LOOK, Hiccup and Rapunzel would ADORE each other, they would be the bestiest of friends, they would enjoy each others company SO MUCH you have no idea. Like they are both so open minded, creative, intelligent and curious about the world they would just talk about everything and share their ideas and go on adventures and be reckless together for fun.

PLUS they've had a similar problem with accepting responsibility of becoming a chief/a queen??? How they both were not ready for it and saw it as restricting and they just wanted to explore the world after just finding freedom??? They could bond over it??????

Also just think about Hiccups reaction to meeting Rapunzel considering that his WHOLE life he was surrounded by vikings who are rather stern and aggressive people and Rapunzel is nothing like anyone he had ever met??? he is an outcast in his canon setting for his physical weakness and his worldview AND SHE IS SOMEONE WHOS ACTUALLY MORE LIKE _HIM_??? She shares his peaceful approach to conflicts and his abillity to see the bigger picture?? And she is all kind and gentle? You can't tell me he wouldn't absolutely LOVE to get to know her.

I'd say same goes for Rapunzel but in lesser amount cause she's made a lot of good friends in TTS and she has Eugene who is very understanding and supportive to her but there is still has been this thing where most of the people she meets were too cynical and saw her as too naive and she had to stand up to them many times to defend her decisions and actions and her worldview.

Like I think they'd just get each other you know?

And there is still MORE to them like I can think of Rapunzels fascination with inventors (which was shown in the series) and Hiccup literally IS one and how they are both artists and have reptile friends etc..

The conclusion is Hiccunzel is probably the best pair/duo/ship within the crossover PLEASE FANDOM STOP SLEEPING ON THEM

one of the things i love about zestiria is that it's not a classic chosen one story. they set it up like it is one in the beginning with the legends but in reality the only requirement is that the shepherd have high resonance so he can communicate with lailah and form the pact. there's no destiny there's no "chosen by the gods" it's just about being able to see seraphim. really the only thing that makes sorey special is that he grew up around seraphim instead of humans

and even further, the role of the shepherd isn't something you have to take. it's not "a calling" it's a choice. lailah makes a point of confirming with sorey that this really is something he wants to do. he could have refused if he wanted to and i think that's really interesting cause you see a lot of destiny stuff where the protagonist has to take it on and zestiria is really refreshing in that way

i really hate destiny type shit in my stories. and i love that zestiria doesn't do that

the most important zane character trait to me isn’t that he’s a robot, but that he, fundamentally, is new to it. he’s bad at being a robot. he’s constantly finding out new things about himself and what he can do and excitedly showing them off to his friends like a kid with a new toy. he spent the most important part of his life (in his opinion, bc it’s when he met his friends and started pursuing being a protector) not understanding anything about himself and now he’s constantly discovering something new and it’s so important to me that he’s not reduced to just “the robot guy”. pixal is the one who being a robot comes naturally to, zane is the one who is permanently stuck between human and artificial and at this point is thriving there

Ykno the common critique I've seen around is that trimax fights r hard to follow & such. And I've always had the kind of thought of like "I mean sometimes it can be confusing, but if u stop to study it it's really not that bad"

Having a fight analysis post kinda blow up tho I'm seeing ppl comment over and over in the tags about how hard it is to keep up with the fights... and I'm just like. Is it really that confusing? Like genuinely. I thought it was one of those overblown fan critiques but it seems like a Lot of people agree with it.

hot take but. oda is honestly one of the most interesting prominent side characters in y0 to me. like. don’t get me wrong obviously i don’t condone his actions, but speaking as a character design guy, i think he’s got a whole lot of complexity to think about in his story and identity that people tend to ignore/overlook because he’s not a black and white “good” person. like no shit he’s morally fucked, that doesn’t mean his intense pining and crazed level of dedication to tachibana and the lengths all his guilt and repressed love for the man he saw as the best thing to ever grace his life drove him to aren’t interesting to think about– if anything it makes him more interesting. he was. really something

The subject of how female characters are portrayed in mecha rotates constantly in my head after I watch a mecha with at least one noteworthy female and I do want to at some point do a in depth discussion post about this-but at a way later time because there’s a lot of noteworthy shows I have not seen still to really properly comment and critique this part of the genre-but despite this I wanted to talk about Dorothy from Big O rq:

I’ve been thinking about how Dorothy is one of the better supporting females in the genre despite seeing at least one person point she’s a bit of a damsel in distress. I think what helps Dorothy is she’s not always kidnapped, she has a good amount of episodes where she’s the central focus and not helpless, but for every time she’s kidnapped it seems to wrap around with her saving Roger. The biggest examples I can think of this the third Beck episode where Roger is the one who’s kidnapped and Dorothy manages to outsmart Beck despite him originally kidnapping and controlling her twice-making it super satisfying she finally got back at him-and the finale, where somehow Dorothy, without her memories managed to come back online to recuse Roger and aids him in the finale fight. Dorothy’s entire character arc is about her doing her own thing, BEING her own person, so it makes sense why she’s a bit of a subdivision of the regular damsel in distress. She still gets kidnapped but she’s not helpless and usually returns the favor to Roger, making every time Roger *does* have to recuse her seem out of genuine care and not “this girl I like is in danger and helpless!” (especially because Roger didn’t fully realize her feelings for her until the very end)

That said, even if I think Dorothy is a well done take of a otherwise really bad trope that plagues female characters since she does very much have agency, one thing on reflection that does irk me a bit that would’ve made her character a tad more satisfying is if Dorothy *actually* got to properly pilot Big O:

Every time we’ve seen her in the robots it’s only either been she was unconscious/defenseless-I. E. ep 4 and ep 9-or at the aid of Roger. While the latter is more common, and like I said in the finale she is still very important in helping in the finale fight as she uses herself to power up Big O, multiple times before we have seen her capable of being able to pilot it. Big O may like Roger the most, it is his robot, but it also recognizes Dorothy cares about him just as much as it does, so I think it would’ve been cool even if it was for one episode if she got to pilot it instead, whether it be because Roger got injured or kidnapped.

Or maybe I’m just nitpicking a little and really like the idea of “robot operating a robot” since Dorothy is still one of the best supporting females in the genre, but just because they’re supporting doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed to fully pilot the robot at least once. : p
