Propaganda
Dorothy Malone (The Big Sleep, Written on the Wind, The Tarnished Angels)—She is theeeeee b-movie actress, but her two Sirk melodramas are where she really shines--she's mesmerizing, electrifying, playing her roles with such nuance and conviction that you can't look away from her. And on top of all that talent she's like stupid hot. I mean good god just look at her.
Madhubala (Mughal-e-Azam, Barsaat Ki Raat, Mr. & Mrs. '55)—The Venus of India; heart-throb of all who saw her; responsible for the sexual awakening of every single desi lesbian I know (including me!) And my god, she is breathtakingly beautiful. Look at the subtle grace with which she moves, and that smile - the kind of radiant smile that can make you laugh with sheer delight, or cry because of its hidden pain. Those wild curls! That Cupid's bow! The way she tilts back her head and smiles at you with mischief dancing in her eyes! She has a way of looking at the camera that makes you feel she's sharing a private joke just with you; it's something about that quizzical twist of the lips and eyebrows. As an actress, she is inimitable; she seems to effortlessly inhabit roles ranging from a heart-broken courtesan to a laughter-loving socialite. Fun fact : she's had quite the fan following in Greece! Stelios Kazantidis even wrote a song as a tribute to her.
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

SHE IS EVERYTHING AHHH. JUST LOOK AT HER SMILE-
Tumblr media
She's been nicknamed the Marilyn Monroe of India and was one of the highest paid actresses in the Hindi film industry (the term Bollywood did not exist yet) during the 1950s. Also an extremely talented dancer and singer
Tumblr media
SHE'S JUST SO STUNNING, like seeing her eyes IMMEDIATELY CAPTIVATES YOU, THE DANCING, THE BEAUTY!!!!!!!!! She worked in Bollywood for over 20 years and passed away at a sad early age of 36, BUT THE IMPACT SHE HAD WAS UNMATCHED!!!!!

That sassy sideways glance she does always has me WEAK AT THE KNEES. And when she's making silly faces at the camera to mimic someone ahhhh my gay little heart <3

atla live action thoughts: episodes 3 & 4
SPOILERS AHEAD
tw: opinions
things i liked:
jet, you beautiful, beautiful man. had me twirling my hair and kicking my feet fr i NEED this show to get a season 2 just so i can see more of him in the ba sing se arc please netflix
but looks aside, sebastian amoruso DELIVERED on the performance. the softness, the vulnerability, the charm, the intelligence, yet also the ruthlessness beneath it all? KILLED IT.
the moment between him and katara where he tells her to remember her mother as she was alive and not just her death was absolutely lovely. “remember the sunrise” made me very emotional
on that note, can’t believe jetara fake marriage is canon now lmao
i am SO here for desi omashu. i love the vibe and aesthetic of the city and again the visuals are STUNNING. live action repping the south asians better than the original ever did i’ll be honest
shameless fan service but “MY CABBAGES” being so fucking dramatic had me dying
of all the things i expected from the atla live action, secret tunnel and omashu being lesbians wasn’t even on the list but i’m not mad. hilarious that they turned the cave of two lovers into the cave of two platonic siblings though
jet, omashu and northern air temple arcs actually meshed together better than i thought. the NAT episode never sat well with me in the original so i’m glad they moved them to omashu instead.
the freedom fighters were RIGHT OUT OF THE ANIMATION. casting directors absolutely killed
love that they showed resistance movements within the fire nation and azula being part of rooting them out. it’s a nice nod to the deserter, since i’m guessing they’re not including that episode
really glad to see that the atla live action is following the tradition of having weirdly unnecessary zutara crumbs in every iteration of the story because what in the om shanti om was that zutara scarf moment. 10/10 no notes
having one of the earthbenders transporting iroh be angry over losing a loved one because of iroh’s siege of ba sing se was a really great change. i’ve always thought the original glossed over the true extent of the damage iroh did, so having him come face to face with what he’d done in the past was a great way to add some complexity
“how dare you beat up that child!” everyone go home seeing zuko being beat up by a random old lady is the highlight of this series. really love that they were just running around throwing things at each other that was major book 1 zuko/aang fight energy lmao
SECRET TUNNELLLLLLLL
leaves from the vine instrumental was 100% to inflict emotional damage and it fucking worked. the scene between zuko and iroh at lu ten’s funeral was so beautiful & then to have it flipped around at the end when iroh says “everything i need is on this boat”… fuck you for this netflix i didn’t need these tears today
things i disliked/am conflicted about:
not a fan of what they’re doing with katara’s character. they’re toning down a lot of her rage and fierceness, and boiling her down to “trauma over mother’s death.” in the original katara didn’t freeze jet and splash water at him because he tried to fight her, she did it because she was hurt and pissed off! there’s no way animated katara would’ve just run away from jet without sending a water whip at his face first. i’m concerned for how the pakku fight is gonna go tbh
bumi my guy, what did they do to you 💀 this series seems hellbent on having everyone remind aang that he ran away which doesn’t work when a) you already changed aang actively running away to him just going off for a break and b) you’ve made that point! the original omashu episode was about bumi teaching aang to look at the world differently, here it just weirdly feels as though he’s punishing aang by venting all his anger and despair on him?? that’s NOT what animated bumi was like & they didn’t even have the two of them go sliding down the delivery system in the flashbacks so adding it in at the end felt very out of nowhere. they didn’t even genuinely seem to be FRIENDS
having aang immediately figure out it was bumi was… sigh. can we please not do the thing where characters already know everything it’s giving me trauma flashbacks to the percy jackson show
jet’s plan feels more reasonable here than it did in the original. i get they’re trying to show that he didn’t care about the collateral damage to innocent people and that’s bad, but idk him wiping out an entire town unilaterally felt more extreme than a few bombings.
heavily dislike what they’ve done with zhao. i know they’re trying to show him clawing his way to power but that’s more of a long feng move than a ZHAO move. it’s important that zhao always holds more power than zuko and that he has an overinflated sense of ego from the start for him to fulfil his narrative purpose of serving as a warning to zuko of what he might become.
i like seeing mailee but why are they in this show? it feels as though they’re cardboard cutouts there for fan service instead of being actual characters
overall i liked these episodes better than the previous two & i do enjoy how action-packed and visually pleasing the show has been so far.
overall rating: 8/10 for episode 3, 7/10 for episode 4

Author Spotlight: Talia Bhatt
We're excited to highlight Talia Bhatt, author of the current club read Dulhaniyaa. Read on to hear how her identity and experiences informed her writing, and how queer love is a jailbreak.
Tumblr media
“Desi trans lesbian” feels, sometimes, like an ephemeral identity.
I am situated nowhere transhistorically and barely transculturally, having to borrow the language, social trappings, and forms of identification of the nation(s) that colonized and impoverished mine to even express my embodiment and positionality coherently. In a world where Afsaneh Najmabadi can pose the question “Is any one of you a lesbian?” to a room full of Iranian transsexual women and get blank stares, as she relates in Professing Selves, or where Deepa Mehta notes in her groundbreaking lesbian romance Fire that Hindi lacks even a word to express the concept of a woman loving another intimately, romantically, carnally, I am unmoored and unfixed, an anomaly because I dare to imagine my transsexuality independent from men.
“Woman are for men”, assumes every culture with harsh patriarchal contradictions—which does not entirely exclude the West—and trans women doubly so, since the abhorrence of non-heterosexual modes of living and social organization leads many from cultures like mine to presume that a woman would only transition to be with a man. A profound loneliness dogs my very existence, alerting me to the wispy shadows of a shrouded past that barely had a record of women like me prior to the midpoint of the 20th Century, only whispers and rumors and sensationalist gossip scrawled in academic journal by Esther Newton, alluding to the idea of a “man” that, having availed of hormones and surgical interventions, now sleeps with lesbians—the scandal.
No ancestors that are mine to claim.
Dulhaniyaa is not a particularly melancholy book, though a certain pensiveness pervades the opening chapters. There a story within the story written in subtext, in allusions and word choices and snippets of dialogue, that Esha and Billu and Dolly and others are aware of: my homeland, my motherland, my culture and my nation and my state—it is not a place for queer women. It is certainly, emphatically, not a place for a trans woman who fancies herself still attracted to other women, or even indelibly non-binary in a way. Women like us have no names, no pasts, and almost certainly no futures within the narrow confines of the constructed and stifling heterosexual hegemony.
A reviewer was kind enough to sum up Dulhaniyaa for me better than I ever could, stating triumphantly that “Queer love is a jailbreak.” It’s a quote that has stuck with me both for how simply it states a core theme that I certainly labored to convey without necessarily consciously meaning to, as well as for how profoundly vast and unencompassable the prison I find myself in is. My shackles are Time and Language itself, my cell the land I was born in, my wardens its people. I am a refugee in a sense that many, many queer and especially trans people tend to be, evicted and disowned and erased from hearth and homeland.
I wrote Dulhaniyaa because someone broke me out of that cell. She saw the woman I was as well as the woman I could be, and helped me bridge the gap between the two. She is now my wife.
Queer love is a jailbreak. Get your pickaxes ready.

tw: mental breakdowns, homophobia, vent
hey guys! sooooo the new chapter might take awhile to get out, i am not in the healthiest mindset rn... coz
like as y'all most desi countries are homophobic and mine is no different and i study in an all girls school and there are rumors of me being a lesbian [more specifically dating my only two friends], anyways in a homophobic country it's a big deal and can make everyone avoid you like it's a plague etc, and long story short, i had to tolerate this with my batch for two years, even losing my friends in the process and now the rumors resurfacing again is taking a toll on me and i... just can't rn, i am so tired rn
to those who read this, thank you, it feels nice to get it off my chest actually (even though I talked to my irl abt this, it's not helpful by much)
Also math sucks and i have so much hw

the desi lesbian couple
a few weeks ago, i came across an older desi lesbian couple on instagram. out of curiosity, i scrolled through their account for a bit. after all, it’s not every day that you see queer desis. when i find queer desis in the wild, i want to hold onto them. i want to hold them close and never let go. you and i have to stick together. we’re family now.
i’m always shocked to see older queers. not because i don’t think they exist, but because i don’t feel like it’s possible to live that long and be queer. the reality is that many of us don’t live that long. i can’t imagine myself living very long. it’s a mix of trauma and the fact that our world is going to shit (which is traumatizing in and of itself), but i have trouble imagining myself in five years. my birthday is at the end of this month, and even that feels surreal. you’re telling me that i’ve survived another year? crazy.
when i encountered that desi lesbian couple, i spent the rest of my night sobbing. and then a few days later, i remembered them, and started crying again. i couldn’t form any coherent thoughts, couldn’t figure out why they elicited such a response in me. i’ve seen plenty of cis gay men who are also desi, and they don’t make me cry like that. was this really the first time i’ve seen two desi lesbians? two desi women, happily married and living their lives…
you’re telling me that it’s possible? to be both desi and queer? to live long enough to experience such things? to be loved like that?
crazy.

Day 4: Ten Steps Forward, Two Steps Back
I know, I know, it's a day late :P I was feeling really bad today and tbh just wanted to write something, so here you go.
Tagging: @tumhari-bhairavi and @morally-gayy because you both loved Durga x Saranika ;)
also @desi-lgbt-fest since ig it counts as a submission.
Might delete later but as of now here you go:
Tumblr media
Durga stood stonily in front of the officer with disgust smeared across his face.
“Fucking unnatural.” He shook his head, curling his lip at her. “Who do you think you are, disrespecting India like this? Bringing shame to the army.”
It’s all for Saranika. She repeated the mantra that had brought her this far, over and over to herself. We are not immoral.
“Anyway-” the officer cleared his throat, eyeing her with utter revulsion. She could see him edging away from her, as if being gay was a disease that he could catch. “-Officer Sharma, you are honourably discharged from the Indian Army as of today.”
Durga let out a little shuddering breath. Honourably discharged.
“Honourably?” she questioned, the ghost of a sure smile lingering across her lips. “What, was my father’s influence so strong that you couldn’t even bear to discharge his daughter dishonourably?”
The officer sat down behind his desk, waving his hand at her in dismissal. The gesture stung more than she would like to admit. “Collect your things and leave. Your taxi arrives in half an hour.”
Durga stepped out of the office without saluting, head held high and with a smile on her face.
She had been discharged in the name of love, because of a system that continued to deny her identity.
Her lifelong dream… gone, and yet…
She couldn’t have been happier.
Walking down the corridor in her perfectly shining boots, keenly aware that this would be one of the last times she felt this way, wearing the uniform of the Indian Army, she called her beloved fiancée.
“Saranika?” her heartbeat quickened as the smile of a young girl deep in love twinkled in her eyes. “Ay, meri jaan. Honourable discharge. You?”
“Honourable discharge as well, Dee.” Saranika sniffed from the other end, clearly close to tears. “Papa ji’s influence is still strong, I see.”
-
As Durga prepared to step into the taxi, a young soldier ran up to her, her hair a mess and holding her cap in her hands. “Sindh-ji! Sindh-ji!”
Her voice was frantic, and although Durga was tired, something told her to listen to the woman. “Yes? Was there something you needed?”
“Just one minute, please.” The woman looked around furtively, beckoning Durga to a corner. “You got discharged because… you’re a lesbian, right? Do they do that to all of us?”
Us?
The woman’s eyes were wide and frightened, and Durga crumpled looking at her, just another girl that had to make the choice between her country and her identity.
“Yes.”
Her voice was barely a murmur.
“Please don’t abandon us.” The girl begged. “We need change here. I don’t want to leave… but I want to love someone, someday. Please, Sharma-ji.”
Her voice trembled and shook as she spoke, twisting the fabric of her cap between her fingers. Durga’s eyes were filled with tears, but she placed a comforting hand on the younger woman’s soldier. “Of course I will.”
Durga’s voice was soft, but resolute.
“I’ll fight for as long as I need to.”
-
Saranika had never seen Durga so frustrated. Always calm and collected, she was used to finding a logical solution to each and every one of her problems.
“Fuck-” Durga threw a cushion across the room, turning away to bury her head in her hands. Saranika wrapped her arms around her fiancée, wishing to ease her pain, even a little. “There are so many people just like us, baby.” Saranika sucked in a breath, seeing her red-rimmed eyes.
“It’s fine.” Saranika reassured her. “We’ll find a way to help them.”
In the next few months, they were full of plans. Durga’s and her father’s influences in the army was high, and there were many willing to listen to them. Around the world, support for their campaign rose higher and higher, the hashtag #LesbianArmy trending worldwide.
We are willing to fight!
Campaigns, reports, articles, websites, documentaries – the list was endless. Durga and Saranika held their faith. They were fighting for something they believed in, fighting for something they lived by.
It was a hard battle. They received as much hate as they did support. Daily, slurs were sent anonymously, hate comments left on websites.
It was a hard battle, yes – but they had each other, and so they persevered.
Three years later, the official bill was passed allowing those of any sexual orientation to join proudly in the Indian Army, and serve their country in the way they had always wanted to. Among those, Durga and Saranika stood proudly, hands intertwined: showing the world who they were, loving each other as much as they loved their nation.
That day, someone spat at them. They received a fair amount of disgusted looks and cruel sneers.
Despite that, they carried on.
Ten steps forward, and two steps back… is still eight steps forward.
Tumblr media
Again idk anything about the army, literally everyone is referred to as officer so feel free to imagine appropriate ranks, etc etc. hope you enjoy regardless!

Harry Potter Head-canons (1/?)
First off let me just say that I have always and will always adore the actors and actresses who portrayed all our favorite and not so favorite characters, and the crew and directors who brought Harry Potter to life. They made magic real and their contributions can never be understated.
This is not about them though. It’s hard to remember but the Harry Potter films were made in a time before the current push for more and more representation, that’s not an excuse, just the facts (with the one exception that will be brought up, obvs). And the same is true for the books, though that is a whole can of worms I do not feel like getting into in this very positive post.
Representation matters. When POC voices say they need representation, listen. When we change media to suit that need, it’s not a dig at what came before.
That being said, I dropped out of the fandom a few years ago, and after heavy reflection I’m back, but on my terms this time, no one else’s, canon or not.
My Hermione Granger is biracial (like me). Her father, Robert, is a strong Black father from a strong Black Family with deep ties to their heritage and culture, and a drive for excellence in all things done. Her mother, who’s name varies from fic to fic tbh, is biracial too. She grew up in a very different but still loving family from her husband, with a Black mom who immersed her in Black culture and an Irish father who taught her how to fight for what she wanted, no matter what others had to say about it. Hermione grew up in a secure and happy home with parents and grandparents who gave her culture and valued and fostered her intelligence, and made sure she had a stiff upper lip to make it through other people’s bs opinion of her. She might falter, but she never breaks. Also, she really has a thing for older guys (Ron is the only exception and a total fluke).
My Harry Potter has heavy Welsh and Desi roots from James’ side of the family. Unfortunately, thanks to Petunia and Vernon he is constantly put down for both of these things and grows up without the rich culture his father had been born into and hoped to pass on to his son. The amount of Desi blood Harry has depends on the fic. The big one I’m currently working on has his father’s, father’s mother being full Indian. James’ father was adopted but his maternal aunt was still a huge part of his life and worked hand in hand with his adoptive parents to give him a life filled with his mother’s culture, which he passed on to James. Oh and he’s bisexual, it’s just that Cedric was the only guy in school that he really lusted after and we all know how that ended up. He and Ginny (who is also bi) love to occasionally rate celebrities and random strangers both male and female, its kinda adorable.
My Lavender Brown is Black. My one true bone to pick with the movies, is the one I think we all in the know have, with Lavender being Black until she became a main love interest for Ron and then was recast to a white actress (maybe it was incidental, maybe it wasn’t, doesn’t matter my brain fixed it). Lavender had two loving Black parents (I’m done with the broken home stereotype for Black parents can you tell?). After her failure dating Ron she finally came out of the closet as a lesbian and started dating Parvati. In most of my fics, Lavender survives (usually as a werewolf) and Parvati sticks with her and the two live happily ever after.
My Ginny Weasley (as stated above) is bisexual. She and Luna definitely had a thing going throughout their school time together and Luna was really there for Ginny in the last year of the war with Harry and the gang gone and all the stress. My Ginny is also a non-binary demigirl [she/they], not a tomboy, who starts to really explore her gender after the war is out of the way. Harry is a super supportive boyfriend/husband and he helps her through her gender diaspora during their pregnancy with some their children (which never gets easier so they switch to surrogacy).
My Ron Weasley really has a thing for POC women, he is completely incurable (thank merlin). Whoever he ends up with (in my head its not always Hermione) they are 10 times out of 10 going to be POC in some way. And he really immerses himself in whatever culture he has to to ensure his children grow up in their mother’s culture, no matter what they come out looking like.
My Remus Lupin is/was pansexual and was in love with Sirius most of his life. Part of his guilt and reluctance with Tonks is because of Sirius. I have very strong feelings about his werewolf nature (and werewolf demonization in general), but I’ll leave that to another post. I do still have Sirius die in most fics, but I believe there are worlds where these two make it every time and get to have some freaking peace and quiet together.
My Sirius Black is aro-ace and has only ever thought about Remus as a partner in those categories. Because he is emotionally stunted, he has no idea how to handle it and needs help to get a relationship started.
My Ted Tonks is Black or at least mixed race, and the only thing the Black Family hate about him is that he is muggleborn. Wizards do not care about colorism they way we muggles do, nor do they really care about sexuality and gender (Pure-blood families only care that their children procreate with other untainted people), they legitimately couldn’t care less. Totally headcanon that this has always been a point in contention of why Pure-blood Families see themselves as morally superior to muggles while missing the point of the other serious societal problems they have.
My Nymphadora Tonks is as genderfluid as her metamorphic abilities and pansexual. She never really had to think to hard about it and was pretty much born out of the closet. It helps really spice up her love life, especially her relationship with Remus. She’s aware of the Sirius thing and tries to help Remus through his grief and doesn’t really push him even though she’s hopelessly in love with him.
My Severus Snape is somewhere on the aro-ace spectrum, he doesn’t think about it much. I do love letting him live to have an actually redemption arc where he finally breaks the cycle of abuse.
My Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan are gay and in love. It took Dean longer to get there but Seamus is stupidly happy when he does. The two go on to raise an adorable little family.
My Theodore Nott is demisexual and not evil. He got out from under his father’s influence to great risk to himself and later became an Auror. He and Harry are good friends. He has a massive crush on Harry. Also, he dated Daphne Greengrass and Blaise Zabini at some point in his life.
My Blaise Zabini is gay. Very gay. Need I say more?
My Mrs. Zabini isn’t a serial murderess, she was cursed to love again and again and for all those she married to die horrible deaths. She has tried to go celibate but part of the curse is that she cannot. Blaise and Theodore Nott go on a side quest at some point to help break her curse, probably.
My Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy are both bisexual and occasionally enjoy the company of others in their bed. They’ve both probably propositioned Snape at some point. Draco, thank merlin, never finds out about any of this and goes his whole life blissfully ignorant of his parents wild secret lives.
My Draco Malfoy is on the aro-ace spectrum and finds certain people aesthetically pleasing but very rarely has any romantic or sexual feelings for them. He does however, like a good number of people do, have a crush on Harry at various points in his life. He’s emotionally stunted though so he acts like a child about it.
There’s more but I’ll leave it at that. If you want more info about the big fic I’m currently working on let me know. I may never actually write more than one-shots inside the world I built for it so it will be nice to get some stuff out for people to see. As for Next Gen headcanons I reserve those on a fic by fic, world by world basis so if there is a separate post for them it would be fic specific and not set in complete stone. I love to use my Next Gen characters to suit my needs for storytelling.
Bye.

“Have you seen the latest study?” the psychologist asked me.
I had called Dr. Ken Zucker, a man who had spent decades working with children and young people with gender dysphoria, to talk to him about the history of that diagnosis. I wanted to know who got to decide when something was a variation versus a deviation; who got to decide when a way of being gendered in the world was abnormal, and required treatment.
By this time, I’d been writing about gender issues full time for about four years, since I published an op-ed in The New York Times about people assuming my masculine daughter was transgender and required social transition. Why, I asked, would we create so much meaning from a child rejecting the gender role associated with her sex? Isn’t that what GenX kids like me, reared with the soundtrack of Free to Be, You and Me, were raised to do?
The op-ed was supported by many, but vociferously objected to by some who accused me of transphobia. I was shocked and stung by that reaction. In the piece I said that I supported trans kids, but wanted to encourage children to explore both sides of the pink/blue divide without it reflecting on their identities—how could that be hateful? I reached out to some of my detractors to ask them to explain their views to me, and perhaps because I put in the subject line “What I got wrong,” some of them—including very prominent trans activists—agreed to do so.
I won’t name him, but one person who’d written a response to my piece, which had also gone viral, was a lawyer for an influential non-profit law group. He spent an hour-and-a-half at a coffee shop in the Financial District explaining to me that nuanced arguments like mine were dangerous. Deviating from the script, he said, always provided fodder for the right wing that wanted to oppress trans people and take away their rights and healthcare. Indeed, to my shock, Breitbart had written about my piece as an example of “slamming transgender ideology.” And Laura Ingraham’s people had reached out to me to appear on her show, even though I was clearly a full-throttle liberal. This confused and frightened me. I didn’t want to play for the other team.
Others reached out to me, too, including a healthcare lawyer, and lesbian, who lived in my neighborhood. We met for coffee, and she explained the issue from her point of view: pharmaceutical companies were conducting experiments on gay kids. Though it sounded too wild to be true, ringing of conspiracy theory, her idea dislodged some doubt inside me. Two years before, a friend of mine had made a documentary about trans kids. I’d said to her at the time, “Why do they all seem gay?”
I powered through my doubts, writing a book about gender nonconforming girls, trying to represent diverse points of view in the project. Well, some diverse points of view. My friend who’d written a book about trans teens five years before told me that I should never mention detransitioners; I’m sad to say I took this advice to heart. It was too dangerous for trans people, she said, and I didn’t want to make life any worse for people struggling to be understood and accepted.
Still, I questioned why so many of the people identifying as trans seemed to be rooting their identities in stereotypes. I was nuanced, but not in a way that could excite Tucker Carlson. I knew, like so many people, that something was wrong with the increasingly pervasive narrative about trans kids. I just didn’t have the knowledge and the language to articulate it. (This is something many people identifying as trans also say: they had a feeling. They didn’t have information, or a name.)
Then, almost a year after my book was published, I called Dr. Zucker. He showed me the study, and it was then I knew I’d allowed myself to be captured. The study followed young boys with gender dysphoria over a 15-year period. Almost 90 percent of boys desisted during or after puberty—that is, their gender dysphoria subsided. And almost 70 percent of them were bisexual or gay. Left alone, and not socially transitioned, almost all young kids now labeled as trans would not grow up to identify that way, and most would be same-sex attracted. The only time the media mentions this and the other studies with similar results is to discount them. Kids are routinely taught that gender and sexuality are not connected, but in fact, they are deeply intertwined.
From that moment of awakening, I allowed myself to look at the mountains of disruptive evidence that I had blinded myself to in years before. Once I saw it, I couldn’t look away. The mainstream media narrative about conversion therapy, detransitioners, puberty blockers, trans kids—it’s all deeply distorted and leaves out information that every person—especially every gender dysphoric kid and parent of one—deserves to know.
One reason so many gay and lesbian adults are concerned about the medical treatment of gender dysphoric youth is that they experienced that condition as children. Like so many, they grew out of it, and later identified as gay. There is overlap between childhood GD, and childhood gender nonconformity, and later homosexuality; thus they see these medical interventions as a kind of conversion therapy. The media and medical community’s refusal to acknowledge that has left a generation misinformed. The left wing, and especially the left and center press, have gotten this story very, very wrong.
Perhaps the most shocking thing I learned is that the medical protocol used to “liberate” trans kids is the same protocol once used to treat or cure homosexuality, and still used to chemically castrate sex offenders. What if every brochure, every children’s hospital gender clinic website, every activist organization, led with that fact? Would more of us wake up, and faster? Would more of us covert to be on the side of evidence, truth, and nuance, rather than thought-terminating clichés?
Let’s find out, shall we? Let’s inform people on the left properly, and see if we can push past the culture war to do what’s best for kids.
==
More successful at "fixing" gay kids than the Xian Right ever was.

Hey can you check out this new Netflix series called mismatched the second season mostly, it has a really lovely lesbian couple I would like to hear your opinion about them
Anon! I spent all of my free time yesterday bingeing the two seasons of this, lol, and I had never even heard of it before, so thank you!
But which couple is it that you like? I'm gonna first need to know which you mean, because I kind of have strong negative feelings about one of them! But could I be convinced... but I don't want to be!....?
I'm torn, I'm torn, because C (gonna try not to mention names and spoil things for people who haven't watched) does get SO much focus and both she and N are main characters, not leads, but like, pretty close to it, and they actually meet so very quickly, that's always a sign of writer commitment to me, how soon writers can get certain characters on screen and start their arc.
But the way she behaved at the end of s1, I'm still so mad. But then they really do delve into her internal conflict and and try to make her sympathetic and who in this show doesn't make mistakes, they're trying to get us be sympathetic for Simran and Krish... But C's mistake was SO huge and catastrophic, and the stuff she does is so hurtful and selfish, does it matter that she feels bad after? Well, yes, it does, and can I, a Quinn Fabray apologist, not forgive this...
But the thing is, A was just so much more fun and interesting... I liked A and N! And if there's no third season, that's where it ends, and I'm kind of happy to let them have their thing. :o
You tell me what you thought, anon! I probably wouldn't have been so quick to binge it but I've been in my desi media feels since Maja Ma. It's so interesting that I haven't heard "lesbian" in media in the past few years as much as I did in these two Indian works (excluding perhaps when people brought it up to say they weren't one). I don't know how much other people would enjoy it, I hear and acknowledge the criticisms, but it was interesting for me to see this very modern messy teen (well, college kids in this case) treatment of desi kids.

[Image description: A digital drawing of Vic (she/he), Desi (she/her), Ava (she/her), and Briza (she/they), NPCs from my D&D campaign, set against a geometric multishaded pink and purple background. Vic, on the left, is a young, thin, dark gray-purple Drow with short dark blue hair. She is wearing a belted yellow dotted jumpsuit that has a darker lower half. Desi, in the middle, is a young, tall, buff, brown Firbolg with short black hair and sharp, animal-like teeth. She is wearing a black tank top that reads "Big Dyke Energy" and is surrounded by hearts in the colors of the lesbian flag, as well blue shorts.
Ava, who is sat on top of Desi, is a pale blue Eladrin/Genasi toddler with dark purple hair pulled up in two pigtails with pink bows. She is wearing a pink shirt. Briza, on the right, is a young, thin, blue Eladrin woman with curly dark purple hair that is styled in two low hanging pigtails and two braided buns on top of her head. She is wearing a lilac crop tank top and a multi-tiered pink skirt held up with suspenders. Desi, at the center of the image, is flexing proudly with both arms held up, with Vic hanging off one of her arms and Briza hanging off the other, while Ava sits atop her head, holding onto her long ears for balance. Desi is flashing a tooth smile as she looks forward. Vic is smirking as she looks at Briza, while Briza is looking up at Ava and Desi with a warm smile. Ava is smiling gleefully, revealing some missing baby teeth. End description.]
It's been a few months since my girls have been in my campaign and I miss them so, so I thought I'd do a cute family portrait! My sweet girls ☀️🌙✨️

Red blue Silk uniform and Qingdai guanmao or mandarin hat with phoenix feathers as an imperial officer. Accessories to denote rank such as a phoenix and qilin.
Close fitting top with elbow length sleeves that is fairly tight fitting but allow room for movement. It is a kind-of-faded saffron color similar to the breast color of the Fenghuang. Over which she wears her leather and metal armor. Then over that, layers of very thin (almost diaphanous cloth) that are very loose fitting so it is easy to slip out of or just shuck off when needed. That builds up in colors until the outer layer where the skirt section splits off into separated 'tails' of colors. That way, in terms of movement and flow, the clothing picks up the slightest breeze and floats. Creating the illusion of effortless gliding and flight while allowing the character's movement with her clothes to punctuate her body language as she herself moves. The idea being that just the act of movement portrays elegance and effortless poise. When Zhou Chen moves with purpose all the outer layers will immediately flows behind her. Also heightening the impression of a hunting bird striking at its target. The robes are made of two layers of thicker material that doesn’t have the same flow to it. The upper layer would be smaller than the lower layer to create a two-tone color effect. The robe could be belted at the waist. It is form-fitting so that it contours to the body down to the waist. The upper section would be held in place by the armor over the top. As opposed to Zhou Zhen who would have the armor underneath the robe and the skirt of the robes flared somewhat so that when Zhou Chen moves it forms something of a sem-circle around his/her calves. In terms of color maybe the robes for Zhou Chen could have the lower layer the same blue as the second and fourth tail plumage on a Fenghuang with the upper layer the blue/gray/green of the outer feathers in the wings.
Hoodie, t-shirt, jeans, high top sneakers

Meri jaan, we do not know each other at all, but I like most of your posts very much. However, I am tired of you constantly posting the homoeroticism of two white dudes. Forget the firangi. Do better. Post the desi lesbians.
Desi lesbians make me feel bad because why should good things happen to you they should happen to me instead

PERSONALITY :
Sahil is the type of person who is quite noticeable yet hidden. She is soft spoken and has a relaxing demeanor, making her good friends with her room mate, Silver Vanrouge. She also is incredibly skilled in giving advice due to her… extensive life experience. She is quite philosophical, speaking in riddles a large amount of the time. If she isn’t speaking cryptically, she can be brutally honest at the point. She also gives clues to people who like to go around in others’ business if she trust their attentions, as she thinks of them as diamonds in the rough -- Yuudai (my mc) being one of them.
Despite upholding her own personal moral code, Sahil can be very cruel at times if she senses that her opponent is disturbing or dangerous. She becomes very calm and her glare is said to cut harder that the golden scimitars of the Asim family. She is also conscientious alongside her cruel wisdom and gives tough love at times. It is difficult for her to show strong emotion, but she works at it.
BACKGROUND :
Sahil’s parents met when her father had just become a best selling novelist and her mother had taken over the family mafia. When Rudra Pravin took over, she was known as the Gun not just from the Pleiades circles - but all over Aryastan and well into both the Savannah and Sands countries’. She was a terrifying tiger beastwoman and when she met Almanzor Bazarki, a black jackal beastman,  she fell hard. She proposed marriage and he became her consort.
The two of them ran the Pleiaides as they grew their family, which was more of a morally upright mafia that focused on technological and money making schemes rather than killing, but powerful all the same. However, the Pleiades were targeted by the Asim family, and Rudra and Almanzor were killed in front of Neera when she was 7. Inheriting a large debt, she worked to keep her brothers and sister safe, but they were all killed in front of Neera as well as the rest of the mafia when she turned 9.
Neera played dead as the Al-Asim matriarch cut off her ears and tail for potion ingredients, assuming her dead. Due to her unique bloodline, she was a tiger beastwoman like her mother but blessed with large reserves of cosmic mana like her father, allowing her to survive despite what had happened. She was abducted into a trafficking ring as a chattel slave and used as a laborer and fighter -- even tossed in to fight with animals and other slaves. She picked up multiple languages during this time and learnt how to shift into a tiger, reserving her beastman traits.
She was later brought by the unknowing Asim matriarch in her tiger form, who gifted her to her son as a gift. One day after she shifted back to her normal self, she passed out and was found by Jamil, who took her to a doctor and healed her. Over time, Jamil and Sahil became best friends and applied to Night Raven when the time came.
They both got in and in their second year, Jamil overblotted. This led to the two of them coming clean about their traumas to each other and in third year. Sahil became Diasomnia’s dorm leader shortly before this in the middle of their second year and over blotted herself, leading to her needing therapy. Sahil met one of her cousins, who had made it out much safer than her with his beastman form still intact and she fell in love with a princess.
HERITAGE : South Indian (Aryastan)
UNIQUE MAGIC : Caverns’ Phenomena - can produce precious metals and stones from flesh, blood or bone by touching a living thing with five fingers (Awakening from slumber, only a diamond in the rough may procure treasure from the forbidden. Lying far within - Caverns’ Phenomena!)
TRIVIA :
🐅Her MBTI type is INFJ.
🐅She keeps two scarab beetles as familiars - the green one is named Ashmedai and the silver one is named Durgayi.
🐅She’s incredibly skilled with fire arms and prefers using dual pistols.
🐅Sahil usually uses tattoo void magic, but instead of tattoos, she uses mehndi for the patterns.
🐅She was once a tiger beastwoman with many stripes but after becoming a shifter, many of her stripes became golden freckles on her skin.
🐅The only jewelry she wears is a dark blue cloth choker, dual silver studs in both ears and one white sapphire nose piercing.
🐅Jamil Viper is her best friend and she his. The two of them are very close and dance together in competitions.
🐅Sahil has a good amount of money set aside from her work and vigilanteism that she puts aside so she can study social-psych and cognitive sciences after graduating from Night Raven to make her own security firm.
🐅Sahil is highly skilled in Conjuration, necromancy, and physical enhancement magic. She is well known for how many all nighters she pulls.
🐅Sahil became Diasomnia’s housewarden after Malleus Draconia when she was in her second year and he in his third by challenging him to a physical-mage=ical duel and enduring his attacks.
🐅She can fluently speak English, French, German, Farsi, Arabic, Turkish, Hindi. Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
🐅She is in a romantic relationship with Vidya Nazari (PHNX-Manga’s oc) and her cousin Raijin (PHNX-Manga’s oc) is Vidya's bodyguard.
CATCHPHRASE :  Ah, come into the tiger’s den and let’s see how special you truly are, little pebble.
TWISTED FROM : Cave Of Wonders

Day 28: Walk of Pride

Tumblr media
Rati had always been scared to attend a Pride festival.
It felt like admission: yes, I am gay. Yes, I am proud.
Proud of what? What did she have that made her special? She had always been a blank puzzle, with missing pieces that could be scattered anywhere across the globe. How was she supposed to colour herself in rainbow and call it Pride?
Rainbows had always seemed like sad, fickle things to her. Small chinks of happiness that were erased by the sun. That were only possible with the most specific combination of events. Rain, and sunlight slanting exactly the right way.
Then what did that say about herself?
What did that make her?
Delicate? Impossible?
She had always been such a good girl: she sat in the front row. She played two instruments. She handed her work in on time. She didn’t doodle, didn’t gossip, didn’t daydream. Didn’t, didn’t, didn’t. Her entire life had hinged on couldn’t, wouldn’t, didn’t.
What could she do?
She was named for the Goddess of Love, after all. Then why wasn’t she confident in her own? Did that kind of confidence only come with straight love? Was she really as broken as her mother implied when she talked about lesbians? Every time she felt butterflies in her stomach, she locked them away. The day she called herself gay, she felt something inside her that she hadn’t felt before.
A sense of belonging.
That was the only reason she persevered, if she was being honest. That feeling had lit a flame inside her, a tiny sun of her own.
God knew there was enough rain in her heart. Maybe this little sun would make her own rainbow.
So when she went to college, she kept her head up and a smile on her face. She knocked at the door of the college Pride Club, and when the leader, (‘Padma’, her name tag read) opened it, she plucked up all her courage and asked:
“Excuse me, does this college have a pride event?”
She was half expecting Padma to laugh at her. For her to shoo her away and say that young girls, in their first year at college, didn’t belong at Pride.
Except – that wasn’t what happened at all.
Padma held the door open with a gentle smile and beckoned her in. “Of course! In fact, we have a pride event tomorrow, to mark the end of Pride Month. Do you want to meet the rest of the team?”
Rati hesitated. If she stepped over that line that marked the boundary between corridor and classroom, she would be safe. She could go back to reading in the library and not stirring up a fuss and presenting as ordinary. She could be good little Rati that never stepped out of line, just like she had been for the last seventeen years.
But something inside her was tired of being good. A little voice (her namesake, perhaps?) whispered to her that perhaps it was time to try being bad for a change.
And so, she offered a radiant smile for what she hoped to find in that room.
“I would love to.”
Pride Club was not like what she had expected at all. In fairness, though, she didn’t know what she’d expected. Whatever it was, it wasn’t this.
Ten to fifteen students lounged around the classroom, eating their lunch and chattering playfully with each other. Padma, perhaps sensing that she was getting a little shyer, put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
“Guys!” she called to make herself heard over the chatter. “Oi! Guys!”
Everyone turned to look at her, and Rati dropped her gaze to the ground at their subtle scrutiny. “This is our new member, Rati,” Padma gestured to her. “Be nice, all right?”
“Hi, Rati!” A short girl with choppy bangs grinned at her. “I’m Anshika, Padma’s favourite-” she lowered her voice, winking as if divulging a secret, “-and only – girlfriend!”
Padma blushed. “Shut up.”
“H-Hi, Anshika-ji.” Rati managed to smile shyly at her.
“I’m Khushi!”
“Anshuman.”
“Hey! Ravi here.”
As they made their introductions, something settled in Rati’s heart that had been fluttering around inside of her. She allowed the smile on her face to settle. This… this felt nice.
The next day, it took far less courage to show up to the Pride event.
This is it. She thought. I’m finally admitting it.
She held her flag tightly, and when the moment came, waved it high in the air. For once, the rainbow seemed strong, invincible. More than a trick of the light.
This felt like belonging.
This was her family.
This was her place.
And this was her pride.
