Persona Daycare AU presents:
"The Phantom Thieves' Greatest Heist!"
The young group of thieves ran to the pair of swings the moment Theodore opened the backdoor. This was their hideout, and it came to them to defend it. After a quick game of rock, paper, scissors, it was decided that Akira and Makoto would be the ones to sit on the swings for today.
To any outsider they may have looked like little thugs in the making, what with their leader petting his cat plushie like an evil mastermind and the rest of them patroling the swings. It was endearing in its own way.
After a few minutes, the Phantom Thieves began their "meeting".
They took out the masks that they had made during Arts & Crafts; each one personalized with different colors, glitter or drawings; and put them on. This way, no one would know their identities as the ones behind the thievery cases in the daycare. Plus, the masks somehow made everything official.
"Ok! Today's target will be...", Akira, at the moment only answering to 'Joker', looked around for a suitable 'treasure' for them to steal. His eyes finally landed on Philemon's mask, forgotten on the only bench in the playground.
His excitement was already bulding up. They had never stolen from an adult before.
Joker pointed to the mask, "That!"
The rest of the group started to giggle as they prepared for their heist. Futaba-- no, Oracle ran towards the bench and touched the mask before running back to her teammates.
"Route secured!", she proclaimed.
"What does Mona say?", asked Panther.
Joker raised his plushie to his ear and nodded to himself. The rest of the thieves held their breath. Finally, Joker laid Morgana back on his lap.
"He says its ok."
With their mission confirmed, they set off to their objective.
The Phantom Thieves scattered across the playground hiding behind every object they could find as to not be seen, while ignoring the stares of the other children. This was their most important mission, after all. Way more important than when they tried to steal sweets from the kitchen.
Joker himself climbed the slide as quietly as possible. From there he could see Skull giggling to himself as he tiptoed towards the bench, always freezing whenever he came across another kid.
Fox had taken it to himself to crawl across the playground to avoid being seen, a tactic that Joker had to admit, was really smart.
Panther, Noir and Queen had teamed up to slowly walk in a tight knit group, taking a step back whenever they tought they had been spotted.
As always, Oracle stayed behind to yell orders at them.
"Ah! Theo is looking at you!"
"Oh, no! Skull just tripped!"
"Be careful!"
"Watch out!"
"Inari, stop looking at the ladybug. Focus on the mission!"
"Stop!"
"No!"
Once everyone was close enough, Joker slid down and ran to catch up. This way, he would lead the team to the treasure. They regrouped just a few steps away from the bench.
Ever so slowly, Joker reached for the butterfly mask, with his teammates closing in for protection. Slowly... careful... almost there...
With a triumphant grin, Joker took the mask and held it near his chest, careful to not drop Morgana. The group's giggles started again as they prepared to make their escape.
The thieves flinched when the door near the bench opened and a bored-looking Nyarlathotep walked out.
Joker gripped the mask closer to himself, making eye contact with their favorite caretaker. Or at least contact with one of his eyes.
After what seemed like ages, Nyarlathotep smirked at them, "I didn't see anything".
Their giggles turned into a full laugh as they ran back to their hideout.
