i honestly think that when it comes to joongdok it would be much easier if i answered with the tropes i WOULDNT put them in 😭😭

oh boy here i go! let's start with two of the most obvious first:

1. matching outfits with opposite color schemes, and 2. opposites (leo & aquarius) attract (<- attract as in lowkey bordering in codependency)

yin & yang - not only are joongdok aesthetically yin&yang but narratively too (i mentioned in a previous ask that they're sky & earth too)

star-crossed - (if you believe in orv's sad ending)

life (and death) companions - is probably a trope on its own considering the meaning of the title. not only does it mean (i ran the term through a thesaurus so yall don't have to 👍🏻👍🏻) "a romantic partner with whom one is exceptionally or uniquely compatible or has a special connection" but the synonyms are also of the romantic variety ranging from (but not limited to) life partner, best friend, soulmate, spouse, true love, one's promised, significant other, love of one's life, beloved, heart's desire etc (long story short, pretty sick tbh. no wonder kr dudebros threw a fit in singshong's comment section over it. i get it) and what makes it infinitely funnier is that it started as crack being treated seriously 😭😭😭😭

anyway, continuing where i left off, Soulmates - kdj is the reason yjh exists. yjh is the reason kdj lives. (hsy wrote both of them in a way that they became each other's salvation hence their position of reader-protagonist gets switched in the epilogue and both of them have admitted that reading about the other's story has saved their lives)

everyone ships them/everyone can see it - uriel, gabriel, ljh, hsy, jhw, lsh, anna croft, persephone/hades (the third eligible candidate to marry kdj was yjh and you will never be able to convince me otherwise. also if you have an answer other than yjh ur wrong), yma (if webtoon dares not to draw the "oppa looks happy when thinking about that ahjussi" you'll see me on the news) the wenny king. heck even gong pildu, upon some consideration and by method of elimination, deduced that theres no way kdj has enough rizz to pull neither ysa nor hsy therefore who was left to be the one who helped kdj birth his "child" (kidified sp) ??? yjh obv 😭😭 and why would he question the possibilities of mpreg when hmo is right there anyway. heck hmo even told kdj that he should try it.

Personalities -

Donnie - He's very quiet (selectively mute). He only speaks when he really wants to. It's even rarer for him to do so w/ strangers. Probably speaks the most w/ April?

He cares about his family a lot, emotions are just ,, hard. And showing them is harder. He actually doesn't really mind physical touch? It's just. normal. to him. even though often times hes not the one who initiates it. He tends to just stand by and listen to what others want him to do. He protects, and he listens. Thats what he does best (which has led to a lot of self-dehumanization !)

Leo - She always appears calm and put together, but shes always up to do something fun. In general, shes very charismatic. People love her charm. She bounces around a lot; shes not often in one place.

She loves dressing up (something she shares w/ Mikey)! She also loves ballet and gymnastics. Wanna blow something up? Shes up for it. Wanna go watch someone do something stupid? Always. Shes the "face" of the group, one of the most social, and the most charming. She uses it to her advantage . obvs :)

Mikey - Everyone loves Mikey. Hes the favorite. The sweetest, the kindest, the most loving. Hes actually a menace, but. yknow. its easy to not realize that when he looks how he does.

hes so sweet !! (he pushed someone into a ditch) So kind !! (he is pointing his middle fingers at u behind your back). He gets away w/ EVERYTHIIING. splinter insists hes not the favorite but that is a LIE. he does actually care abt his family (and his friends) ! and he is actually genuinely kind at times ! but. he is a troublemaker at heart (he gives raph heart attacks every other day).

Raph - he is a very tired teenage mom. very tired. he gets fed up quickly, and he has a habit of jumping to conclusions.

Hes impatient, grumbly, and snappy, but he gets very anxious very quickly (w/ mikey it is 10x worse). he tends to catastrophize, and he is Very protective and overbearing at times. he doesnt even realize hes doing it sometimes. Hes trying his best to be there and keep them safe, but his best isnt enough even if he wants it to be.

April - Shes fun and energetic !! she loves to join in on Adventures and bring trouble where she goes <3 she cares so. SO. much abt the turtles. theyre everything to her (lowkey she cares abt them more than her own family).

she can be a voice of reason, but most of the time she is Not. shes carefree and she loves to do anything and everything!! ... around the turtles, that is. Around her family, shes quiet. withdrawn. she has a very complicated relationship w/ her family, and thats caused many many issues w/herself. She sees the turtles as a chance to be free, but even then she uses a facade. Girlie is going through things.

Vibes -

Donnie - Chillest guy ever. can be intimidating due to,, lack of emotion and How Fucking Tall he is, but hes quiet and like. never aggressive. just a guy u can depend on tbh.

Leo - Shes like. So cool. Calm, charismatic, charming,, she attracts people like flies. shes got v good vibes :] coolest older sister ever.

Mikey - BABY. BABY BOY. he could not do anything wrong ever (ignore everything wrong hes done ever. heehee hoohoo). little sibling vibes to the max LITTLEST GUY...

Raph - have i mentioned Teenage Mom. hes so tired man. mikey keeps pulling on his leash :( (he had to put a harness on him).

April - the gifted child syndrome and the eldest sibling syndrome are strong in this one. oh ! but dont worry, shes very good at repressing it. yknow, for other peoples sake :)

Relationships -

Donnie - Close w/ Leo, eldest siblings (though leo is v close in age w/ raph). He lets mikey come into his room and do whatever as long as he doesnt touch anything super dangerous. He respects raph a lot for everything he does. Besties w/ April :) he loves her a lot. shes family

Leo - She admires Donnie a lot just for,,, who he is. hes dependable and she appreciates it. Mikey is her little brother !! she loves him!! she loves doing things w/ him - like clothes shopping. theyre v close! She makes fun of raph but she doesnt rlly mean it, she just thinks hes fun to annoy LOL. April is also her bestie!! she always loves being w/ april and she talks abt her (april) all the time (and later they become gfs)

Mikey - He rlly loves watching donnie work. its fascinating to him. Watches Donnie a Lot and admires him. he loves leo so much!! shes his big sister! she gave him her bow and goes shopping w/ him, and she taught him how to make bracelets :) thinks shes literally the best. so sweet w/ her. Hes the closest w/ raph, though. theyre almost always w/ each other. hes usually dragging raph to places (by force, typically). he is a menace when around raph bc 1. he knows raph hates it 2. he knows no one will believe raph >:)

Raph - Mutually respects Donnie. they understand each other. leo he bickers w/ a lot, since they have such different mindsets. he finds her annoying, but shes still someone he can trust when it really comes down to it. mikey is A MENACE and he HATES HIM. (its a lie. he loves mikey very much. and he cares for mikey so so much). mikey always gives him trouble everyday. no one else seems to understand how much trouble mikey causes, to his disdain. hes always w/ mikey because hes paranoid and afraid of letting smth happen to mikey. April is someone he tends to talk to a lot, and they exchange information a lot abt their siblings. They understand what its like to have younger siblings and have to worry about them.

April - Donnie is HER BESTIEEE. she tells him everything !! she trusts him more than anyone (a title shared w/ Leo). shes almost always hanging around him if not w/ leo, and shes learned a lot abt donnies expressions and his characteristics. she knows a lot abt him. Leo !! leo is the best! theyre just girls who love each other a lot,,, platonically, of course, hahahaha. unless ... ? :) She tends to be similar to how Leo acts around mikey-- hes literally perfect 2 her. shes most calm w/ raph, and she knows he appreciates it. they sip tea together and talk abt everyday things

also im pretty sure i was standing right next to one of the ensemble members (alex puette, tall guy standing behind orpheus in the picture) on the subway earlier that day

ok what is there to say about patrick page that hasnt already been said. i love it when he enters with ‘i missed ya’ and the people in the audience who aren’t familiar with the show are like wtf [nervous laughter]. the role was literally written for him so it’s no surprise that he just owns it but after seeing him my memory was wiped of the hades i saw on tour i genuinely cannot remember the other guy because patrick page is Thee Guy

eva noblezada STOLE. THE MF. SHOW. seeing her perform live changed me and changed fundamentally how i see the show. when i saw the tour in los angeles it felt like orpheus was the main character. but with eva’s eurydice it’s her world and we are just living in it. her eurydice wants so badly and it comes through brutally despite her insistence that she doesnt need anyone or anything and her fear to have anything lest it slip away. every note was exactly where it needed to be, the quality of her voice and technique is stupendous, even when she’s sobbing on her hands and knees her voice is clarion and pitch perfect. i saw her at the stage door after and SHE said thank you to US and i was like no no no no thank YOU.

jewelle blackman as persephone slayyyyed she’s kinda crazy and i love that for her, though i wish some of the vocals could have been altered to let her go into her super low range like she did when she played one of the fates

sayo oni was orpheus and i loved himmm. famously i am not a fan of reeve carney’s orpheus (sorry) so me n emma were elated to have a fresh voice in the mix. his voice was clear and sure and gorgeous and i had been kind of afraid that even if orpheus was really good he would b overshadowed by eva because she’s such a powerhouse, but they matched & blended well in skill and vocals and i had nothing to worry about. orpheus 2 me only works as a character if he’s naive and childlike and ya boy pulled it off so well.

malcolm armwood was a fantastic understudy hermes (pictured below at the stagedoor with his BEAUTIFUL family and/or friends), although i really REALLY wanted to see lillias white in the role just to see what flavors she would inject to hermes as a woman, mainly in her relationships w persephone and orpheus. but it was fun to have a young hermes bc most of the hermes that i’ve seen/heard have been like 40+ but armwood brought a youthful buoyancy to the role that contrasted with the aged hades+persephone but still seemed older and wiser and ageless next to sayo oni’s childlike orpheus

the fates were much more vindictive and close to villainous in this version. on tour they were a more neutral force

the tour didnt have the elevator in the middle of the turntable, instead there was a door that opened up to the back of the set with red lights that looked like the front of a train. (this was very cool and in some ways i liked it better bc the bway version just had the drum kit there instead). obv the elevator as the route to hell is unmatched when orpheus turns around at the end but my ideal production has both the train lights door AND the elevator for maximum effect so hades et al can exit/enter via the train or the immediate descent underground as the situation requires

I've been loving nightbringer so much so far-- I think it's the first time in obey me history I've caught up to the last lesson that's out (which will probably change w due time, I'm terrible at keeping my cards lvled up) and the story has been fun for me so far. I havent played obey me since like early 2022-- so this is quite nostalgic yet fresh for me.

but anyways, the music battles r fine, controls weirded me out at first but I can manage. it was more jarring how the songs used were remixed and nightcored ver. of obey me songs. rlly putting the night in nightbringer I see.

however, speaking on the plot, I find that it had some missed potential? like no one else would care tbh and I can understand why but. THE DOMESTICALITY?? THE BROTHERS SETTLING INTO HOL??? missed opportunity may I say I'd EAT THAT UP!! 

like screw (affectionately, I dont hate this game) the "oh we had it modified to suit our tastes" and now everyone's room looks exactly like how they do in present time. I do understand why they do, and this isnt a case of me being like "grrr they are using the same assets!! they're so lazy boo blah blah blah" as for how rarely weve seen their room in the main story it doesnt matter. its just been a few messily scenes.

but NO. show me asmo fretting over how his room isnt pretty enough. how he needs flowers decorating his room, or vines, or gahh-- anything with some life and freshness and beauty in here because his pink bedsheets are NOT enough.

give lucifer considering his room fine and then instantly stumbling across a cursed item shop, buying some if not most of the stock and then spending a solid hour or two muttering to himself about how this should go here, or how disappointing it is that an item's too big for the spot he pictured it.

the twins... well I think they have the most believable room of the boys. they're twins, they want to share a room, they have it modified to look both red and purple, compared to whatever colors it was before. overall, they dont do much in that room, beel works out and sleeps there(obv) and bel also just sleeps and naps in there. they dont have it cluttered or stuff. however, I've always wondered what the area above the beds is. a way to the balcony? a balcony in general? or just a small lounge area? I like to imagine it's a small lounge area w a window for bel to look out of, but hey. their room is fine otherwise, unless i missed something.

and leviathan... ah... levi... first of all. NO WAY HE HAD THAT MANY FIGURES. even if he bought them in the castle he did NOT have that many. the collection in present time is after YEARS UPON YEARS of collecting. I feel like they missed Levi's mark the biggest out of the game. I'm rusty, so bear with me, but I'm positive that celestial realm isnt big on technology, hence simeons utter lack of any. Luke's easy to teach as hes young and it sticks, but not simeon. that and, lucifer is the reason he got into it(according to barbatos on the homescreen in OG!bey me!). plus in the angel event or whatever, they went vagely back to how they were as Angel's, or at the very least how they should of been like as Angel's, that parts in the air as I disliked the event and it was how long ago? so all signs point to him not being a shut in until post fall. but otherwise, I firmly belive that levi woudlnt of found anime until they were in devildom, of which lucifer is tired of seeing him mope about and introduces him to something light hearted and childish (only for him to later slightly regret that decision). I wouldve adored that sweet moment between the two, but alas I'll settle for what I got.

however, I'd live for the game to show me HOW and WHY he sleeps in the tub, ik its cause hes comfy but until I find out why he doesnt have a bed I'm going to firmly belive that HoL only had 5 bedrooms plus the guest one downstairs, and that levi was content taking over the "smaller" of the two washrooms, because he didnt want to be close to the kitchen or downstairs, plus fishtank. like that washroom in that romeo and juliet movie. fishtank washroom. if you know what I mean.

top 3 f1 drivers <3 (and why if there’s a reason x)

ooooh i am relatively new to f1 so a lot of this is based off drive to survive and other cute videos/vibes but let's GO

number one spot has to go to lewisssss. for one he is the only driver of the current ones that i knew before i started getting familiar with f1 lol. also he is just such a force of good, a fashion icon, seems like an absolute sweetheart, patience of a fucking saint, love when he's a petty king, obviously an extremely talented driver, cool, sexy, amazing dog dad, corny dog instagram man, socially conscious, most pretty man ever, i love his hand tattoos, and his little motivational posts on instagram genuinely make me sooo happy. whenever i see him it gives my heart a lil squeeze. i just think he is amazing and has such a beautiful energy and quite honestly that sport does not deserve him especially with how he's treated by so many within it. still, i'm glad he's there ❤️

second place goes to danny ric it HAS to by god that is my goofy babygirl. literally just a man who makes me smile ear to ear and isn't afraid to be SILLY which is so rare these days. he also seems like a very generous and selfless person and although i obv don't know him irl, he seems to have a good heart and good intentions in everything he does, he is so good-natured even when he doesnt need to be, or even shouldnt be, and he seems to also be very caring towards others!! he is so universally loved and respected by the other drivers and i think that says a lot. also i love his big smile his big nose his long ass neck his curls.. he is so handsome and hot its true. and he deserves better and i hope everything works out well for him ❤️

third place goes to the lovely esteban ocon!!! that is just my GUY. i was quite immediately fond of este from the first dts that was centered on him lol, without sounding corny i relate to him and the circumstances of his childhood and that is honestly one of the reasons he has a lil place in my heart. he is also another person who just has such an infectious attitude, he has such a warmth to him and i just love how he's always just like. smiling through it all can't believe this my life. he also comes across very thoughtful to me and by that i mean he has interesting thoughts on things, like he is very nice to listen to. and i LOVE HIS TEETH and also YES i ALSO think he's really hot gkfjg listen i am only human. that vanity fair shoot whew my god
