that soriku and the little mermaid gifset is killing me bc like
we have parallels between all the disney princess couples in the games and soriku???? i think??????? not just one but ALL?????????
like
snow white: probably weakest, but snow white ‘dead’ (asleep) and the prince saving her with love (ddd)
cinderella: also weaker but uhhhhh at the very least theres fairy godmother sending cinderella off to the ball to fufill her dream (MoM). and prince charming desperately looking for her is kinda?? soras journey in the first few games?????
sleeping beauty: ditto only true loves kiss breaking the spell (ddd) and also, aurora having a connection to prince phillip through her dreams (ddd/re:mind)
the little mermaid: ariel wants to leave the ocean and go explore another world. followed by eric looking for her, but shes been rEPLACED BY SOMEONE ELSE (VANESSA AKA NAMINE) WHOS USING SOMETHING OF HERS TO DISGUISE THEMSELF (ARIELS VOICE AKA THE METEOR SHOWER MEMORY) OH SHIT I JUST REALIZED THIS RIGHT AS IM TYPING THIS OUT WAIT WAIT HHOLD ON oOKAY okay im good im good now.  and then heres the gifset that started this all of course (kh2/re:coded)
beauty and the beast: right here babey! (kh1/kh2/ddd/com) + also this (chi)
aladdin: jasmine rebelling and sneaking out of the palace to go see the world. and this is from tvtropes but, ‘When Sora calls out for Riku after the second battle with the Parasite Cage, the staging of the scene is identical to when Aladdin called out for Jasmine after defeating Jafar in Agrabah: the Hero frantically calling out for their Love Interest as the room collapses around them while their allies drag them to safety.’ theres probably more with them but idk and its 4:30 am as i type this (kh1) ETA: aladdin and jasmine are directly compared to sora and riku in recom!
mulan: here + here >:^) (kh2 novel/ddd)
tangled: rapunzel wanting to leave her tower to see the world (kh3 novel) + this, after eugene is brought back to life with the power of true love (ddd)
and then frozen world doesnt even HAVE a couple BUT it does have anna and elsa! who are DIRECTLY compared to sora and riku!!! using the word love in english!!!! and the word used previously to describe rikus precious person in japanese (taisetsu)!!!!!!  here + here + multiple taisetsu links here
also uh???? anna frozen in ice??? sora frozen if you lose the yozora fight in re:mind???? hello???????????
ETA: okay wait there are some kristoff and anna parellels i forgot about/didnt think about IRT soriku LOL
Tumblr media
(thank you @nobodyriku)
literally the only disney princess couples (from the official disney princess lineup) that arent paralleled with soriku are pocahontas and (blech) john smith, and tiana and naveen. and thats bc those worlds arent in the games.
and HONORABLE MENTION goes to herc and megara. like even besides the taisetsu parallels, in the original movie theres herc diving into the river styx to save megaras soul.
you know. like sora literally breaking time and space to save his friends, which starts with him following rikus light through the tunnel. where it kind of looks like hes swimming through water?????
and riku is the first one he finds
in. olympus.
Tumblr media
like. do you see this. are we all seeing this. because holy moley, when you put it all together, its a lot

For the book ask thing: 1, 17, 22, 25, 35, and 47
Thank u tuser sparklestheunicorn for giving me something to do today! Answers are below the cut because this post is way longer than I thought it'd be.
send me a number and i'll answer the correlating question
1. Name the best book you've read so far this year. It would have to be Babel by RF Kuang. It took me two months to get through the first half, but once the ball got rolling the whole story utterly captivated me. If you're looking for a deeply intellectual read that combines geopolitical history, linguistics, and integrative fantasy worldbuilding, Babel might be for you!
17. Favorite finished book series. Trying desperately hard not to seem basic but the original Percy Jackson series has had an ironclad grip on me for over ten years. Although, now that I think about it, I don't know if we can consider PJO a finished series, so I'll also submit the Hunger Games and the Six of Crows duology for holding a place of equal importance in my heart.
22. Favorite example of a Chosen One trope in a book I gotta give it to either Percy Jackson or Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings. Prophecy/fate might have chosen them to some extent, but each character chose to accept it and the responsibility that came along with it. That's just *chef's kiss* a satisfying narrative arc babey.
25. Favorite Middle Grade book(s). Ok if we just set the Percy Jackson series to the side because obviously it's going to win in every category, I was very fond of the Hardy Boys: Undercover Brothers series. Like, one of my core memories involves going to my local library and picking up a stack of those books. I could read two/three a day, and I read every single book in the series multiple time.
35. Least favorite trope in your most favorite book genre. My favorite book trope is fantasy. My least favorite trope would have to be giving a character physical/mental disability and then immediately negating it via magic—or, more broadly, actions not having correlating consequences. I think that's why stories like the Poppy War or How to Train Your Dragon or Lord of the Rings have had such a profound impact on my psyche. Characters make choices that have long-lasting consequences—Rin loses one of her arms, Hiccup loses his leg, Frodo never mentally or physically recovers from the burden of carrying the Ring.
47. What are the last three books you read? Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, Letter to the American Church by Eric Metaxas, and The Stolen Heir by Holly Black.

ok that said i find things to like in every show i see. which is important to me because it makes me a better critic with a capacity for grace in my assesments. So here's the good things:
Aaron is great. So is Sahr and Danny Burstein's replacement Eric Anderson.
Obviously the set is amazing. Many people are dismissive when they go "yeah the set is cool but that's it". It is important to remember that scenic design IS art that people dedicate their life to. I refuse to be dismissive about it. Because not only are you thinking about the space, etc. You are also thinking about how you serve the story which was done well here. (That said the set for the show within the show was literally a backdrop? So disappointing this is supposed to be their grand thing).
The choice to add diamonds are forever was really smart. (Then they ruined it but I digress). The bad Romance/Toxic sequence was also a treat. And smart usage because that scene is just supposed to be a huge sequence in rehearsal for the show its a good point to plug something like that in. Rolling in the Deep was very effective. And also they did the whole song which goes to my issue about them not letting songs breathe
Lady Marmalade and the opening is spectacular. A treat. I must say i LOOVVEEE a good can can.
I liked that they made Satine and Ziddler closer and that they had a love for each other. Making Ziddler gay was a great move too.
They reduced his friends and made them SO much less annoying. Sahr got some of the best book scenes of the evening.
ROXANNE. BABEY. ROXANNE. MR sort of operates on the fantasy of what it is like to be in love. The point is that love affairs arent actually like this but they FEEL like this. Which is why it plays in tropes purposefully. And this was the sole moment where I felt that heightened amount of cheesy emotion and actually felt that fantasy. And Aaron tore that song a new one let me tell you.
i get to look at hot people

🌌, 🤥, 👪, and 🎂 for Zakai please! I love her. Count me amoung her simps!! -simp anon
Glad to hear that. Zakai is babey (read: a mass murderer) and I love her (read: am also a simp)!
🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
Zakai's inspiration, actually, was countless Reibert x fem readers from Wattpad! I even gave her a story back then, but it wasn't great jdndkmd. She ended up very very similar to Ymir, a mix between her and Annie. Nowadays, she's much more complex but she was essentially Ymir with long hair + Annie's personality hfndknd
🤥 LYING - are they good liars? do they have tells to show they're lying?
Zakai is an exceptional liar, having spent her formative years on Paradis and having to lie her way through just to survive. Well, more specifically knowing when and when not to add in half truths. As she ages, she develops one tell and thats specifically that she'll look away from people. But during her time on Paradis, she doesn't really have any tells.
👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?
Zakai's family is very close knit for the most part. Lore and Eric raised their children to mostly tell the truth. Well, to one another anyways. When it comes to "outsiders", the family is very secretive and dismissive. However, Zakai extended that to her family after she came back from Paradis. Zakai is closest to Soren and Adele, her relationship most strained with Valentina and Lucien. Throughout the entire family unit is a sense of fierce protectiveness, except between Adele and the Reitz siblings (and their parents) and between Zakai and Lucien.
🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE - when is their birthday? do they like celebrating it?
Zakai's birthday is October 31st! Halloween itself. Zakai is very closed off about when her birthday is, it takes a bit for people to ever figure out when her birthday is in fact. The 104th only find out because Reiner manages to get her something and gives it to her in front of everyone (his personal "fuck you" because she is a Bitch to him for awhile)
You can find the ask game here!

REVIEW
I loved this episode :D! I thought it was really great :). It had some good drama but not too much, wasn't too hard to watch at any point lol, and all the storylines were nice :D. Not just oh, a passive nice, but like, good lol. And honestly besides Morgan, we got a pretty good spread of focus, if not plot. Like everyone was still around mainly, even if they didn't have their own storyline going on, and we still saw Morgan :D. Next up for least was Lim and we still saw her quite a bit :). Anyway! The cases were great, and interesting, and everything tied together nicely :D. Even though they mostly weren't really related, I just think they all worked in the episode together :).
Now! Onto the individual parts :D.
First off, Morgan, I missed you 🥰🥰. We didn't get to see her much this episode, but she was a queen, as always :D xD! Her one moment was amazing lol. And it stuck in my head, though it could be partially due to it being the only time we saw her. Eh, anyway :).
Also, I miss Jerome <33, but speaking of nurses, nice to see Hawkes :D! I noticed her when Danny was running past and was kinda like ay :), but her bit at the end was really sweet 😭🥰. Love her :)! But yeah I do miss Jerome lol xD <33. Waiting for my babey to return from the war <3. Not that he hasn't been around a bit but yk lol.
Andrews real quick! He was around for a bit, but mostly he was just supporting others :). I'm glad he thought of Jordan for that meeting :D, and him supporting Perez (for a different kind of meeting LOL) was really sweet to see too :'). Love him, he was great ❤️.
Lim :)). We didn't see her toooo much this episode, but she was great in what we did see :D. I'm glad she made sure Jordan stayed out of it for the most part (stayed out for the most part not glad for the most part) - someone had to lol. I do wish she'd given Jordan a little more time to explain what happened in the muffin scene, but I didn't mind too much. It all worked out in the end :). Also, Lim was as always, amazing at her job 🥰🥰. I love her :DD.
Asher! My boy and his tea-seeking behaviors this episode xD. But, he did amazing work and he had some good funny moments lol. I really liked his scenes with Jordan, as per usual lol - they're my besties your honor :)). Not literally mine, but, yk xD. And like I said, I just find it hilarious when he's literally always 👀 XD. I love him <33.
Park :)! I really loved him this episode :D. We don't often get to see him working with kids (not that I can think of off of the top of my head, but at least not recently I think) so that was really nice :)). He was just so sweet, and good with that kid too <3. Unfortunately I do not remember the kid's name lol. And he was of course amazing at his job :). I'm glad they caught that the kid didn't need chemo! Also, that thing he said about learning to work with other people's view points was really good :)). I loved it 🥰.
Glassman! Aww 😭🥰. Luckily this episode was not as awkward as I feared xD. I loved him this episode, but I am glad he's moving out lol. If only down the hall xd. And honestly, I get why he was doing that stuff. He shouldn't have been, but it was a nice distraction. And, in my opinion, I think it's also a bit of not getting the chance to be a grandfather biologically, and also just, kids in general, you know? It's been a long time since he's had a kid of his own :( <3. There's Shaun, so it's not a totally left behind thing, but he didn't raise Shaun from being a baby. Still, I'm glad he saw what needed to happen and did it, if in a bit of a different way than expected xd. Also that hug scene with Shaun was just 😭😭 AUGH so adorable <333.
Perez! He was great this episode :D. I really liked his plot :). And that running sequence was HILARIOUS lol xD. All his scenes with planning/holding the NA meeting were super sweet :'DD. It was really nice to see him stepping into that leadership position :)). I just really enjoyed it honestly :D. And he was of course good at his job. I love him 🥰❤️.
Lea :D! I loved her 🥰🥰. We didn't actually see her that much, now tha to think about it lol, but she was great when she did :). Despite being a big part of one of the main plots, she was honestly providing a lot of comic relief this episode lol. I mean, it stemmed from her annoyance and such, but yk xD. She had some really great moments lol. Also feeling bad but still wanting him gone is a mood lol! I'm excited to see where everything continues from here with Glassman still kind of around, lol.
Shaun time! He was so adorable in a lot of his scenes, especially that hug with Glassman 😭🥰. And I'm glad he stood up for Lea's needs :)). Also, he was amazing at his job, as always lol. Anyway, seeing him learn about parenting from Park was also amazing :'D. He was just really great this episode! His scenes with Glassman were good, his scenes with Lea were good, and his scenes working on the case were good :)). He could've been a bit more chill with Danny lol, but it wasn't too bad :). And again, he was super cute throughout most of the episode :D. I love him 🥰🥰.
Jordan! She was amazing this episode :'DD. Her scenes with her grandma were sweet sometimes, and sad others, but I'm glad they managed to heal that part of their relationship, and she can start to fix that doubt in herself :). Plus she was great at her job, like coming up with the technique to help save her grandmother :D. And I'm so happy she decided to do the meeting at the end - she deserves it 🥰🥰. But yeah, her issues with her grandmother were so sad 😭😭. Just seeing her frustration, her pain, when all she wanted to do was make her grandma proud and hear her say it - auogh 😭😭💔❤️❤️. But, I'm glad they worked it out :')). And yeah, again, she was just great this episode. I love her ❤️❤️🥰😍.
Overall, I really enjoyed this episode! All the storylines were nice, and there wasn't too much drama. There was a bit, but not enough that I was toooo stressed lol. The cases were great, and it was super cool to meet a member of Jordan's family :D. And it fit in especially well with her being a patient :). But yeah, I really liked all the plots :D. I'm really excited for the next episode!!! It's CRAZY that Kalu's back :DD!!! It's gonna be super cool to see him interacting with everyone, and learning some of the things that have gone on that he doesn't know about! I don't know how much he would know about (for example, Melendez - though I suspect he's more likely to know about him than Claire leaving), but it'll certainly be interesting :D 👀👀👀. It's gonna be W I L D lol :DD!!! I'm super excited, it looks like it'll be a fun episode :). But back to this episode, I just really thought it was amazing :D. There was a bit of drama, but everything worked out, and it was honestly kind of a feel-good episode 🥰.
So yeah! I loved the episode, I thought all the storylines were great. This has been my review of. . .
The Good Doctor, Season 6, Episode 14: Hard Heart
It was really good! I'm super excited for the next episode, it's gonna be a crazy one. I'll be back next week with my review of. . .
The Good Doctor, Season 6, Episode 15: Old Friends
See you then!

Cartman at Kyle's: Mini Friday Night Funtime (Part 1)
It doesn't take long for Cartman to get done with his chores his mom asked him to do, so he pulls on his signature red jacket and looks in the mirror, fixing his hair and dusting himself off.
'hmmm nah, not tonight'
He decides to just go without his jacket, just to spice things up.
He walks downstairs and looks around to find his mom sitting on the couch. "Mom, I'll be at Kyle's for the weekend, call or text if you need me."
"Okay honey, I hope you have fun! If something happens, I'm always here!" Liane responds back to her son.
'Always here...right' Cartman sourly thinks to himself. 'If you were always here, I wouldn't be worrying about you all the damn time, mom.'
"I'm seriously mom, I know how you are with not wanting to depend on me, but I'll literally bust ass if I need to."
"I know honey, just go any have some fun, alright? I think you deserve it." She responds.
"Okay, okay, I'm going," Cartman says, dramatically turning around and opening the door. "Ich liebe dich, Mama," he says in a slow, but steady manor.
"Ich liebe dich mehr, Honig," Liane responds back, in a warm smile.
With that, Cartman sets off to Kyles, taking his time walking there, thinking about home.
Ever since the time in the rec room, things have gotten more lively back at home. Cartman and Liane have been getting on better terms, and Liane hasn't been going out and 'working,' much to Cartman's delight.
He thinks maybe it's because his 'voilent outbursts' and constant 'need to throw things when mad' have been improving because of Kyle and such...but he won't ever openly admit that.
It doesn't take more than five minutes until he shows up at Kyle's door. Knocking three times, he leans on the house, trying to look 'swag' for Kyle.
A few seconds later, he hears Kyle unlocking the door and opening it to see Cartman looking more or less like an idiot.
"Kyle~"
"I've never seen you look so stupid," Kyle deadpans, looking unimpressed. Looking a bit offended, taken back, Cartman responds. "Wh- Hey!"
Kyle laughs and turns around, keeping the door open for Cartman to come in. "I think I looked pretty damn awesome back there! Don't lie, you love my swagger Kyle!" He says, closing the front door, subconsciously locking it in the process.
Standing to look at Cartman, Kyle answers back. "Swagger? Is that what it was?" Kyle says teasingly, turning around to walk into the kitchen.
"Yeah! Trust me, when I'm not on my swagger, just assume something's wrong with me," Cartman says in a matter-of-fact tone. He follows Kyle into the kitchen and finds Kyle picking up some sort of ladle and stirring sauce in a pot.
"There's always something wrong with you Cartman. I think you mixed up 'swagger' with cockiness."
"Hey now, I'm here on my own free will, humor me and don't ruin my moment!" Cartman spews out, throwing a middle finger at Kyle behind his back.
Kyle laughs at bit at that and sets the ladle back down, lowering the heat. "Cartman, can you get a couple plates out and set them on the table?" "Yeah, sure," He responds, reaching out next to Kyle, opening a cabinet and getting plates out.
Kyle can't help but side eye Cartman, looking down and seeing the side of his shirt ride up.
Cartman is has gotten more muscle over the years. Sill soft, mostly everywhere, but Kyle can't deny that when he see Cartman's upper body, he absolutely melts.
For as much as Kyle rips on Cartman's weight, he can't say he really agrees with himself anymore. He loves the way Cartman looks, weight and all.
Setting them down on the table, Cartman asks, "Anything else?"
Kyle hums for a second. "No, everything else is already set, thank you."
"Yeah, yeah,' Cartman murmurs, sitting down at the kitchen table, opening his phone, looking at the message he just got.
"Who are you talking to?"
"Kenny, he wants to knows if he should bring any alcohol Sunday." Cartman says, still looking at his phone.
Kyle rolls his eyes, still preoccupied with making dinners responds, "I'm not going to babysit three practical adults"
"So that's a yes. No, that's a hell fuckin' yes," Cartman mutters as he types.
Kyle sighs and looks at Cartman with an almost accidental upset face.
"Live a little Kyle! We're only 17 once!" Cartman says, a little too excitedly.
"I swear, you three. It's like you guys enjoy destroying yourselves," Kyle says, shaking his head and sighing.
"We love every minute of it, too," Cartman says, turning his phone off and putting it back into his pocket.
"Smoking and drinking. What's next? Needles?" Kyle asks.
Ouch.
That hit a nerve.
It's bad enough that his mom shoots up almost all the time, now Kyle thinks he will too.
"Maybe, who fuckin' knows," Cartman says a little too aggressively.
Kyle caught on and looked at Cartman, who looks a little pissed off, he apologizes. "Sorry, shouldn't have said that."
"It's fine, Kyle," Cartman responds back. "No really, I didn't mean it like that."
"Kyle, let it go, I said it's fine." Cartman says, startling Kyle with the last word.
Kyle nervously looks back, and finishes making dinner, bringing the food to the table. "Dig in," Kyle says.
"Don't you like, pray to your Jew god or something before you eat?" Cartman asks.
"Usually no, but we do during Hanukkah," Kyle answers back.
Cartman's hums in response, and goes back to being silent again, making his plate of food.
Kyle mindlessly talks to Cartman, saying what's on his mind. "I like that you think before you talk. Mind you, you're still an asshole, but you at least think of what you say before you talk, that's something"
Cartman sort of freezes that that, face turning a light pink in the process. "I'm not an asshole anymore!"
"No, you still are, but I don't mind," Kyle tries to assure Cartman. "Well, I don't mind as much as I used to."
The light pink in his face turned a darker tint. "Good to know," He mutters.
It's silent for a good few minutes until Kyle starts talking again. "Tell me an event of November 3rd, 2003". Kyle asks.
Cartman looks over at Kyle, knowing what he's wanting. 'Is this a fucking challenge, Jew?' "We we're six and I beat you over the head with a yellow three prong mega block because you threw a green lincoln log at me because I said you can't build for crap."
"I can't ever stump you, can I?" Kyle asks, impressed. "Never, I'm just that good," He says, with a shit eating smirk.
"You and that photographic memory of yours," Kyle says, smiling and looking softly at Cartman. "You can do so well in life, you just need to apply yourself."
"Life is more enjoyable when you don't care about most things," Cartman responds. Kyle sighs and keeps looking at Cartman. "Life is more enjoyable when you care about important things."
"We have very different views on life then, Kyle," Cartman says. Afterward he sticks his fork back into his food and eats again.
Kyle closes his eyes for a good few seconds, opens them back up and starts eating again too.
When they finish eating, Kyle picks up their plates and utensils and brings them into the kitchen sink to clean.
When he's done, he didn't even notice Cartman left the kitchen table until just now.
"...Cartman?" Kyle asks loudly.
He steps into the living room and eyes the backdoor. He sees the back porch lights are on and he opens the backdoor and sees Cartman standing outside, smoking a cigarette.
"Cartman..." Kyle says with a hinge of both disappointment and irritation.
Cartman jumps at the sudden call of his name and looks back at Kyle. "Oh, hey."
"I'm sure you can imagine my surprise." Kyle says, crossing his arms and leaning on the outside wall of the house.
Taking another drag Cartman holds it in and breaths out. "Yeah yeah, so terrible, I know," he says sarcastically. He turns around to he can see Kyle. "Trust me, this shit takes like ass."
"Then why do you even smoke it?"
"Because if I don't I'll get a migraine."
"That's because you keep smoking retard," Kyle says, rolling his eyes and walking toward Cartman to stand next to him.
"Go back inside Kyle, it's freezing," Cartman states. In fact it's snowing actually.
"I have a jacket on, you don't," Kyle says.
"I can use my own personal body heat, I'll be fine," Cartman says, shrugging it off. He curses that his own body just betrayed him, shivering a little.
"You're not as big as you used to be, you know. Just hurry up, I don't want you to get frostbite." Kyle says walking back into the house.
Cartman blushes at that, he honestly didn't expect to hear that. And with that, he drops his cigarette onto the floor and crushes it with his shoe, swiftly walking back into the house.
"Honeyyyy I'm back!" Cartman says out loud. Kyle comes into the living room and leans on the living room frame and crosses his arms, smirking. "What makes you think I'm the girl?"
"Because Kyle, you have a girlish body than I do! It's like all your weight goes to your thighs and ass, and the rest of you is a twig! And because I'm sooo much taller than you!" Cartman teases.
"I do not have a girlish body!" Kyle exclaims.
"You are so cute when you're mad," Cartman teases again.
"Fuck off already," Kyle says turning towards the stairs to go up into his bedroom.
He stops though to see Cartman still standing where he was. "You coming?"
"Should I come?"
"I don't know, should you?"
"If I do, can we like, make out?"
Kyle stares at Cartman in shock. He didn't expect him to be so blunt about it. If he was blunt about it too, he'd say "God yes, hurry up!" But, that's not Kyle's style.
"Maybe." And he proceeds to walk up the stairs and into his room. A few seconds later he can hear Cartman running up the stairs, and he softly laughs at that.
Cartman closes the door and leans on the door a bit. He's eyeing Kyle, watching everything he's doing.
Kyle's just cleaning his room up a bit, not huge things, just small things he sees need to be picked up. "Am I really that interesting?" Kyle asks, trying to rile Cartman up a little bit.
Seeing Cartman flustered is absolutely adorable.
"You're the only damn thing here worth looking at." Cartman says. Kyle looks back at Cartman, blushing and with wide eyes.
Cartman's brain caught up with him. Now he's blushing too. "Wait that's not-"
Seeing Cartman stumble on his words makes Kyle laugh. "Don't worry about it, you're good."
Cartman grumbles a bit and crosses his arms in a soft demeanor. "You've been laughing a lot tonight, what's with that?" He asks.
"What? Can't I have fun with you sometimes?" Kyle asks, giving Cartman a smile.
"And all these damn compliments, it's annoying."
"Oh whatever! You're acting like I've never complimented you before!" Kyle exclaims.
"You do when you want something." He breathes. "No that's usually what you do," Kyle responds lightly.
Kyle finishes up and sits down at the end of his bed. He taps the side of him, gesturing he wants Cartman to sit down next to him.
Cartman's leans back up and walks to sit next to Kyle. Before Cartman knew it, Kyle sets a hand on Cartman's knee and squeezes a little. "Kyle you don't gotta-" "Shut up."
Kyle takes his hand and puts it up to Cartman's cheek to turn his head more towards him and lightly puts his lips on his.
Cartman puts his one of his hands on Kyle's hip and drags him closer, pulling one of Kyle's legs over his legs.
Kyle let's go and mutters. "Your lips are cold." "Well then, warm them up for me," Cartman breaths out.
Kyle smiles at that and kisses him again, this time, much deeper. Kyle uses his advantage of having a smaller body to lean more into Cartman, so he can be chest to chest with him.
Cartman makes a small moaning sound and that pleases Kyle a bit too much. Kyle takes his free hand and holds Cartman's hip.
He's happy Cartman didn't loose a lot of his weight. Would have been a real disappointment if there wasn't anything to hold onto.
It's been a good five minutes until Kyle let's go, but before that lightly bites Cartman's bottom lip, then let's go.
He moves off of Cartman and lays down on his bed, but makes room for Cartman. "That. Was amazing."
"It was, but you know what would make it more amazing?" Cartman asks.
Kyle knows what he means. "I'm just not ready for that yet. It's not you, trust me, it's just.--"
Cartman looks back at Kyle, who looks more nervous than anything. "Oh then yeah, don't worry about it Kyle." He proceeds to twist and turn until he's laying on his side, so he can look at Kyle.
"So you're not gonna rip on me for it?" Kyle asks, narrowing his eyes.
"Nah, I get it. Actually, I applaud you for waiting, for whatever reason." Cartman responds.
"That's... I'm- Thank you." Kyle manages to say, with a smile on his face.
"Whatever, just go to sleep, if you don't, I will tease you endlessly." Cartman says, with a smirk, of course.
"Fuck you, jackass," Kyle says closing his eyes, intentionally getting closer to Cartman, trying to cuddle with him.
Cartman got the memo thankfully and threw his arms around Kyle. "Fuck you too, jew."
"Awe man, almost one full night without a jew joke, damn." Kyle whispers.
"Would you rather me call you daywalker bitch instead?" Cartman whispers back.
"You fucking suck." Kyle teases laughing quietly. Cartman smiles at that and responds.
"Yeah, I know, but it's nice to know that you don't mind."
It doesn't take long for them to drift off to sleep.

ok. samwell college of music au. i wrote all four years let's go babey
eric bittle is this lovely southern tenor (sounds kinda like mitch grassi or ben j pierce) who posts covers (& sometimes originals, but always with neutral or no pronouns because he can't post anything that says he or him ☹) on his youtube channel and has major stage fright but is very talented; he also plays ukulele
he got into samwell college of music on a voice scholarship and his dad doesn’t exactly approve but eric was never the 6′2″ masculine football player he wanted anyway so why not go for his dreams
he auditions for the very competitive samwell men’s contemporary chorus (there’s like 20 choirs; chamber choir, jazz choir, a cappella groups (lax bros do a cappella), combined choirs, etc- smcc does contemporary pop/rock music) and while he’s very very nervous and shaky as he auditions, directors hall & murray see a lot of potential in him (with major grumbling from student director jack)
(the rest of this ridiculously long au under the cut)
the group is small, for a chorus, because the point of the group is not a wall of sound but a focus on all of the very talented guys’ voices coming together in these gorgeous harmonies and basically they’re like one of the best choruses on campus and all the male singers want in
so there’s jack zimmermann, who of course eric knows because everyone knows who he is, he’s the son of bob and alicia zimmermann, both incredibly talented and famous musicians, and basically those genes were in his favor because he’s mega fucking talented
(jack was supposed to sign a recording contract to be in a band with his best friend kent parson when he was 17 but something happened between them and the pressure was too much and jack overdosed on something- there’s so many rumors no one knows what’s real- and kent signed solo in LA & went on to win grammys for his albums about a mysterious ex and jack disappeared for a few years to be a counselor at a music camp and reappears at samwell, knocking everyone’s socks off again like he’d never left, except with a renewed vigor and intenseness that freaks everyone out)
jack is a contemporary writing & production major, freaky talented and sings like a modern day frank sinatra, and he plays like 20 instruments and can read music like breathing air and writes songs like if he stopped he’d die; his music is folksy and mournful and he plays all the instruments on his tracks himself- guitar, piano, strings, drums- it sounds like a full band but nope. just jack. he’s intense
“we all get nicknames in this choir,” justin informs eric on his first day, “we’re those kinda guys.” so he’s bitty, which he finds vaguely offensive (bc he’s not that short!) but still cute, & the rest of the group is introduced to him:
“shitty” knight (voice like colyer) is a musical education major and an enigma of a singer with this awesome, earthy, raspy voice that’s really interesting to listen to and a very.... unique style & look; he writes cheesy but shockingly good raps about social justice topics and he will sing-lecture you if you’ve said something offensive (he also plays banjo)
justin “ransom” oluransi is a music business & management major with an angelic voice you can’t help but listen to; he’s sultry and has an incredible range and does runs like nobody’s business (with a voice like daniel caesar or leslie odom jr UGH)
adam “holster” birkholtz is a voice performance major, wants to be on broadway and it’s all he ever goddamn talks about basically, he’s a belter and has a lot of charisma and starpower and he’ll charm the pants off of you within one note; can also play piano and irritates everyone constantly because his regular volume is like a level 11 (voice like the frontman of my brothers and i combined w/ x ambassadors lead singer)
larissa “lardo” duan is at the local art institute because performing arts is not her jam and she’d much rather paint; she’s a barista at annie’s and supervises open mic nights and keeps the annoying choir dudes from driving away all her patrons
“i’m not even in your dumbass choir,” she says when the group gave her her nickname. holster just told her that she was an honorary member and then started sing-shouting a song at her about how good she is
bitty’s first year is hard because he’s talented and he works hard but he shies away when anyone asks him to sing outside the group and like, he can sing to a camera by himself but being on a stage with everyone looking at you and the sole responsibility of the song on your shoulders is terrifying and no thanks
jack does not. understand this. he’s been performing practically since he came out of the womb and he doesn’t really get performance nerves (what he gets is anxiety about how he did after he gets off stage that follows him home and makes it so he can’t sleep) - so he bothers bitty about it constantly like “you just need practice, you just have to sing by yourself a lot and then you’ll get over it” which like.... that’s true but it’s also hella scary and bitty’s like “no thanks!!!!”
but jack’s annoying and intense so he makes bitty do open mic with him every saturday night and it’s going okay and bitty loves his choir and loves his school and these new friends he’s making and he finally feels comfortable enough to come out to them during his second term
then during their spring choral showcase at the end of his freshman year bitty has a solo and he’s worked really hard on it and he’s feeling good- okay he’s completely freaked out but he’s trying to feel good- but when he gets up on stage there’s so many people and the stage lights are so hot on his face and he flips out a little and maybe he passes out from anxiety and stress right on stage and it’s terrible and he’s so embarrassed and ashamed that he ruined their set at the showcase
of course jack blames himself because “we shouldn’t have given you a solo before you were ready, i misjudged it, i’m sorry” - and they all feel kinda bad bc holy fuck they didn’t know his stage fright was that bad like they didn’t know someone could pass out just by being anxious to sing
he practices all the time over the summer and goes to his local open mic at jack’s insistence and it actually helps a lot because instead of a sea of strangers judging him it’s a bunch of people he knows and they’re all smiling at him and when he finishes his song they cheer for him and it boosts his self-confidence a lot
his sophomore year they have three new members- chris ”chowder” chow (voice like ieuan), an excitable music education major with impressive rapping skills, derek "nursey" nurse (frank ocean or leon bridges type), a songwriting major who can also play violin and guitar, and will ”dex” poindexter (like tom west), a production & engineering major who tried out with chowder bc he needed moral support and didn't expect to get in but impressed the directors with his voice
the year’s going pretty good, bitty’s still pretty scared of singing alone but more confident now and the open mic nights with jack haven’t stopped, so he’s getting better. and one night they’re hanging out at annie’s after closing waiting for lardo to be done so they can walk her home, and bitty suggests that jack sing with him one of these nights, and jack says he doesn’t know any of bitty’s songs and bitty says they can write one together half jokingly but then jack is like “yes.” with that Intense Look
SO they get together a couple days later in jack’s room at the house they all live in together (bitty moved in at the beginning of the year after previous smcc member john johnson called him- how’d he get his number?- and told him he could take his room if he wanted), jack with his guitar and bitty with his ukulele, and it’s a little awkward until bitty says jack should play him one of his songs
and, okay, he doesn’t really know what to expect because the only music jack ever released to the public was that one single he did with kent parson when they were 17 so bitty doesn’t even know if he has anything to play him, but he does- he starts playing these soft, sad notes on the guitar and opens his mouth and sings about being lonely and scared and unsure, about false starts and shaky ground and not knowing where you stand with someone, about expectations and lying awake at night and wishing so hard you were someone else, and bitty watches him sing and just kind of... realizes he’s head over heels for this boy and internally Freaks Out a little
he tries to put that aside and they start to write this song, at first it’s weird because jack’s like “all your songs are love songs i can’t really relate to happy love songs” and bitty’s like “listen... i’ve never even had a boyfriend i just write a bunch of sappy love stuff because it’s not about me it’s about whoever’s listening to it, they’re gonna project their own experiences on my music anyway so it doesn’t matter if it’s my real life or not” and jack’s like “alright while fake af that’s smart and i respect you” (what bitty doesn't say is that he writes about what he really wants which is to fall in love & be in a happy relationship)
they say they’re just gonna write this kinda vague sad song but they both secretly write lines about their actual lives so it ends up being really personal and real and raw for the both of them
they sing the song at open mic that saturday and the crowd at annie’s is never that big but they’ve never got a standing ovation here before, and some girl shouts “MAKE AN ALBUM” (it may or may not be lardo) and they both blush furiously and bitty’s like “... that was really nice, jack” and jack’s like “... yeah it was good good job you’re really getting some confidence out there nice work” (bitty: “THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT AAAAH”)
around this time jack’s really thinking about what he’s gonna do when he’s done at samwell, talking with his parents and his agent and looking into different record companies and deciding if he wants to sign with anyone or possibly start his own company- the head of a small company called falcon records in rhode island has been talking to him a lot, and jack talks to bitty about how he thinks it’d be nice to start small, and the record exec georgia and the producer marty had both been really nice and welcoming, and bitty’s so happy for him but also just... sad that he won’t be around jack every day after he graduates
THEN at a haus party celebrating their win of a local choral competition, who shows up but none other than pop star kent parson to Ruin The Fun
bitty sees the way jack pales when kent walks in, notices them disappear upstairs together and feels a little sick worrying about jack but chalks it up to the highly alcoholic concoction shitty and lardo had cooked up but nonetheless decides he’s sick of the party and goes up to his room and hears.... a little too much
and YIKES he’s standing right there and kent parson, pop star, two-time grammy winner, is looking a little rumpled and staring right at him and he puts his hat on and clears his throat and snaps at jack- “hey. well. call me if you reconsider. but good luck with rhode island. ...i’m sure that’ll make your parents proud.” and jack’s shaking, and bitty doesn’t know what to do but jack goes back into his room and bitty’s just kind of standing there like What The Fuck
so.... he kind of stews over winter break but tries not to think about it too much and he and jack text a bit and jack tells him to practice and bitty’s like “oh, you” and jack’s like “im serious” and bitty’s like “>:( it’s christmas”
spring semester starts and they're doing well in competitions and they go to semifinals and then finals for a prestigious collegiate choir competition and the pressure is mounting but they all are so optimistic and really feel like they're on the same page and bitty’s confidence is better than ever and then.... they don't win
jack especially takes it very hard, but then he also has signing to worry about, which everyone helps him with and he decides to sign with falcon records and start work on an album after graduation
speaking of graduation, shitty and jack graduate and it's hard for them but harder for bitty who feels like he's losing jack in a way, he knows how intense jack gets when he's making music and it doesn't feel like he'll have any time for bitty anymore so when they say goodbye bitty goes back to the haus and listens to his and jack's song and just cries
but, like in canon, dadbob has words of wisdom to impart and jack has an "oh" moment and races across campus to kiss bitty
they get together and the next few months are spent with jack working nonstop on his album (which tbh, he'd had many of the songs written already so it's mostly recording and producing) and texting bitty constantly and coming to visit him and playing him demos of all the songs
jack also asks bitty if they can record the song they wrote together & have it as a bonus track on his album & bitty says of course, so when jack visits they set up an impromptu studio and record vocals in the guest bedroom and this deeply personal song they wrote before they were ever together means so much more to them now
and bitty is so happy but so scared and sad too because jack is playing him these songs telling him "they're all for you bits, & a lot of them are about you" and he just doesn't know how he's going to keep all this love inside even though it feels like jack's career is at stake
he tries to shove it down and stay strong though, especially since he's now an upperclassman and they're taking on new members- connor "whiskey" whisk (voice like finneas or the male singer in valley), a music business/ management major who seems to hate bitty's guts and tony "tango" tangredi (like chaz cardigan), a jazz composition major who astounds everybody with his endless questions but also his ridiculously impressive composition skills & naturally perfect pitch (he can also play saxophone??)
i want ford in this au so fuck it she is a composition major with dreams to write scores for musicals and she stars training as a barista at annie's (aka training to corral the smcc)
the pressure of it all proves to be a lot and bitty and jack have their hi, honey moment where bitty's like i can't be this deep in the closet!!! and so they tell the smcc and also jack's label that they're together and that eases things a bit
jack's album comes out to much critical acclaim and shouting in the groupchat ("#1 ON ITUNES BRAHHHHH!!!!!!!!") and several months later, when smcc has already been eliminated from choral competition in an earlier round, jack is nominated for SEVERAL grammys including best album, song of the year, and best new artist
when the time comes he takes his parents and bitty on the red carpet which, everyone keeps being like "who are you here with jack?" and he's like "my family and my good friend :)" and yes it is awkward
jack wins... all three awards. it's the comeback everyone is stoked to see and when his third win is announced, he and bitty are so elated that they kiss before he goes to accept the award
his speech is basically just "um... wow. thank you. i just kissed my boyfriend on live tv. this is amazing and i'm so humbled. i'd like to thank my boyfriend and georgia and marty and my parents and my friends and my boyfriend"
obviously the press has a FIELD DAY with this but bitty & jack are honestly vibing and so happy that it doesn't matter untiiiillll bitty's mom calls and he has to tell her "mama i'm gay and i'm going on tour with jack this summer okloveyoubye"
the last few months of bitty's junior year pass quickly and he's voted student director which is a huge honor considering how much he struggled with stage fright and confidence & how he'll now be stepping into ransom & holster's shoes
r&h and lardo all graduate (the smcc basically crashes the art school graduation and all scream when lardo gets her diploma lmao), which is a bittersweet occasion and they all do a bit of tearing up
that summer bitty goes on tour across the u.s. & canada with jack and his touring band (snowy is a bassist, tater is a drummer and poots does backing guitar, he also brings nursey to play violin on a few songs) as well as georgia who's there to manage logistics
and tour is so fun & chaotic with many bi and rainbow flags in the audience that end up thrown on stage and draped around jack's neck and they spend so many nights in the bus drinking and laughing and fooling around on the guitars and bitty's uke and exploring new cities bitty has never been to before and it's the freest bitty has felt in a long time
summer ends though, and jack leaves for the uk/europe leg of the tour, and with the new school year brings a few new members- river "bully" bullard (voice like gregory alan isakov), a music therapy major who draws his own cover art for his songs, lukas "louis" landmann (like jr jr), an electronic production and design major with a penchant for EDM, and johnathan "hops" hopper (like keiynan lonsdale), a film scoring major who wants to write music for movies and video games
bitty meets and befriends some of the other student directors- shruti, sd of the women’s contemporary chorus; sharon, sd of the chamber choir; and edgar, sd of jazz ensemble (even chad l., sd of the all-male a cappella group)
senior year passes similarly to the comic; coach visits and sees one of bitty’s competitions, jack comes to madison for christmas, smcc does well in competition and goes to regionals etc
however… bitty keeps putting off and putting off gathering the songs for his senior recital
he has a hard time doing that because he’s so focused on the group and making sure they’re performing well and as they advance in competition, everything else starts to fall away
eventually the rest of the smcc has to lock away his uke and change his youtube password and FORCE him to choose songs for it and start preparing because he cannot graduate without doing this recital and doing well on it
he chooses (of course) a beyonce song, a few of his own songs, an ellie goulding song, and an adele song
with all that his breath hitches and his hands shake before he goes on stage, he does really well and his voice instructor prof atley tears up a little in the audience as does his mom
meanwhile smcc goes to semifinals, then finals, of the national collegiate choral competition they participate in
and i imagine bitty faces somewhat less homophobia in this au because i mean, he’s in the performing arts, but i think it’s still there and he also faces a good amount of classism from richer students and performers who think they’re better because they had the resources and money to be performing professionally from a very young age, and he has been practicing via filming himself on a shitty camcorder and posting it to youtube
but they still get there! and the national finals are fucking HUGE and a big deal and a little overwhelming
bitty’s stage fright is Present because this is the biggest stage and the biggest stakes he's ever had and he has a big solo in one of their songs so if he fucks up, he fucks up a national championship for his whole group and school
luckily though, when he steps on the stage with his best friends and sees his boyfriend and family and smcc alums in the audience and they perform their first song, a high-energy pop medley that always gets the crowd going, everything seems to melt away and it's just him living in this moment and singing his heart out
when it gets to the next song and his solo, he forgets to be nervous and belts it out, getting screams of approval from the audience when he finishes
(dex and nursey do have a duet together that they had to practice for many long nights in the practice rooms alone but that's neither here nor there)
their time on stage seems to last both hours and no time at all and then they're done, the crowd gives them a standing ovation and it's at least 30% r&h & shitty's hooting and hollering and jack's enthusiastic clapping that makes bitty & the others beam with pride
then it's just waiting, giddy and nervous beyond belief in their green room, for the judging to be over
after what feels like forever they're back on stage, arms linked together waiting and hoping for their name to be called and it is, they win and it feels like years have built up to this moment, and bitty tears up because years ago when he was fainting from anxiety at having to perform in front of people he never could've imagined that he'd do this, that he'd be the student director that led them to a championship
they get the trophy and a ridiculous amount of flowers from their loved ones and they all are just in giddy disbelief that this is happening, they're national champs!!! they are the best choir boys in the nation!!
they come home and the rest of the school year passes by so quickly that it's very suddenly graduation and bitty can't believe his college career at samwell is over 😢
(he and ollie and wicky take pictures together, o&w talk about how excited they are to devote full time attention to their band & wedding planning and bitty's just like wait you're gay??)
bitty got plenty of offers from record companies but he likes his freedom of creativity and he has a built in fanbase from doing youtube all these years so he decides to make an album independently (jack helps him produce & master it 🥰)
when bitty's album comes out about a year later, full of bops about being gay and in love and having struggled but come out the other side more confident than ever, it doesn't get any grammy nominations- and he didn't expect or need that.
what it does do is it resonates. it makes the rounds in youtube and queer internet circles; people his age reach out to him saying this is the music they wish they had as a kid and kids reach out to him saying he's a role model and they're so glad to have his music to listen to. his album is written about as an underrated gem that shines with queer brilliance and is sure to start a party when it comes on.
his parents may not fully understand the road he's chosen for himself but they're still so proud and promote the album as hard as any of his loyal fans (especially the one country-inspired song on the album that he wrote and dedicated to them).
and jack, jack who saw this album from its infancy to its release date, who took the film photo that ended up being the album cover, who worked with bitty to make sure his vision was realized exactly how he wanted it to be, is proud beyond words.
jack starts using his semi-abandoned twitter again to tweet "stream [album name]" every day and bitty retweets them sometimes, with just a "this boy. ❤"
and they're happy. they're good. they have come so far and they are reaping the rewards of all the hard work they put in to make the music that they truly love.
the end :)

Moariel high school au headcanons
Ariel is a black/white mixed girl with naturally red box braids(because i say so)and a wheelchair user who's dad is a fishermen who is very protective of her and she's very close to all six of her older sisters
Moana is a multiracial(various polynesian races)surfer girl who lives with her parents, her parental grandmother and her adoptive older brother Maui(you can't tell me they don't love eachother like siblings by the end of the film! That's sibling love babey!!)
They're both bi bi bi(ain't no lie~)
They met on the first day of school and became instant besties
Moana brought up her surfing and Ariel's eyes sparkled, which made Moana think she looked even more beautiful, and she grabbed her hands excitedly, eagerly asking her to tell her about it which she gladly did(a pretty girl wanting to know about her surfing? How could she miss this chance?)
They hung out whenever they could from then on,talking every morning by their lockers(which are right next to eachothers)and helping the other carry their books and notebooks
On the morning of the first day of their second semester,Alana gave Ariel a pep talk to help her go to Moana's house to ask her out and that helped Ariel work up the courage to do it and so Alana drove her there with her directions but not before stopping by [Ariel's] friend Eric's parents' flower shop to pick up a bouquet of hibiscuses for Moana
Tala smiled at Ariel when she opened the door for her, recognizing her from Moana's gushing of her when they'd had their grandma and granddaughter tea time. They greeted eachother and formaly introduced themselves and Tala didn't even have to ask what Ariel was here for.The bouquet and what Moana had told her made it obvious
She led her to the dining room, where Moana and Maui were eating their macadamia nut pancakes.Moana swallowed quickly in surprise upon seeing her best friend."Ariel? What are you doing here?"Ariel rolled over to where she was sitting, flustered and even moreso when she felt Maui's curious eyes on her.She offered her the bouquet and Moana's eyes grew to the size of her meal in surprise as she gasped, shocked and happy.'No.way!'
"Moana,i like you!I like-like you! Will you be my girlfriend?!"She blutered out and Maui's eyebrows disappeared into his hairline as Tala simply smiled."Ariel,i feel the same way!Yes!A million times yes!"Moana stood happily-Ariel liked her back-and hugged her now-girlfriend gently.Tears of joy came to Ariel's eyes as she hugged back and kissed Moana on both cheeks repeatedly, making her laugh good-naturedly.
A throat cleared behind them and they looked to see Maui with a smirk on his face."So Moana...this is your gal pal that you've been talking about?" "SHUT UP,MAUI!"

Please rant more about how overrated it is /gen
I'd honestly be more than happy to - I have too much to say about this episode.
Make Love Not Warcraft is… a mediocre episode. It isn’t the worst South Park episode, but by no means is it even close to being the best. The fact that so many people regard it as the best episode of South Park ever made, let alone gifting it the title of ‘masterpiece’, is baffling to me. This is what I would consider to be the most overrated/overhyped episode in the series - and that says a lot.
I’ve seen people say this is South Park at its peak and in that, represents South Park the best - I cannot disagree more. The story seems more out of place than other episodes and I think the best word to describe it is a “filler episode”. It wasn’t meant to be great, it wasn’t meant to represent South Park, it was just some funny jokes about a game that was popular at the time. I believe Trey Parker once said in an interview he was embarrassed when the episode aired because it didn’t feel up to his standards; I can’t say for sure whether this statement still stands, but it’s notable to mention because even he felt this episode was lacking in some way - I agree, especially taking into consideration some of the previous episodes that season (Cartoon Wars, Tsst, Smug Alert… all good episodes).
I think it’s best to give an example of an episode that I do consider to be a top-tier episode and coincidentally, the episode that lost most recently to Make Love Not Warcraft in the bracket: Imaginationland.
Imaginationland is my absolute favourite of the series - it’s been that way since I watched it for the first time. I won’t say it represents South Park the best (that’s a tough decision to make - I can’t crown an episode with that title), but it sure as heck represents good storytelling and plot development well, much better than MLNW. what MLNW was lacking that Imaginationland had so strongly was, among many things, a clear, character-driven plot. I’ve heard people say it’s unfair because Imaginationland is a trilogy, but just because something is one episode doesn’t mean it has less plot - for example, Scott Tenorman Must Die, AWESOM-O, and The Death of Eric Cartman all had clear plots that were character-driven. When I say “character-driven”, I mean the character is able to push forward the plot on their own. The way to figure out if characters are truly well-developed is to put them somewhere and let them move the plot on their own. In Imaginationland, they were. the plot of Imaginationland was so uniquely true to these characters that to me, it shined through as a quality and more enjoyable, memorable episode. Only South Park can have a coherent plot about a character issuing a court case for someone to suck their balls solely to humiliate them. That’s 100% Eric Cartman, babey!!! You can’t get that anywhere else! The plot progressed on its own through the personalities and motives of the characters to get to that scene. Even in the opening scene as all the kids are looking for the leprechaun, we can see how the individual characters got to that point even without showing how! The way the characters pushed forward the plot with their personalities is very evident. You’re able to pinpoint the motives of the characters that moved one plot point to another - they progress the story, the story doesn’t progress them. However, I believe Make Love Not Warcraft does the latter. Sure, the characters' personalities were there, but they didn’t progress the plot. Rather, it seemed MLNW was driven by World of Warcraft references and the game itself, not the characters. Characters make up a show - it’s important for them to be in tune with the plot. Otherwise, it’ll just end up coming off funky.
I’m going to compare Make Love Not Warcraft to Elementary School Musical in this aspect - both episodes seemed to be driven by the one thing at hand, World of Warcraft and High School Musical. The episodes are fine, but nothing special. It just seems to be there to reference the featured media and nothing else. They were never meant to be big episodes, but unfortunately, Make Love Not Warcraft did become a big episode primarily because of that specific type of male fan of South Park. I’ll properly rant at the end of this about that, though.
Another criticism I have about Make Love Not Warcraft is the way it presents itself. It’s making fun of the gamers like that, but throughout the episode, it almost seemed like a promotion, as if Blizzard having a part in the episode aided in promoting the game in some way. Whether or not this was the intention, this is how I perceived it. When people feel like they’re being advertised to in one way or another, it makes the source media less enjoyable. Someone can argue that it was a tribute rather than a promotion, and I have this argument to raise: Major Boobage. The episode was an homage to the 1981 film Heavy Metal and when watching Major Boobage, in no way did I feel it was promoting to me that 80s movie. It definitely felt like simply a reference or homage. It didn’t drive the entire episode (although it was a focal plot point) like World of Warcraft did in MLNW. the plot of MLNW just seemed to rely so heavily on references to the game itself and making fun of gamers like that that it came out as what I believe to be a weak episode. If this makes sense, the plot was complete, but thin - it didn’t have the meat of the plot like other South Park episodes did. It focused on one aspect and it just seemed to be milking that dry rather than sprouting roots from that main idea. It’s like in school with those “idea trees”, rather than adding meat to the episode with new ideas sprouting from the main idea, it focused too much on that main idea that it consumed the episode, and … that’s what the episode was - World of Warcraft. With Major Boobage, we had the entire idea of cheesing, declaring it illegal, Kenny cheesing, Gerald eventually cheesing because of the cat Kyle confiscated from Kenny, the two battling it out in that world at the end (well. or the sandbox). We can see where (and more importantly, how) the characters led one situation to another. Oh! and I haven’t even mentioned the other part of Major Boobage - Cartman keeping the cats hidden in his attic (cat person Cartman, my beloved). With this added plot point, it delved from the main idea of cheesing, but the viewer can still easily see it as separate - good plot development. It presents the idea of cheesing and it becoming illegal and builds on that - it provides the question, "What are the effects of this?" If you map the events of this episode on an idea tree, you can easily see what led to another and how it derived from that main plot point. With Make Love Not Warcraft, the events were so… one-note. did anyone else feel like it was kind of OOC? Like, again, it felt like the plot drove the characters, not the characters driving the plot.
And this takes me to what really riles me up - Make Love Not Warcraft’s fan club. I.. do not understand what they see in the episode. Like I get that everyone has their own opinion and everything, but … M… Make Love Not Warcraft..? Really? In the YouTube poll between Imaginationland and Make Love Not Warcraft, I saw the comments, so now I do know why people like it, but I still can’t understand how. They said they liked it because it was “funny”, they liked how the characters became the gamers, it dived into what World of Warcraft was, and uh, in their words, had “the fattest sh*t in the series”. I will sound pretentious when I say this, but all the people voting for Make Love Not Warcraft as THE BEST EPISODE OF THE SERIES aren’t taking into consideration writing, story structure, character development, character-driven plot, etc. They’re only voting because “haha funnie poopoo”. Like an episode for silly things like that, sure!! But when you say so boldly that an episode is a “masterpiece” and “the best in the series”, you better be ready to back it up. The things that they attribute the episode as “best episode of the series” are… insane to me. Like… “fattest sh*t in the series”? Really? Is that really something that’s note-worthy of a good episode? Even so, I find it funny the way they phrased that considering there is a canonical “fattest sh*t in the series” and that was done by Randy in S11E9, More Crap. I have a theory myself of why these people like MLNW so much - the episode … has something to do with them. Do they play world of warcraft? Are they the gross gamer dudes the episode was making fun of? Probably! one common theme of all these people saying MLNW is the greatest episode in the series is that they’re all middle-aged men! That’s who the episode was making fun of, these grown men who play video games religiously with poor personal hygiene! The overall episode was gross and it catered to them. With the other thing I saw, people saying they liked it because it dived into what World of Warcraft was - what!! See, that’s what I was saying before with how it felt like a promotion for the game. Blizzard itself was even involved, but it just felt so.. off. It felt like a pat on the back to Warcraft instead of making fun of it like they would other things in other episodes. And no wonder it catered to all these people that played it! It was meant for them and unfortunately, they're the majority.
This is a very sloppy rant, but it genuinely riles me up to see Make Love Not Warcraft getting so much praise over other episodes of better quality. The episode isn't terrible, but it's not great - it's just an episode.

characters! you said you liked south park! so! I looked up characters and ummm gimme kenny and eric!
omg anon ur so sweet 😭😭 ily so much rn
kenny
favorite thing about them: he is literally so fucking forgiving and for what? FOR WHAT? tries so hard to protect the people he loves, cares so much, i would literally die for this kid
least favorite thing about them: listen as much as you being forgiving and nice is a good thing i also...dont u wanna go apeshit sometime? like ive seen you do it before, but dont you think you should do it more? i certainly think you should, u deserve to kick the shit out of your friends more often
favorite line: idk if this really counts but everything that happened at the end of bigger, longer and uncut...priceless
brOTP: k2, stenny and klyde (clenny? do clyde and kenny have a pairing name???) make me happy :] i also very much like the idea of wendy and kenny being friends even if it isnt canon. oh, also, the obligatory bunny, bc butters deserves a good friend.
OTP: crenny, do not fucking look at me if you dislike crenny, idc, crenny lives in my head rent fucking free and that's on kinning craig tucker.
nOTP: idk if i really have any notps, although i dont really get kenman (is that the pairing name? jesus it's been so long since ive been properly in this fandom ive forgotten everything)
random headcanon: kenny mccormick has a 2 pet opposums in his room that he grabbed off the street. he cant really tell them apart bc they're both just white and fat (also he's a bit blind, but shhh) but he named them lemon and oogie boogie (bc he likes eating lemons straight off the peel and thinks the nightmare before christmas is poggers)
unpopular opinion: @ fic witers: dont be shy, write kenny the way he canonically is: a fun, fairly carefree, protective and loving boy, with a rough life. having trauma does not have to equal edgy man who smokes cigarettes and gets into fights like?? where did this interpretation even come from lol
song i associate with them: ooooh babey, do i have another playlist for this character! heres a few songs off of it :]
bottom - mccafferty
honeypie - jawny
bloom later - jesse
favorite picture of them: angel. honey. sweet child. i love u so much, pls come back soon
Tumblr media
cartman
favorite thing about them: the way he canonically does care about his friends to some degree but just Will Never Admit It and will, instead, do absolutely reprehensible things that make them hate him. something about that just gets me every time.
least favorite thing about them: literally problematic in every sense of the word. like its good for comedy but i cant even redeem him when writing fics like i can every other character 😭
favorite line: no fucking clue
brOTP: when people were talking about the possibility of cartman and clyde being step brothers while the last season was airing (or at least i think it was the last season? maybe the one before tho, idk, the one with the birthday party in it) i started liking the idea of them being obnoxious step brothers who kinda hate each other but look out for each other. its not canon, but it lives in my head rent free. i dont really have brotps for cartman otherwise, so ur gonna have to take it. sorry.
OTP: the day i ship eric cartman with someone is the day i fucking die.
nOTP: kyman, no ifs, no buts.
random headcanon: cartman's mommy issues far outweigh his daddy issues, which is why he has so much rage. have you ever seen bitches with mommy issues? they would knock someone out for free and then fucking cry about it 4 months later (i would know, i am one of those bitches) /lh /j
unpopular opinion: making cartman a good friend in fics is way weirder than just blatantly cutting him out or making him not longer friends with the main four.
song i associate with them: the first character ive done without a playlist today, woooo
this is hard but um...i think wolf in sheep's in clothing by set it off is fitting
favorite picture of them: little baby man

~
“come on cam, it’ll be fun!” eric promised.
cam shook his head in dismissal. “nuh-uh. absolutely not. im not coming with you.”
“dude, come on, don’t be a pussy.”
“im not being a pussy, im being smart. no.”
“no ones gonna catch us, man. come on.”
cam sighed, running a hand through his hair. “your idea of fun always includes breaking the law. why can’t we just go get a pizza or something?”
eric snorted, “uh, because that’s lame as hell. duh.”
cam groaned, knowing there was no way of changing his mind.
“actually, a pizza sounds really nice now that I think about it...”
cam looked at him, surprised. “really?”
“yeah. lets go steal a pizza!”
“eric, no.”
