01) Favourite game of the series?

DA2/DAE, this game always makes me cry and go like an emotional bastard.

02) How did you discover Dragon Age?

Mainly I wanted something LGBT-related so I discovered the ME series and stuff, then when it was kinda lackluster I heard that DA in comparison had better stuff so I DIRECTLY installed DAI with cosunter in the house, created the first Inky aka Tanaka Treveylan and ever since I fell in love with its lore and stuff <3.

03) How many times you’ve played the games?

A lot to the point I forgot, I think more then 200+ hours on DAI alone and like 7 different playthroughs in DA2/DAE.

04) Favourite race to play as?

Qunari !! I mean I love elves but horns hnnnnng.

05) Favourite class?

Mages (Plus points if Mage Warrior with the arcana sword) but double dueling rouge comes REALLY close to it, I would say Warrior with shield is a third.

06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?

I try my best to play differently even if it hurt at times, but there’s some stuff I would never do (Rival anyone in DA2/DAE, turn down anyone in DAI)

07) Go-to adventuring group?

DAO: Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana or Leliana, Shale and Zevran.

DA2/DAE: Aveline (I need TANK) Anders and Merrill or Aveline, Fenris and Isabela.

DAI: Blackwall, Dorian and Sera or Iron Bull, Cole and Varric.

08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?

I would say my Cousland aka Deltev Cousland, He has a completelt different face morph, his personality is rather off-canon (Romance Nate and has children by DAI) So there’s a lot of thought put into thay bastard.

Leliana and Zevran (also Morrigan dnnsdn), Isabela and Anders, Josephine and Dorian.

10) Have you read any of the comics/books?

I think I’m up to date with modt things, want to go one though.

I would say the racism from the writers themselves whether whitewashing or the treatment of elves...

Yes they all co-exist ! (Although in DAO my Cousland and Sabrae would die if my Surana was chosen :() but in DAI the two Treveylans are cousins, the three Lavallens come from the same family and they all like siblings to each other and my Adaar also exists !!

17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)

I will not say anything further then Maki Surana’s dog was named Pepproni, she was a good mabari.

18) Have you installed any mods?

Too much like 4 GB of mods per game.

19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?

Maki Surana: Yup, She always wanted a way out as well she heard the stories of them and wanted to go out and fight, she loved Duncan and always wears the warden outfit.

Deletev Cousland: NOPE, he refused first and Duncan pulling him away from his parents made it worse, he always distaned himself from the wardens and had a big hate for Duncan.

Theron Sabrae. It’s sort of Bittersweet, they don’t mind the wardens but it would have been better if left with a choice, as well as the whole Tamleen fucked them up, but they are chill.

20) Hawke’s personality?

Aside from the default ones which are often Purple.

Jasmine: Purple with a mix of Blue.

Blond Hawke that I totally didn’t forget his name: Blue.

21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?

Nah.

22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?

Deletev: Definitely kill Howe before anything happens.

Theron: you know.

Jasmine: Saving Bethany or sacrificing herself for her at least.

Lin: Never date that egg because the next time he sees him, he will kick ASS.

23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?

Deltev: Romancing Nathaniel and adopting children because fuck the system.

Maki: Coming instead of Stroud into the Fade along Hawke. (She would never see the wardens fall like that)

Senaca Adaar: Being a healer who deals with the healing spirits really closely.

24) Who did you leave in the Fade?

Stroud, Alistair REALLY actsike my brother and my emotional ass is emotional, even if he’s white I gotta overlook that.

mei x freedom, mei x love, mei x safety, mei x never having to feel caged or in danger of being caged ever again bc she’s totally and utterly free to live the life she deserves. 

✧ WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RP WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?

pretty much anything my partner and i are having fun with, as long as it’s not hurting anybody or perpetuating some nasty nonsense. i wouldn’t have fun with gross shit anyway, obviously, so...hit me with all the cheesy tropes and indulgent aus that are pure and silly and angsty and fun. i love that shit. be wholesome w/ me. 

✧ HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?

this...kinda depends on how old the characters are at the time. mei is one of my wardens who’s on the younger side (19 when the blight starts, turns 20 about halfway through), and she’s not a very experienced person where relationships are concerned. so during the blight i’d probably place the cutoff around 5 or 6 years, depending on the dynamic, and overall i think the largest gap i’d be comfortable with is 10 years. 

but a 10 year gap would be more likely when mei is older and her formative years are behind her and so there isn’t so much of a disparity in where she and her partner are in terms of life journeys. at that point, whether it’s with older or younger partners, the limit is about the same. mei would have to feel like she’s neither way ahead of her partner where personal development is concerned, nor significantly behind.

they have to be near the same page, or at least within the same few chapters. 

✧ ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?

usually, yes? there are a lot of things i ship in theory, so i never know how they’ll actually go until a partner starts developing it with me in that direction because up until then i can only hazard a guess at how the other party would respond to my muse. i also need to be sure i really feel it with our muses so that i can show my partner the enthusiasm we both deserve. it involves a level of comfort ooc as well, which is why i tend to find shipping quicker and easier with people i’ve known for a bit. 

this isn’t to say exceptions are never made. sometimes i trip and fall into shipping with somebody brandy new and it’s great. it all depends. but i don’t generally pursue ships with everyone bc a) i like variety!!!!! and b) some characters (or portrayals of characters) just work better in non-romantic relationships and i love that shit too.

Fanfic

"Reason or Rhyme" (Time Princess - Gotham Memoirs). The Vittorio expansion/fix-fic, because I will be forever disgruntled at how little romance content was actually included in the Mafia romance route.

Galactic Date Night Shenanigans aka "The one where everything is Balkar's fault." (SWTOR - Theron Shan/Jedi Knight). Theron "disaster spy" Shan is goaded into trying to take his wife out for a nice date for once, and it goes like every other plan these two have ever had anything to do with.

#3: [I] trusted [you] (SWTOR - Theron Shan / Jedi Knight). A post-Nathema prompt fic I swear I will finish one of these days.

Original

super secret short story/novella project - Okay it's not that super secret, but it is something I'm mostly keeping under my hat for now as I work on it because of reasons, and is actually (inconveniently, for 100 Days of Writing purposes) the main thing I've been working on lately. I expect to be able to say more about it later. Maybe even within the 100 days! We'll see.

southern gothic urban fantasy procedural romance - Faerie Animal Control Warden meets FBI Elf during investigation of a suspicious death out in the kudzu. A little bit of Bright, a bit Mushi-Shi, a drop of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

Stuff I Want to Write

Distinct from works in progress in that I have not actually gotten past the planning stage on any of these - if that. A few of these have been rattling around in concept for long enough to have gone through several distinct evolutions without ever getting any writing done on them. Still, hope springs eternal and ideas are never wasted.

Fanfic

the rival bands AU / the rock opera playlist fic (Sailor Moon - Makoto Kino/Nephrite). Currently exists entirely as an incomplete playlist.

space opera Pride and Prejudice retelling - exactly what it sounds like on the tin. Do y'all know I have yet to encounter a futuristic/space AU? Surely there's one out there somewhere, but I have yet to see it. If you know of one, for the love of God don't tell me.

"Ten of Swords" - (Archer EMIYA/Minako Arisato). fate/stay night + Persona 3 Portable crossover what's even wrong with my brain.

Original

the Regency fae story - a Regency-era fantasy in which a lot of the needlessly complicated and restrictive social rules followed by the upper classes are actually an attempt at defending against the Fair Folk. Sort of Pride and Prejudice vs Changeling: the Lost vs Labyrinth. Could turn into a whole Pride and Prejudice retelling, I guess?

drinking games - fantasy imperial court intrigues involving a romance between a court poison taster and a master spy/assassin.

untitled - East/southeast Asian-inspired Beauty and the Beast retelling in which the Beast is a mountain god whose appearance is based on a tiger. I'm probably too white to write this.

untitled - Private investigator hired to investigate local bad-boy-made-good for insurance fraud, turns out it was actually an ill-advised teenage deal with the devil coming due. Might fit in with that other southern gothic urban fantasy idea, I am not sure.

the ciphered letter - This one started off as a combination of a Mage: the Awakening campaign and a really, really weird spam email I got one time. Orphan gets mysterious ciphered letter, meets snarky Welsh mage, awakens to magic and maybe almost gets made a human sacrifice to an eldritch abomination.

Forfeit - Regency/Victorian-esque fantasy involving reincarnation, a race of immortals, and a half-immortal teaming up with a mortal who sacrificed his future reincarnations for pseudo-immortality to uncover and stop the sinister secrets that power a colonizing empire. It makes more sense in my head... probably?

untitled - Slow burn enemies to lovers between the world-conquering emperor and the rebel leader who's opposing him, over the course of a time loop. AKA Lord of Heroes Kartis/Monarch with the serials filed off. Or I guess I could just write Lord of Heroes fanfic?

low fantasy Magnificent Seven Samurai - Farming village scrapes together a group of starving mercs to protect them from marauders, drama ensues. That's it, that's the whole idea.

Unfinished Fics

Distinct from works in progress in that these are all old enough I can no longer claim I intend to finish them. Some of them I may come back to, especially the few that had substantial progress made before they fell by the wayside. Most will probably be left abandoned, either because I have lost interest in continuing to work on them or I have just plain forgotten what I was planning to do with them.

dreameater - A very old, loosely Forgotten Realms-inspired concept involving an aging half-elf, his fully elven partner, and a mysterious magical threat that's devouring people's dreams.

"Fortune Favors the Brave" (Baccano! - Luck Gandor/Eve Genoard). The Luck/Eve shipping fic.

"Intermezzo" (Blood+ City of Nightwalkers). Follow-up fic to an obscure manga prequel/side story for the vampire anime Blood+, involving Hagi and the Hong Kong cop who semi-adopted him that one time.

"The Art of Losing Everything" (Dragon Age: Origins - Alistair Theirin/f!Cousland). An Alistair/f!Warden fic with themes of loss, duty, and sacrifice.

"In Pieces" (Dragon Age II - Fenris/f!Hawke). A terrible horrible no good very bad AU where Hawke actually turned Fenris over to Danarius and then came back to try to fix her mistake, which I can never finish because I can't make that initial decision make internal sense no matter how hard I try.

"Pas de Deux" (Final Fantasy VIII - Squall Leonhart/Rinoa Heartilly). Exploration of how Squall and Rinoa's relationship could develop after the events of the game.

"With Good Intentions" (Final Fantasy VIII - Squall Leonhart/Rinoa Heartilly). An AU in which Rinoa discovers that technically you can change the past, it's just that if Squall has an actual decent childhood the world ends. Way too ambitious for me to ever actually finish, probably, but I can't quite give up on the idea.

"I've Loved These Days" (Gundam SEED - Mu la Flaga/Murrue Ramius). One of several partly-written Gundam SEED fics kicking around in my files.

"The Last Night of the World" (Gundam SEED - Mu la Flaga/Murrue Ramius). Another Gundam SEED fic, one that began as a prompt in ye olde LiveJournal days. "I've Loved These Days" might have been a prototype, though they don't appear to have any text in common. Could in theory still get finished, maybe.

Valentine's ghosts (Gundam SEED Destiny - Andrew Waltfeld/Murrue Ramius). I'm just saying, Andy/Murrue would have been so much more interesting than the whole Neo thing in Destiny.

"Lion Passant" (Kingdom Hearts). Something something Leon as a failed Keyblade Bearer. The Kingdom Hearts franchise has rewritten its own lore at least three times since I originally had the idea, I can't imagine I'll ever continue it now.

"Vigil" (KotOR - Carth Onasi/f!Revan). Carth/Revan retrospective somewhere around the tomb of Naga Sadow on Korriban.

"Semper Fidelis" (KotOR/KotOR II - Carth Onasi/f!Revan). Post-Sith Lords Carth/Revan resolution fic.

"Clarity" (KotOR II). Atton Rand backstory study from the POV of that one nameless Jedi.

"A Simple Game of Cards" (KotOR II - Atton Rand/Jedi Exile). Spoilers: it is never a simple game of cards. Turns out someone already did it with more or less the same twist I had in mind.

the besieged base fic (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). A fic rendition of the "Besieged Base" mission from the first Mass Effect.

"Get Up, Jonah" (Mass Effect). I woke up thinking about Turkish drummers. Didn't take long; I don't know much about Turkish drummers. Virmire, before the other shoe drops.

"Long Night" (Mass Effect). Ashley on Virmire.

"My Heart Dances" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). Liara POV of Shepard/Kaidan.

"No Way Out" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). Heading up the Citadel during the ME1 endgame.

"Right Here, Right Now" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). An ME1 epilogue / pre-ME2 sort of fic.

"While the Night is Still Young" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). Shepard/Kaidan en route to Ilos.

Apparently I had approximately a million little Mass Effect shortfic ideas I never finished and in some cases never started. Apparently they're all for the first game. (I think there was a Thane idea or two for ME2 that I just never started on at all. RIP.)

"To Absent Friends" (Tiger and Bunny). Sad, sad futurefic of an elderly Pao-Lin reflecting on the deaths of all the other heroes over the years.

Hey! So I've been in love with your OC posts (who would win in a fight, who is more emotionally healthy), and I've got kind of an odd one for you. How do you think their origins/stories would transfer into modern times? Idk if you've ever thought about it...

Oh, definitely! It's one of those ideas I've come back to over and over and over again just because it's fun to think about, though I will confess I've had some difficulty pinning most of them down to a true modern AU. It's a lot easier when it's a category, like that ballet troupe AU that went around the other day, or the spy AU, or a college AU or whatever. They just always seem to slot into place much easier with a framework to guide them.

Also I wrote like four hundred words on the DA2 companions before I realized that wasn't what you'd asked, so let me try this again.

Priory is probably old, old money and a church kid who gets caught up in something way bigger than her. I'm having trouble mapping the breach to something modern, but if a break in the sky spilling space-wrath upon the world is too extreme perhaps something breaks deep under the ocean instead. Actually, I like that a lot--I'm not entirely sure how she becomes the Only One who can stop it, but I'm sure if pressed she could be the only one with both some obscure bit of knowledge and the physical fitness to go fix the macguffin or whatever. (Super specific, I know. I'll work on it.)

Hawke... Hawke to me feels like one of those kids raised in the lonely wild English moors, completely unaware that her mother's got a title because they spend more time beating mud out of their clothes and trying desperately to keep the broken gas stove working in the winter than thinking of anything like family jewels and airy castles. The problem, though, is that they live miles from anything, and when Malcolm gets very sick very quickly it takes too long to get him to a hospital. They can't bear to stay in the old house after that, so Leandra writes Gamlen and then Hawke writes Gamlen and one way or another they end up installed in the manor at...I can't remember where I wrote it in the vampire fic, but I liked it. Pembroke, I think?

I can't decide how she meets Fenris in this world, though. Their spheres are different enough that I have a hard time seeing them casually bumping into each other, but at the same time Hawke would definitely be someone employed at odd hours, not a 9-5. Artist, maybe (clay? ceramics? one of those people who illustrates medical textbooks?) or musician (a la that rock band fill I did for Lilou ages ago) or niche author or something that would give her schedule a great deal of freedom and flexibility. Late night radio personality, maybe, with a bit of a reputation for getting more out of her guests than they ever mean to say.

Fenris...hm. I always like him as Italian or Greek in real world AUs, and I don't think that'd change here. I don't know exactly where in Britain his and Hawke's paths intersect, but it's definitely a total accident and it definitely happens more than once, and the second time Hawke sticks around. In front of a museum, maybe, and Hawke offers to walk through it with him, and it's not until much, much later that Fenris confesses he'd only been walking by.

She still falls for him hard and fast, though. Some things are the same no matter the universe.

besides the fact that cousland and sophie turner’s sansa stark actually have a lot in common, story-wise, i’ve just kind of always picked sophie turner for em anyway. i don’t know a whole lot about british accents (despite tas explaining them to me constantly) but i just feel that her voice is so fitting--collected and cold yet emotive when she lets it. very emilia.

but like, lin from spirited away susan egan. meg from hercules susan egan. that type of biting, low, sarcastic voice is just perfect for aurelia!

okay i KNOW karen david is also ellinor’s faceclaim but! it all goes together so well! her pitch and tone is just so dynamic and expressive and i love that for ellinor, who grew up as a noble and knows how to use her words and her tone to twist situations and play games and act for others when she has to.

So I read the anon's question on which one (Eppie, Lin, Priory) was the best in terms of combat, but in terms of handling emotional crises, who do you think would best excel at that? Also, if you had to pick, which one would you most want to be friends with (i.e. who's your favorite)?

Hahaha! Man, these questions are like crack to me; I’m literally sitting here giggling with my hand over my mouth. My poor OCs.

Let’s see here. Lin handles emotional crises by shutting down and putting up as many walls as she can as fast as she can. If she can’t feel it, it can’t hurt her, and anger’s a lot better than grief in terms of keeping the ones she loves safe. In part it’s why Alistair was such a good fit for her; he reminded her to let go of the bitterness and that you could still smile after great loss, even if it still hurt. At the same time, the things she tends to get angriest about are things she can’t fix, like darkspawn existing and the Calling and the omnipresent weight of her parents being dead. It’s certainly not the healthiest thing in the world, and she has to deal with that anger most of her life.

Eppie doesn’t have as much long-term anger; she doesn’t simmer so much as explode in a quick burst of temper, then be fine an hour later. She’s pretty incapable of holding grudges (which is the only reason she and Fenris work), but when she’s really angry or upset she can say some pretty cruel things with the express intent of causing the most damage she can, and unfortunately the people she’s mostly likely to fight with are the people she’s best-suited to hurt. Cries very rarely, though I think she’d probably benefit from a good crying jag every once in a while. All in all, I’d say she’s pretty emotionally healthy, though now that I think of it she does have a problem with inserting herself in her friends’ lives to protect them emotionally & physically (whether they want it or not), and she has a hard time accepting that they might not need or want her help. It’s a defense mechanism brought on by losing…well, everyone she loves, but it can definitely smother if she’s not careful. She’s also overconfident.

Priory, though, probably takes the cake as far as emotional health. She’s by far the kindest of the three—she’s just good, and she knows how to read people and is the readiest of the three to sit down and have serious conversations when they’re necessary to resolve conflict. She’s also got the least trauma in her background; so far as I can tell, her family’s untouched and her brothers are alive and well, and even if she can’t see them they’re as good a family as she can ask for, and that’s enough for her. Her biggest problem would be her eagerness to see both sides of the issue actually precluding compromise. If she’s left alone on an issue too long, she becomes convinced that there’s a way to make everyone happy if she just works hard enough, and that’s obviously not always true.

Who’s my favorite? Well, I’m sure it surprises no one, but Eppie would be my top. As healthy as Priory is I think Eppie would be better for me in terms of confidence and just being the one to come get me out of my apartment and have normal human interaction every once in a while. (An introvert on Tumblr? Please.) Also, puns. Lin is…she’s not really one to have many friends, and once everyone splits up after Origins it gets even harder for her to make new ones. Priory would be a fantastic friend as well, honestly, but she’d be more the—like, the church/book club friend who shows up at your door with a pie just because she was thinking of you, and Eppie would be the one who accidentally sets your kitchen on fire that one time and is so hilariously contrite that it’s impossible to stay mad at her for long, especially when she buys you your favorite alcohol to make up for it.

I love questions like this. Goodness.
