we're going to pretend that people following me will care abt genshin 3.4 lantern rite spoilers so we're gonna put my entire deranged mess under a cut hahaha

*gently holds* MY XVS......

truly this lantern rite had EVERYTHING although truth be told, like, the way venti was kind of shoehorned in was a little disappointing. i felt a little bit baited by the way the 3.4 TRAILER HAD THAT ONE CUT RIGHT where it goes from VENTI PLAYING THE LYRE in the harbor to XIAO LOOKING UP AT THE FIREWORKS outside of wangshu inn, and then we see the xiao bit in the actual cutscene on day 2, but absolutely none of venti until the epilogue. and also we never see venti playing the lyre during the event story so it's like. whoever edited that pv absolutely had xv on the brain. like. what the hell was that it was magical i feel higher than a boat right now

BUT ANYWAY like i don't even care how obviously shoehorned in venti felt bc the interactions were all SO PERFECT i love love loved them. i loved the way hu tao just RAN INTO WANGSHU INN and started shouting for xiao, and then talked death to him until he was like "yeah sure i'll go to your dinner". they are so besties i love them their friendship is everything to me.

THE WAY. XV INTERACTED. IN FRONT OF US. xiao just like "well. um. there's this. um. um." TOTAL PANIC MODE n venti had to SAVE HIM with like "huuuh? did you forget already? i'm a bard!" like HELLO why do they need a COVER STORY why are they making up COVER STORIES TOGETHER WHAT WERE THEY DOING TOGETHER IN THE MARSH EARLIER like what kind of GAY SHIT--

also i'm pretty sure when xiao started explaining his relationship to venti, venti fluttered his lashes at him. like, i recorded the whole quest (bc i didn't last year with the final part n i REALLY WISH I HAD bc i STILL remember the dRAMATIC GASP i had when we had that one beiguang moment in the cutscene), and when i rewatched it earlier i was like. "HANG ON. DID HE JUST FLUTTER HIS LASHES" n rewatched it like three times. maybe my game was just stuttering BUT IT DEFINITELY LOOKED LIKE IT and maybe i'll gif it when i get home from work tonight

BUT ANYWAY (2) point is that the expression work this time was ON POINT like whoever's doing all that over at mhy hq needs to get a raise pronto. venti going (¬‿¬) at all the other immortals was so immaculate. you aren't subtle little man!!!

it's probably just shipper goggles on to an extent, but i feel like the xv implications were really strong this time around, with the parallels to that fontch guy's ancestor, and the guiping n everything... i'm kind of disappointed that we don't get to actually hear any of venti's unobstructed thoughts on xiao; like the ribbing n implications at the dinner are a lot of fun (like, they were totally making out in the marsh before dinner. we all know this. it's very clear imo), but it kind of makes me wonder why we can hear xiao like... do his Very Heavy Implying abt venti's importance to him (though again, he doesn't outright say anything-- we know the full extent n depth of xiao's feelings abt venti (romantic or not) bc we can read his character stories, so technically really he hasn't told us jack squat in the current canon timeline), but the best we get from venti are smug expressions. those expressions are very telling, ofc, but a very unhinged part of me wishes that mhy didn't feel the need to wrap up the xv in layers of allegory and metaphor and just outright heard one of them say, "this person is very dear to me." i know it's just the rabid shipper in me, and i need to be sedated, but i was really kind of hoping that we'd see the allegory w/the fontch guy's ancestor n madame ping lifted away at the end n, like, see or hear it be bound to xv outright. just for purely self-indulgent purposes o(--(

but anyway (3) i also love love loved all the playful ribbing, witty banter, and prev event callbacks btwn the characters!! hu tao n venti canonically making a pact to be poetry friends was SO GOOD you just KNOW hu tao is gonna commission venti to compose a JINGLE for wangsheng advertising purposes later, while zhongli n xiao are like, "this meeting never should have happened. we are all doomed." somehow i legitimately forgot that xq n venti know each other from irodori n was like, "...huh?" when xq mentioning knowing venti for like, a FULL two seconds. the way venti was like "damn you know i was right outside this entire time. can you believe the way some people ignore the wind?" n zhongli was like "hahaha (✿◡‿◡) the harbor is very busy this time of year (✿◠‿◠) it is very hard see or hear an individual person's whereabouts (^人^)"

AND ALSO. PAIMON BEING ELECTED AS THE "MOST DISTINGUISHED GUEST." PAIMON YOU GOT IN THE WAY OF MY DERANGED SELF-DELUSIONMENT MANY TIMES THIS LANTERN RITE BUT THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY. i thought it was interesting how no one nominated venti. like i was kind of expecting xiao to do it (but ofc he nominates traveler) which is fair honestly, n then i was like "IS LUMINE GONNA NOMINATE VENTI????" but then she nominated paimon n paimon was like "wait... me?????" n it was just EXACTLY like a bunch of adults telling the little kid they are the most specialest ever n they should have the honor of doing The Thing. as that little kid growing up, i know the feeling very well lol

there are other bits i'm just,,, rotating around in my mind, like venti and kazuha hanging out on the alcor, the way xiao goes "i can't taste the difference in xiangling's special almond tofu" when you go visit him afterwards, ALL THE GANQING THAT HAPPENED IN THE MAIN STORY I'M SO HAPPY FOR THEM I'M SO HAPPY FOR ME I WON VERY HARD THIS LANTERN RITE, n like,,, yeah!!!!

Two options I see 👀 who am I to only pick one? So here's some ideas for both!

1. When we met by the light of the moon 🌙 (Tiger & Bunny)

° The night had been clear and bright, a full moon shining down against the spotlights of Stern Bild. A perfectly warm and still summer night; at least it had been. When the call to vanquish crime arises, Wild Tiger leaps. Though when he isn't careful to watch his steps, expending his powers at a terrible moment, a brand new hero hops in like a bunny to save him. From there, the moonlight glows over a brand new start - albeit a rocky one. As though he had been the rabbit in the moon all along, Barnaby Brooks Jr bounds his way into Kotetsu Kaburagi's night, for better or worse.

The 5 times we met in secret (and the 1 time we didn't) 🙊 [FFVII]

° Cloud had seen Zack for the first time in the cafeteria, sitting at the table right behind him. Immediately he had been pulled in by such bright, enthusiastic laughter that none of the other First-Class SOLDIERS had. He saw him a second time while giving crash course sword lessons to Third-Class rookies in the training room; extremely supportive and not afraid to correct their mistakes with a word of encouragement. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th time Cloud met Zack, it's because they had bumped together in the hallways, the both of them caught in their own little bubbles, unaware that with every collision, they fit themselves closer and closer in those bubbles barriers. And the one time they met, not in secrecy or by accident, had been when Zack flagged him down in the cafeteria and had Cloud sit next to him, telling his friends about the 'cool cadet he kept running into'.

Max fic is hands down my fav. I love the sillies. I haven’t updated in a while due to school but I’m starting to get back into writing this which is super exciting!!!!!

I just wanted to write about and idiot in love with his best friend. As well as all the trials and tribulations that come with it. From family headcanons to how I personally (correctly :P) think they met to how to deal with your best friend (who you MAYBE are in love with) getting a boyfriend who is NOT you. Max goes through the true high school experience lol.

“ I am most grateful for the gift you’ve sent, Mr. Varnas. ” Grey mustache that would put Van Dyke to shame moved side to side as the words were uttered, as if gratitude tickled the man before him, while chubby fingers engulfed the champagne glass and held it so tightly one had to wonder if it would break at any moment.

“ It was my pleasure, Mr. Debrowsky. ” The champagne glass was raised slightly, an ambiguous smile on Alexander’s lips. Mr. Debrowsky’s son had a birthday recently, his birthday wish being a limited model of Varnas’ car Model Z. Alexander found out about it, and offered it as a present, no strings attached. While the young man rejoiced, his father was aware how things worked. Nothing Alexander did was for free. “ May I steal some of your time next week? ”

“ Of course, I’ll- ” The sentence was stopped when a young woman approached them like a shadow, her hand resting against Alexander’s waist, body pressed close. Blue eyes didn’t move from Mr. Debrowsky, they observed the uncomfortable feeling this small act invoked in him. Intriguing. “ We’ll talk later, if you don’t mind. ”

“ Not at all. ” The retreating figure of Mr. Debrowsky blended into the crowd, and his eyes looked down to meet the hazel eyes of the woman in question.

Hand placed itself against her back, finger trailed down the zipper of her dress, his touch pressing enough into it to be felt over the material, a cocky smirk on his lips. “ I thought you wanted to keep this low-profile. ” Some intrigued eyes watched them, the men and women alike, some eyes observed with jealousy, some with wonder, some with understanding. There were people who had been watching him with a hint of desire, some old friends, some new, and he made a note of each person who did so. Alexander’s voice was a murmur as he leaned in, a hint of amusement coating it. “ Are you by any chance jealous? Because this, ” His hand was on her hip, pulling her body closer, “ Could be seen as slightly possessive behaviour, tigrotta. ” The smile hadn’t disappeared, the same amusement, if not greater, shone in his eyes.

A waiter passed and he let his glass leave with the tray, his tongue clicking when he felt her hands scratch against his lower back. He knew she wouldn’t stay idle, would take the opportunity his suit gave her. The two of them always played with fire in each other’s proximity.

His fingers held her chin, to keep eyes focused only on him, no one else who may be staring. Thumb brushed against her lips, her lipstick leaving a small smear on the skin that touched her. “ Lipstick is yet another brush coated with paint, dolcezza, but it’s best used when you print the shape of your lips on someone’s skin. How about you print it on mine? ”

Origami Tigers

It had been a long time since you had crossed his mind. But, as he gingerly plucked the intricately folded origami tiger from his desk, he knew you were there. You were on his base, somewhere.

Part of him wanted to rush off to find you. He let his thumb slide over the shining golden paper, thin as tissue, folded and folded and folded in on itself to make this tiny, stalking beast. It was soft, and so carefully made, and it reminded John of those same qualities that he had found in you.

Why had you left?

It had been out of your control. Your career and his career and the bombs and the guns… it was all a blur. But, ten years had passed since he had held evidence of your paper menagerie in his fingers, and even the thought of your return made his body tingle with the numbness of his shock.

The tiger fit in his chest pocket, right over his heart, and he went on the hunt.

He stalked through the main rooms, searching faces, looking in office windows, waiting for that shock of hair to catch his eye, that shallow sloping shoulder, those tiny frag scars on your left hand…

Just when he thought he had lost you again, he spotted you. You were sitting on top of the hood of his TAC-V, flipping through pages on your datapad, lost in your work. He couldn’t help but sigh at the sight of you. Ten years had been good to you. A woman’s wide hips, a body full of hard work and muscles to show for it, that same glowing skin. He felt like a starving man who had just been fed. He was a machine that had just been plugged back in, a paint pot ready for a brush. Alive.

“Sparrow?” His voice cracked, low and dark in the quiet of the warehouse.

You turned to him and took him in. He had deep smile lines at the corners of his eyes, and his beard had grown out in full. But, that voice. He was your John.

“Hey, tiger,” you grinned, “You found me.”

You jumped down from the vehicle, not knowing how this first meeting would go. Would he be distant? Had he moved on? Did he string a golden ring through his neck chain every morning, or was he single? Did he even want you anymore?

Your questions were all answered at once.

He scooped you up in his arms, big and heavy, crushing you to his chest. You cried out in relief, saying his name, muffled, your face pressed into his broad chest,

“John…”

“Little bird.”

He pulled you away from him, cupping your cheeks in his hands, and you saw those bright blue irises gleam with fresh, unshed tears. Worry and concern were at war with hope and certainty all over his face, and without so much as a breath of hesitation, he crashed into you with a kiss.

The softness of his lips was so familiar, so comfortingly known, your body responded on instinct, remembering all of the rewards that came with this feeling of his skin on your skin. You celebrated in each other, tasting the inside of your mouths, licking each others’ tongues, trying to scent the other’s past.

It was as if each kiss and suck and nip at each other was asking: Where have you been?

Another kiss answered back: Away from you, my love.

A deep caress with his tongue begged for clarity: Away? Come back to me.

You convinced him with a chaste kiss on his shaven chin: I’m here.

And here was all that mattered.

Walking along the pathway of the riverbank, you listened to the soft sounds of the water lazily flowing by while finding a spot in the grass. You lie back with your hands behind your head, gazing up at the sunset in the sky. The clouds were painted with beautiful streaks of peach, lavender and fuchsia, swirling into a perfect blend of tropical bliss. The colors offered a semblance of comfort after a long day of patrol - 14 hours, to be exact. The current condition of your hero suit was more than enough evidence of the grueling day. If it could talk, it would be begging to be washed. Reaching into your pocket, you pull out your phone to check the time. 5:47pm The exhaustion was creeping along your aching muscles, warning you to head home before you lack the will to do so. There’s one thing you came here to do - that you needed to be here to do.

You tap the lock screen of the phone and swipe to your contacts. In the favorites list, you click on your favorite name in the whole world.

“ 💥 Katsuki 🧡 ”

The line rings a handful of times before it goes to voicemail, beeping in your ear. Taking a deep breath, you begin to speak excitedly.

“Hey ‘Suki. Today was a busy as hell - sorry I didn’t get a chance to call earlier. I had the sweetest little girl thank me today for helping her and her mom bring their groceries to their doorstep. She came running over to me and asked for help, I couldn’t resist. You should have seen her cute little cheeks, Kats, covered in freckles around her precious blue eyes. It was only six bags, the mom was so embarrassed! I kept telling her it was no trouble, that’s what heroes do. And then…,” you pause.

“Sorry, I’m rambling again. I must be picking it up from Izuku. Anyways, I’ll be heading home in a bit. I needed to clear my head after a long day and swung by our favorite spot by the river.”

A shaky breath escapes your lips, unable to hold back the tear rolling down your dirt stained cheek.

“I’ll be stopping by to visit soon. I’m sorry for not coming by earlier this week, you know how it is with our line of work. I'll be sure to grab your favorite flowers, too. Tiger lilies, right?”

You bite your lip to swallow the sob lodged in your throat.

“I miss you…more than you could ever know. I love you, Katsuki. I’ll talk to you later.”

You click the “End Call” button with trembling fingers. A picture of Katsuki, smiling ear to ear with your face squished up against his cheek on a sunny day, appears briefly as his contact picture fades to black.

“You’re going to wake up, I know you are,” you murmur to yourself through broken hiccups. “You’re not gone…you’re going to wake up, Katsuki. You have to.”

The reality of the situation weighs on your shoulders, but that didn’t mean you had to live in said reality…not yet, anyways.

Until the faint droning of Katsuki's heartbeat monitor was silenced, he was alive.

He's just resting.

i've been listening to "my tears ricochet" too much and the 'just not home' lyric always reminds me of not being able to return to someone you love, or somewhere you loved :( ** i ended up reposting/reworking this to be fem!reader instead of bakudeku cause it just didn't feel like it worked? i like this way better lol

okay that's great and all but hear me out. what if they had pokemon. [id in alt, more under the cut!]

hi. (wearing a shirt that says "ask me about my yakuza pokemon au" but i'm looking in a mirror so i just start going nuts right off the bat)

woah it's some guy with a dragon tattoo!! lotsa dragons, lotsa fighters, and of course THE parent pokemon!! the zangoose is part of a matching set with majima's seviper, naturally. also it matches his autism stare. blaziken's there out of respect for nugget.

GO GO HARUKA!!! lotsa baby pokemon when she's younger :] the pichu turns into an idol pikachu mainly because i wanted something for her that'd fall in line with that but i also think igglybuff is ugly. sorry. happiny's there in particular because of the crazy eldest daughter syndrome she catches from y3 onwards LOL. that caretaker role hit her hard. sorry girl.

seviper's part of the matching set with kiryu's zangoose, naturally :] plus it fits the snake thing he's got going on with his tattoo. also some dogs!! specifically some fucked up ones!! also did you know froslass only goes after men it thinks is handsome. yeah.

daigo's so funny in y2 imo. aegislash is there in particular because it detects innate qualities of leadership!! anyway that bisharp becomes a kingambit when he's chairman (thumbs up!!)

tiger man gets the tiger man. cat. lots of big burly guys for the big burly guy. etc etc. i like that his training in y4 is just to go mining so i HAD to have at least one fossil mon. hi bastiodon!!!

yasuko's getting hit with the one-two of Beauty(TM) and Small(TM) versions of what her older brother's got :']

tanimura gets a lot of fighty guys, in particular i tried to find ones that sorta fit with the little asia stuff he's got going on. blastoise is there because of the tortoise thing and he's got a gun so ??? actually i might switch blastoise out if i end up exploring this au more LOL and zebstrika's there because he's a horse girl <3

akiyama!! a bunch of kicky guys to fit his fighting style and talonflame because of his phoenix thing. audino because he's the lifeline of kamurocho :]

“well, the rules suck. who made them?”

“i did.”

your friends are staying the night because it’s late and everyone has been drinking, which is the perfect excuse for a sleepover. you’ve decided to split it so that you, liz, mj, and betty sleep in your room. you thought peter, harry, and ned could take the living room, but peter would rather be with you.

peter holds both your hands and swings them back and forth.

“ugh, y/n/n. you and your rules. why?”

“so there’s no funny business. you know ned and betty would go at it like rabbits.”

“you think liz and mj wouldn’t?”

“no, they have class. besides, someone’s gotta keep harry company.”

peter loops his arms around your waist, pouting out his bottom lip.

“but i wanna sleep with you.”

you laugh and take his hands again. he keeps his arms around you.

“your sex drive is out of control, tiger.”

“no, not like that. i mean, i’m not opposed, but i meant i wanna sleep in your bed.”

“why, you’re above the couch?”

“because i wanna be with you.”

you peck peter’s lips with a grin. he’s making his puppy eyes at you, and no matter how cute they are, he should know by now that they don’t work on you.

“i know, but some guy time would be good for you, and i need girl time.“

betty pops her head out of your bedroom door.

“y/n, c’mon! liz raided your bathroom for stuff to do facials.“

“that’s my cue. be right there, betts!”

peter tightens his arms around you.

“seriously? you’re such a baby.“

“your baby.”

“very cute, but let me go.”

“why can’t i just join you? i like facials.”

“so do them with ned and harry. you’ve gotta let me go now, peter.”

“nuh uh.”

“peter.”

it takes some effort, but you manage to pry peter off of you and free yourself from his arms. peter whines like the baby he is. you bite back a smile.

“i’ll see you later, okay?”

“fine. enjoy girl time.”

you connect your lips with his once more. peter tries to deepen the kiss. you slip away before he can and run off to your room, where your friends are waiting for you. you turn back to look at peter, smirking. he hears you and the rest of the girls giggling, then the door shuts behind you.

peter accepts his defeat and heads into the living room to join ned and harry.

harry sits in the middle of the couch with his arms spread out on either cushion. he sips a beer while ned searches for something on your tv.

“parker, there you are! leeds was just about to introduce me to star wars.”

“you’ve never seen star wars?”

peter sits down next to harry.

“nope, not a single one.”

“dude, that’s insane. they’re cult classics.”

“exactly what i said. harry, we’re about to change your life, bro.”

“i’m counting on it, leeds. hit it.”

ned presses play on the movie. harry passes him his beer. ned takes a swig and offers it to peter, but he declines.

peter and ned answer all of harry’s questions about star wars, which are numerous, but they don’t mind. it’s always nice when someone appreciates their star wars knowledge. harry and ned get easily invested in the movie. as much as peter loves it, his mind is elsewhere.

he keeps hearing laughter and squeals coming from your room, and he can make out every single one that comes from you.

what he’d give to be in there.

“you know what the girls were doing earlier? facials.”

“oh, shit. for real? that’s kinky.”

“not those kinds of facials, ned. the ones with face masks.”

“no, leeds is right. girls do kinky shit at sleepovers. sheesh, if only we could see what they were up to.”

that gives peter an idea.

“who says we can’t?”

the three of them tiptoe to your room, lead by peter. he puts a finger to his lips to signal ned and harry to be quiet. ned is behind him, and harry is behind ned. peter opens up your door a crack and peeks in.

liz is doing betty’s hair while she reads a magazine, mj is drawing, and you’re coloring in her work.

yeah, super kinky.

“i can’t see,” ned whispers. “you’re not missing much,” harry replies.

“peter, why do you get to be in the front? i’m the shortest.”

“because it was my idea.”

“so what?”

“so shut up.”

peter leans in to get a better look at you. you’re lying on the floor, on your stomach, tongue stuck out in concentration as you color. you’ve changed into pajamas, one of peter’s shirts. he absolutely swoons at that.

“what’s betty doing?”

“quiet, leeds. you’re gonna get us caught.”

“yeah, ned. be quiet.”

“will someone just tell me what’s going on?”

peter looks inside again, but none of you are there.

“they’re gone.”

“huh?”

“how?”

“i don’t know, they’re just gone. maybe they-“

the door opens up, and peter falls forward. liz has her hand on the doorknob. the rest of you are beside her. she puts her hands on her hips, glaring down at peter, then up at harry and ned.

“boys.”

ned and harry exchange a look.

“this was your idea, pete. you’re on your own.”

“what?”

“yeah, i’m with harry. sorry!”

the two of them run back to the living room, leaving peter to deal with all four of your wraths. he smiles awkwardly at you.

“this isn’t what it looks like.”

“were you spying on us?” betty asks. “perv,” mj adds.

“okay, it’s exactly what it looks like. but i can explain.”

“start talking,” liz says.

you extend a hand to help peter up, a smirk playing on your lips. he takes it and gets to his feet. heat rushes to his cheeks as he meets your eyes.

“i missed you.”

“really? that’s all you’ve got?” mj scoffs.

peter nods. you chuckle and pinch one of his blushing cheeks.

“that’s sweet, tiger. but spying on us isn’t cool. go back to the boys.”

“but i-“

“you heard her,” betty echoes.

she crosses her arms. liz shoves peter, and he stumbles back into the doorway.

“y/n, do something!”

you shrug. mj presses her lips into a sarcastic smile and slams the door in peter’s face, then the four of you continue as you were.

peter, ned, and harry finish the rest of star wars. they put on the next one after that, seeing as they have nothing better to do. ned and harry share the rest of the beer, which makes them sleepy. they eventually end up passing out. their heads are rested against the other’s, both snoring.

so much for guy time.

screw it, peter wants to see you, and he has one more trick up his sleeve that he knows you can’t resist.

liz is asleep on mj’s shoulder. mj is still awake, but her eyes are barely open. betty is curled up under your covers. you’re about to head to bed yourself when you hear knocking at your door. you pad over to the door and open it. not to your surprise, it’s peter.

“who is it? the perv?” mj asks through a yawn. “yup. be right back,” you say.

you leave your room and shut the door behind you. peter grins widely, too widely.

“what is it now, peter?”

“nothing. i just came to say goodnight.”

“okay, goodnight.”

you turn to go back in your room, but peter grabs you by your waist. he slides his hands down to your hips and inches his way closer to you, so close your lips are almost touching.

“could i get a goodnight kiss?”

“you don’t have to ask.”

with that, peter kisses you softly. he backs you against your door and lets his hands move lower and lower down your body. you giggle against his lips, pushing him back by his shoulders.

“nice try, tiger. but i’m going to bed.”

peter ignores you and kisses down your neck. his hands travel underneath your shirt.

“i love it when you wear my clothes, y’know. it’s so hot.”

“doesn’t take much to get you going.”

peter runs his fingers up and down your sides. the feeling of his warm hands on your bare skin sends shivers down your spine. he tugs on either end of your panties, leaving a kiss on your collarbone. his dark eyes lock with yours as he presses himself against you. you can feel him through his sweatpants, prompting that familiar ache in your core. you instinctively buck your hips.

“you either, angel.”

he’s right, you’re too worked up now to go to sleep. you need him. you roll your eyes, but give in.

“bathroom, now.”

you hurry into the bathroom and turn on the light. peter smiles in satisfaction. you pull him inside by the collar of his shirt, locking the door behind him.
