I'm seeing variations of this meme around again, so to today's (un)lucky 10000:
the "inside you there are two wolves" meme is racist. full stop. it was invented by a Christian pastor in the late 70s and attributed to the Cherokee nation, despite being completely made up. every native american / indigenous page I've ever followed denounces it as made up and racist, using their imagery to sound mystical and wise while ignoring the people themselves.
please consider using another format. try to use your guilt productively: I'm not calling you out, this is aimed at educating. You can't erase not knowing in the past, but you can elect to 1) not reblog these in the future, 2) delete any that are easy to delete, 3) help to spread education by following native people's accounts and news so that you hear this from them, not me.
Do you ever think about how horrible of a title "Batman's Greatest Failure" is? How degrading and dehumanising? Everything you achieved in life is forgotten and reduced to the way it ended.
You aren't a person. You are a failure. Your whole life is pushed aside and made a part of someone else's life story. You never mattered, if it weren't for that person you would have meant nothing at all.
Aren't you glad? Aren't you glad you are remembered as something? Even if that something is just saying your whole existence equals just to a mistake in someone's life? An old page that everyone is so desperate to forget. A lapse in judgement. A regret. The people you saved, the people you loved, what you did in life, none of that matters. All that matters is how another person was affected by your death. That is all you will ever be. Everything you did and didn't do will always be irrevocably tied to that person, for better or worse.
You are unable to exist without that person and the only way for you to exist is through his perception of you. The only way for others to see you is to look at you through his biased interpretations of who you were.
You weren't a child or a hero or a martyr or a son or a victim. All you ever were, and will be, is someone's "Greatest Failure".
Okay. I made that blessing wav I mentioned I would!
Involves lots of saccharine blessing, pet names, praising you for getting all your sneezes out, and comments on how good it must feel and how at one point you sneeze all over the place 💕
I know most of our focus goes (rightfully) to the trial songs, but I genuinely believe Baptism of Fire is equally a masterpiece of meaningful writing and intense vocal acting
Incoming tag rant because I need to yell about this, feel free to yell back
there's so many del conversations i really fucking love and wanted to put my own spin on before we get an officially cast delirium, so starting off with this fun one from kindly ones!
(i have also started a del themed tiktok bc i have a lot more audio/video stuff in the works, so if you're interested you can find this video cross-posted here)
A lotta folks were mad at Cody for "stealing Jey's shine," and I said nothing. I let yall be loud and wrong in peace. But now I'm really curious as to how that even made sense to yall??? Cody Rhodes has never and could never need Jey Uso to get over. Maybe if you're a die-hard Jey Uso fan, then yeah, he probably had to win you over. But the audience, the iwc? Indie fans??? Yeah there was not a single thing that Jey Uso did, for the brief moment he was paired with Cody Rhdoes, to make Cody seem any cooler than he already was and Jey damn sure didn't lend him more star power than Cody already had.
It was most definitely the other way around because Jey has practically no experience as a singles wrestler. He has no character. He has no story (of his own. Who is he post-Bloodline???). Naturally, you pair him with the top babyface in all of wrestling right now to help ease him into being on his own since he has been a tag wrestler his entire career. I will not mention that the first attempt to pair him off initially started with Sami Zayn. But Jey has done little to prove himself as a singles wrestler. He's done the bare minimum to prove why he should be in the main event scene. His matches drag on, his style of wrestling isn't very impressive or something we havent seen before, and his wins are hardly believable or noteworthy (his matches against Roman notwithstanding ofc, those were epic). I've seen fans mad at Cody for how beloved he is when it is clear that people haven't taken a moment to approach his character or career with any kind of genuine respect or attention because one glance at his resume would let you know that while he may not have always been The Guy™️, he was always The One™️ and very rarely disliked througout his career. Cody is not where he is by accident. it's by design. So, to accuse Cody of capitalizing on Jey's surge in popularity is laughable at best and truly perplexing at the most as Cody outshines and outworks him by miles. No shade. All tea.
This isn't really that big of a critique of Jey as it may seem, I mainly just find find him to be indistinguishable as a wrestler and entertainer on his own, I think he has so much more to offer but I'm truly not sure how much longer I'm gonna stay around to find out.
What if Kaiba and Kisara swapped hair for a day? Either color or style (or both!)
IM A WHITE HAIR KAIBA TRUTHER I think he CANONICALLY has a white hair phase around 16, in his High School years -or Duel Monsters years- because how could he not, hes already deeply proud and satisfied about his Blue Eyes Blue Eyes connection (makes him feel like its fate he gets these cards (LMAO boyyy you have no clue)) so he'd definitely have a white hair phase like this
and with Kisara, im pretty sure some fics had her dying her hair to not stick out, to draw less attention post traumatic experiences, but i just wanted to fantasize about a situation where she takes up HIS coloring just for them to further own each other. why not. theyre crazy anyway. why not
fun lil watcher/listener hc thats been revolving round my brain for a while is that they can cause hallucinations for ppl in a radius if they focus, visual for watchers and auditory for listeners. it would be a fun lil explanation for martyns silly creeper sounds in 3rd life which i think is where this came from 💀
The biggest recommendation I can give on writing dialogue that sounds in character for the character to say is, not to read the quests they are in, but to listen to the English dub whenever you get the chance. This may seem difficult especially if you are used to playing it in another language, but listening is key to getting the vibe of a character down. What you pay attention to is, not what they say, but the cadence in which they say it. Pay attention to the emotion in their voice, the speed at which they say things, the volume, etc. Once you get this down, it becomes easier to get an idea of what “sounds” right and what doesn’t. Cadence is an especially powerful thing. By training your ears to a character’s cadence, you can get a better idea of which words they would prefer to use, the lengths of their sentences, and things of the sort.
For example, reader asks Zhongli to dinner and he accepts. How would he respond? “Hmm, I’m not busy this evening, so I accept. Thank you for the invitation.” But that doesn’t sound right, does it? Is Zhongli the type of person that uses many contractions? I don’t think so, so let’s fix it. “Hmm, I am not busy this evening, so I accept. Thank you for the invitation.” But would he say “I accept?” Perhaps, but it still doesn’t sound right. How has he accepted proposals in the past? A bit of research shows he has said “sure.” How can I mix that in? “Hmm, I’m not busy this evening, so sure. Thank you for the invitation.” But hmm… the second sentence doesn’t sound right. What else could he say instead? “Hmm, I’m not busy this evening, so sure. It would be my pleasure.” That sounds a lot better.
Some people may ask why you can’t do these things while listening to another language. Personally, I don’t believe you can. If you are not fluent in those other languages, your ears are not properly trained enough to understand the nuance of the ways they speak. The correct emotion and tone will come through, yes, but you still won’t be able to intuitively know what sounds right and what does not. You only will get this sense by listening to it in the language you choose to write in.
The only downside to this is that your writing will become based upon the English translation of the game. As many people know, the portrayal of characters in English often does not completely match the portrayals in Chinese. This is especially so for characters like Zhongli, Xiao, and Kaeya. A lot is lost in the translation and dubbing process. Characters do not vibe the same. Thus, your portrayals will be more true to English, but not how it technically is “supposed” to be. Personally, I don’t necessarily believe this is a bad thing. However, it is something that can bother people. The only way I can imagine getting around it is by playing the game with the Chinese dub and by following accounts that speak Chinese and can give insight on the literal translations and what they mean and imply.
in fairness given zun's kinda vague about the exact nature of a shikigami you can absolutely think i'm completely wrong. you can have your own ideas you like better. but those are what my ideas are, and i like them. they have a certain Crunch
