MCU characters (any you want) where the Reader if completly oblivious to the flirting?
That would be me. I can't ever tell when someone's flirting. You'd figure I could from the amount of romance I've written but I always figure they're joking or something lmao.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Loki, Namor, Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, Gamora, Peter Parker, Druig x Reader
Tags: fluff, developing relationship, flirting, teasing, kissing, oblivious Reader
A/N: Show me a big, glowing sign that you're flirting and then I will see if I'll reciprocate.
Tumblr media
Bucky would never want to be pushy with you but the man has his limits for sure. He would drop a lot of signals your way in hopes you would see them, he would compliment you a lot more then his friend, always pay attention to you when you're talking and try his best to compliment you when ever he could. When he saw that he was getting nowhere, very slowly at that, he walked up to you like a man on a mission, looked you in the eye in a very, very serious manor that made you think you did something wrong and asked you to go out. No more guessing or being around the bush for you, it's a yes or a no. So, what will you choose?
Tumblr media
Sam wouldn't lay it on too thick with you. At first he wouldn't even be aware of his own feelings for you. It took him a long time to come to terms with them but once he did he noticed that you had the exact same problem. It was honestly funny, you were so much worse then he was when it came to noticing his flirting. He even asked you out on a few dates that you weren't aware were dates until he couldn't take it anymore and spelled it out for you on the third date. You were so embarrassed, he tried so hard for you and you're were so dumb. You couldn't even point to your first date. Well in that case Sam will gladly take you on as many dates as you want, for real this time.
Tumblr media
Loki could not believe you didn't pick up on his flirting. Not just his flirting but what about all the times he kissed your hand, or called you beautiful, or called you sweetheart? Do you think he does that for everyone? He likes to play with people but not you, he was genuine in his advices towards you. Did you really not pick up on any of them? Sure a friends with benefits deal could work for him too, if you returned his flirting in the first place. He got really forward with you, kissing your hand, your cheek, whispering sweet things to you, his eyes always following you, building up that sexual tension until you were the one who couldn't take it anymore and kissed him. Congratulations, you finally understand how he feels. Now he will buy you dinner and a drink, and then... well let's see where the night goes.
Tumblr media
Oh poor Namor was beside himself. He would visit you at the surface constantly, leaving you little gifts and trinkets from the sea or his kingdom in hopes that you would understand how much you mean to him. You did not. Even when you went swimming and he would compliment your figure, what pretty form you have when swimming, how you would look amazing swimming beside him through his kingdom, clearly thinking of you as a future partner, you figured he was just being really friendly because you knew he didn't have the highest opinion on many surface dwellers. He pulled you under the ocean and kissed you passionately, bubbles of surprise surfacing as he made his affections clear, in his territory, leaving not a drop of doubt anymore.
Tumblr media
Kate always asked you to her archery and martial arts tournaments, always made sure you had the best seat, always asked you to be her plus one on any events her mothers company held, always left you cute little notes. That was not enough. How that was not enough she did not know. For all the medals and trophies and tests you were the one thing she could not figure out. But Kate was no quitter, no way. And she chose a, admittedly very flashy way of asking you out. She asked you to help her practice archery at her place and when you weren't looking she tied a note on one arrow. When she fired it she asked you to go and pick it up. The note was written in a purple marker, telling you that she would love if you went to the next dance with her as her official romantic partner.
Tumblr media
Clint does not have the patience to wait around for you to figure out anymore. Not after months of dropping hints. He even calls you to tell you good night when he's on missions. For gods sake he gets teased by his friend all the time about you and even they don't buy that you're not in a relationship. Time to take things to the next level. He will no longer be... well he wasn't exactly subtle, at least not by his standards but now he was going to confess properly. It happened before he went on his next mission, he gave you a big hug and told you he likes you a lot, has liked you for a while, he needs to go now but have that answerer ready by the time he comes knocking on your door again. And he will come back, he always does.
Tumblr media
Gamora was always a woman of action. She left very little room for doubt with her flirting, her kisses, saying how cute and hot you look when you fight, all the compliments she gave you during sparing sessions. It was all out there. It was supposed to be so obvious. And yet it turned out the only way she could get to you was if she was painfully blunt. Painfully being the key word. She challenged you to a match, knocked you on your back, straddled you and commented how nice you look under her, if only it was under different circumstances. Seeing how flustered that made you she offered to make it a reality, but only if you agreed to go on a date, she doesn't make advances like this towards just anyone you know.
Tumblr media
Peter is losing his damn, brilliant mind over what he's doing wrong here. Mind you he hasn't had that many relationships but he thought he was pretty clear in his intentions in them. So why are you different? Are his notes not cute enough? Maybe he should have been more direct when he asked you on a night patrol date. Regardless he won't make you guess yourself anymore. He will do the old romantic cliché of bringing you flowers... while hanging upside down from a web and asking you if you'd maybe wanna go out sometime. If not then at least take the flowers, it was a little awkward swinging around New York with such a large assortment of them. He's gonna end up in the papers for sure.
Tumblr media
Druig wishes he had the ability to read minds instead of control them because he feels like it would make this situation a whole lot easier. He would very much like to know if you feel the same way as he does, or if you don't at least reject him properly. When he hears that you only thought of all their outings as friendly he has to stop himself from laughing because he thought that was a joke. No, you were being completely serious with that statement. In that case would you still stay the same if he cupped your face and kissed you slowly, poring every ounce of his affection into it? Do you get it now? He doesn't want to be just friends with you, he wants so much more.

all's well that ends well
Maria Hill x Reader
Word count: 1.8k
Summary: A couple of months after being rejected by Maria, R gets hurt during the Battle of Sokovia and it brings them back together. Pretty angsty with some fluff at the end and plenty of best friend Nat.
Based on this request from a while back but I decided to finish it up. I would love to write for Maria more so if you have any ideas please send them my way <3
Tumblr media
“I’m so sorry.”
Maria’s words repeated in your head every day since you bore your heart out to her.
The worst part was probably that she had never told you if she reciprocated your feelings. She’d just insisted it wouldn’t work out; it wasn’t worthwhile. You couldn’t believe what you saw between the two of you was imagined. It couldn’t have been.
You saw her through the glass door of one of many conference rooms, sitting outside, waiting to speak to Fury while you were in your meeting with him.
You should have been happy. You had just been promoted and were going to be an Avenger, yet all you could think about was a girl who didn’t care about you enough to be honest with you.
You did your best to block Maria out of your mind for the remainder of the meeting, attempting to soak up the moment. This was the kind of thing you’d been working towards since you started at SHIELD Academy.
You needed this. You needed a win. Having such a huge distraction would be great for you, and the opportunity to learn from a legend such as Natasha Romanoff was incredible.
You moved your belongings into the Avengers Tower during the following week. Your bedroom was right next to Natasha’s.
Per Fury’s request, Natasha trained you multiple times a week and reported back to him on your progress.
The more time you spent training with her, the better you got to know her.
Before you knew it, Natasha had become your closest friend. After feeling crushed about Maria, she was exactly what you needed in your life - someone unwavering.
Natasha knew what it was like to be alone. You did too. Maybe that was why the two of you clicked so well.
She was also very excited to have another woman in the tower. Before you it was her and the rest of the boys.
You spent most of your free time with her. She helped you heal your heart.
With some time, you no longer felt your stomach churn every time you saw Maria at work.
You were starting to feel okay.
-
You knew Natasha and Maria were friends, but it wasn’t something you really ever thought about.
You were reminded of the fact when they hugged to greet each other at Tony’s party a couple nights after you helped the Avengers obtain Loki’s scepter from Strucker.
You stood awkwardly behind Natasha until the redhead moved on to greet another one of your colleagues and Maria’s eyes landed on you.
Anxiety bubbled up in your chest as you gave her a polite smile and a loose hug.
“Maria,” you nodded.
“Hi,” she smiled, though it didn’t nearly reach her eyes the way it used to when she spoke to you. “I haven’t really gotten a chance to congratulate you since you got promoted.”
You didn’t expect a conversation.
“You’re looking good out there.”
You could feel your cheeks turning red, “Thank you.”
There was so much you wanted to say to her. You held your tongue, though, you would only hurt yourself.
Before either of you had a chance to say anything more, Natasha returned and began to speak to the brunette. You tuned out their conversation quickly as the only thing you could think about was how terribly you missed everything about Maria.
After a minute, you excused yourself to the bar, promptly ordering two shots and throwing them back.
You were soon joined by Tony and Thor who you ordered drinks with to celebrate your victory. When Steve joined the three of you, you took another shot with him. It was not long before you became a little too tipsy for a work party faster than you’d realized what you’d done.
Upon noticing you hadn’t seen Natasha since you arrived at the party together, you scanned the room for red hair.
You found her sitting on a chair, listening to a conversation between a couple of people, and clumsily sat yourself on her lap, eliciting a laugh from her.
“Someone’s been busy,” she said with a smirk that turned into a smile.
“Oh yeah, I can’t say no to an open bar.”
“Obviously,” she teased and you saw a glint in her eye that made your heart pick up. “You seeing anyone lately?”
You rolled your eyes with a knowing smile, “Prying while I’m drunk, Nat? I didn’t think that was your style.”
“That’s not a no,” she pressed on.
“You’re very nosy. But no, I haven’t even thought of that since… since I joined.” You thought back to what Maria told you. “Besides, I don’t need a distraction or anything.”
“I dunno,” Natasha shrugged. “doesn’t hurt to have some fun- and seeing someone doesn’t mean you have a distraction in your life. There’s a person behind the big, strong, Avenger everyone sees. Being human doesn’t make you weak.”
Your eyes flitted to Maria who was across the room, engaged in a conversation with Steve, and you rolled your eyes in annoyance, “You should tell that to her.”
Natasha’s face crinkled in confusion and she followed your line of sight, her eyes widening as she turned back to face you, “What is that supposed to mean?”
You groaned and had to stop yourself from facepalming, drinking made you loose lipped, “I’ll tell you about it sober, we’re not getting into this now.”
-
The last thing you thought you would have to do that night was fight sentient fucking robots while intoxicated. You thought you had been holding your own well enough but got knocked to the floor when a bogie hit you in the head.
Your ears rang loudly and you’d been sure the stupid piece of metal was about to kill you as you held your head in agony until you heard gunshots and it never came.
You had Maria to thank for that.
-
The next time you found yourself being thrown to the ground by a bogie was in Sokovia. You weren’t so lucky this time, you landed on a sharp piece of metal that lodged itself in your abdomen as your chin slammed into the concrete ground.
You cried out in pain as you tried to get your bearings, knowing that if you didn’t act quickly you would die.
Searing pain coursed through your entire body as you reached to unstrap your gun from your thigh. Hot tears ran down your cheeks and mixed with dirt and the fresh blood on your chin.
You shot the hunk of metal until it collapsed on the floor. You were grateful the lifeboats were taking people from the floating island to the helicarrier every couple of minutes and hobbled over as quickly as your body could go in this state.
Every breath and step you took was excruciating. The only thing you could think about was how badly you wanted to survive.
The moment Steve laid his eyes on you, he gestured to Natasha and ran over, picking you off your feet and carrying you the rest of the distance. You let out a sob of relief when you no longer had to rely on your feet carrying you the rest of the way, not knowing how much further you would have been able to make it.
You heard him speaking over comms and vaguely caught Natasha’s response, telling him to take you onto the helicarrier for medical attention while she continued to direct people onto lifeboats.
“You’re going to be alright, okay?” Steve murmured, and you couldn’t tell if he even believed himself.
Nonetheless, you nodded into his neck and let your eyes close.
-
You woke up in a bed with an IV attached to you. You were grateful that the lights were mostly turned off, besides a lamp in the room, keeping your eyes from hurting too much.
Your whole body ached, your stomach especially, and you groaned restlessly.
Natasha was sitting in a chair to your right reading a book and Maria was beside her, her eyes closed. When Natasha heard you, her head snapped up from her book and she let out a sigh of relief, taking your hand. “Hey, you’re okay.”
She offered you some water and gave you medication that was left for you in case you woke up, “This should make you feel better, you’ll probably be a little drowsy soon but the pain should go away.”
“Thank you, ‘Tasha,” you smiled gratefully as best you could.
“You scared me, you know - all of us, really,” She said, her voice a little shaky. “I’m glad you’re alright.”
“Me too,” you chuckled.
Natasha smiled softly and cleared her throat, “I’ll come check on you again soon but I know Maria wants to talk to you.”
She nudged the brunette awake gently, nodding in your direction, “Hey, she just woke up a couple minutes ago.”
Maria muttered a ‘thank you’ to Natasha for waking her up and moved to her previously occupied seat when she left.
“You feel okay?” she asked when the two of you alone, and you figured she was avoiding whatever it was she actually wanted to say.
“No, I was impaled, I feel like shit… Why are you here?”
Maria’s eyebrows raised for a second, caught off guard by how blunt you were being, and took a breath, “I wanted to apologize.”
“For?”
“When I rejected you. I -”
“That’s not necessary, Maria, I really don’t want to rehash this.”
She shook her head and clenched her jaw, “Please. I - I was wrong.”
You quirked a brow. That was new. It wasn’t every day Maria Hill was wrong about something. And it definitely wasn’t every day Maria Hill looked like she was about to cry.
Maria took your silence as permission to continue, “I’m in love with you. And I’m sorry you had to almost die for me to admit it. I was so afraid to let myself love you because I was terrified knowing that something like this could happen to you. But when I got the call I realized that I could die never knowing what it’s like to kiss you.” Her voice broke as she finished her sentence. She let out a breath to steady herself as a tear streaked down her face.
You reached out your hand to the edge of the bed, palm up. Maria put her hand on top of yours and you squeezed lightly.
Her breath hitched and tears welled in your eyes while you watched her lips turn downwards as she tried not to cry. “I’m so sorry,” Those words sounded different this time.
Your heart ached for her. You nodded, understanding. “I know… it’s okay.”
She swallowed and wiped her tears, taking a deep breath. “I’m sorry.”
You shook your head, a soft smile playing on your lips, “Why don’t you find out what it’s like to kiss me already, hm?”

Masterlist
Tumblr media
"Hey, Bruce," You call, running after the scientist as he rushes through the med bay, tablet in hand. "Bruce!"
"What's up, Y/n?" He asks, turning to face you. "Are you gonna ask if they've reconnected to Loki's comms again?"
You let out a breath. "How did you guess?"
Loki - your extremely loving partner - was sent on a mission earlier today along with some of the other Avengers. It's often for you to continue work while he's away; a usually vain attempt to distract your mind from the dangers he could be in.
"Yes, they reconnected a few moments ago. He's alright," Bruce's reassuring smile lifts a huge weight off of your shoulders. "Nat said he-"
Bruce is cut off by an urgent-sounding noise on his tablet. He taps a few times before speaking.
"Hey Tony. Everything good?"
A crackly voice leaves the device. "No... Clint i- injured... retur- base."
"Got it. Get JARVIS to send me the details."
"Will do, over... ou-"
The call ends and Bruce visibly tenses. "Y/n. Go prepare and meet me and the team in Surgery 2."
Your relief instantly fades away to jittery nerves. You nod and turn around, quickly heading to grab your scrubs.
The pace around you picks up as word spreads over the incoming Avengers - no one is entirely sure how bad Clint is injured, but Bruce fears the worst. It doesn't take long for you to prepare - your hands are washed, scrubs, gloves and an apron are on, a disposable mask covers your nose and mouth and your hair is tied up tightly.
You file into the room with the rest of your team and begin setting up the equipment, readying supplies that will likely be needed. The thought of Loki niggles at the back of your mind. You're annoyed you can't meet him on the landing pad as usual. But it's not like him to just... disappear in the middle of a mission. Something must have happened...
You attempt to push the thoughts away. Your top priority now is to take care of Clint; to make sure he survives.
"The Avengers have landed in the Quinjet. Dr Banner says to be ready," JARVIS' mechanical voice rings down from the ceiling; you take a deep breath and ready yourself to do what you do best.
Bruce and the porter wheels a sedated Hawkeye into the bay; everyone gets to work straight away, Bruce overseeing the procedure.
It takes over two hours of surgery. Clint had lost a lot of blood from cuts and bruises everywhere. His worst injury, however, was a large piece of debris wedged in his lower abdomen - it took a lot of effort to remove the debris without causing any extra trauma. With some donor blood in his system and a few stitches here and there, the surgery was concluded and Clint was wheeled to a bay to come to his senses.
"Well done Y/n, you did good in there," Bruce congratulates, offering a smile. "Have the day off, you deserve it. I'll get one of the others to do the paperwork,"
You sigh quietly, happy to have some time off. "Thanks Banner. Don't overwork yourself! I'll come check on Clint later today."
"See you later,"
You turn and walk out of the Med Bay, the doors swinging to-and-fro before shutting behind you. Your gaze floats around the empty corridor, looking for a certain trickster God - sometimes he loiters outside the Med bay while you're in surgery, waiting to make sure you're okay. But today he's no where to be seen.
You shrug it off. He's just been on a mission and is probably exhausted, so he'll likely be in your room; or his, if he's not feeling the best. You take the lift up to the living quarters, skipping the common room and heading straight to your room.
"Hey Lo-" You push the door open, but your bed is empty; the bathroom door open. The room is eerily silent, and somewhat cold. Something feels... off.
You walk over to his room and knock twice - there's no answer. So, you walk right in. Loki never minds about you being in his personal space, so why would today be any different?
"Loki? You in here?" You hear a scuffle behind the closed bathroom door. "Loki?"
"Yep, I'm in the bathroom," He responds, his voice muffled by the separation between you both.
"Are you okay?"
"Fine!" He says much too quickly. Your eyes narrow with scepticism.
He bursts from the bathroom, the door crashing against the wall from his strength. He winces, a lopsided grin creeping on to his face.
"I'm fine," He repeats.
"For the God of lies, you really are a bad liar," You move forwards, rising onto your tip toes and gently angling his face down so you can analyse it.
"Uh, that's rude," He mumbles as you move his face this way and that, scrutinizing every part of his pale complexion for so much as a scratch.
Loki understands what you're doing almost instantly, his eyes rolling playfully.
"I'm fine, darling. I promise,"
You release his face and look down at your feet. "I'm sorry, I just... what happened on the mission? Bruce said your comms had been disconnected and... I panicked I guess."
Loki would typically tilt your head up with a singular finger and promise you that he was fine; that everything is okay. But today he doesn't. He stands silently - you can hardly bear it.
You hold your arms out and envelope him in a big hug. He doesn't return it straight away, what can only be described as a shudder flowing through every inch of his body.
Pulling away just as his arms try to snake around your waist. Your face contorts into one of worry, a small hint of hurt shining through your façade.
"Are you sure you're alright, my love?"
He nods somewhat sombrely.
"You know what?" He speaks. "I just remembered I have to feed the horses,"
Loki's eye twitches almost unnoticeably at his mistake - his lie is clearly one he's told many a time on Asgard.
"Feed the horses, huh?" You can't help but smirk slightly.
"It's a metaphor," He clarifies, pulling himself together and looking as if he hasn't just told the worst lie in the entire multiverse. "I have to go make sure Thor has enough pop tarts."
You hum in suspicious acknowledgement as Loki begins edging towards the door.
"Sure, sure."
"I'll see you later, darling." You're about to ask if you can come with him, but he's gone before a single syllable has left your lips.
The room around you feels much too quiet without him, and much too lonely too. What is up with him? Did he see something on the mission that bothered him? Or is he deliberately trying to hide something from you?
It's often that he's a terrible liar in front of you - despite his title - due to an unspoken rule he created, likely near the beginning of your relationship. It seems he vowed to himself never to lie to you, hence meaning that when he does lie they come out twisted and blocky, not smooth like his deceit towards anyone else.
You're unsure of what to do with yourself, but end up deciding to take a shower to ease away the stress of the day. By the time you've finished and spent time drying your hair, you're sure Loki will have finished... 'making sure Thor has enough pop tarts'.
~★~
"Hey Thor, Nat. You seen Loki?" You ask as you wander into the common area, feeling refreshed and a little less tense.
"No, Lady Y/n. I apologise, I last saw him as we departed the jet of the quills earlier today."
You share a look with Nat, trying your best not to laugh.
"Thor, it's a Quinjet." Nat emphasises, rolling her eyes and barely concealing a smirk.
"Yes, that's exactly what I said, Lady Natasha. The jet of the quills." Thor beams like a toddler with candy.
Nat audibly sighs. "Sorry Y/n, I haven't seen him either."
"No worries." You mumble, looking around the room rather hopelessly. "You don't happen to know what happened on the mission with his comms, do you?"
Nat purses her lips for a moment. "It was just a lost signal. I don't think anything actually happened."
"Huh. Okay," Your brows furrow. If nothing happened then why does it feel as if he's avoiding you? You must just be overthinking it. "Thanks."
"You alright?" She adds.
"Uh, yeah-" The lift pings and you hear the doors slide open.
"Ah, brother!" Thor exclaims. "Your lady was just asking after you,"
You turn to see Loki in the lift, an unreadable look on his face.
"There you are! Where have you been?" You ask, your face breaking out in a smile.
"Oh, me? I was just on the balcony enjoying some fresh air." He laughs nervously.
"You were?" Nat asks, shooting you a look. "I was up there a few minutes ago,"
"Oh you were? We must have missed each other." Again, he laughs.
You try to shake away the hurt and confused feeling that has seeped into your soul. "Well, no matter. I have the day off so we could spend it together if you like?" You ask him.
Loki sucks in a breath. "I really would love to, darling, but I have to go fill in my mission report. Maybe later?"
You feel your shoulders sag, but you don't let your expression show your disappointment.
"Talking of which, how did the mission go? You usually give me a very detailed analysis." You say, waltzing into the lift alongside him.
"JARVIS, take us to the living quarters," Loki says to the ceiling and watches as the lift doors close once more. "It went okay, average really." You nod as the doors slide away to reveal the corridor to your rooms. "I shall see you later then, my love,"
Loki takes your hand in his and brings it to his lips gently, then turns and exits the lift.
"Uh, not so fast, Romeo," You call after him, fed up of his anticks. He's clearly avoiding you - and something is clearly up.
You stride over to him; he takes a few steps back until he hits the wall.
"What is up with you?" You ask, jabbing a finger at his chest. He winces.
Your eyebrows twitch with confusion. Why did he wince?
"Nothing is up, my love." He elects not to say more, you guess because he's lying. Again.
Deciding to take matters into your own hands, you place your hand experimentally on his chest. He attempts to hide it, but he definitely flinches.
"Look, I must get on with my work. I promise I shall treat you to dinner tomorrow when it's all done," He grins and slips from your grasp, sauntering into his room.
"Nope," You say defiantly, following him. "You're going to explain to me why you're avoiding me. And I'm not leaving until you do."
"Avoiding you?" The door clicks shut behind you. "Y/n, darling. Don't be so silly."
"Are you calling me crazy now-" You cut off, catching a glimmer of crimson in the sink through the open bathroom door.
"Of course I'm not call-" Loki also stops, noticing what you're making a run for.
"What is this?!" You ask, holding up the bloody rag you found in the sink.
Loki swallows, biting nervously at his lower lip.
"I assure you, it's nothing."
"Don't play this game with me, Loki. What's going on?"
He sighs dramatically. "I merely gained a scratch while on the mission,"
"A scratch? Show me then,"
"I really don't think that's nec-"
"Show me," You interrupt, your tone harsh.
Loki gives in, wincing as he pulls off his shirt. Beneath lies a myriad of scuffs and scratches, some deep enough to still be oozing blood, others just red and angry. You move forwards, fingertips ghosting over the worst gashes as your face betrays your emotions.
Looking up into his eyes, you notice the spark of guilt dancing around - yet you ignore it.
"Why didn't you tell me!? Gods, Loki, this could get infected... look how much dirt there is!" Huffing, you point to the bed. "Lie down."
"I'm sorry, Y/n. I just didn't want you to worry. You worry enough as it is." You ignore his comment, filling up a bowl with warm water and finding a fresh cloth. You bring it into the bedroom and place it on the bed next to him, dipping in the cloth and wringing it out.
"This might hurt," You murmur, gently dabbing at the wounds. Loki's muscles flex, his jaw setting with pain as you clear up the grit and blood.
"The comms cut because of this," Loki starts, speaking as if he owes you the explanation. "There were too many on me and they knocked me to the floor. I skidded and somehow broke the device. I had to fix it with my magic, but it took a while because I had to rid myself of those imbeciles,"
You don't respond straight away, continuing to clean him up.
"And how did no one notice during the subsequent medical exam? Or did you somehow manage to dodge it?"
He chuckles softly. "You know me too well. It was actually very easy to dodge it without you around. Speaking of, how did Clint's surgery go?"
You yawn, tiredness from the day creeping behind your eyes and into your mind.
"It went fine. He's in recovery now and will be on bed rest for the next day or so,"
The cuts are all clean now; you place the rag in the now bloody water and grab a medical kit to place strips over the worst gashes.
"You really are amazing," Loki murmurs, more to himself than you.
You can't help smiling. "And you would be amazing if you didn't hide your injuries from me,"
"I'm sorry my love," He replies.
Now finished with your job, you lean over and press a gentle kiss against his lips.
"You're forgiven," You get up and begin putting everything away, flashing a smirk in his direction. "Although I do still expect that dinner tomorrow night,"
"I wouldn't dare miss it." He grins.

On the Edge- Ch 1- Pent Up
Word count: 2300
Summary: You're having trouble bringing yourself to orgasm, and and being around Loki isn't helping...
Tumblr media
Day 7
You huffed in annoyance, the sheen of sweat dripping down your forehead onto the pillow. You had been trying to orgasm for over an hour now, but it was elusive. You've never had problems with this before, and especially not recently.
For the last couple of months, all it took was 15 minutes thinking about Loki while you pleasured yourself and you were tumbling into ecstasy. Tonight you had thought about a joke he had made at Tony’s expense. The way he said it with a wry smile and a wink he shot you in front of everyone made your cheeks burn. He always lit you on fire, either when you were around him or in the privacy of your own bed. But tonight, for some reason, you just couldn't come.
Your mind continued to dwell on Loki as you gave up on your missing orgasm and walked to your bathroom, running the shower, and thinking about your unsated lust. He had been with the Avengers over a year longer than you, but he still didn’t quite fit in. His sharp wit with his backhanded compliments to the others made you blush. His devious eyes would flash to yours, and sometimes you felt like he was showing off just for you. Recently, you found that you couldn’t contain yourself around him and began to flirt back.
But then you reminded yourself that Loki flirted with everyone. You'd even seen him jokingly make a pass at Steve, much to Steve’s horror. Steve immediately turned beet red and left the room, with Loki left cackling behind him while you tried to contain your own laughter in front of the others.
Your mind drifts more as you wash yourself absentmindedly. Not just to his mischievous nature, but to his body…that tall, strong build with a swagger that was unmatched by any human you knew and made you weak in the knees. Those intense blue eyes that always seem to be hiding his true thoughts. That sharp jawline that made you want to walk up to him and bite it while you twisted your fingers in his hair…
Okay, that's enough. No more thinking about Loki tonight.
You finish your shower and climb back into bed, with fresh soft pajamas cooling your skin.
Maybe I'm just tired. I just got home from a mission, and my body just isn't ready.
Your mind wanders to the last time you masturbated. When did you come last? A week ago.
It’ll be fine, I’m just tired, you assure yourself.
You roll over and turn on your tv in your bedroom as you drift off to sleep.
~~~~~~
You slowly followed Nat into the conference room for the post mission meeting, the members of your team grumbling at the audacity of Steve’s 6 am assembly.
Your eyes casually glanced around the room and landed on Loki. He looked as bored as he always does in these meetings. He thinks they are a waste of time, and makes no attempt to hide his disdain.
What was it he said that one time?
“The trials of battle are meant to be discussed over a feast and surrounded by loose companions, not in a hideous board room with poor quality breakfast foods!,” Loki spat at Steve at one particularly boring recap meeting as he dramatically left the room.
You grin to yourself as you doodle in your notes, trying not to look up at the other attendees sitting down- Nat, Clint, and Loki.
It was extra hard to avoid looking at Loki this morning, he had his hair in a loose bun, with little wisps of black tendrils framing his face. He dressed in his casual Earth clothes, which still managed to make you feel underdressed around him. His clothes were always the best that money can buy, and perfectly tailored to his form. Even though he's supposed to “blend in” on Earth, he still looked every bit the rich Prince from another world that he is.
You zoned out as you watched Steve talk in the front of the room, not thinking about anything in particular.
“...we obtained the data we needed, so kudos to everyone on the team,” Steve congratulated his exhausted audience with a professional smile.
“But it’s important that even though we came out unscathed, our mission wasn’t without its flaws. I’m of course speaking about the incident at the bar,” Steve continued in a casual, but firm tone.
All eyes look to Loki, who's staring at the ceiling. Sensing the room’s focus on him, he lowers his jaw down and his blue eyes scan the faces of those around the table with a sly grin.
“Just say what’s on your mind, Captain”, Loki feigns annoyance, though you could tell he was enjoying the attention.
“We almost didn’t get the information we needed because you were obviously distracted. Do I need to read all of my notes?,” Steve shot back, trying to maintain his casual demeanor.
“Did we get the information or not?” Loki nonchalantly replied to Steve, looking around the table to discern what his teammates thought.
“If it weren’t for Nat and Clint’s quick thinking, you could’ve compromised everything!”, Steve raised his voice, gesturing with the file in his hand.
“It was just a bit of fun,” Loki smiled to himself, raising his hands behind his head as he leaned back in his chair.
“Loki, you started hitting on some random woman in the bar! If Nat and I hadn’t intervened, we could’ve gotten the attention of the Hydra agents in there! Hell, she could’ve been one!”, Clint glared at Loki from across the table. He never hid his dislike for the God, but it didn’t bother Loki.
“Well I think your missions- and your team- are incredibly dull. You need to liven things up,” Loki mocked, sitting straighter in his chair now, his devious grin looking for someone to challenge him.
You didn’t speak up. It had been hard enough watching Loki woo a gorgeous woman at the bar, his hands trailing her back while she giggled and played with her cocktail straw. He had laid it on thick, you vividly remembered the way he leaned in close to her while whispering in her ear…
Your attention snapped back to the meeting and watching your teammates argue. When these guys fought, it was best to just stay out of it.
“Loki, you nearly started a bar fight when her boyfriend came back!”, Nat was now raising her voice, glaring at him with Clint.
“You asked the God of Chaos to join your team- what did you expect?! It’s in my nature!,” he smiled and his attention turned to you.
“And what do you think?”, Loki shifted, leaning forward to look at you with his hands clasped on the desk. You felt heat on your cheeks as he inquisitively looked at you. It felt like his beautiful eyes pierced into your soul, his complete focus on you feeling like too much and not enough at the same time. You looked up at Steve, hoping to stay neutral even though you weren’t.
“Well, I think it was a dick move by Loki. But he's right, what do you guys expect? And we got the facility location and completed the reconnaissance successfully. So what does it matter that he almost started shit? He probably would have fixed it with his magic anyways…”, you trailed off, looking between Steve and Loki.
A smug smile spreads across Loki’s face as he raised his hands expressively.
“See?? I was merely playing and at no time was the mission in threat of failing!,” he proudly declared as if your comment cleared the matter up.
“Loki. I need you to reign it in. I know you’re bored, and this is nothing like your Asgard missions, but you’re here with us now. You need to tone it down- lives could’ve been endangered,” Steve warned, not budging.
Loki stood up, showing he was once again done with another mission recap meeting (or with Steve telling him what to do).
“Ah yes, but of course, Captain. I will make sure to take your commands into consideration in the future. Thank you for the support, Darling,” he shot you a devilish smile and a wink before stepping out of the room. Your body flushed with heat as you tried not to look at your teammates.
He had you good.
Day 10
You screamed out in frustration at another failed attempt, slamming your fists on the bed next to you. You panted heavily, concern seeping into your mind.
What the hell is wrong with me? Is it mental? Is it physical?
You sat up and looked around at the toys scattered across the bed. Clit stimulators, vibrators, your favorite dildo- you had tried it all, and nothing. You took a deep breath and reassured yourself.
No, it’s never been a problem before. I just need to wait it out some more.
You opened up the calendar on your phone, thinking back to the last time you came. You had been thinking about Loki railing you, of course. You marked the last day you had an orgasm and sighed. Hopefully this is over soon.
You looked out the window to see the daylight shining in, and decided the best way to move past your problem is to pretend it wasn’t a problem. And since you had no Avengers things going on, you could actually relax and take in some sights of the city and explore as you wanted.
You threw on a t- shirt and jeans and ventured out into the bustling city. As soon as your feet hit the pavement, you felt better. You decided to treat yourself with your favorite coffee shop, getting a flavored coffee and a couple chocolate croissants.
The spring air swirled around you as you entered Central Park with your snack, the faint smell of flowers blooming improving your mood already. This is just what you needed- some nature to ground you. You wouldn’t be surprised if this would be over after today.
You found the perfect bench across from Belvedere castle and sat down, taking in a deep breath and sighing as you appreciated your view. Everything else was going great, you really needed this moment to think about all that you do have, not what you don’t.
“Mind if I join you?”
Shit. You know that voice.
You looked up from your pastry to see Loki taking a seat next to you. Wearing a dark green fitted sweater with his tight black dress slacks, he looked as polished as ever. As he sat, his legs sprawled out a bit, to where your knees were almost touching. You told yourself to remain calm and not think about how sexy he looks.
“Not at all,” you shrugged, trying to remain as casual as possible.
“It’s quite lovely in this spot, I must say,” Loki stretched his arms along the back of the bench, and you felt your heart flutter at his closeness.
“Yea it’s not all bad here on “Midgard”,” you joked, making him smirk. It made your stomach flip.
The two of you sat in silence, and if you had been in a relationship, this would be incredibly romantic. The cherry blossoms were blooming and there were flower petals in the air- it was just perfect. You tried to think of something to talk to him about that wasn’t work- you were rarely alone with him outside of the tower or on a mission. Loki shifted and his knee touched yours, and you stifled a moan and felt your body go tense.
 “Does the castle remind you of home?,” you asked with a friendly tone, trying to keep things light and prevent your mind from obsessing about the fact that the two of you were casually touching one another. You’re not going to let him get to you.
“A bit. If it were nicer, perhaps,” he grinned down at you and you took another bite, while acting engrossed in a family that was strolling by.
“What’s that you’re eating?,” he asked, his tone still relaxed, as if it was normal for him to sit so close to you, alone, in a romantic setting. Your conversation was friendly and innocent enough, but you could feel the heat rising in you, and you fought to ignore it as you chewed.
“A chocolate croissant from Lulu’s. They get the lamination perfect, they’re so buttery and they use the best chocolate- would you like a bite?,” you excitedly offered him.
“I’ve been around for more than a thousand years, I have eaten foods and drank spirits so divine that you couldn’t imagine. I doubt it could compare,” Loki looked down at you play mockingly, with a sparkle of mischief in his eye.
You rolled your eyes at him, “Alright, fine, your loss.” You took another bite, thankful you had another croissant to stress eat when you got back to the tower.
You could feel Loki’s eyes still on you, when he reached his hand out and cupped your chin to look up at him. Loki slowly brought his thumb up to your cheek, gently wiping a stray crumb at the corner of your mouth. His eyes studied you now, intensely.
“…though there are some things on Earth that still surprise me,” Loki smiled affectionately at you.
You swallowed your bite and looked into his eyes, dazzling a blue as bright as the sky, sucking you into his world. You wanted to stare into those eyes for eternity. You felt your face get hot and your core ached, reminding you of what you needed so desperately. You resisted the urge to clench your thighs, afraid he would notice.
“Alright, let me have a bite,” he unceremoniously demanded as if you weren’t just having a moment.
You moved your hand towards his mouth and he took a bite from the croissant, a thoughtful look on his face as he savored it. You watched him slowly chew and you tried not to be in awe of the God, and the fact that he wanted you to share something with him.
“Not bad, ” he raised his eyebrows and smiled at you, setting his large hand gently on your knee.
You will never recover from this.
I need you tonight
Avenger! Loki x Female reader
18+ | contains alcohol, swearing, smut, a lot of orgasms 😉
Tumblr media
“I’ve got to give it to you Stark, you sure know how to throw a party.” You congratulated, eyes running over the decadent hall littered with New York’s most elite. Usually whenever Tony was hosting a party, he’d hire a mansion; however, considering this party had fewer guests and renovations in the tower had just been completed, he opted for a home party. As soon as you got the invite, you jumped at the chance of seeing the team again, most importantly the dark haired prince. Considering you were a SHIELD agent, you rarely interacted with the team as a whole however you did know them all well individually, especially Tony hence why you were the only person from your department in attendance.
“You know me, I love parties.” He smiled in agreement, looking around the room too.
“Ooo, looking good.” Natasha chimed in, joining the conversation.
“Thanks Nat” you grinned “not so bad yourself.” You winked before a few others wandered towards the three of you.
“Woah” Bucky began, pausing as he took you in “you’ve—changed.” He finished, eyeing you suspiciously.
“Thanks?” You snorted in reply.
“In a good way” he rushed out “a really really good way.”
“Evening y/n.” Steve smiled.
“Hey Cap.” You saluted, hand falling when your gaze met someone else’s.
“Well, aren’t you just divine.” Loki smiled coyly, dipping his head slightly before lifting your hand and placing a kiss on the back of it.
“Hello Loki.” You answered, trying to hide the deep desire you felt for him at this moment. Your eyes mapped one another as the sounds of the people around you faded out until the only thing you heard was your increasing heartbeat. You felt a slight pang of smugness when his eyes lingered on your chest for a moment, this dress was perfect. You had decided on a little black dress, nothing too extravagant just a cocktail strap, cowl neck, small leg slit dress which by looking at Loki’s expensive black suit was an ideal fit. You were both matching as if you had planned this prior. When the previously drowned out sounds came into focus again, you realised how long you had been staring at Loki and wondered if you looked as desperate as you felt. You waited for a few more moments, wondering if he was going to make a move so when he didn’t, you acted. “Well, come on soldiers, let’s dance.” You announced, linking arms with Steve and Bucky, catching a glimpse of Loki from the corner of your eye with his jaw clenched.
You, Bucky and Steve ventured over to the bar before you began dancing. It was fun, the three of you together like that. Close. It was nice. The guys who had spent half the night ogling you looked away instantly when they saw you with the super soldiers. They were protective in nature without even knowing it. When the music slowed slightly, Steve got more drinks whilst you danced with Bucky. His hands found your waist as you swayed feeling someone staring daggers at you both. When you had eventually turned 180 degrees, you realised it was Loki who was watching you both with an unreadable expression. Your lips curled up into a small smirk.
“You’re totally screwing her right.” Natasha spoke making Loki visibly flinch, he was too engrossed in you to take in the rest of his surroundings.
“Screwing” Loki scoffed, barely taking his eyes off of you “I would have preferred the term copulating or even fucking and for your information we are not doing any of those things.” He assured.
“Wow, really?” Natasha almost gasped.
“Well” Loki began, a smile playing on his lips in reminiscence “there was this one time we—well—let’s just say there was a lot of kissing as well as some heavy petting but nothing else.”
“So you’re not screwing her but want to screw her?” Natasha figured.
“Why are you being so crude all of a sudden?” Loki questioned defensively.
“Noted.” Natasha smirked before walking away, Loki calling after her before falling silent as she made her way towards you.
“Scoot boys.” Natasha instructed once she made it to you.
“Hey sexy.” You grinned at her as she replaced your dance.
“Loki was checking you out.” She spoke in your ear as you both moved closer together. There were few people you confided in, especially when it related to matters of the heart but Natasha always worked things out before you told her so you always did, tell her, there was no point keeping secrets.
“Wait, what, really?” You replied, eyes widening.
“Are you blind girl? He definitely wants to fuck you.” She cheered.
“Nat! Don’t be so crude” you whisper shouted, your back to him “does he?”
“Yes.” She giggled.
“What do I do, just go up to him and say hey, wanna share my bed tonight?” You mocked “It’s not that funny.” You added, noticing Natasha’s giggle progressing onto a chuckle as she looked just past you.
“It’d be my pleasure.” Loki practically purred from behind you as you froze, eyes rounding. You were rooted in your place, embarrassed over the fact that he had heard you that you hadn’t even realised Loki had replaced Natasha in front of you.
“You weren't supposed to hear that.” You laughed nervously, completely aghast.
“Wasn’t I?” He answered with a smirk causing one to eventually replace your aghast expression as you eyed each other again. “My lips have missed yours” he simpered “my hands ache to to touch your body” he continued, placing his hands on your hips sending shivers down your spine “my body yearns for your own” he whispered, lowering his head to speak into your ear “I want you whimpering and writhing beneath me so you never have to imagine how it feels to be fucked by a god ever again.” He finished, kissing that perfect spot just underneath your ear leaving you practically melting against him, a wetness pooling between your legs.
“Let’s go.” You murmured, needing relief.
“Not yet Angel, I want you desperate for me” he snickered, quickly sparing a glance around before trailing his hand up your thigh until it was underneath your dress “wet for me.” He insisted, cupping your pussy for a moment, a moment of pure ecstasy. You whined when his hand left you, wondering whether you should tell Loki that if he just slipped his fingers past your panties he’d be able to tell you were exceedingly ready for him but there was just something daunting about telling an Asgardian prince to touch you there again in front of a room full of people. Instead, you decided to press your body against his as you danced.
You spent a while dancing together, barely breaking apart. Whenever you were facing each other, your gazes were intense, a plethora of unspoken dirty thoughts being exchanged telepathically. When you’d spin around, you’d already miss him despite feeling his hands running up your sides. Occasionally a few guests broke you apart, wanting to speak with Loki who confidently greeted them as if he wasn’t sporting a semi after being pressed to you all night. Once they left, you took your rightful position against him; obviously he wanted you just as much as you wanted him.
“I can’t take it anymore Loki, you’re killing me.” You mithered. “Come on, I know you want me just as bad.” You smiled mischievously, spinning around, grinding your ass against his now obvious boner. His hands rested against your hips, grip tightening as a groan escaped him. “Whisk me away to your room Loki.” You finished knowing your fate was sealed.
Time moved seemingly quicker as you and Loki made your escape with rushed goodbyes. Once you reached the elevator, your hands barely left one another as you kissed passionately, your back against one of the metallic walls. Loki lifted you as you wrapped your legs around his waist, breaking the kiss when the elevator doors opened. Your breaths were labored as Loki carried you to his room.
“Go on then sweetie, open it.” He prompted when you reached the door. You pushed it open, Loki entering before placing you down, lips finding yours again. The door slammed closed as you hit it with your back, Loki pinning you against it. His tongue pushed past yours, claiming your mouth as his hand cupped your breast. When you needed to break for air, Loki’s lips traveled across your neck, nipping and sucking before he kissed his way down the valley of your breasts. He unclothed one, bringing the hardened nipple to his mouth before circling it with his tongue leaving your back arching off of the door. You barely had time to steady yourself before Loki was moving lower, kneeling on the ground. His hands were underneath your dress, tugging your panties down before he tapped the back of your left leg, prompting you to step out of them. You did, balancing with a hand on Loki’s shoulder. Once they were discarded, Loki littered kisses over your thighs, lifting one of your legs over his shoulder revealing your slick folds to him. He looked up at you, eyes dreamily looking into yours in a thankful expression as if you were the god with a loyal votery kneeling before you. Loki, this new found disciple waited for your small nod before his head disappeared underneath your dress as he flattened his tongue against your cunt. You moaned as he licked a firm stripe from your entrance to your clit, leaving no time before he did it again. His tongue explored your centre promptly leaving no place untouched. You heard him groaning against you, felt him groaning against you as his lips wrapped around your clit. He sucked, slowly, gently as you tried to keep yourself standing. He moved his head side to side, flicking your clit with his tongue as your panting turned to moans.
“Loki I’m so closee, fuck, don’t stopp.” You urged, grinding your hips against his face. He didn’t stop, sucking your cunt ardently until you came, coating his face in your arousal as he slowed his pace to light licks, prolonging your orgasm until you were too overstimulated for him to continue. You pushed his shoulder, Loki understanding that you wanted him to stop. He moved from underneath your dress, licking his lips before standing up again, kissing you. His firm cock, stiff against his trousers, prodded you as you deepened the kiss, tasting yourself on him before pulling apart. “I need you to fuck me.” You spoke, less of a request, more of an order. Loki, loyal devotee, reached behind you, unzipping your dress. You took this as an opportunity to rid him of his clothes too, starting with his trousers.
You made your way onto his bed once you were both bare. You felt his cock sliding through your slick folds, your walls eager to accommodate him. His tip was nudging at your entrance, begging to fill you but Loki was too preoccupied with kissing you. He loved kissing you. Deciding to take initiative, you reached between you, wrapping your hand around his length before guiding him inside, both of you moaning as he entered.
“Fuckk.” He hissed as he bottomed out. It took mere moments for you to get used to his size before you were begging him to move. Slowly at first, he moved, pulling out completely before slipping inside again. The sound of him fucking you was salacious, wet. It reverberated around the room, the sound of your combined pleasure. Eventually you rolled over, positioning yourself on top of Loki as he guided your movements with his hands on your hips. You barely broke eye contact, Loki occasionally glancing down as he watched himself disappear inside of you. “Do that thing you like, when you rut against me.” He gritted out. You remembered the time you and Loki were making out, you were both fully clothed as you straddled him, rutting against his stiffening cock. Your movements changed from a bounce to a grind as your eyes closed tightly in rapture, your clit moving against his pelvis. “You’re so wet baby” Loki cooed, using his thumb to draw circles over your clit “perfect pussy, you feel perfect” he praised, tapping it “I want to kiss her” he spoke, holding his thumb against the bundle of nerves as you moaned, looking down at him “want me to kiss her, hmm? Want me to suck your pussy again?”
“Fuckk, Loki I’m gonna cum.” You warned between moans as his words penetrated your ears.
“It’s okay baby, you can cum, cum for me, cum for your god.” He prompted, his words sending you reeling as your walls clamped down around him, body stiffening as you came.
“Oh god.” You mewled.
“Not a god, your god.” He nodded, another wave of pleasure consuming you as he held you down against him before fucking up into you.
“Ughhh my god my—g—oh fuckkk.” You cried, another orgasm hitting you as Loki continued pounding you, your overstimulated walls thrumming around him. The room was engulfed by your shrill moans as Loki sought his own climax. “Ohhh fuckkk Lokii.”
“Give me another one, I know you can Angel, cum for me again.”
There were tears welling in your eyes as Loki rubbed fast circles over your clit.
“Come on, I can feel it, you’re close.” He grinned.
“Lokii—I—fuckk.” You screamed.
“That’s it, just like that, let go my goddess.” He encouraged, reaching his peak too as you both came. Exhausted, you collapsed against him as you rode out your highs, Loki’s arms wrapping around your back before he started stroking it. You both fell asleep like that, completely naked, Loki softening inside of you.
RoR x Replacement Fighter for the gods side.
The gods decided to call in other species to fight for them since things weren't looking too good. The reader can be from another immortal species. The reader fights in place of the gods, who either chickened out or betrayed them. They're incredibly tall (around 197cm) and have dragon/serpent-like tattoos on their neck, hands, and arms. And have dark, wavy hair. They're always dressed in all black monochrome shirts, pants, hoodies, suits, etc. Reader fought with two katanas at first, but it broke, so they resorted to fighting in hand-to-hand combat instead.
The gods and goddesses were shocked yet in awe of how incredibly strong and swift the reader is. After the battle was over, the gods personally went up to them to congratulate them with a gift and a desire to get to know the reader better. Reader was oblivious either eating a bunch of desserts or was preoccupied with their phone. The meeting can happen in the Valhalla gardens, hot springs, at a festival, or at a ball. Some of the human fighters were curious about the reader too, so they tried to catch a glimpse of them.
The gods : Odin, Poseidon, Thor, Loki, Hades & Rudra
The humans: Lubu, Sasaki & Raiden
-You exhaled slowly, deeply, almost like you were sighing as you walked down the hallway, feeling annoyed that you were being forced to do this.
-You hadn’t been selected as a fighter for Ragnarok in these fights to unconsciousness (not death), you weren’t even a backup fighter! But here you were, about to fight in the next round after the gods, who had gotten scared after seeing so many gods lost at the hands of humans, backed out.
-However, they didn’t want to lose face, the gods couldn’t be scared of humans! But they didn’t want to risk their own reputations trying to prove this.
-That’s where you came in, you were only a minor god, despite your strength and power, so it wouldn’t really matter if you lost, something you knew and was the main source of your annoyance.
-But you did admit to yourself that you were hoping for a good fight, hoping for a good challenge from your human competitor. It was going to be interesting to see who would be standing as the victor.
-As you walked out to the cheers of the gods, the roar of the stadium making your ears hurt, many were stunned by how bored you looked! You look intimidating, being extremely tall with luscious dark hair, covered in dragon tattoos across your chest, arms, and neck, two katanas strapped to your hip, and adorned in black clothing.
-Many didn’t personally know you, as you chose to keep to yourself most of the time, you looked so interesting and so powerful! The gods were surely going to win this round!!
-Your opponent didn’t underestimate you, and your returned it, willing to give him everything you had, meeting his power with you own.
-The crowd loved it! Seeing the two of you clashing together, sparks flying off your swords as you met his own bladed weapon, and you were quick to lose your bored look, as you were having fun- you had never had such a challenge like this before!
-Your opponent felt the same, you weren’t like other gods, you weren’t cocky or arrogant, you were fighting him as a warrior, not as a god against a human, and he wanted nothing more.
-When your swords snapped in two, him getting a lucky shot on you, the gods were terrified, thinking you were going to lose, but when your opponent’s weapon snapped in two after he got ready to swing again, he stunned everyone by throwing it to the side, lifting his fists.
-You smirked, which quickly grew into a large, feral like grin, and you did the same, throwing your katanas down and you lifted your hands, balling them into fists before sliding one leg back.
-The second half of the fight moved so many people to tears, nobody was able to look away as you both traded blows, neither of you refusing to fall to the other. However, instead of being mad or frustrated, you were both smiling like you were having the most fun you had ever had.
-You were bleeding all over, as was your opponent when you punched him once, then twice across the face, and he fell to his knees. You wound back to punch him again, before you stopped just short, a shockwave appearing on the ground around him, dust flying up.
-Everyone stared in shock, seeing that you pulled that last punch as you stood up straight, and Heimdall ran forward, seeing that your opponent had passed out, leaving you the winner and the crowd, both humans and gods, went wild, as they had never seen such a glorious fight, chanting your name.
-Found you about twenty minutes later, in the infirmary, shoving meat bun after meat bun into your mouth, as you were starving. The nurses brought the food to you, after patching you up, and you were content, being left alone with your food. Your opponent was on the bed next to you, patched up and a plate of meat buns, one you were willing to share, was there waiting for him. (Love) entered, calling out your name and instantly he grinned, seeing your cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk’s, a bored look in your eyes again, “That was an amazing battle Y/N!” You didn’t answer, focusing on your food instead, as he approached, trying again to get your attention away from your food, “Why did you never say you were so strong?” you swallowed and finally acknowledged him, “You never asked.” His eyelid twitched only slightly, you were rather rude, but you were just in a hell of a fight, so he was willing to give you a pass. He wanted to stay with you, he wanted to know more about you, curious as to the source of your strength. He had never met anyone like you before and wanted to know more as he watched you easily pack away your meat buns.
            -Hades, Odin, Poseidon, and Loki
-Once you were healed, you went straight to Apollo’s spa, to soak in the hot springs, you hurt all over, but it felt so good because you had gotten such a good fight! You were sitting on a low rock, soaking to just above your shoulders, when a voice called out, “There you are! I’ve been looking for you Y/N!” you turned your head, seeing (Love) there, who didn’t look bothered that you were naked in the hot spring, “I’ve come to test your strength for myself! Will you battle with me?!” you looked a bit bored by his request, as you hurt too much to care at the moment, “Pass- I need to heal.” (Love) looked a little bit dejected at your refusal, but you never told him no outright as he started to ask you questions about your fighting style, wanting to know everything he could so he could have a fight like what you had just gotten done with. When you fell silent after a while, he became annoyed, approaching, only to find that you had overheated in the bath and were sliding down, trying to drown yourself. He scrambled, dragging your giant naked ass out of the water, calling you an idiot while you were out of it. How the hell was he attracted to an idiot like you?!
-Rudra, Thor, Lu Bu, Kojiro, and Raiden
Chapter Summary: Longing to return to your husband and friends, you take the next steps for revenge, both big and small. Your powers perform a miracle for the town to get you into their good graces. Then, an unexpected invitation arrives.
Word Count: 4K (for me, that's short. Don't wanna write super long chapter bc I fear people hate it)
Chapter Warnings: No smut, but mentions of sex and masturbation with references to and deconstructing the canon events The Essex Serpent the book, and the show, including not portraying Cora or Will or their affair sympathetically so if you don't like that don't read this, discussions of cheating and a brief mention of the fear of sexual violence. Loki gets jealous for a hot second. Some angst, but some humor. Supporting Women's Wrongs. Reader causing problems on purpose. Portrayals of religion. My saltiness slips out into roasts.
The first letter had its destination. You got out a piece of paper, writing down the address of the seminary that appointed him the vicarage of Aldwinter. Then you began writing.
“Dear sirs,
I have some unfortunate news. I suspect the Reverend William Ransome is not of moral character fitting his position here. He is engaged to marry…”
You hesitated. Thinking carefully, if you signed it with your name, Will would know it was you. No, you couldn’t risk that. You continued writing.
“... a Miss Y/L/N.  However, an intact love letter from a woman named Mrs.Seaborne was discovered in his possession. It is dated during his still current engagement to Ms. Y/L/N. It is enclosed here. There must be an inspection in his vicarage to see if he encouraged Mrs. Seaborne and if there were other incidents. If found that he behaved in a manner not befitting godly character, it is doubtful he can have the right to sacred orders and to function as a public figure of the church at least in Aldwinter.”
Sincerely,
An anonymous member of the congregation.”
Stuffing both this paper and the first letter in an envelope, you then sealed with wax. Then wrote down the address of the council.
You hurried to the post office, paid postage, and quickly mailed it out before anyone could see. Too many talking mouths.
You heard Loki congratulate you.
‘I couldn’t have done better, my dear. You’ve learned from the best. You’re a wife to the god of mischief indeed.’
Once you got home, though you skimmed over the book of Matthew beside the fire, you weren’t focused on the scripture. You would have to figure out where to send the other two letters. One would have to get to someone in town, anyone who attended church would do. You’d figure out the how later.
But the third one would require research… Mrs. Seaborne’s ambition in life was to become recognized as a woman of science.
Too bad sleeping with another’s fiancee typically results in a woman’s utter ruin.
And now you had the evidence in hand. You had to figure out where to send it to. Which department of science? Who received her research? What if she wasn’t sending it at all, what then? Would she gather up her fossils as Stella loved to gather up seashells?
Your thoughts then returned to Stella… your friend who shared a fate with you.
Had you not been there…it would have been her. She would have married Will and fell in love with him. Been the dutiful, obedient wife who carried the Word in her mouth and his children in her womb. Stella, stricken with consumption, about to die…and for William to repay her devotion and life with him with inconstancy. Doomed to do nothing about her husband’s obsessive lust for another woman and in fact, smile at it.
His happiness was what mattered. His happiness. Not hers.
And she would have borne it without even speaking a complaint. She’d be their matchmaker like a dutiful little wife all while she never let her heart sway to another man, much less bring him to the marriage bed that her upright, moral, virtuous, godly husband had the freedom to. The marriage bed Will would have set on fire and destroyed into bits all while she smiled and laid in it and let him burn her into ashes.
She’d want them to be together. Content and not the least bit unhappy that she never mattered to Will in the first place. She’d even attempt suicide- end her own life- so they could be together!
The perfect wife to a man who couldn’t be decent.
…what would she get out of it?
At the end of the day, who was kissing their lover, and who was the one about to drown?
And even for her selfless and complete and utter devotion to Will…it wouldn’t be the same from him. He wouldn’t be willing to sacrifice or control himself for Stella…not one bit. He was a man who did not deserve her. Did not deserve the great, selfless love she had for everyone in her life…even you.
You were the same not long ago. The self-sacrificial, dutiful, passive wife who wanted nothing but his happiness. That was why you agreed to that bargain on that fateful day.
You had to avenge Stella. Even if now it wouldn’t happen, you had to. For you and she were one half of one whole fate. And in this one, the abandoned woman would not passively sit until she killed herself for such selfish monsters.
 If Stella were the one destined to not fight….you would.  For her sake as well as yours.
You paused, remembering how frightened she was in Grendel’s cave the last you saw her.
‘How is Stella?”’ you asked Loki. You knew you asked him a hundred times before. And he would tell you.
‘She was having nightmares keeping her awake. Flinching, bursting into tears and fits of great fear of anything involving Grendel…but she is getting better.’
“When will she be home? Her family keeps asking after her…they mourn her as if she died. I cannot stay long with them without weeping. It destroys me every time”
“She was in her house when Grendel took her…she doesn’t feel safe there now.  So she wants to stay here...”
“Without it being safe for Thomas to deliver letters…They think she’s your whore for good now.”
“If I forced Stella to be my whore, I think my wife would have something to say about it. Not to mention Jonathan.”
“Oh, he’d say something. His fists can make a whole sentence itself.”
His warm laughter made you smile over the large, thick book in your lap.
“Oh, Loki, bless him-I knew from when he gave her those flowers. But I don’t think he’ll admit he is besotted with her already,” you added on.
“Jonathan is not a man who will easily admit anything, why else did he become a spy?”
In the night, you couldn’t sleep. Your mind was still racing, refusing to shut off. You went to the window in your room, sitting on a chair to stare out. You looked outside at the country darkness outside. For only the stars and moon above showed any light on the little town.
Out of curiosity, your senses reached out. You sensed Will was not asleep at all and not in his house. He was in the field alone of all places! And standing before a bonfire. Then you could sense he was speaking…
“Oh Lord, I renounce my sins…”
Atoning and cleansing his sins? Looks like he was going to need a lot more firewood then.
You stopped your powers. But you went back to here and looked up at the starry sky. You missed them- all of them. Sif’s little glares when something annoyed her. Stella trying on the Asgardian dresses. Robert making quips as he lit a cigarette. Thomas happily chatting over whatever device he was working on Jonathan observing everything stoically, but when someone spoke gently to him, a beautiful smile on his face. Hal’s bright eyes as he taught everyone how to fight with a sword during training. Thor’s loud laughter. Queen Frigga coming in to ask over all of you, for it was her role as an AllMother to be Mother to all.
And Loki- dear, funny, charming, mischievous Loki, your True Love, your husband…you missed him most of all.
You had to be patient. It would only motivate you further. Once this was all done and you figured it out, you would return to see all of them without a minute’s delay.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The hairy dog that kept humping things was approaching your front yard.
His pet was with him.
“Ah, dear Reverend, will you stop by for tea?” your mother hurried off from your gardening together to greet Will.
“Yes, you are welcome,” you repeated, though your voice felt small.
He was in his overcoat and his formal green vest. The spaniel barked at his feet, tail wagging but held close thanks to the leash. You smiled and leaned down to pet him, for had you become married to the Lusty Vicar, the dog would be the most loyal man in your life.
“I only have time to stop and say my hellos- especially for the lady here, please,” Will greeted, his eyes shining at you.
You returned up. You fluttered your eyes down in a picture of docility and chastity.
“It’s nice to see you too,” you greeted sweetly.
He then did something you were surprised he did in your mother’s presence. With his free hand, he found the ends of your skirt and gently tugged you a little closer to him. He smiled up at you.
“Why, how are you, my dear?” he asked.
“Doing alright,” you answered.
“I hear your headaches have been better, are you getting rest?”
“Yes, plenty as I can, Will,” you answered.
“That’s good, my darling,” he replied.
You heard Loki cut in.
“That’s MY word for you!”
“Hush!” you sent back
“I just sent a telegram to Bishop Anderson. He has been promised there will be no disruptions and he will marry us next month,” he announced, his voice soft and almost on the edge of seduction. Completely unaware of the letter you sent to the council and the disaster about to hit him in at least a few weeks.
Loki cut in again- “You do know that every Thursday he goes to the ocean and relieves his seed in it to thoughts of Cora!”
“I’m not surprised- hush!” you silently urged your husband again.
“Oh, that’s wonderful!” you replied, smiling at him.
“Are you going to be at the dance tonight, Y/N?”
The thought of being in there and having to endure potentially being in the same room as Mr. I-Can’t-Think-Straight-Around-Her and Cora and not screaming at both of them made you feel nauseous.
But he didn’t need to know that now.
“Oh, of course, I shall!” you replied.
“Ah, then I hope to dance with my wife then,” he prodded.
“We are not yet married,” you reminded him meekly, folding your hands and looking demurely down.
“Yet you are mine already in my heart. For nothing shall stop me from joining you in Holy Matrimony and for us together to spend a life doing God’s will. I shall escort you there tonight, Y/N,” he promised.
He wasn’t wrong about the first bit, as Grendel told you.
He took your hand and kissed it. You grinned up at him with a loving look on your face.
Yes, Y/N, smile. Be polite. Charming even. And never let him know you want him dead.
Then, urging his dog forward with his leash, he went about his way through the brown and white town.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
That night was the promised dance. You kept your word and went with him.
So many others would gather- that dance hall with candlelight that made the brown walls orange. Some people dressed in dark colors, but young people eager to flirt and laugh. Tables full of punch, cake, and fruit. A piano constantly playing.
And Will in a tuxedo like the other men, ever the picture of handsomeness. You had three dances with him. The number permitted for an engaged couple. As tempting as it was to grab the neck of his bow tie and strangle him with it was there, you fought it back.
No, you looked up at him and smiled. Curtsied at the end of dances as people clapped around you.
Of course, Cora was there in her grey dress. But when she arrived, you put on a smile and curtsied and greeted her like any other person. Not talking to her more than you had to. You kept your eyes down for the rest of the party- sensing her like you were in the ocean and felt the presence of a shark. You knew Will would still stare at her intensely in your own presence. You would pretend like you didn’t know, and keep your eyes down again like a docile lady with no thoughts but love and marriage.
Maybe he had you both in boxes. For surely he thought you didn’t consent to be in Loki’s bed and that was why he pitied you as opposed to hated you. There was also the loophole- you were still considered chaste even though you weren’t. Since you didn’t want to bed Loki but were forced to.
 You were his Virgin. Cora was his Whore.
He wanted to marry you because you fit being the chaste wife who sipped tea and quoted Philippians. And he could do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted with Cora. One for his house and the other for his hand. Cora couldn’t be that wife for the vicarage. And you couldn’t be the one who could spit out some stupid science fact to make his penis erect.
He wanted both. To have his cake and eat it too, like what Robert would say.
But as the party progressed…it occurred to you that you might be a little wrong at least on your part. Will’s touch on you was still proper- an arm to drape yours over. But only slightly more amorous, sometimes a hand to touch your back. Sometimes a brief, chaste kiss. Becoming slightly more amorous.
It then hit you…Did Will…lust after you?  It wasn’t just chaste affection or passion he felt for you-  but did it include the Lusty Vicar’s Lusty Penis?
You stopped for a moment and mused on it. Will left you to talk to some friends, promising he’d be back.
Honestly, It flattered you to be desired. And you had to have the shield up to not hear Loki’s complaints of jealousy right now.
You knew Will wouldn’t urge you to his bed before marriage. At the most extreme, not publicly.
But…what if…what if that passion was still there? With the wedding re-planning, you knew it would happen soon. If you let time slip, you will find yourself a bigamist! You knew the Lusty Vicar would live up to his nickname and want to fuck you right after you said your I do’s!
At the most extreme, if that happened…you could say no. Will had done some disgusting and reprehensible things…but you couldn’t imagine him forcing himself on you.
Perhaps you could tell him “no” on your wedding night. Tell him you were still distressed from being the Trickster God’s whore. Tell him you weren’t ready to consummate your (second) marriage. Will would very likely comply.  Maybe even tell him to sleep on the couch alone. Now- there was a funny picture! You- safe and snug in that blue bed and asleep. And the tall, hairy man curled up on his couch as much as his height would allow him. The cold air deflating the Lusty Vicar’s Lusty Penis like a balloon after a party.
But…how long would that last? He’d respect you but suspect something was up. Then, how could you discreetly get revenge on him after you wedded him?
You had to cool him.
But looking up, you saw with silent horror that he was staring at Cora again. There was a piano playing-a dance theme like you heard in your old dream. A song urging them to dance. Rage burned in the bottom of your stomach.
He needed not only cooling but the equivalent of a swift kick to the groin- and you had an idea of how to do both at once.
Looking over, you noted the tablecloth of the refreshment table was a dark green. Your True Love’s favorite dark green.
Perfect.
You went up to the refreshment table for punch, taking a little cup and going to the glass bowl. A few guests talked nearby- a couple of gentlemen including a young surgeon the town had.  Dark hair and a round face, an apparent friend of the woman who ruined your life, and an expert in new ways of his profession. Chatting about amputation or other polite topics.
You then looked down and pretended to see the deep green cloth.
You dropped the glass in your hand it shattered on the ground. You let out a scream seeing the tablecloth. Conjuring tears and shaking, but careful not to step on the glass shards.
The party stopped, even the stupid piano trinkle music, to look at you.
You put a hand over your mouth and burst into tears. With the anger, the sadness, and the grief you had inside, it wasn’t hard.
“Why…what is the matter?” one woman in a dark dress asked.
“It’s Loki…like Loki’s-green like his-his-” you muttered out.
You then turned to the first man in that little group of men next to the table. Before Will could interfere, you flung yourself  at the surgeon. Wrapped your arms around him in a shaking embrace. You recalled his name- what was it again? Oh, yes!
“Lucas! Oh, Lucas! Help me! The trickster god!” you cried.
You held him tight and sobbed into the white shirt of his suit.
“What, uh, is the matter, Miss?” he asked, unsure of what on earth was going on.
“It’s green! The very green like his bed was! The trickster god is going to get me! He’s going to force me to bed him again! Oh, Lucas- please! Protect me! Say you’ll protect me! Anyone, please!” you wailed.
There were a few whispers of pity from the crowd. Lucas was stiff and uncomfortable of being labeled as your protector.
“There there, Miss Y/L/N. Sure I-we will keep you, uh. safe. it’s alright, you’re safe, no need to make a fuss, shhh,” he patted awkwardly, rocking you back and forth as you clung to him.
You peeked out and saw Will look absolutely white and silently angry seeing you embracing the surgeon.
A taste of his own medicine.
You heard Loki’s voice.
‘Hal’s dying of laughter right now over this. Jonathan is cracking a smile despite himself. Stella is telling them all it is not funny and excusing herself to go to a corner and giggle.’ he said.
Lucas took note of Will and you heard a little panic in the surgeon’s voice.
“I, uh, think you should- should get home and- er, drink some tea and get some rest,” Lucas advised, desperately peeling you off of him before you went to Will. Pure terror on the surgeon's round face noticing the awkward situation he was in.
“I will escort my fiancee back home,” he said coldly, glaring at Lucas.
You were escorted sternly by Will, you pretended not to notice the jealous little huff in his voice when he said goodnight at your door.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The second Sunday was the right Sunday to do the next part of your plan- for it was bright and sunny.
You were already early there to help teach Sunday School as promised. You made sure to talk in a sweet voice as you handed out the little snacks for the children forced into stiff, fancy clothes. The older teacher fussed at them to remain still. You practiced looking at a window when they turned to her. The children sat bored and sleepy hearing about Jonah.
You saw one little light reflection out of the window flicker on the floor. Then it settled to normal before any young eyes could see.
For the longest time, you wondered why you had these gifts of moving light around- the flash from the sun, from windows, and its reflections. It wasn’t helpful against Grendel…but it would be helpful for revenge.
Service began, and people filed over the floors, made of clear tiles of white and black, almost like a chessboard. And what a move you had in store if it was successful.
You looked up at the light shining through that brown church so it no longer looked dreary.
The service began as normal. Blessed be God’s people now and forever amen and all that. A few hymns. Scripture readings. Will gave a sermon about King Saul and David. The men who were a part of Grendel’s army sitting in the congregation smiling. More intrigued to hear about swords and violence than patience and gentleness.
A prayer would be the right time. Everyone ducked their heads down to repeat what was in the Book of Common Prayer.
“Lord in your mercy,” began Will.
“Hear our prayer” the congregation intoned, as did you.
You stared at the sunlight streaming down all of the windows.
“Lord, hear us,” began Will.
“Lord, graciously hear us,” replied the congregation.
Taking in a deep breath, you silently urged the sunlight to move.
“God of love,” began Will.
“Hear our prayer,” responded the congregation.
The lights moved from the windows over the heads of all. First one stream of light, then another, and another. Everyone’s heads were down to pray, they didn’t notice.
The lights glowing on all the windows were directed at you like stage lights. You felt warm beneath it. You squinted beneath it, smiling, your magic keeping it at you. But kept repeating the prayer responses from the service.
“Lord, meet us in the silence,” began Will.
“And hear our prayer,” replied the congregation.
When their heads turned, they saw the sunlight was all pointing in your direction and beaming right at you.
There were gasps. You heard a few books of Common Prayer taking a tumble to the floor from people dropping them in shock. They gaped at you- the frightened and superstitious town. For many things happened that scared them…this was harmless.
The service went to a halt as they all looked at you.
“It’s a sign! From God!” one murmured.
“He blessed her!” whispered another.
“A blessed lady!” another agreed.
They lost interest in Will, whose mouth dropped wide, then broke into a smile. He saw a miracle before him.
The congregation turned to you. One woman went up to you and you offered your hand, she kissed it.
“God has blessed you, my dear- it’s a sign from him!” she gasped.
“He has redeemed her…redeemed her from the Trickster God!” agreed another.
They all loved and looked at you favorably, their eyes soft and their faces turning to smiles. You released the magic and suddenly Will had to re-direct everyone’s focus back to him and the service.
But they went up to you, smiling and in awe and admiration and coming in droves to smile in awe of you once it was over.
Now you had to keep it up for a good reputation in this town was as good as an alibi.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The next day, you received something in the mail- something completely shocking you almost dropped it, but it was shaking in your hand.
“I do cordially invite you to a celebration of my birthday- held on the date below. Please write back if you will be there. We plan for only a few gifts here and there, some nice beef, and plenty of cake and ice cream. We shall prepare enough seats for the dinner.
Mrs. Seaborne.”
She invited you! She invited you! To her birthday celebration! What was she thinking?! Why? Did she want the new miracle woman in her circle? Was she trying to perhaps re-acquaint herself with you after sticking Will’s penis up her-
You caught yourself, catching your breath. When your parents arrived, they hurried and saw the paper. Their eyes went to you.
“I am only…only…”
Calming down your racing heart, an idea hit you. If you were at her house, you would figure out which departments of science she was contacting. You would know who to send the blackmail to.
You brought up a smile.
“I am only Thrilled! I shall write to her at once and accept! How fun!” you replied.
You would figure out where to send the second letter to ruin Cora there.
“Wonderful! Good to know your silly jealousy of her is done,” agreed your father.
“But there will be gifts- you must go and find something for her,” your mother reminded you.
…and a new idea came upon you.  Another act of revenge on her, even worse than sending a few letters. One where none would ever suspect it to be you.
“I shall, mama.”
You knew what you had to do now, you just had to steel yourself and do it.
“Loki, over here,” he called out, and the room hushed. Morgan wiggled deeper into the crook of his elbow, cooing.
The Aesir watched Loki approach with wide eyes. Tony ignored their reactions, as usual, and smiled at the other man.
“Stark,” Loki returned stiffly, eyes locked on Tony's, not acknowledging the baby in his arms. “I thank you for your hospitality. Congratulations are in order.”
“Yeah, sure,” Tony stepped closer and nudged Loki with his shoulder. “It’s good to see you, Lokes. It’s been a minute.”
There was a moment when Loki remained stiff, and then he pushed back into Tony’s shoulder and offered him a smirk. “You can’t have had time to miss me in between missing sleep.”
“Oh, I can and I have,” Tony teased back. “Who am I meant to match wits with while you’re away? Lovely as Morgan is, she hasn’t got speech down just yet, and I can only hold both halves of the conversation for so long before running out of oxygen.”
Loki followed his gaze down to Morgan, eyes going wide at his first glance. She was swaddled in the green and gold blanket Loki had left for Tony to find after news of the birth. It filled him with warmth. Introducing a babe to the world was an important event, and this is what Stark chose to wrap her into. A combination of their colors.
Said mortal caught his eye as he glanced up and smiled. “Would you like to hold her?”
Loki's heart stuttered in his chest. “Truly?”
“It’s safe to say that’s a skill you’ve picked up at some point, yeah?” Tony checked. “I mean, I can show you how if you want.”
“I assure you I have had many occasions to hold an infant,” Loki said. “Did you wish for a Blessing?”
“A… what?”
“A protection for your daughter. It is common for me to bless new Aesir on their naming day. Is that not why you wish for me to hold her?”
Tony blinked. “No. I just thought that you might like to? I’m not trying to scam you into… blessing her? And would it even be a genuine blessing if it’s an expectation or request?”
Loki looked up from Morgan to meet his gaze. “I am very powerful,” he murmured. “My blessings are always effective. Genuinity doesn’t enter the equation.”
“Now the question is, did you actually just use that colloquialism, or did All Speak translate one of yours into one of mine?”
Loki rolled his eyes, as if Tony could not see the spark of mirth in them. “It seemed fitting, given my audience.”
“Aww, you’re talking math for me,” Tony teased, smile quick and warm. “If you want to give my kid a blessing I’m hardly gonna stop you, Lokes. But it’s conditional. You bless her, you’ve got to put up with me hugging you.”
Tony watched Loki’s posture ease with interest. The moment the word ‘conditional,’ had left his lips, Loki’s face had done an interesting spasm that meant he was either about to eviscerate him, or Tony had actually managed to hurt his feelings. He’d have to rethink his phrasing in the future, even if he had just been teasing.
“Oh, very well. Hand her over.”
Despite the put upon tone, Loki was careful as he accepted the baby from Tony. Morgan settled quickly in his secure hold, which was a pleasant change. She’d been whining most of the morning whenever Tony handed her off, though admittedly this was only the third time he’d done so. Something about Pepper—presumably the introduction of her floral perfume—had set Morgan off, and Rhodey had been too gentle in his caution.
She’d more or less been a perfect angel in his arms, though, which left Pepper muttering to their daughter about not inflating his ego.
Loki began to chant, the sound almost melodic. The eye of every Aesir was on them now, and the others at the party seemed to have caught on. It left them with plenty of gawkers, but relative silence. It was as if Loki’s words were sucking all other noise from the room, soft and old and gorgeous.
No matter how fascinating Tony found the way All Speak could find no translation for the tongues Loki spoke in, he was more caught up on the way Morgan’s pudgy hand curled into Loki’s shirt, wrinkling the material. The slight imperfection in such a perfect scene made him smile. His daughter would be a force of chaos, and was being blessed by its god. It makes something in him bubble up effervescently, and this was not a moment for laughter but he is tempted by it regardless.
When Loki fell silent it was with his lips mere millimeters above Morgan’s brow, and then he pressed a kiss to her head. The familiar green spark that Tony associated with Loki’s sedir blossomed at the contact, and the glow of it spread over Morgan in a gentle, pulsating wave.
“She will be healthy, in body as well as mind.” Loki said, voice just as enrapturing now that he was speaking English again. It's a tone that threatened to catch all of Tony’s attention and pull it away from his daughter.
He pulled both of them close to him, instead. He had already warned Loki, and the mage hardly seems against being drawn into his arms. He let out an amused huffing noise and tilted his head to rest gently aside Tony’s own. Tony very carefully didn't crush Morgan, who's hold on Loki had not loosened a bit, though she did make a soft noise at the feel and smell of her father so close.
“Keeping a good hold of him, hm? Good luck, sweetheart.” His chin rose, face alight in a smile, dangerously close to Loki’s green eyes. “Thanks.”
The whispering increased. Loki, aware of their audience, murmured, “Our people shall talk.”
Tony’s laughter was warm, his response carefree, “Undoubtedly. Should we give them more to say?”
Loki's eyes glittered with mischief and amusement. He smirked. "I've just kissed one Stark. What's another?"
Loki truly considered the day of you and Thor’s wedding to be one of the worst days of his life. He had to stand by his brothers side as his best man and watch him put that ring on your finger. He was silent the whole ceremony, trying to focus on holding back the tears that so desperately wanted to fall down his face.
It was a beautiful summer day the day you and Thor got married but all Loki could think of was the moment you two had shared in this exact spot last summer. You and Loki had been dancing throughout the garden as the sun set, stopping you every once in a while to dip you down, making you smile every time he did.
And when he had brought you up for the last time that evening after dipping you, he pressed a passionate kiss to your lips and promised that he would marry you here someday, when the time was right. Now, you had to get married to someone who wasn’t him in the place he had promised to marry you.
Summer used to be so beautiful to Loki but now it all looked grey to him and all it brought was pain. This pain got worse the longer he had to stay at the wedding and watch you and Thor dance together for the first time as a married couple.
And when he was sure that everyone was paying attention to the two of you, he slipped away from the wedding and disappeared to his room in the palace. And once he was in the privacy of his bedroom, he let his tears fall while his chest moved quickly with every breath he took in and let out. Would he ever truly be able to be with you?
While he cried and gazed up at the stars outside his window, Loki cursed himself for falling for you so quickly. But it was so easy to fall in love with you, he couldn’t help it or stop it from happening. And now he had lost all remaining hope that he would get to love you freely without worrying about someone discovering what was going on between the two of you.
He just wished that people thought he was as good of a man as Thor, that way you would’ve never had to marry his brother in the first place and you wouldn’t have to hide your love either.
————————————
Later that night once the wedding had been over for a couple hours, Loki heard someone knock at his door. And he would’ve ignored them and attempted to go back to sleep if it wasn’t for the voice he had heard on the other side, yours.
“Loki? Can I come in? I really need to talk to you.” you whispered to him through the wood of his bedroom door, mentally hoping that you were loud enough and he heard you.
He then let out a soft sigh and got out of his bed, dragging himself over to his door. He quickly opened it and closed it behind you once you had entered, not wanting to risk anyone seeing you here. Especially after you just got married to his brother.
Your relationship and your love seemed years away now, like it was a dream and you never actually loved him. You were all he had and now you were married to his brother instead of him.
But little did Loki know, while he was suffering at your wedding so were you, trying so hard to hold back your tears just like Loki had been. You felt your heart break in your chest as you promised yourself to Thor, saying “I do.” when the priest had prompted you to.
And once you were within the privacy of Loki’s room,— still wearing your wedding dress — you finally let the tears you had been expertly holding back all day fall. You placed your hand over your mouth — trying to silence your cries — and Loki wrapped his arms around you, letting you press your face into his chest. Your makeup had already been taken off for you not long ago but you couldn’t wait any longer to see Loki so you sneaked out of you and Thor’s room when no one was paying attention and came here.
You looked up at him from your spot in his arms a few moments later, “I’m so sorry, Loki. I-If I had any say in this, I wouldn’t have married him, I would’ve married you. I love you and only you, I swear.” you quietly said to him, easily becoming a bit hysteric while you continued to cry and your breathing sped up.
You desperately needed Loki to know that you didn’t love Thor the way everyone had tried to make him believe. And in this moment, while you cried to him, he understood all of the pain you were also feeling.
He had been so wrong about you and your loyalty to him and he kind of hated himself for it if he was being honest. But now wasn’t the time for him to be insecure, he needed to be there for you and love you the way you deserve to be loved.
Loki then placed one of his hands on the back of your head, placing the other one on your back and brought you closer to his chest once more. He slowly rocked the two of you back and forth while he started to speak to you and you slid your face into the crook of his neck, “Shh, Shh, it’ll be okay, my love, I believe you. We’ll figure something out, I promise.” he said, causing your crying and breathing to slow down.
You nodded against his chest and looked up at him again, “Can I stay in here tonight? I don’t want to face my new reality quite yet. I want to pretend that everything is how it used to be, how it should be for a little longer.” you asked him, hoping that he would say yes. You really didn’t want to have to go back to Thor tonight.
He placed his hands on your face and gently tipped your head back, then pressed a passionate kiss to your lips. “Of course, my love.” he answered in between kisses, making you smile against his lips.
Loki then scooped you up into his arms bridal style and held you close to him while he walked back over to his bed. He slowly unzipped your dress for you after he had set you down on his bed — gently pushing it onto the floor — and he slipped the sleep shirt he had been wearing off of himself and onto you.
That night, you fell asleep in Loki’s bed, in his arms, truly happy while you laid there and pretended that it was Loki you had just married that day, not Thor.
————————————
The following morning, you were woken up by the sound of Loki and Thor yelling at each other in the office attached to Loki’s room as well as the cold temperature that had taken over the bed now that Loki had left it. You frowned at the sound of Thor belittling his brother and overall just being cruel to the raven-haired man.
You assumed that Thor had found you in Loki’s bed that morning and Loki had suggested that they talk in his office to avoid waking you up.
Your heart broke again, this time for your lover as you could hear all of the sadness, anger and desperation in his voice every time he yelled back at his Thor. So you swiftly got out of bed and headed over to Loki’s office, the door just slightly ajar.
You quickly pushed the door open then walked into the room, you looked at Thor first then spoke, “What the hell is going on here?” you sternly said,  immediately silencing their argument.
Thor’s eyes narrowed directly at you, prompting Loki to rush to your side, wanting to be close to you in case his brother tried to hurt you for going behind his back. Instead he spoke to you with a sarcastic tone, “Ah, (y/n)! Care to explain what you were doing sleeping in my brothers bed?” Thor asked as he slowly stepped closer to you and waved his hands about while he spoke, making Loki feel more protective of you.
You took a deep breath and steadied yourself before you explained yourself to him, “I have never loved you, Thor, you should know that, my parents chose for us to get married after all. Loki is the person I love, not you,” you said, pointing to Loki while he still stood at your side, “And if I had any say in it, I would’ve married him yesterday. I have loved him for years and I’m tired of hiding it. I’m tired of pretending like he isn’t my soulmate!” you yelled at Thor and he took a step back from you, processing what you had told him.
Thor had been led to believe that you did love him and your marriage had been arranged just because of tradition. But now that he knew the truth, all of the anger in his system quickly left and instead he felt sadness.
“Is this really how you feel, (y/n)?” Thor gently asked you while he furrowed his eyebrows.
You nodded and spoke to him again, “Yes, he’s all I’ve ever wanted. Loki is truly the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.” you confidently answered, your words telling Thor what he needed to do now.
Thor looked at you then Loki once again, “I’m so sorry, I’ve been such a fool and neither of you deserve the cruelty I’ve shown you. I’ll go speak to father right away and have our divorce put in place and make sure that your wedding will happen as soon as possible. I will make sure that the two of you get the future you deserve, even if father doesn’t agree.” Thor replied, taking off the weight that had been resting on both of your chests.
Loki then stood behind you and placed his dominant hand on your shoulder, the other resting at his side. “Thank you, brother.” he said and with that, Thor left the room and went straight to Odin. He wanted to make things right between the three of you now, he didn’t want to waste a single minute.
And once you two were completely alone in Loki’s office, you turned to face him and reached up to gingerly take his face in your hands, placing a kiss to his lips. You hoped that this kiss displayed all of the love you have for him and when he kissed you back, he hoped that his kiss would communicate the same thing.
When the two of you pulled away from each others lips a few minutes later, Loki softly rubbed his nose against your own, letting his forehead lightly rest on yours. “I love you, my sweet girl.” he said to you in this special moment like those words were a prisoner that had been set free, not caring anymore if anyone in the palace halls heard what he just said to you.
His sweet words made you softly smile at him, “And I love you, my sweet Loki.” you replied, causing him to smile with you while you both felt yourselves blush.
The two of you stayed like that for a little while longer when you eventually started to talk again, “Dance with me, Loki?” you asked him as you separated your face from his and gazed up into his emerald green eyes.
“Of course. You know how much I adore dancing with you, darling.” he answered, still smiling, reminding you of how he never gave up the chance to dance with you and feel you in his arms.
And while the two of you danced together, happy tears started to fall down to your cheeks, prompting Loki to stop moving right away. He placed one of his large hands on your cheek and lovingly wiped your tears away with his thumb, “What’s wrong?” he urgently asked you, his eyebrows furrowing again.
You simply smiled up at him, “We don’t have to hide anymore. We’re finally free to love each other without fearing what could happen if someone finds out.” you explaining, letting Loki know that these were happy tears on your face.
“We are, darling and I plan on letting everyone know how much I love you every chance I get.” he made known to you, that last bit of his statement making you grin.
You were truly his now and he would finally get the future with you that he had always wanted since the day he first met you six years ago. You two would actually get to spend the rest of your lives together and in love.
Be With You Everywhere
A short drabble for Little Lies (and a set up for Thor's spin off)
Tumblr media
You check your phone for the nth time. You're getting tired of waiting. In fact, you're ready to leave.
You feel like a sore thumb sticking out. Sat on the high stool with your empty martini glass, a satin top and the tight pencil skirt making you chafe for a pair of leggings and loose tee. The gin would go better with some Netflix and pillows.
You sigh and rub your cheek. You're used to the inconvenience of knowing Loki but it doesn't mean you enjoy it. You hook your heel on the crossbar and rest your chin in your hand. Another martini would ease your impatience.
You signal to the bartender, all the way at the other end. You lean forward impatiently, running your fingers up the stem of your glass.
"Martini?" A man drawls from beside you, "sounds good."
Before you can react, the man claims the stool next to you. As the bartender finally heads down in your direction, the stranger raises two fingers, "dos for us, sir."
The bartender takes away your empty glass as you thumb the ring on your finger, making a show of the gesture, "I'm waiting for someone."
"No need, he's late," he insists, "and what kind of bozo would leave a woman like you waiting?"
"My husband," you retort, "I appreciate the attention but I'm flattered. And married."
"Happily?" He muses, "I've watched you half the night, staring at your phone and scowling. A man worthy of you wouldn't leave you all alone for so long."
"Does that line usually work?"
"I to be fair, I don't usually approach married women," he smiles at the bartender as he brings your drinks. He asks him to put the order on his tab, "they usually approach me."
"Sure," you scoff and stir the toothpick in the gin, "thank you for the drink but divorces are costly."
"I can put that on my tab as well," he leans an arm on the leather trim of the bar as he angles to face you, "James. Conrad."
You shake your head and smile. You give your name and slide the olives off the toothpick into the gin, "my husband is known to get jealous. And slightly violent."
"Sounds kinky," he intones, "I've been known for a similar habit, I confess."
You look at him. He has brilliant blue eyes and a charming crooked smile. He almost reminds you of Loki, but not so uptight. A tee shirt under his slim blazer, and a pair of dark jeans. His posture suggests military, likely ex.
"It's his least endearing quality," you rebuff, "I'm not much for angry men and their egos."
"Angry? I find it fun," he raises his glass and sips.
The tap of soles crosses the floor and you turn in time to greet Loki as he strides up, phone in hand as he fixes his tie, "darling, sorry I'm... late. Pardon, I was unaware we were having company. A friend?"
"Not your friend," James chortles, "but I admit, the lady is rather friendly."
"The lady. My wife," Loki snarls as he tweaks a brow, "darling, is this man bothering you?"
"I'm keeping her company as her husband remains errant. How sad," James takes a healthy gulp of gin, "now, we've just got our drinks and I never leave one unfinished--"
"Would the both of you let me get a word in?" You sneer, "I was just informing this kind stranger that I am indeed married."
"Yes, very married," Loki intones.
"Ahem," you give him a pointed look, "and he was kind enough to congratulate me on our recent nuptials with a martini."
"Perhaps if you'd been on time, I'd have got a full round," James smirks, "I do wonder how long a marriage can last with such discord."
"Eh," Loki narrows his eyes as he steps closer, hooking his arm around you, "I have a word of advice, yes? There are plenty of single women to be found in this sort of place, not hard to spot. I can point you towards a few."
"None half so gorgeous," James winks at you, "but glad to know you've such a keen eye. Always on the lookout, yes?"
"Please," you roll your eyes, "James," you stand and take your martini, "thank you for the drink but I am much too tired to argue all night. You have a lovely evening," you grab your purse and hit Loki's stomach with it, "let's find a table, Lo."
You strut past him. He doesn't budge at first but before you can turn to chide him, he relents. You choose the table against the wall and sit, placing your purse at the side as you nurse your drink. He sighs as he lowers himself across from you, his eyes still on the bar.
"I rush across the city and find you flirting with other men," he scoffs.
"Lo, you kept me waiting nearly an hour and are whining like a baby," you reproach, "for the time being, I'm going home with my husband. Don't make me change my mind."
You peek over at James and raise your glass in a toast as you grin. Loki snarls and leans over the table, "don't, darling. Traffic was horrible, I swear--" He hisses and sits back, smoothing his shirt, "besides I didn't even get to break the good news."
"Oh, amazing news, I'm sure," you sling one legs over the other, playing deliberately with the lacy hem of your shirt. He's distracted for a moment before he can't right himself.
"It is," he chimes, his tone striking you as unusually chipper, "my brother is to be married."
You nearly choke and put down your glass heavily, "Thor? Really? Your mother must be thrilled."
"Mmm," he leans back as he considers you. The toe of his leather shoe meets your calf and runs up as he pokes out the tip of his tongue, "and you. You must be elated to accompany me back to Asgard once more. Countess."
"Ugh, don't call me that," you grimace, "yes, lovely memories call us back, do they?"
"Darling," he purrs as he drags his hand down his lapel, "you've never seen Asgard in the spring..."
"I've never wanted to."
"Well, you're mine now, you have to," he says and aims a look toward James. You don't bother glancing over, you know he's still there.
"I am, so quit being such a child," you warn as you finish your martini, "I could use another drink."
He grins and his eyes wander down to your empty glass, "you could," he hums lowly.
"Mmm," you nod and brush his ankle with your toes, "you know you're a lot easier to bear with some alcohol around."
"Yes, dear," he plucks up your glass, "but you know, so are you."
Where said character(s) react to their wife having to defend their children from a bear/forest creature. And easily defeating it. Going from complete deadly killer to momma bear who's hugging her sweet children close.
Love a feral momma bear. - marshmellow
So I really only see this prompt as Bjorn and Ubbe with the kid part BUT since Ivar has a special place in my heart I'll write him with kids as well
HOW THE RAGNARSONS REACT TO YOU FENDING OFF A CRITTER TO SAVE YOUR CHILDREN
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE LOOK YOU GET YOU AND YOU CHILDREN ARE STRUGGLING TO HAUL A BEAR CARCASS TO KATTEGAT
LIKE WHAT!?
Bjorn was definitely worried, like why was his beloved and their children carrying a dead bear? Are yall alright?!
"Wife! Are you okay? What happened?" Bjorn rose from his seat on the porch and ran over to you and your kin.
You huffed and threw the bear's head and front arms down to the ground, your kids followed suit and laid down on the ground with the dead bear.
"What happened, Bjorn, is that we were hunting and this foul, loathsome, lowlife, bear thought he could harm us. Jokes on it, we're having a feast tonight!" You roared so all of Kattegat could hear you, everyone around cheered in delight.
"That is quite a feat Y/N," Bjorn looked down at the bear and got a thought. He took your hand and led you up on the porch of the great hall, your children followed their dad up there with you. "Everyone, I would like to introduce you to my wife once more as Y/N Bear-Killer!" Bjorn raised your hand up with his as everyone celebrated and congratulated you. Your kids hugged your legs as their congratulations to you, you bent down and embraced them. Everyone, including the woodland critters, knew now not to mess with you, especially your children.
Tumblr media
Out of the corner of Ubbe's eye he saw you and your children hauling a moose in a pull wagon... or at least trying to
First of all, you didn't have the pull wagon when you left so when did you come back and grab it?
Second, WHERE THE HELL DID THE DEAD MOOSE COME FROM?!
He had to do a double take on it to make sure it wasn't an illusion by the Trickster God Loki
"Love! What happened? Are you and the children alright?" You sighed and dropped the handles to the cart, the moose slid off of it to the ground. Your children were small enough to sit in the moose's antler, so sit they did, tired from helping their momma.
"I'm fine, nothing but a long soak with herbs won't fix. But this here moose is obviously not alright for it is dead, a punishment for attempting to hurt us," You stretched out your sore and tired muscles, that soak was really starting to sound good.
"Oh my brave, yet crazy wife, I'm glad you are alright, but when did you get the pull cart?"
"Oh that? We borrowed it from a farmer nearby, by the time we would've came here and back to the carcass it would've been already claimed by the wolves," you shrugged as if it was self-explanatory. You beckoned your kids over to you by kneeling and opening your arms, they ran towards you and as soon as they reached you, you picked them up in your arms. "Now, if you'll excuse me, your very strong children and I would like a bath and a nap. Go ahead and clean the moose, we feast tonight."
You turned on your heel and walked towards the long house, leaving a shocked Ubbe staring at your back. Did all of that really just happen?
Tumblr media
I feel like Ivar would get horny if he knew you took down a huge ass wolf (which explains the second pic)
like the first one is "Wow, my wife took down that wolf, who's almost as big as Fenrir? Damn that's hot"
The wolf slung across your shoulders was heavy, but you had no other means of carrying it, and the pelt would make a nice cloak or blanket for your kin. You walked through Kattegat with your child in tow, they were concerned for your wellbeing, but you assured them you were fine. Ivar watched as you hauled the wolf up to the long house, not bothering to get up knowing you were as strong as Freyja. You dropped the wolf at his feet and fell into his open arms and lap.
" It seems you had an eventful hunt, love," Ivar wrapped his arms around your waist, but before he could get comfortable your child crawled up into your lap, it's a good thing Ivar can't feel your combined weight, only the presence.
"Yes, indeed we did, what do you think little one? Should we use the pelt as a blanket, or turn it into a cloak?" The child pondered before saying their answer. "Blanket it is then," you kissed their forehead and let them go. "Now run along and go get Uncle Bjorn, he'll help you turn the wolf into a nice blanket." You smiled as they slid down Ivars legs and ran to get Bjorn.
"Are you alright my love?" Ivar looked over your upper body as he rubbed circles into your lower back.
"Yes, husband, nothing like a good back massage won't fix," you leaned into his touch, being comforted by Ivar was definitely something you needed right now. Ivar gave you a mischievous look through his eyelashes.
"Instead of a massage," he started. "How about I break your back?"
The Selection || Final Chapter ||
A/N: woooooooooow this too forever to do and after so many edits and rearranging, I think I got it perfect! Welcome to the final chapter of The Selection. Please leave a comment or reblog, I don't bite 🥰❤️
Chapter Ten || Masterlist
Tumblr media
There was silence for several minutes after Loki realised why the King of the Jötnar was standing in the Bifrost Observatory. The youngest son of Odin’s whole body tensed up and the grip on your hand was almost painful as he tried his best to keep himself together.
In his place, you squared your shoulders and raised your head high before glaring at Odin. “My King,” you spoke sweetly, breaking the thick tension of the room and forcing all eyes onto you, “I had thought you were not on speaking terms with Jötunheim?”
Laufey turned his terrifying gaze to you and yet when you looked at him, all you could see was the same eyes that you had seen on Loki when he had revealed his Jötunn side to you. Those entrancing ruby red eyes, the way Laufey held himself eerily similar to Loki, all those things that you could see that made you second guess the hatred you had started to feel.
“You are the girl my son chose,” Laufey sneered, stepping closer to you and leering down, assuming immediately that you were afraid of him, “we sent our best Jötunn to win my boy’s heart and he chose you. A Midgardian.”
You smiled politely and held out your hand, “Y/N Y/L/N, very nice to meet you, father-in-law.”
Laufey reeled back and bared his teeth, sneering at the sheer audacity of the girl in front of him being unafraid. Loki’s body tensed up at the heat of the glare that Laufey was giving you and he wanted nothing more than to slay the monster where he stood but he knew that he would be committing regicide and would be thrown to the dogs despite his high status.
“Excuse me,” your father spoke up, turning all heads to the seemingly forgotten group of Midgardians gathered behind you and Loki. Your father pushed forward and raised his head to look up at Laufey, “I do not like men who sneer and ridicule my daughter. Giant or not. My Y/N has worked long and hard to get to this moment and has seen many a bad day, you will do well to congratulate her, not be scornful.”
“You dare speak to me, filthy Midgardian,” Laufey growled, the Observatory suddenly becoming very frosty and the temperature dropped a few degrees, “you are the lowest out of all the species in the Nine Realms. I would advise you to keep quiet in front of the higher species, I’m surprised you can speak to begin with.”
“That is enough,” Loki finally spoke up beside you, making your father twitch before he walked in front with you in hand. His emerald eyes shone with anger as he glared up at Laufey, his seiðr emphasising his power and control. “I will not have you speak that way to the family I am marrying into,” he finished, squeezing your hand and never looking away from the Jötunn  King.
The King turned his eyes back to Loki and you saw them soften somewhat before the hardened expression returned and a growl rumbled through his chest. “You do not speak to me that way, Loptr,” Laufey snarled, “I have watched you through all of these months, I have seen you fall for this mortal and it perplexes me.”
“Maybe it is because you have never felt love before?” your father spoke from behind you two and you glared at him over your shoulder and he shrunk away, suddenly nervous.
“Stay out of things you do not understand, mortal,” Laufey barked, his teeth flashing in the setting sun and forcing your family to shudder at the sheer drop in temperature, “I loved once. Before the war. They were stolen from me. My spouse was killed, my firstborn kidnapped.”
Loki froze and his brows pulled together in confusion. Kidnapped? He thought, his mind racing back to the argument he’d had in Odin’s office, so I wasn’t abandoned?
“That is enough!” Odin’s booming voice bounced off the rounded walls of the Observatory, bringing attention back to himself and his presence in the room, “Laufey, you insisted on seeing Loki and now that you have, you will return to Jötunheim.
“You will do no such thing,” you glared up at Laufey before you locked eyes with the King of Asgard. You could tell that he wouldn’t want to hear what you had to say but you didn’t care, it needed to be said and you weren’t going to disregard what you’d just heard. “Your majesty, you told my fiance that you found him abandoned,” you began, taking a step closer to the King with an eyebrow raised, “why, then, would Laufey say that his firstborn was kidnapped?”
“You have no right to speak to me in this way, girl,” Odin sneered as he glared at you, his grip tightening on Gungnir and you saw the subtle sign in his eyes that he was tired.
Curiously, you turned to Laufey and dipped into a curtsy. The Jötunn seemed surprised but nodded his head in acknowledgement before his eyes wandered over to Loki. “I demand that my son marries in Jötunheim, where he belongs.”
“It would be too cold for my family,” you replied and Loki nodded beside you, his words escaping him as he thought over the whole story and thought of the possibility that he was actually wanted by the Jötun in front of him but it sounded impossible even in his mind.
“That is correct,” Loki replied softly, feeling smaller than he was under the fiery gaze of the King of Jötunheim. “I cannot allow that proposal as my fiancee will not be able to attend and that is the whole point of a wedding.”
Odin was fed-faced, almost looking purple with anger as he watched the exchange between his enemy and adopted son. The King of Asgard had not planned for this to happen, he had planned for Loki to jump into action and slay Laufey where he stood for even thinking of stepping onto Asgard’s soil. But he didn’t. In another way, Loki was inferior to Thor. Thor would have protected the realm.
“Very well then,” Laufey backed down quickly, his shoulders squared and confident as he turned to Odin, “I shall stay here until my son marries this mortal and then I shall return to my kingdom.”
The King of Asgard looked as if a volcano was about to erupt out of his face, it was so red and he was almost shaking with anger. “You will not stay,” the King growled, his eyes full of loathing for his enemy, “you have seen the child you abandoned and now you need to leave.”
“Abandon, did I?” Laufey sneered, stepping close to Odin and reaching out to Gungnir with his icy hand, feeling the gold react to the cold and begin to shudder, “I remember this weapon. It was the same one that blew down our temple and murdered my mate. I remember this weapon as the weapon you held to my throat as one of your Einherjar took my son. I had feared it was the weapon that took my son’s life.”
You turned to Loki and saw that tears were starting to form in his eyes. His seiðr crackled in the air as he looked between Odin and Laufey. “Sleipnir…” he whispered numbly, not reacting when Odin ordered him to be quiet, “you stole Sleipnir from me just as you stole me from Laufey. You stole my son… my son. My son!”
Odin seemed shocked at the anger in Loki’s voice and his eyes swept up to take in Laufey’s reaction and he saw pure hatred in the eyes of the monster. “Sleipnir would have grown up to be a risk to Asgard’s safety had he stayed with you.”
“Gutten min ville ha vokst opp til å ha en bedre far enn meg!(My boy would have grown up to have a better father than me!)” Loki snarled, his words becoming daggers as his anger surged forward. “But it wasn’t just Sleipnir, no, no. It was Fenrir, Hel, Jormungandr. It was all four of my children. Laufey should be proud that you just took me!”
“ENOUGH!” Odin boomed, trying to get the attention away from Loki and back onto the monster king.
“NO YOU WILL LISTEN!” Loki shouted back, stepping forward and pushing you behind him to protect you from how angry he was, “you say you’re a just King but you stole me. You say you were a noble man but you stole my children from me. I am a father. I am a mother. You put me up against my brother in a competition for your approval for the throne. You never approved of anything I did outside of me fighting my brother for the throne!”
“Loki…” you whispered, pressing a hand to his shoulder and resting your forehead on the nape of his neck, “can we leave? That’s enough.”
Loki straightened instantly, raising his hand and smoothing down his shoulder-length hair and forcing his face into a mask of indifference. “Now, much of the day has been wasted with this argument, my darling and her family need escorting to the castle. King Laufey,” Loki waited for the Jötun to look at him before he continued, “stay as long as you’d like. As long as I live here, you are welcome in Asgard.”
With that, Loki turned to your family and offered them an apologetic smile before guiding them out of the Observatory and to a carriage that was waiting for them and, much to Loki’s disgust, was being pulled by Sleipnir. Undeterred, Loki helped your family into the carriage then walked over to Sleipnir and stroked his mane.
The stallion jumped slightly at the touch before looking at his mother and whinnying with joy before nuzzling his head against his mother’s chest. Loki laughed slightly and pressed a kiss to the great horse’s muzzle before walking back to the carriage and stepping inside, sitting beside you.
As the carriage began to move, you gazed over at your fiance and released a breath you didn’t know you were holding. You took his hand and looked him in the eye as you whispered, “are you okay?”
“We’re freeing him,” Loki whispered darkly, his eyes clouded with tears, “on our wedding night. Not even Odin will stop me.”
You smiled and nodded at him, resting your head on his shoulder as you watched the scenery and city go by.
“Loki, dear,” your mother spoke up from the opposite seat, earning yours and Loki’s attention as she sat at the edge of the seat, “you look famished, my dear, did you not eat breakfast this morning? I left some eggs and bacon for you.”
Loki looked shocked that your mother was speaking to him and his cheeks coloured as he looked away bashfully, “it escaped my mind, unfortunately.”
Your mother clicked her tongue and started rummaging through her bag before pulling out a small biscuit tin. “Well, lucky that I baked some cookies before we left this morning,” she said in a joyful tone as she opened the lid and held it out to you and Loki, “eat up, that argument has drained you, I can tell. And you’ll need all the strength you can get if you’re going to go stealing back your own horse-child.”
Tentatively, Loki took two cookies from the tin and bit into one of them, his eyes widening in surprise at the flavour they held. His lips spread into a smile as he ate the first one and began nibbling on the second after whispering a faint, “thank you, mother.”
“Do you always dress in green?” Donna asked from her seat on her father’s lap, her eyes staring at loki with barely contained excitement, “I mean… doesn’t it get boring?”
Loki looked at your younger sister and his smile became warmer than before as he shook his head, “I chose this colour when I was about your age in Asgardian years. Ever since, wearing green has always been my thing just as red has always been Thor’s thing.”
“But don’t you like other colours?” Milly asked from your mother’s lap, her head rested on her breast as she stared at the Asgardian Prince curiously, “would people hate you if you wore… blue?”
The Prince chuckled at the question and shook his head as he sighed softly, “no, little one, but blue is mostly mother’s colour and therefore it would be like I am stealing her status if I wore her colours. You are going to be a Duchess, you shall learn all of this soon.”
“Why aren’t we going to be Princesses like Y/N?” Donna asked with a tilt of her head, sadness pooling in her eyes at the reveal that she wouldn’t be royalty.
Sensing the distress about to form, Loki quickly jumped in to save his skin as he replied, “because to become a Princess, you’d need to marry me and I have learned that Y/N really despises sharing me. Therefore, you and your sister and mother shall become Duchesses whilst your father becomes a Duke of Asgard. It is the highest title you will get other than royalty.”
“Oh,” Donna whispered, her eyes far away as she thought of the thing that Loki had just told her and she smiled wide as she looked over at you, “Duchess Donna Y/L/N! That sounds so cool!”
You laughed and opened your arms, urging your sister to come into your arms and you laughed when both of them jumped into your waiting embrace. Your sisters were more than excited to have their new lives but you saw the unease in your parent’s eyes.
“Would we have to live in Asgard?” your mother whispered from her place in the carriage, gathering all the attention as she fidgeted with her nails and bit her lip, “we don’t belong here, your highness.”
“Of course not!” Loki quickly replied, holding his hands out and smiling as he saw your mother shaking, “you will be allowed to visit whenever you wish, of course, but Midgard shall always be your home! Your titles here will ensure you have a house here so you can visit Y/N whenever you wish! While on Midgard, you will be back to normal, I swear it.”
The family relaxed at that and nodded with a smile. The rest of the trip to the castle was quiet, nobody wanted to break the quiet in the carriage at risk of Loki having to think of Laufey or of the wedding that would be taking place tomorrow. As the carriage entered the castle’s gates, you could sense your family beginning to become nervous.
When the carriage stopped moving, a footman opened the door and helped your mother and sisters out before helping you down and straightening your gown with a caring smile. Loki and your father disembarked last and Loki instantly caught your hand and guided you ahead of your family to the entrance to the palace.
Donna and Milly could barely contain their excitement as Loki pushed open the grand doors and they got their first real look into the palace. Your sisters screamed and before your mother could stop them, they raced ahead and too in the splendour of the entrance hall.
“This is where you stood waiting, Y/N!” Donna called out over her shoulder with a grin, looking up at the ceiling and around to the grand doors leading to the throne room and great hall, “you stood here on your first day with the other eleven!”
You smiled and walked over to your sister and took her hand, kneeling to her level and looking at the grand doors. “You don’t know this but I actually met Loki before we met in the throne room,” you whispered to her before your eyes flicked over to Loki.
Loki chuckled softly and folded his arms as he shook his head, making his curls tremble on his shoulders. “Indeed,” Loki replied with a smirk, “she bumped into me because her eyes wandered and she wasn’t paying attention to her surroundings.”
Your cheeks coloured and you smiled weakly before looking away. “I hated him when I first saw him,” you whispered with a grin, your eyes shining with the memory, “I thought exactly the same as everyone else. That he was a distant Prince who wouldn’t care which girl he chose as long as they gave him an heir. Obviously, in hindsight, I was wrong.”
You decided to give your family a tour of the castle and it took the majority of the day to show them all of the places that you considered important for them to know. You took your mother and your sisters down to the kitchens where the cooks had already put together a lovely assortment of cakes, brownies, cookies and biscuits. Donna stuffed so many cookies into the pockets of her best dress and Milly ate most of the brownies while grinning. Your mother allowed herself two cupcakes and a jammie dodger.
~~~~~
“It is unbelievable to know that our own little Y/N is becoming Loki’s wife tomorrow,” your mum sighed happily as she walked beside you and your sisters later on that day with a bag of foods from the kitchen on her arm.
You smiled and felt Loki squeeze your hand as he eyed your mother with a proud smile, “I am beyond honoured to marry your daughter, Mrs Y/L/N, she is the bravest, determined and powerful woman I have ever met.”
With a shy smile, you ducked your head and pressed a kiss to Loki’s cheek before seeing that you had now arrived at your chambers. Sighing sadly, you kissed your sister’s cheek as a goodbye and hugged your mother and watched a guard guide them to their quarters before walking into your bedroom with Loki.
“Is it tradition here too?” you asked once the door was locked, waiting until Loki looked at you with a raised brow before continuing, “is it tradition for the groom to not spend the night with their fiancee the night before the wedding?”
“Yes, that is tradition here too,” Loki replied easily with a smile before crossing the distance and taking your hands, his eyes boring into yours with unbridled passion, “but when have I ever been one for tradition?”
You sucked in a breath and Loki’s eyes fell to your lips before he leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to yours. The coldness of his lips against yours had you gasping again before you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him closer to you. The God was tall so you had to stand on your tiptoes to be able to reach but you managed as Loki’s hands cupped your thighs and helped you jump up and wrap your legs about his middle as his tongue warred with yours.
Pulling away from the kiss, Loki guided you over to your bed and allowed you to indulge yourself into marking the skin of his neck before he threw you onto the comfortable mattress and knelt on the bed between your legs. With a racing heart, you watched as your Prince unbuttoned his shirt button by button and his emerald eyes never left yours as he did, a playful smirk pulling at his lips.
You began to unlace the front of your bodice before your hands lifted above you to rest on the pillows by Loki’s magic. “Let me,” Loki whispered softly, his fingers wrapping around the laces of the bodice, gently tugging them apart and undressing you.
Once you were undressed for him, Loki eyed you hungrily and smirked as he leaned down and pressed a deep kiss to your lips. Arousal sparked in your body as Loki pressed his body to yours and you felt the hardness against your stomach as he stayed pressed against you thus. With a gasp of breath a moment later, you tugged down his pants and heard him groan in pleasure as you did, smiling as you heard your name fall from his lips as he shuddered.
“I thought you’d want to stick to at least the marital traditions, my love,” you whispered, your hands now allowed to roam the beautiful curls of his hair.
“Do you want me to?” Loki asked with a slight husk to his voice.
“Don’t you dare,” you replied before pulling him back into a kiss.
Loki sat up after a few moments and nudged your legs open wide as he kept eye-contact with you. The Prince gently slid two fingers down through your slit, circling your clit gently and watching you moan happily at the contact before sliding them inside you and curling them. You mewled with pleasure and thrust your hips up against his fingers, brokenly whispering his name as your eyes tried their hardest to focus on the Prince in front of you.
Loki’s fingers began to thrust gently inside you and he watched as you met the movement with a thrust of your hips eagerly. After a few seconds, his fingers began to pick up the pace and thrust against the spot inside you that makes you see stars, forcing moan after moan to fall from your lips alongside eager whimpers and whispers of his name. Loki, fuelled by these noises, pressed his thumb against your clit and rubbed it at the same pace that his fingers fucked you. You whined and shook beneath him as the coil in your middle began to form and bliss came rushing forth.
The Prince of Asgard leaned over you, latching onto one of your nipples and running his tongue over the hardened bud before gently tugging on it with his teeth and looking at you to gague your reaction. Overwhelmed by the stimulation, you succumbed to your first orgasm of the evening.
After allowing you a few minutes to recover, Loki nudged your legs open again and smiled lovingly at you as he pressed the head of his cock against your entrance and slowly pushed in. You moaned heartily at the pressure of his cock pressing inside you but the pleasure overwhelmed the pain of the stretch and you eagerly thrust your hips forward to get him to sink in deeper. Usually, Loki would stay on his knees and fuck you hard but this time, he bent over you and thrust deep into you, eliciting a deep moan from your mouth in bliss.
You wound your arms around his neck and moaned his name as he began to thrust into you gently, a blush forming on your cheeks at the sheer amount of pleasure you felt from this position. Loki pressed his lips against yours as his hands pulled your legs up to wrap around his hips and his thrusts deepened. The fast drag of his cock against your walls had you moaning into the kiss, pulling him closer with your legs, groaning as the head of his cock pressed against that good spot inside you.
Spurred on by your encouragements, Loki rested his head in the nook of your neck and wound his arms around you and held you in a loving embrace as he left marks down your neck, claiming you in places he knew you couldn’t hide in time for the wedding. After a few minutes of the pleasurable movements inside you, Loki’s hips began to stutter so his hand flew down to circle your clit, trying to bring your orgasm closer so you would cum with him.
Moaning loudly into the God’s neck, your eyes rolled back and you succumbed to the second orgasm of the night.
You laid limply on the bed together before Loki conjured a damp blanket and pulled out, gently cleaning you and pressing a loving kiss to your sweaty brow.
“Jeg elsker deg,” he whispered to you, his hand stroking down your cheek.
“Jeg elsker deg,” you replied, flashing him a blissful smile.
Loki chuckled and extinguished the candles beside the bed and pulled you to his chest as he fell asleep. You stayed awake a few minutes longer just listening to the gentle breaths escaping the man beside you in sleep before they lulled you into a peaceful sleep alongside him.
~~
The curtains were pulled open very early the next morning, causing you and Loki to groan at the interruption to your slumber. You sat up and glared at Charlotte and Madysin who were staring openly at Loki sleeping in your bed.
“My Lady, the traditions,” Madysin whispered, looking around anxiously as though worrying that Odin would storm in and behead both serving girls for allowing the Prince to break another tradition.
“Ladies, we wanted a night together so we had it,” you whispered with a smile before pulling Loki’s pillow out from underneath his head, “although the Prince is not allowed to see my dress so he needs to make himself scarce.”
With a groan, Loki sat up in bed, pressed a kiss to your cheek and disappeared into green smoke.
Wasting no more time, the maids grabbed you and rushed you into the bathroom. You allowed the girls to bathe you and wash your hair, smiling at the peace it gave you to think of last night fondly.
“Honestly, my lady,” Madysin was speaking as she shook her head, “you should honour Asgard’s traditions if you are going to be its Princess! And you must set an example for your little sisters!”
“It’s alright, Madysin,” you assured her with a smile, resting a hand on her arm, trying to show her that you took her opinion and treasured it, “you’re right but we wanted each other. And Loki can be very persuasive.”
You smiled as the colour rose to Madysin’s cheeks and she carried on washing your hair before helping you out of the tub and the two maids guided you back into your main chambers. They helped you into the corset you were required to wear and the undergarments before beginning to help you into the underskirts to your wedding dress.
You had only seen your wedding dress once and you had fallen in love with it immediately. As such, you were so excited to wear it for the first time today. It was a variant of the ballgown you wore to the ball that you had danced with Loki at and it had a hue of emerald going through the embroidery if one paid close attention to it in the sunlight.
Charlotte walked over to you holding the main gown and you smiled with joy when you saw it, holding up your arms so that the maid could slide it onto your body. Once it slipped on easily and the girls had pulled out the skirt properly, you allowed yourself to look in the mirror and you gasped as you saw how beautiful you looked. Pulling up the skirt gently, you spun in a circle and watched as the skirt followed you with a glistening hue of emerald.
“It’s beautiful,” you whispered as tears formed in your eyes, feeling truly like a Princess now.
“You look just like a Princess,” came a voice from behind you and you looked through the mirror to see your mother standing at the door with tears in her eyes. Your mother crossed the room and closed the door behind her before taking your hands and looking into your eyes, “I see this girl in front of me and I see you just as I have always seen you. My beautiful Princess Y/N, do you see yourself as we have always seen you now?”
You nodded and wrapped your arms around your mothers shoulders, allowing yourself to cry before the makeup was applied. You’d never had the time to see yourself as beautiful or to think of marriage before The Selection came along but now that you were here, you felt like everything was going to be alright again.
Your mother stayed with you as you got your makeup done by the castle professional while Frigga’s personal handmaiden assisted in pulling your hair into the most intricate and stunning style you could imagine. To finish it off, she placed one of Frigga’s tiara’s in your hair and flashed you an approving smile before bowing and leaving the room.
“Shall we go see your father?” your mother whispered to you, taking your gloved hand hand giving it a squeeze, smiling when you nodded.
The walk to your father’s quarters was silent apart from the click of your heels and your mother’s shoes against the marble floors. You could see your reflection in the golden walls and you felt as if your pride was boosted when you saw how lovely you looked, as if you were a Princess.
When you were finally outside your father’s quarters, your mother pressed a kiss to your nose and whispered, “wait for us to let you in, baby, we need to get this photographed too.”
You smiled and allowed your mother to enter the quarters and you were suddenly alone in the palace corridors. This was your wedding day! You had gone through months of living with some of the best and worst women you had ever met and it all led to this day, the day that you would marry the love of your life.
The door to your father’s quarters opened and your mother guided you inside. You saw your father standing by the window and you grinned as you walked over to him and rested your gloved hand on his shoulder, feeling how they immediately began to tremble and you smiled softly as he turned to look at you and instantly he clasped a hand over his mouth as he whispered, “oh, my girl.”
Tears formed in your eyes at his reaction and you allowed him to cup your cheek and study you. His eyes overflowed with love as he took in the wedding dress and how your hair was styled and the makeup that brought out your natural beauty. “My girl,” he whispered emotionally, smiling as his eyes met yours, “you look lovely. Oh my girl, my girl.”
Your father pulled you into a hug and pressed a loving kiss to your temple before pulling back to look at you again. “You look just like your mother did on her wedding day,” your father whispered with a nostalgic smile, “you look so beautiful. I love you, my girl.”
“I love you too, papa,” you whispered, melting into his hug and enjoying this family moment that you had. You hadn’t really had the time to be close to your father that much before The Selection. You were always working and so was he. Now, he finally got to see the real you, the little girl he’d hoped to see marry before his death, he finally got to see you happy.
~~
It was time now. It was ten minutes to noon and you were due to marry Loki at noon. You bit your lip as you waited in the antechamber to the Asgardian throne room where all the people would be watching and hundreds of cameras were positioned to broadcast to the Nine Realms. You were starting to get very nervous now that it was starting to get closer to the time you were due to get married.
Your father stood beside you as he looked down at the pocket watch that he had bought with The Selection’s money. “We have a few more minutes, cupcake,” he whispered to you, smiling as he saw how nervous you were starting to become, “I was worried on the day that I married your mother. I was worried that she’d run away or something. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to provide for her or make her happy. Trust me, everything is going to be okay, my daughter.”
You smiled and embraced your father before a bell rang to signal that it was time and your heart began hammering in your chest and you bit your lip. The doors opened in front of you and the transparent silk curtains were pulled apart as gentle music began to play. Your father offered you his arm and when you’d gotten yourself together, you took his arm and began to walk down the long aisle toward where Loki was standing beneath a floral arch adorned with emeralds and your birthstone.
It had been arranged that your father would walk you half way down the aisle and hand you over to Odin as a way of him handing you over to the royal family of Asgard to marry Loki. You watched as all the people cheered when you walked past but some glared and you heard mumbles that other Selected should be in your place. You paid no mind, you carried on your journey down the aisle and squeezed your father’s arm when you saw Odin waiting for you.
“This is where I leave you, cupcake,” your father whispered to you, pressing a kiss to your forehead with a small smile, “I love you.”
“I love you too, papa,” you whispered before allowing your father to give your arm to Odin and you watched your father bow to the King of Asgard before allowing the King to walk ahead of him with you.
As Odin guided you down the aisle, your anger burned deep in your chest but your face was indifferent. The anger became worse when Odin whispered to you, “you won the Selection, my dear, but as Princess you will do as I tell you. Be silent and obedient and you will be respected.”
You scowled as you heard what he said and you turned your head to him, “respectfully, your grace, I shall do no such thing. I have a voice, I am young, I will love the Prince of Jötunheim with all of my heart and I will in no way be your silent Princess. As soon as I marry Loki, you will have no control over him.”
Your eyes flicked to Loki’s and you smiled despite the interaction you just had with the King and out of duty, Odin took your hand and gave it to Loki before sitting beside Frigga.
With a smile, Loki gently took off your gloves and laced his fingers with yours to show the first touch on the day of marriage was his. His eyes shone with love as he squeezed your hands and whispered, “you look beautiful.”
“You look dashing,” you replied with a soft smile.
~~
The ceremony began and a hush fell on the crowd as everything began.
Loki unsheathed a sword on his hip with an emerald carved into the shape of his Nordic symbol on the pommel. He balanced it on both of his hands and stared into your eyes with a smile as he began to speak the traditional vows, “from lover to lover, man to woman, soul to soul. I am yours, you are mine. I promise that with this sword I will fight for you and protect you. Day to day, month to month, year to year, century by century shalt pass and mine blade shalt not rust. I pledge to thee, mine heart is thine, just as thine heart is mine.”
You smiled and turned to a maid holding the traditional blade and you cut your palm, wincing in pain as you watched the blood leak out and onto Loki’s blade. “My dearest love,” you began with a smile, running your hand over the blade and smearing it with your blood, “I give you my blood as a sign of my love and trust for you in battle. I accept thine heart as mine. I accept thine by thine blood and by thy heart. Jötun, Aesir, Midgardian, unite by our marriage.”
Loki smiled and watched as the blood sunk into the blade and the gold threaded lovingly through the handle tinted red slightly with your blood, a sign that you will be with him even in battle in this blade. Taking the blade from you, he gently cut your lip and watched the blood trickle down your chin as he allowed you to take the blade back and cut his lip before he surged forward and kissed you deeply.
When you pulled away, you smiled brightly as Queen Frigga stepped up to the both of you and tied a ribbon around your conjoined hands. “You both have shown your devotion, you both have given your blessings,” she began with a smile, “I, Queen Frigga, as Goddess of Marriage, do pronounce you husband and wife.”
You grinned and pressed your lips to Loki’s, wrapping your arms around his neck as you pressed your body to his. Loki responded quickly, holding your hips as the crowd roared around you and he deepened the kiss.
“Y/N, my dear?” Frigga spoke, breaking the moment between you and Loki, “I know that you are mortal and are already a quarter ways through your life so I would like to give you a way to extend your life to that of an Aesir.”
“Your majesty…” you whispered as tears formed in your eyes, you could live as long as Loki would but… what about your family?
“Your family will be included in this possible way to immortality, of course,” Frigga added quickly with a smile, “Lady Iðunn, would you please step forth?”
A beautiful woman stood from the front row of the seats and walked up to you and Loki. The woman conjured up a chalice and offered it to you before speaking, “this is wine made from my legendary golden apples. I watched your journey through The Selection and knew that you would use this well. Drink this and you will get the life of an Aesir, your family already drank theirs this morning. It’s time to join us, Princess Y/N.”
You nervously took the chalice from the lady and with a loving squeeze of the hand from Loki, you drank the contents of it. You hummed at the pleasant taste in your mouth and returned the chalice to Lady Iðunn. “I thank you, Lady Iðunn,” you smiled as you addressed her, “I promise to cherish this gift you have given me.”
Iðunn nodded and curtsied to you before returning to her seat.
Happy that everything had gone well, Loki pressed a kiss to your knuckle and began to lead you down the aisle as people cheered around you. The two of you settled into the antechamber where you had been before the wedding to have a moment alone and Loki could not look away from you. His eyes roamed down your figure and yours did the same to him. He was in his ceremonial garb with his horns in a headpiece. You could instantly see his erection through the leather of the trousers but you both knew you couldn’t consummate the marriage yet. You had to get through the ball held in your honour before that.
~~
The ball was in full swing now and you had just finished your meals so it was time for the speeches. The main table housed the best man - Thor, obviously -, Thor’s wife Elysia, Frigga, Odin, Loki and you in the middle, your mother and your father.
As best man, Thor stood and cleared his throat, silencing the room and bringing all eyes to the main table. “I thank you all for being here tonight,” he began with a smile, holding his arms out wide and grinning, “I remember when my little brother was just two hundred and pouty if anyone brought up the idea of marriage around him. Now look at him, marrying for love! Loki, my brother, despite recent events, never doubt that I love you and trust you and truly honour your opinions when you voice them. I promise to listen to you in future battles and honour your judgments. Now, I propose a toast! To the happy couple!”
Thor raised his tankard of mead and everyone followed him, drinking in honour of you and your husband. You smiled as you drank your champagne that was specially shipped from Midgard for you.
Once everyone had finished their drink, Loki flicked his wrist and they refilled as your father stood up. He was holding a written speech and his hands were slightly shaking. “Where do I start - hang on, I don’t need this,” your father spoke up with a smile before throwing the script behind him, looking down at you and then at the crowd, “I am prouder than any father that today is happening. My little Y/N had only been devoted to her job of supporting the family for years before The Selection happened. You never really saw her taking time for herself, she was always out in the fields, helping in the market and trying to find any kind of job she could to bring money back to our home for us to eat. We could see that she was unhappy but we could never do anything about it. Then her name was pulled for The Selection and our whole family was overjoyed because she could finally try to find a way to be happy. We watched her all these months and watched her form friendships, rivalries and fall in love. The girl we see today is a product of her path she has taken. This hardworking, determined, courageous woman was once unhappy and lonely and now she’s found the one that makes her shine, makes her happy and I hope she will be happy for many more years. My darling Y/N, we are all so proud of you. To the happy couple!”
You stood up quickly and enveloped your father in a tight hug, nestling your head into the crook of his neck as you heaved a sob, trying to keep in the tears so it wouldn’t ruin the makeup. “I love you, papa,” you whispered as your father’s arms wrapped around your body.
“I love you too, cupcake,” your father responded while rubbing your back gently.
~~
Everyone left the room to watch you and Loki do your first dance in the garden where a beautiful dancefloor had been laid out in gold and black slabs. Loki took your hand and gently guided you to the middle, holding your hand and your waist before guiding you into a slow dance, smiling as your skirts followed smoothly with your movements. Your eyes never left each other as you both lost yourselves to the music that was playing and you forgot that people were watching as the world became smaller and you two were the only ones that mattered. The wedding rings on your fingers glistened in the floating lights that Loki conjured for the dance. Your smiles were equally delighted as you danced and enjoyed this moment together because as the song finished and you pressed your lips to his, you felt him whisper ‘it’s time’ against your skin.
“Thor!” Loki called out after a few seconds of kissing, pulling you close by the waist with a practised patient grin, “brother dear, what is it that you usually do at weddings?”
Thor looked confused for a moment before he remembered Mjolnir and he grinned as he nodded, gesturing to the closest table and he was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet when Loki sat down with you opposite him. “May you take this blessing well, sister,” Thor whispered as he approached you and placed Mjolnir in your lap, blessing you with fertility when he did, “good luck.”
Your cheeks heated and you glared at Loki before you yelped when the Prince pulled you to him and pressed a kiss to your lips. Grabbing your hand, Loki guided you through the cheering crowd and bowed to them before leaving the party. Everybody thought that you would be going to consummate the marriage. You weren’t. You were going to free Sleipnir.
You entered Loki’s chambers and found that your valuables that had been in your chambers had been moved into Loki’s already and you smiled brightly at the reminder that you didn’t need to sleep apart anymore, you were free. You could do whatever you wanted!
Walking to the closet that was undoubtedly yours, you pulled open the doors and grabbed a black slip that would go over your wedding dress to hide it and a black cloak that would hide your features. You pulled the hood over your head and exchanged your wedding shoes for furry boots that had been enchanted to be silent when you walked. You ventured back into Loki’s chambers and saw that he had pulled a black cloak over his shoulders to hide his ceremonial garb.
“Let’s go,” Loki whispered, holding your hand and leaving through the servants entrance. The two of you managed to get out of the castle without much hassle and the streets were fairly abandoned as everybody was invited to the party to celebrate.
Getting to the stables, Loki tried the door but he could hear chains from the inside and his eyes narrowed as he held out his hand and whispered an incantation, “aperta.”
“‘Open’?” you whispered with a smirk as you heard the chains fall to the floor inside and Loki pressed on the lock and it opened with ease.
Loki rolled his eyes with a smirk before walking over to the stall that held the large stallion you had met yesterday. Sleipnir Lokison. You followed your husband and held his arm as he stared solemnly at the stallion.
“Sleipnir,” he whispered, breaking the silence with a frown and the stallion raised its head to look at Loki, whinnying happily and nudging Loki’s chest eagerly. “Yes, it’s me,” Loki whispered, caressing his skin, “I’m here for you.”
Suddenly, there was a loud crash outside and you could hear the approaching voices of guards and your heartbeat spiked. Odin would not be happy that you and Loki were stealing his precious warhorse. “Loki, we need to go,” you whispered anxiously, eyeing the door with worry.
Loki nodded and started to speak an incantation and soon, the stables was filled with black smoke. With the stables darkened, Loki turned back to Sleipnir and began speaking another incantation, his eyes glowing brilliant emerald as he broke the spell holding Sleipnir in his horse form. Once the spell was broken, the stallion’s form gleamed a bright blue before disappearing and revealing a small child - no older than four hundred - lying in his place. Quickly bundling up the small child in his cloak, Loki grabbed a spare cloak from the rack that would have belonged to the stableboy and quickly guided you out of the back entrance to the stables.
Under the cover of houses and their shadows, Loki ran with you by his side back to the palace. A warning bell started ringing in the lower town where the stables were and you looked behind you to see if anyone was chasing you before Loki tugged you to keep running and he shouted, “don’t look!” as he ran faster, a look of panic in his eyes. It was a maternal panic, a fear that his womb child would be ripped from his arms again.
You and Loki slipped through the servants entrance to the palace and suddenly, the palace that had been your home for months was now a giant obstacle course to get to Loki’s quarters without being caught. Loki kept you and Sleipnir close as he kept to the shadows, trying his best to walk silently and yet as fast as he could to his rooms. You were about to go up a staircase when you heard two guards coming up to it at the top and Loki pulled you into an alcove, one hand over your mouth as he tried to melt into the shadows. You could feel his heart racing, he was terrified.
You managed to get back to Loki’s chambers and when you did, you slammed the door and pressed the lock into place, watching the door glow green and gold before you knew that it was safe to breathe again. You leaned against the door and pulled down the hood of your cloak before covering your face with your hands and taking calming breaths. That was the most terrifying half an hour of your life.
Loki was still breathing harshly, staring down at his son with worry on his face. As soon as he pulled Sleipnir out of the bundle and dressed him with magic, he began to calm. Kissing his son lovingly on the head, Loki looked over at you with a sad smile, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” you replied before approaching him and gazing down at Sleipnir, “he’s so handsome. He’s definitely your son.”
Loki released a laugh and nodded before looking at you and pressing a kiss to your temple. “Let’s go to bed,” he whispered, guiding you to the bedroom and helping you out of your clothes with his magic before doing the same to himself.
As you both got into bed with Sleipnir between you, you were happy that Loki finally had at least one of his children back in his arms.
~~
“Do you have any idea what you have done!?” Odin boomed early that morning after summoning you and Loki into the throne room after realising that Sleipnir was taken, “you are unsuited for parenthood just yet! Your children are prophesied to bring about Ragnarok and you defied me!”
“I have a family I need to protect!” Loki bit back, his eyes lit up with power and fury as he scowled at the man that he once called his father, “I am not just your pawn anymore! I am the Prince of Jötunheim, I am a father, I am a mother, I am a husband and I am the God of Mischief! I no longer need validation from the likes of you!”
“You have no authority to that child!” Odin snapped, rising from the throne as he glared down at you and Loki, “you lost that the day you gave him up.”
“Gave him up? Gave him up?!” Loki snarled, his hands sparking with unused seiðr as he stood to his proper height, “I never gave him up! You stole him from me! You are a sick king thriving off tormenting your adopted son!”
You watched as Odin began to get closer to Loki so you stood between them. “I agree with Loki,” you began, holding your arm out to protect Loki, “Sleipnir is his son and his alone. You stole the others from him too and he deserves to have them back. If you do not give them back to him then you are a coward of a King and I pray anxiously for the day that you leave this existence so Thor can become King.”
“Do not speak to me in such a way, useless Midgardian,” Odin sneered, grabbing you by the throat and glaring at you, “I could banish your whole family.”
“No need,” Loki replied calmly, his seiðr teleporting you to his side, “I’m leaving. I will not return until the day Thor becomes King. May the Gods be merciful for your soul, Odin Borson.”
Loki grabbed your hand and stalked out of the throne room towards his chambers.
“Where will we live?” you whispered weakly, looking to Loki with a frown as you squeezed his hand, “Loki, did you even think of this?”
“Of course I did, I wanted us to have a life away from Asgard as soon as I found out that Laufey actually wanted me,” Loki returned with a smile, shrugging easily as he opened the door to his chambers to see Frigga holding Sleipnir and telling him stories, “hello, mother. It’s done. We’re leaving.”
Sorrow filled Frigga’s face and she walked over to you and Loki, wrapping her arm around Loki’s shoulder and pressing a kiss to his forehead. “I don’t want you to go but Asgard is not your home anymore, is it?” she whispered sadly and when Loki shook his head, tears filled her eyes and she whispered, “then I hope you find peace on Midgard or with Laufey. Just remember that there are people on Asgard that love you.”
“Thank you, mother,” Loki whispered with a smile, before looking to the two suitcases by the door with a frown, “will you come with us to the Bifrost?”
“I would be honoured,” Frigga responded, smiling at the offer.
~~
Once you arrived at the Bifrost, you gave Frigga a hug and smiled as you whispered, “thank you for all of your lessons, mother, I will never forget them.”
“Stay safe, child,” Frigga replied, her smile warm and loving, “it is good that you are returning to Midgard for now but Loki may wish to go to Jötunheim someday and you need to keep warm in their cold. Keep him safe.”
You nodded and once Loki had said his goodbyes, you took one last look at Asgard and all that had happened to you here before the Bifrost opened and brought you back to Brekstad, your home. Months ago, you had left Brekstad an unhappy girl who wasn’t eager to marry the Prince. Now, you were returning with the Prince as your husband and his son as your adopted child.

Series Masterlist See my full list of works here!
Summary: The team starts to speculate who The Lonely Avenger could be, and decide to watch a live stream of your first live show.
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: none, this is a fluffy story [if i missed something, let me know and i'll update immediately]
Things to be aware of: idiots in love, mutual pining, reader in denial
Tumblr media
"You all keep assuming that this is some fantasizing teenage girl in her dorm room that has a thing for the dark-haired morally questionable brother. Who would probably have a thing for the Draco Malfoys, the what was that vampire guys' name again? Damon something? Guys like that. We're assuming this is someone we don't know. Someone we've never met. I'm saying we narrow our horizons a bit."
"What are you saying, Tony? This is someone on the team?"
"No, Rhodey. I'm saying this could be someone we've worked with in the past. Specifically someone Rock of Ages has worked with before."
As Wanda walked in to the training room, hearing the men talk, a panic set in inside of her. They were narrowing down the identity of The Lonely Avenger to someone they've worked with? How much longer until they think to look into the team itself? How much longer until they looked at you?
"Afternoon, gentlemen," she greeted the pair she secretly dubbed the Iron Brothers. "You two up to no good?"
"Spitballing about who Ms Lonely Avenger on YouTube might be," Rhodes answered. "Tony here thinks that maybe Laufeyson's met her before and she developed some insane emotional attachment to him, which is why she's doing all this."
"You know what, I second this," Sam announced as he walked in. "There's something about how she sings these songs to Horns. Like there's a personal connection. Like she's confessing, not just declaring, you know?"
"Who's confessing?" More panic set in to Wanda as she heard your voice echo through the training room. "Should we ready some Congratulations banners and confetti poppers?"
"Not just yet, jellybean," Tony answered. "We don't know who she is yet."
"Wait who are we talking about again?" The confusion on your face was obvious; you truly hadn't heard what they were speaking about before you entered the room.
"The lark, darling." Wanda stifled a smile as she watched you stiffen and hold back a blush as Loki walked in and used that endearment with you. "They're trying to figure out who my admirer on the internet is."
"Oh?" you squeaked. "And where are you all at with this?"
"We think it's someone that Bambi's met, possibly worked with," Tony answered your question. "Possibly someone we consulted with for a mission? Someone in the tower? Someone he saved?"
"Someone on the team," Rhodes offered, looking quite suspiciously at you. Could he know? How could he know? All very valid questions that you can't ask without raising his suspicions, Wanda reminded herself.
"Nah, Rhodes. This one, I don't second. If anyone on the team sounded like that, we would know. Hell if I could sing like that I'd never shut up. You heard her last video? You got a voice that sweet you'd never stop singing. And if she's someone on the team, we would have heard her by now."
Wanda almost audibly sighed in relief as Sam's logic began to steer suspicion away from you. Much as you were more open with her and Nat about your secret life as a singing YouTuber, and they even cover for you so that you could record on off days and not have to stockpile as much as you used to, she knew that you weren't ready quite yet for the rest of the team to know quite yet. Who knew which one of them would slip up and mention it to Loki on accident?
"Why don't we just go  to her live show?" Peter asked from the door. "She has one tonight at Groove. 10pm. We could go there and--"
"Scare her off? Think this over, Parker. She performs, she sees an Avenger in the audience, she shuts down her channel and hides until the end of time. The smart move is to wait for people to upload videos of her performing so that we can find out who she is finally."
"I like the way you think, Wilson," you agreed with him, your casual tone giving nothing away. You sounded so carefree about this entire ordeal that even Nat would be proud if she could hear you, but at the moment she was prepping your outfit for said live show, as well as their disguises so that they could sit among the audience and cheer for you. "Tell us what she looks like when we get back. Girls' night."
Tumblr media
"Okay I have a question. You're going on this live show and you seem really confident that people won't recognize you. You're an Avenger. Your name and your face is all over the media, the internet. How can you be so sure that nobody will recognize you?"
You smiled at Nat as her concern made her brows furrow, waving an unsuspecting-looking pair of glasses her way. "Swiped it from Operations this morning, something that Stark's trying out. Basically when you wear this it distorts the light waves that are picked up by any camera pointed at its wearer. So despite all these phones and all these cameras pointed at me, nobody will be able to prove that The Lonely Avenger is really just plain old Y/N Y/L/N."
"Smart girl," she praised. "I'm proud of you. Now let's go. Try to get some food in you before you go live tonight. We can change our clothes in the car."
As if right on cue, Wanda appeared at your door. "Ready?"
"Ready," you and Nat said at the same time, taking each other's hand.
"To baby's first live show," the spy teased softly. "Thank you for inviting us to it, babes."
"I was always going to, you know," you answered. "Had you not found out when you did, I would've told you tonight. You bitches just needed to be patient," you finished with a playful shove at both of them.
You were just about to step into the elevator when a voice stopped you in your tracks. "Y/N?"
Natasha let go of your hand and kept walking toward the elevator, giving you a subtle signal to "turn around and talk to him", so you did. "Hey, Mischief." You stood still as he walked toward you. "What's up?"
"You're leaving for the night?" There was a slight motion of his hand, as if he was about to move it toward something but stopped midway.
"Erm…yeah. Girls night and all."
"You'll be safe?"
You chuckled at the question. "Loki, I'm with a master assassin and one of the most dangerous practitioners of magic this side of the universe. And even without them I can hold my own. But honestly I'd trust these two with my life even if they're drunk out of their minds. I'll be safe."
He nodded, as if mulling over your answer, and stepped just the slightest bit closer to you. "If at any point tonight, your situation becomes decidedly…unsafe…" he trailed off.
"I'll call you, I promise," you finished for him, unable to prevent a fond smile forming on your face. He may not return your feelings, but it warmed your heart knowing that he was this concerned for your safety.
A soft smile graced his features as he reached up to tuck a lock of hair currently forming a slight curtain over your face behind your ear. "Such resplendence shouldn't be hidden away," he said simply, touching your chin before putting his hand back down. "I suppose I will see you in the morning then."
"Suppose you will, Mischief." With an awkward wave as you stepped backwards toward the elevator, he turned around and walked in the direction of his room. When the doors closed on you and your friends, they looked at you with amused looks in their eyes. "Not a word. I don't even know what the fuck just happened."
Tumblr media
The temptation to seek out this place called 'Groove' as 10 o'clock loomed closer crept up on Loki that night. He knew that whoever The Lonely Avenger was, she would be performing there according to the information acquired by the Spiderling. And he was so morbidly curious as to the true identity behind this voice was as he heard her this week dedicating a song to him about how she pictured him when she would think of home.
He wanted desperately to know who she was. But even more desperately, a pathetic part of him still held on to hope that perhaps Rhodes was right. Perhaps the person behind the voice was someone on the team. Perhaps it was you.
Perhaps you returned his affection and he had made an error in assuming that you merely thought of him as a friend.
He stood up at the sound of a tentative knock on his door, surprised to find the Spiderling adolescent on the other side with a notably cautious and terrified look on his face. "Uhh hi, Mr Loki, sir. We were going to watch a live stream of The Lonely Avenger and we were wondering if you wanted to watch with us? Because you're the one all her songs are for?"
The god was taken aback at the invitation, but couldn't in his right faculties find a reason to turn down the offer. "I would, actually. Thank you, Parker." He followed the child to the common area and stood behind the sofa as a video began to play on the large screen in front of the team.
"Alright, everybody, this is the moment we've all been waiting for, but before we begin, I did get a few instructions from The Lonely Avenger herself. She knows that many of you will have your phones out, but all she requests is that if you do recognize her by chance, do not say her name tonight. That's all she asks." That was strange. The god would think that this woman would request not to have recording devices out all together if she was adamant on keeping her identity a secret.
After a few moments the common room echoed with raucous applause. She had taken the stage. But then the applause was overtaken with questions of "what the hell" and accusations that this Lonely Avenger had tampered with their devices somehow. When he looked at the screen once more, he saw that the stage did in fact have a woman on it, but her face was shrouded in a bright white spiraling halo.
"Stark…" Rogers said in a cautious tone. "Isn't that…"
"That's my tech," the billionaire finished with wonder in his tone. "She's using one of the image distortion glasses that R&D just put into testing last month."
"Hold on. Tony, that means--"
"You might be right, Rhodey. This might be someone on the team."
Y/N? Darling, could it truly be you? Loki thought to himself, indulging in the thought that perhaps you were the woman on stage, and the night you said you would spend with your friends was a ruse. That Romanoff and Maximoff were disguised amongst the audience members.
"At the very least, now we know it's someone who works in the tower. And has access to R&D," Stark finished.
Tumblr media
A/N: Keep indulging that thought, Loki, you're on the right track.

So apparently there are marvel fans that need to be slapped...welp I need something to bitch about while I wait for House of the Dragon to come back on so why the fuck not?
So...on this mornings episode of fans that need to be slapped: Some Loki Fans.
Oh I'm not gonna make any friends with this one but I think that's okay because there's VERY little in the MCU that I care about (really only Moon Knight and maybe Dr. Strange...).
Anyway...
Let me just start this off by saying if you're a loki/mobius shipper or a loki/sylvie shipper who dumps on either side's ship, congrats, you're officially an asshole!
"Oh I'm SaD tHaT mY sHiP iSn'T cAnOn, BuT aT lEaSt YoU dIdNt GeT wHaT yOu WaNtEd EiThEr!!!!"
*slaps, clean in the face, Back. Of. The. Hand!*
Congratulations you're a fucking asshole! There's your prize!
What the hell even are you? Five years old? You're fighting over ships like they're fucking toys instead of, gee, I don't know, FICTIONAL. FUCKING. CHARACTERS! Get a fucking grip, seriously.
Grow. The fuck. Up.
This bullshit right here is what's killing Fandom right now. It's not the lack of support for artists, but the Fandom is tearing each other down over insignificant bullshit that doesn't even fucking matter. Do you really have nothing going on in your life to the point where you have to shit on things other people like? You realize that makes you a bully right? Is your life seriously so fucking boring that you take delight in this childish nonsense? God's I can't wait for some of yall to hit your 30s so hopefully you'll see what an idiot you were...
Because look, no matter whether you ship Loki/Mobius or Loki/Sylvie, here's a little truth nugget for ya. Come here, I'll whisper it in your ear...
NEITHER OF YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED!!!!!!!!
Happy now?
Congrats, all of you should be/are fucking miserable. All of you should be pissed and burning the showrunners in effigy! I know I fucking would if I thought this shit mattered that much.
And I don't wanna hear any bullshit about how "Oh well sylki is wrong because self-cest" or some bullshit. I don't care. Keep your bullshit ass "morality" out of Fandom. I've said it many times on this blog and I will continue to say it: Fandom activities DO NOT determine one's morality. Use. Your. God. Damn. Brain!
And even if you wanna play the stupid morality card: well wasn't mobius apart of an organization that was actively against the free will of everyone in the MCU? Like seriously, he's not that innocent either. I don't know the dudes backstory and I don't care to know it, but in my eyes thats a little fucking worse in my opinion.
Look the point is, neither of you guys got what you wanted, the ending was disappointing, and this is why I don't watch most TV anymore. Ever since the ending of GoT, happy endings in media have become increasingly rare. I'm beginning to wonder if they're even really allowed anymore at this point. I'm sorry but I really think the Loki Fandom needs to come together and support each other rather than tearing each other down over nonsense that doesn't even matter and kicking each other while they're down is seriously shitty behavior.
Because seriously, that shit is why people are leaving Fandoms and actively killing them.
Anyway yeah, you guys needed a slap and a big fucking reality check. Peace and love, I'm out peeps.

Heartbreak is a devastating feeling. It can tear you apart, piece by piece over years until there is nothing left but a hole that they used to fill, or it can crush you in seconds, stealing your breath and your happiness in one fell swoop. But what makes it even worse is when you don't realise you were in love until it’s too late.
Loki had never experienced heartbreak before, he had never known the feeling of true and unconditional love until her. But now as he looked at her dancing with another man, he knew what it felt like, and the worst part of it was that it was his fault.
He forced himself to turn away as the man’s hands traveled down her back to grip her wide hips tightly, pulling her plump body into him. He watched as she gasped but accepted his actions, her own arms winding around his neck to draw his lips closer to hers.
It was a simple favour she asked of him, one that she could only trust her best friend in the world with. “Can you pretend to date me so I can make Lincoln jealous?” Lincoln, her next door neighbour that she had a massive crush on. There hadn’t been a day gone by since he moved in where she didn’t talk about how pretty he was, how sweet and funny, how undeniably sexy. And Loki didn’t mind saying yes, she would have certainly done the same for him if he wanted to impress someone he wished to woo.
But somewhere along the way, in between the less than platonic hugging, the bouquets of flowers he had delivered to her apartment every Thursday, the kisses on her cheeks that slowly got closer and closer to her lips, Loki found himself believing their lie. That she was his and he was hers.
Then, yesterday morning, they ‘broke up’ and Lincoln came to her rescue, easily taking her into his arms and comforting her. Loki woke up today to a text that made his stomach turn with an emotion he couldn’t recognise. ‘Lincoln asked me out! I owe you big time!’
Her Instagram story confirmed she was going on a date. The red dress that clung to her generous curves like a second skin, paired with black stilettos that made her ass look incredible was proof enough that she planned to seduce the man she was pining for and all Loki wanted was to drown himself in liquor.
And of course he just had to pick the same bar that they went to. His heart dropped as she pulled her new beau to the dance floor with swaying hips and dark eyes. He knew what that meant and it was killing him. Why now? Why did he have to realise that he was stupidly in love with his best friend when she was getting the thing she truly wanted and could make her happy?
He left without getting a drink.
——————
Y/N was getting worried. Loki hadn’t texted her in days. She knew he was ok, he had been active on Tumblr and Insta but whenever she called him, it went straight to voicemail. Her last straw was when Thor mentioned that his brother hadn’t left his apartment in days, getting him to do his grocery shopping so he didn’t have to go out.
The trip to his flat went by too slowly for her liking. Every second that passed was like torture, she couldn’t help but imagine everything that could have happened to him. Her heart pounded loudly in her ears with each step up his building. She didn’t bother knocking, knowing he would probably refuse to answer if he knew it was her.
The apartment was darker than usual with his black out curtains drawn and the lights off save for a few candles scattered about the place. It was like walking into a funeral. An air of grief and despair hung heavily over the room like an early morning fog.
“Thor, I have already told you, I am not leaving. I am content to stay here until I see fit.” His melodic voice was raspy and sounded disused, as if he hadn’t spoken for days. “It’s not Thor.” She called back.
Loki emerged from the darkness and she gasped. His pale face was gaunt and haunting, with almost bruise-like dark bags under his blue eyes, it was apparent he had not slept for at least half a week. His black hair was greasy, haphazardly tied up in a fashion that was so unlike himself. “Why are you here?” It came out as a snarl, a tone he had never used with her before.
“You haven’t been answering your phone.” He scoffed, turning his back to her. “I didn’t think you’d care.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She followed after him into his bedroom, determined to know what was going on. Loki didn’t even look at her, only returning to his bed much like a petulant child would after a tantrum. “Leave.”
Y/N crossed her arms over her ample chest and glared down at him. “I can’t leave knowing you’re angry at me. You know that.” But he didn’t answer. “Loki, what’s going on with you? Have I done something to make you upset?” The mattress dipped as she sat at the foot of it, placing her hand a few inches from his long legs.
“Loki please.” She begged. “It’s nothing.” He murmured, pressing his face into one of the many pillows by his head. “It’s obviously not nothing for my best friend to stop talking to me.”
“Friend.” He spat out the word like it was dirty.
“All right seriously, what the fuck is happening? Do you not want to be friends anymore, is that it?” she huffed, thoroughly confused and hurt for her best friend.
“Yes.” He hissed as venomously as he could, yet he still refused to meet her gaze, terrified of the emotions that swirled in the depths of those e/c’s.
Y/N’s breath hitched and she felt her through tighten with tears. “Loki.” She said his name so softly, filled with so much concern and hurt, it made his chest ache. He could feel his resolve crumbling, wanting to spring out of bed, tell her it was just some cruel joke and go back to how they were before.
But his heartbreak was too much and he knew that it would destroy him even more to have her so close but so far away, to watch her fall in love with someone else as he was trapped in her orbit, destined to burn out and self-destruct.
“Y/N, just go.”
“Just tell me why, you owe me that much.”
“I don’t owe you anything!” His rage burned brightly as he rose from the bed. “I don’t owe you anything because I have already given everything to you! My heart, my soul, my love, my happiness. All of it is yours and yet you still want more!”
Y/N stopped breathing as he continued to speak, tears building up in her water line. “I am yours! I have been yours for years, since the moment we met! I have never asked for anything in return but now I am. So please, please leave me. Do not hurt me even more.” She had only seen Loki cry once before, when his mother had passed away. But his silent sobs all those years ago were nothing compared to this.
The blue of his irises stood out against the bloodshot red of his eyes, shining in the low light of the room. His body trembled with sobs as he desperately begged her to listen to him. She couldn’t move, both terrified of how hurt her best friend was and what he was admitting to her.
“If you have any kind of love for me, leave.” He pleaded. Long arms curled around his lanky torso as a sort of comfort, his gaze dropping to the floor.
His body sagged in relief when he heard the bedsprings creak as Y/N lifted herself from the mattress. Tears still rolled down his slim cheeks, wetting the old sleep shirt he had not taken off for days. A soft touch against his sharp jaw made him gasp, his eyes shooting up.
Y/N stood before him, her own cheeks wet with tears. “How can I leave knowing that the man I love with all my heart is in such pain?”
Tentatively, she took a step forward, their bodies now pressed together in a way that they had only dreamed about before. And when Loki didn’t move away from her, Y/N allowed her other hand to cup his other cheek, slipping away his tears with her thumb. “Loki, you are my light, my life, the air I breathe. I have wanted to love you for years yet was too scared to tell you and for that, I am sorry.”
His cold palms held her wide hips, squeezing gently, like he was making sure this wasn’t all some cruel dream his mind conjured up. “I never wanted to hurt you but I have. I will do whatever it takes to make it up to you.”
“Don’t see Lincoln again.” He whispered, lowering his face to her own, blue eyes fixed on her lips.
“I’ll find a new place to live.” Her voice was a mere murmur, breathy and sultry.
“Tell me you love me.” The tips of their noses brushed together.
“I love you more than anything.” Their lips were almost touching.
“Kiss me.”
As their lips finally met in a long overdue kiss, the shattered pieces of their hearts sewed themselves together, tangling in each other. The torn edges smoothed over with true and unconditional love, glued with care, never to be broken again.
