Silly little thoughts on the suckening characters from the first episode- spoilers below :)
Emizel-
His design is really good, and his general personality is pretty fun as he seems to genuinely care about the people around him and his friendship with soda is really sweet but he is also ready to go beat people up at any given moment
His fight with the guy in the alley was pretty interesting, with him getting bitten and turning
His personality is also pretty different from other characters condi has played so I'm interested to see where he takes emizel
Shilo-
Definitely my favourite of the three, his voice is really good and his design is also great
He's described as looking a lot like emizel which is interesting. I suppose the papers mentioning the car repair shop could be related? Although that wasn't meant to be vampire territory as far as I know
I feel pretty bad for him given the whole being locked up his whole life and never being allowed to leave his room without supervision thing
But also he is clearly fine with murder which might be connected to how he has been raised with the knowledge that people can be killed for just speaking to him wrong idk
He's definitely going to struggle with being outside of the castle
His mother seems pretty interesting too, given that she is willing to use magic on her son to keep him quiet about whatever she is hiding which may be an issue if shilo ever wants to tell the others about what he found , although she does seem to be upset about it
Also gref(?)my beloved he's so silly
Arthur-
Once again, very cool design
Big fan of the cat, grizzly seems to end up giving his characters some sort of animal companion(sunny, bobo, now void) a lot
I thought he'd end up being a pretty intelligent character but then he goes and breaks down a door and suffocates a guy very loudly lol
His encounter with the cowboy vampire was interesting as well, he seems reluctant to associate with other vampires
Very curious as to how he will end up interacting with the other two

Chapter 53: Is This the End?
This is the final chapter of this story. I truly love these characters and will hopefully continue writing adventures for them. Thanks for everyone that stayed with this story! This is the way!
We went to talk to the Armorer.  After explaining what we wanted, she asked Din to remove his helmet for her, so she could look upon his face as a new man.  She seemed quite pleased with our decision and helped us settle into our new quarters.
Grogu also seemed excited, although we weren’t sure he fully understood everything.  But for him, life was a rollercoaster, so most things were fun to him.
I let my mom know what was going on, and she also seemed more pleased than usual.  She even wanted to come and visit!  Come to find out, she sold the ship we gave her for a ton of credits.  She paid everything off and was able to work when she wanted to, not that she had too.
Greef was happy for us too, although he said he would miss having the reinforcements readily available.  We were still allowed to go help fight when absolutely necessary, so he seemed content with that.
After deciding to become a clan of three, we had our vows down by the living waters.  I didn’t know 90% of the people that attended, but at that moment, when we said our vows, Din officially removed his helmet in front of everyone to kiss me and seal our relationship.  It was at that time I met Bo Katan, who I knew a lot from others’ stories.
She was very stoic like the rest of the Mandalorians, but seemed genuinely happy for us, as was everyone else.  Mom was able to make it in and a few other of Din’s friends came as well.
He introduced me to Cara Dune, Fennec and Bobo Fett, amongst others.  They seemed so happy for him, and he walked around with the biggest smile on his face as he greeted everyone and introduced me.
We were allowed to take a post marital vacation, just Din and me.  We went back to Naboo, just the two of us.
It was a week of indescribable feelings, intimacy, and love for each other.  I wouldn’t have had a more amazing time if I hand wrote it out myself.  Truly, there are no words.  We were on cloud nine and nothing could ruin this bond between us.
After returning from paradise, I was also recruited to be a teacher of sorts, with apprentices.  Mine were to work with the older ones though, to help them read their environments, fight and be proactive in every way possible.  It was amazing to see these kids grow!  Grogu would eventually be in my class, so that will be special.
Din ended up being one of the most beloved trainers in all of Mandalore.  He did work with everyone to be able to take apprentices out on little adventures with him that he was permitted to do.  He also worked with the Republic on one off situations, and not as a hired hand under the table.
We still didn’t know who was going after Grogu’s blood, but like the Armorer said, it didn’t really matter because there would always be people from the Empire still trying to unlock Jedi secrets.
Grogu ended up being a big brother to our new addition.  We had a girl and named her Dyna.  Very early on, she and I had a bond, so I knew she had abilities like my own.  We talked at length about sending her over to Luke to be trained as a Jedi.  We still haven’t made that decision, but we do plan on making that trip to Yavin to discuss options.  We knew what it would mean for us, to give up our daughter, and I wasn’t ready to make that decision.  Din understood.
I would like to say after all this, we lived happily ever after, but that’s not even close to the truth.  The truth is we had many more obstacles to face, loss to endure and frustrations to overcome.  But one thing I can say is that we couldn’t have done it alone and we were glad we had such a family to lean on.  Without them, our outcomes would be different.
What will our next adventure be with a toddler son and less than one year old to raise up?  I can say that Din is an amazing father and an even better husband.  All that story can be for another day.  Until then, may the force be with you.

Important update:
Thank you so much to everyone for their prayers and continued support. My husband and I finally have a home again. It's been an absolutely insane few weeks. I'll spare you the details, but my husband might tell you about it if you ask him. For someone like him who's moved a bajillion times in his life, even HE thought this was the craziest moving experience. But as insane as it's been, we are finally beginning to rest a little bit and regain our strength bit by bit. There's still more unpacking to be done, and we are sad that we couldn't keep our beloved cat Bobo...but we took him to a very safe and happy place---a no-kill kitty shelter, where we've been told that while he was depressed at first of us leaving him there (</3), he has become vocal and loving, which sounds just like our Bobo. It is likely we may never see him again...unless he never gets adopted out and we happen to move in another place within the next few years that allows dogs and/or cats. It was absolutely heartbreaking to give Bobo away, but it's 100% a miracle he ended up at that place. They have the sweetest people caring for him there, and he's making plenty of kitty friends too <3
So, long story short, my hubby @fractiouslemonofficial and I have officially moved into our new home---no roomates or pets this time---and regular posts will eventually return. I just dunno when exactly. This move took a lot out of us both, and I mean a LOT. So please be patient. .-. Or not, whatever. Ain't gonna make me recover faster.

Did You Know?
JRR Tolkien, of Lord Of Rings fame, came to despise the character most beloved by his fanbase? In fact, Gollum's widespread appeal was the specific reason why! Tolkien stated on multiple occasions that it was around the time that Finland nearly (narrowly avoided by just a single vote) changed their national flag to the phrase "Gollum not Smeggle", in black text on a white background that he truly realized his disdain for the character. "I simply cannot conceive of how anyone could like a fictional character enough to do this; especially not an inbred rat like Gollum."
In response to the widespread love of the character, Tolkien actually claimed to have written a particularly graphic and extensive death scene for the character, where the main characters beat him to a pulp for no apparent reason except that "Bobo Burgis or whatever decided he was too ugly and it was better just to kill him". Though Tolkien's publisher* at the time described the prose as "Some of the best prose [he] had ever heard" after Tolkien's private reading, he found the scene so disturbing that he removed it without informing Tolkien and replaced it with Gollum randomly, happily saying his own name, and randomly added that same phrase intermittently throughout the rest of the book.
While Tolkien was supposedly so upset about that, according to his wife, he "cried like a little bitch every night for the next month", he acknowledged the success of the catchphrase, (as well as its simplicity) and developed a machine that would pseudo-randomly insert the phrase throughout the rest of the text. While the initial usage of the phrase was enough to make it somewhat popular, it was Tolkien's decision to double-down on it (particularly the scene where he announces it in response to Bilbo's announcement of his undying love for Sam) that cemented it so strongly in public consciousness that to this day there is heavy debate as to whether, at the annual event 'GollumCon', attendees should be allowed to say anything other than "Gollum :)".
*It is worth noting that this was actually the third publisher that Tolkien had gone to with his book, after the first two committed suicide, leaving no notes, after being sent the transcript. The last would also do this shortly after the book was published.

@bombawife's OC Week day 4: Family of a Canon Cat
Garbo hadn't spoken to Gus in years.
The day her little baby boy had been taken from her, she had lost half of her heart, and there was nothing that could be done to mend it.
Her human didn't want anything more happening to her, so she kept her away from the theater, tucked within their home like a prisoner, and Garbo simply wallowed.
Of course, she thought of her darling Gus every single day, she thought of her darling kitten every single day.
She wondered what they were doing, if Gus had met the little tom, if he told stories about her.
Then the day came.
Her human, an elderly, stiff woman with a failing heart, left her in the care of her child. The child was a soft-spoken, kind-hearted man, who had grown up seeing Garbo and Gus spending every waking moment together, and it had pained him to see the two separated.
So the day after his mother died, the man brought Garbo back to the theater. He patted her head, she gave him a grateful look that she hoped he understood, and he left.
Garbo was instantly swarmed by the theater patrons, one of her beloved leading ladies scooping her up and holding the older cat gently.
She was walked down a path she knew well, towards a tucked-away nook in the lobby of the theater, and Garbo allowed the familiar, painfully missed scene to wash over her.
"Bobo?"
His voice had tears springing to her eyes in record time, and Garbo lifted her head to look at Gus, who was looking at her as though she was a ghost.
"Hello, darling."
The smile Garbo had fallen in love with so long ago spread over Gus' face, and he approached her, nuzzling her cheek with a gentleness that made her heart ache.
The two cats reunited, purring and relearning scents. There was no need for words. There would be time later, of course, and Garbo would attempt to apologize, but Gus would hush her with a kiss, already reassuring her that nothing of what had happened was her fault.
For the time being, however, the two were content to wind around each other, tails twisting, cuddling in the warm den that once again felt like theirs.
"Dad, Jelly and I were wondering if you'd want to come for a visit in the Yard today?"
The new voice made Garbo's head snap up, and her eyes widened as a young tom entered the den. Her heart lurched as she took him in, the way his markings matched her own, the way his eyes glittered so similarly to Gus', the way he carried himself just like Gus.
She looked back at her beloved theater cat, and he gave her a warm, reassuring smile as he pressed against her side.
"Bobo my love, this is Asparagus." Gus said, joy nearly spilling out of him as he looked between his returned mate and his son. "Rag m'boy, this is Garbo."
There would be more tears later, as Asparagus would tuck himself between his parents like a kitten, listening to Garbo explain through her soft sobs what had happened.
Asparagus would introduce his mother to Jellylorum, a sweet, no-nonsense queen she would immediately adore.
Later, Garbo and Gus would be introduced to two sets of twins, Tumblebrutus, Pouncival, Coricopat, and Tantomile, and hearing the kittens calling them "Gran" and "Granddad" would make the two old cats beam with pride.
But for now, Garbo met the eyes of her son, the cat who she thought she would never see again, and she smiled.
"Hello, Asparagus."

Encanto Fanfic Recs
Tumblr media
I love making fanfic rec lists and I’m excited there’s enough on my Encanto list to start one. I will continue to add as I find more.
Tiles on a Roof by @avatarvyakara
Summery: A series of one-shots set among the family Madrigal.
Notes: love every single one of these. Very in character. Read everything he writes, you won’t regret it.
Rumble Thu Bellyful! by @cheetee
Summery: Everything is perfect between Mariano and Dolores. There's just one thing: every time their relationship comes up, it starts to rain. Why doesn't Pepa Madrigal seem to approve of her new future son-in-law? Fortunately, Mariano is determined to earn her trust. And he's found just the solution. There's definitely no way that this can go wrong.
Notes: THIS FIC!!! The characterization of every single character is absolutely spot on!! I laughed so much reading this, my heart melted and I can not wait to read it again! So so good!!
A Gift By Any Other Name by newfallenleaves
Summery: They’d all had such hope, when Mirabel did not receive a curse. But Casita does not take well to defiance. And she is not willing to give up her thralls so easily.
Notes: Encanto as a horror movie. Such a good, fun twist.
When the Cats Away by @cheetee
Summery: Tío Bruno is in charge, and he's banned Camilo and Mirabel from saving Encanto.
Heavy Blanket by between
Summery: The first time Camilo remembers seeing snow, he's three years old and his mamá won't come out of her room.
When It Rains, It Pours by by Wolfsong6913 & Word_Addict
Summery: Felix never used to like the way Pepa's weather was out of control whenever she was pregnant. He soon learned that it never lasted for as long as he'd like.
A Little Light To Make Us See by wolfsong6913
Summery: All is well, the Casita and their gifts are restored, and the Madrigals couldn't be happier. Most of them, anyway. Camilo, however is upset at how he and his family treated Mirabel for years. He can't forgive them, and he refuses to understand. The candle is going to make him.
Something Unexpected by @wikluk
Summery: Julieta has a small request for Antonio but she didn’t consider just how much influence Camilo has on his younger brother.
Notes: this is absolutely delightful and adorable.
Middle Child Syndrome by @atomic-bobo
Summery: Casita is rebuilt, the family is healing, a perfect happy ending. Except no one had fixed anything for Camilo, and when he gets sick, the family finds out just how badly they have been neglecting him.
Chimera by bexii
Summery: Camilo has a slight identity issue and though he tries to hide it at first, the whole family rally to support him. Family fluff with emotional issues.
Tail of the Frog by @cheetour
Summery: Mirabel has a secret, Bruno has an incurable cold, and Camilo and Antonio have a mystery to solve. Julieta... has too much to do.
Ugly Lips by @lariskapargitay
Notes: Absolutely heartbreaking. Please read trigger warning
I'll brick by brick rebuilt us (out of how's and why's not when's) by @acewithapaintbrush
Summery: Rebuilding a house doesn't fix everything. The Madrigal children have been struggling for a long time and they will keep struggling. But thankfully they now have a tio by their side who knows what it's like to feel the walls closing in on you.
Home Sweet Home by fichistory
Summery: The Casita has fallen and Mirabel has to process it.
To Summon A Goddess by @themorgtician
Summery: After centuries of searching, the last members of the Cult of Pachamama has finally found the vessel of their beloved goddess. It comes in the form of a weather-gifted redhead named Pepa Madrigal. Now that they’ve found her, nothing will stop them from completing their goals. Not even her family.
Dance With Me by @julietaswifey
Summery: Julieta and Agustín return home after a night out together. Drunk on wine and each other they try not to make too much noise, and of course they fail miserably
La Verdad de La Sangre by Elli_Lite
Summery: Camilo Madrigal thought that Mirabel only had a bad day. Make her laugh a little bit, give her space, and she was back to normal. It was easy to forget. Little did he know that her bad day would lead to a murder, two marriages, multiple children, and then a double homicide fifteen years in the making.
Notes: I read this then immediately reread. Just wow!! Warning this is a dark fic and touches on lots of subjects that may be uncomfortable so read the tags. But Isabela in this fic slays me. And the voice of Camilo is so perfect. I’m ready to reread this again just talking about it.
How Abuela Became an Abuela by @wifeofbean
Summery: Multi-chapter fic depicting the births of each Madrigal grandchild. (All chapters rated T except chapter 5.)
Notes: This fic!!! So many emotions. Also I declare every chapter as canon.
Beautiful by @wifeofbean
Summery: Luisa doesn't know who she is without her Gift; Agustin does his best to reassure her.
There’s rue for you by @wifeofbean
Summery: Julieta's knowledge of herbs extends beyond her magical Gift, and she helps where she's needed.
If I Seem Too Serene, Torture Me by @wifeofbean
Summery: NSFW. Julieta and Agustin drink together, have some fun, then have some more fun the next afternoon. Smut.
Notes: if it’s not obvious you should definitely read all of their fics cause ❤️❤️❤️
Birds of Paradise by @cheetour
Summery: With the mountain pass open, the outside world is now open to the Encanto. Isabela is wearing women's pants. The Madrigal uncles are starting a college fund. But when a mysterious scientist arrives in the Encanto, claiming to be in search of a rare bird, Mirabel can't shake the feeling that something terrible is going to happen.
The Waiting Game by @mm-so-this-is-love
Summery: While Casita is being rebuilt the Madrigal family moves in with generous villagers, but the lack of privacy starts to wear on Pepa who just wants some alone time with her husband.
Sunny side up by @patron-saints
Summery: pepa's anxieties about the new baby seem worse than normal, so julieta does what any good sister would do and makes her a midnight snack.
Protective Instinct by @sokkas-first-fangirl
Summery: Five times Pepa protected Bruno, one time she didn't and one time Bruno returned the favour
Thread by Thread, Side by Side by @inkquillery
Summery: Mirabel Madrigal ran away in the direct aftermath of Casita's fall, and during the three years she stayed away, here are the five times someone found the wayward Madrigal in Casita's kitchen with a first aid kit... Plus the one time everyone found her.
Dying (of embarrassment but someone beat me to it) by @kirrithian
Summery: After being mortally embarrassed, Mirabel is hiding under her bed in the casita. Julieta and Pepa share stories to help her feel better.
Cross your fingers by @thisstableground
Summery: It's not that Mirabel wants to push Bruno into spilling all of his secrets within five minutes of coming home, it's just that she does think that maybe, possibly it might be a good idea to mention to his sisters and his mother that he's been living in the walls before they dig his hideout out of the rubble, especially now that all of the kids already know.
Patching the Cracks by @cakebedamned
Summery: Sure, the Madrigal house can fracture under pressure, but it wouldn't hold together at all if not for the family's love for each other. It's so, so, far from perfect, but that doesn't make it unimportant.
Leap of Faith by @solibri
Summery: casita falls and the subsequent morning that ensues, from camilo's perspective
The Price of a Miracle by baletetree
Summery: Alma Madrigal knows she isn’t long for this world. The Miracle, now more powerful than ever, needs a new Guardian—one with strength of will and insight, one who can harness the magic and push it beyond its limits... one who can be the Miracle itself. If only there was a better way than thrusting that particular responsibility onto a young girl battling through the trenches of puberty and other woes of adolescence.
Someone to Snuggle with by @pensandpizza
Summery: You can't be Fun Tio Bruno all the time. When Bruno is left in a foul mood after a night plagued with sleep visions, the only member of the Madrigal family that can help is the gigantic, dangerous carnivore that lives a few doors down.
The Prince of a Miracle by BaleteTree
Summery: Alma Madrigal knows she isn’t long for this world. The Miracle, now more powerful than ever, needs a new Guardian—one with strength of will and insight, one who can harness the magic and push it beyond its limits... one who can be the Miracle itself. If only there was a better way than thrusting that particular responsibility onto a young girl battling through the trenches of puberty and other woes of adolescence.
Notes: I love the way they write Mirabel and OMG I have never fallen in love with OCC characters faster (normally I’m not a big fan.)
Milhojas by Queer_Of_Clubs
Summery: The origin of Julieta and Agustín's relationship.
A Change of Life by @mm-so-this-is-love
Summer: Julieta and Pepa have taken to comparing notes on their change of life symptoms, but something seems off to Julieta.
Clear Skies Forever by @foreveranevilregal

A Small Friend
Reader: F Character: Kōtarō Bokuto Rating: G Summary: You played with the gift in your pocket. It was wrapped in tissue paper with a sticker on it reading your boyfriend’s name, Kōtarō Bokuto. You had made it for him when he went to the qualifiers for the Japan Olympic Men’s Team.  Warning: Fluff Ask Box: Open | Check Out ThreadytoGoDesign | Join me on Patreon
Tumblr media
You played with the gift in your pocket. It was wrapped in tissue paper with a sticker on it reading your boyfriend’s name, Kōtarō Bokuto. You had made it for him when he went to the qualifiers for the Japan Olympic Men’s Team.
You did everything you could to make it as lucky as possible, every wish, prayer, ritual, you even put a small Pyrite stone in it. You crinkled the tissue paper as you walked through town with your hands in your jacket pockets.
You sighed to yourself, you had been working on this project for a few weeks now. It wasn’t perfect, you had just learned the skill to make it but you were eager to make something for your boyfriend. You were meeting at your favourite cafe, the one with the good coffee and delicious chocolate cake.
Bokuto knew he was on an athlete’s diet, but often one slice would be okay. At least in his books. As you approached, you saw him through the window with two cups of coffee in font of him. You smiled to yourself and with a pep in your step you quickly made it inside to protect yourself from the cold.
The silver haired man saw you and smiled. He beckoned you over and you slinked through to the back of the cafe and sat down across from him, taking off your hat and placing it on the table.
“How’s my beloved.” He smiled as you nudged the second coffee over, “Was worried you weren’t going to show up, you didn’t respond to my last message.”
“Oh, bobo.” You said, “I was underground and the train was delayed. I’d never stand you up, especially not now. The qualifiers are tomorrow, right?”
“Yep, bright and early!” He chirped, his hands gave a slight shake of anxiety, “Can’t wait.” But you knew he was rather nervous about the prospect of playing for the Olympics. That was why you wanted to give him a gift.
You took off your coat and slung it over the back of the chair before you gave your boyfriend another smile, “Thank you for the coffee, Bo. Cream instead of milk right?”
He nodded, “I remember from last time.” Bokuto was the type of men who bounced between overly sweet coffee or just plain black, it was determined by how wired he wanted to be. After becoming friends with Sakusa on the Black Jackals, he had taken a liking to tea in recent months.
He rubbed his leg against yours and rested his elbows on the table, “So you’re going to come to the practice match? They’re allowing partners and what not to come.” His smiled grew, “I’d love to have you there.”
“Don’t you get nervous when I’m at games? You say it makes your anxiety worse.”
He sighed, “I know, I know. But tomorrow is different, this is the next big step for us.”
  “You mean you.” You said.
He shook his head, “No, no, beloved, Both of us. After all you’re gonna be my wife soon so.” He dragged off. Bokuto wanted to get married literally a week after you met, but you told him to wait till after you graduated college, then you can start planning.
You chuckled and reached out for him, “Still about marriage huh?”
“Of course, why couldn’t I be?” He asked, “You’re my one and only!” He beamed, “No c’mon drink up, we’re celebrating with two slices of cake.”
“Oh wow, won’t the coach get mad.” You chuckled.
“I won’t tell if you don’t tell.” He then placed a finger over his lips for a moment.
You chuckled and said, “Well, I have something for you for tomorrow.” You felt your cheeks grow warm as you worried over if he was even going to like it. You saw him perk up and ask.
  “What is it?”
You leaned towards you coat pocket and said, “Close your eyes and hold out your hands.” Then plucked the gift out of your pocket.
Bokuto happily closed his eyes and held out his hands across the table. You hesitated for a moment to put it in his hands but eventually did. Watching him open his eyes to see the wrapped present.
He blinked at it for a moment, then his smile grew as he demolished the wrapping paper, leaving little specks of the stuff on the table, near his drink. What was revealed was a small crocheted bear with a sewn heart on his chest.
Bokuto didn’t say anything for a moment and became worried. Did he hate it? Did he think it was dumb?
“Do you-” You started before Bokuto interrupted you.
His eyes grew wide with excitement as he cheered, “I love it, baby!” Then crushed the toy against his cheek, “It’s so soft and squishy!”
You blushed more, “Are you sure it’s okay?”
“It’s more than okay.” He smiled as he looked at its little eyes with admiration, “Oh, I love it, baby. It’s beautiful, he’s going with me tomorrow for practice.”
“It’s meant to be good luck.” You said shyly.
“Well then of course he’ll have to come! I need all the luck I can tomorrow, baby! I’m sorry I couldn’t make you something as cool, but I promise to make it up to you.”
“Oh, Bo. You don’t have to.” You said shyly.
“No, no. I want to. Please.” He placed the bear down and reached out to you, he touched your hand gently, “When I get into the Olympics, I’m going to win gold for you as thank you.” Then gave you a grin, “I promise.”
“Alright, Bo.” You said, “You win gold for me and Mr. Bear.” Then smiled a bit at him. He just grinned and squeezed your hand before he went back to his coffee, idly playing with the toy as he talked with you.
You felt pleased with yourself and what you created. Bokuto’ reaction made your heart soar, maybe he was going to be a good husband. Not that you doubted it, but you could see yourself spending forever with him.

Hay 🌈 ☁️ ,
Is your health better now? Have you noticed BOBo has the habit of touching his bone pendent like auto reflex.i saw him search for his pockets always when so much crowd and camaras around him in airports(he used to search for pockets even it's not there in some of his attairs😂)
Have you seen this clip from SDC5 that he automatically searched for the pendent as a auto reflex to feel safe when he is scared! twitter dot com/wujisgay/status/1563516988898820097?t=C7NYBWZQmRsfV-3E51_hlA&s=19 .The bone pendent is so so dear for him! Aww.also No one gonna believe that he read that Himalaya ghost stories for hours ever
🙂do you have any precious thing with u as a sentiment like bobo has a bone pendent ?
Anonymous 2 asked:
Street Dance Spoilers. The way puppy plays with his bone after getting startled 😭
Hi Anons!
I am beginning to feel a lot better, thanks for asking. 💛
This is the clip they're talking about. I have to admit, my reaction was a lot like Anon 2's reaction. Sweet boy. 🥺
Sentimental things... hmm...
I'm actually a pretty sentimental person, so I have a lot of little mementos (a ring my mother always wore, feathers from my beloved bird who passed away last year, a memento of my father, a soft little willow catkin from the funeral bouquet of a close friend).
Even things not so heavily loaded with significance generally hold a lot of meaning for me. I have a bit of a 'Marie Kondo' view toward items. I don't tend to obtain or hang onto items that I don't feel a personal connection to.
But in terms of items that I turn to when I need comfort, that type of sentimental/comforting item, I have a plushie that I like to hold. I actually can't get to sleep without it.
It's not something most people around me would ever imagine of me, not something I would ever tell anyone IRL. Only those very closest to me have any idea. It's a bit embarrassing.
But I've always been like that, ever since I was very little. I've always had a plushie that was my comfort item. They've changed from time to time over the years (usually when someone decided that the tattered, falling apart grey blob needed replacing 😅), but there is always one in service somewhere nearby. And it's always just one. When I get a new one the old one is retired (and yes, I keep the old ones - there are only a few).
It's one of the things I appreciated most about GG in my early days of learning more about him. The fact that he is unashamed to be seen in public with plushies, that he carries them around so lovingly and shows them off on social media. It made me feel a lot less embarrassed about my plushies to see another guy who is totally fine and casual about it. 😅

Maybe I have been reading too many theories; maybe I just believe what I want to believe, maybe I’m completely wrong in all of this … maybe. But even if I am, even if WE ALL ARE, I really don’t think it that’s what matters anymore. This whole thing has been triggering from the start for so many people, and the CW has neglected to comment on any of it. At first, I didn’t expect them to. Supernatural wasn’t the first disappointing series finale in history, and it certainly won’t be the last; but so many new things have come to light since then. So many unexplained moments and conflicting stories have risen to the surface, and they obviously know how this fandom operates (the episode ‘Fan Fiction’ proves they do) so they couldn’t have been that surprised when all our questions started flooding the internet. Yet, the network has been silent, the show runners have been pretty silent. All we’ve seen is the complete lack of explanation paired with a few of the actor’s desperate attempts to defend their characters—which is heartbreaking because the characters and the actors HAVE NEVER BEEN THE PROBLEM.
I can completely understand why Misha sounded defensive and hurt in that video; because he sees this fandom that he loves and considers family, causing an online riot over something he’s personally involved in. It breaks his heart to see the LGBTQ+ community feeling rejected and attacked through the aftermath of a scene he filmed. He saw his departure as Castiel as a beautiful moment that supported queerness and speaking one’s truth, and now, something completely different has been extrapolated from that scene. I understand why that’s upset him … but sadly, I don’t think he quite understands how much bigger this whole thing is now. If the 15x18 confession was standing alone-- no other episodes to expect anything from, no more show to interpret, then I don’t think we’d all be hurting right now. We were all shocked and saddened when that confession happened, because Cas was gone only a moments later; but we were also elated that he was finally so open and honest, and that Dean heard him. He didn’t say “I love you too” but he heard him and he asked him to stay, he begged him to live. That would have been enough for me personally, but we had two more episodes to watch at that point, and we all expected that the show would find some way to honor that moment as well as the characters involved; but it didn’t. It barely acknowledged that any of it happened, and then it went on to ignore the entire series’ message of “Family Don’t End With Blood” by pretty much only focusing on the importance of the Winchester bloodline and nothing else. By doing that, it not only excluded Castiel and his breathtaking and beautiful confession, it felt like it excluded all of us. We all felt like part of that show—we all identified with someone beyond the brothers. We were its family, and it just-- cut us out.
So, when the Spanish dubbing happened, we thought “Maybe we weren’t supposed to be left out!” Maybe, just maybe … we were always meant to be there and something went wrong along the way. And the only place where all these conflicting stories, all these theories, all these mixed messages seem to meet—is at the CW network’s front door. But instead of answering when we knock and bang and scream for them to, they apparently stay locked up tight leaving the actors to feel responsible for us; and they’re not.
Misha Collins—you are not responsible for us or for our hurt feelings. You and Jensen and Bobo and the rest of the cast and crew did wonderfully and tried your best, and it seems like you fought for what’s right—you fought for us when you could. Whatever happened after that is NOT your fault, and we love you so much no matter what.
I want the CW to put this to bed. I want them to open the door and give us the explanation we’ve been asking for. If we’re all wrong, if this ending was always the plan (to some degree) then I think this fandom is mature enough that we can suck it up and walk away (we have before). But if there is anything, and I do mean any little detail that the network blatantly overlooked or pushed aside for the sake of ratings or money, then I think they need to own up to that so we can all move on. I know they won’t re-write the ending, and they won’t reshoot scenes; obviously that will never happen … but they can admit that for being a network that is supposedly “all about inclusivity”, they were rather narrow minded at times when it came to the finale of their longest running and most beloved show.
I don’t think that’s too much to ask, and I don’t think any more of the actors need to try and answer for them.

As a fan and a shipper, this is it, Saz. Misha is done with the show, Cas is dead, Dean won't probably mention anything about this and he is canonically straight at this point. Please don't get your hopes up.
You know... Untill last night I was actually more inclined towards your thinking. I’m happy to admit it. the negativity got me down. Misha’s various comments over the past year got me down. 2020 as a year, GOT ME DOWN.
I struggled with this over and over again for a long time. I was convinced that Cas was dying, and whilst I knew he would be back in 20, I was terrified that it would be some bit part right at the very end which had little relevance and that any happy ending for Dean and Cas was hopeless.
However there was always one little glimmer of hope in my poor bruised heart, and that hope was Destiel itself, because I always figured that if they actually went there with Destiel, then there was absolutely no way that they could end the season badly. Like, NO WAY.
But even after all these years of being a positive meta writer, and writing essay after essay on the validity of the Destiel interpretation of the text and believing with every cell in my body that Destiel was a real and true love story... I was still terrified. I was terrified that it wouldn’t happen, because there were plenty of reasons why it wouldn’t happen. Reasons I have been over several times before.
And yet I could never ignore my own eyes, my own logical observations and my understanding of story narrative and storytelling tropes, of production set up, of art departments and direction, cinematography and music, and everything that makes up a TV show. EVERYTHING ALWAYS POINTED TO DESTIEL.
So even though I was terrified, I still had faith in Destiel. Right up until the end. I had faith in Destiel and it was the only thing still giving me hope in a happy ending, because the way my logical brain works, I figured if they gave us canon Destiel, then a happy ending was very much on the cards. Even if Cas died after confessing, the very nature of storytelling would mean that it wouldn’t end that way, that Cas would have to come back, and that Dean and Cas would get the happy ever after they so desperately deserve.
When I went to bed last night, I was overcome with a sense of awe and fear. That the next morning I would wake up and I would know. I would know if I was right all this time, if over 6 years of obsession, passion, and dedication towards this love story was all worth it, or if we were destined for doom. Some of my friends tried to reassure me that even if it didn’t happen in this episode, it could still happen in the finale, but I’ll be honest, at that point I was adamant it was this episode, or not at all. I was TERRIFIED.
the thought occurred to me right before I closed my eyes to go to sleep, knowing the episode had already started in the states: “If it happens Sarah, then the ending will be happy. Cas will live.”
When I first saw the news this morning (I had asked my US friend Jen to send me a green and a blue heart in a text if Destiel happened so I would be prepared. No green and blue heart text would mean a social media blackout for me for another few weeks) my heart jumped into my throat. It happened. It’s canon.
Throughout the day today my emotions have been all over the place. From utter elation through to confusion and anger at some reactions, but also apprehension, because there are still so many people so negative and so certain that this was it for Cas.
But I realise now, that I do have far more hope that I thought I had, that those flutterings in my soul that awoke when I saw those wonderful green and blue heart emojis first thing this morning have now blossomed into butterflies of absolute joy. It wasn’t the scene from the actual episode that did this either, nope. It was Misha.
I thought I was so mad at him. Constantly going on about Cas’s death, and how sacrifice was the way he wanted to go out. I realised something as I scrolled through his likes on Twitter. It was all a fucking act.
Misha Collins. Troll extraordinaire. He well and truly pulled the wool over our eyes. He played up the doom and gloom to cover for the true surprise. The true secret ending that no one was allowed to even hint at. I completely and utterly fell for it, as did most die hard Cas fans. That utter bastard. :P
Nonny, please read my next words very carefully again and again if you have to, because I really hope that they sink in.
Misha is a good person. So is Bobo Berens. The two of them have been on Twitter liking Destiel tweets and effectively confirming it is canon - not that Cas is in love with Dean, no, that Destiel is canon. The difference, is that Destiel is requited love.
If it had ended in 15x18, if Cas’s confession, which left Dean stunned and unable to reciprocate, was truly the end, do you honestly think the gay man and the actor whose fanbase is massively LQBTQ, would allow one of the most beloved characters of all time, to FINALLY come out of the closet, confess his love, and then subsequently die and spend ETERNITY in SuperHell?!?
The fact that they were SO HAPPY WITH THEMSELVES. Because lets be honest here, Misha wouldn’t be liking all our dumb Destiel shitposting tweets if he didn’t know for sure that that happy feeling was gonna stick. Neither would Bobo.
This is just the start of the epic Destiel endgame. Castiel has said his part, now it’s Dean’s turn. I should have listened to my brain all this time. There is no way this ends badly. It just can’t. I refuse to believe it anymore. I’m finally stepping out of the dark and into the rainbow.
@tinkdw you were right all along.

*whispers* I still want to see Uncle Lan Wangji with his nephew Jingyi!
“Small!” A-Yuan whispers, tugging at Lan Wangji’s yaopei. “A-Die, he’s so little!”
The two of them are watching Lan Yi for the afternoon, since Lan Xichen is resuming his duties again and Nie Mingjue has returned to Qinghe; and Lan Wangji is officially still in seclusion, but well enough to tend his baby nephew for a day, so he was chosen to look after the child instead of Lan Qiren.
(Furthermore, A-Yuan teared up when his shugong offered to watch the baby, and Lan Wangji could never bear to watch his son cry.)
“En, he is very little,” Lan Wangji agrees, as A-Yuan draws one chubby little finger down A-Yi’s round cheek. “Be gentle, A-Yuan.”
“I’m gentle! I’m the most gentle,” coos A-Yuan. A-Yi shifts in Lan Wangji’s arms, smiling his delightful rosebud smile as he turns his head towards his cousin, and Lan Wangji cannot quite keep himself from leaning down to kiss Jingyi’s soft, soft forehead.
He loves his nephew so dearly that it hurts, sometimes. Lan Wangji spent the nine months of his brother’s confinement with him, and in all that time he could not perceive his future nephew as separate from Lan Xichen--for Jingyi was born of his xiongzhang’s golden core, and Lan Wangji was familiar with the warmth of Xichen’s jindan from his infancy--but then A-Yi came into the world, and into Lan Wangji’s life, and his heart shattered all over again at the thought of Wei Ying, who died for the chance to hold his own baby nephew just once.
How much did he love Jiang-guniang’s child, even if he never saw him? he thinks now. And how could he stand to be kept from her by the Jins, who were responsible for the Wens’ suffering?
He tries to think of being forcibly separated from Lan Xichen, knowing that his brother had married in his absence and was awaiting the birth of a child, and the mere prospect sends jagged spears of pain through every one of the thirty-three scars on his back.
Lan Wangji draws both children close to his heart and begins to weep.
“Don’t cry!” A-Yuan exclaims, while Xiao-Yi starts babbling in clear distress. “A-Die, A-Yuan is here! Bobo promised that as long as A-Yuan is safe with A-Die, A-Die can be happy!”
“I miss your A-Niang,” Lan Wangji chokes, pressing his lips to his son’s small hand and trying to feel the ghost of Wei Ying’s precious fingers there--Wei Ying’s hands, which held A-Yuan’s, and saved the little boy’s life and doomed his own all at once. “A-Die is sorry, Yuan’er.”
He does not deserve this beautiful child, who called Wei Ying A-Niang on that golden day in Yiling, and he will never deserve the chance to be A-Yuan’s father, not when that chance arose from his failure to protect the man he loved--and nor does he deserve the chance to be an uncle, when Jin Guangyao who surely had a hand in Wei Ying’s death is the only second uncle to Jin Ling.
But Lan Yuan is here, and Lan Jingyi is here, and to dishonor the great gift the heavens have given him would be tantamount to trampling on his beloved’s memory.
“A-Die?”
“Mm?”
“Can we go visit the rabbits?” A-Yuan asks. “They always make A-Yuan happy. And I want to show Xiao-Yi the one that’s bigger than him!”
Despite himself, Lan Wangji nods and takes A-Yuan by the hand.
“En, we can. Put on your coat, and we’ll go.”

Hello! 💕 Whenever you get the chance, could you do CG Albedo with Regressor Kaeya, please?
yeah, of course! funnily enough, our Venti and i have a canonmate who happens to be an Albedo fictive from another system. all of us plus their system’s Aether fictive were partners in teyvat, and it was often myself and Albedo who would watch over the others if they regressed. i’m not sure if i regressed then or not, but since i definitely do now, this was more easy than not to write out. hope this is alright! - Kaeya
Tumblr media
Little Kaeya (CG Albedo)
Kaeya doesn’t regress often because he usually feels bad for doing so
“.. Papa..?”
Kaeya is very very quiet when asking, but Albedo immediately knows what to do.
“Hm..? Has my little one decided to show his face today?”
The way he says it is so loving and reassuring that Kaeya absolutely melts
Albedo will give him a small smile whenever this happens
He’s usually doing something with his work, but he quickly makes sure to get to a point where he can safely stop so that he can provide his baby with the proper care and attention
He’ll usually tap his thighs and Kaeya will scramble up onto his lap for cuddles
Albedo finds this incredibly endearing and Kaeya likes the fact that he’s being cuddled
Kaeya usually calls Albedo “Bubba”, “Papa”, “Alby”, “Bedo”, or “Bobo”. Albedo adores every single one of these little nicknames simply because Kaeya chose them for him
“Come, my little prince; how about we get you something to drink? Alby might be working for a little bit, so we should at least grab you something to drink in the meantime.”
All the big words and sentences Albedo uses only make Kaeya feel smaller; they’re much harder to understand when you’re just a baby
Depending on how tiny Kaeya is, Albedo will grab one of his bottles or sippy cups and fill it with what usually ends up being orange juice
It keeps Kaeya quiet and contented while he works- which is, of course, quite a bit harder with your regressed partner on your lap, but Albedo never minds it
Kaeya is usually very cuddly and often ends up being very sleepy
Albedo, as per usual, always finds this incredibly endearing
Especially when it means that Kaeya ends up falling asleep in his arms while he’s working
“.. Sleep well, my beloved little one.”

OK, y’all, I’m back, finally, with Word of Honor Episode 8, and I have … a LOT of notes on this one. I’m trying to figure out how to organize this. Buckle up, I guess, because this is kind of a long one.
First of all, the usual warning: SPOILERS. This is a re-watch, so there are spoilers not only for this episode, but for the entire show. Scroll away and come back later if you want to watch all 36.5 eps unspoiled.
So, this is an ep that’s really good to me, because the found-family dynamic is one of the things that sold me on the show, and a ton of the ensemble work that builds and enriches that dynamic is centered on scenes about food and eating together, on literally nourishing the body(ies) of the family, from A-Xiang’s repeated instances of cooking bread on a stick over a fire, to fish soup with Ye Baiyi, to Wen Kexing’s elaborate New Year’s meal, and all the various and sundry restaurant sit-downs in between. Feeding each other and eating together is how these characters form bonds. Alternately, inability to provide sustenance or rejection of food implies distance. The point at which Zhou Zishu is still denying Chengling’s request to become his disciple, he’s unable to cook a fish properly for the poor kid to eat. Cao Weining falls in love at first sight and immediately buys A-Xiang not one, but two dinners, because the first one gets cold and he’s going to spend the rest of his life providing the best (emotional) nourishment he can for her. Paying for Ye Bayi’s meal earns a favor from him. When A-Xiang is separated from Wen Kexing and Zhang Chengling and Zhou Zishu, she eats up the little corn family she sees as representative of them, as if she can keep them with her by taking the food that represents them into herself. Despite the fact that Zhou Zishu is losing his sense of taste (evidenced by his ability to suck down wine that any and everyone else spits out in disgust), he continues to fully participate in meals, sharing food and both accepting and providing choice bits to Chengling and WKX at Siji Manor, in a scene that is possibly the most heartfelt domestic bit of the show. Rejecting (dramatically so) the table that’s been set for him by Prince Jin is symbolic of Zhou Zishu’s rejection of their relationship. And as we ultimately learn from Ye Baiyi’s storyline, eating is what makes us human, with all of our messy, painful, gorgeous connections to the world, in contrast to the icy seclusion of immortality. Which makes me feel some kind of way about the facts that WKX started out by burning A-Xiang’s mouth on too-hot porridge before he learned how to take care of her and was saved by her in Ghost Valley and that A-Xiang and WKX, who are both trying to find their way back to the human world from the world of ghosts, become the primary physical nourishers in their relationships with Cao Weining, Zhang Chengling, and Zhou Zishu. It also makes me feel some kind of other (ambivalent) way that part and parcel of the immortality Ye Baiyi achieves for a time and passes on is predicated on being willing to only eat and drink ice and snow, and the symbolic ways that separates you from the rest of the world and from forming the various connections we see forged through food.
All of which is to say that I’m delighted by this ep, where one of the first scenes is an extremely awkward dinner scene at the restaurant with ZZS, WKX, A-Xiang and Cao Weining, which not only plays into a lot of that, but is also comedy gold, and possibly one of the best scenes of the ep (and I say that knowing we’re eventually going to be getting to Han Ying, My Beloved). It’s hilarious how irritated WKX is by the mere fact of Cao Weining’s existence (JunJun, your little pouty face, it’s amazing). And it is triply hilarious how much of a whole-ass troll ZZS manages to be when he realizes the opportunity this presents. I’m not sure we’ve seen ZZS this cheerful … well, yet, at this point in the show, as when he’s just realized how much WKX clearly disapproves of this character who’s after his baby girl and how much of a chance this provides to fuck with WKX. It’s such an asshole move, but at the same time, it’s so weirdly charming to see him willing to play like this. It gives us a great character grace note right in the middle of the comedy - it’s the sort of teasing we see from him with Jiuxiao over the hairpin in Ep 1, and at the same time, it’s also kind of subtle, I think, in the way it calls back to almost the entire ZZS-WKX relationship up to this point. ZZS has clearly been paying attention – almost everything he says to Cao Weining is him giving up with both hands stuff that WKX has had to pry out of him with a crowbar. And it’s blazingly obvious that it’s deliberate. When he compliments CWN, ZZS comments that “it’s our fate to meet each other,” directly echoing what WKX said to ZZS in Ep 2. He waves off the price of dinner, telling CWN that “money is just a possession” after making WKX beg for his wallet and deploy the Sadness Eyebrows before he was willing to hand it over in the last ep. He immediately volunteers his name (or, at least, the name he’s using, Zhou Xu), and asks CWN’s in return. He waxes eloquent about CWN’s sect and background. WKX’s entire face journey through all of this is a delight to watch. ZZS repeats that it’s their fate to meet, and WKX’s eyes almost roll out of his head. ZZS invites CWN to sit and have a drink together, and WKX’s mouth literally drops open. Finally, when WKX learns that A-Xiang is not going to make this interloper go away because he’s her ticket into Yueyang sect, he orders her to go find his wallet (presumably knowing that CWN will follow her when she leaves). As CWN leaves, ZZS reassures him that making friends is “mostly about resonance,” and the implication I presume, is that there is resonance between ZZS and CWN (and yeah, in more ways than one, as CWN will be the ZZS stand-in as these two relationships grow more and more parallel), in contrast to a supposed lack of resonance between ZZS and WKX. I … am not entirely sure that this is just to fuck with WKX, although it’s definitely part and parcel of that, or if it’s a little bit of ZZS trying to convince himself, particularly given a moment later in the ep, which I’ll get to later. In which case, sure, A-Xu. You keep telling yourself that. You didn’t get off at ALL on him staring at you like you’re the most gorgeous thing on earth. Uh-huh.
Outside, A-Xiang and CWN have a little foodie moment together, and if there ever was a fandom that needed a food-truck AU, it’s this one. I’m SO glad that after A-Xiang and Cao-dage got married, they settled down together and opened that little restaurant just down the mountain from Siji Manor. (Shut. Up.) Meanwhile, ZZS and WKX continue to drink inside, now that they’ve gotten rid of the kids. They discuss Mo Huaiyang (:spits:), with ZZS calling him a “cunning old fox” and wondering what a big rabbit like CWN is doing in his den (owowowoOW). WKX promises to get A-Xiang to check on ZZS’s disciple inside Yueyang Sect – he kind of emphasizes that your disciple bit, like he doesn’t really care at all what happens to Chengling, nuh-uh. OK, my dude, you keep telling yourself that, I guess. There’s yet another discussion about Philanthropist Wen’s real motives, which he claims are to empty out hell, which is metaphorically taken to mean saving the damned, although he probably literally means razing Ghost Valley and maybe the jianghu along with it, as he warns ZZS once again that “the fiercest ghosts tend to disguise themselves as human.” And because everything has a triple meaning in this show, this also, again, is also, again, a warning about himself – that he may look human, but he’s not, really.
Meanwhile, Chengling’s been delivered to Gao Chong at Yueyang Sect, where he’s undergoing the worst kind of family bonding. We learn where ShenShen gets his sparkling way with people, when Gao Chong’s first move is to frown at Chengling, feel his biceps and want to know if he’s sick, because he’s such a weakling. We also see where ShenShen gets the yelling and threats of violence. Both Gao Chong and ShenShen put the press on Chengling for the Glazed Armor, as he continues to insist he doesn’t remember anything about it, while Zhao Jing continues to be the “reasonable” one, tearfully telling Gao Chong to be nicer to the traumatized orphan for the sake of his father, oh, oops, I didn’t mean to remind Da-ge of the estrangement with Mirror Lake that’s mentally torturing him now and make him so emotional that this conversation gets cut short, no really, that was not my intention at all, my bad. Sure, buddy. Anyway, this gives us confirmation that Zhang Yusen hadn’t been interacting with his Five Lakes brothers for a while before Mirror Lake was targeted. But never mind that, you can trust us, Gao Chong tells Chengling, and follows up by asking him: Besides us, who can you trust? Which does not actually sound that trustworthy, my guy, and I begin to suspect that Five Lakes Alliance is running things because you’re the biggest bullies, as not a single one of you seems to know how to be the least bit politic. Except for Awful Yifu, who’s not so much adept at politics as at skullduggery. ANYWAY, when asked who he can trust, we can see Chengling thinking “MY NEW DADS” like it’s lit up in neon over his head. We also see him continue to press or clutch the place on his abdomen where we previously saw his injury, so that’s still bothering him, and I can’t imagine why it might do that any time he has to argue with one of these Five Lakes assholes about the Glazed Armor, amirite? I do also notice, though, that he calls both Gao Chong and Zhao Jing “bobo,” which I think is a more familial term for uncle? as opposed to “shishu” for ShenShen, which is martial, and I’m not sure exactly what distinction he’s driving home by doing so, but there you go. Chengling is sent away to rest, and on leaving the hall he immediately gets bullied by Xie Wuyang, one of Zhao Jing’s undercover Yueyang twinks, before being rescued by Gao Xiaolian, daughter of Gao Chong. She takes him to his new room, which faces right onto the training grounds, because no one’s told him yet how much he needs to build himself up, right? And we get to see a bunch of little Yueyang shits who acted like good boys and promised Xiaolian to her face that they would train with Chengling but who then immediately turn around and start mocking him as soon as she goes away, so WKX’s assessment of how the jianghu is full of assholes continues to look kind of correct. What is Cao Weining doing in this whole hive of scum and villainy?
We get a brief detour here to go with Xiaolian to meet Cao Weining and A-Xiang, and she agrees to let A-Xiang stay with her, before a disciple comes to get her to help set up for taking Chengling to worship at the Five Lakes Alliance memorial. Xiaolian helpfully lets us know that this is weird, because it’s going to be dark soon. A-Xiang sneaks away and informs WKX and ZZS that this is weird, because it’s going to be dark soon. ZZS and WKX also spot some of the Tian Chuang Action Lanterns and surmise that some “feudal lords” seen outside the city are up to no good, so they go and skulk in the bushes along the road to the Five Lakes Alliance monument.
This is getting super-long, so I’m going to get right to the next important part, which is the bit where Han Ying (My Beloved) and his Tian Chuang forces have laid a trap for Gao Chong and Chengling on the way back from the monument, and they try to kidnap Chengling. Han Ying continues to be cold, haughty, and capable at his job right up to the moment when ZZS jumps out of the bushes to foil the kidnapping with his signature Swiftly Moving Steps and a frankly ridiculous bit of gauzy fabric tied around the bottom half of his face as a disguise. Han Ying’s instant change of demeanor is something to behold – he can’t even notice that WKX has him by the throat around the hearts in his eyes as he recognizes ZZS. Which, let’s face it, he ought to, because ZZS spent a decade and a half running around with all of these guys with the bottom half of his face covered, so you’d think more of them would recognize him, but apparently the Cover Girl bangs throw them off. Anyway, WKX grabs Han Ying and they use him as a hostage to get Tian Chuang to release Gao Chong, Chengling and a bunch of Yueyang disciples. Once everyone else is gone, WKX and ZZS drag Han Ying into the bushes, where he hits his knees ten times faster than WKX has yet for ZZS, so maybe it’s WKX’s own fault that he’s left standing around, ignored and vinegary. Han Ying is back to the puppy-dog he was around ZZS in Ep 1, and interestingly, the way Zhang Zhehan is styled here makes ZZS look more severe than he has in a while – he’s got a lot of his hair up in the high pony that looks a bit like the topknot from the front, all the rest of his hair is back behind his shoulders, and his bangs are pushed back out of his face more than usual, making him look more like his Tian Chuang self as he talks to Han Ying. Who he calls Ying’er, and omg, fuck you subtitles, for not including this because HE CALLS HIM YING’ER AND I’M DYING. (Also, oh god, I just realized that the Ying of his name is the same character as “hero.” Which, just, the simple fact of it, of course, but also it was used in the “hero saving the beauty/beauty saving the hero” (overdubbed) lip-read from Ep 6, and now I’m dying on the floor, because that’s kind of a weird little link between Zhen Yan WKX and Han Ying already. It’s likely coincidence, but it’s potentially USEFUL, yes, all my fic writers out there?) Anyway, Han Ying is desperately worried - he knows something’s wrong, because ZZS isn’t bothering to disguise himself with that awful fake face anymore to keep himself safe from Prince Jin’s spies, and also, HOW IS YOUR INJURY, MY LORD? (DO YOU NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE TENDER CARE OF YOU?) WKX continues to look vaguely uncomfortable about this whole thing that’s going on right in front of his salad. Han Ying swears he’ll do anything for ZZS. WKX clears his throat loudly to draw attention and suggestively asks if he should leave for a while. (I am not shitposting here, this actually, literally happens.) ZSS literally huffs in annoyance and ignores him. He tells Han Ying that he saw signs of Tian Chuang at Yueyang and thought they were after him. We can see Han Ying thinking, “No, if I’d known you were here, you’d have found me on my knees by your bedside waiting patiently like a good boy.” We learn that Duang Pengju (that asshole) has had Han Ying looking for the Glazed Armor since the Mirror Lake massacre, probably to take credit for anything he finds. Han Ying reiterates that he’ll do anything for ZZS, and ZZS tells him to stay out of all this, saying that what Han Ying can do for him is stay alive (well, OW).
After this, we get a scene of ZZS and WKX still hanging around by the side of the road after dark. ZZS sincerely thanks WKX for his help, and says he owes WKX a favor. WKX asks him what’s really going on with ZZS and Chengling. ZZS says that he couldn’t stand around and do nothing while this kid was in danger, likely stirring some Zhen Yan feels in WKX that we don’t officially know about yet, at this point. ZZS asks WKX, again, about his Weird Thing about the Five Lakes Alliance and whether it was a coincidence that WKX was at Mirror Lake for the massacre. WKX goes vaguely Ghost Valley Master wild-eyed and says of course not! before laughing and saying, “I followed you, remember?” He gets friend-zoned and follows up by asking ZZS, “Why don’t you ask what I think of you?” ZZS – pretty unconvincingly, tbqh – says he doesn’t care and stomps off, leaving WKX to stare after him soulfully and call him zhiji. Much like that resonance thing earlier - you keep telling yourself that, A-Xu. The next time we see them, they’re at the marketplace, probably the next day, and you remember that thing I said about bonding via food? We’ve come back full circle to that, too. Zhen Yan WKX is 7 years old again, he wants some reassurance that he is ZZS’s super-special friend, and he works his way through the marketplace making ZZS buy him every sweet thing to eat that he can find. Every time ZZS has to pull out his wallet, he makes this pissy little face, but he keeps paying. ZZS is hopeless at cooking, but if you can’t make your own, store-bought will do, WKX is craving reassurance, and as uncomfortable as ZZS is with how close WKX has gotten at this point, he continues to provide it. I also want to point out another censorship dub here, thanks again to AvenueX on Youtube: As they’re figting over the way WKX is spending ZZS’s money in this scene, when WKX tries to grab ZZS’s hand, and ZZS is all ‘”Don’t touch me,” the voice dubbing has WKX say that repaying ZZS is no big deal, he’ll just let ZZS order him around, with ZZS’s response being to tell him to get lost, then. OTOH, lip-read gives us, from WKX, that it’s no big deal, he’ll sell the rest of his life to ZZS, with ZZS’s response as a threat to sell him to a brothel, then. :hands:
Quick wrap-up from there: They go watch some exotic dancers, only there turns out to be an unexpected pile of heads in the follow-up magician’s act, which turn out to be from the guys who were in the “bridal party” at the Ghost Valley “wedding” a few eps ago, and everyone swears vengeance against the Ghost Valley. WKX and ZZS go to visit Chengling, who is supposedly sick and can’t see them, but they get introduced to Gao Chong. Gao Chong and WKX are weird at each other, and ZZS is increasingly suspicious. He’s got his thinky face on, and we don’t get any literally pokey fingers, but I can’t help but think there are some mental pokey fingers going on, as he turns over all the info he knows in his head. Then some Yueyang disciple comes shrieking in about a dead body, omg, death, destruction, death, and Gao Chong is all, Seriously? In front of guests? before we’re out.

As the World Falls Down
Read on AO3
They’re holding hands when the world starts to fall.
One moment they’re happy twining their fingers together leaning against the bar and the next Traci behind the bar is screaming ripping her hands into the flesh of a costumer a few seats away. The other customers start to scramble while John and Zee jump into action.
It doesn’t take long for them to realize it’s the screens. They get Traci under control trapped in the back room when a costumer walks in unknowing of what’s just happened, he takes one look up at the tv behind them and he’s gone. Zatanna destroys their phones and the set before he’s even begun leaping over the bar at them.
They move fast portaling to anywhere they can, picking up survivors and trying desperately to get them somewhere safe. Weeks, months pass. Beloved heroes fall, unexpected heroes rise. Safe places become unsafe at a rate faster than they can keep up with.
Hearing about the garden in Gotham is a godsend. Poison Ivy becomes their biggest ally welcoming in everyone they find who’s just trying to survive.
They’re holding hands when Doctor Fate finds them and gives them a way out, a safe haven just for people like them. The strongest magic must survive he reasons with them, but they stay strong a united front. They’re not leaving, they’re not running away. This is their fight.
They’re holding hands when they hear the news about Diana, and then again when they hear the news about Clark. Losing Clark feels like the end of hope, like maybe there is no winning a war like this.
So they just hold each other’s hands a little tighter trying to seem strong, trying to seem like they both still see a future in this world.
The more people they save though, the more they believe the lie they tell themselves.
“Are you certain you don’t wish to stay for a few days?” Ivy says handing off the latest survivors John and Zatanna have brought to her to Harley for the tour.
Zatanna sighs fixing her ponytail and looking over her shoulder at John trading a box of thin mints he managed to find out there for a carton of cigarettes. She smiles, some things never change. She doesn’t even try to slyly comment about his smoking habit anymore, every day they step outside is a risk of death anymore, a few cigarettes are pretty much guaranteed not going to be the thing that kills him.
“Not tonight,” she says with a shake of her head grateful and a little sad. Ivy looks at her sadly, but holds her arms open, Zatanna stepping forward into the embrace easily. She never expected they’d be such good friends.
“Be safe out there my friend,” she says before pulling back. She opens her palm producing a small carnation plucking it from her hand and slipping it behind Zatanna’s ear.
“Buying my girl flowers?” John says as he walks over slipping the carton of cigarettes into his inner pocket. “Flirting with my girl yet again, Ive’s.”
Ivy shakes her head fondly producing another flower and pinning it to John’s lapel.
“There, even now,” she says. She steps back grabbing one of each of their hands squeezing them once before dropping them. “Gaia knows I’m not flirting with you, John.”
John and Zatanna chuckle as she glides away, far in the distance Harley waves shouting out a goodbye to them. John takes her hand.
“Ready luv?” he asks and she nods, bringing up a hand and drawing a portal in front of them. They step through hand in hand into the study of the House of Mystery.
The house isn’t what it once was.
No longer does it travel from place to place and its size has at least been cut in half, more like down to a third. They’re not sure if it’s the lack of magicians left, the general weariness of the world or the fact that it no longer has to accompany a host of their friends, but this is all there is now. A study, a bedroom and a kitchen are all that remains. It’s the closest to a physical standing home they’ll probably ever have again.
John presses a kiss to her head and slips away tossing his jacket onto the back of the elaborate deep red couch. He falls down onto it wearily rubbing at the back of his neck. It’s quiet in here, too quiet because they can hear the sounds of the anti-lifers groaning outside. The magical barrier they’re combined strengths set up a few hundred yards away from the house never falls, but the sound barrier Zatanna placed on it only lasts so long.
She closes her eyes focusing her energy on the barrier outside. “Teiuq eht esion,” she says and silence falls around them. She can’t do anything about the view, well she could but it feels like magic wasted when they’ve got curtains that work just fine, but the noise she can do something about.
She takes off her own jacket throwing it on top of John’s as she rounds the couch and settles beside him, his hand still rubbing at the back of his neck. She moves to her knees shooing his hand away and replacing it with her own her fingers working slowly into the muscles there.
John groans pleased as her fingers continue to move.
“Better?” she whispers and he nods turning his head and smiling at her. Her hand slips from his neck and she settles down close to him.
“We should do another sweep of San Francisco tomorrow, check in on Bobo, see if he’s found anyone else,” he sighs falling back into the couch pushing his sleeves up to his elbows. The action draws her attention to a long cut sliding up the length of his outer forearm the blood dried around it.
Zatanna’s heart stops for a moment. She grabs his arm inspecting it closer her eyes going a little wide. No, it can’t be. She can’t lose him. The touch has him tilting his head back her way and he notices the look in her eyes immediately.
“It was the fence,” he says reaching out his other arm, bringing his hand to the side of her face holding her gently. “It was just the fence when I was pulling those last two kids through earlier, that’s all.”
Zatanna starts to breathe again. She touches the end of the of the cut and drags her finger along it a spark of magic trailing along with her finger healing the cut and cleaning the blood away as she goes.
She strokes at the clean unmarred skin. One day a close call scratch isn’t going to be easily healed.
“I’m okay,” he says softly pulling her in close wrapping his arms around her. “We’re okay.”
Saving people gives her back some of that lost hope. The garden and the way Ivy and Harley, especially the usually exuberant Harley, always welcome her in gives her back some of that hope. And being here in the remnants of the house that her silly ass boyfriend won in a poker game that’s still standing despite everything that’s tried to take it down with his arms wrapped around her gives her hope.
And hope, even if it’s only in little flashes, is a hard thing to come by in their new world, so they hold hands as the world outside tries to make something more out of what little remains.
