Hey just found your account and on thin ice is just *chefs kiss* but I raise you, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir in 2018 with moulin rouge… but it’s Aziraphale and Crowley.
Keep up the beautiful art! 🖤
oh yes, that program is my Roman Empire..… tessa and scott are big inspirations for how i like to imagine aziraphale and crowley as a pair of ice dancers. the hypothetical part 2 of on thin ice is all about them skating together. :D
i haven’t drawn a lot of it but here is at least one sketch i’ve scribbled up so far

Tumblr media
Skating icon Tessa Virtue lives in Toronto with her fiancé Toronto Maple Leafs star Morgan Rielly and she says they have a lot of fun exploring the city's booming food scene for their date nights.
Virtue spoke to Narcity following a special ceremony during which she was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame with her former skating partner over of 20 years, Scott Moir.
During the call, the Olympic athlete also talked about one of her favourite aspects of living in Toronto.
"I think the fun thing about living in a place like Toronto is that it's a real melting pot of different cultures and cuisine and it's just neat to kind of try new things," she said.
"I'm not a cook so it's nice to be downtown in the mix and exploring the restaurants."
As for where the couple likes to go, Virtue shared their four go-to restaurants in the city.

Today got me in my Virtue Moir feels real bad. Like, just so grateful 🥲 How lucky were we? As a sports fandom, we were the luckiest. Tessa and Scott got to win everything there is to win. Did everything there was to do. Like when I say legends, I mean LEGENDS! And we got to witness it all. I will never forget the euphoric feeling when they won the gold in 2018. The pink champagne I popped open at 3 in the morning. The absolute joy that lasted for months. Truly, the best there ever was 🙏🏻

I think jikook is so perplexing because are they friends? Lovers? A gender bent version of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir? Will I eventually learn that Jimin is actually dating a Toronto Maple Leafs player?
Anon, would you believe me when I tell you that the first people I ever shipped irl and not fiction were Tessa and Scott? How could I forget???
I think I ended up watching randomly the Winter Olympics and I saw their number, that now famous free program on El Tango de Roxanne. I was mesmerized. You have to understand, I'm not really into that. I can appreciate and understand that ice skating is beautiful, but this just caught by surprise. There was a vibe, something there. I was sure they were a thing. How could they not? But they weren't? I was caught up in it for only two weeks so I watched interviews, documentary, even the segment at Ellen when she actually asked them if they're a couple. I was still intrigued and fascinated by all that, especially since both of them had had other partners before, after.
It goes to show we don't know anything and insane chemistry might be just that, without leading to something more. Which is a total possibility with Jimin and Jungkook as well and I'd lean towards that option if I am to choose a non-shipping perspective. Which is still cool cause I like seeing them together and whatever it is they have got going on. I'm cool with it.

thank you for everything you do !
A Practical Guide to Winning the Olympics (Do's and Don'ts) by Anna (pineconepickers) [E, 106K]
When pair skater Yuuri Katsuki’s career comes to a scandalous end, he does not expect the retired pair skating legend Viktor Nikiforov to suggest that they compete together. But taking on a new skating partner is full of trial and error, and the skating world doesn’t know how to react when the Katsuki-Nikiforov duo, against all odds, starts doing well. The last thing either of them should do, as they strive for their last chance at greatness, is to fall in love. Yuuri knows he is damaged goods, and Viktor knows his body is starting to fail him. They have competitions to survive and medals to win. No, falling in love is out of the question; they’re just very good friends. And even if Viktor felt something, he’d never act on it, and even if Yuuri happened to be hopelessly in love, he’d be mortified if Viktor ever found out.
“Well,” Viktor said, “let’s summarise: I’m pushing thirty, have a bad ankle, and haven’t skated competitively in three years. You’re barely out of a doping scandal, coachless, and on the JSF’s blacklist. Hell, Yuuri – we might as well go for it, then. What on earth do we have to lose?”
When Viktor put it like that, it seemed to make an awful lot of sense.

✨I never had a dream come true/ Till the day that I found you✨
A promise is a promise—gay ice skaters are here! I’m quite proud of how this came out, though I know I can do better. (To be fair, I’ve only had access to colored pencils and not my art tablet for a year now, but whatever.) Once I’m able to I’m gonna do a digital version of this!
Their appearances are also not 100% set in stone; I like how Randall came out (on the left), but Leonardo doesn’t match the Leo in my head, so don’t be surprised if he they change in future drawings (yes, there will be more!)
And here’s a bonus unfiltered photo, though the filters only make it look more like it does IRL:

And the reference is from Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir’s Moulin Rouge Performance, which I CANNOT recommend enough:

Until recently the only DW programs I’d ever watched was their Olympic performances, as well as 08 and 09 worlds. Then I found a full(ish) replay on YT of 2012 worlds FD- VM won obviously with Funny Face which was phenomenal, but even they said maybe wasn’t their very best. I had known VM won both the short and FD, and I knew they won by a fairly big margin. I figured DW must’ve had a fall or missed an element entirely for there to be like a.. I think 4 or 5 point gap.
Then I watched their FD..
O M F G. I had never appreciated what you and others say about their shit skating skills till this point (I’m a dancer so my ice dance judgement comes from the waist up and performance quality- skating skills I can’t quite pick apart as thoroughly).
It was sooo fucking frantic. They did not stop for one second. THE RUNNING TO GAIN SPEEED 😵‍💫. Her arms swinging all over the place. It is genuinely a miracle they didn’t trip over. Her leg lines were god awful! Constantly bent and toes not pointed. He skates like he just snorted 5 rails before getting on the ice. I was actually dumbfounded.
On what fucking level could they have been considered in the same realm as vm (fairly)???? I for one adore Funny Face and think they performed it to near perfection. Not my fave free dance but even if you knew nothing about ice dance and watched the two teams you’d see VM’s ease in holds, calmness, control over their edges, their rock solid lifts. Tessa’s ballerina arms. They perform to the back row of the arena, they are believable and genuine. It’s LIGHT YEARS difference. I really was left quite speechless.
Then hilariously, in the kc DW score was like 4 points below their SB, with no obvious mistakes, and meryl says ‘that’s abit low’.. I’m thinking omg babe how much more could you possibly want for that burning trash heap of a skate??? (The cynic in me says that was the moment Marina set out burning VM’s career to the ground for her future daughter in law 🫠)
So ok that was an easy win for vm. But then how could there have been such a shift the other way in less than a season?? Like actual legitimate shift in skill in talent?? (there wasn’t, and the impending shit show through to 2014 (and beyond) on the judging side was proof of that) DW’s heads (and scores) were clearly being inflated through their asses enough by marina for them to start so easily winning without actually improving.
If vm make big mistakes that cost points fine. But they were rock fucking solid performing the most difficult programs ever attempted in the sport, only minor booboos (4CC excluded). Ok seasons was not the most stand out program but the performers and dancers and skaters they are could make even the most mundane Bock program an Oscar worthy performance. Charlie’s flailing fruit bat/butterfly at the end of sherizarde (I know what it is I just cbf spelling it right) is burned in my fucking brain and yeah ok Scott’s heavy breathing at the end of seasons wasn’t great and idk where I’m going with this at this point but even looking 12 years back this sport manages to shit me off.
Sincerely.. the gal who made the ‘Madi’s bad skating skills’ meme yesterday
Your lips to god's ears! You spoke no word of a lie and I clapped half way through. I could not agree with you more. D/W being V/M rivals would be laughable if it wasn't so rage inducing. Personally, I wish it had been a Virtue/Moir and Pechelat/Bourzat rivalry, that would have been far more interesting, not to mention, made infinitely more sense. Le sigh.

Tessa Virtue Was 'Humbled' To Receive A Top Canadian Award & Got Nostalgic About Scott Moir
"Jumping back into that world with Scott was just extraordinary."
October 20, 2023
Tumblr media
Olympic skater Tessa Virtue is getting sentimental about her former partnership and career with Scott Moir.
The athletic duo started skating together when they were just kids and went on to win five Olympic medals together. Now they're being recognized with an incredible Canadian honour.
Virtue and Moir were inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Gatineau, Quebec on Thursday and it's caused Virtue to take a step back and reflect.
In an interview on Friday from the airport, Virtue expressed how grateful she was for the recognition.
"It's an incredible honour to be recognized by your peers in such a meaningful and significant way is so humbling and rewarding," she told Narcity.
"It's interesting Scott and I were reflecting in that it's not one of those goals you ever set. We wanted to win and we wanted to try new programs and experiment and you know, kind of make our mark on the international scene and yet we never thought about awards and accolades like Canada's Sports Hall of Fame."
Leading up to the ceremony, Virtue shared photos and videos on her Instagram of her and Moir and their different "eras" during their 20+ year-long partnership.
"It's been such a fun-filled week of reflection and kind of taking a walk down memory lane," she said.
"Jumping back into that world with Scott was just extraordinary."
When we asked her to choose her favourite era, Virtue said two really stuck out to her.
"When I look at the two of us at seven and nine, starting out with such innocence and naivety and this purity of our approach to sport there's just something so beautiful about seeing that," she explained.
"I have a really soft spot in my heart for those young kids who had no idea what was ahead of them."
However, she said their time at the PyeongChang Olympics in 2018, during which the skaters became the most decorated figure skates in Olympic history, is a career highlight.
"The PyeongChang portion of our career, it's hard to compete with that," she told Narcity.
"Not only because of how things transpired, but I think more importantly, just the autonomy we had. The team we had surrounding us it really felt like we finally found our rhythm of optimizing performance and tapping into that potential."
Since then, many Canadians (myself included) were sad to hear they were retiring in 2019.
However, Virtue says she hasn't hung up her skates and she is still involved in some capacity in the sport she's always loved.
The skating icon mentors a team that recently competed at the Olympics and meets with them weekly in Montreal.
"It's more strategy-based, mental performance, structuring their team focusing on energy management, so it's maybe in a different capacity, but I love staying involved that way."
The Canadian ice skater currently works for Deloitte and says she recently even got to incorporate her love of sports when she worked on a project that created "safe sports principles across Canada."
"I was sort of chuckling because I thought, well, what a unique way of coming at these issues from a very corporate standpoint," she told Narcity.
"I'm definitely still involved in sport, it might not look as maybe the trajectory people might have guessed, but I'm certainly still involved."
This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.
