Lily Evans failed a lot of tests her first year at Hogwarts. She kept every letter anyone wrote to her in shoe boxes under her bed. She made her tea in the morning with sugar, but at night she liked to drink it plain. Lily hated ancient runes and walked out of the class in third year. Her hair was always long, except for the summer in fifth year when Marlene cut it on a dare. Her fingernails were short from her nasty habit of chewing on them when she was nervous. Her first kiss was James Potter. If she was crying, she was in pain. If she was laughing, she was loud. If she was quiet, then no one in the room dared to cross her. She wasn’t in the popular crowd and yet everyone was her best friend. She wasn’t a saint, but no one could ever remember the detentions she served. Lily’s socks were often mismatched because she was too lazy to sort through them. She hated the snow, but loved snow days. She wore her heart on her sleeve. She had the biggest dreams. She hated her nose. She loved her singing voice. There were few people who trusted her with a boiling pot, but she was a natural at gardening. She lied to her sister about a lot of things. When the autumn leaves fell, she always went to go dance in them. She married James Potter because somewhere along the way he’d become her best friend. She always forgot to take her medicinal potions and got pregnant on accident because of it. She spent a ton of time with Bathilda Bagshot because she thought the old woman was brilliant, not batty. She wrote lipstick notes on the mirror for her husband. She always left glasses of water all over the house. She loved her son. She died too young.

There is not enough Lily bashing.

LOOK okay; ive read james bashing, ive read sirius bashing, ive read remus bashing, ive read marlene bashing, ive read peter and mary and frank bashing. Ive read alice bashing, ive read dorcas and even bashing, ive read barty and snape and regulus bashing. Its harder to find a character bashing i haven't read at least once.

Lily however? it doesn't happen. Because, imo, everyone seems on edge about bashing her as they'll be called a misogynist. "Even" in non-jegulus stories, it doesn't happen.

I love lily, and i think shes a great character, but sometimes the avoidance to write her as yeah kind of the asshole makes the writing worse. Its less realistic.

Guess what, sometimes people aren't calm and understanding even when they should be and definitely when they shouldn't.

A weird amount of fics go out of the way to avoid any conflict with lily by just not writing her or writing her as bland or without any spark which is what attracts a lot of people to the character.

The amount of fics ive read where lily has been like "i understand" no matter what happens is kind of bs. she looses her fire.

Let lily get mad

let her loose her shit over little things

let her yell a bit more, even if she isn't in the right

please, for the love of the marauders, write Lily Evans as Lily Evans

random marauders era headcanons part i forgot

james laughs at his own jokes before he can tell and while he tells them to someone else. hysterical wheezing laughter

mary has a pack of cherry and a pack of strawberry bubblegum on her wherever she goes. marlene has mint drops

remus only takes 30-minute long baths, and he never takes showers; just baths, always baths

dorcas squeals when she's excited

marlene's fringe is always too long, and whenever she cuts it, it's too short, and the wait for it to grow back into in length drives her up the wall

lily used to have a really large, greybunny named dust, and it used to be her best friend when she was five

peter always has hair ties with him and he ties his hair up with it in silly little things which should resemble ponytails

sirius' favorite eggs are eggs benedict, he could have them every day for breakfast

james wears slightly under knee high socks and only slightly knee high socks during the summer. if he has to wear socks, you can bet those are what he's wearing (he also wears socks and sandals and thinks it's the peak of fashion)

lily always puts her hair up before doing homework. it helps her focus better because she's not actively pushing her hair out of her face anymore

marlene's favorite hogwarts professor (besides mcgonagall) is flitwick, and that is why she's focusing and studying for his class (the only class actually cares about)

remus is shit at flirting (i am a firm believer of remus 'awkward' lupin)

mary makes puppy eyes to get what she wants (it actually works, somehow (especially on lily, and mostly on lily, actually))

peter has really warm and soft hands, and people always want to hold his hand for this reason. he also does that soothing thumb rubbing thing

sirius knows how to play the harp, and played it when he was younger, but he never actually used that skill later in life

the sorting hat actually considered putting dorcas in ravenclaw, but ultimately decided on slytherin because of her cunningness

lily is SO a jock lover. every single one of her crushes she's ever had has been on sport players. her type is someone passionate and a little obsessive about a sport. marlene hangs up a poster of catriona mccormack and goes on an hour long rant about her league wins and lily is blushing like crazy. james makes his entire team get up at 4am to practice and acts like the world is ending when he loses and lily cannot take her eyes off him. regulus spots the snitch from across the entire pitch and catches it in a dive and lily is swooning right there. dorcas is yelling at the referee about a foul and scoring multiple goals in less than a minute and lily really wants to just go and make out with them.

Regulus and Lily friendship headcanons!!

I think that they wouldn't really come across each other and become friends unless Regulus got closer to the Marauders (preferably in a jegulus or jegulily narrative)

That being said, I feel like they started spending time together sort of by accident or by extention of being with a mutual friend. Like Remus.

Since I see all three as studious and academics, it makes the most sense to me that their friendship started as studying meetings. Regulus first befriended Lupin and joined him in the library for quiet reading. Sometimes Lily sat with them as well.

Maybe one day Reg was reading a book for leisure that Evans had already read and she commented on it. They talked a little about the book over tea after he finished it and that's how they started talking to each other.

Enter James, who is an idiot and thus has a lot of stupid moments. And of course, Lily and Regulus being the witty and sometimes sarcastic little shits they are, have to comment and joke about the dumb shit he does. So their conversations branched from literature to Potter and eventually daily casualties.

Regulus never thought he'd like Lily. She seemed stuck-up in a way. Somewhat unapproachable. And of course, a muggleborn Gryffindor. But he realised she's very clever and sweet. One of the smartest people of her age. Just went to show how wrong blood supremacy was.

Evans never had an opinion in regards to the youngest Black. She gave everyone a chance (obviously, she used to be friends with Snape after all) and never had a negative encounter to base her opinions on. She was still surprised of just how well the two got along. Books and tea came a long way.

Okay I know it’s not Monday- but I’ve had a hard time taking my meds for depresso recently can you do lily or Remus helping reader take there meds Ty x

"It's time," Remus glances at his watch, "Ready, dove?"

A wave of resentment washes over you as Lily digs in her handbag for your medicine bottle, the orange plastic foreboding and somehow taunting.

"Whatever," You grumble, "I don't have water, I can't."

"I have water," Remus reaches into his own bag, a tote slung over his shoulder, "It might be a bit warm, but it's still water."

"Warm water makes me sick," You bluff, "I'll take them later."

"No you won't," Lily carefully insists, smile sympathetic, but not pitying, "I know you won't. I'm no stranger to your evasion tactics, sweetheart."

"Drink while you walk," Remus urges you, pointing at a window display of a novelty pillow, something you'd love to have on your bed, "I was gonna suggest we head in there, I know you'll like their display."

Lily hands you your pills quickly, keeping them hidden in her hand so that you don't see them. And she makes a point of casually walking away before you take them, even though Remus takes your free hand, watching out of the side of his eye while you swallow. They want to make sure you take them, but they don't want to hover, or stare at you.

Their understanding and accommodation of your routines is something you appreciate even if you don't say it, even if you can't say it. You wish you didn't have to take the meds at all, but if you have to, you suppose you want them in Lily's green purse, and you're not sure anything will wash them down better than Remus's water, because even if it is warm, you know he carries it for you.

The male equivalent of the father daughter dance at a wedding is a mother son dance...

So at James and Lily's wedding, Lily did her father daughter with her father but by the time James got married, his mother had passed already.

James didn't skip on the dance, instead, asked McGonagall to do it with him instead.

She said yes. It was one of the only happy memories of hers from the entire war.
