Household is a Roleplaying Game about Littlings, little folks living grand-tiny adventures in a big abandoned House. Set in a regency-like era, 100 years after the disappearance of the Master, Household features an immersive lore that takes players into a unique setting.
Winner of the Roleplaying Game of the Year in 2019 in Italy, Household is the latest game by the ENNIE Awards nominated authors of Broken Compass, Riccardo Sirignano and Simone Formicola, and is beautifully illustrated by Daniela Giubellini.
Tumblr media
Players of Household take on the role of littlings, little beings of the Little Folk from European folklore. Together, these littlings will go on to live little great adventures that span over five of the most troubled years in the history of the House, beginning at the end of the First Household War and living in the shadow of a new threat. It was a magical period when all Folks came together in new alliances despite old disagreements, a time of ideological and industrial revolutions. All this, while always on the brink of a diplomatic incident.
Household is an RPG that uses small pools of six-sided dice to determine the outcome of uncertain actions and events. When rolling dice in Household, your goal isn’t to roll the highest or lowest possible total, but to combine as many equal symbols as you can in pairs, three-of-a-kind, and so on.

The QuickStart Guide is available for pay what you want on DrivethruRPG so you can try the system right away! Additionally, the Core Rulebook, Practical Guide to Living in the House, and the Saga of the Fragile Peace Campaign book are available for purchase as PDF and preorder for Print! In English or Italian.

Pierre Dubois: The folktales trilogy
Do you recall my posts about Pierre Dubois? Probably not, because I made them a long time ago, and I got a lot of new followers in between. To catch up to the news I invite you to go read my introduction post which presents who the man is and why he will often pop up on this blog: here
I already made several posts about his works, opinions and collects before. For example, I made two posts about his "Encyclopedia of Fairies", one about the fairy godmothers, and one about the Lucy-Cinderella-Sleeping Beauty theory. I also evoked him in my post about the French fairytale called The Ogress Queens, and I reblogged a post about one of the comic books he created, about a changeling child in Victorian England fighting off Spring-Heeled Jack. Yes, the man has been busy.
And among the several book series he published, he notably did a very famous trilogy of "contes" - that is to say three large volumes collecting fairytales, folktales and additional fantastical/magical short stories and pieces of literature, from all origins and sources - some translated for the first time in French. They were illustrated by the same artist who worked on Dubois' own three Encyclopedias of the fair folk (Lutins, Fairies and Elves) - but unfortunately they have not to my knowledge been translated into English or even published outside of France. That's a sad thing, but we in France have tons of cool stuff foreigners do not have.
The trilogy began in 1997 with the book "Les contes du petit peuple" (Tales of the Small Folk/Little Folk). This is the consecrated expression designating all sorts of short-sized supernatural beings of legend and myths: dwarfs, gnomes, goblins, leprechauns, imps, and local well-known French creatures such as the lutins or the korrigans. As you can guess, this was because the theme of this collect was "Fairytales and folktales involving small supernatural beings".
Tumblr media
It was followed in 1998 by "Contes de Féerie" (Tales of Faerie / Tales of Fairyland), whose new theme was - as you can guess - fairies. And in a wider scope enchantresses, nymphs and other female supernatural beings. (The only online picture of quality I could find for the cover has very saturated colors, sorry for that)
Tumblr media
It was finally closed in 1999 by the last folktales and fairytale collections: Contes de Sorcières et d'Ogresses, Tales of Witches and Ogresses.

I was writing up a post to help encourage folks who’ve always wanted to start a webcomic to dive in- and that they shouldnt have to fear ‘being perfect’ to start one And as I was going along, it made me sad to realise that.. there is an expectation now in the webcomic sphere, as much as I want to deny it (and that it should NOT stop folks from creating!!! please keep creating, no matter your level) I’m bummed out about the changes in the webcomic sphere over the past 5 years, i’m disappointed that there has been changes to this medium that was KNOWN for all of the different skill levels and flavours of so many different creators. I want to combat that. I want to see more beginner art, I want to see that excitment and embracing of growth. I want to see what made webcomics so accessible to so many creators and readers flourish again. Hopefully, if you see this post, and you’ve always wanted to make a webcomic but felt you weren’t ‘good enough’ : Make one anyways. Have fun even if you don’t know all the ‘ins and outs’ of comics. Make one because you’re obsessed with your characters and you wanna share them with the world. Make one just because you can, and not because it has to fit in some impossible standard we’ve forced onto ourselves because of the changing landscape. Start one, and have fun doing it for YOU!

Heyo, I'm Carter Emery [He/Him], and this is my sideblog for my story/world, The Fae Grounds!
It's a story about little Faefolk, inspired by things like Epic, The Borrowers, Secret World of Arrietty, Spiderwick, and more. With Species of Fae made up by yours truly!
I'll mostly be reblogging aesthetics and inspo, since I'm a bit nervous sharing my own stuff, but I hope to have a good time!!
