Hi I just discovered your blog (why have I never seen it before it’s amazing!) and I was wondering if you only do Marvel art. I saw somewhere you mentioned doing Supernatural art but I’ve only seen your marvel stuff so far. Your Order of the Avengers AU was phenomenal and I’d love to see it expanded to other fandoms hero’s like the Justice League or X-men or something (only if you had fun making it and would like to). It’s just so unique and I’ve never seen that idea done with the detailed yours has. But if your done with it that’s totally ok to! I love your work, you are incredibly talented and I hope you know that! I hope you have a great day!
P.S. If you have any head-cannons/stories behind some of the clothing choices or other details that you wanted to share I would love to hear them!
Hi ^^
Thank you so much for your very nice message about my art in general and my The Order of the Avengers series in particular. It's very kind of you ♥
Hi I just discovered your blog
It's never too late to join the party! Welcome and I hope you'll enjoy what is coming next! 🥳
I was wondering if you only do Marvel art.
No! 😄 I also draw Supernatural artworks, I drew TONS of them in the past but as I have been focusing much more on Marvel in the past 7-8 years, my Spn artworks are buried in the depths of my Tumblr. However, I drew a couple of new artworks after the Spn series finale (HERE and HERE) and if you want to see some of my old stuff, may I recommend you this one , this one and this one.
However, I'm working on two new portraits of Sam and Dean that should be posted very soon (next week I think). Exactly like in my Avengers series, we are going to step back in time (but it's a bit closer to us, though 😄)
Your Order of the Avengers AU was phenomenal and I’d love to see it expanded to other fandoms hero’s like the Justice League or X-men or something.
I'm so sorry, I'm not really a fan of DC. I mean, I enjoy the movies, a couple of comics or cartoons from time to time but my knowledge of canon is not super developed, I'm far more comfortable with Marvel, particularly with the MCU. As far as X-Men are concerned, even if I loved movies like X-Men First Class and that I really hope they are going to keep Fassbender as Magneto, I'm waiting to see what the MCU is going to do with them before drawing anything.
However, I want to do more medieval inspired characters like The Guardians of the Galaxy for instance, so more to come when it comes to Medieval stuff but no DC and no X-Men (I'm sorry😅)
If you have any head-cannons/stories behind some of the clothing choices or other details that you wanted to share I would love to hear them!
You are going to laugh:
Peter, who is the epitome of kindness was inspired by Mordred in the movie Excalibur (I know it doesn't make sense because his armor doesn't even look like the one of Mordred but I had the image of an evil little prince when I drew him).
Bucky is a fighter but he's also a healer and has tons of medicine in his various bags and satchels. Not for him. For Steve, because he's a reckless idiot.
Loki is constantly told by his entourage that he's spending far too much money for his armors, outfits but also entertainment but he's high-maintenance, deal with it guys. 😎 (hence the super extra armor)
Sam shares a lot of his thoughts with his falcon, mainly that he's surrounded by idiots and that he's not paid enough for this sh*t. That's why Red Wing seems 100% done too: he's not paid enough for this sh*t either.
Scott's ant is a deadly weapon. Nobody realized because it looks cute with his tiny shoes and its ruffled collar, but once everybody saw it on the battle field, it became clear that it wasn't just a cute pet.
Natasha is the most mysterious member of the Order, nobody knows about her past (except maybe Steve). To add to the mystery, she loves spreading completely crazy rumors about herself including that she can kill a man just by kissing him or turn into a dragon during the full moon. Sam, Steve and Bucky are more than happy to confirm every crazy sh*t Natasha comes up with.
Tony...is still Tony. He loves building stuff, and inventing crazy machines that wander into the castle. He keeps on telling people not to pay attention but it's hard not to freak out in front of a giant mechanical armor that walks on its own. --- He also enjoys entering into "dick contests" with Strange on a regular basis and teasing him that what he does isn't "real magic" (even after seeing everything Strange was capable and muttering "Not bad..." 😄)
Tumblr media
This pic is making more sense than everything I wrote above but...for me, it's very clear, I swear. 🤓
I hope I answered your question, thanks again!

Marvel Pride
So, I plan on doing this myself, and I thought I'd let others see it so they could do it too if they so choose (you should tag me if you do it because it would be fun to see other people's responses). If you really want me to tag you in these for some reason, let me know! So here's what I'm gonna do every day of the month!
1: What is your sexual and romantic orientation, and what is your gender and pronouns? This is a fun way to start because this can be connected to other questions! If you aren't comfortable answering this, please don't! As a back up question, what are your plans for pride this year?
2: Who are your favorite canon queer characters? Not many are confirmed in the MCU, and those that are aren't confirmed in the movies, but the comics have plenty of queer people!
3: Which characters do you headcanon as queer?
4: Who are your favorite queer characters? Confirmed? Headcanoned?
5: What line(s) have special meaning to you because of your queerness?
6: What are your favorite ships with at least one queer or headcanoned queer character? Not necessarily a "homosexual" relationship because bi/pan/omni/ply/ace/aro/abro/trans people can be in a straight passing relationship but they are still queer, and I want to be inclusive of those ships.
7: If you ship any queerplatonic relationships, what are they?
8: Which character that you headcanon is queer do you want Marvel to confirm the most?
9: Do you have romantic/sexual/queerplatonic/etc crushes on any of the characters? If so, who? Bonus question to honor Loki's release: if you headcanon Loki as queer, what sexuality/romanticism/gender do you specifically headcanon him as? Or did, if he is confirmed queer this first episode (I doubt it, but you never know).
10: Were any of the Marvel characters your sexual awakening? Who?
11: What is a queer headcanon you don't actually headcanon but would be funny?
12: Do you have any fun ways of celebrating pride that relate to Marvel? What are they? Show us pictures if you'd like!
13: What storylines/arcs do you relate to because of your queerness?
14: Do you ever feel like you project your sexuality on a character and question if you actually headcanon it or are just desperate for representation? If so, who? And, well, you might be projecting, but there's nothing wrong with that. Go ahead, make your favorite character the same as you. No one's gonna stop you! Have fun!
15: Has there ever been a character(s) that you adored for a long time, and then you realized you were queer, and you realized that was why you liked that character so much? If so, which character(s)?
16: What do you think the characters that are confirmed queer or you interpret as queer would do for pride?
17: If you could come out to any Marvel character, who would you come out to?
18: Lots of characters wear colorful things! Put some Marvel characters together to make some pride flags for yourself! You can either show us fanart, copy and paste pictures/gifs of them in that order, or just tell us the order and the costume.
19: Which Marvel character would be the best cishet ally?
20: If there were a group chat of all the queer Marvel characters (including those you headcanon as queer), who would constantly spam with quality queer memes?
21: Which characters do you think would come out and be overtly queer, and which ones do you think would be more shy about it or stay entirely in the closet?
22: What is the biggest pet peeve you have in relation to the Marvel fandom(s) and the LGBTQ+ community? (Things like being annoyed by fetishization of queers or complete denial of queerness or heteronormativity or allonormativity or a compulsion to make things romantic or discrimination you've face, stuff like that).
23: If Marvel were to confirm a character as queer, what would be your biggest fear? Your biggest hope?
24: Who is your comfort character(s) in regards to queerness?
25: What sort of pride apparel do you think the characters would wear/have, if any?
26: If you were scared because you were in an area hostile to queers, which character would you want to be at your side to wreck anyone that dared touch you?
27: What harmless stereotypes do the queer characters fall into? Things like wearing flannels or sitting oddly, that sort of stuff.
28: Do you have any queer jokes relating to Marvel? If so, please share.
29: Do something artistic in relation to Marvel and the LGBTQ+ community. Drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry, calligraphy, photo editing, music, whatever you'd like! Share with us what you did!
30: Did you have a good, fun, safe pride month? Did you enjoy this fun little thing? As for Marvel, what sort of representation would you like to see someday? And, if Loki does end up being confirmed as queer by now, what did you think?
I hope anyone that does this has fun! If you are interested in seeing what I do with this, I will be titling all of mine "Michelle, Marvel, and Pride." And I can tag you if you so desire. But tag me if you want to do this if that's alright with you, I'd love to see other people's thoughts. And if any queerphobes take this as an opportunity to spread hate, you will be blocked.

So, this post. I'm genuinely tearing up over it.
I don't quite know how to articulate why but I'm going to do my best because I think it's important. I'm going to be rambling (venting?) about LGBTQ+ issues, POC issues, and fandom. All that will be under the cut.
This is...vastly more personal than the stuff I usually talk about. Keep that in mind, please, along with how I don't mean to shit on any individual by discussing my own experience.
As a bisexual Asian person (specifically Pinoy) there's not a lot of representation out there for me. Even just as a bi person.
I'm happy about Loki from Marvel, obviously, but I've never been big on the MCU. I love and adore Laurent Thierry (be gay do crime dammit), but I'm not big on The Great Pretender either and it doesn't seem to get confirmed in-universe. I'm also not a Steven Universe or She-Ra fan--they're just very much not my type of show. Jesper Fahey came very close but he's specifically stated to be pansexual, which is its own, distinct thing from bisexuality, and he's also not from Six of Crows' fantasy Asia. And god knows anime as a whole doesn't really do anything beyond the heteronormative.
I guess you could say I'm picky about my representation. I've spent a long time resigning myself to the fact that I will never see a character I can identify with in major media, at least not in their entirety.
And it's...pretty hard to see myself represented in the LGBTQ+ community in the mainstream, either.
Mainstream LGBTQ+ is predominantly white. The prevailing message of what "bisexual" is, at least for afab folks, is "I'm attracted to every woman and like, two men!" which, yeah, is valid, that's the whole point--multisexuality comes with gender preferences half the time. And there's a whole bunch of stuff attached to the new bisexual stereotype (clear phone cases, cuffed jeans, big eyeliner, plus some other nonsense).
[Don't even get me started on how the nonbinary "ideal" has gotten to become "thin, afab, white, and androgynously dressed" because that's only tangentially related, but I'm mad about it. I hadn't wished I was white in years until I caught myself mourning how I'd never look like The Ideal. Fucking stereotypes ruining my track record of self love.]
None of that is me. I'm a POC who skews a lot closer to the "attraction to men" side of the scale. I'm kind of out of touch with the stereotypes within the community and the ones outside the community are fucking gross.
Does this make me any less a bisexual POC?
No! Obviously not!
It's still frustrating.
On top of that, bisexual representation in media is shit. It's shit, as it is with any marginalized identity, but god it's just so shit that I didn't think there was a single character in media that I related to.
And then came Wei Wuxian.
He's loud and he takes up space and he's opinionated. He uses NSFW humor for shock value. He's passionate about shit that other people think is weird. He fucks up a lot.
And he's bi, with a preference for the opposite gender, and I'm tearing up again just thinking about it.
Here's a character who's like me.
We're Asian. We're bi. We've got similar neuroses. I don't know how the hell to articulate how fucking much it meant to me to see a character like this, who is so similar to me, and see him be a part of popular media.
I don't know how I can possibly articulate what it's like, being a POC and LGBTQ+ and growing up like that, with a dearth of anyone in mainstream media that I could relate to. How do I talk about what it's like, knowing my straight friends have no shortage of comfort characters? Knowing my white friends have no shortage of comfort characters? And being quietly furious about this for years, but anger is effort and anger is painful to hold on to, and so settling into a sort of tired resignation.
And here's the thing. There are definitely still people out there like me who are still suffering through a dearth of comfort media. A dearth of media that sees them, pats them on the shoulder, and tells them that hey, stories about people like you are worth reading. A dearth of media that says they have lives just as interesting and compelling as someone white and cishet.
I'm one of the lucky ones.
And that boggles my fucking mind, that I'm lucky to only be a teenager when I read about Wei Wuxian and for the first time, felt like I existed in the eyes of popular fandom.
I don't know how to end this, so I'll just say that representation fucking matters. And it's near-impossible to articulate why it matters, to articulate the deep frustration of growing up without it, and so I see a lot of people dismiss how important it is. I'll just go back to sobbing over Wei Wuxian wearing ribbons in the colors of the bi flag now.

Someone just posted that they see MCU canon Steve as bisexual but the idea that MCU canon Tony is bisexual is ridiculous.
I mean, really? That is such a hypocritical viewpoint.
Firstly if we look solely as canon both are straight.
If we are scrounging for breadcrumbs, then Tony is the one who is affectionate and flirtatious with people of both genders. Tony is the one with the promiscuous past where it’s implied he experimented. There is a real tension and hint of something more in the scenes between Tony and Loki, whether you see it as a battle of egos, or a deep seated animosity or romance is entirely up to you but there is definitely something electric about that scene. By contrast his relationship with Bruce is soft and relatively insecure with more touching than most other characters get who interact with him. Then again in the scenes between Tony and Stephen Strange in Infinity War we get a similar type of tension to the one’s with Loki in Avengers Assemble. They mirror each other very closely. The character Tony interacts with who most supports the theory that Tony might be bisexual is Justin Hammar. The implication is that they have known each other for years and in their scenes to my eyes they have the kind of love/hate chemistry that would be really unhealthy if it were turned into an actual relationship. They never state that they could have had a fling or been in a relationship, but the behaviour is not unlike two exes trying to one up each other by how well they are doing now.
It certainly isn’t conclusive, but there are enough breadcrumbs there to justify a headcanon. The person he has the most chemistry with is clearly Pepper who is amazing, the love of his life, and who has killed 12% of all the villains in the MCU so is arguably the most successful superhero too. This is why he marries her. While Tony is definitely not gay, you don’t stop being bisexual because you are in a monogamous relationship with someone of the opposite gender, so it is possible for him to be a bisexual man married to a woman. It is a little squinty to see Tony as bisexual, but only a little.
Whereas with Steve, I just don’t see it. Honestly the way he’s played by Chris Evans he comes across as either asexual or straight, because he was clearly in love with Penny in a romantic, let’s grow old together way, and later he had a real chemistry with Natasha. Again like the Loki/Tony and Bruce/Tony scenes I think they are written without a romantic pairing in mind, but there is a chemistry there, especially in the scene at Sam’s house in TWS and in Endgame.
The two people Steve is most often paired with in fandom are Bucky and Tony, and honestly having watched the films several times I have never seen anything that indicates Steve having romantic feelings towards either of them. I think people paired him with Bucky because it was convenient. If you look at the first avenger, from the very first scenes Bucky is acting like an older more responsible, less rash older brother. He takes care of Steve in an older sibling type way, and as the film continues and Steve matches/surpasses Bucky physically that dynamic evolves in the same way sibling dynamics do between adolescence and adulthood to become more equal. Not to mention they’ve been acting like brothers since they were very tiny, and if you act like siblings with someone, regardless of whether or not you are related to them, often you develop the same aversion to seeing them in a sexual way as with blood siblings. It’s why siblings who have never met are more likely to be attracted to each other sexually than adopted siblings. Another relationship in the MCU that is similar to this in terms of the sibling dynamic being portrayed really well is the one between Tony and Rhodey as well as the Thor and Loki relationship.
There is so much Stucky content out there that I have really tried to see the romance in the pairing so I can enjoy it. I have rewatched the films and read some of the fanfiction but the pairing just feels like incest to me and it squicks me out.
With the Steve/Tony romantic angle. I never saw it from either side. I don’t think either character saw the other for them self instead of the bundle of expectations they had until fairly late on. I don’t think we saw Tony develop a real relationship and respect for Steve until Age of Ultron where it seemed established, even if we saw flashes of it from Tony’s side in the scene when the helecarrier was being attacked in Avengers Assemble. I don’t think there is a scene where Steve speaks to Tony with the respect you show another human being until Endgame. Without that level of connection there can’t be a romantic connection.
Honestly I think there is more evidence in canon for Steve being asexual, but not necessarily a romantic than for him being attracted to men. With his aversion to going on a date and his continued attraction to a woman who had completely moved on and was so impaired by dementia that it would be difficult to have consensual intercourse. The discomfort with which he reacts to Natasha when she kisses him in public or when she pretends they’re engaged at the Apple store could be because he sees her as a friend, because he has feelings for her that he doesn’t feel comfortable expressing, or because sex makes him uncomfortable and he isn’t interested.
Again, in MCU canon both men are straight, but if we’re analysing details for hints of other sexuality’s, there is a possibility that Tony is bisexual and a possibility that Steve is asexual from what we are given in canon but both are a long way from having enough info to confirm. Steve as interested in men just doesn’t quite seem supported in the original material to me.
I think sometimes if you consume a lot of both canon and fandom material it is possible to merge the two in your head, to the extent that the character you see doesn’t bare a lot of resemblance to the one shown on screen or in the text. I think this might be what happened with particularly Steve being shown as bisexual a lot in fandom, because people have consumed a lot of content and created a lot of headcanons around it when they rewatch the films they apply their “knowledge” from fandom and either see what they want to see or get cross their preferred pairing isn’t obvious in the film, or the sequels.
TL;DR both characters are straight in canon but there is more justification in terms of breadcrumbs for Tony being bisexual than Steve.

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 63)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:4309
Warnings: Lift in spirits for reader, a year after the snap,feelings exposed again, arguing, angry Tony, Bruce vs. Tony, fighting, a change in life, surgery/transplant, happiness and fluff for the OFC. life goes by for reader,looming darkness, Song for this part: Is there somewhere - Halsey Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

It was the following morning that you ran into Remy on the way out of the hotel, just outside the doors.
“Didn’t expect you to still be around, not after my killjoy session last night.”
“Oh, don’t take all the glory. You aren’t the soul reason for all the heartache going around,” he assured jovially.
You stopped and turned to face him. “Remy, I know what you’re trying to do, and I appreciate it, I do. You’re trying to act like everything is okay, or that everything is gonna be okay, and I know that’s just your nature. I know you don’t want to seem down, but you’re going to have to, for me. I left because of the optimism. I don’t have it in me, okay?” you begged softly, grabbing his arm and squeezing. “For me, just… dwell in the harsh reality. Think of me as misery and you’re my company, alright?”
He nodded, a sweet smile on his face. “Alright. I’ll stop with the cheerful talk.”
You thanked him and the two of you began walking to your first sight to visit today. “And besides… it is my fault. It’s all my fault.”
“Oh, come on now,” he started, scoffing and you threw a daring look his way.
“No, it really is. I was out on the battlefield. I should’ve been there to stop Thanos. Instead, I was too focused on everyone else. I wanted to make sure they were safe. By the time I realized Thanos was here, it was too late.”
“Cher, I don’t think you could’ve taken him alone,’ he offered gently. “You said he went up against Cap’n Rogers, Romanoff, Banner--”
“Right. All mortals. Wanda slowed him down, tremendously. Thor nearly killed him the first time. Can you imagine what I could do? I’m Thor and Wanda and you rolled into one. I could’ve killed him. It might not have been easy, but if someone had my back, made sure I didn’t get interrupted, I could’ve done it.”
“I think you’re bein’ a little hard on yourself.”
“I think you’re being ignorant to the facts,” you retorted.
He sighed. “Well that may be, but it doesn’t change the fact that when the snapped happened, you were the first person I thought of.”
“That so?” you challenged, keeping your eyes down to the ground. “Why didn’t I get a call then?”
“I figured you’d be busy. I wasn’t sure about you and Loki, or Shannon. I wanted to check on you, but if things were bad, I didn’t want to come barging in. Besides, we had the mess at the mansion to take care of. I couldn’t just drop all that. I wanted to but…”
“No, I’m glad you didn’t. I was busy. I was busy trying not to fall apart, trying to be there for Shannon, in the small capacity I could be anyway.”
“It seems we found each other at the right time, then.”
“Found each other? You tracked me across the globe. It’s not exactly a coincidence,” you reminded, a touch of humor in your voice.
The two of you set off then, quietly. You went all around the city. Remy took photos for you and of you, so that you could focus on the beauty here and now, be in the moment. When nightfall happened and you started walking back to your hotel, you began talking. It was nice to have someone to talk to.
“We had all these plans, you know?” you started suddenly. “I don’t know how to live without him. Here or back in New York. he’s been such a huge part of my life, my every day life for years…”
“I bet that’s hard.”
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to live through,” you admitted.
With that, he wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you in close as you two walked.
-----------------------------------
Things had begun to die down for what had happened. You were still missing and that didn't stop Shannon from continuing her search. At some point she and Tony had left the compound and had gone to find a peaceful place to start a new chapter in their marriage. It was time to start a family. Everyone had gone their separate ways so it was only natural that they wanted to bring some happiness to this point in their lives.
Bruce had come to terms with the fact that Shannon wouldn’t be leaving Tony anytime soon but that didn't stop him from confessing his feelings. Things had gotten heated after that, seeing as when Bruce said those words Tony had just been walking in. This created a fight. They ended up going a few rounds and Shannon had ultimately had to use her powers to rip the men apart from each other.
“You two are acting like savages, this needs to stop!” she growled, holding them both back. “Now, Bruce, you know I’m married to Tony and I love him very much and yes I do love you too but, I’m not sure there’s something that can be done.” She turned over to the other man. “Tony, what in God’s name is wrong with you?! He’s your friend, not some stranger.” She lets them go and huffs. “You two need to figure this out, okay? And no more fighting.”
She walked away and both men walked off to the bar and had a long talk about what would happen.
“Listen, Tony I never wanted to get to this point but I love Shannon just as you do and I would never do anything to hurt her.” He holds his drink up to the cut on his eyebrow. “I know this isn’t conventional but would you be willing to have a polyamorous relationship so that I can be with her?” Bruce hoped that the other man would agree.
“I gotta say Bruce you have some courage to confess your feelings to a married woman, but my wife!” He shook his head. “I mean I kinda knew you had those feelings from when you had been helping her at the mansion, but I’m not sure if I can be okay with that type of situation and it’s not up to me. It’s up to Shannon on whether or not she wants that.” He refilled his glass. “I’ll have to talk with Shannon and then we can all sit down to figure this out.”
“See, I didn’t think I would get this far.” He sighed. “But you’re right, Shannon should be the one who decides.”
Upon returning to the compound, the three sat down and talked about what would happen next. She agreed to open up the relationship to have her husband and now, Bruce, her boyfriend. Once it was all decided, the next thing that happened was having the cabin built to accommodate the three of them and the potential future.
Life was as normal as it could get for Shannon, Bruce and Tony they’d all found a way to make their relationship work. Who would be with Shannon which nights and things like that. One thing that was a major change was that after searching she was finally able to get a uterus transplant. Which would come to bring a change in their life with the hopes of her having a child.  There were dozens of attempts after her body had accepted the new organ, but to no avail was she able to get pregnant right away, needless to say they didn’t stop trying. There had been a point where Shannon believed that she would never be able to get pregnant but she was pleasantly surprised when she took a home test and it had come out positive. She had done her own at the tower’s lab to confirm what the test had said. Knowing that she was finally able to carry her own child was the best moment she could live through. It was nearing the end of October and she hadn’t figured out how to tell him yet but she knew she’d figure it out.
It’d been about a year since Y/N had left and the search for her still continued. She also began to see which X-men still remained. The one person that she hadn’t thought would survive would be Wade Wilson, formerly known as Deadpool.
Shannon figured he’d be a good bet if any in finding you.
“Come on, Wade, pick up the phone,” she mumbled, waiting for the phone to stop ringing.
A second later on the other line all she heard was, “Shut it, tin balls, I’m on the phone! Hello?”
“Hey, Wade, it’s Shannon,” she said. “Are you busy?”
“Well, hello there, Mrs. Stark. What a pleasure.” He mocked formality. “I’m pretty free, what’s up?”
“I was hoping we could  meet,so we can talk about this in person.”
“Sure thing. Send me your coordinates and I’ll be there soon. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!” And with that the call ended
About half an hour later there was a knock at the door. Bruce had gone out for a jog and Tony, like always, was hiding in the garage working on who knows what. Which gave Shannon the perfect timing to talk to Wade.
“Coming!” she yelled from the kitchen. She grabbed a hand towel and wiped the water off them and opened the door. “Hey, Wade, come on in.” She moved to let him in.
“Aww what no hug?” He stood there with his arms open. “Whoa wait! I see that glow Shan, are you pregnant?” he teased.
“Hush, Wade, I haven’t told Tony yet!” she pulled him further into the house and peers out to the garage making sure her husband hadn’t heard. “Now what’s with the suit what happened to you being comfortable around me?” she motions with her hand.
“Listen here, lady! No one tells me when I can and can’t wear my suit!” he exclaimed.
“You done with the tantrum?”
“Uh… no, but anyways how’s it been?” He leaned in closer. “Besides the bun in the oven?”
“Haha funny, it’s been going good with my life but that’s the reason I called you.” She headed towards the  living room and he followed. “Everything is going good but one part. My best friend, well more like sister, has gone off the radar and I haven’t for the life of me been able to find her and at this point I need someone like to be able to go out and bring her back for me. Considering--” she points down at her belly. “--once I tell Tony he’ll definitely be against me going out to look for her.”
“And what would I get out of it?” He got serious when he heard the reason why. “Normally there’s a contract that gets written up and a price given but since it’s you, Shannon, I’m going to work something different out.”
He sat there for a moment just thinking of what he could potentially get from them. He didn’t really need much. Until a lightbulb lit up since becoming Deadpool he knew his chances of having children were down to zero and with his friend being pregnant he’d like to be in the kid’s life somehow. “Alright so here’s how it’s going to go. I’ll do you this favor in exchange for two things.” He held up two fingers.
“Just two things?” she repeated. “And what exactly are those two things?”
“Great question!” He got giddy. “First, I’d like to be part of that kid’s life.” He pointed to her stomach. “And second, I’d like unlimited chimichangas and not the crappy kind, you guys got the money for the good stuff.”
“Okay first of all why the heck would you want to be part of MY child’s life? And second, okay we can do the chimichangas.” She shook her head.
“Well ever since I became DP I came to realize that I will never get the chance to have my own kids you know?” His voice lowered towards the end but it was enough for her to hear.
Knowing the reason behind asking such a thing pulled at her heartstrings because she knew what it’s like, knowing that there was a chance she could never be a mom. Granted, Peter Parker was hers biologically but was done through surrogacy.
“Okay, Wade, I know what it’s like to be in that position. You can be their god father, okay? And occasional babysitter, how’s that?” She hoped she could complete part of his life like this miracle baby had done for her. “So it’s a deal then, when can you start?”
“We can go over the specifics later, for now just enjoy this moment and let me know if you need help planning the reveal to the hubby.” He leaned closer to her.
“Of course, Wade, thank you.” she leaned her head on his. “You have no idea how much this means to me.”
From then on it had been Wade being around constantly and getting on Tony’s nerves but he knew why and it broke his heart to see his wife like that. Between all of that they all got to see how the wonders of Shannon became a mother to their daughter Morgan. Then during their fifth year since the snap, she had gotten serious with Bruce as well and even though she couldn’t marry him through the church, she figured she could at some point later on. They did agree on having a child, so she gave it a shot with Bruce. They had gotten more than they could have asked for, not only was she pregnant again, but this time with twins. It equaled out to two children with Bruce and two with Tony.
-----------------------------------------
One Year Later…
After three months all over the world, you’d seen and done everything you could possibly think of, with Remy right by your side. Part of you felt guilty, having him there. The other part was so thankful that you weren’t going through this alone.
When you finished, you had no idea where to go, no direction. When the snap happened, a small part of you hoped there was a way to find Thanos and bring everyone back. When that hope died out with Thanos, you could go see the world in Loki’s honor. Then, when that finished, you had nothing left. You still couldn’t return to New York. You weren’t in any mindset to be around Shannon and everyone else.
“Well, that’s it,” you said with finality as you looked down at your phone, checking the list. “We’ve done everything.”
Remy smiled down at you. “Wow. Time flies, right? What next?”
“I have absolutely no idea,” you admitted as you stood, staring out over a river. “I’ve never felt this way before… Directionless. Even when I was in prison, there was a plan. Hopefully one day to get out, but even then I knew at least I’d be in prison the next day. But as of this moment, I don’t know what I’ll do in twenty seconds. It’s a bit unnerving for me.”
“What do you say we… well… settled down?” he asked carefully.
Your face whipped to him, surprised. “Settle down? What do you mean?”
“Well I don’t imagine you wanna keep jumping from country to country,” he surmised, putting his elbows on the railing.
“No, I don’t,” you agreed slowly.
“Then I suggest we take this somewhere permanently. Maybe… start to rebuild our lives. We’ve lived in the past, maybe it’s time we start looking at the future.”
“I don’t know…” you started, looking down and shaking your head.
“What’s got you hesitatin’, cheri?” he wondered, standing to put a finger under your chin to force you to look at him.
You sighed. “I’m not sure I know how to move on.”
“I’m not asking you to move forward, or to forget him, or forget anyone. All I’m saying is to make it easier on both of us. I know I’m a hell of a lot happier when I’m around you, and despite your initial complaints I think you like my company.”
You nodded.
“So maybe...we find us a place, and start to live again. It might be easier to focus on healing if we aren’t acting as if we’re on the run.”
You sighed in agreement. “You’re right… but where would we go? If we stay in one place too long, Shannon will find me.”
“Maybe,” he said with a shrug. “Maybe not. How about we go home? Maybe she’s already looked there.”
“Home? Like…” you asked, prompting him with a questioning look.
“Like New Orleans, darlin’.”
And that was how he easily convinced you to follow him. The two of you found a house slightly out of the way in New Orleans. It wasn’t in the country, but it was private enough that you weren’t in a neighborhood with prying neighbors.
Remy picked up a job as a bartender, and when he wasn’t tending to the drinks, he was playing cards for money. As for you, you found a job in healing. You worked with a mobile clinic that went to a rather large area due to the snap, the patients were widely spread out. It was nice, to give back, to help heal people, when you’d caused so much heartache. Your job was to use your electrical powers to keep equipment from failing. Sometimes you were at the hospital, other times you joined nurses on the road. It was an odd interview, but these were trying times and they didn’t turn their noses up at your request.
If you weren’t working, the two of you were building a home together. The two of you had found pieces of art you loved, began to buy dish sets, furniture. You didn’t have too many momentos, either one of you to go through, but it made it nice. None of it was anything you had to be reminded of, to try and hold back some form of grief. You two painted every room in the house you’d bought. You’d hand selected wallpaper, paint, decor, everything. You weren’t sure if you were doing it as a distraction or what -- but it felt like life was starting again. You two even cooked together most nights, trying out recipes on each other.
Now, it’d been a year since the snap. No word to or from Shannon, but you were sure she was doing fine. Remy had called Logan a couple of times to check on the mansion, but no new students had shown up. Despite missing the vanished and those you left behind in New York, this was as close to happy as you could get.
-----------------------------
One night, you stopped in at the bar Remy worked at, to help him close up.
“Hey, there,” he greeted with a wide grin. “What can I getcha?”
“Just a coke,” you answered. “How’s business been?”
He worked on getting you your drink as he answered, “Kinda slow. But that gave me a chance to do this new trick.”
“Oh? Can I see?” you asked somewhat excited. Remy’s tricks were always something you loved, even as kids. It was a way to be entertained, to make you forget about the other ugliness in the world, and you supposed he was doing that again this time around.
“Sure thing. Let me get it set up.” He reached under the bar for a second, making you curious. ”Alright, so I’ll draw ‘em in like this,” he explained as he leaned over, looking handsome.
You nodded. “Mhm.”
“Then, I’ll do a little ol’ razzle dazzle with the hands,” he continued slowly as he made meaningless motions in the air before making his fingers dance around a space on the bar. “And abracadabra, alakazam…”
Then as if it materialized in thin air, there was a red velvet box on the bar and your heart began pounding.
“Now you may be wonderin’ what’s inside that there box. I’ll show ya.” He opened the box before glancing up at you with a grin. Inside the box was a stunning, unique ring. ”Y/N, will you do me the great honor of--”
Thought escaped you though. The sight of that box. Remy’s words. They catapulted you to that day on the battlefield with Loki. Every emotion of grief and loss slammed into you, taking breath and thought with it. All you could do was grab Remy by the edges of his silk vest and kiss him to get him to stop talking.
You couldn’t hear another man say those words to you. It felt so wrong. So utterly wrong.
You hadn’t kissed Remy once or even done anything remotely romantic together. In all reality, you were just two roommates. You did everything together, you lived together, had outings together, but you never kissed, held hands, slept in the same bed… Nothing was romantic between you two.
Remy sank into the kiss easily before you let him go. You couldn’t hide the tears streaking down your face but you did your best to hide the thickness of your voice.
“I think maybe… maybe we should take things slow, at first, you know?” you offered easily. You didn’t want to lose Remy, he’s all you had. But you couldn’t give him what he wanted.
“You mean like, actually courtin’ each other?”
“Precisely,” you agreed with a nod and smile. “Then we can talk marriage. What do you say?”
“I say that sounds like a plan,” he responded before leaning over to kiss you again, slower and more tenderly.
---------------------------------
So life went on like normal, for another year, the only change was the romance. It seemed a small price to pay to not have to hear another marriage proposal or pledge your commitment to him. It wasn’t that there was anything wrong with Remy. It just felt like a betrayal of every level to promise yourself to Remy when Loki didn’t get that chance.
To an outsider, this was domestic bliss. You two looked, seemed, and acted happy. You tried to be anyway. But every day was a battle. Even after two years, he was the first thing you thought of when you woke up and the last thing you thought about before you drifted off.
Remy was patient and kind. He never tried to erase Loki’s memory. Never mentioned putting his pictures away, or tried to quiet you when you brought him up. He understood how much he meant to you and he didn’t want to ruin that.
But on the inside, you were hollow and empty. Remy and your life provided excellent distractions. You loved helping those in need, and you loved having your friend around. He kept the majority of the darkness at bay.
You couldn’t hide it anymore though. This cookie cutter life wasn’t cutting it. Not anymore. You had so much sorrow and anger pent up in you. No closure, no answers… you still blamed yourself for the snap, for not killing Thanos properly. You still wanted Loki back. You missed Shannon and the Avengers but you couldn’t be around them. Ultimately, you were living a lie with Remy. He thought you were moving on, falling in love with him, letting it all go, but you weren’t. You were just as broken as the day Loki vanished. No part of you had healed or moved on in any way.
He didn’t deserve this.
So you packed your things, not leaving a note, about to head out the door in the middle of the night before his voice stopped you
“Where ya goin’?” he asked.
Damn, you mentally hissed. You didn’t want him to see you leave.
Your hand was already on the door knob. “I’m leaving. I think it’s best...for both of us.”
“Well thank you for makin’ my decisions for me,” he sarcastically said as he sauntered up behind you.
“You know what I mean. You deserve someone who isn’t broken like I am. Someone who can give you their whole heart.”
He moved himself to be in front of you, cupping his hands on your face. “Chere, I never asked for your whole heart. I don’t expect it. I just wanna be here for you. I love you and I want to see you happy. I don’t wanna be with you so that you can love me back. Ideally, sure, but realistically…” He let the idea hang in the air. “I just wanna to be with you, is all. Now where were you plannin’ on goin?”
“I’ve got a talent for making others hurt, I was gonna put that talent to use. To be honest, I have a lot of pent up rage I’d like to get out of me.”
“I see,” he said with a bit of sorrow.
“I don’t want you to see me like that, either.”
“I told you years ago I found you to help protect you and keep you safe, now whether that’s from yourself or others you plan on going after, I still believe it,” he vowed. “I’m comin’ with you.”
“Why?” you breathed, confused.
“Because I love you, and I want to be with you, whether we’re baking cookies together for Christmas or off doing whatever it is you’re about to do. I’m with you -- always.”
You smiled at him, sadness filling the expression. “I can’t stop you. If you want to come… We'll go.”
‘Alright. Give me some time to pack, and we’ll go.”
Roughly an hour later, Remy was ready to leave with you. Something in you told you he shouldn’t come with you, whether it was for his safety or so he didn’t see what you were about to turn in to, you weren’t sure. But the bigger, more selfish part of you allowed him to come.

Tumblr media
The next morning, before dawn, you were out of bed. You started a new simulation to try and find Thanos. While the simulation ran, you went outside to practice. Shannon was right, even if you did find Thanos, what then? You needed to practice, to train. So that’s what you did.
Your powers were like Wanda’s and Remy’s combined. You were born with the ability as an Asgardian goddess to charge potential energy and launch it. The mind stone had given you electrical dark energy that you could launch from yourself as a bolt of energy, or use it as an extended limb, like Wanda. Using the dark energy, you could fly. Using the electric part of your energy, you could electrocute things, like Thor. You learned illusions and trickery from Loki. By all stretches of the imagination, you should be the most powerful one in the room at all times, save for Shannon who could absorb any power, not to mention her natural healing power.
But being powerful meant nothing if you didn’t know how to use it well. So for the next twelve hours straight that day, you practiced. You learned how to create a shield around yourself using your purple energy. You learned how to send shockwaves through the ground like Thor. You practiced charging objects and throwing them, as well as creating powerful energy shots and launching them. You practiced flying. You hadn’t done much of it since the New York attack and you wanted to be sure that you felt comfortable doing it.
Shannon left you to it, knowing that you wouldn’t want to be bothered, but Steve checked on you. He asked what you were doing and if you needed help. You explained you were gearing up to fight Thanos and you didn’t want Steve to get hurt. He didn’t say much but nodded and left you alone. Natasha watched you and she wanted to say something, offer something, but she didn’t know how. You two weren’t close at all. You liked Natasha, by all means, but she didn’t know how to comfort you in something like this, so she let you grieve the way you needed to. Bruce felt sorry for you. He desperately wanted to help you. He felt he could take anything you threw at him, but his concern was with Shannon and finding Tony. Bruce and you were a bit closer, and he understood better than most the healing factors isolation and being alone could have. Thor… well you and Thor could hardly stand to look at each other. You’d lost the same thing, and you both felt responsible. You didn’t blame him, and you hoped he didn’t blame you.
You didn’t fault any of them for not coming to see you. You knew they all had their own grief they were dealing with, their own personal missions. This was yours.
This became your new routine. Rising at early hours, running tests to see where Thanos might be, running scanners for him using the stones again, then you’d set out to practice your powers until late at night. You were at least sleeping now and eating at least one meal a day. It wasn’t ideal, but it was an improvement. You logically knew you couldn’t fight Thanos if you were malnourished and tired.
------------------------------
A few days after Shannon had visited you that night, she didn't feel like being at another one of those meetings with the faces of the vanished and seeing Tony’s and Parker’s faces. There’s only so much she could take. So here she was in bed hiding under the covers with Lucky being the little spoon. When there had been a few light knocks, she hoped they would leave her alone.
“Hey,” Bruce said softly as he poked his head in. “I know you probably want to be left alone, but I think we should all be together at a time like this. I also brought you something to help calm your nerves.” He held up a small tray with two cups of tea. “It always keeps me calm.”
“Thanks, Bruce, but I think I'd rather stay here in bed with Lucky.” She came out from under the covers. “There’s no way I’m going in there and see Tony’s or Parker’s face.” She shook her head.
He nodded as he sat the tray down. He rubbed his hands nervously before stuffing them in his cardigan pockets. “Yeah, yeah, I get that. It’s hard to see his face. I told them to take their faces down because we don’t know if--” He stopped himself, choosing his next words carefully to not upset you further. “Well we don’t know what’s happened to them, if anything. Hell, you know Tony. He could be on his way here, right now. He might’ve just wound up a place a little bit away from here.” He tried to add cheer to his voice.
“Bruce, thanks for trying but I can feel how uncertain things are until we find out more.” She took the cup of tea from the tray.
“Well isn’t that just it? Things are uncertain, so don’t lose hope, okay? If you lose hope, all we have is Cap. I mean his motivational speeches are great and all, don’t get me wrong, but we need you… I need you.”
“But what can I do? I’m not Tony or Steve. They both have things I cannot be or give so what now?” She put the cup back. “I just need someone to take over and be the one in charge for once”
Bruce nodded. “I don’t know how or if that’s gonna happen, sweetheart. Nat might. You know they all look up to you. It isn’t to pressure you. You don’t need to be anyone but you. Your optimism and quick thinking is what gets us through. You’re the glue of this team, don’t forget it. But… I understand if you need a break. Steve, Nat, and I can take over for a bit. At least until we hear something on Tony or Peter…”
 “That would be great, really, I don’t know what I would do without you, Bruce.” She touched his hand and she became so overcome with his emotions that she shed a tear. “I’m so sorry, Bruce. I didn't mean to get in tune with your emotions, that power has been really strong since that day.”
“Hey, first off, don’t apologize to me, ever. Secondly, of course it has been. You’ve lost a lot and you have no idea what happened to Tony. Your power of emotion is bound to go haywire. Besides, I don’t mind you having a peek at my emotions every now and then,” he stated, almost sheepishly.
“Is that a hint of a blush I see?” Shannon joked, putting her hand on his cheek feeling how warm it got and was getting hotter by the second. “I don’t mean to pry but I felt a few things when I touched your hand, mind telling what they were about?” She looked at him seriously.
“Shannon,” he started uneasily, “you already know what it is you feel,” he said softly.
“It’s one thing for me to feel a person’s emotions, it’s another thing to know what or who they are directed to,” she calmly explained. “If this is making you uneasy we could change the subject,” she suggested. She partially knew but she wanted him to confirm her suspicions.
He rubbed his neck, feeling more nervous and awkward by the second. “Damn, I never wanted to do this. Let alone while Tony’s...well... missing but...Ah, damn. Shannon… I’m in love with you. Alright? I know the timing is terrible. I know you’re married. I should’ve said something before, but you’re so happy with Tony, and he’s my best friend and I didn’t want to ruin any of that. I can’t hide it anymore though. With the way the world is now… I think it’s now or never, you know?” He peered at her, guilt, hope, worry, and relief all rolled into one.
“Umm… wow, I... I don’t know what to say Bruce—” She got quiet for a bit processing what her friend had told her all that time ago at the mansion about Banner having feelings for her. She didn’t think that it was true. “I’m flattered that you feel this way about me, Bruce...and I know we’re in a spot that’s between a rock and a hard place but until I can know for certain what’s happened with Tony, I don’t think I can act on this.” She placed her hand on his, feeling his emotions and tried to not let them confuse her. She knew she had always had a soft spot for the man but she married Tony and she couldn’t betray him like this. What if he comes back… no, she needed to stop thinking.
“You’re right. That’s why I didn’t want to tell you. I never wanted you to know. I never wanted to put you in any position of choosing him or me. Just… with things the way they are…” He shook his head. “Just think on it? I’m not saying we need to do anything now or anything soon at all. Just… give it some thought.”
“This is my fault. If I hadn’t felt your hand we wouldn’t be in this situation but you’re right we ca—” Just as Shannon was about to answer the man, you walked into the bedroom, making the two jump apart and causing the dog to look up.
“Shan, I want--Oh, I’m sorry,” you said quickly as you watched your best friend and Banner break apart rapidly. “I didn’t mean to interrupt. I can come back later,” you offered, already making your way toward the door.
“No! No, that’s fine, Y/N you can come in. Bruce was just trying to convince me to go to the meeting, which by the way you're late to.” She waved you in and then pointed to the time on the clock. “You know Steve is probably looking for you, you better go.”
“Right,” you agreed uneasily. The energy in the room felt off. “Yeah I think we should go, don’t you, Bruce?”
“Huh? Uh. Yeah. We should get down there.”
You eyed him for one more moment before you and he walked down for the meeting, leaving Shannon to think in her room.
———————
You knew Steve, Nat, and Shannon had been watching the pager that Fury left behind. It was constantly paging something or someone and they wanted to find out who. You had to give it to them. They never stopped. Steve and Nat, no matter how broken they were or devastated, they stuck to the mission, the cause -- to get back what we’d lost.
But you couldn’t do it. You just didn’t have it in you anymore. The fight was gone. All you had was finding Thanos, and you had no idea how long that would take. Each passing second you didn’t find him chipped away at your soul, but this was all you had. It was your only hope, your one shot at maybe getting Loki back, getting everyone back, so you had to do it.
Thor...he was beyond pissed. He felt that it was his fault. For the first few hours after it happened, he just kept muttering, “What have I done?” “It’s all my fault”. Some tiny part of you wanted to believe that. You wanted to blame this all on Thor for not aiming for his head. Or blame Wanda for leaving Vision. Or blame Shannon for not fighting harder. Blame anyone, everyone. Someone had to be at fault, right?
But the fact of the matter was, it was your fault. Wanda fought like hell to get to Vision. According to Steve, she held back Thanos (with five of the stones on his hand) with one hand and killed Vision with the other hand. Wanda was only human, her power forged from the mind stone and she was nearly all powerful.
But you? You were a goddess of Asgard. You had the physical strength of Thor, the born powers of bio-kinetic energy, and your purple electric energy was granted by the mind stone. There probably weren’t many out there stronger than you -- but you couldn’t get to Thanos -- at least that’s what you kept telling yourself.
This was your fault. If anyone should’ve been able to kill him, it was you. Wanda, with even less power than you, was able to hold him back successfully. Thor with his new axe could battle the stones and kill him with brute force. There wasn’t one reason in the world you couldn’t kill him.
You should’ve let Nat and Okoye take care of Proxima. You should’ve abandoned the battlefield and waited for Thanos. You should’ve been by Vision’s side and not Wanda.
If any one of those small things had changed, maybe this all would’ve been different.
You heard footsteps approaching and you tensed. You didn’t want to speak to anyone. You hardly ever did. It was almost as if talking would break you. You were lying in bed after a day of training just wishing for some good news.
“Y/N?” Shannon’s soft voice filled your room and you slightly relaxed. “Someone is here. A Carol Danvers? She may be able to help.”
You furrowed your brow before rolling over to get up. You padded down barefoot in your pajamas, your hair unbrushed, but you frankly didn’t give a damn.
Thor, Steve, Nat, Bruce, and Shannon surrounded a blonde woman you’d never seen. Or they faced her at least.
“Y/N, this is Carol. She’s…” Shannon started to explain then it seemed words failed her.
“Long story short, I’m here to help and I’m a friend of Nick Fury’s,” she spoke, filling in the gap.
“So what are you doing here?” you asked, all animation gone from your voice except for a slight wonder. Your hands were stuffed in your hoodie pockets.
“We think she can help find Tony and the rest of them,” Steve stated.
“So you guys said he was in a spaceship? What’d it look like? I can try to track it.”
“Titan… He was going to Titan,” you interjected.
“You’re sure about this?” Steve questioned.
You nodded. “When I was his slave, he talked of his home quite a bit. If Ebony Maw took him and Strange… And he sent Proxima and Corvus to Earth then chances are he wanted them to meet him back on Titan.”
“He told them that,” Thor concurred. “Just before he blew me up with the power stone. He told everyone to meet him on Titan.”
“Alright. I’ve got a starting point,” Carol said with determination before she started to walk away.
Shannon stepped in front of her. “Please, bring Tony back to me. He… I…” But that’s all she could get out before she started to sob. You took a step closer to her and wrapped her in your arms. You gave a look to Carol that granted her permission to leave.
With that, it seemed as if a tinge of hope filled the atmosphere, at least for the rest of the Avengers. Not so much you… well, not you at all.
You walked Shannon back to her room and now it was her turn to grieve. She’d been holding it in for so long, you thought that maybe the idea of hope now was maybe sending her over the edge. If she hoped for Tony and Carol didn’t find him, or worse, found him dead or one of the vanished then she would be crushed. But if she didn’t hope then she felt like she was letting Tony down.
“What if she doesn’t find him?” she asked as she got into bed and you pulled the cover up around her.
“Don’t talk like that,” you gently ordered. “We can take some solace that at least someone out there is looking for him.”
 ------------------------------------
It’d been two weeks since Carol showed up and there was still no word back if she’d found Tony or not. Shannon had taken to going outside to look for signs of a ship or refreshing her texts to find out anything. She’s on the verge of giving up. She knew she shouldn’t but this feeling of being useless was getting to her. She’d been seen walking around in Tony”s unwashed shirts and hoodies and some shorts around the compound. No one had the heart to tell her anything. She knew they all pitied the situation.
From her phone she heard Tadashi. “There’s still no signal reaching the transponder, Mrs. Stark.”
“Thank you, Tadashi, please keep searching.”
“Will do, Mrs. Stark.”
While she sat on top of the compound, on the roof, a door shut behind her suddenly. She was going to turn to see who it was, but he spoke quickly, letting her know who it was.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I had no idea you were out here,” he apologized. “I can leave you alone if…” he let the offer hang in the air.
“Hey there, big guy, there’s no need. I”ve been out here alone for too long, keep me company?” She looked up at the man. “Unless you came out here to be alone then I’ll go somewhere else—” She started getting up.
“No. Hey, I interrupted you. Sit,” he gently ordered. He came over and sat beside her. “I thought I’d come out and see… well see if there was any sign of… you know. Had to get some air from trying to find Thanos.”
Shannon flinched at the sound of that name. She didn’t know if she would ever be okay from all of this. “Yeah it’s been heavy with everything lately. Had to leave that building or else I knew I’d end up fighting someone.” She leaned on him taking in his scent of herbal tea and mint. “It’s nice out here, helps clear the mind.”
“That it does,” he agreed looking at the sky. He then dropped his gaze to the rooftop. “Shan… I know I said I’d let you think on this. But.... It’s been two weeks now and… I don’t know. I thought maybe… I just wondered if we don’t hear anything about Tony… in four months, would you want to try a date? If I’m right, I think you feel similarly to how I feel about you. It’s a compromise. I can’t go on wondering, and you shouldn’t go on feeling guilty or wondering if or when you should move on.”
Shannon hid her face inside the hoodie she was sporting and took a deep breath thinking of Tony in that moment. “Well you’ve never been wrong about anything before, I do love you too, Bruce, but I’m still married to Tony…” She looked up at the man. “But if in four months there’s no news from Carol about...you know… then yes I will try going out on a date with you but you have to promise me that I’ll get time to mourn.” She had looked down at her hands fiddling with her ring.
It felt wrong to even be talking about Tony as if he was already gone, as if there was no hope, but Shannon could see with some clarity that these were dark times. Times where every moment was precious and she couldn’t spend it always wondering and holding out hope that may be wasted. While she adored Tony and loved him with every fiber of her being, she also knew she loved Bruce, and had for quite some time. She didn’t see a reason or purpose to rob herself or Bruce of a potential future in a world where futures seemed rather bleak.
“Of course,” he assured. “I’m not trying to get rid of Tony or gloss over your love for him. I know you love him, I know you love him more than me. I just… I don’t want to waste any more time, for either of us, if we can be together. I’ll give you all the time you need. I just needed to know that there was even a chance for us or if… well if I needed to move on.”
“Oh, Bruce, I’m sorry for putting you through all of this.” She had moved to face him properly. “Thank you for being so understanding of this. You’ve been such a stability for me these past two weeks.”
“Of course,” he vowed as he held her tightly in a hug.
---------------------
You were still searching, running calculations, practicing, strengthening... You showered at least, and Shannon forced some soup down you a few times. She said she couldn’t have you dying along with everyone else. You didn’t want to break her heart any further so you ate it, and again, you remembered nutrition was important to your mission.
No news had come from Tony or anyone he might have been with so you dwelled on your anguish. Much to your surprise but not Shannon’s, Steve stopped in to see you. He asked how you were but all you did was start crying - you couldn’t help it. You hated it, you hated him seeing you like this, but at this point, what did it matter?
When you finally gathered yourself, and Steve was rubbing your back soothingly as you leaned over your lab desk, you finally turned your head slightly to face him.
“Steve… I’m so sorry for Bucky and Sam. I hope you don’t hold yourself accountable. You did everything you could. Hell you did more than most.”
He bobbed his head, as if he were wagering whether or not he really did. “I appreciate that. I’m sorry about Loki and Strange.”
You nodded, not wanting to verbally acknowledge them. You knew you couldn’t without bawling, so you just nodded. “And I haven’t said it before, but I’m sorry about New York,” you emphatically said, changing the subject slightly. It’s something you’d wanted to say for a long time.
He waved it off with that all American smile at first but you shook your head.
“No, I’m serious. I’ve never apologized about New York to you and I want you to know it’s something that has haunted me every day. I hope you know that you, Shannon, all of the Avengers… you’re all my friends, you know? Loki… Loki and I, we were brainwashed and if I could take all of it back, believe me, I’d give about anything.”
He nodded, his smile more sincere and sweet as he slowly closed his eyes, his hand still on your back.
“I know, Y/N. I know,” he assured. “I forgave you a long time ago. Both of you. Speaking of things we’ve never said. I don’t think anyone has ever made you an official member of the Avengers, but I’d like you to know I consider you one. You’ve been one since Ultron.”
Your gaze softened on him before you pulled him into an embrace. “Thank you,” you breathed.
------------------------------
Shannon had entered your room. It was late, which meant most of the Avengers had gone their separate ways for the evening. It seemed the only time you two could speak was late into the night, probably because you were both obsessed with searching during the day and they were precious hours.
“Y/N/N,” she started solemnly, softly as she sat on the edge of your bed, her eyes on her hands. “It’s been twenty days since… since Thanos… And Tony, Carol… They aren’t…”
“Shannon, you can’t--” You swallowed. “You can’t give up hope. If you give up then I have nothing, okay? Do you hear me? Nothing.”
“I know, but it’s getting so hard since--”
Just then, a rumbling cut her off. The two of you looked at each other as it got closer and louder. After a few seconds, you two realized it might be Carol, so you threw the covers off yourself and you two began running outside. Once you looked up, it was easy to see what had made all that ruckus. A rather large spacecraft was being brought in by Carol. As soon as the craft was sat down, the hatch opened, exposing a very weak Tony leaning on a blue woman. Steve rushed forward, going to Tony’s aid.
You couldn’t believe what you were seeing. You finally felt some semblance of happiness. Tony was alive. Thanos didn’t kill him. He didn’t vanish. He was okay… That could mean that…
But you stopped yourself before you let the thoughts run too wild.
Shannon ran forward to greet him. The two fell into each other’s arms, embracing, kissing briefly. The image sent a surge of warmth through you as well as seething jealousy. Of course you were happy for them. You were thrilled, honestly. But it was hard to be happy for her when you’d lost everything.
Everyone was concerned with Tony’s return, as they should’ve been. Bruce got him hooked up on fluids, Shannon had given him a shower, Steve helped find him some clothes. Everyone agreed that he needed to rest, as did Carol and Nebula before anything was discussed.
None of this was said to you though, because as soon as Tony arrived, your emotions ran wild, forcing you into your room. As soon as the door closed behind you, you broke down. You knew Shannon wouldn’t leave Tony, not tonight, not for you, and she shouldn’t have to.
But you couldn’t help it. This was too painful and somehow… somehow you were bitter and resentful over it all.

Baby Bump
Pairing: Loki X Reader
Tumblr media
Words: 1575 (Ao3 Link) MCU Masterlist written for @sugarwastaken
Tumblr media
You had gone through your first trimester and now you were showing. The small but noticeable baby bump delighted you with joy. It meant so much more to you and your husband than people knew.
Loki had been under mind control when he attacked New York. After reconciling with his brother, he proved to everyone that he was no longer the villain, but hero in his own right. It caught your attention and your heart. You were only a low-clearance data shield agent then. Why on Earth would a god notice you?
Oh, but he did.
He liked the way you tied your hair up if you did anything important. He liked the way you laughed. How a million giggles bubbled up in his stomach every time you did laugh. Loki started to pull pranks around the compound just to see you laugh. And when you did, Loki felt himself melting. He knew he had to have you.
He was nervous when he asked. His fingers fumbled and he stumbled over his words.
“Good afternoon, Ms. Y/N. I-I was wondering…you know just a thought…and I was hoping if you were free this evening. You can say no! No wait-I mean, if you were busy then I would understand, but I hope you’re not busy. Not to say that I think you’re lonely! I just-I wanted—
“I would love to, Loki,” you smiled. And that was it. Four years later, Loki and you had a home to yourselves, married, and were expecting a child together. It had been a long road for both of you. You straightened out your flowing blouse and cardigan and set out to work.
Loki and you never carpooled anymore. You were bound to a set schedule. Loki was not. However, that all could change soon. When you arrived to the office, Maria Hill answered to you.
“Ms. Y/N. Data from our Mexico Unit has come back. Fury said he wanted you to look it over,” Maria said.
“Good. Because he would do it wrong. He didn’t name me as Head Data Analyst because I had two eyes,” you teased.
“I heard that,” Nick greeted both of you in the main control room. Screens around the world displayed the public and their doings. Several analyst sat in their seats combing through data, sound recordings, and images. Nick Fury put his hands on his hips. “Is that a baby I see there?” “It is,” you admitted. You held your hand over the bump. Nick Fury came over to you with a grand smile.
“I suppose it might be time to talk about your maternal leave soon, hm?” Fury suggested. Before you could get another word in, you heard a certain someone come squealing to you.
“Y/N!” Tony Stark hugged you tightly. He took a long look at your swelling stomach. “I gotta say. You look good pregnant. I didn’t think I would be attracted to a pregnant woman before.”
“Watch it, Stark,” Loki warned. Your husband strutted to you and kissed your temple. He gave Stark another dirty look. “That’s my wife.”
“Chill, Reindeer Games,” Tony held his hands up. He glanced back to you. Without moving his stance or hands, Tony spoke to you. “Pepper wanted me to confirm if she was planning the baby shower or not. She really, really wanted to.”
You nodded. “Of course she can. But, you’ll have to tell Natasha that. Not me.” Your husband escorted you away from the control room. Both of you went down the hall and towards your daily data collection from an avenger. Or at least, that’s what both of you officially called it. Both of you only wanted to sneak away to catch up on your own.
“You alright? You seemed uptight in there,” you asked.
“How are you feeling? Is the magic working? Did you throw up at all this morning? Do you feel sick? You look tired, sweetheart.”
“I’m fine!” you laughed. “Are you okay? Why did you look at Tony like that?”
“I didn’t like the way he spoke to you. You’re not his sexual object.”
“He was only messing around.”
Your day continued with more data coming in and out. Your eyes longed for a break at lunch. Your eyes lit up when you saw Steve sitting and binging a new show. He ate away at a giant sandwich.
“Whatcha watching?” you greeted him, sitting next to the famous avenger.
“How I Met Your Mother,” Steve told you in between bites.
“Ah, up to the early 2000’s, huh?”
“No, uh, I’m taking a break from the 80’s. A lot of cheesy shows and heartbreak there,” Steve nodded. He paused the show on his tablet and politely turned to you. His eyes landed on your belly.
“You can ask,” you told him.
“I can touch? You’d let me?” Steve said. You nodded and Steve’s hand ran over your belly. Joy spread across his face. A moment of silence passed and you saw a quick flash of sadness before he replaced it with joy again. “I’m happy for both of you. I really am. I had my doubts about Loki, but seeing this…wow.”
“Thank you. What about you? Did you ever think about having children?”
“Yes and no,” Steve started. “I fell in love with a girl during the war. I imagined what our lives would be like together. I saw everything. The bells, little shoes, wrinkles in her face. Ten I woke up eighty years later.”
“You would make a wonderful father,” you told Steve, patting his hand. Steve covered your hand with his.
“Both of you are going to be incredible parents.”
“What do you think you’re doing?!” Loki exclaimed. He rushed to your side once more, pulling you to him. You pouted at Loki’s sudden actions and struggled against him. Loki held you thight against him, giving murderous eyes to the patriot. “Why were you holding my wife’s hand? Hm? Seeking comfort in your lone—
“We were having a moment,” Steve said. “Nothing more, nothing less.”
“A moment?” Loki’s anger rose. “Y/N is to be the mother of my child. She is my world, and you dare threaten that with your own selfish—
“Loki, it’s alright. Steve was just telling us congratulations. He thinks you’ll be an excellent father. That’s all.” You turned back to Steve. “I am so sorry. I really am.”
Steve gave you a half-smile as you both went on your way. The day went on, and Loki wouldn’t stop staring down people and or letting anyone even touch you. Loki drove you both towards IKEA after work to get ideas for a nursery. You jumped out of the car and Loki held you close to him again. He kissed your temple as you both made your way inside the large building, then you saw a very familiar brother-in-law who was more than excited to be an uncle.
“Loki!” Thor hugged his brother tightly. “You know, I always thought he would have a child before me. He was always better with girls than I was.”
“Are you kidding? Gilrs loved you,” Loki laughed.
“While that might be true. You kept them around longer.” Thor caught an eyeful of your belly. “You’re showing!” Thor bent down to touch your belly until Loki smacked his hand away.
“Loki! Quit it! It’s Thor! Your brother!” you yelled at him. “What is going on with you?” “Y/N, I’m sorry, but—
“Go cool off in the bathroom, please,” you pleaded with him. With a huff, Loki stormed off into the bathroom. Thor frowned and then looked at you.
“Is everything alright? Has he been in a mood all day? You know how he is with his moods.”
“No, well yes, I don’t know. Every time someone came close to me or tried to touch me he would yell at them and stare them down with these Ramsay Bolton eyes until they cowered away.”
“Ramsay Bolton? Oh! That nasty character from that show you both like!” Thor laughed. “I don’t know why you would compare the two. Loki could kick his ass. And I would love to watch.”
“Thor—
“Sorry,” Thor looked at his brother returning from the bathroom. He looked tired and dejected. “You do remember he is a Frost Giant, right?”
“What does that have to do with his behavior?”
“When Frost Giants become pregnant, it is usually the male species that becomes territorial. Loki is only protecting you and your child because of instincts and genetics. Not jealousy.”
You let out a long and slow ‘Oh’. The thought didn’t even occur to you. That would explain why Loki built and entire fence around your yard in one day. Loki grabbed your hand gently.
“I’m sorry. I have been awful today, haven’t I?”
You kissed his cheek and shook your head. “Thor told me that you were only doing what was in your blood. I can’t blame you for that.”
“She also compared you to Ramsay Bolton,” Thor mentioned. The three of you entered the store. Loki scoffed.
“Him? Out of all the Game of Thrones characters you compare me to him?! I could wipe the floor with him. Mad dog.”
“See? I told you,” Thor laughed. Loki’s hand glided over the baby bump.
“I thought I could have been Robb Stark at least.” Loki told Thor.
“No, no. You’re not Robb Stark. You’re more like Arya.”
“Arya? The girl with the knives? Oh yes,” Loki laughed.

Fiance in secret - Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Title: Fiance in secret
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x Reader, Loki x Reader
Warnings: None
Prompt: You’ve been dating, and got engaged, to the man you loved more than anything in secret. Being costars with him in numerous movies and having so many fans ship you is one thing. But when you can’t help the dirty inuendos and flirting during interviews with the God of Mischief, for lack of better words, things can escalate very quickly even in public.
Tumblr media
“Welcome, welcome (Y/n) it's so good to have you here for... like the milionth time this year! You must be so tired of seeing me, I bet you are 'Oh that guy again? Seriously, I have to pretend I like him once more?' am I right?” Conan joked and you couldn't help a giggle as you greeted him.
“Oh by no means, Conan, you know how much I enjoy coming here and having an interview with you But even more crashing your interviews of my friends!” you grinned, giving Tom a warm hug and getting a tender kiss on the cheek by him before he scooted and let you sit on the armchair closest to Conan's desk, who with a chuckle nodded his head.
The audience 'aw'ed at the two of you and you both grinned “Ever the gentleman, isn't he?” you looked at them as they all cheered in agreement.
“I sure hope so, but even if you don't, then let me tell you one thing: You're a great actress!” the audience along with you laughed at his pun.
“Why, thank you Conan!” you looked at the host who got comfortable in his seat again.
“Speaking of- of acting, we were talking with Tom about you it is such a interesting coincidence how you happen to behere because youre great friends and even more, costars in the newest Avengers movie and-” he paused when the crowd cheered loudly “And it is not your first one!”
“Why yes, we really have- we have scored a good number, haven't we? Including Night Manager too.” you glanced at him and he fixed his glasses, nodding his head.
“I believe-” he licked his lower lip in thought – and oh dear Odin you got distracted for a good moment – which of course made him smirk when he caught your eye but that was yet another part of the big secret called your relationship and you both enjoyed it a little too much “I believe five, five not including the Marvel ones.” he nodded his head before a classic grin formed on his lips “Oh and they've all been great fun!”
Of course, considering how especially during Crimson Peak and the Night Managed you shared some intense sex scenes, there was no doubt your fiance – or at least fiance in secret as you loved calling him – had great fun just letting his feelings out and enjoying every single take you had to do.
“For a second there I don't know if it's Loki talking or you, Tom.” Conan narrowed his eyes as the audience laughed.
You giggled “Trust me, Conan, it is just impossible to tell if he's let the God of Mischief out or it is all him.” you looked at him, smirking and this time he couldn't help but laugh at your words and the clear but hidden to everybody else meaning of them as all those nights... and mornings, and maybe evenings, and practically any time of the day it could and actually had happened. All the times you had not been able to hold back and just asked your boyfriend – now fiance – to try something with one of your favorite characters of his in the bedroom, and oh he wasn't one to say no to his favorite girl in the world.
“Well, she does know me better than anyone else.” Tom spoke with a grin “But I'd like to believe I have a few surprises and other sides in me she hasn't see yet.” his smile turned into a smirk as he leaned on your side, resting his weight on the couch's arm and your smile got even bigger, as if telling him you could take the game even further if that's what he wanted.
“Who can ever know though-” you shrugged, looking as innocent as you possibly could “When it comes to this man and his incredible acting. Speaking of which, I certainly know firsthand that when it comes to a role and executing a particular scene he likes to just, you know-” you motioned “Get it all in!”
Your words instantly sent him in a feat of laughter as he hd his face behind his hands the second the fans got it and started cheering. This was going to be all over the internet in a couple hours, you were sure, as if your ship wasn't popular enough to begin with.
“All in?” Conan went serious, raising an eyebrow at you nonetheless “I- I- I- You know as the host of a very serious show I should probably ask you what you mean but for the greater good I'll just say-” his voice went to cheerful as if you had not jut said what you did “On another topic, your newest movie!”
“Once Mr Hiddleston remembers how to breath.” you giggled, glancing at your fiance who had taken off his glasses and was wiping his tears “You alright, honey?”
“Oh just wonderful, darling.” he still laughed and you grinned, leaning in to peck his cheek. It made the fans aw once more and melt but they were used to it so you didn't fear it would make them suspect anything anymore.
“Two wonderful and very serious actors, everybody, on the most successful movie of the year!” Conan laughed “Speaking of which, as you two said, it's not the first and only movie you've been together in. In fact during one of your appearancesin the Marvel movies your character got to meet Loki, correct?”
“Yeah during one of my many many cameos, Stan has beat me by only one movie so far-” you chuckled “My character got to meet Loki, in the first Thor movie actually. When I first appeared in Iron Man 2 I never imagined they'd want to have me appear in the whole MCU again but I swear those guys are crazy!” you shook your head “With each appearance I got more screen time until, you know, the whole defender of the universe came along and yep I am an Avenger!”
“Exactly, an Avenger that had an important part in the latest Thor movie. You've- if I'm correct you've been in all three ones, right? Just like all the Avengers and two of the Captain America and Iron Man ones.”
“Uh yeah, yeah I actually have.”
“And you've had at least two scenes with Loki over there in every one of them, didn't you? This interaction of yours had the fans hooked from the first moment, that's unforgettable!”
“Oh yes, that it did.” you giggled, glancing at Tom who nodded his head with a smile “You know they'll uh say it's because she's an important character to the whole storyline, and that it's all for the sake of the general MCU that we all should beand are part of, but-” you raised a finger “But, I just say that's barely the cherry on top.”
“Do you?” he questioned.
“Absolutely! Frankly, we all know it's just because they want to see us flirt and even more specifically see him try desperately to get me and fail because I won't give into him!” you shrugged as the audience laughed an cheered in excitement at your words, they've been waiting for that confirmation for very long and you were finally giving it to them “Guys, guys they just want to see us do each other but we can't for obvious reasons, be honest MCU that's what you want!” and at those words they actually lost it. Tom laughed but clapped at you as everybody got on their feet and did the same.
“Well that- that escalated quickly!” Conan exclaimed, laughing in the end.
“I'm- I'm being honest here!” you raised your hands in surrender, looking at your fiance who held his stomach because of the laughter this time.
“And I'm being honest here by saying you just broke the internet!” Conan pointed out and shrugged as innocently as you could.
“Oh no, no she didn't. I feel like I am about to because I can't hold this back anymore-” Tom smiled but still looked apologetic “Dear Odin, I love this woman!”
And oh he was so right!

INFINITY WAR Spoiler talk
Random spoilery thoughts and rating of the movie
Things I liked:
- Thanos. This is his movie. A sad, lonely, yet terrifyingly driven villain. His relationship with Gamora helped humanize him, but he’s still a genocidal monster through-and-through… One of the best MCU villains (though I feel Killmonger is more relatable since his motivation is grounded in our reality, and Loki since we’ve spent so much time with him and witness his struggles) - Loki saying “we have a Hulk” - The various team-ups throughout the movie in general. - Tony butting heads with Dr. Strange, and his continued mentoring of Peter Parker. - Dr. Strange demonstrating more of his mystic arts powers, and going toe-to-toe with Thanos and holding his own quite well. - Ebony Maw is the only member of the Black Order worth remembering…. creepy and intimidating. - Thor managing to remain humble and mostly-level headed despite losing everything he was protecting and fighting for in Thor: Ragnarok. His bonding with Rocket of all people was endearing. - Kevin Bacon in the Avengers - Rocket matured a bit since GOTG vol. 2. He’s still Rocket as we know him, but more willing to step up and “be the captian” now than before. - The Invisible Drax. Stupid… but i liked it. - Gamora’s flashback to her homeworld and meeting Thanos, and her scenes with Thanos on his ship. We finally get to see her confront her father directly, and the dysfunction lends weight to both their plot threads. - Thanos to Quill: “I like you” - Seeing Vision and Scarlet Witch’s relationship play out on the big screen. - Hulk not coming out to play due to the beating he received by Thanos. He’s still got a child-like mind, and it’s totally believeable that he’s pout and whine and not want to come out. Banner still gets some heroism in nonetheless in the Hulkbuster. - Seeing Wakanda again with the Avengers there alongside Black Panther and Okoye. - All the cameos… always good to see Pepper Potts. Peter’s friend Ned. “Thunderbolt” Ross has an obligatory scene. The Collector appears. M'Baku returns to help T'Challa and the Avengers. Shuri gets to banter with Banner. - the Red Skull’s return… even though he has only a brief scene, it confirmed he was only teleported away and not killed by the Tessaract. - The entire battle with Thanos on Titan. It’s just cool to see heroes all battling a single enemy as opposed to another faceless army. - Nebula confronting Thanos on Titan, and her inclusion at all in the film. I hope she plays a bigger role in the next part. - Thor’s adventure with Rocket and Groot to get a new hammer. He is still obsessed with hammers…. - Giant Peter Dinklage… - “Thor, you’re about to take the full force of a star… it will kill you.” “ONLY IF I DIE!” …“Yes, that’s what killing you means…” - “WHY IS GAMORA?!” - Thanos getting more and more somber and depressed as the movie went along, especially after sacrificing Gamora, the only person he cared about. - "Tell them about the dance-off to save the galaxy." Footloose. - Quill’s angry reaction to Thanos killing Gamora and screwing the heroes… it’s perfectly in character. He’s always been an immature man-child, even with the development he received in the previous films. Part of his curse of being raised by the Ravagers. Likewise, who would NOT have an emotional outburst like that? Stark had one in Civil War. - War Machine back in action. Blowing shit up. - Winter Soldier/White Wolf alongside Rocket Raccoon……. - Thanos throwing chunks of a moon at the heroes. Tony: “If you throw another moon at me…” - Thanos’ admiration of Stark. “I hope they remember you” - Later he tries to comfort Scarlet Witch after she kills Vision. If he wasn’t a maniac hellbent on universal genocide with a history of child abuse, he might be an ok guy… - Thor’s heroic return with Stormbringer. Seeing him back to full power was great, though… it takes away a bit from his development in Ragnarok… He’s not a god of hammers… why does he need one so much? - Thor keeps calling Rocket “rabbit” and Groot “tree”. Didnt bother to learn names - “This is my friend, Tree”, “I am Groot”, “I am Steve Rogers” - Okoye + Black Widow + Scarlet Witch vs. Proxima Midnight - Vision sacrificing himself, and Wanda having to witness him die twice. - “You should have gone for the head!” - The ending… the fingersnap. The dissolve into ashes… The character’s reactions to these deaths is what makes it all work, even if we the audience know it probably won’t be permanent. - “Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good…” and “I don’t wanna go I don’t wanna go… I’m sorry”…… - Knowing what Tony must have felt when Peter disappeared… probably adds a whole new level to his current PTSD… - Dr. Strange clearly playing the long game, even at the sacrifice of himself and half the universe. “Tony, it was the only way”… Witnessing their deaths 14 million times must have been rough. - Cap gets the last words in the movie: “Oh god….” - The simple end credits, playing almost like an “in mermoriam” - The fact that we have no idea where the heck Avengers 4 is going plotwise…. will those who became dust in the wind return? Seems likely since Homecoming 2 and GOTG vol. 3 are filming soon… and like they’d kill off Black Panther after he made ALL THE MONEY before this movie made all the money again. - “Motherfu-”
Things I didn’t like:
- Heimdall again gets kinda shafted… after getting such a prominent role in Ragnarok. At least he got a last heroic gesture by sending Hulk home. - Loki dying so early to be motivation for Thor. Unless he has more up his sleeve in a long play, having him try to stab Thanos in the face felt like sloppy storytelling. What if he succeeded? The Black Order is RIGHT THERE. They would’ve killed both him and Thor anyways. Loki probably knew death was imminent and wanted one last act of defiance and proof of loyalty to Thor and Asgard. I don’t mind him dying early on, but I feel the writers should have been smarter about his actions. - The GotG felt a bit flanderized. I get it though since they need to share screentime here. Quill remains immature and childish and it leads to disaster. Drax merely spouts comedic lines and is generally useless. Mantis is not much of a fighter but at least managed to subdue Thanos a bit. Groot barely registered at all until he makes the handle for Stormbreaker. Groot meeting Captain America was amusing though. - No one during the Wakanda fight calls attention to the talking raccoon… - Cap, Falcon, and Black Widow also didn’t get a whole lot to do. Their fights seemed to devolve into shakey-cam BS. - Vision was nerfed for sake of the plot. Guess he’d otherwise be too OP. - What was the point of Red Skull being there at all… if you replace him with someone else, would it have affected the plot in any way? Why was he floating like a spectre of Death? - Rocket just gives Thor a new eye…. guess they got tired of CGI-ing that eyepatch on Thor. - The fake-out of Gamora killing Thanos in Knowhere… of course they’re not killing the villain in the first third of the movie. - Gamora’s death… when she asked Peter to kill her, I knew she’s probably going to die. Of course not by Peter… the scene of her, Peter, and Thanos was a good one though. - Something about the scene on Vormir felt… heavy-handed. Maybe the music? The silly fade to Thanos’ crying face when Gamora is falling to her doom? Something just took me out of the moment… maybe the awareness that i was looking at a purple, ballsack-chinned, CGI space man crying CGI tears. - The Black Order… generic looking scary alien people… They didn’t amount to a whole lot. Just excuses for more fight scenes. They all die inglorious deaths. - The final battle in Wakanda was another giant brawl with faceless alien monster people… there’s nothing creative about it. - There is no build-up to that battle either… it just happens. Take a page out of Peter Jackson’s The Two Towers… the build-up is just as, if not more important than the battle itself. - Hawkeye and Ant-Man being convieniently written out of the movie… - Where is Valkyrie? and Korg? Not even enough time to give them a mention? Valkyrie might’ve been helpful in the ensuing fight… - Thanos didn’t seem to use the Gauntlet to its full potential despite demonstrating some wild powers. He mostly just shoots purple beams at people… - Thanos is “burdened with knowledge” and thus knows who Stark is…. ok…. what. - The pacing of the movie felt too relentless. Let the movie breathe a bit dammit. - The CGI in some scenes screamed of “reshoots”… Banner in the Hulkbuster comes to mind. Iron Man and Spidey’s Iron suits looked very cartoonish. The Black Order’s CGI looked very off in a few scenes. Could they not have achieved Proxima, Corvius, and Maw using prosthetics? Thanos looked very convincing though, even if his look was a tad simplistic. - The music… you hear the Avengers theme occassionally… but there’s no memorable new music. We don’t hear any of the respective themes of the various characters. No Guardians theme, no Dr. Strange theme, no Iron Man or Captain America or Spider-Man or Thor themes…. Music should factor into this “culmination movie” as much as the characters. Least we got the Black Panther theme when we see Wakanda again. If somehow the different themes get interwoven into a new melody…. plz Avengers 4? -Knowing that this was a part 1 of a 2-part finale sort of robbed the movie of a sense that the deaths will be permenant… but I would like to be surprised in Avengers 4. The question is seemingly “how” they will defeat Thanos and revive their allies, and not “if” they do…
Overall, there is a lot of good in this movie. It’s not as… “fun” as the previous Avengers movies or even Civil War. They tried to be a lot darker, and for the most part they succeeded. The issues I have are mostly nitpicks to the plot, and minor issues with the craft involved.
After two viewings, I don’t feel the need to really watch it again… until Avengers 4 next year.

I’ve seen several people categorizing who they think is safe or not in Infinity War and Avengers 4, and figured I'd throw in my two cents. Warning for spoilers below.
~~~
Totally Safe:
- Peter Parker: Obviously. He just got here and he's got more movies coming. I'm not sure they'd kill off a child anyway, but the whole “future of the MCU” thing is a great comfort.
- Stephen Strange: Same deal, he hasn't been here for long at all and Benedict has more films in the contract. He’s also been described as being a very important fixture in the MCU’s future so he's not going anywhere.
- T’Challa: Again, a newbie with a huge future ahead of him. They’re already discussing his sequels and calling Wakanda a mainstay. No way is anything happening to him.
- Bucky Barnes: Sebastian still has movies in his contract and I highly suspect they're going to have him take up the Cap mantle.
- Sam Wilson: That good old contract reassurance again. And while Bucky seems pretty much poised to become Cap, Sam is another possibility (though he's more likely to remain Falcon and help Bucky get his footing).
- Peter Quill: Chris Pratt is definitely here to stay. Both Peters have a 100% chance of survival.
- Rocket Raccoon: James Gunn already confirmed we’ll get Rocket’s backstory in Vol 3.
- Groot: Where Rocket goes, Groot goes. He’s fine.
- Mantis: Barely been here and confirmed for Vol 3.
- Scott Lang: I'd be shocked if they pulled anything with him. He's got a future ahead of him.
- Shuri: Literally untouchable. They wouldn't dare.
- Okoye: Ditto. The Black Panther cast is pretty much guaranteed to be protected.
- M’Baku: Before Black Panther came out I probably would have placed him elsewhere on this list but I honestly can't see them getting rid of him after his newfound popularity. (I know this was filmed before BP was released, but still)
Probably Safe:
- Gamora: I don't know what Zoe’s contract is like but I simply don't think they'd do it. Her story is far from over and killing her would be a dumb move.
- Natasha Romanoff: I’d be more worried about her if they weren't discussing a Black Widow movie. For all we know it’ll be set in the past, but it's enough to give me hope that she'll be alright.
- Thor Odinson: Same goes for Thor. For the time being, Chris is contractually finished, but the fact that he's talked with Taika about ideas for a Thor 4 makes me feel a lot better about his livelihood.
- Wanda Maximoff: They’ve already killed one Maximoff too many. Wanda has too much story left to tell, both on her own and with her relationship to Vision. To kill her before telling those stories would be a criminal misuse of the character. And I'm really hoping she sticks around long enough to meet Magneto if the X-Men get integrated.
- Vision: I put him here purely because I don't think he's been around long enough to kill off, and he doesn't need the Mind Stone to survive which means Thanos getting his hands on it does not automatically mark Vision for death. He's still potentially on thin ice, and I considered placing him as At Risk, but he probably has a future with Wanda to explore and I'm not sure they'd throw that away.
- Bruce Banner / Hulk: Pretty sure Mark still has a movie left on his contract after Avengers 4. From the looks of set pics, Hulk seems to run away at the end (again), so he's probably fine. However I am concerned about Bruce and whether he'll be completely buried inside of Hulk.
- Wong: Killing him would make sense as a personal blow to Stephen, but I'm sure he's still got a place in future Doctor Strange material. A Stephen without a Wong feels incomplete.
- Ramonda: Only because everyone’s parents are dead and I don't trust Marvel. She's probably fine but I've got my eye on her anyway.
- Pepper Potts: She probably won't be involved in any action therefore remaining in safety, but if the Rescue rumors are true and if she and Tony are married and possibly expecting any children, then she's just a little bit more at risk than she would have been otherwise.
- Happy Hogan: I’m literally only concerned about Happy because Tony made a throwaway comment in Homecoming where he told Peter not to stress him out too badly because he’s “seen his cardiogram”, implying a heart issue (probably because of what happened to him in Iron Man 3). I'm sure they'll be too busy to pay much attention to Happy whatsoever, but I mean, if anything is gonna give you a heart attack, it’s this disaster.
- Valkyrie: Pretty sure they've confirmed they have plans for her, but with all of the Asgardians in serious jeopardy, I'm still just concerned enough.
At Risk:
- Nebula: I would say that she's probably safe because Karen and the writers have expressed their love for exploring her character, but between her and Gamora, there are high chances that something bad will happen to one of them because of Thanos, and I don't see it being Gamora. With her quest for vengeance, she could all too easily find herself in the line of fire.
- James Rhodes: My only hesitation is that he's recovering from a serious injury from Civil War and I'm not sure they'd kill him after that, but otherwise, Rhodey is a prime target. He's been around for ages and he’s Tony’s best friend, so it would be very impactful for Tony as a character and for us as an audience.
- Clint Barton: I'd like to say they wouldn't do it because he has a family, but Marvel doesn’t seem to give a rip about Clint, which could either work against him or in his favor because it could mean that he's disposable or it could mean that they wouldn't find his death impactful enough to do it. Fingers crossed it's the latter, but I don't trust them.
- Drax: I hadn't been worried about him until Dave mentioned wanting to go back to wrestling, which would make it difficult to commit to acting gigs since they both take up so much time. I could see Drax going out in a blaze of glory trying to avenge his wife and daughter.
- Heimdall: I was worried enough about him as it was because the Asgardians clearly get attacked and I've heard pretty much nothing about Heimdall and his role in this movie (for months I didn't think Idris was even in it!), but then they released a toy where Thor has Heimdall’s sword with him and my anxiety skyrocketed. If they make me watch Heimdall die while giving Thor his sword with my own two eyes...
- Nick Fury: I have no clue what he's even supposed to do in this movie, but I figure he's important enough yet small enough of a role that they could get away with killing him (for real this time).
- Maria Hill: Same goes for her.
- Laura Barton: They'd better not touch a hair on her sweet head, but all I'm saying is that Clint will need an emotional push into the Ronin identity, and the comics where he had a family ended up with said family being violently murdered, so I have reason to be suspicious...
It Physically Pains Me To Say That They’re Most Likely Goners:
- Loki: Contrary to popular belief, I don't think he'll get killed in the first five minutes, or maybe even the whole first act, because he definitely has a role to play that requires him to live longer than that (and Feige has said that he'll be with Thanos for “a while” which is definitely longer than five minutes) and I think his character progression will be a key part of whatever that role is, but that character progression is also part of the problem, because I can 1000% see him sacrificing himself and/or being killed fighting against Thanos. No matter what happens, the chances of him going out as a hero are massive and I don't see him making it, whether that be in Infinity War or Avengers 4. When it comes to some of the people who are in A4 it's a little tricky because it may simply be whatever flashback/timeline/AU nonsense seems to be going on rather than them still being alive, so I can't begin to speculate on when his death will occur, but I'm pretty resigned to the idea that it will happen whether I like it or not (literally anyone could tell you that I don't).
- Steve Rogers: This one just feels like a sad inevitability. Killing such a huge character would cause a gigantic impact on the audience and the other characters. He would be a martyr that would make everyone else fight even harder so that his death wouldn't be for nothing, and Bucky could take on the Cap mantle. I already felt like it was luck that he made it out of Civil War, considering Steve famously dies in that comic, but now they're adapting yet another story in which he dies, and I know the MCU certainly doesn't always follow comics (and they've promised that despite the influence of the Infinity/Gauntlet comics, things will definitely be different) but I’m not sure how many times he can cheat death like this. And for the character, dying for a cause he believes in is the best possible way he could go out (and frankly the only way, how else would you off Captain America?), and he could be at peace in death with Peggy.
- Tony Stark: I need to preface this by saying that if they're writing Tony out, my emotional state hinges on him making it out alive and living happily ever after with Pepper and being surrounded by the people who love him, however I get a bad feeling that my emotional state is going to be completely screwed over, whether it's this movie or the next. Tony started all of this ten years ago, and much as I hate it, it makes sense from a writing perspective to cut off the head of the figurative snake as we move to the next decade of Marvel. And talk about an impact. There is no other death that would cause such earth shattering repercussions as his would, for the characters and for us. The Marvel Universe would be rocked to its very core. I used to be more hopeful about his chances for survival, but over time it's started looking worse for him and at this point I'd be more surprised if they let him live.
Link to questions.
Which character that you headcanon is queer do you want Marvel to confirm the most?
I've got to say Loki. From my understanding, out of the characters I headcanon as queer, Loki is the only one who actually is queer canonically in the comics. It would be nice if they confirmed Sam as aromantic, for example, but Sam isn't aro in the comics. For years Loki has been queer in the comics. For centuries he's been queer in mythology. It's about time they say he's queer in the MCU.
I also know that if they confirm him as queer, it'll probably be bisexual or pansexual. At which point I will continue to headcanon him as grey-bi/panromantic asexual because Loki's my ace comfort character.
I'm really scared of Marvel confirming a character as queer though for many reasons, but that is a later question so I'll save my responses for then.
Unforeseen Chasm (Part 59)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:4275
Warnings: Language, bad coping mechanisms, grief, depression, lack of motivation, feelings revealed, relationships at stake, tension is high, start of endgame movie, losing hope, hope is brought back, Song for this part:  I’ll never love again- Lady Gaga Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 49)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:3399
Warnings: disagreement, Banner changes his demeanor towards OFC!Shannon, an old flame reappears for reader, song for this part: Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels).

It was a long ride back, but Shannon slept through most of it. Pietro got the medical care he needed, as did everyone else. The rest of the team went to clean up, rest up, and in a few days, the new recruits would start their training with Steve and Natasha.
You told Loki you’d join Shannon at the mansion to see what answers they had and that you’d meet him at the apartment when you were done. Tony packed Shannon an overnight bag just in case, and Bruce packed his medical gear as well. Pretty soon everyone set off for the mansion.
Shannon was silent. She hadn’t said one word to anyone. She just stared out of the window on the way to the mansion. When Tony informed her of where all of you were going, all she did was barely nod.
Finally, you pulled into the driveway and everyone piled out. Shannon was this quiet mess as she made her way up the stairs. You didn’t have the heart to tell her what all she’d said and done. She seemed to know that she’d done something, but you didn’t think she knew the extent of the fight, so you left it alone.
“Ah, Tony,” Xavier greeted with a smile. “I would say it's good to see you again, but under these circumstances, I’m not sure,” he noted.
“Can you fix her?” Tony asked.
“I’ll certainly try,” he assured.
With that, the trials began. They ran every type of test and scan they could get their hands on. It was about eight hours of tests, and still no answers, except one.
“Shannon’s power, she’s like Rogue,” Hank began explaining to everyone, “she absorbs powers. But Rogue, it’s short lived. She takes them for only a little bit of time. Shannon absorbs everything and doesn’t let it go. Now, you said the powers started to wear her down when she and Y/N fought back in New York, right?”
Tony, you, and Bruce nodded.
“I think Y/N’s power may be attacking Shannon’s cells. Y/N’s power is unique, and it charges the cells it goes to, energizes them. I’d be curious to see what Y/N’s powers do when she casts them on Shannon, rather than Shannon absorbing them.”
“You want her to attack Shannon?” Tony asked, already getting defensive.
“No,” Hank assured. “We’d start small. A drop of blood from each, and see how they react.”
Your eyes narrowed as you thought. “You think that because my power is like a cancer in her, that my power can heal her,” you noted.
“Like radiation,” Bruce suddenly realized.
“Okay, time out,” Tony said. “What’s happening?”
“Radiation, it can cause cancer, right? Too many x-rays and you could be a walking tumor,” Bruce explained. “But then you can use radiation to counteract the tumor, trying to get it to heal.”
“My power acts the same way,” you explained. ”If this works… My powers charge cells to their potential. Well Shannon’s cells have the potential to heal themselves. If I can use my energy on her, to charge her cells, it could fix what’s wrong with her,” you realized.
“Right,” Hank agreed. “I just want to see how your blood interacts first.”
“Whoa, wait a minute I don’t like the idea of having her go through this experimenting. There’s no way I'm going to let that happen,” Tony started off saying. “What if something goes wrong and she gets worse?”
“Tony, stop. If they think that this can help, then let them do their thing. I’d rather go through this than let myself get killed off by powers that aren’t mine.” She looked a little annoyed. “Don’t think about the negatives, think of the possibilities.”
“But, Shannon, don’t you see there’s a risk in this!”
“You don’t think I know that!” she yelled and the lights flickered. “I don’t want to keep getting weak each time I use my powers.” She got pale as she let her powers take over.
“I don’t think that we should be pushing her this hard.” Bruce was the one to reply, seeing just how bad she was getting. “Hank, let’s get her to one of the beds in the Med Bay.” He held her close making sure she didn't fall.
“Tony, I know this is hard,” Charles tried, “but if you don’t let us try, then she will slowly die from these powers. At least this way we have a shot.”
“Alright, alright, but I’ll have bruce keep a close eye on everything so that nothing goes wrong,” Tony grumbled, hating that they were right. He loved Shannon too much to let her suffer through this and die. He didn’t know what he would do if that did happen. “How long will this take till she’s completely cured?”
“That’s hard to say,” Hank responded. “If their blood reacts how I hope it does, and how I think it does, then hopefully less than a month.”
“So essentially her medicine would be taking like ‘shots’ of my powers?” you clarified.
“Right.”
“Okay,” you said with a deep breath.
“Let’s just get some samples and go from there.”
And so he did. He took blood from both you and Shannon. Bruce and Hank were in the lab for only ten minutes before they came back to the rest of you.
“It’s conclusive. Y/N’s blood merged with Shannon’s, and it killed out the bad cells,” he confirmed. “So if you two are ready, we’ll start the procedure,” Hank said, eyeing both of you. “Now, this will take a toll on the two of you. Shannon, your body will be undergoing rigorous fixing of itself, and Y/N, you’ll have to have the endurance to keep your powers going into her for long periods of time. Do you think you two can do this?”
You stared at Shannon. “I’m game if you are. I’ll do anything I can to help you,” you assured.
“Let's get this started then,” Shannon replied from the bed in the Bay. She had gotten weaker by the time they had come to the conclusion. “I think now is a good time as any to start, seeing as how weak I am I won't be leaving tonight.” She pointed to herself.
“I’ll just call Loki,” you stated. You gave your beloved a call and told him you might be at the mansion all night. He understood, wished you and Shannon well, and he asked for you to text when you were on your way home.
Hank and Bruce escorted you and Shannon to the medical facility within the mansion, which was in the basement.
“Alright, let’s get you two comfortable. Shannon, I think you should lay down here,” Hank suggested, pointing to a bed. “Y/N, you can sit here, on this bed.”
You got comfortable, as did Shannon while they continued to instruct you. They put electrodes on Shannon’s scalp, a heart rate monitor on, and something to gauge her temperature. Before you knew it, she had wires all over her. The next moment, they were directing you.
“Alright, Bruce is going to keep an eye on her vitals, meanwhile, I’m going to monitor your power going into her,” Hank stated.
“What do I...do?” you asked, concerned. “I mean, how do I--”
“Set your power to the lowest setting you can, and just let your power flow into her. We’ll monitor for ten minutes and see how it does.”
You nodded and looked to Shannon. “You ready for this?”
“I’m ready to not feel like this,” she responded.
All you could do was nod, and you started the gentle flow of energy for ten minutes. Shannon seemed alright, only sweating slightly, and feeling a bit of discomfort, but no pain. They checked in for pain, discomfort, how you were holding up. They did a check of all of her vitals, and other than her heart rate increasing, they were looking great. Everything was checking in better than when you started, slightly.
Bruce and Hank asked that you continue to let your powers flow for another hour. By the end of the session you were tired and told Loki you’d have to stay the night. He said that was alright.
Bruce and Hank both thought it would be better for you two to stay indefinitely at the mansion, until the treatment was complete. It would be easier this way, as the sessions were too much of a toll on both of you. Tony came and went. Loki hadn’t been by to visit you yet.
They let you bunk together in the same room. The next day, you were in med bay, but a few students were in there. They watched what you two were doing, asking questions, inquiring. Pretty soon, the med by was full of students coming in and out, curious as to what Mrs. Stark was doing with Loki’s girlfriend.
At first, it was kind of cute, you knew they were only inquisitive, but it began to feel intrusive. That night, just when you were about to finish the session, a familiar voice came into the room.
“Well look what the wind blew in,” he said and your face whipped toward the handsome cajun in the doorway.
“Remy!” you breathed. You wanted to get up and greet him, but you were rather weak.
“Alright, everybody out. Let’s give the ladies some room to breathe,” he instructed to the kids. They all collectively groaned. He rolled his eyes and laughed. “I know, I know, I’m the worst.” He ruffled some kids’ hair as they walked by. “Go on, scram.” He sauntered up to your table and gave you an award winning smile. “Word around the house is you two madamoiselles are here playing doctor,” he teased, leaning over on his arms on your bed.
“Actually, she is,” Shannon replied, gesturing to you. “She’s fixing me with her power.”
“Is that right?” Remy asked with a grin.
“Guess so,” you said, smiling at him.
“Where you been, stranger?” he asked, poking you.
“Trying to get my life back on track,” you informed. “I’ve been released, so has Loki, so we’re starting to get our lives together.”
“Well I’ll be. That’s great to hear,” he commented with a twinkle in his eye. “Well I hear you’re staying here. I’ll be by to bug you, alright?”
You laughed at him. “Alright,” you agreed. He gave Shannon a pat on the shoulder as he passed before Shannon gave you a peculiar look.
“So you going to tell me about you and Gambit right there?” She pointed at the doorway.
You frowned at her. “What about him? We haven’t seen each other since the last time I was here,” you reminded, as if it was obvious. “He just came to say hi. I’m so glad he did,” you gushed.
“Look at you, all gushing like a schoolgirl,” she teased. “Like you didn't notice the twinkle in his eye when he said he found out about you being here,” she remarked just as Bruce walked in to see how both women were doing.
“Hey, Shannon, how are you feeling today?” He walked over to check her vitals. “And you, Y/N? You feeling okay? How’s your energy today?” He turned to her to see her smiling.
“I’m doing okay so far, I just wish we could do this faster,” Shannon replied looking up at him. “Isn’t there a way for me to get more doses?”
“Doing great, doc,” you said with a thumbs up. “I’m a little weak, but I’m hanging in there.”
“Shannon, you know that’s not possible. You could get worse and I don’t think Y/N would be able to endure for longer periods of time.” He went up closer to her smoothing her hair as he checked her temperature. “Y/N, do you want me to give you a dose of electrolytes to help you re-energize a bit?” He was looking at you while he held Shannon’s wrist feeling her pulse.
Bruce knew he could just check Shannon’s vitals with the tech but he wanted to actually feel her. He had no right as she was married to Tony but he couldn’t help feeling what he felt for her ever since she could get hulk to let him come back when he needed to.
You waved him off. “I appreciate it but I want to hold onto those for when we really need them.”
 “You’re right. I can’t do that to her. She’s already doing so much now to help me get rid of this stuff.”
“Are you sure, Y/N? I have plenty if you need it let me know,” Bruce replied, moving away from Shannon. “Is there anything I can do for you, Shannon?” He hoped he could do more for her than just check her health.
“I’m okay for now, Bruce but thanks for offering.”
While the two spoke, you watched on with bemused eyes, trying to keep a grin off your face. Shannon could say all she wanted about your friendship with Remy, but doc here didn’t have to be here. Hank could check all the vitals, not to mention Jean or any other nurse technician. He wanted to be up close and personal - he always did. You weren’t oblivious to the way he watched her, to the way his lips perked up when she walked into the lab. Bruce was a nice enough guy, but a blind man could see his feelings went beyond nice and friendly for Shannon.
“Alright, ladies, if you need anything let me know I'll be in the other room working on making this less of a stress on you.” He waved to you and squeezed Shannon’s hand as he left the room.
“God I’m going to get myself into trouble if Tony sees me acting like this with Shannon,” Bruce thought to himself. He shook his head as he walked down the hall. In all the time that he’s known her he’s though she’s been this amazing, kind and caring person. But he knew that he had no chance he saw how she felt about Tony right away. Hopefully with these sessions he might get to be closer to her than before.
You let out a chuckle, making Shannon narrow her eyes at you.
“What?” she demanded with a smile.
“Oh, just you… and Dr. Banner,” you sing-songed.
“What about us?” she asked, as if she didn’t know.
“You think there’s something between me and Remy? What about you and Dr. Love, huh? He’s in here doing work any nurse or nurse tech could do,” you insisted, thrusting your chin towards the direction Bruce walked off in.
“Y/N, are you crazy? He doesn’t like me like that. Plus I’m married to Tony.” She rolled her eyes. “He’s just being a good friend, making sure I’m okay… that we are okay,” she changed her wording.
“Right,” you said with a nod. “I forgot people are forbidden to love someone who’s married.” You shot her a challenging look. “Shannon, he barely looked my way,” you continued, whispering. “Haven’t you ever thought that maybe he felt more than friendship? Ever? It’s never made you wonder, or crossed your mind?”
“I have no idea what you're talking about.” She got quiet for a moment thinking back to everything he’s done and such. “Do you really think he likes me like that?” she whispered back. She looked down at her hands feeling wrong for not even noticing. She’d been so focused on everyone else and for christ sake! She’s married to the man of her dreams. What could possibly come of her being aware of his feelings besides feeling like she needs to tiptoe around him?
All you could do was nod. “I think he does. Hey, I’m not here to judge. You love who you love, Shannon, that’s all there is to it. And if you don’t feel the same, well I don’t blame Banner for falling for you. You’re quite the catch,” you assured with a wink. “But no need to stress over it, right? You’re married to Tony, who you love, and Bruce will probably never tell you how he feels so, everything is golden.”
“Thanks for that, Y/N, but I don't know how it’s going to be when he’s always around. I’m going to be aware of how he treats me. I love Tony so much.” She shook her head. “I just don’t want to get Bruce’s hopes up thinking he might have a chance. He’s always been someone special to me.” She thought of how close they had gotten in the past few years.
You shrugged. “So don’t let anything change. Think of him like he’s me,” you offered. “Treat him like a friend and there is no worry of getting his hopes up or hurting him. Besides, he knows you love Tony and you’re loyal to him. He’d never come between that. Hell, even if he was madly in love with you, I don’t think he’d do that.”
“Yeah you're right. I don’t know why I'm letting it get to me like this.” She laughed a bit and turned to her side to look at you better. “So Remy, huh?” She did the little eyebrow twitch of hers. “How long have you two been dancing around each other like that?” She smiled.
You laughed as you threw an arm over your eyes. “Shannon,” you chastised. You’d never consciously acknowledged it, but yes, in another life, in another world, in another timeline, Remy would be the type of man you’d go for. Hell, he was kind of your type apparently. An orphaned boy, long forgotten by his parents only to be raised to get into trouble. Trouble making flirts, that’s what you were attracted to. You guessed Shannon was right, you two had been doing this song and dance for a while, but when he wasn’t with someone, you were, and vice versa. The time just never seemed right. It wasn’t like you and Strange. That was a passing, fleeting flirtation in college, but you and Remy’s path seemed to cross many times.
“What, you're not gonna tell me that you don’t see how much he likes you?” she pointed out. “I know, you know. Why haven’t you told me more?” she asked completely curious. Although it wasn't her right to be nosy. “He seems like the type of guy you’d be with aside from the fact that you’re with Loki. Would you have been with Remy this entire time if it hadn’t been for meeting Loki?”
You turned, facing your best friend, sighing. “You remember when you came to get Thor’s hammer? In New Mexico? You and I agreed I would come back to New York with the data I’d gathered…” You took a deep breath. “I had plans to look up Remy when I got back.” Just saying it made you feel guilty, but it was true. “I love Loki. I think we were meant to find each other, you know? I met him in that crater site… it led me back to my birth parents on Asgard. I found out we were almost raised together…” You let out a small laugh, mainly laughing at yourself. “I don’t think I’d have it any other way, but still… you can’t crush old feelings, right?”
“Yeah I remember you had the crazy idea to go with him.” She giggled, thinking back. “Really! And I’m just finding out.” She looked over to you a little surprised. “Aww, Y/N, I didn’t know you felt like that. I know how much you love Loki and all but how certain are you he feels confident enough to say the same?” She reached her hand out to you. “Guess we’ve both been there. How do you feel now, knowing he’ll be around more often and how Loki hasn’t come by?” She shouldn’t be pushing you but she wanted to know where you stood on all of this.
“I think it’ll be fine. Loki and I are pretty solid. We’ve nearly endured death for each other. He knows my weaknesses and I know his. Can’t say it won’t stir up some old feelings though,” you admitted with a weak smile.
She nodded in understanding and the two of you made your way to your shared bedroom.

Alright, let’s get you two comfortable.

Chapter 83
Summary:  Flashback to when everyone finally returns to the tower, the new normal begins with Sigyn living with Loki, just one thing is left for her to do...tell her parents...
Sigyn sat at the desk in Loki's, their, newly repaired room at the tower, the loading circle on her laptop moving in time to the purring ring as she waited for her parents to answer the call. They tried to speak at least once a month on schedule, more often by arrangement if they could, and this was the first chance she had to do so. To tell them about her change in circumstances. All of them. She wasn't nervous, well maybe a little; telling parents about a new relationship was always nerve wracking, let alone one that would firmly put her in the public eye, but not as nervous as Loki. He kept wandering in and out of the room, knowing she wanted to introduce him properly, once she had had a chance to soften the blow, so to speak. As much as she had reassured him they would be fine it still wasn't going to be an easy thing to explain, which was why Charles Xavier was waiting to be called in if necessary. They trusted him and his word, even if they doubted hers.
The call was answered and she was rewarded with a close up of her dad's shirt buttons as he took a seat, revealing her mom off to the side in another chair, smiling broadly at her. 'Hey, sweetie.' Her dad grinned as he got comfortable. 'How are you?' 'I'm good, how're you both?' She asked as she leant on the desk with her elbows, unable to keep the smile from her own lips. 'We're fine.' Her mom replied. 'Did you redecorate?' She looked behind her automatically, having forgotten they knew her room at Xavier's so well. 'Oh! No, I moved. Actually a lot has changed. This might take a while.' She sighed, wondering how to start. She had laid awake most of the night wondering what she would say, until Loki realised and distracted her into blessed unconsciousness. But she wasn't nervous. No. Definitely not. 'I took another job in the city.' 'You're not at Xavier's?' Her dad said in surprise. She had been there for over ten years, not including her college years, and it was as much a home to her as theirs was. 'Nope. No more Xavier's. Charles recommended me for this other position and it's sort of spiralled.' She admitted, feeling like she was grossly under exaggerating. 'More teaching or counselling this time?' Her mom asked, leaning forward in her seat. They were always interested in what she was doing, but why wouldn't they be? She was their baby. 'Neither. Listen, I need you both to just hear me out, not jump to conclusions, and really not yell at me, because this is one hell of a story.' Her dad frowned, his brows furrowing in concern. 'You're worrying me, sweetie. What did you move on to?' 'Erm,' she scratched her neck nervously, 'I kind of joined The Avengers.' They reacted pretty much as she expected. Her dad laughed and her mom repeated her words back to her in a slightly higher pitch. 'It's a lot more complicated than that. You're going to have to give me a chance to explain because it's pretty weird.' 'But Maia, The Avengers? You mean you're counselling at their tower, not you’re one of them, right?' Her mom laughed nervously. 'No, on the team. Which is why I need to explain.' 'Maia.' Her dad said sternly and she knew he was about to try and lecture her without all the facts, and she was pretty sure she knew what about. 'You aren't exactly in the same pay grade, shall we say, as Captain America, Tony Stark, not to mention they have Thor's maniacal brother working with them! This had better be some kind of joke.' Of course Thor's "maniacal" brother chose that moment to walk back into the room and she waved him out again frantically. Thankfully he took the hint before he was in view of the camera. 'He's not maniacal.' She said defensively. 'He's actually really sweet.' 'What?' He laughed unfunnily. 'You've met him?' She blushed. A lot. Her cheeks flamed and she knew they would see it. She bit her lip and gave them an apologetic smile. 'Yes?' 'She's crushing on him!' Her mom said in disbelief, assuming that was the reason for the blush. 'Not...crushing, not really. But that's another part of the reason you need to listen.’ She reminded them pointedly. They hadn't given her a chance to even start to explain yet. ‘The last few weeks have been pretty crazy, and I’m really not convinced you’ll believe it, but I have to try make you understand because my entire life has changed. Everything.’ She raised her hand and coated it in power, showing them the amber glow she had never had control over until recent days. Her mom gasped, her dad’s jaw dropped open, both bore wide eyes, and she continued to speak into their stunned silence. ‘Charles recommended me for a position at The Avengers Tower, helping Loki adjust to his new position. He’s helped me unlock my powers, which is a whole other story, but you’re going to have to get used to the idea he’s in my life.’ She said as she extinguished her hand again. ‘He’s in your life?’ Her dad repeated, his expression unimpressed. ‘You need to explain yourself, Maia.’ ‘I don’t know if I can!’ She pushed the chair out and got up, walking back across the room before turning to face them again. ‘Charles will one-hundred percent back me up on this, so try not to freak out even more, but my powers are working because of Loki, because of what he’s…’ She growled in frustration and dropped back into her chair. ‘We’re an item, okay? A couple. And I know you’re going to bitch at me but just stow it for a minute because it’s going to get weirder.’ ‘Weirder than you dating a genocidal maniac? Really? I don’t think we can imagine much weirder.’ Her dad said angrily and she shook her head. ‘How about the fact I’m his dead wife reincarnated? That weird enough for you, Dad?’ She realised she shouldn’t have been so blunt about two seconds before her dad cut her off, cancelled the call, hung up, whatever you want to call it. She closed her eyes as she sighed. She knew that the way to get him to listen was to not do exactly what she had done. He needed gentle coaxing, not things thrown in his face. ‘Not going well, sunbeam?’ ‘Not going well, my prince.’ She turned in the chair to see him leaning against the doorway. ‘You been lurking in the hallway or in the room invisible?’ ‘You know me so well.’ He came towards her with a small smile and knelt before her, taking both her hands in his. ‘You knew this wouldn’t be easy for them to hear, sweet, despite what you said. There is a lot of information for them to take in, least of all you and I.’ ‘I want them to be happy for us, and to like you.’ ‘I did try and enslave your planet.’ He reminded her. ‘Only once.’ She argued. ‘That was quite enough for most people.’ He leant up and kissed her softly. ‘It does little to endear me to the populace. You are perhaps the most forgiving person I have met thus far.’ ‘I’m a sucker for a pretty face.’ She shrugged as her computer began to ring and he got to his feet to leave her again but she didn’t release his hand. ‘Stay?’ ‘I don’t think that is such a good idea, princess.’ He shook his head. ‘I don’t care.’ She didn’t let him go and she reached over and answered the call. Now just her mom remained in the seat her dad had been in. ‘Maia, your dad…oh.’ She said as she realised he daughter wasn’t alone. ‘Mom, Loki; Loki, this is my mom.’ ‘Mrs Tomson.’ Loki bowed his head respectfully. ‘It is an honour to make your acquaintance.’ ‘You’re Loki.’ She stated, unsure what else to say. ‘I am.’ ‘Make a chair.’ Sigyn tugged on his hand and with a small sigh of resignation he created one to match her own before taking a seat. ‘Mom, I need you to understand, and maybe try explain to Dad. I know it doesn’t sound right, I really do, but I have Charles on standby ready to confirm everything is true, and I know you trust him. The reason my powers never worked right is because it’s not a mutation, it’s Asgardian sorcery. All those dreams I used to have when I was little, about being in battles with princes, they were past life memories, of Loki, and Thor, it was all true, and now I remember almost everything, I know who I was, and that was Sigyn, Loki’s wife.’ ‘Goddess of Fidelity.’ Loki added. ‘Lady of Unyielding Gentleness.’ ‘That’s enough.’ She squeezed his hand at her mom’s confused yet worried expression. ‘I can have Charles call you, if you want clarification, but it’s all true. Loki unlocked my powers for me, he’s helping me train them so I can be an Avenger. We’re living together and…’ she paused, knowing she might already have said too much. ‘And I know it’s sudden, and it’ll take some getting used to. And I know Dad’s mad, and it’s my fault, but talk to Charles, let him clear it up for you, and when you’re ready to talk about it, I’m here.’ ‘Don’t hang up yet, love.’ Loki raised her hand and kissed her knuckles automatically. ‘I’ll be right back.’ She glanced at him as he left and her mom spoke again. ‘I don’t know what to say, honey. This is kind of a surprise.’ ‘Tell me about it. I woke up to realise I was someone else.’ She sunk down in her seat. ‘Can you try convince Dad to listen to Charles? Even if he won’t listen to me? Charles has checked both our heads and he knows what’s gone on. He can probably put a better perspective on it than me.’ ‘Have Charles call us.’ Her mom agreed. ‘If anyone can make your dad see sense it’ll be him.’ ‘Thanks, Mom.’ She smiled but it was sad, and she was almost certain as soon as the call was over she would lock herself in the bathroom and have a cry. It certainly hadn’t gone the way she had hoped. ‘I know it’s a lot to take in, I’ve struggled with parts of it too, like you wouldn’t believe, but having Loki help me through it…’ she sighed, ‘you’ll like him, I promise you will.’ ‘You’re a grown woman, we can’t ground you.’ She said lightly but there was seriousness to the words, as though they would if they could. ‘We’ll try understand.’ ‘That’s all I ask.’ Sigyn glanced at the door as Loki came back through it, being followed by someone. ‘Steve?’ Sigyn frowned as he came into the room, Loki offering him the chair which he took with thanks. ‘Loki said you might want me to speak to your folks, set a few things straight?’ He glanced from her to the screen and nodded to her mom. ‘Ma’am. Steve Rogers, at your service.’ ‘Uh…that’s Captain America.’ Her mom said without taking her eyes off him. ‘Yeah.’ Sigyn chuckled. ‘It is.’ Steve spent the next ten minutes explaining as best he could about the situation, how the team all now trusted Loki, the many things he had done for them, and for the second five minutes her dad returned, listening in disbelief as Captain America spoke animatedly about their daughter and how capable she was, what a difference she had made in a short space of time to the team, all the while Loki standing behind her with his hands on her shoulders, close but not distractingly so. ‘And if you need any further clarification from the team I’m sure I can arrange a meeting where we can ease your worries.’ Steve finished. ‘We’ll bear that in mind, thank you, Captain Rogers.’ Her dad said. ‘And I’ll get Charles to call you in a little bit.’ Sigyn added. ‘Thanks, sweetie.’ Her dad managed a small smile. ‘This wasn’t what we had in mind for you, you know that.’ ‘Best laid plans.’ She shrugged. ‘If it helps I know you always wanted me to be happy, and Loki does make me happy.’ ‘That’s what’s important.’ Her mom said before her dad could reply. ‘Thanks. I’ll speak to you soon? Maybe?’ ‘We’ll talk after we’ve spoken to Charles.’ Her mom promised. ‘Okay.’ She nodded. ‘Speak to you soon.’ She kissed her fingertips and waved at them as she always did, then finished the call, her shoulders slumping. ‘You okay with how that went?’ Steve asked her, his face a mask of concern. ‘Really no.’ She sighed and got to her feet. ‘Excuse me, would you?’ She asked, and went and locked herself in the bathroom.
Loki left Sigyn in peace for a good ten minutes before making her a coffee and coming back to their room, knocking softly on the door, knowing she was there despite the silence. ‘Sig? Sunbeam?’ He asked quietly. ‘Can I come in? Or would you like to come out?’ ‘No.’ Came the faint reply and he was not surprised. ‘Please, kitten?’ There was a pause then the lock clicked and he took it as a sign, pushing down the handle with his free hand and opening the door, finding her sitting against the wall by the sink, her knees drawn up and eyes puffy. He didn’t say anything straight away, just passed her the cup he held and took a seat beside her. ‘That’s Tony’s special blend that he hides in the back of the freezer, in case you were wondering.’ She sipped it and smiled slightly. ‘It’s good.’ ‘That’s why he hides it. At least I assume so. It could just be because he’s such a child.’ ‘You’re all children. All men.’ She murmured into the cup. ‘I am assuming we are including your father in “all men”?’ She sighed and leant to the side until her head rested against his upper arm and shoulder. ‘Especially him.’ ‘Oh, petal.’ He leant his cheek against her hair. ‘Do you think, if we are ever blessed with a daughter, that I will be any better? That any man who approaches her will reach my standard of what she deserves? I barely deserve you, yet here we are, and you cannot blame a father when his baby virtually brings home the enemy and expects acceptance with no real explanation.’ ‘I tried to explain.’ She said defensively. ‘But it was never going to be straightforward.’ He reasoned. ‘You have, however, taken the first step, which will open the door further. And with Charles’ input they may be more understanding.’ ‘And your idea to bring in Steve was pretty good.’ She moved and he raised his head, leaning closer to him until he closed the distance, allowing her to kiss him. ‘Thank you.’ ‘Who better to support your claim than America’s own golden boy? If they suspect foul play of some kind then Steven is the least likely of us to be corrupted.’ ‘True. Steve being caught lying when it mattered would be as likely as finding out he was HYDRA.’ Loki laughed. ‘Perhaps one of the most ridiculous notions I have ever heard.’ He bowed his head and kissed her again. ‘I do not wish to be the cause of troubles between you and your parents, buttercup, but I will fight for us, with every breath in my body.’ His words made another thought surface in her head, something she hadn’t considered, that her parents may never be okay with this, that they might not be able to accept Loki as part of her life, and when she spoke her voice was quiet and slow, as though each word were carefully constructed, deliberately thought through. ‘If they can’t accept you, accept us, even after they’ve spoken to Charles, I choose you, my prince.’ ‘Your words mean more to me than you could ever know, love.’ He took her hand in his, lacing their fingers. ‘But you should not have to choose between me and your parents.’ ‘But if I do,’ she sighed, ‘don’t get me wrong, I’ll feel awful, but what we have, what fate has brought us, we can’t squander it. We deserve this.’ ‘Let us hope for the best.’ He raised her hand to his lips. ‘We can worry over the rest if it happens.’ She nodded, watching him as he kissed each of her knuckles in turn. ‘Would you like a daughter, or would you worry too much?’ ‘Quite the subject change.’ He gave her a small smile. ‘If she were to be as much trouble as her mother, her taste in men as questionable, I do not doubt I will be grey prematurely, but any child we create will be the apple of my eye, the most loved being in the nine realms, along with its mother.’ ‘I don’t have questionable taste in men.’ She nudged him. ‘I have wonderful taste.’ ‘Merely stating what will be popular opinion.’ ‘If Tony Stark can accept us then everyone else should be a breeze.’ She squeezed his hand. ‘He was rather stunned by our sudden betrothal.’ He reached across and wiped a thumb under her eye. ‘You have smudged your make up, darling girl.’ ‘I’ll clean up.’ ‘Drink your coffee first. Even if Charles has spoken with your parents making them wait may not be a bad thing. Give them a chance to mull it over somewhat.’ ‘Make them stew, you mean?’ He shrugged dismissively in reply. ‘Okay.’ They sat together in complete silence as she drunk her coffee then he waited while she cleaned off her make up entirely. He didn’t like to say so but he loved when she was fresh faced. Admittedly she was still a little pink and puffy but the freckles he adored were more abundant without make up to hide them. By the time they went back out to the room she had a message from Charles on her phone, asking that she call him before she speak to her folks. She didn’t see that as a good sign. Loki kissed her temple as she sat and turned to leave but she caught his hand, stopping him. ‘Please don’t go.’ ‘Anything for you.’ He took the seat beside her, putting himself close enough that they could continue to hold hands. She smiled sadly at him as she called Charles’ number, putting the phone on speaker on the desk in front of them. ‘Thank you for calling back, Sigyn.’ Charles said warmly in answer. ‘Hi, Charles. Loki’s on speaker with me, is that okay?’ ‘Of course. Good afternoon to you, Loki.’ ‘And you, Professor.’ ‘I will get straight to the point. No doubt you want to know how it went with your parents?’ ‘A little worried but yeah, please.’ ‘Don’t be worried, they listened to the story and asked some informed questions. I think perhaps their initial reaction was out of surprise more than anything else.’ ‘That’s something, I guess.’ She gave Loki a hopeful look. ‘They have also asked to meet with you both, here at the school.’ ‘What?’ ‘They want to meet Loki, in particular, and I suggested somewhere neutral. I thought here would be somewhere you would agree to.’ ‘I appreciate it, thanks, Charles.’ She glanced at Loki. ‘That okay?’ ‘It will be fine, I’m sure.’ He smiled at her encouragingly. Sigyn sighed. She hoped it would be, she just wasn’t convinced.
Two days later Sigyn drove the two of them out to Westchester in a SHIELD SUV. Loki had never been to the school and he found the grounds and old building quite appealing. She parked out front and got out of the car, knowing they were deliberately early, and waited for Loki to come around to her side, slipping his hand into hers automatically. They were going to pack a few more of her things while they were here too. It was Jean Grey who met them just inside the doors with Scott Summers, who looked Loki over with suspicion. Loki was used to it and ignored it. Sigyn wasn’t and didn’t. ‘Just wipe that look off your face, Summers, before the wind changes and you stay like that.’ She warned him playfully as she and Jean broke their hug. ‘You always had interesting taste in men.’ He smiled at her before she hugged him. ‘I dated your brother once.’ She reminded him. ‘Exactly.’ She punched him in the arm as they parted. She had missed them the last few weeks. ‘Loki, this is Jean Grey and Scott Summers. She’s a talented telepath, he’s a talented asshat.’ They shook hands, Loki nodding to each of them in turn. ‘Has Charles told you both the story?’ ‘The great reincarnation romance? He has mentioned it.’ Jean grinned. ‘To everyone?’ ‘Just the teachers. He’s told your students you aren’t coming back and are joining The Avengers but not why. He wasn’t sure how much you wanted public.’ ‘It’s all going public.’ She explained. ‘It’ll come out anyway but Darcy, one of the assistants, wants to make a website dedicated to us and our story.’ ‘An entire website?’ Scott frowned. ‘Most of a website. She already has vines and the like of The Avengers doing weird and wonderful things, but she wants to share it and this way we don’t have to worry too much about everything being rumour.’ ‘No one will truly believe it anyway, sunbeam.’ Loki reminded her. ‘This way people may debate with the facts all they wish.’ ‘Is that my little Maia I hear?’ ‘Hank!’ Sigyn said excitedly, turning to find her favourite debating partner coming towards her with a smile on his blue furry face. He picked her up and hugged her before putting her firmly back on her feet before more introductions were made. ‘Charles has asked that you go ahead to your room and he will be with you as soon as he is finished with the meeting he is in.’ ‘Thanks.’ She turned back to Loki, holding her hand up. ‘Come on, Mischief, let’s go to my room.’ ‘How can I refuse such an offer.’ He took her hand and let her lead him up the staircase.
‘We will definitely need a larger set of shelves.’ He commented as he took in all her books, from novels and plays to text books and references. ‘I can put some in storage.’ She offered as she packed a few things into a box from her bedside table. ‘You will do no such thing.’ He said, giving her a horrified look. ‘Midgardian storage is damp, cold and quite frankly too barbaric for such treasures.’ He curved his hands in the air in front of him and in seconds the books were gone. ‘Magical storage. Much more appropriate.’ ‘Damn, do you have space for the whole room? Or at least that which I have to take?’ ‘You could create your own vault, love.’ He smiled at her, sitting as she was on the simple double bed. ‘I never could before.’ She reminded him. ‘But you accessed my vault quite easily.’ He came and sat beside her. ‘Perhaps not now, when under pressure to do so, but it is something else we can experiment with.’ ‘I’d like that.’ ‘Until then of course,’ he waved his hands and everything in the room was suddenly empty; all her drawers, units, cleared, ‘we can experiment with other things.’ ‘No funny business in the dorms.’ She smiled as he wrapped his arm around her waist and tugged her onto his lap. ‘Break the rules with me, Sig.’ He purred as he nuzzled at her neck. ‘Let’s make mischief.’ ‘Why are you so hard to say no to?’ She groaned as he nipped at her skin. ‘I do so love it when you say yes.’ His hands tightened on her rear. ‘Not that I am any stranger to this sort of thing,’ Charles’ voice interrupted them and Sigyn tried to jump out of Loki’s lap in shock but he had such a tight grip on her all she succeeded in doing was flipping the pair of them so she was flat on her back with him on top of her. Loki started laughing, he couldn’t help himself, it was so much like being caught as a youth again, and Sigyn’s panic only made matters worse as she pushed at him to get off her. ‘Good morning, Professor.’ He chuckled as he righted himself, enjoying the flush to her cheeks as she scrambled into a crosslegged position almost on the other side of the bed. ‘Good morning, Loki. I think you can call me Charles now, as we seem to keep meeting on such an intimate basis.’ Charles joined in his laughter. ‘Honestly, Maia, Sigyn, I have caught you in more compromising positions since you met Loki than in the last decade.’ ‘There’s a reason for that.’ She muttered as she covered her face with her hands while Loki straightened his jacket before shaking Charles’ hand. ‘And I know a good many of them.’ ‘Not that many.’ Loki assured him with a raised eyebrow. ‘Three hundred years worth is quiet a set of memories to relive and match.’ ‘I’m going to die of exhaustion before that.’ She mumbled as she got off the bed and straightened her t-shirt. ‘Asgardian constitution, love. You’ll be fine.’ ‘Can we not talk about this?’ ‘I’m sorry, I have seen you blush many times, but never as much as you have lately.’ Charles smiled warmly. ‘She goes the most beautiful shade I have ever seen.’ Loki looked between them. ‘Okay, enough. How long until my folks get here?’ ‘You must want to change the subject badly if that is your preferred distraction.’ Loki said apologetically before walking around the bed to stand before her. ‘You’re horrible to me.’ She poked him in the chest. ‘Out of love, sunbeam.’ He smiled. ‘The flush to your cheeks is adorable.’ ‘You do it so damn easily.’ She complained as Charles came further into the room. ‘You have half an hour before your parents arrive.’ Charles answered her question. ‘I thought we may be best meeting in my office and,’ he glanced around, ‘as you seem to be packed already perhaps you would like to give Loki a tour?’ ‘Above ground level only?’ She checked and Charles nodded. ‘For now. We can’t allow him to see all of our secrets on the first visit, can we?’ He smiled. ‘It would take me more than half an hour for that anyway.’ She slid her hand into Loki’s and looked up at him. ‘Come on, Chaos, let’s give you the two cent tour. ‘I’m sure it’s worth more than that, petal.’ He allowed her to pull him from the room. ‘I’ll see you in your office in a bit.’ She called back to Charles as they left.
Loki had to admire the craftsmanship of the old house, plenty of carved wood and paintings lined the walls and Sigyn pointed out certain features in hushed tones as class was still in session, the hallways silent. ‘This was my classroom.’ She whispered as they edged up to the door that stood part open, and she could just see Ororo Monroe at the front, speaking animatedly about the topic she had started before she left; Little Women, another of Sigyn’s favourite books, discussing the difference in ambitions between each of the March girls. One of the students glanced up and spotted her, smiling broadly before nudging the boy beside him and soon the whisper of her name ran through the room until Ororo herself glanced at the door then beckoned her inside with a smile of her own. ‘Class, looks like we have a visitor. Oh, two.’ Her smile faltered slightly as Sigyn opened the door enough that she could step inside, meaning Ororo could see Loki beside her. ‘Just wait there a sec.’ Sigyn smiled at him as she stepped inside. ‘Hi, everyone.’ She waved but most of the kids were more interested in who she had left outside and soon his name was being whispered by the class as well and she sighed, pushed the door open and pulled him in by his sleeve. ‘Yes, this is Loki of Asgard, one of The Avengers.’ She glanced back to find his expression guarded but somewhat nervous. One of the girls near to the back raised her hand and Sigyn smiled at her. ‘Yes, Emily?’ ‘Professor X said you weren’t coming back.’ She pulled on her sleeve nervously as she lowered her hand. ‘Officially I’m not.’ Sigyn explained. ‘I have a meeting with the Professor and had to clear out my room. I’ll miss you all though.’ A boy raised his hand then, more confident in the light of his classmate breaking the ice, but didn’t wait to be asked. ‘Why are you with him?’ He said the last word as though it were a dirty word, one that left a bitter taste in his mouth. ‘Lance, change your tone. That’s not how we treat guests.’ Ororo pulled him up on it immediately but he continued to scowl at Loki. ‘Loki is,’ Sigyn sighed, ‘it’s complicated but will be public knowledge soon enough.’ ‘He tried to take over the planet.’ The boy spat and Loki realised while he may be a student he was considerably on the large side, such as Thor was as they grew, broad and tall, but that didn’t stop Sigyn walking up to his desk confidently, completely nonplussed. ‘And the Professor has verified the story The Avengers released, that Loki was coerced into his actions.’ She said firmly. ‘If you accuse Loki of willingly partaking in events, Lance, you are calling the Professor a liar.’ He shifted uncomfortably under her gaze and Loki was impressed by how much respect her words seemed to command. He had not seen her fully in this capacity. ‘Is that what you meant?’ ‘No, ma’am.’ He muttered reluctantly. ‘I’m sorry, I don’t think Loki heard your apology.’ ‘Sorry.’ Lance said loudly, glancing up at the God in question. ‘None necessary, I quite understand.’ Loki replied diplomatically. ‘But accusations help no-one.’ Sigyn looked back at him. ‘You will all hear a lot of things over the next few weeks, about me and Loki, and the truth is very complicated, but no more complicated than having a teacher who can teleport.’ She walked to the front of the class where she and Ororo hugged briefly. ‘If you want to do some research then there will be official documentation online in due course, but if you want my side, our side,’ she beckoned Loki to her, ‘it’s something you’re going to have to take on trust for now, but you’re all old enough to make your own, informed decisions, if you want to hear it. If you don’t mind, Miss Monroe?’ ‘Not at all.’ She smiled. There was a general murmuring through the class of the positive kind and Ororo offered Loki a chair, which Sigyn encouraged him to take as she sat on the desk as she often did when teaching. ‘You all know that I have powers that I can’t use?’ She knew that was the line the school had always given, leaving it to the individual as to what they believed. ‘It turns out there was a really good reason for that, but you have to let me give you a little background. When I was young, I mean really young, just a kid, I had really vivid dreams where I was fighting mythical monsters with heroic princes, using magic and sword, and they were…amazing.’ She said animatedly and Loki smiled to himself. She was a delight to watch. ‘But then I reached my teens and, as a lot of you did, things changed.’ Loki noticed a lot of the pupils nodding their agreement, they knew what it was like, and as she hopped off the desk again and walked between the rows of desks she had their complete attention. ‘I started giving off powers in random bursts that left me unconscious. I couldn’t control it. Professor Xavier found me and brought me here, just like all of you. We tried for years to get my powers to behave…they wouldn’t.’ She laughed. ‘I lost count of how many times I passed out pretty quickly, and despite me being of no use as a mutant Professor X let me stay here and study, and then come back as a teacher once I finished college.’ One of the girls at the back of the class raised her hand slightly as she reached her and Sigyn gave her her full attention. ‘Sophie?’ ‘Why did your powers do that? Does Professor X know?’ ‘We do now.’ She nodded. ‘Good question, by the way.’ She patted the girl’s shoulder as she passed the girl she gained a proud smirk. ‘All we could put it down to before was that I lacked control, which is normal in the early days, Robert, put that gum away, but I never gained it, I could never stop my body shutting down whenever I used my powers, so we stopped trying.’ The boy who had been crinkling paper under his desk sat bolt upright when she caught him and handed her the gum as she held her hand out to him as she passed. Loki suppressed a laugh. She was such a natural with them. ‘A few weeks ago Professor X recommended me for a role at The Avengers Tower, being Loki’s guide to all things Earth. It was through this position that we met, obviously, but it soon became apparent something else was going on.’ Charles edged up to the door where he could hear Sigyn talking to the class, explaining what had happened between her and Loki in such a way that it was a matter of fact, and he beckoned her parents forward, as they had arrived early. They stood and watched as their little girl explained how they had discovered the truth behind her previous life, how Thor had known who she was from the moment he saw her, how Loki had helped her harness her powers once they realised what it was, offering a small display of what she was now capable of without breaking her speech; and finally how she and Loki had their second chance. She spoke so genuinely, obviously from the heart, her eyes drifting back to the man who would be her husband often, and his gaze never strayed from her, lovingly watching her every movement. It was so far from what they expected it surprised them, in a good way. Sigyn took questions from the class, answering as best she could, even Loki replying to the few directed at him, his tone never becoming remotely harsh or disdainful as they would have expected. Finally they all seemed satisfied with what they had been told and Ororo dismissed the class. ‘I didn’t mean to disrupt your lesson.’ Sigyn apologised to Ororo as she came fully back to the front, Loki standing as she did. ‘I am very glad you did. I would not have been able to have explained your absence so succinctly, and I do not think the class were the only ones to appreciate such honesty.’ She nodded across the room to the door and Sigyn turned in time to see her parents come in followed by Charles, now that the class had finished leaving. She stepped back into Loki, his hand falling on her waist automatically as she watched them for their reaction, not knowing how much they had heard, or how much they believed, but when her mom stopped halfway across the room and opened her arms welcomingly Sigyn couldn’t stop her feet from taking her forward, didn’t want to try, and before she knew it she was in a tight hug with both her parents, each of them speaking softly about how sorry they were, how they were willing to try and accept these changes, and it was enough to make her well up, her throat constricting with so much positive emotion. Ororo left the room and diverted her next class to the nearest exit; it was a nice day and they could take this one outside; Charles closed the door, allowing privacy for this moment and joined Loki at the desk, each of them waiting patiently. Eventually Sigyn released her folks, sliding her hands down their arms to take their hands and pulling them with her towards Loki. ‘Mom, Dad, this is Loki. Officially. You need to get used to him because he’s not going anywhere.’ Loki bowed his head and offered his hand, and to her surprise it was her dad who took it first. ‘You take care of her and we won’t have a problem.’ ‘I intend on doing just that.’ Loki promised. ‘Told you.’ Sigyn smiled at him, despite the tears staining her cheeks. ‘You were correct, as always, sunbeam.’ He smiled at her before raising her mom’s hand to kiss her knuckles. ‘It is truly a great honour to meet the couple who brought my beautiful Sigyn back into the realms.’ ‘Sigyn?’ Her dad looked at her curiously and she shrugged. ‘I like it.’ ‘You’ll always be my little Maia.’ He said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. ‘I guess I will.’ And she realised it was something she wouldn’t change, something she would happily keep. Maia’s family deserved to keep her as that, even though she felt more like Sigyn. She didn’t mind, she rather liked it. She had been lucky to have both lives not only with family who loved her but with the same man, who loved her unconditionally.
