***UPDATE***
Eric Holder Jr. was sentenced to 60 years in prison for all charges he was accused of including the murder of Nipsey Hussle. The early word is that Holder Jr. would be sentenced to life but Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke II showed him some level of undeserved mercy based on his “mental health”
“I am very mindful of what was presented as to Mr. Holder’ mental health,” Jacke said. “I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two.”
F**k his mental health. Hopefully, he spends the next 60 years in a mental hell thinking about how many lives he destroyed by destroying Nip’s.

The Marathon Continues: Nipsey Hussle’s Cowardly Killer Couldn’t Attend Trial Because He Got Beat TF Up In Prison
It has been a very long time coming but hopefully, now Nipsey Hussle’s grieving family and friends can take a victory lap.
The cotton-soft clown who murdered the rapper/entrepreneur is set to be sentenced today after being found guilty by a jury of his peers back in July of last year. Eric Holder Jr. will appear in court and according to an AP report, he is very likely to receive life in prison for his heinous deeds. In addition to the murder, Holder was charged and found guilty of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a firearm for gunfire because his reckless shooting left two other men injured.
While he may be “doing his job” defense attorney Aaron Jansen sullied himself to ask Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke to reduce Holder’s conviction to manslaughter or second-degree murder. Fortunately, Judge Jacke has already once rejected such an insulting request. There was literally zero exculpatory evidence in Holder’s favor. He committed the murder of an extremely famous person, outside of their business, in broad daylight, in front of several people.
“We hope that there is some resounding peace in the fact that his killer will be in prison likely for the rest of his life,” the lead prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney John McKinney, said after the verdict.

We don’t know how much peace this sentencing will ultimately bring Nipsey’s loved ones but we hope and pray for their healing after the book is closed on this final chapter of justice. The Marathon Continues.

Last night I had a dream that kells and I were on the gq couple thingy & it was fucking hilarious. I think he’d be a fun time on there. Is there any way I could request you do an imagine like that?? Please ! 🙏😇
GQ COUPLE’S QUIZ
request fourteen
summary: colson and his gf y/n do the gq couples quiz together
word count: 1,877
warnings: mention of nipsey hussle’s death
3rd person’s P.O.V.
Y/N sat down in the chair while her boyfriend sat beside her in a different chair.
“You ready?” He asks her and grabs her hand, knowing that she gets nervous when someone is filming her. Although she gets nervous, she knows that this kind of stuff comes with dating a celebrity.
“Yeah, are you okay with doing this?” She asks Colson, knowing that he was upset earlier today because Nipsey did this interview with Lauren before he passed. The death had hit him really hard but doing this was a way to honour Nip’s legacy, as their GQ interview was really popular.
“Yeah baby, let’s do this!” He smiles.
“Okay guys, you know the drill. Y/N will ask Colson the questions off her cue cards and we will keep track of the points. We begin rolling in 3, 2, 1…”
“Hey everyone. I’m Y/N Y/L/N and I’m here with my boyfriend, Colson Baker a.k.a Machine Gun Kelly. This is the GQ Couples Quiz, hopefully, y’all know how it works. Are you ready baby?”
“Yeah let’s do it,” Colson smiles at her.
“Alright, what was the first meal I ever cooked for you?” Y/N grins at him.
“God that was a long time ago,” He chuckles. “Are we talking when we were friends or when we started dating?”
“Hmm.. let’s go with friends to make it harder for you,”
“Was it… cereal or something?”
“Babe!”
“What!?”
“It was grilled cheese! When you were hungover and came to my place,” She playfully hits his shoulder.
“Oh yeah! I knew that so I should still get the point,”
“No, you didn’t!” They laugh together.
“I’m going to be so bad at this,” He puts his head in his hand and laughs.
“Confidence is key,”
“Yeah baby I know,” They smile at each other.
“Okay… how many tattoos do I have?” Colson looks up and furrows his eyebrows.
“Let me imagine your body hold on,” He points his finger in the air as if to count. “1, 2, 3, 4, 5…”
“Come on,” Y/N encourages him.
“11?”
“Correct!” Y/N high fives him. “Bonus point if you can name them,”
“I don’t know about that,” Colson teases. Y/N playfully shakes her head at him.
“What’s my favourite colour?”
“Easy, green.” Colson pauses. “Or the colour of my eyes,” He winks.
“Correct, good job. Two points so far,”
“What was my first job ever?”
“Fuck, it was at a fast-food joint right?”
“Yes! Three points,”
“I’m smashing this!” Colson pumps his fist in the air.
“Yeah, yeah,” Y/N giggles.
“If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, what would it be?” Y/N nervously shuffles the cue cards.
“I don’t know if I can say that one on camera baby,” He laughs.
“Kells!” She swats him with the cue cards and laughs.
“Nah, Nah. Pasta right?”
“Nice save. Correct,”
“Alright, what’s something on my bucket list?”
“Ummm… go to the Olympics? Like attend it, not be in it!”
“Yes actually, I’m surprised you know that one.”
“You gotta give me more credit, I listen…” He pauses. “Sometimes,” Colson joking around is noticeably making her feel more comfortable.
“How do you know when I’m mad at you?”
“How am I supposed to answer this without making you mad?” Colson teases. “You ignore me, gimme the cold shoulder,”
“I mean you’re not wrong…” She admits. “What colour are my eyes?” Y/N shuts her eyes quickly.
“Damn, now I can’t cheat. They’re green yeah?”
“No! They’re brown!” She says as she opens her eyes.
“With little green bits in them!”
“Babe! They do but they’re mostly brown. I reckon that one’s wrong.”
“Not fair,” Colson jokingly pouts.
“Let’s move on. What’s my favourite “pump up” song?”
“Till I Die by yours truly,” Colson grins. “Obviously. How many points am I on now?”
“7 I think?”
“Out of how many questions?”
“9?”
“Alright, I’m doing okay so far,”
“What’s my favourite movie?”
“Notting Hill!” Colson answers quickly.
“Wow, I’m impressed.”
“Yeah well, you make me watch it at least three times a week,”
“True,” She giggles.
“How long does it take to my makeup?”
“Well, it depends on the look, pretty much between 5 hours to 3 years!” Colson jokes.
“Hey! It does not take me that long. It takes me life half an hour to an hour!”
“Yeah well for me it feels like a lot longer than that,” He laughs.
“What’s my favourite fast food and what do I like to order?”
“Oh, easy, your favourite place is KFC and you like to order a double tender meal! That’s an Australian specific burger for all you uncultured swine,” He jokes.
“Correct!” Y/N laughs. “Who influenced me when I was growing up? Music-wise,” Y/N asks cheekily. Colson rolls his eyes.
“Eminem,” He mumbles.
“What was that?” Y/N giggles.
“Eminem!” He speaks a bit louder which makes Y/N burst into laughter. God knows if these two will have any laughter left in their body after this interview is finished.
“Correct again. You’re rocking this baby,”
“What am I on now?”
“Like ten I think?”
“Sick!”
“Describe me in three words,”
“Gotta make this appropriate. Let’s go with sexy, funny, no actually! Hilarious! And kind,”
“Awe thanks, Kells!”
“What am I most comfortable sleeping in?”
“Nothing,” Colson winks at the camera.
“Oh my god,” Y/N puts her face in her hand. “Let’s move on.”
“Wait wait wait is that correct?” He smirks.
“Yes! Now, what am I most scared of?”
“Small spaces right? You’re claustrophobic or whatever they call it,”
“Yes and no. I am scared of small spaces but it’s not what I’m most scared of,”
“What is it then?”
“I’m most scared of losing you,” Y/N blushes.
“Awe babe! I love you,” Colson kisses her cheek.
“I love you too,” She smiles. “What’s my Starbucks order?”
“Either cold brew or a green tea frap with whipped cream,”
“Correct! I think that’s 13 now?”
“Yay!”
“Who’s my favourite actor/actress?”
“Obviously me, or Hugh Grant,”
“Another one correct!”
“Where was I born?”
“Easy, Australia!”
“Do you know where in Australia?”
“Melbourne?”
“Yep! I knew that you knew that, I just love hearing you say Melbourne in your accent,” Y/N admits, to which Colson laughs.
“Who is my celebrity crush?”
“Is that even a question? It’s obviously me,”
“Yes… obviously…” Y/N says in an uncertain voice.
“Is there something you’re not telling me?” Colson furrows his eyebrows.
“Nope!” Y/N laughs. “Moving on… what is my favourite nickname to call you?”
“Daddy,” Colson winks at the camera.
“Colson!” Y/N raises her voice, clearly embarrassed.
“Or Kells,”
“That’s better,” They laugh together. “Who is Casie’s favourite? If you don’t know, Casie is Colson’s beautiful daughter,”
“Um me of course,”
“No, me!”
“Hey! I’m better with her!”
“No, she loves me more,”
“No, she loves ME more! I’m her dad!” Colson whines.
“There’s only one way to settle this,” Y/N grins and grabs her phone out of her jacket pocket. She clicks on Casie’s facetime contact and moves the phone to show only her face.
“Hey Y/N!” Casie answers.
“Hey baby girl, I have a question for you.”
“What’s up?”
“I wanna know who’s your favourite, me or your dad?”
“Is dad with you?”
“No…” Y/N chuckles.
“Okay don’t tell him but you’re my favourite!”
“Hey!” Colson yells.
“Y/N you said he wasn’t with you!” Casie pouts.
“Sorry hun, we’re doing a video and he thought that he was your favourite,”
“You’re both my favourite!”
“You can’t go back on your word now,” Y/N jokes. “I gotta go now but I’ll see you soon!”
“Okay love you both!”
“Love you too!” Colson and Y/N say at the same time before Casie hangs up.
“Told you I’m her favourite,” Y/N winks as Colson sits in his chair sulking.
“What’s my favourite tv show?”
“Depends on your mood. I know your top three are Law & Order SVU, Supernatural and Big Mouth,”
“Good one baby!”
“I only know that because you also make me watch those with you,”
“Shh you’re on 18 now I think,”
“Out of?”
“23 I believe,”
“Hmm, that’s okay,”
“Where did we first meet and what did I think of you?”
“We met at one of my shows and you thought I was an asshole,” Colson chuckles.
“I did think you were asshole but really hot,” Y/N admits.
“Great,” Colson laughs.
“What’s my favourite ice cream flavour?”
“Mint choc chip!”
“No, it’s cookies and cream. You know better,” Y/N jokes.
“Oops,”
“Okay, what’s my zodiac sign?”
“Oh! Virgo! And I’m a Taurus! I only know this because Y/N is trying to educate me on all of the signs,” He laughs.
“Yes I am, he’s doing very well so far. Clearly,”
“I try,” He swats his imaginary hair behind his shoulder making everyone in the studio laugh.
“What’s my favourite part of my body?”
“Coincidently, it is also my favourite part of your body. Your butt!”
“Yes,” Y/N says in between chuckles.
“What’s my favourite song of yours?”
“That’s hard because you have so many!” Colson laughs.
“It’s true… how about name one off each of your albums?”
“Alright, I’ll just do the mainstream ones. Lace Up, your favourite is Wild Boy or See My Tears. General Admission, your favourite is Bad Motherfucker or Merry Go Round or Till I die! Honestly most of the songs off that album. Bloom, Let You Go or 27 or Wake + Bake cause you said my voice sounds really hot in that,”
“Don’t at me like that!” She laughs. “But it’s true,” She winks at the camera.
“I know BINGE is an EP but still, your favourite is NYLON. Hotel Diablo, it’s Glass House or 5:3666 or el Diablo. And off Tickets to my Downfall, well that’s a secret.”
“Wow, you got all of them right! I really love Baddest and Lead You On too by the way! Highly recommend checking out all of those songs,”
“I’m glad you like my songs baby,”
“Of course. Now, what’s my favourite thing about you?”
“Physically, one thing we can’t mention on camera,” He winks. “Or my tattoos. Y/N has a really bad habit of tracing them like 24/7,”
“I can’t help it! They’re all so interesting. I think I’ve bugged him about telling me the meaning of every single one,”
“True that. I reckon emotionally though, your favourite thing is how much I care about everyone,”
“Oh yeah for sure. Onto the last question, you ready babe?”
“Yep,”
“What’s the biggest scar on my body?”
“I don’t know babe! The one on your leg?”
“Yes actually,”
“Aye there we go!”
“Well, that was my last question, thanks for playing baby and thank you for watching!”
“What was my score?”
“24 out of 30 I think,”
“Oh,” Colson looks down at his feet. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with that but that’s the score Nip got when he did this with Lauren. Shout out to those two, rest in peace. Neighbourhood Nip forever!”
“Love you,”
“Love you too baby girl,”

Still Here.
Disclaimer:
I’ve seen so many wins and losses, both in my life and in others’, and I wanted to share my experiences from what was quite easily the toughest 365 I’ve ever faced. This isn’t to bring attention to myself, but more so to let you know that we’re all human. I hope you read this and it helps you somehow; whether you can relate or not, we’re all in this life stuff together. Be confident, be you, always.
It’s been… a while? Sure, the decade is coming to a close, and it’s great that many are reflecting on the last ten; however, I myself wanted to focus on this past year in particular.
Making decisions is inevitably a part of life that we eventually must tackle with confidence. The spectrum of decisions features endless possibilities: from black or white socks in the morning, to which job you should take, one is small, one is big, both are crucial.
I made a decision at the end of last year that changed my life forever. This decision was something that I never envisioned happening. When I say never, I mean not one millisecond did my mind wonder off into a state that featured this decision coming to life in any way, shape, or form. There were plenty of reasons that I didn’t think that a decision like this would ever have had to be made, but the main ones were the power in and faith of love, which I still possess to this day.
With that decision came the darkest days of my life, but opportunistic ones subsequently. I started a new position at Nike, which consisted of a three month “stretch assignment” as a part of the music team. I was primed and determined to obtain a corporate-level position after the 90 days because I knew that I had worked my ass off and was ready for the next step in life, but also partially because I needed the aforementioned next step for the sake of my own mental.
The first month was full of learning and growth; I was blessed yet again to rub shoulders and engage in conversation with some of the most creative, hard-working people that I had ever met. For my Nike vets out that made the choice to read this, I was just trying to be a sponge early on in the process. January was a blur, but it closed with me being asked, “is your schedule clear for the first week of February? We want you to go to LA.”
*cues “Bicken Back Being Bool”* The night before leaving, I had one of the toughest conversations I’ve ever had in my life; one that semi-clarified the direction in which my life was heading in. I’ll never forget the ride to the airport in the morning; I let it all out in that Uber while texting my inner circle. I told them that I was scared as fuck, in so many ways, but I thanked them for always keeping me afloat in midst of this life shit. I’ll say this until I am blue in the face, but you are only as strong as your support system. I’m often one to bottle up, but we’re all human at the end of the day, and I have no shame in admitting that. I boarded the plane, my brain scrambled, with my first solo work trip staring me in the face.
I landed in LA, arrived at my hotel, and walked into a room that was straight out of the movies. TV mounted on a pole in the middle that swerved whichever way you wanted it to, king-sized bed with a bathtub adjacent to it, and a mirror the size of a Manhattan skyscraper. The best part was the fruit platter that was assembled on the table, which had an envelope propped up against it that said “Mr. David *middle name* Lugo.” I felt like Hov, y’all. I can’t lie.
The trip was full of nothing but positivity. I’m forever grateful to the both East and West music teams for showing me an insurmountable amount of love throughout my time with them, but this trip in particular was something I’ll never forget. I got the opportunity to meet so many people in higher places, and experience things “on the other side.” I was ten feet away from Jorja as she performed, and I was never so close to losing a job in my life. That’s cap, but, what a moment that was. “If you asked this little kid from Brooklyn who had dreams of being in the MLB if he would be on a work trip in LA working in the music world, he would’ve looked at you like you were crazy. Thank you for taking a chance on me.” That’s the text I sent in gratitude at the conclusion of the trip. I meant every word.
Time passed, and I kept working hard, as always. I started to gain some traction, some momentum, both physically and mentally. Then, March 31st came. I’ll never forget being on Dave’s couch watching Duke and Michigan State when Ian stopped and said, “Not Nipsey, man.” I frantically refreshed Twitter, the only word I could utter was “fuck.” Thirty-three years old, shot and killed in front of what he built. He’s playing in the background as I type this now, and it still doesn’t seem real. I’ll never forget coming to work and talking to Kha about it. He said, “that’s so crazy, because you always tried to get me to listen to Nip.”
The next day was the start of my last week at the office. I barely spoke to anyone that day, because that shit hurt. It still does, there’s no way around it. Ironically, one of my close friends was getting married in LA that weekend. I’ll spare the details, but despite my hard work and determination those few months, the stars weren’t fully aligned yet, and there was no room for me to join the corporate team. The trip to celebrate love couldn’t have come at a better time.
I made my way out West, and it was bittersweet for obvious reasons: the decision to close out the last year, Nip’s death, not getting a permanent look at the office, and a variety of other life obstacles all weighed on me. We pulled up to Slauson to pay our respects, and hundreds of people were gathered to celebrate Hussle’s life. As emotional as it was, the love and energy that was there was truly special.
Wedding day came, and to see love at its’ peak was a beautiful thing. My friends were so happy to be joined in marriage; the company, the scenery, the aura, all of it was perfect. They even walked out to “U See Us,” and I was so gassed that I went and thanked them after. Nip blaring out of the speakers as they walked into the hall was something I didn’t expect. Full transparency, as gushingly happy as I was for everyone involved, I was selfishly sad a bit. Reflecting is great, but reminiscing isn’t always the same. A combination of the two made for a constant tug of war in my mind. As I sat in the airport waiting for my departing flight back home, I couldn’t help but think how this could’ve been me soon.
I got back home, hot to cold, literally. Back at the store, I felt trapped again. Creatively, I was fed up with my lack of progress due to circumstances that were out of my control. The one constant positive thing about that door was the people and the running community that was built there. I loved being that guy to round the troops up to go for a run after work, motivating others to join me regardless of their running experience.
A big step in my personal growth this year had a lot to do with running, as many of you may already know. I took it extremely serious, and developed a new passion that I never could’ve imagined coming to life. This new found passion allowed me to lead in a new way, inspire in a new way, and most importantly be happy in a new way. I am forever grateful for every single person that encouraged me, ran with me, or was involved in the journey that is still going to this day. I’m forever in debt to you all.
Skipping a few months of a routine cycle, which led to this.. Remember that opening paragraph about decisions? Well, I faced a pretty fucking massive one in July, when I stepped out of the box and bet on myself. Real quick, though, shout out to Roddy for a late contender for Song of the Year with “The Box.” Unbelievable.
Anyway, I felt stuck and decided to reach out to someone who had offered me some help a while back if I ever needed it, based on some work that I had done in the past. I took his word for it and set up a meeting. That meeting led to another meeting, which led to an interview, which led to a 90+ degree day in July. I was at Citi Field for Go Play Day with Nike, when I got a text from said person saying that he wanted to speak about a potential offer. I couldn’t take the call because I was occupied teaching first graders the proper fundamentals on how to field ground balls and step into their throws. Clearly more important. So serious, by the way.
The call happened the next day, and I was offered a job. Holding back tears like Will in The Pursuit of Happyness, I thanked the other end of the phone a million times, and the call ended. I broke down, my pals. The accumulation of hard work, persistence, struggle, pain, and everything you could imagine had brought me to this point. That’s where I’ve been since August, putting in some serious work with an All-Star team. I’m leading my own year long project, and doing the damn thing.
Damn, it’s been a while since I’ve written. I’m tired. I’ll use this paragraph to tell y’all some random facts about the year. Amanda and Darren had a baby, and Adonis is perfect. He’s a baby me, and I can’t wait to take him to the park. I went to Oregon and Seattle, went up to the Space Needle which was beast, and had a peaceful time exploring such a beautiful coast. I went to more of Ian’s plays because he’s a superstar. I ran with Dave because he realized I’m not trying to be a bodybuilder like he is, so to get him to run was like pulling teeth. Freddie Kitchens is the worst coach ever. I started going to church this year, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made in quite some time. I dyed my hair because, life? I got two tattoos, one of which has been years in the making and is an ode to Sade, Bob Ross, and myself. I fell in love with Snoh. I don’t know, a lot of shit happened.
To close out this damn near novel of the year, I want to say that I’m proud of myself. I’m still standing, and I didn’t know what to expect as I wrote this. It was emotional, without a doubt. I’ll continue to reflect, I’ll continue to reminisce, and I’ll continue to be human. I encourage you all to do the same. I’ll continue to walk in faith, and give all glory upstairs. I don’t really know how to close this, which is weird, but as I always say, love is love. Whether it’s to close out this decade, or to start the new one, make a decision. Right or wrong, have faith it’ll all work out. I still do.

A Letter to Neighborhood Nip.
(Starts playing Loaded Bases ft. Cee-Lo Green by Nipsey Hussle from Victory Lap)
We lost a superhero this past weekend. His name was/is Nipsey Hussle. Hussle Man.
It goes without saying that I did not personally know the man. However, I, like millions of Hip-Hop/Rap fans world wide, knew and love(d) Nipsey. As a 30 year old Nigerian American man, generationally, I was really a fan of Neighborhood Nip. From Bullets Ain’t Got No Names to The Marathon to TMC to Crenshaw to Mailbox Money to Victory Lap, Nipsey has paved such a legendary lane not only within a very competitive west coast hip-hop scene but the culture at large, globally. I can’t help but think of the generational class of West Coast artist that Nip worked with over the years from Kendrick Lamar to YG, Dom Kennedy, OverDoz, Hit-Boy, DJ Mustard to Buddy. Nipsey is an absolute staple in modern West Coast Hip-Hop music. This is not to negate the love Nip got in the the East/ New York (where he shot some of his Rap Niggas music video) and Philly from artist like Dave East and Meek Mill. As a “street rapper”, Nipsey was way more dynamic as an artist than many other artist that the industry continued to promote more than him. Still, in 2018, Nipsey followed through and delivered his opus Victory Lap and proceeded to take his Victory Lap from All Star Weekend to The Grammys. He not only followed through in real life but also thematically and artistically with the theme  he set almost a decade ago back in 2010 between The Marathon mixtape and the Victory Lap album. The path has always been a consistent, well paced forward journey and never a sprint. This is what makes something classic and timeless. Another layer is the message in the music of critiquing gang culture through the lens of existing in an impoverished, racist, capitalist city, state and country.
For a brother like me, Nipsey Hussle was a constant source of inspiration. An Eritrean American rapper from LA with bars that held so much integrity and realism. I can’t think of the culture moving on from his lose without taking real inventory of what he contributed and showed us all within such a short span of time. Nipsey came on the scene with a gold, ice-ed out Malcolm X chain in a way that no other rap artist has done before. Nipsey made sure to distinguish himself. His entrepreneurship was next level. From investing and rebuilding in local real estate in his hood to cryptocurrency, documentaries on Dr. Sebi and business incubators like Vector 90. Nipsey showed a very forward thinking and dynamic business acumen.
Victory Lap is Nipsey at his absolute prime and it’s a shame he was taken from his family and friends at the peak of his rise in cultural, music and business stature. I can’t help but feel like this is what people of 2Pac’s generation felt when he passed, except for all the spectacle of a manufactured coastal “beef” between rappers. Nipsey’s passing truly makes no sense other than it came from the hands of pure evil and jealousy that Nipsey never deserved. This evil is not unique to America, the country that is historically known for devouring its most prolific and prophetic citizens.
My two biggest, lingering thoughts about the way he passed are how his killer was not only part of the same “gang” but that he was technically the same “skin-folk” but obviously not kin-folk. The self hate is so real in this situation. It’s something that Meek Mill has talked a lot about in regards to the black female judge who sent him to jail for popping a wheelie. In the song “Gringing All My Life” Nipsey raps, “Damn right, I like the life I built/ I'm from west side, 60, shit, I might got killed.” Nipsey knows his life is not promised in such a violent area but still is rightfully prideful for building a positive business infrastructure where his family, friends and neighborhood can thrive at. The line gives me chills in light of his passing.
I pray they resurrect a statue in his owner and continue his visionary legacy of revamping his neglected neighborhood while empowering the people to strive for better.
Long Live Neighborhood Nip.
Nipsey Hussle, Ermias Joseph Asghedommay, may your legacy and blueprint last forever.
Much love. RIP.

I first heard about the rapper @bgperico when Nipsey Hussle mentioned him in an interview. I was happy to see him turn his brand into a legit storefront in the community the same way Nip did. Make sure you show love and protect that man as long as he is doing right. Nipsey didn't die...he multiplied!! Michael B Jordan New Movie Role Seems Therapeutic For Lauren London
Tumblr media
Michael B Jordan Felt Movie Role Could Be Therapeutic For Lauren London A gentle check-in from long-time friend Michael B. Jordan helped pave the way for Lauren London’s return to work after the death of her fiancé Nipsey Hussle two years ago. “Well, Mike reached out to me personally and I was like, ’I don’t know, Mike. I don’t know if it’s time for me to get back,” she recalled in a recent interview. “I wasn’t sure if I felt ready.” London plays Jordan’s wife in “Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse,” and the couple’s relationship in the script drew her in. Her character’s death is the catalyst for the rest of the film, with Jordan’s character seeking revenge against Russian ex-military forces who killed her, their unborn child and members of his Navy SEALS team. “The character … was real and it was genuine: their love, her passing … but still guiding him and being with him rang true for me.”
Filming the same year as Hussle’s death, London called the process cathartic.
“(It was) one of many things that helped in my healing,” she said. “I got to cry a lot, I was away from my children for 11 days, so I try to hold on really strong in front of them, and so the 11 days away allowed me to really be alone and grieve. “I think when something really tragic happens to you, you’re not sure your placement in the world afterwards and doing this film and being able to work again made me feel like I had something to give again,” London said. London, who starred in films like “ATL” and the popular TV series “The Game,” was engaged to Hussle and they had a son together before the rapper was gunned down in Los Angeles in March 2019. She poignantly eulogized him, calling him “majestic” and “brilliant” at a public memorial held at Staples Center. Hussle’s legacy remains strong on social media, where fans post tributes and express how the rapper continues to motivate them. Asked how she would like fans to continue to honor him, London said, “I think Nip said it best: The highest human act is to inspire, and I think that was a part of this purpose. We could all only wish to have such an impact on people that they are inspired by us, that they are motivated and encouraged by our words. “I could only hope to leave half an imprint on the world that he left,” she said. “I know he’s proud of that, I know he loves that, for sure.”
London said now that she’s back to work, she’s pursuing new projects, but her outlook is much different now.
“I want to be more in a ownership position. I want to create content that now aligns with my voice and purpose. Before, my career was to maintain and just to work. And I think I kind of lost my purpose in what I was doing it for. And now that’s becoming realigned.” The actor went on to say that he also hoped to draw from London’s experience as he attempted to tap into the loss his character experiences in the film. “And even for me, selfishly as an actor, to help me understand what I was going through, as the character. So, she helped me out a lot in this and helped me wrap my brain around what that felt like… and how to channel that in a real way,” said Jordan. “And also, we missed her. If this could be a start or, you know, a place to springboard and launch her back into what she does so well, I wanted to extend that to somebody that I cared about.” As previously reported, Without Remorse is London’s first film project since Nipsey passed away in 2019. Prior to accepting this role, she wondered if she’d ever return to acting  “Getting back to work was more than just being anxious because I wasn’t working. It was really a stand on, will I work again? Do I want to work? Who am I now? Is this where I still belong? Do I still hold space here? Should I?” she revealed during an interview with Essence.
“Without Remorse” is now airing on Amazon Prime Video.

The Big Paybacc: Nipsey Hussle’s Murderer Eric Holder Jr. Sentenced To 60 Years In Prison

This morning I received this playlist from @pdmacfarlane and now I sit in reflection on the life of Ermias Asghedom, BKA Nipsey Hussle, who passed away last year. He and I grew up in the same part of LA, and had many mutual friends. He even attended high school with my godbrother at Hamilton HS, so though we did not spend time together I supported his music and businesses. Since I have always been an avid streetwear collector and enthusiast, I watched as his brother Sam’s clothing designs gained popularity in the community and have collected a Crenshaw shirt in the past. Nipsey’s sound and poetry is an accurate representation of the culture’s psyche where I come from. He was able to connect to people worldwide through his music, giving exposition to what life can be like in Los Angeles for a young black man from a place that we affectionately refer to as “The District”. He was lived by so many, and was a community organizer that was interested in building a better life for the youth of our community. Nipsey was an example of what can happen when one plays the cards dealt to him with skill, flare, and discipline. He pursued his dreams with an unshakable resolve and relied on principles passed down by great thinkers and creators that came before him, and as an artist he received much respect from his peers. He believed the highest act of a person was to inspire, and he certainly lived an inspirational life. Nipsey, a Slauson Boy, was loved by his neighborhood and the world and for that reason his legacy lives on. Lately, when I am feeling stagnant or discouraged, I remember his slogan, “The Marathon Continues” and realize that I can carry on, work harder, and stay creative. Nip met his mortal end tragically due to gun violence, a lesson that I hope carries through the community and reminds us that a life is too precious to lose. As you spend this time in isolation, I hope that you take note that this is just another section of The Marathon we are all on, LLNH, Long Live Nip Hussle! 🙏🏾🏁💯💙

FRESH START: Lauren London Cops $1.7 Million L.A. Cottage
Tumblr media
Lauren London has purchased a new home in Los Angeles for a fresh start. Deets on her new home inside…
Tumblr media
March 31, 2020 will mark one year since Lauren London’s life was turned upside down. The father of her youngest son/soul mate Nipsey Hussle was fatally gunned down outside of his Marathon Clothing Store. Since then, she has been carrying on the Grammy winner/activist’s life.
As she adapts to her new life after the death of the love of her life, she’s taking a step for a fresh start. The “Games People Play” actress recently purchased a $1.7 million cottage in Los Angeles. The beautiful Spanish-style abode – built in 1949 – sits behind walls and gates for privacy in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Sherman Oaks.
It may look small, but it spans over 2,600 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The home features a sparkling pool with an inset spa, a backyard BBQ center with bar-style seating, and a covered porch. A huge redwood tree offers shade in the front lawn.
Variety shares more details about her new home:
Inside, the French-style double front doors open directly into a fireplace-equipped living room that connects both to an office/study, a formal dining area and a family room, the latter of which also sports a fireplace. The open-concept floorplan also features a new eat-in kitchen with luxury stainless appliances and a whitewashed brick backsplash. Neutral decor and wide-plank hardwood floors flow throughout the home, all custom-installed by the previous owners, “Days of Our Lives” and “Devious Maids” actor Matt Cedeño and his longtime wife Erica Franco.
The unconventionally shaped abode — it’s quite long and narrow, and only the rear half has an upper level — continues on into a cozy step-down media room/lounge tucked beneath the staircase. Up above is the master suite, which includes a private balcony, a walk-in closet with custom built-ins and a black-and-white bath with dual vanities, a soaking tub and rainfall showerhead. Three more guest/family bedrooms and a two-car attached garage complete the residential offering.
The house was once rented by "Married to Medicine Los Angeles" star Dr. Britten Cole. Go inside below:
You can check out pics of the home here.
It’s unclear if she kept the home she and Nipsey shared when he was alive. We’re sure the house holds a lot of memories for her and her family.

Most recently, Lauren and Nipsey’s family accepted the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for his track “Racks In The Middle,” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy during the 2020 Grammy Awards. They were also in the audience for the special Grammy tribute to Nipsey (that also featured Kobe Bryant) by DJ Khaled, John Legend, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, and Kirk Franklin. Nip scooped up a second Grammy for his feature on DJ Khaled's "Higher" with John Legend.
In memory of Nip, Puma and The Marathon Clothing will reissue pieces from their collection together on February 1st. The collection is named “Hussle and Motivate,” carrying on the legacy of his clothing line. The pieces were first released in September 2019. The “Hustle and Motivate” campaign features Lauren and his homies YG, J. Stone, and Pacman Da Gunman.
The west coast rapper’s final album Victory Lap also reached platinum status and he was awarded certified plaques during a pre-Grammy event. Lauren and Nips close friends were there to accept the awards.
He also recently earned eight gold records, including "Blue Laces 2," "Rap Niggas," "Grinding All My Life," "Hussle & Motivate," "Dedication" featuring Kendrick Lamar, "Victory Lap," "Last Time I Checc'd" featuring YG and "Double Up" featuring Belly and Dom Kennedy. Also, “Racks In The Middle” is now platinum.
By the way, Lauren posted a tribute to Kobe Bryant on social media following his untimely:
