Finally began something I'd been planning to do for a long time and started rereading The Book. By The Book, of course, I mean The Lord of the Rings - The Book that changed my life forever when I was 12 and three quarters years old. I'm part of the last generation that discovered the books before the movies were made; so I had about three years to obsess over them in my little corner and build my version of Middle Earth in my head.

Since my blog need more regular posting, I thought it'd be a good idea to try and accompany this reread with regular fanart, focusing particularly on scenes and characters that are not in the movies. For now, I've just reread the first two chapters so my first humble offering will be an attempt at portraits of young Bilbo, old Bilbo, and Frodo - as well as Fellowship's very first and not least frightening antagonist, Lobelia Sackville-Baggins!

The story is coming to an end, and there’s so much you want to say, but you can’t find words for any of it, and yet the silence says everything and more

(And Merry and Pippin don’t start singing until they take their leave of Sam, almost as if they were being considerate of his feelings first, but as they go and you hear their voices in the distance you get the sense that everything is going to be okay)
