Sherlock fandom. John is drowning. Again.
Tumblr media
A sea of tears
John’s father wasn’t exactly what one would call the perfect teacher. He was brusque, tears appalled him, in particular when it came to boys, not to mention grown men. So, when he decided it was time for John to learn how to swim, he didn’t waste any time with preliminary training on land. He’d rented a small rowboat where they were staying at Isle of Grain. Harry and their mother weren’t allowed to join them, and John feared what he was about to endure. He was ten years old, but smaller than his friends, which his father found outrageous for reasons unknown to John.
When John realised the full extent of his father’s plan, he started hyperventilating. He could still see the beach, but it seemed so far away, and he could no longer discern the seabed. The water was too deep for him to stand.
“Dad?” John asked with a trembling voice.
He felt a lump in his throat, and tears were gathering in his eyes. His father didn’t bother answering but stopped rowing. A thick rope was tied around John’s waist, and his father gestured for him to jump into the water.
“If you don’t want to sink and drown, you’d better swim,” his father said. “I find this to be the most efficient way to accomplish the lifesaving skill. One day you’ll thank me for this lesson.”
***
Decades later John finds himself remembering the panic from the so-called swim lesson. He still hasn’t thanked his father. He’d almost drowned that day, because the rope hadn’t been secured properly, and John sank, just like he does now. This time he hasn’t jumped, but one of the criminals on the yacht had thrown John overboard when John was too busy locating Sherlock and his attention had slipped. He can feel his shoes and clothes go heavy and he’s pulled under. John’s never learned how to swim, and now he's depending on being rescued or learning to swim asap, or he will sink and drown. He tries, he really does, but his panic’s surging through his body, and the hyperventilation doesn’t help him one bit. Tears stream down his face and soon mixes with the salty seawater.
His last thought goes to Sherlock. The man he loves more than anything. The man that doesn’t know about John’s feelings. The man married to his work. The man loathing sentiment. John closes his eyes and sinks further.
***
It’s quite nice being dead, John thinks. He’s warm and strong arms are holding him tight. The smell’s familiar too. A smell he loves. John smiles. He must’ve come to heaven. Someone’s speaking and John knows that voice. He would know it anywhere.
“John? Please wake up. You’re safe now. John, please,” the familiar and dear voice murmurs.
A hand strokes his cheek. It’s trembling. Sherlock’s hands never tremble. But it is Sherlock’s voice. With effort John opens his eyes to investigate this strange behaviour from his best friend. John finds himself lying in Sherlock’s lap, and Sherlock’s eyes lights up when they meet John’s gaze.
“John! Thank God,” Sherlock exclaims and tightens his grip on John.
John raises a hand to wipe away a tear running down Sherlock’s cheek.
“I thought I’d lost you, John. Don’t you ever do that again, you hear!” Sherlock whispers shakily.
“I won’t, but I really should learn how to swim, just in case,” John says thoughtfully and kisses Sherlock’s palm.

fic author tag game musings thing
Thank you @sygoflyy for the tag!
How many works do you have on AO3?
412. I am old, y’all
What’s your total AO3 word count?
547,393
What fandoms do you write for?
Currently it’s MCU and TRR
What are your top five fics by kudos?
Windows (OMGCP), Five Times Alexei and Kent Embarrassed Their Teammates, and One Time They Didn’t (OMGCP), On Lost Causes (OMGCP), Inferiority Complex (OMGCP), That Obscure Object (OMGCP)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I almost always respond to comments. I don’t get enough to justify not responding to comments, and I like it when authors respond to my comments. Sometimes I forget or it’s an older story with a very short comment and I might not, or something happened that week to distract me. So it goes.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably This Side of Hell (Sherlock). It’s dark and I just reread the comments and more than one person asked for a sequel that they definitely didn’t receive, so apparently that’s the one.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I guess that depends on what is happiest to people. Most of my pairings are together, sometimes their children are born or are thriving.
Do you get hate on fics?
Only when someone hated the pairing and just wanted to throw a tantrum. That’s been rare.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I write vanilla smut, pegging, tentacles, noncon. Some stories revolve around the smut and some are just incidental.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I’ve written several. The craziest one is probably my OMGCP crossover with Cormac McCarthy’s The Road-“To Cool My Tongue.”
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, a few. I think mostly Sherlock stories.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Sweeter For The Wait (due South) with prudence_dearly and We Never Had This Interchange (TRR) with CertainLittleSmile.
 What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I’m not sure I can choose. Currently it’s SamBucky.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I’m going to be optimistic and say I’ll finish all my WIPs. If I abandon a WIP it’s basically dead to me.
 What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. If things are going poorly, I’ll just write dialogue until I can get over the hurdle.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot. I’m doing NanoWrimo right now, with an original fic idea, and I don’t know how this FBI agent is going to solve this mystery. I have similar issues with fanfic, which is why most stories are short.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Terrifying. I am actually doing this now, but I’m limiting the amount because I’m afraid I’ll mess it up.
First fandom you wrote for?
Due South. Started in 2009.
Fave fic you’ve written?
Just Far Enough (TRR) perhaps. I think I wrote in some notes on it that it was my fanfic magnum opus, lol. I’m pleased with it though.
I think my mutuals may have all done this, but if you see this consider yourself tagged.

20 questions for fic writers
Thanks for tagging me, @i-seeaspaceshipinthe-sky!!
1.how many works do you have on ao3?
Only 2 after I purged and changed my username. I used to have around 10 or 12, I think, but I was embarrassed by my writing and deleted them. Sorta regret doing that. :x
2.what's your total ao3 word count?
1,044! They're both quick one-shots.
3.what fandoms do you write for?
The fics before I deleted everything were mostly Doctor Who and Sherlock. The two there now are for Bad Samaritan. Fics I'm currently working on are for Doctor Who, Misfits, Bad Samaritan, The Umbrella Academy, Red Riding, and Wanted: Dead or Alive.
4.what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
LOL. Well, seeing as I only have two still up, my most kudos'd fic is my Whumptober prompt fill focused on Sean. :)
Before I deleted everything, though, I'd say that my most kudos'd fic was a Doctor Who AU where Rose met Simm!Master. It was also, now that I think about it, 90% whump.
5.do you respond to comments? why or why not?
Always! I love chatting with other people. :)
6.what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Not posted yet, but it will almost certainly be my Bad End AU for Bad Samaritan in which Cale does actually kill Katie and Sean becomes Cale's new project.
7.what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Deleted this one, too, but it was a slice of life kind of fic about the Tenth Doctor and Rose going out for chips before heading off on their next big adventure. Fluff and silliness all around. Maybe one day I'll rewrite it.
8.do you get hate on any fics?
No, but I did get a weird comment on a Teen Titan fic where someone started talking as if their OC was part of my fic, then began roleplaying with themselves in my comments. It was really weird lol
9.do you write smut? if so, what kind?
I dooooo, but I'm too shy to post it. Maybe one day. Usually the smut I write is pretty emotionally charged, whether it's happy emotions or sad/angry/whatever... I'm not often too interested in writing PWP (or at least, not to post lol)
10.do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
I loooooove crossovers. I haven't written too many crazy ones, though. I guess the most tonally jarring one would be a Doctor Who/Red Riding or Doctor Who/Bad Samaritan WIP I tossed around for a little bit before deciding that it was more fun for me to think about than actually write.
11.have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of!
12.have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13.have you ever co-written a fic before?
A few times! One I love the most is an Umbrella Academy fic that was supposed to pick up immediately after S2. Me and my friend had planned on finishing it and posting before S3 but life got busy and it's back in WIP hell.
14.what's your all time favorite ship?
I'm too much of a shipper to answer this question LOL. I can't possibly pick just one.
15.what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
All of them. D: I simply cannot get over the fear of being bad or boring. It's like hitting a brick wall every time I try to finish or post.
16.what are your writing strengths?
People have told me that I'm pretty good at understanding the psychology of characters that I write and that makes me happy. It's my favorite thing to sink my teeth into.
17.what are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing is hard for me, and just getting plots out onto the page is hard. I know what I want, but getting a character from point A to point B in an interesting way is like pulling teeth. Which is insane because that's such a necessary thing lol
18.thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
No opinion! Write what you want.
19.first fandom you wrote for?
LOL probably Sonic the Hegehog when I was 9.
20.favorite fic you've written?
Unfortunately I do not have one. :x
Most of my favorite writing has been with other people through roleplay. I think that's where my writing creativity tends to shine. It's just a little sad it's not something I can easily share with others.

Tagging! @salvador-daley, @jozstankovich, @crabstick, @elliethesuperfruitlover, and I am totally blanking rn so actually anyone who wants to! sdkfls sorry! long day

20 questions for Writers!
been tagged by @sinvulkt in this awesome Tag game! thanks a lot!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently, I have a 19 works on AO3, working on making it 20 by the end of this month
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
Im at 131,179 words. Considering I have a few smaller works it makes sense
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I mainly write in the Star Wars fandom and Hetalia (but as of now solely fics that feature my APH Québec OC) But I have fics in the Good Omens fandom, Heathers the Musical, Five Nights at Freddy's Loki (TV), and I am currently writing a Harry Potter longshot
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Ring of Fire, the first part of my Deserter Darth Vader AU
What Are You Waiting For, a tragic Heather Chandler/Veronica Sawyer fic
Whatever's still to come, my Elizabeth Afton Lives au in the FNAF fandom
More beautiful than flowers... , a FrUK fic with lots of flower language.
Truth for the Daughter, where Leia finds out who Anakin Skywalker used to be in my Deserter Darth Vader AU
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always try to respond to my comments, since I don't get so many, they are always welcome. I enjoy the feedback and the compliments, and I always want to respond! <3
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
What Are You Waiting For is definitely up there, considering one of the character of the main pairing is dead from the start.
I also have two super short fics in french about my Hetalia OC Québec that I consider gut wrenching, but they haven't been read much
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The World We Knew, my Good Omens fix it fic after the devastating season 2 finale. it definitely has a lot of angst in it too, but the ending is pure fluff!
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
It has never happened, but at the same time I'm not a big author either.
9. Do you write smut?
I tried once, didn't go through with it. It was for a FrUK fic, which I didn't really like and deleted.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Before posting on AO3, it happened, it was a Marvel characters in Hogwarts thing.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, but once again, I'm not very well known.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I wish!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Yeah, the Marvel at Hogwarts thing a lifetime ago. And also a historical fiction that never got posted anywhere.
14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
Oooh that's a tough one! It varies like each months or so. I think I haven't even written much for it directly, but Anidala!
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My FNAF fic. I have a super long and detailed AU outline with complexe character growth and tons of family angst with the Afton and Lizzy eventually taking over Fazbear Entertainement, but I lack time. In the meantime, I made a few artworks of it under the tag elizabeth afton lives au if you are interested.
16. What’s your writing strengths?
I'd say the inner monologue and the highly emotional scenes. I love to delve on the psyche and add parallels that hurt just write and use gut wrenching metaphors.
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
Highly action dense scenes. I struggle with the pacing because I picture it clearly in my mind and can't put it into words.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
It can be nice, but considering that sometime I see it with my own language, French, and with considerable mistakes, it can be annoying. I'd avise to contact someone who speaks that language a bit to crossverify google translate, that's much more fun for speakers
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Surprisingly enough, BBC Sherlock. The fic was on Wattpad and I haven't reposted it, it was a bit mid not going to lie.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Not very controversial take, my favourite fic I've ever written is Truth for the Daughter. I've written it in the kitchen, with my own step-dad checking up on me as I struggled with some scenes. It may be full of father-daughter angst but it was written with a lot of father-daughter love. It is dedicated to my step-dad, who passed away last year because of that, and so is Interlude: A son and his father , which I completed not long before his passing. These parental fics just hold a special place in my heart <3
Well this was nice!
To conclude, I'd like to tag : @dreamingamongthestars @yaqamole @claralarmclock @phe-oh-no and any other author mutual I might have forgotten!!

Author Interview
I was tagged by @galadrieljones to complete this interview. I'm 99.9% sure I've done this before, but I can't find so... New year, new interview! I'm always glad to fill one of these out :) Thank you so much, my dear!
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
48
2. what's your total AO3 word count?
684,609
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Actively writing: Hellcheer (Stranger Things) and Bethyl (The Walking Dead)
I have also written for BBC's Sherlock, The Dresden Files and MCU (Loki)
4. what are your top five fics by kudos?
Get The Hell On With It (Sherlock)
The Memory Remains (Hellcheer)
The Writing on the Wall (Hellcheer)
My Cup Runneth Over (Hellcheer)
A Very Merry Christmas Indeed (Sherlock)
5. do you respond to comments?
Always! It's a wonderful way to connect and interact with my readers.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
None of my stories have angsty endings for the main characters - there might be some angst in the story, but I always aim for a happy ending.
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
They all have happy endings, but I'd say The Writing on the Wall because he gets the girl and a kick-ass grade from O'Donnell.
8. do you get hate on fics?
I've never received outright hate - I've had a commenter dislike something insensitive a character said, but I don't consider that hate.
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Yes - graphic smut
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
No. I'm not a fan of crossovers - they just don't appeal to me.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of.
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of.
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I haven't.
14. what's your all-time favourite ship?
I'd have to say Hellcheer simply because I'm still immersed in it and actively writing. My ships are all-encompassing while I like them, then they move to the slow burner when a new one piques my interest.
15. what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have an original fic where about three quarters of it is written, but I'm not really sure how to end it so it's just hanging there until my muse kicks back in.
16. what are your writing strengths?
I'd like to think my humour resonates with my readers - I often get comments about making people laugh.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
Scene setting, I'd say - what's going on around the characters while they interact, like in the background. Oh, and writing "a bit" all. The. Time...
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have done this! Meant To Be has Darcy and Loki traveling to southern France, so they do encounter a lot of French.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
I would say Due South? Back in the prehistoric 90's...
20. favourite fic you've written?
I would have to say The Writing on the Wall - it's sexy, it's funny, I love the version of O'Donnell in that story. It hit a lot of highs for me.
Tagging: @staceymcgillicuddy, @im-immortal, @justhere4thevibez, @chrissy-n-eddie and anyone else who wants to join in!!

Profile Info, I guess
Guess it's time I made this cuz I don't wanna see certain things on here.
Okay, how do I do this...
Right, um. Hi, I post literally whatever comes to mind, which is mostly random polls and thoughts on stuff. I do post thoughts and bad art about stuff, but not usually. Call me minute, I guess that works. I go by she/her.
To be 100 percent clear, no racism, sexism, queerphobia, extremism, etc. I support LGBTQ+ communities, all that fun stuff. Also, no sexual crap on here, please. If you're into that, okay, just don't be on here because I'm not. (Seriously, do NOT interact at ALL if that kinda stuff is what’s on your blog, please and thank you.)
I'm essentially fine with whatever you believe in, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone physically, mentally or emotionally. If you're shoving your opinion down my or someone else's throat, get out please.
Okay, moving on, I dunno how to do this, so bear with me here.
Right, so, I post polls and thoughts and stuff. I appreciate reblogs and comments, I like hearing people's ideas and perspectives. Asks are on for now, if any one at any point breaches these terms they go off.
Editing this for the first time. I do have a small fic I upload on tumblr only, might as well link that here so people don't have to scroll for it. It's called Where the Stars Don't Shine, that's also how it's tagged on here. I'll reblog the og chapter link post every time I upload a new chapter, but the master thing for it is here.
Edit: This is up on ao3 now! Link is here.
Psst. Second edit. I have ocs now. Look at my beautiful creations.
Pulsar
Loop Doup & Bloo
Wow, third edit. Here's some aus you can ask me about (expect rambling):
Narnia Au
Witch Au
Su au (very dead, but I still have ideas about it)
Truman Show au
Oh right also this here Dentist Au (it's not an au, I'm putting it here so I don't lose it again. You can stil ask questions about it tho)
Any other written ideas go under an 'au idea' or 'drabbles' tag (they're not drabbles, but that's where they go).
Yeah, that's all I can think of. I'm not a frequent poster (by that I mean I’ll be on for like 3 straight weeks and then won’t show up for a couple days), and barely anyone sees what I post, but I don't really care. Just don't send explicit or insulting crap and we'll get along fine.
(I follow the fnaf DCA fandom, and sometimes Undertale stuff. I like the Mouse Detective, Sherlock Holmes and Watson stuff, and Sonic the Hedgehog, in that order. Oh yeah also The Amazing Digital Circus is really cool and possibly a new hyper-fixation.)

Fic Rec Friday (into Saturday)
Thanks for mentioning me, @carolrain.
This week’s theme:  a fic that makes you laugh or that makes you smile so much your cheeks hurt
The rules:  Tag a fic that makes you laugh/smile so much your cheeks hurt and give a brief description of why it’s awesome. Then tag some fellow associates. The wider the reach, the better. Nature and Nurture by earlgreytea68 (Sherlock TV). 203K words (Take small bites. You'll be fine.) I went on holiday from my Schitt's Creek comfort zone into Sherlock (TV) a couple of years ago. There are some gems in this fandom! Here's the summary: The British Government accidentally clones Sherlock Holmes. Which brings a baby to 221B Baker Street. Sherlock finds out about Mycroft's little experimental human and decides to raise the baby, with John's help, away from poking, prodding specialists. So he can poke and prod himself, obviously. Sherlock is about as natural and intuitive a parent as one would expect. John tempers Sherlock's worst impulses, and voila! a family is created. I don't LOL on the regular, but I chortled, guffawed, and tittered at the writer's interpretations of Baby's Oliver's reactions and thought processes. ++++++++++++++++ Oliver gave her a narrow-eyed look and said, “Dead,” by which he meant, I would like to see your medical license. Or possibly just, I don’t like you, you can stop existing now. Either would have been okay with Sherlock. ++++++++++++++++ Tagging @welcometololaland and the first five people in my notifications (this is my new strategy to get my over my tagging phobia): @demora00 @fictasticvoyage @jettestar @smblmn @apothecarose and a bonus tag for @statueinthestone

For the ao3 asks: 3, 12, 29?
3.) What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
This is a hard pick because there are several in there that I'm particularly proud of.
I think collectively I'm most proud of The Man in the Lightning series. It's definitely a crack fic idea to me still - but it was a fun challenge to make a version of Eobard who is distinctly likable despite having murdered Nora as well as crafting a version of Barry who is understandably grateful Nora is dead. I wanted them to still be recognizable as variations of their canon selves, but very different takes on the characters too. And, of course, for the romantic ship to make sense without being manipulative on either end. Barry's up front about wanting to convince Eobard what they're building is worth staying in the past for and Eobard is too bewildered by Barry's clear interest in him to do any real manipulating on that front before Barry's Sherlock Scan Skills tell him that Eobard and the Reverse Flash kiss the same, ergo they are the same.
It's a series that I look forward to returning to, but I'm really satisfied with what's already there.
12.) How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
Oh gosh. A lot. Um... let me check. And this is not gonna be an exact number because I know I have them scattered all over the place.
We'll say about 55 WiP files I have an active interest in and I'm gonna stop counting now because I have a lot that are from many years ago for fandoms I'm not currently interested in writing for but who knows what'd happen if I rewatched/reread/replayed the source material.
There's definitely a lot of things I wanted to write this year that I didn't get around to because between the reno in the spring and the summer of the wasps, I was pretty burnt out a lot of the time. So there's a lot I started but never finished and hopefully I'll be able to finish those in 2024 despite having more reno plans. (Much smaller scale reno plans, thankfully, I can't take another round of the closet debacle.)
29.) Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
It was a very complicated question. Possibly more than either of them could really articulate. Barry had to take a moment to really put thought into how he phrased things. “The future is yet unwritten. Just because we see a possible future doesn’t mean it’s written in stone; our choices determine what really happens. But the past makes us who we are. To unwrite that would be to destroy our selves,” Barry said. “Jay was always insistent that I live my life for myself. He’d have been disappointed if I let myself get so caught up in living in the past that I stopped having a future altogether. Especially if I did it over him.”
Barry Allen (E-90) talking to Barry Allen (E-1) from Homeward
It was a difficult conversation to write, but I really like how it all fell out. And though neither Barry knows it, this conversation is what stops E-1 Barry from causing Flashpoint. I really enjoyed writing the whole fic (thanks @avatarskywalker78 for requesting it) and coming up with headcanons for the Allen twins of E-90.

Hello! I hope you are feeling awesome 😎 i read another ask about Louis and finances on here a while back and I thought about Sherlock hehe. What do you think about Sherly struggling to pay rent in the early chapters ? I’m sure he’s from a well off family (from his father’s side) and he has some inheritance money left over if his parents are in fact deceased? I’m positive his parents didn’t leave him with nothing. Plus Mycroft currently appears well off too. I don’t get how he could not afford to pay Ms. Hudson rent every month. Do you think he was trying to be independent and not rely on his parents money? Ok, thank you, bye!
I am feeling pretty good! Very occupied at the moment, but you caught me in a slower moment this week.
Mycroft and Sherlock have never mentioned whether or not their parents are alive. I find the presumption that they're dead from some people in fandom...odd? Like? We don't know that?
We know, honestly, almost nothing about the Holmes boys' parents except the following:
Sherlock got his accent from his mother's side of the family and seems stubbornly proud of it
Their paternal line has roughly 100 years of government service to the queen.
Their mother was in North Riding in early January for some reason twice seven years apart.
We don't actually know that he's from a well-off family. We don't know much about his family at all, and titles and wealth are not the same thing. He has a Stradivarius, but we don't actually know how or where he got it from.
He also makes a comment in volume five about Mycroft "pretending" to be part of high society—which indicates that they weren't raised as part of it. They're both terribly smart, and the family works for the royal family, but that could have been in many capacities, not necessarily Mycroft's high-ranking position. Hell, they could've been spies who for all appearances were poorer country folk (North Riding is very rural, and Southern England has a lot of Opinions about the classiness and wealth of Northern England—it's not a traditionally wealthy area).
Sherlock is also only 24 when the series. In the Victorian era, that was. Quite young for a well-off man. If his parents are deceased, and if he had much inheritance as the second son (oof, unlikely, given England's strong tradition of primogeniture—it'd have gone to Mycroft), it could very well still be in a trust with limited access for him, or even under Mycroft's control—and he wouldn't ask Mycroft.
Anyway, all of this is to say that I don't actually think he has a lot of family money, although whether or not that's related to his rent delinquency is a whole other question.

Learn to respect your madam
Tumblr media
Fandom: Moriarty the Patriot
Character: Sherlock Holmes
Third person pov
You are the noble lady who is with non noble man in relationship. Your parents are dead and you got family business. Your boyfriend Sherlock Holmes is the famous detective who for some reason didn’t work for Jard. You asked your boyfriend to go with you on Noatick, you didn’t want to be alone there so he said yes. He doesn’t like when you spoil him sometimes, now you “spoiled” him. You just booked a luxury room for you two.
“You didn’t have to book this room for us” he said a little bit annoyed.
“You will not pay me back. I know you hate this room just bc you cant pay me half of the amount of the room. I don’t need money baby so don’t worry” you said and kissed your lover.
“Tonight I have a dinner with Lords Roberts, and I would love for you to come with me”.
Sherlock just noded.
/dinner/
“My love after this dinner we will go walking around the Notaick”, you said and Roberts brothers were confused.
Why tho you make decisions
“Sure, love”
As 5 of you were sitting and chatting, you saw that your boyfriend wasn’t happy that he was here. You will pay him back for this sacrifice.
“Im sorry my gentlemans i need to excuse myself. I will be right back”, you said and went to bathroom.
/Sherlock pov/
As my girlfriend left somewhere, i heard what this mans were talking about.
“You know, I've always thought it best when I've had the choice, that a woman should be silent and have no voice”, one said
“When a maiden with a mind meets a man with power, she must know her place or it all goes sour”, other said
“As men of wealth”, first
“Influence”, second
“Prestige”, and the third one let his voice
“Are we not all fine specimens?”, second asked
“Indeed”, all of them said
“They think that love is blind and it can't be bought”, third said.
“Yes, but that's a lesson, and it can be taught”, first told his brother.
“Yeah, listen to the man and ignore the wife, that's the only way for a happy life”, second one
“The choice is simple: choose me and thrive”, first said
“Or have it your way and be burned alive”, third one said
And after that everybody started laughing. THIS MANS. They don’t know how to treat women.
“Neee Sherlock, you need to learn this things, you cant let Lady (last name) to tell you what to do”, first Robert said and i just snapped.
“YOU NEED TO LEARN TI RESPECT WOMENS. SHE CAN HAVE A VOICE AND SHE CAN MAKE DECISIONS TOO.”
They looked at me in shock as i was ready ti attack wirh another lecture i felt gentle little hands tapping my back.
“De, de Sherly. Don’t be so mad, everybody has there thoughts”, my beautiful girlfriend told me and took my hand.
“Im sorry gentlemens but we will take our leave now.”
She said and we left them with shock faces. As we were walking around Noatick, we were silent.
“Im sorry my love for making a scene there”, i said with sad look.
I was sorry for that, maybe this will make her problems i know this noble worlds and there reputation can go down really easy.
“Don’t be sweetheart. You did good thing”.
As i heard this beautiful voice she had i was in 7th sky.
“You have a beautiful voice baby”, i said and kissed her.
“Hahaha thank you my love”.
We kissed and spent this beautiful night together.

For the Fanfic Writer Ask Meme: B, E, N, R :D
Thanks very much for the ask!
B:  What was the first fandom you read fic in?  Which was the first you wrote fic for?
Oh man, I'm going to date myself here. xD My very first fic-reading fandom was The X-Files, way back in the day. The first fandom I ever wrote anything for was Sherlock Holmes (I'm sorry, I'm an incredible nerd!), but of course it's just MGS nowadays.
E: What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?
Ah, in the MGS world I'd have to go with Otacon - I imagine he's a popular choice, lol. I suspect most of us have a little "stammering, insecure scientist who happens to be in love with the big beefy jock" somewhere deep down inside.
In all seriousness, though, I've always found Otacon to be one of the more heroic characters in the series, in his own quiet way. He overcomes a lot of personal baggage, and his own fear/insecurity issues, and always manages to Get Shit Done when push comes to shove. He doesn't do the flashy, 'blowing-things-up' part of the job, but he's consistently shown to be very competent at what he does. And when he has to do something that's very much NOT in his wheelhouse (like dragging his half-dead partner out of a river during a manhunt, or flying a helicopter full of hostages to safety right after watching his sister die), he steps up to the plate and does what needs doing.
In terms of fic, I'd say probably Taught By Thirst?? I am a huge sucker for Otacon being a terrified-but-competent badass in the immediate post-tanker aftermath, and that's a huge part of what that particular fic is about. He's the biggest unsung hero of the series, truly. ❤
N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?
So many, lol! My problem is that I'm an *incredibly* slow, plodding writer, so it takes a long time to actually get anything to fruition.
Currently, I'm working on finishing up the last chapter of Or Else The Light... which is coming along nicely but DEAR GOD, it's going to be long. 😫 Hoping to have it done and posted sometime in the next couple of weeks or so.
Once that's finished, I do have several other ideas on the docket. In no particular order, they include:
Another longish, multi-chapter fic in the same series as Taught By Thirst, Everything That Rises, and Or Else The Light - set in the time period between MGS2 and 4, and dealing with their acquisition of Sunny and the start of Snake's accelerated aging issues.
A smutty 'sneaking suit sex' one-shot, because God knows I like PWPs as much as the next person and I have *thoughts* about how this might go down.
A "five times this happened" kind of thing with several loosely-related vignettes taking place at different times in the series, centered around scenarios where Snake runs into trouble in the field and Otacon has to deal with the aftermath - featuring different moods (awkward, funny/cute, angsty, etc.) depending on the details. Would likely include some bits from very early Philanthropy era, MGS4 era, and everything in between... kind of, tracing the evolution of their partnership (and, ahem... *partnership*, if you catch my drift) over time, through that lens.
R: Which writers (fanfic or otherwise) do you consider the biggest influence on you and your writing?
OH MAN, that's a tough one. I honestly think I take a little something away from almost everything I read, whether it's related to phrasing, word choice, character development, plotting, etc.
Because the truth is - writing any kind of fiction is fucking HARD, y'all. Much harder than I would have guessed, before I'd ever tried it myself. (How the fuck do people do this for a living??? Hats off, for real.) So nowadays, I like to pay attention to the mechanics of how the author is doing things when I read.
In terms of fanfic, when I was pretty heavily involved in the SH fandom, there was an absolutely amazing writer I still remember - she was very prolific, and her stuff was absolutely S-tier in every way. Beautiful prose, beautiful dialogue, story structure/theme that just got better the more you analyzed it, etc. Reading her stuff felt like reading a really excellent, beautifully-written published novel, and that was the first time it really struck me that fanfic could be... *that*, you know?
Don't get me wrong - I also like quick little character studies, and fun trashy smut, and everything in between! I also love that writing fanfic is something that literally anyone can try their hand at, and no one is necessarily expecting that you're going to sound like James Joyce. There is very little pressure to be "good", however one might try to define that - kind of like singing karaoke, in a bar. 😂 We're all just here to have fun, first and foremost.
BUT - I still remember the impression that made on me. And I still think about her now, when I write.
In the real world of published writing, there are SO MANY wonderful authors whose stuff I've loved. But in terms of... writing style, I guess? Word choice and phrasing, and the way a story is constructed - probably the two biggest standouts for me are Margaret Atwood and Tana French. I admire both of them tremendously.

Chamber of Reflection
Fandom: BBC Sherlock Pairing: Sherlock Holmes x Male!Reader Summary: Oh dearest Sherlock, are you ready to move on? Word Count: 2,329 Warning: Blood and Death
Tumblr media
“I don’t believe in love.”
You scoff out a laughter before turning to look at them, your smile dropped as you looked at them incredulously, “You’re kidding me right?”
“No?” They questioned back as if it was totally obvious because that’s how they were as a person, “I just don’t believe in love.”
“Impossible,” You shake your head, “Everyone believes in love, you, you’re different. You believe you don’t deserve love. That’s a whole different thing.”
Sherlock rolls his eyes, “Same thing.”
“Absolutely not, Sherlock,” You folded your arms over your chest, “Your mother loves you, that’s family love. John loves you, that’s platonic love. I love you.”
“What type of love is that?”
“Figure it out, smartass.”
He never really figured it out.
Tumblr media
Sherlock was smart, but he’s dumb at the same time.
He could rattle your ear off with different topics that he was interested in. He could give you a rundown about who you are and he probably knew you better than you knew yourself. But, give him a topic on a basic thing - he’ll malfunction.
“The planets? Sherlock, surely you couldn’t have deleted that out your head.”
“You underestimate me, (Y/n).”
“Clearly,” You replied dryly, rolling your eyes, “But, I know you didn’t bring me here to talk about what basic stuff you’ve decided to ignore or have deleted from your so-called hardware.”
“At least you’re able to keep up with me,” Sherlock comments as you give yourself a little nod to the side as acknowledgement.
“Well, what is it?”
“Talk to me more about love, please.”
You narrow your eye at him, tilting your head to the side for a second, you were suspicious of his intention before sighing and tending to his question - after all, it is rare to have Sherlock say please, it’s not an opportunity to pass up.
“How desperate must you be for this information as you did say please.”
“Don’t mock me.”
“Alright,” you had your hands up in defence, “Well, love is different to each person and I can’t really help you that much Sherlock because it’s a learning process and it’ll be brutal. In a...somewhat good way.”
“That doesn’t explain anything at all!”
You couldn’t help but laugh, shaking your head, “When you love someone, you just kinda know.”
“Right.”
“And...”
“Well, spit it out.”
You give him a soft smile, almost as if you knew something he didn’t know. Like you had to bit your tongue and refuse to tell him. He looks at your eyes, there is a glint of sadness, though he doesn’t comment on it as he allows you to speak.
“Love is going to ruin you someday, it doesn't matter if you don't believe in love, it doesn't matter if you think that you don't have the capacity to love someone, nothing matters. What matter is that one day you will fall in love and fall so hard that it will ruin you to the point that you will not be able to think correctly, to the point that your illness and cure both will be the love of your life, love will ruin you to the point you will look for sanity in insanity.”
Tumblr media
“Back again so soon, Sherlock?”
He doesn’t answer you as he stands across from where you had claimed as your spot, you tilt your head in confusion at his silence, Sherlock loves to talk so why isn’t he talking.
“Must be a rough day then, ay Sherlock?” You continue to talk, “I don’t blame you, having a fight with your best friend and then your brother being annoying as ever - Mycroft just doesn’t shut up.”
“How do you know about my day, this is the first time I’ve seen you this week?” Sherlock questions.
You knitted your eyebrows together, your lips pursed together, as you give him room to think before interrupting.
“When will you come to the terms that you’re the one who killed me?”
At that moment, Sherlock stops. If a record of music was playing then it did the scratching halt. Sherlock looks over to your way, he didn’t realise that at some point he had stopped looking at you, you sat there with your arms crossed over your chest.
“You’re not dead.”
“Not in your mind palace, Sherlock,” You say, you look at your surrounding, “In here, I’m very much...alive.”
“You’re not dead,” Sherlock stammers out, blinking frantically, “You’re here, in front of me.”
You dismissed his words, “Funny, each time you come to talk to me, we’re in the same room you killed me in. I have to give you props, though, you really have memorised the room I died.”
“It was your house.”
“Yeah!” You snapped your finger and pointed to him, “You remembered, I’m slightly touched.”
“You can’t be dead.”
“And we’re back to denial,” You hummed, sitting comfortably on the edge of the sink, “Look around you Sherlock, you’re just blocking and deleting things out.”
“No, I am not.”
“Look at the blood, Sherlock.”
Your voice was firm as he shuts his eyes, hoping you had calm down because he could clearly hear anger behind the words you spat. Sherlock opens his eyes and there, he saw the full picture.
You sat on the sink of the kitchen, behind you were the windows and adjacent to your head was cabinets. Both were painted with the splatter of blood. He looked at your appearance, there was red upon your hands and your clothes...
Your clothes, every time he had visited you, you were still in the same clothes - he wouldn’t have mentioned anything to you about it, he knows from you and John that pointing stuff out can be offensive.
Your clothes, they were drenched in blood - your blood.
“Look me in the eyes, Sherlock, look at me.”
Sherlock doesn’t want to, he wants to rearrange the whole scenario and pretend that everything was rainbows and happy, yet he looked at you. He stared deep into your eyes and had to stop himself from gagging at the scene.
There was a bullet hole at your forehead, dried blood seems to drip from the wound when it was fresh.
“Don’t you remember Sherlock?” You asked, looking at him, “You killed, but at what cost?”
“I-”
“I mean, I know why you killed me, after all, I’m just living in your head so I get to know about what you’re thinking and all. But, I really want to hear it from your own mouth.”
Sherlock felt like he was stuck in this nightmare because essentially he was, he couldn’t just snap back into reality or wake up from his sleep. He felt like you had restraints on him and he’s unable to breakthrough.
“I killed you...” He murmurs as you lean forward, “I killed you because I loved you.”
You chuckled, softly, “Love, it makes you do real crazy things.”
See, Sherlock kept you in his head because you were important to him. You were his first and only love, you and Sherlock have known each other since primary school. You had been his only friend, even if he kept pushing you away.
You were the only one who could keep up with his smarts and his weird little thinking, but you were by his side - his first best friend. The man he loved. When the two of you got into high school, you and him were often seen together. You humanised Sherlock, back then he understood what it means to feel.
He was human back then, not this sociopathic man that he grew up to be. Sherlock loved you, just like you loved him. Even if you never really said anything out loud, he knew that you loved him with the way you grabbed him by his wrist and leading him away, it was the soft smile, gentle looks and caring words.
He wished he was able to spend a little longer being your boyfriend because you two managed fess up your feelings when you were eighteen. You were about to go to University, away from Sherlock. He wished he had mustered the courage to ask you to be his boyfriend years before.
“Sherlock, I’m not mad that you killed me.”
Sherlock snapped back into his room with you, you looked at him with the same caring eyes he grew up with, he tilts his head in confusion, he’s missing something in this memory - did he block it out or did he deleted it forever?
“They would have killed me anyway, I don’t have a life further than this Sherlock, both you and I know this,” He listens to your tender voice carefully, you’re no longer angry at him just angry that Sherlock refuses to move on, “You and I did it, Sherlock, you framed the murder perfectly on them.”
Them.
Who was them?
Sherlock looks at you before he hurled himself into the memory.
Tumblr media
“You’re bleeding!”
“I’m quite aware of that Sherlock!”
Sherlock stands by the doorway of the kitchen, it’s messy as you sat on the sink, lifting your shirt to see the wound. You cringed, even Sherlock couldn’t remember what had happened to make you look like this and losing blood rapidly.
“You’re being remarkably calm about this.”
“Thanks, it’s the shock. Give me fifteen minutes, the screaming will happen,” You say, pulling your shirt down and you looking at your boyfriend.
“We need to take you to the hospital.”
“Absolutely not, Sherlock, if they found out I went there. They’ll kill me!”
“They’ll kill you either way!” Sherlock pressed on, “Please, there must be some other way.”
“You kill me,” You said almost immediately, you looked at him with sharp eyes.
“No, (Y/n), no, are you an idiot?” Sherlock hissed at you, “There is another way, we just have to think about it.”
“We don’t have time to think, Sherlock,” You admitted, “They kill me, they’ll hind the evidence and go live another day, free, do you want that for me?”
“Of course not!” Sherlock was offended that you would suggest that, “I can prove that they kill you, I can do it - you can trust me.”
“I trust you, Sher,” You say, desperate and lovingly, “But, wouldn’t it be better to frame them?”
Sherlock stood there, weighing out the pros and cons in your thinking. Perhaps it was clouded, his judgement as he sees you point out a gun on the kitchen table and reminding him to use a glove so they don’t pick up any of his fingerprints.
What was going through Sherlock’s mind? He wouldn’t be able to tell you, because when he aimed the gun at you there was no thought behind his eyes. You swallowed nervously.
“Hey, Sherlock?”
“Yes?”
“Just know I love you, and I will never hold it against you.”
“I know.”
Tumblr media
“Sherlock?” He looks back at you, “Oh, good, you’re responsive.”
“I never said I love you.”
“Oh, Sherlock,” you laughed, he pretends that it didn’t slightly hurt him, “You think I didn’t know?”
Sherlock looked down then back up at you, you were back in clean clothes and the surrounding of your kitchen was clean. Though, you didn’t look phased.
“I mean-”
You raised an eyebrow, “You did at least frame them right? My parents?”
Sherlock knitted his eyebrows, “No.”
“No?”
“No.”
“Oh.”
Sherlock looks at you, watches you breathe in and out, there was a clear disappointment and you had stopped intensely watching him. You turn to look back at him, he was surprised to see you smile at him as you clapped your hand.
“Well, I’m not going to shy away from saying that I am disappointed, perhaps that’s why you blocked out the memory,” You spoke, crossing your arms.
“I can fix it!”
“Can you?”
“I made a name for myself, (Y/n), Mycroft can help me as well as Craig-”
“Greg-”
“Whatever, and we can finally bring you justice, maybe you could be at peace.”
“It’s not me that I’m concern for peace, Sherlock, you’re the one who keeps me alive in your mind palace,” You admitted as you lay down the reality of Sherlock, “It’s time to let me go. The question is: Are you ready?”
Tumblr media
Mycroft comes knocking at the door, he was greeted by John.
“Sherlock is busy,” John says from his armchair as Mycroft enters without a proper invite.
Mycroft looks around the room before stopping at the bookshelves, a picture frame that was permanently situated as face down was now standing, showing the picture that was kept hidden from the world.
Mycroft makes his way towards it as John looks at him.
“Sherlock put it up yesterday, along with a new case.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Mycroft leered, softly smiling to himself, “What’s the case about?”
“The murder of (Y/n) (L/n), Sherlock is convinced that it wasn’t suicide, though I don’t know how he knows about the case, that was closed over a decade ago - at least that’s was Lestrade said.”
“Watson, do you know who is standing next to Sherlock in this picture?”
John looked at the picture, he could recognise Sherlock when he was younger. he still had the curls and bright blue eyes, standing straight up, next to him was a boy smiling and had his arm over the sociopath’s shoulder - though back then, you could hardly call Sherlock a sociopath.
“No?”
“That is (Y/n) (L/n),” Mycroft says as John’s eyebrow raised up, “He is the reason why Sherlock snapped and changed in his behaviour. His death caused Sherlock to lose his pathway.”
“He means a lot to Sherlock?”
“Well, he is the only person Sherlock truly love romantically. Perhaps the first and love of Sherlock.”
“Sherlock loved him?”
“He still does, it’s why he’s reopening this case because dear Watson, between us two and Sherlock. This is not a case to solve a murder, this is to frame someone of murder and we’re going to help him.”

"I know it, that you are watching us Sherlock."
Sherlock wanted to protest at first, but he knew the man was perceptive and there was no point in trying to lie to him.
"I admit it," he sighed.
"I suspect you have no malicious intent," Greg said kindly, "but I would like to know why."
Sherlock thought about what he would say in response.
He could see that his brother was happy. Even though to outsiders, Mycroft's attitude hadn't fundamentally changed. Sherlock could see it. He could see that he had changed, or rather that he had become the best version of himself. Perhaps he saw it because more or less the same thing had happened to him.
He knew it was partly because of Greg, but he needed to see it with his own eyes. Sherlock needed proof. Like an investigation, his intuition was telling him things, but he needed to explain them.
He needed to see Mycroft and Greg. In their daily lives. So he had watched for every moment he could spy on them during their annual stay at their parents' residence.
As he tried to articulate his answer to Greg, he gathered all the evidence he had been able to gather that his brother was happy.
**********
On the first night of their stay as he was walking to his room, as he passed Mycroft's room he heard Lestrade's voice, "We're on vacation for a few days Myke, don't you think you could start to relax?"
Myke? And his brother was letting him call him that when not earlier he had again admonished their mother to call him by his first name!
"I know..." sighed his brother, "But it's kind of like when I travel far away, I need to adjust."
"Hm. Come on, let me help you." said Greg softly in a voice Sherlock didn't know.
Sherlock heard the typical creak of his brother's bed and ventured to take a look. It was only his self-control that kept him from reacting in surprise.
Greg was sitting behind Mycroft against the headboard and made him lean forward a little.Mycroft's eyes were closed and everything in his attitude showed that this was not something unusual.
When Greg's hands began to massage his brother's shoulders, Mycroft did not flinch or protest. He turned his back to someone and let them touch him.
Not so long ago, such a touch would have been unimaginable. If it were anyone other than Greg, Sherlock thought, Mycroft would never have allowed it.
Sherlock could hardly tear himself away from the scene, so fascinated was he.
Greg stopped, his hands slid over Mycroft's shoulders and Mycroft held his head back with a gentle smile on his face, a smile that Sherlock did not recognize.
Greg leaned over him and kissed him gently.
Sherlock realized it was time for him to retire.
********
"I knew you'd do me good at some way at some time. I saw it in your eyes when I first beheld you."
Sherlock had just entered one of the small salons of his parents' house, looking for something to read, and stopped dead in front of the incredible scene he had before him.
Greg was lying on the couch, his head on Mycroft's lap, Mycroft had one hand in his hair and in the other hand a book.
Sherlock held his breath, for the two men had neither seen nor heard him.
Greg said quietly, "Wait, I know that phrase, I've heard it before. Not read it, but heard it."
"Jane Eyre." replied Mycroft as he continued to brush Greg's already disheveled hair.
"Sure, I remember, one of my exes, yes yes I know you don't like it when I mention them. Anyway, she forced me to watch this movie from the 90s I think with William Hurt. And even if sometimes there are some long stretches, it wasn't too bad. Not my cup of tea, but not unpleasant either."
Mycroft nodded, "Then don't read the book, it's even longer. But some of the ideas are extremely interesting. Some things in Jane remind me of you."
Sherlock had to restrain himself from laughing at the idea of Lestrade impersonating Jane Eyre. His brother sometimes had the most ridiculous ideas.
Greg must have found it ridiculous too, because he snorted, "Me? Really Mycroft, I think I'll put that in the top ten most hilarious things you've said to me."
Mycroft took a stilted tone and replied, "It wasn't a joke. Listen. I knew you'd do me good at some way at some time. I saw it in your eyes when I first beheld you ." To Sherlock's surprise, Mycroft's tone and expression softened, "Greg, that's exactly how I feel about you. From the first day you agreed without hesitation to watch over Sherlock for me, I saw it in your eyes. You did me good. Again and again."
From Greg's silence, Sherlock could clearly see that his brother's words had hit home. After a few moments of silence, Greg rolled over onto his back and looked at Mycroft, then raising his hand and placing it on Mycroft's cheek, he said softly, " Sometimes I have the strangest feeling about you... Especially when you're near, like now. It's feel as though I had a string tied here, under my rib, where my heart is. Tightly knotted to you... in a similar fashion. I remember those words perfectly in the movie, and that I had never felt anything like that. Before you."
When Sherlock saw Mycroft grasp Greg's hand on his cheek and kiss its palm, he returned to his steps and gently closed the door to the small salon behind him.
**********
Except when they were children, Sherlock had not often had the opportunity to see Mycroft other than in his stuffy, fancy suits. He also knew that his brother had always been obsessed by his weight and complexed by his physique. Always between two diets and two sports training. Even after all these years, it was still an extremely sensitive subject for Mycroft. Sherlock was therefore extremely surprised to see him like this, sitting on the balcony railing of his room, lighting a cigarette, and wearing nothing but a pair of boxers. He was about to join him, when Greg came up behind Mycroft, bringing what appeared to be two cups of tea.
When Mycroft became aware of Greg's presence, he bent down to grab his nightgown. But as he began to put it on, Greg protested, "Love, you know you don't have to hide from me. You don't have to put it back on."
As Mycroft let his robe slip off, Greg put the cups down and walked over to him, gently touching his face, the gesture obviously familiar from his brother's reaction as he leaned his cheek against it.
Mycroft said in a hesitant voice that Sherlock didn't know he had, "You know I'm still amazed that you enjoy seeing me like this."
Greg shook his head and replied, "You know I'm still amazed that you don't see how stunning you are."
Even though Sherlock was able to read people, it was apparent for anyone that Mycroft was completely taken aback by Greg's words.
Greg sat up, put his arms around Mycroft's waist and kissed his belly.
"I love everything about you, Mycroft, and I would love everything about you even if your waist was a few inches larger."
That was the last thing Sherlock heard as he closed the door.
Walking away, Sherlock mused that he wouldn't soon forget his brother's wondering expression.
**********
Heading to the unfortunately shared bathroom between the two brothers' rooms, Sherlock first heard nothing but laughter as he went in.
"No, Greg! Stop it! You're scratchy! I don't want you to kiss me if it itches like that!" Then Sherlock heard Greg reply in a pouty voice, "Mycroft...".
"No, no, no your itchy skin will not come in contact with my delicate skin!"
Sherlock rolled his eyes at the antics of his brother.
Then he heard Greg cough before he replied, his tone a little hesitant, "So will you shave me?"
Then the two men seemed to have left, and Sherlock couldn't help but be curious and slowly opened the door. He barely had time to turn back as they were already returning. He did not close the door completely, so as not to attract attention.
Of course, he couldn't resist taking a look.
Greg was sitting with a towel over his shoulders, shaving cream on his cheeks and chin. Mycroft had rolled up his sleeves and was holding a straight-razor. He leaned toward Greg and, with a steady look, asked, "Do you trust me?".
Greg replied firmly, looking him straight in the eye, "Intimately." before stretching his chin forward and closing his eyes.
Sherlock, once again bewildered, quietly turned around and went to lie down on his bed. Pondering under John's puzzled gaze.
After a few minutes, John turned to him and asked softly, "Sherlock, what are you thinking about? You haven't said a word since you came back from the bathroom."
Sherlock turned his head to John and said, a sort of wonder in his voice, "I think they really do love each other."
John chuckled softly, "It's taken you this long to see it?"
Sherlock shrugged, sulking.
John smiled fondly and kissed his forehead lightly before snuggling up to him.
He didn't see the slight smile on Sherlock's lips as he realized he had nothing to worry about with his brother's happiness.
**********
"I'm sorry Greg. Of course, I had no malicious intent. I guess I just wanted to make sure that Mycroft was happy. I know it's rather unusual of me, but let's just say that the reappearance of Eurus in our lives has changed some of my perspectives. I uhh... It was something I didn't expect to see. I think I wanted to see it for myself, I'm sorry I was kind of a stalker, I..."
Greg stopped him by placing a hand on his forearm, "It's okay Sherlock, you don't have to explain yourself. I know Mycroft's life, his whole life, I know your lives, I know mate. I know. So I totally understand the need to reassure yourself, but I can promise you one thing, that I will always do everything to make him happy. That will always be my priority. Mycroft is the only family I have, so I will always take care of him."
Sherlock nodded, visibly moved, as a voice echoed behind him, "You see, brother, you have nothing to worry about. My happiness is truly real."
As if to prove that what he had just said was true, Mycroft walked over to Greg and put his arm around his waist before kissing him on the cheek.
"This man, Sherlock, is the person who allowed me to change while remaining myself, he saw the good in me, when even I couldn't see it."
Sherlock replied softly, clearly not at all used to this kind of conversation, especially with his brother, "I... ahem... I'm happy for you brother."
"What?" gasped Mycroft, surprised by his brother's words.
"Mycroft! Don't make me repeat myself, this is already extremely embarrassing!"
Greg shook his head fondly as he chuckled softly, "You're both incorrigible, but we love you like that."
He approached the two brothers, grabbed them by the neck and hugged them for a few seconds, then stepped back, bursting into laughter at their stunned looks.
"Detective Inspector Gregory Lestrade has managed the feat of rendering the two Holmes brothers speechless. I don't regret having witnessed this," said John's voice behind him.
Greg enjoyed his two seconds of personal fame, because he knew that with the two brilliant minds in front of him, it wouldn't be long before one or the other would pay him back.
In the meantime he happily joined his laughter to John's.

Around the World in 80 Days fic! AND my OT3! 😊💕 Thank you, Sam, for the lovely treat!
Aw, glad you liked it! I have to say while there isn't much fic out there overall, I was delighted to see so much Fogg/Passeportout/Fix. I thought possibly fandom might go for some kind of Fogg/Bellamy pair-the-white-guys thing, which don't get me wrong is interesting in a one-off sense, but not compelling as a trope, at least to me.
I would like to see a post-S1 adventure with Fix/Passeportout as a ship where Fogg gets a separate love interest (I'm hoping for that canonically for S2, which has already been announced as happening apparently). The timing doesn't line up in canon but I think with a little funging you could make a magnificent story out of the trio picking up a believed-to-be-dead Sherlock Holmes on their next adventure....

Moriarty’s Secret
Based on this request:  can i request one with Moriarty. she’s the girlfriend that literally no one knows about. he comes back from the “dead” and reveals himself to her. At first she’s mad and pretends she’s moved on but he makes it up to her? thank you and happy new year!
Here you are, lovely! *Familiar Characters are NOT mine!*
Fandom: Sherlock(BBC)
Warnings: Faked death?? FLUFF! A wee bit of angst I suppose
Pairings/Characters: James “Jim” Moriarty x fem!reader(can be read as gender neutral though as I don’t use any gender specific pronouns/descriptions)
Tumblr media
You held back a sigh as you picked up another of James' things. He'd been gone for two years already and your heart still hurt. Still, it was time. His housekeeper had been helping you sort through his belongings, though nothing had been sold or gotten rid of yet. You just couldn't seem to part with any of it.
You were pulled from your thoughts by the sound of helicopter blades outside. This wasn't unusual. James' former friend/body guard Sebastian often came to check on you. You had a feeling James' estate was still paying him even after James' death. The door opened and you didn't bother to turn around as you greeted the bodyguard.
"Hey, Sea Bass. Here to help?" For a moment, there was only silence. Then, a soft chuckle, followed by a few more. You froze in place. There was something familiar about that laugh. "Oh, I bet he hates that nickname." The voice was absolutely unmistakable now. You dropped what you were holding and whirled around, coming to face to face with the boyfriend you thought was long dead.
"J-James?" you asked in disbelief. He gave you a cheeky grin and held open his arms. In an instant, your disbelief turned into anger. You stomped over to him and promptly slapped him. "You selfish bastard! How could you do that to me?! I thought…I thought you were-" you cut yourself off with a shriek before turning on your heel and storming off leaving James to stare after you.
You were furious with him. Absolutely furious. You'd gone along with his schemes in the past, knowing that there was really no way of stopping him. He was who he was and nothing could change that. But you had thought that he at least felt something more for you. You had thought you weren't just another toy or pawn to him.
To his credit, he left you alone for a couple of hours. He knew you needed time to cool off when you were angry. That didn't stop the constant ringing of the doorbell. It started only a few minutes after you'd stormed off, with Sebastian bringing you a bouquet of flowers that you knew James had ordered weeks in advance. He mostly likely knew how angry you were going to be.
Next came the giant teddy bear. Then the chocolates, followed by more and more expensive gifts. By the time supper rolled around, you weren't angry anymore. You were still irritated though. For a man so smart, James should have known better than to try and buy your forgiveness. You searched the estate for him until you came upon him in the parlor.
"Y/N," he greeted as he rose from his seat, "Did you not like that gifts?" You rolled your eyes. "They're lovely. Thank you. But you know better. I am so, so cross with you! I thought I meant more to you than that! I thought you were dead! For two years I mourned you and now, you suddenly come waltzing back in here like nothing happened?!"
"Y/N," he growled lowly, "It's considered rude to shout." You glared at him, trying to put as much icy venom in it as possible. "It's also considered rude to let the people who love you think that you're dead!" You spun on your heel, determined to leave, but his hand shout out and grabbed your arm.
"Let me go, James. I was only here to settle your estate. I'm going home now. I've moved on," you said, congratulating yourself on your voice not cracking through your lie. You felt him step up closer behind you and place his chin on your shoulder. "Oh, kitten," he whispered, his breath hot in your ear, "You could never move on from me. We both know it. I'm the king. Your king" A shiver went down your spine.
You took a step away from him before turning to glare at him. "I don't care. You left, James. You made me think that you were dead. I-I-I…DAMMIT!" You couldn't fight back your tears anymore. You turned away from him again to get away and cry in peace. James slid in front of you and took your hands in his. "Kitten, don't. Don't walk away from me." There was a tone of threat in his voice, but something else as well. Fear. Fear you knew well.
Besides Sebastian, you were the only person who ever stuck by James. Through all his schemes, his time in prison, his trial, everything; you were there for him. And now, here you were, broken hearted and threatening to walk away for good. You sighed and looked down at the ground. Taking a deep breath, you looked back into his eyes.
"Never do this again. I swear if you do, I will walk out that door and never come back. Are we clear?" James' signature smirk appeared on his lips. "Crystal. Now, may I have this dance?" Without waiting for an answer, he queued up a song on his device. He pulled you to him and began dancing around the room with you. You couldn't fight the smile on your face.
"I did miss you, you know. All my plans weren't as much fun without you." You rolled your eyes. "You could just tell me you love me," you said. James chuckles and, instead of replying, dipped you. You giggled at the sudden movement before he swung you back up at planted his lips on yours in the type of rough and possessive kiss you'd come to expect from him over the years. "I love you," he whispered when you parted.
(a/n: I hope you like it!)

Excuse me, please tell me about the Mentally I’ll woman and WOC save the world. Also the extremely long canon compliant Adlock fic. Please and thank you 🖤
YES THANK YOU I AM VERY HAPPY TO TALK ABOUT THESE THINGS
Saving the world:
So, basically, there are creature that warp reality and have a real knack for getting into people's heads. They're trying to find the best simulation to place people in or, "system" for people to perceive, by figuring out how best to subjugate Earth (and other planets, though Earth is the one being focused on because I, the author, live here). This allows for a lot of different genres to show up, as well as the team who decides to take them out and figure out how to escape these "systems" by having to fight their way back to reality needing to...improvise.
SPEAKING OF THIS TEAM there are are 4 women: one of them is...basically me: lover of classical music, discovers she's bi over the course of the show, very severe OCD. Her love of music helps her use sound as a weapon and look at situations more creatively, and dealing with her OCD helps her deal with being in the various "systems" because she already has to fight her brain trying to change her perception of reality on a regular basis. She's more optimistic than I am (to a fault), and very good at pretending to be happy because character flaws and conflict!! Occasionally her OCD holds her back from doing the necessary things to save the world because she gets paralyzed by the need to do things ""Right™"" and she is deathly afraid of her intrusive thoughts being weaponized by the reality warpers, which is a major source of angst. Uses self-destructive coping mechanisms as a way to "hold herself accountable."
The next member of this team is an Asian woman with a degree in literature. Because of this, she has a very good understanding of how stories work, as well as a wide breath of knowledge about different time periods, trivia, and strategies. All of which allows her an advantage in breaking down the illusions of the reality warpers. She deals with severe depression, which affects her perception of reality as well. Sometimes this manifests as anger or impulsive behavior, which can be very helpful as tools for motivation and in providing needed split-second decisions, but sometimes it works to her detriment. Has been friends with the woman with OCD for a very long time, and their friendship is central to their respective recoveries.
NEXT CHARACTER. An aroace Indian woman who practices Hinduism. She works as a stuntwoman/stunt driver for the movie industry and, as such, is excellent at working vehicles and physical combat, which are obviously very helpful in the whole saving-the-world-fighting-your-way-out-of-dangerous-simulations, thing, but she has to figure out the best way to reconcile that with her faith. She tends to assume the worst in people, which makes it hard for her to let herself fully open up or be vulnerable, and has made it harder than she'd like to make friends. This is because of the harsh, toxic culture of the entertainment industry, trying to tell her who she should be and how she should act. As it is...wont to do. She didn't want to be a stereotype or be broken by discrimination, so she decided to isolate and harden herself in response. Her harsh understanding and hardened determination allow her to be immune to most of the reality-warping. But she is fiercely compassionate, which ultimately wins out over everything else.
And the last member of the team: A Latina medical student working on her doctorate. Has a love of science, which helps pinpoint the structure/chemical makeup of the systems the team finds themselves stuck in, as well as how to heal those broken by them. Tends to be a workaholic and majorly struggling with a work-life balance on account of a fear of being seen as unintelligent. Some of her fellow doctoral students really suck. Her perseverance allows her to power through the reality-warping illusions. Takes a much more logical approach to conflict and problems, and is extremely loyal to those she lets into her inner circle, but is unafraid to cut ties with narrow-minded or unprincipled people. She also falls in love with a trans man and they quote anime at each other all the time. It's adorable.
Also, all of them are huge fandom nerds, which gives them all different areas of expertise depending on the genre of the simulation they fall into. There is definitely a Big Conflict™ that takes place at a con while everyone is in cosplay. Ultimately, it's a story of healing from your emotional baggage, the strength one can find in friendships, and leaning how to fall in love again with things you might have lost your passion for. It's a story about the complexity of human relationships and how we perceive reality, and how different life experiences (especially as marginalized people) can shape who you are and how you see the world and interact with others. And despite the author's snarky cynicism in real life, this is a story of hope.
Adlock Fic
Sherlock saves Irene. Sherlock helps Irene get a new identity. They bicker and disagree on how best to do this. It's a defense mechanism because they don't understand emotions and don't want to admit that the other person has given them a desire for vulnerability because they Caught Feelings. There's corruption in MI-6 they have to fight, with the assistance of an MI-6 agent who has know Sherlock for years and grows to become good friends with Irene (whom he finds interesting and entertaining in spite of himself). Plus, there's the added stress of them both pretending to be dead and taking down Moriarty's network after he dies. Eventually this all explodes into a volatile discussion of Feelings™ between our two favorite emotionally repressed disasters, and they begin the closest thing they can to a romantic relationship, with Irene eventually giving birth to Nero Holmes, who they have to protect from enemies they've made with the whole "destroying the MI-6 conspiracy and Moriarty's network" thing. Lots of time devoted to Irene kicking ass (and Sherlock being head-over-heels because of it, although he'd never actually admit that).
