He's staring at you again, and you can see it from the corner of your eye.
You quietly smile, as you read through the paperwork, keeping the illusion that you're occupied by the work.
But he's a clever man, you know he can see through you. So after a few minutes of waiting, you break the silence.
"What is it, Captain?" You asked him while sparing him no glance, "Does something bother you?"
"Nothing." You heard him say, "It's nothing."
"Sure you have nothing in mind?" You replied as you put a file aside, "You know you can talk to me about anything. I'm all ears."
He seems to contemplate it for a moment, before he decides to speak. "Why do you wear red lipstick?"
You raise your brow upon hearing the question, "It helps me feel more confident." You tap the papers against the table to even them out.
"Did it help you feel 'more' confident when you left a mark on the inner part of my sleeve?"
You hold back your smile as you compile the paperwork together, "Well, how can you be sure that was me?"
"Because you're the only woman who wears red lipstick." He stated, "And the only one who bothers enough to notice my habit to roll up the cuff, so I can see my watch easily."
You chuckle as you turn your head to see him, "It's for good luck."
He furrows his brows at you, "Care to explain?"
"You've been a soldier before, John, surely you knew about a woman's kiss as a lucky charm?"
"I know." He replied, "But they carried it inside their handkerchiefs."
"Well, do you have it? The handkerchief?"
"... No."
You smile as you deliver the file to his desk, keeping your gaze on him as he watches you walk closer. His eyes follow your hand, as you place the report in front of him. "Is that all, Captain?"
He searches your face, before he leans back against the chair. "Say," He began, "What crossed your mind when you held my uniform in your hands? Did you wish for my safety, or did you want me to notice?"
"I can't see why it can't be both, sir."
He cocks his head, and a small smirk begins to form on his lips, "You're quite bold, aren't you?"
"It's just the work of the charm." You coyly said, "Wipe my lipstick off, and I wouldn't even have the courage to look you in the eye."
He tilted his head, before patting the top of his thigh.
"Shall we find out?"

Have you thought looking looking rates outside of america? Sure the travel and stay would be expensive but not as much as THAT :c
I mentioned yesterday but the summarized version of me doing medical tourism is: yes I technically could do that, BUT
- I don't have a passport (yet)
- I wouldn't know exactly where to go
- once a country is picked, I would have to narrow down my surgeon search knowing that my pool of options is HUGE
- once a surgeon is picked, I'll need to call / schedule remote consults again, and do that according to the timezone of the location I picked, to even GET a ballpark or an exact quote
- I can't be completely sure how much it'll all cost me
- I would have to stay in the country at least a few weeks, I can't just fly home immediately after surgery, there are follow-up appointments you Have to go to
- I would need to take a family member with me, or know somebody nearby, bc I'd need someone to take care of me post op
- if I took a family member, that doubles the cost of travel
- I scared.

Just saw this on Twitter (you cannot make me call it X, I absolutely refuse to) but it really is wild to me that in the original Japanese dub for Yu-Gi-Oh, the shadow games were a thing. And you could either lose some body parts in a duel or just straight up die. And when 4Kids got the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh, of course they couldn't just show these characters dying or even say the words "they died", so they had to censor it. It's just so funny that what they came up with was....arguably waaaayyyy more dark than the Shadow Games actually were. Like yes, I'm sure that a realm where your soul can get banished to and be tortured for all eternity is totally better than losing some limbs or dying.

guys can we stop with "tayvoodoo" like there are ways to say this that don't involve meme-ifying a marginalized closed black religion
