d like to see a man try to take Captain Behati prisoner now. She will kill him before he can even speak.”
Even though you still had not seen Captain Behati, you liked her. She clearly had the respect of her crew, and she was a force to be reckoned with. As powerful as the ocean herself.
Suddenly, there was a loud BANG. A flash appeared from a ways down the water. Another ship was nearing. Were you about to be caught in a much more serious crossfire?
