Mystery of Lilia's ring
Lilia x Reader
Warnings: angst/fluff, fem reader, general lilia, book 7 spoiler
Pt. I Pt. II
Lilia wears a wedding ring under his gloves. However when asked he doges the question or makes up some silly excuse
Malleus is aware that he had wife. Lilia confirmed it a while ago but did not elborate further
It was only during the Malleus overblot incident that Diasnomia family found out about her and who she was
Tumblr media
(it takes place after Malleus have put everyone to sleep Silver/Sebek/Yuu watch Lilia dream play in front of them like movie)
Lilia woke up in unknown place. His whole body was burning with pain, he barely had the strenght to open his eyes
Everything was blurry but he could make out soothing humming and chopping of knife against a wooden board. It made him relax his muscles a little before the noise stopped. At the same time he realized
'Wait...it sounds like.. a human language?!'
He shot up sitting up on the bed before tumbling back down from the anguish
"My,my don't strain yourself like that, dear"
His eyes widden in horror when he felt hot breath right next to his ear along with voice that he heard ealier. He quickly reached to his waist trying to grab his weapon. But it wasn't there
"Sorry, love I had a feeling you might try that so i had to take your toy away so my head will stay on my shoulders"
He whipped his head around and saw a human woman. Now standing good few feet away from him. She was wearing a dark cloak and a long dress. Both looked pretty torn down and dirty
"What do you want, human? Even without my weapon i can take you down easily"
His eyes started intensly at her. A sight simillar to a wounded animal
"Haha, you would be right if you weren't in a state you're currently in. I barely saved that leg of yours. I'm medic that specilizes in humans, you see~"
She took few steps closer to him. Smile never leaving her face
"I'm (y/n)(y/l), i'm a traveling medic. I manged to save you from that abush that you got yourself into earlier"
Lilia squinted his eyes, trying to recall what happend. He remembers how fast his heart was beating, the metal that tore through his flesh...
Green fire, and a figure with what looked like horns
"Meleanor?! What the hell was she doing there?! Speak human!"
"Oh, i'm sure she's safe and sound in her castle"
"What?! Don't try to make fool out of me. I know what i saw. This green fire and the horns must have belonged to her"
"Oh no it was just me"
She deadpaned looking blankly at him. They stared at each other in awkward. Lilia pinched the bridge of his nose
"Care to explain yourself?"
(y/n) giggled and puffed her chest proudly
"It looks like two twigs on my head and some plant colored fire was enough to send the fools running. I honestly suprised you fell for it too"
She tilted her head to the side, looking smugly at him. Lilia felt his cheeks warm up. How could he had fallen for such simple trick?
"Hmph!"
He quickly turned around on the bed facing the wall and hiding his red face
Meanwhile Sebek, Silver and Yuu watched as the dream played in front of them
"Who is this woman?! How dare she mock Master Lilia!"
"Shh, Sebek that might be her. Father's wife..."
"Nonsense! He never even mentioned having a wife. Let alone a human"
"Never directly. But i once overheard Lord Malleus try to speak about her with him. After confirmation Father quickly changed the subject"
Silver scratched his chin, deep in thought
"as much i feel like inviding Father's privacy, this might be our only chance to really get to know her"
Back to the dream
"Awww, come on General! You gotta i eat! I didnt work so hard to save you just for you to die out of starvation"
Lilia scrunched up his face, turning away from the spoon being held to him. He spent about 4 days in the human's cottage refusing to eat, still not being able to stand up from the bed.
He didnt trust her one bit. She has no reason to do it so. What kind of motive drives her? Trying to gain his trust to poison him? Is she secretly a twisted woman trying to make him in some sort of fae pet for her amusement?
He has to get out as soon as possible
"I have no intention of taking anything from you, woman"
His tone harsh as it always been, red eyes glaring at her
She sighed, pulled out a chair and slumped down on it, setting the bowl of soup on the table. (eye color) eyes looked up blankly at the ceiling
It was her first time taking in a fae patient. She did as much reaserch as she could on them during such short amout of time. She knew that they could survive longer without food than humans. They also recovered faster
But his state was quite serious. Regular man would have probably passed by now. Used to enduring injuries in battle he's probably not even aware of it.
She Has to make him trust her. Just enough for him to her treat him
"You never told me your name. I just know you by 'general' "
She finally broke the tense silence, turning her head in his direction. He still refused to meet her eyes
"There is no need for you know it"
"Huhhh, no fair, i already told you mine"
Her attempt at teasing him got ignored making the room go quiet once again
"I never wanted this war. And i know you didnt either"
She dropped the teasing letting her tone get more grim
"Tch, don't act like you know me or what i want"
It was clear from his body language that this conversation was getting on his nerves, yet she continued to press further. It was now or never
"I know that my people caused you unimaginable pain. No matter what either side has to gain from its not worth all the suffering.
Fae, human, merfolk, beastman...i was taught to treasure all lives. I swore that i will save as many as i can as a medic. Just like you swore to protect your people as a general"
Lilia despite still being sceptical for first time seemed to not ignore her
"My parents were medic as well. They made me what i am today, taught me how to treat people. My whole village fell victim to this conflict"
Her voice shaked, eyes starting to get watery. She took a deep breath to remain composed before speaking futher
"I will not ask for your pity or gratitude towards me. Just please let me treat you. We already lost enough"
She bowed her head to him, her voice pleading almost like she was begging for her own life. Lilia let out a heavy sigh
"Rise your head, human. I do not want to be subjected to such a pitful sight any longer"
Few stray tears streaming down her cheek, her eyes looked up him hopefully
"I will eat your soup so cease your whining"
A bright smile adorned her features. She clasped her hands together letting out a joyful laugh
"Thank you sooo much! Don't be afraid to say if you don't like it i will adjust it to your taste next time! Please enjoy it!"
She handed him a bowl and a spoon
"I will be in the kitchen mixing up some healing herbs for you!"
"Sevens, quit talking my ear off! J-just go do what you're supposed to do"
"Right! Please call me if you need anything"
She skipped towards the door and just about when she was about to leave the room she heard her patient speak up
"Hey..."
"Hmmm?~"
She turned around, tilting her head curiosly
"Its Lilia Vanrouge. My name"
Suprise washed over her features for a moment before her lips spread into a thoothy grin
"Nice to meet you, Lilia"

Civil Arrangements
Tumblr media
Summary: You've been married off to the Getou Clans heir. Life as the lady of the house is relaxing enough, your husband was kind to you, however you can't help but feel lonely as he keeps his distance most of the time, doing his duties with a kind smile but nothing more.
Warnings: Mild language, mentions of injury and blood. Some allusions to steamy stuff lol. Arranged Marriage.
****************************************
"My lady please be careful!!" Your maid frantically called from her spot beside the river.
"I'll be fine, don't worry Yuri!" You assure the frantic maid who watched in distress as you swam towards where a little kitten was struggling on a lone branch in the chilling waters.
You were on a walk around the property like you usually do when a distressed meow caught your attention.
Before your maid could even suggest to call for a guard to help you were already diving into the cold river to save the poor shivering creature, claiming that there was no time to call for help as the poor dear might freeze or drown before anything could be done.
Despite it being almost winter, you didn't hesitate, act first think later has always been your philosophy.
Finally you reached the branch and with some effort managed to tuck the kitty into your kimono, making sure its head stayed above the water line.
Your maid urged you to hurry, at least 30 years being taken off her life in worry since shed met you.
She missed the way you winced about halfway back.
"My lady are you alright?! Please don't do anything so dangerous again!!" She cried as you finally made it back onto land.
"Yuri would you relax, I'm alright, besides this little one would've drowned if I didnt help" you peeked at the tiny ball of furr tucked beside your chest.
"But my lady you're shivering!" She fussed.
"Its alright, I'll go warm this one up then take a nice warm ba-" you flinched as a sharp pain emitted up your ankle.
"!! My lady you're bleeding!"
"Huh? Oh your right, must've cut it on a rock" you said almost casually meanwhile Yuri looked like she was ready to faint.
"Don't move my lady, I'll go call for help-"
"You will do no such thing, really it looks worse than it is, ill be fine, see look" you stood up and took a few steps to convince her. Although you had to admit, it was quite painful.
Finally you managed to convince Yuri, and she helped you back to the main estate area where you and your husbands chambers were. Luckily he had some business to attend to in town so he wouldn't even know about your little rescue attempt.
While your husband was kind and civil he was strict and took his roles and duties seriously. You doubted he would take you risking your safety and getting hurt in stride. It was a husbands duty to take care of his wife after all. Traditions and all that...
So far you had managed to sneak around all the other servants and slid into your chambers undetected.
You ordered Yuri to warm some blankets and grab some medical supplies. She tried to protest, saying you needed a doctor but you refused and she had no choice but to give in.
Once she left, you shed the outer later of your soaked kimono and gently moved the kitten onto a soft cushion. You had some cloth and dried the little thing off.
She seemed to like it and soon was fast asleep. Smiling you decided it was now time to help yourself.
Yuri sooned returned and you decided to bathe since you were basically frozen, trying to ignore it till now in order to focus on the kitten.
She ran you a bath in the room and then you dismissed her not being able to handle her anxiety much longer. Although you couldn't blame her, you were always finding trouble.
You wrapped some bandage quickly, decided to warm up first then actually treat the wound, but also not wanting the blood to taint the clean water.
You sighed as you sank into the steaming water. The soothing scent of jasmine clouding your senses. You were downplaying your state to Yuri, but in actuality you felt quite horrible. Your muscles were fatigued and you still felt quite cold.
You dipped your head under the water a couple times before leaning over the edge slightly to eye the cat through the divider. You relaxed seeing her fast asleep still.
You rested your head on the edge of the tub feeling a sudden heaviness take over.
You couldn't help it when your eyelids also begin to droop. Not quite closed but for some reason you were not able lift them open more. Maybe you shouldn't have sent Yuri away....
Luckily not long after you heard the door slide open. Yuri likely worried came to check on you despite your orders.
You tried to say something but only a whisper came out. What you didn't expect was to hear the deep masculine voice of your husband and not the sweet mousey tone of your maid.
"Y/n?" He inquired stepping into the room and eyeing the silhouette behind the divider.
When you didn't answer he frowned and stepped closer. "Y/n are you alright?"
No answer. Fearing something had happened he walked closer and stepped around the divider.
His eyes widened as he met your slumped over form.
"Y/n?!" He knelt down, lifting your head up gently. Your eyes were lidded like you were in a daze.
Quickly he reached to lift you up and wrapped you in a large towel cloth.
Your head lolling a bit in his arms. He walked over to the bed and carefully set you down before opening the window slightly to let in fresh cool air.
It only took a few minutes before you felt your head begin to clear up again.
"Y/n?" He tried again.
"I'm alright..." you managed to get out.
"Are you sure? Perhaps I should call a doctor..." he debated with concern.
"N-no that's not necessary..." he didn't seem convinced but at least you seemed to be a little better now.
"Here drink this" he supported your body and lifted the cup to your lips. The crisp cool water helping to remove the remaining fuzzies of your mind.
You were able to sit properly now. And in turn realized you were only in a towel and felt yourself heat up again.
You were husband and wife, however certain expected ahem activites had not been....activitied since your wedding night(Clan customs required it so, with a witness outside the door and whatnot...Suguru had been perfectly gentle and assured you he would stop if you wanted him too, but you didn't want to cause issues with the clan, especially so soon so you assured him it was alright. You didn't exactly have a bad time...but since then he had yet to touch you. Perhaps he was respecting your space and letting your adjust...or perhaps he just wasn't interested. You told yourself it wasn't the latter...
So you can understand why suddenly being exposed like this after a long time was a bit unnerving.
"Are you certain you don't need a doctor?" He pressed.
You nodded, "No, I'm really alright, the heat just got to me I suppose, thank you by the way" you felt heat rise again.
"Theres no need to thank me, as long as your alright that's all-is that a cat...?"
Oh how could you forget!
"Oh y-yes! I found the poor little thing out in the cold and brought her here to warm her up, I hope you don't mind...". You glossed over the where exactly.
He raised a brow but you could tell he wasn't upset. "I suppose it's alright...do you intend to keep it?"
"I was thinking about it...if that's alright.." you looked at him sheepishly.
He only smiled, "If it's what you desire, I have no qualms" he reached over to pet the little ball of fluff that was beginning to stir. It stretched in the cutest way before licking his outstretched fingers.
You couldn't help but giggle at the sweet display.
"What a sweet creature, have you thought of a name?"
"Hmm" you thought for a moment.
"I know! what about beans!"
"Wh-what?" Suguru let out a humorous scoff.
"Yeah because when she sleeps she curls up like a little bean...no good? Ok what about...."
He watched you in amusement as you pondered more names.
"What about General Utahime! The first woman general to lead men into battle!"
"I'm not sure that one is suited either..." he held back a laugh. More so because you were dead serious about the name.
"What really? I thought that one was perfect...hmm"
He couldn't wait to hear what other ridiculous name you came up with next.
"Ok this one has to be her name, it fits perfectly!"
"Please do go on" he gestured in amusement.
"We'll call her....Koi Fish!! Fish for short tho"
"How on earth did you come up with that?"
"Well you see, it makes sense, not only is she the color of the koi fish we have in the garden, but she was in water when I found her, like a fish! See its perfect"
"She was in the water?"
Oh
Oh no
What did you just say?!
"Oh uh I mean she was near the water, and you know how fish are sometimes found near water...." you trailed off hearing the stupidity in your own voice.
You had many skills however lying was definitely not one of them.
He picked up on it immediately and gave you a look.
"....well to tell you the truth, fish was about to drown and I um, saved her.."
He frowned at this, "Saved her? How?"
"I um...picked her out of the river" not a lie, however not exactly the whole truth.
Perhaps he would've assumed she was closer to land and that you managed to get her without getting in the water had it not been for the expression on your face that was full of the same expression his students give when they have something to hide.
"I have the feeling theres more to the story.."
Crap
"Well I may have had to uh, go into the water a bit.." at this expression changed to one of shock.
"You went in the river??"
You nodded a little afraid now.
"Y/n those waters are not only freezing at this time of year, but the currents have also been strong, please tell me you were only feet deep"
You wanted to attempt a lie again but it was no use. Your face said it all.
"I...she would've drowned Suguru..." you pouted at the thought.
"Do you have any idea how dangerous the river is this time of year?!" Damn it he was upset now. Although you had to hand it to him, he still managed to control himself and stay composed even when upset. But still he was stern...
You looked down at your lap, "I-I know but..." you didn't really know what to say. You never did well with people being angry with you.
"Many have fallen in been swept away before anything could be done, what were you thinking??"
"I...I just saw the kitten and went, I'm sorry I didn't think..." you shuffled in place uncomfortably. Fish seemed to sense your discomfort because she nuzzled into your lap affectionately.
You heard a sigh before feeling a soft hand atop your head.
Hesitantly you lifted your eyes and met Sugurus tired ones.
"You can't be so reckless with your wellbeing y/n." You nodded meekly,
"I'm sorry..." you heard a loud sigh before the hand on your head ruffled your hair.
"You certainly have a way of getting into trouble wife" heat rose to your cheeks, feelings more like a scolded child then the wife of the clan head.
"I don't mean to get into these situations..." you heard him chuckle before the hand on your head moved to your chin, lifting up your head in the process.
"Hm, perhaps I should have a guard with you all times. Then I would not have to worry as I do."
You couldn't hide the instant disgust at the thought of being followed all day, you already had Yuri to annoy you, you definitely didn't need anyone else.
"Heh I'm only joking, there's no need to make such a face" you blushed again, hoping the teasing would end.
"Please don't make fun of me..." you mumbled as he pulled his hand away but remained close.
"Y/n" his voice was more serious now.
You gazed into his deep eyes, sensing his shift in demeanor.
"I want you to promise me that you'll never do something as dangerous as that again."
You felt ashamed all over again, "I promise Suguru..." he eyed you for a moment before nodding in satisfaction. His usual smile back in a flash.
"Well that's settled now" you failed to meet his smile though. Those horrid thoughts of being a bad wife started to circle around your mind again.
"Y/n?" He frowned noticing your expression. "Come now, there's no need to be upset, I'm not angry, I just worry" he pulled your hand from your lap and you held your breath when he placed a gentle kiss on your fingers.
Your husband was definitely a charmer. All the servants made sure you knew how lucky you were to be married to such a kind and handsome gentleman.
Fortunately Fish chose that exact moment to jump on his chest so you had a moment to hide your heated face.
Geez y/n, you've literally slept with the man, why was your heart beating because of a simple kiss?!
"Oh don't tell me your jealous Fish?" Suguru mused as he pulled the clawing kitten off his body.
You couldn't help but smile at the sight. Fish squirming in his hand was quite the spectacle.
It was when Fish opened her mouth wide and clamped down on the flesh of his hand that you gasped and reached for the little monster.
"Fish you mustn't do that!" You held the kitty up to your face in a scolding way.
She seemed to understand as within an instant he demeanor changed and she was happily purring against you.
"Hm she certainly is an amusing one" you nodded in agreement.
You both spent the next few minutes watching her cuddle and ultimately fall asleep beside you.
"I know you said you were fine, but now that I know you were out in the cold I wonder if I should call the doctor just to be sure. You did faint in the bath after all. Are you sure you are feeling alright?"
You were about to protest once more but then a sharp ache reminded you of your injury.
"Well actually..." You did not really want to tell him but after what just happened you did not want to lie again.
You pulled the blanket away revealing your ankle that Suguru must have missed when he pulled you from the tub. The bandage was still wet and now stinging uncomfortably.
You pulled your foot closer to you wincing slightly at the pain.
"You're injured?" He said more to himself gently grabbing your foot and placing it in his lap. You protested at getting his clothing wet but he didn't care.
Gingerly he began to peel away the bandages apologizing when you whined a bit.
He frowned deeply when he pulled the last wrap revealing the jagged cut that was bright red with blood.
"Perhaps I will have a guard accompany you from now on.." He said a bit to seriously for your liking.
"It's really not that bad, it looks alot worse than it is- WAH ah! Suguru?!"
Suddenly you found yourself swooped up into the air, his hands on your back and under your legs. "Suguru what are you doing?!" You had no choice but to hang onto him so you wouldn't fall.
"I'm taking you to the doctor of course" He said already halfway out the door with you.
"B-But can't he come here?!" You blushed furoiusly as the maids took notice and began to giggle.
Suguru only smirked down at you, "He could, but this is your punishment for being such a troublesome wife and making me worry"
ooh where do you think he's taking her?!
hehe they're so cute, I wish my husband was that sweet with me
Awe I can't wait until they have a few little ones running around!
You could have died in embarrassment and chose to hide in the fabric of his Kimono.
"You know that reminds me..." he began in that nonchalant tone of his.
You peeked one eye out curious but also suspicious.
"It has been awhile since we spent some time together hasn't it?" You knew by his tone he didn't just mean sharing a meal or some conversation.
You nodded hiding back into his chest, any more embarrassment and you would jump into the river again.
"Heh, oh my little wife if you're embarrassed now I can't wait until later.."
************************************
Ah my first ever Suguru fic what do you guys think? Please lemme know in the comments I'd really appreciate it!:)

Animal death and grieving underneath
Long LONG post
My pet rat died today
Im.
I shed many tears. Im still holding some.
I had taken her to the vet and she stayed At night, she seemed better for a moment and I had Hope.
But as morning came, it was told to me how she wasnt doing só well.
Once I was able, I rushed out of work to see her. I could feel that she wasnt gonna make it.
For my great heartbreak, she died 30 minutes before I could 3ven leave work, The doctor meant to call me after work as I explained The night before I was coming out by 1 PM.
I.. Didnt get to see her before her Poor little heart gave out.
It made me Hurt, I couldnt do anything, I wanted to comfort her, tô be there for her.
And i couldnt. And this hurts. Much.
I talked with The vet, and got to know that At least she had a peaceful night, had yummy things to eat.
She loved her sunflower seeds.
She was one strange rat as she didnt want to socialize with other rats, became quite aggressive.
She was quite aggressive, when I met her.
Tumblr media
Jabuticaba was someone else rat At first, a friend of mine.
named after a fruit because she had big bulged eyes that looked like jabuticabas.
I remember my friend warning me to either shove the fingers through her cage bcs if we hovered she would bite. And boy did she bite
I remember one time that I went and poked her in her big round butt, and how she turned slowly, smelled my finger, and in one small beat of steadiness... She bit the HELL out of me!
Gosh it bled so much.
But I dont know why, every time I went to see my friend I liked to see her and interact with her. She was cute, and she was alone in her cage even if it was because she would attack other rats.
Then I decided to live with my friends.
And so she came as well.
I loved to see her wobbly walking, shaking her big butt as she walked, it was so cute.
And I kept seeing her, I kept interacting with her, My friend L let me get her to walk around my room. And it was so great.
She feared me so much at the start, first time I tried to hold her she panicked and jumped out of my bed and hands to the floor. She scratched me on the way down, trying to make it less hurt to fall I suppose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She hid so much and didnt walk that much, but then she grew used to me.
"It's only us here in this room, you dont have to worry anyone attacking you" I used to say.
And I remember that one time where I held her gently and said that, soothing her with a baby voice, she seemed to calm down.
She started to explore more, she started to walk more calmly on the room.
Tumblr media
I remember my friend C (shes also a veterinarian.) saying to me that she was blind. Because she didn't react visually that well.
And I tried to always approach noisily at her. She recognized me because of my high-pitched sounds when calling out to her, it was so cute to see her suddenly turn in my direction.
Tumblr media
I remember get a paper wrapping to play with her, making crinkly noises while going around the bed, and having her chase it and bite it. I tried that later because I did with my hand and well, guess who got a wound out of that?
Tumblr media
She ate so much sunflower seeds. We had to stop because C said that she had sedimentation problems.
I didnt know what that meant but she is a veterinarian and she said that even after we went through the vet.
I didnt had much responsability as owner at that time, because I wasnt.
My friends said how I was Jabus therapist. Because after some time she stopped being so aggressive.
Tumblr media
She had to take anxiety meds because she was an anxious mess and she was scratching herself.
...a lot like me and my dermatillomania now that I wonder.
Tumblr media
And after she started taking her meds, I kept interacting with her and she got better indeed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like to say that I was her Naruto and she was my Sasuke. With a better ending, I guess.
Tumblr media
But I basically bothered her so much she learned that humans are not gonna hurt her, she learned friendship with that haha.
Tumblr media
After I started working I couldnt be much in the house first, so she could only be monitored by L. I still interacted with her but she hardly left her cage which made me sad but at the time, problems started to arise at home and I couldn't let her out.
Tumblr media
We had problems at home, many things happened this last month and we had to split apart. It was an incredibly stressful situation and there's still finishing things to do.
Since Jabu had such a good relationship with me, we all decided that she would stay with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I moved back to my parents house last week, and I noticed how she was less energetic, and in fact, seem to be almost always breathing too hard.
She stopped drinking from her drinking thing, and I put a small bowl with water, and gave water to her with my finger so she could lick it.
As C said, she seemed to just hold on to rest when everything settled after the house fight.
I noticed she seem to eat less these days, and I was giving food to her by hand, which she took and always ate. But yesterday after coming from work I had the thought that maybe her day was coming, she was two years old and it was told to me that's the average lifespan of rats.
I then tried to let her get out a bit of her cage, and she walked a bit on my bed, it was cute. But she went straight back to her cage and she started to open her mouth as if she was trying to breathe.
I talked with C and she said it was best to take to the vet, and I went straight to it
I talked to her the whole way, I put her cage into the seat next to me with her cage, and she stayed in her hammock, turned to my side. The way her big bulged eyes stared at me the whole trip made my heart clench, and I talked to her the whole way, giving some pats to soothe her.
The vet talked to me, I explained the situation and changed the name of who was her owner BCS it was in C's name at the time.
I helped her to check on Jabu, holding her so she would feel at least comfortable knowing it was me that was with her.
she was such good girl.
Tumblr media
After some assessment, the doctor said that she probably had heart disease and maybe liquid in her lungs. I didn't know how that was possible but it was needed to make an X-ray. She said it was possibly best if she stayed the night so if she needed they would give her oxygen and be in observation, because she feared she would have an heart attack if trying the x-ray that day.
a pretty bad situation the doctor told me. She might die.
I saw her one last time and petted her to bid her goodnight.
I went home and I prayed in my room. To who doesn't matter, Im not Christian, I just wanted to pray loud for something on the universe.
Tumblr media
I have my head full of thoughts and they are all so unprompted, like lines of thoughts to have as options to how proceed with it.
I had the line of thought of prayer, to wish her to be okay.
the line that thought that she would indeed die, and I would get space in my room for other stuff.
The one that I had money if she didn't stay.
The one that I would pay everything I could to make her be okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started my grieving process this night. I prayed, but I knew that if she did live today she might die the next day in the x-ray, if she didnt then maybe Monday they would remove the liquid if it indeed had it. And if she survived that, it would still be pretty close, because she was two years old.
I discovered she was actually three years old, and I was surprised and more worried.
I received news when I woke up, that she was better by night, ate and peed and pooped alright.
I had hope once more before I went to work.
And it came crashing down after I left work hurriedly.
Tumblr media
I held her corpse and petted it and I had hollow in my mind, because it felt like a fluffy object.
I cried, I cried for an hour before my friend came to help me. I was saying for C and L what happened and they asked for updates.
I called them to say what happened.
C offered to come to be with me and I accepted. I knew she would know what to do, because I most definitely would NOT send her to be cremated.
I cried while waiting for her, I cried and cried and felt the bitter regret and hurt, because I couldn't give her a sunflower seed, I couldn't be there when she died.
I take comfort in trusting the doctor because C worked there and she knows they are all competent and caring, and I felt that as well. So I take comfort that while she was with strangers, she was treated very well, and the doctor even told me that she gave such yummy food for her, so I take comfort that she had something tasty to eat before she went.
Didnt hurt less. Still felt I didnt do enough for her.
Tumblr media
C's parents were here because of some stuff and so they accompanied us when we went to bury her. They were gentle to me even if I have to hide my transness from them bcs they have a history of lgbtphobia.
But they were gentle to me, her father helped us dig the earth.
her mother told me stories of when a beloved dog of her died, how she said for her dog to go in peace because she saw him suffering, and he closed his eyes and went nearly same instant.
C helped me put her in the hammock she used before she died. we put rocks over so no animal would eat her if they dug that deep.
I put her in the hole, helped put the rocks and earth back in, we grabbed a broken brick that was there to mark where she was. I started to break twigs and put it around to mark it more.
C offered for me to eat ice cream with her and I accepted it. I just. asked for some time first.
I stayed behind, and I left the hollow feeling take me, and I did what I do when I'm overwhelmed with nothingness, and just. stayed singing.
I grabbed random thistle weeds and kept singing, put them together with tree grass, struggling to tie, but kept singing so my mind would be occupied.
I found where we dug. 6 feet from the border of a cemented part.
I arranged again the twigs, and I put the small bouquet over the brick, stared at it for a while, still singing for my feelings as they craved to get out and I couldn't handle crying more at that moment.
I left, and shared ice cream, laughs and pet C's animals.
... And here I am now. in my home, retelling Jabu stories while it's still fresh in my mind, so I can come back and read it sometime.

"-They should be headed north now" Y/N spoke to the old woman that sat at the dining table who nodded in relief, head heavy and limbs aching but they all were now safe. The walls were gray and cracked from years of neglect, and the small clans house seemed to be moving in the breeze like thin branches of the oak tree that stood outside. It wasn't until a hoard was heard approaching, surrounding the perimeter of the house. Swords hissing as they were pulled out of their sheaths. Y/n stood frozen for a moment in front of the open door, watching the leader approaching, shrouded in darkness of the upcoming night, the shadows making his expression all the more sinister. Before long Y/n flung forward and slammed the door shut with all force in her body. The house spun and twisted, grotesque imagery surfacing from the walls that now felt like paper. Thin and rough faces screamed at her from behind the walls that framed their features. Mouths wide open, moaning and groaning. Then it all started to spiral out of control. The banging, screaming and shouting and pleading. All of it rang so far it reached the heavens above but no one came to their aid.
Realization came when they were all captured and forced to kneel before the enemy team- she had led her own team out of one certain death and into a slaughterhouse. She had let them all down, she failed them. Desperation and fear tugged and squeezed at her lungs and throat like a giant's hand. It felt as if each muscle was strained and simultaneously crushed as her captors seized her on each side by the arms. Watching her friends die by the blade. They were made to stand in front of her and then, with one swift stroke the sword was pushed through their jugular, making blood run freely into their throat, mouth and lungs. The blade was drenched to the hilt. Splatter of their blood stained Y/n's pale and cold cheeks, eyes wide with terror. She struggled to escape the hold but to no avail, all her power had been drained right out of her and wounds littered her body and made any attempt to move futile. Pain coursed through her body like a fire set ablaze to run wild.
But none of it could compare to the pain in her heart and mind. None of it came close. She wanted to shout and scream, to struggle and fight but that proverbial hand held her hostage until half of her team had been slaughtered. The bodies fell, continued to twitch and continued to be mutilated even after they had already died. Blood oozed and coated the ground, slowly slithering towards where she sat like a snake, before forming into a puddle around her. Guts laid scattered across the yard all around her, bringing a rancid stench to billow and blow all around. Adrenaline still coursed through her and finally it was her turn to stand and come before the bodies. They made her look at them, all their pale faces. Twisted and cut up, stained and blotched with blood of their own. Missing limbs were thrown onto the pile of death; whose, she didn't even know anymore. Smell of metal and decomposition was enough to make her insides twist in on each other and make her want to disappear. And she broke free, desperately clawing to escape, and behind her stood all the dead comrades, dark silhouettes with gaping white eyes and hanging mouths. Furthermore twisted and wrecked. It stopped Y/n from going further, fear seeping into her bones just as much as shame. She betrayed them- she failed them.
From the back she was dragged to the pile of death, her body twitching and pulling and struggling but none of it worked. Cries resonated through the trees in an echo, high pitched screams of despair. The long sword was slicked with blood, blade dull from cutting through so much flesh. The leader chuckled menacingly, but there was no sign of a smirk or even a mouth on his face which a shadow resided on. Black mass settled in the place where his eyes were, and for all Y/n knew he could have no mouth at all. He spoke- however she didn't hear his words, as if her head was pushed under in a bucket of water. She couldn't breathe nor decipher his words. The invisible giant's hand was squeezing more now, she could feel herself turning blue. Screams started again, picking up volume and intensity until it was all she could hear, ringing through her ears. It made her want to vomit.
The sword rose up. The blood riding down the length of the blade before it was sent flying through the air-
She woke with a startle, a small flinch throughout her entire body. The screams of her dreams now replaced by the hooting of an owl far away, the gentle but cold draft came through the open window and left gooseflesh in its wake. For a while the woman failed to move, believing if she moved or even closed her eyes she would be back at the pile of dead bodies. All senses slowly returned to her as the drunkenness of being asleep washed away. Taking deep breaths she felt her heart still racing, moving her hand to settle over the left side of her chest, feeling a fine sheen of cold sweat over her flaming skin.
Suddenly, tears sprouted in her eyes, stinging and clawing their way out before they freely slid down her flushed cheeks. Silently the few tears fell before she gathered the strength to sit up and push the covers off of her, sliding her body to the edge of the bed until her legs bent and reached the floor. Another moment of pause. Y/n felt her head swimming, still not fully recovered from the horrors her subconscious conjured. Finally Kaliyah stood on her legs that felt unsteady, tiptoeing around her still-sleeping husband. The halls were still dark, cold with the dawn slowly approaching and breaching the darkness. Only enough for her to see where she was stepping. Nimble fingers curled around the door to the front porch, gently tugging the door to open and only enough for her body to slip through before closing them again.
The cold immediately clung onto her, making her fold her arms over her chest in a self hug, attempting to contain the warmth she dragged from her bed. She took a few steps before she stopped at the top of the small steps which lead to a garden, a small paved path leading elsewhere, to the exit from the house yard. Looking up at the sky she saw the morning blue color paint the sky, with pale golden hues shining through the few scattered clouds that passed overhead. The night before she remembered the sky was littered with so many shiny specks of light, glowing bright on the canvas of dark navy blue. Not a cloud in sight and with the moon looking down onto them all- she only wondered what she did for the moon to let such horrific imagery pollute her sleep.
Coming to sit down onto the steps she let the cold seep into her muscle and bones. Feeling the rough and coarse texture of the wood beneath her, and next to her when she leaned onto a pillar which she sat next to. The cold grounded her there, bringing her back to reality. Wind brushed through her hair gently, like invisible hands, soothing her wrecked nerves and bringing comfort. Her line of vision then moved down, to the garden below. Remembering the time she and Tobirama were working on those gardens; planting the shrubs and rose bushes as well as many other kinds of flowers. All of what they planted grew swiftly, it all came to a full fruition as now a great cherry tree brough shade to the yard and rose bushes decorated the space next to the fences in full blossom. Red and pale pink, some even white in color. Large petals that would come to form a blanket over the grass once fall came in place.
In the bedroom, Tobirama stirred when she left, having already been half-awake when she too, woke. Believing she were only up for refreshment he didn't give much thought or effort in focusing on that - he didn't hear the small sniffle through his sleep dazed head. But as he didnt hear the faint sound of running water, or her footsteps retreating, his brows knit together and his mind worked on pushing the sleep away. The spot she once laid in was now cold. Pushing himself to sit he looked over to the spot, crinkled covers and sheets, and faint dark spots across the pillowcase. It didn't take a genius in Tobirama to understand what was happening. Nights like these were rare, but certainly nothing new to either him or his beloved.
Infusing his chakra he spread his sensory field throughout the house, slowly pelting over the areas. As he didn't find her in the house his heart leapt into his throat, before finally he sensed her on the porch. He was already moving out of the bedroom by that moment, sensing how her own chakra twisted and turned as if trying to find an offending thorn in the system. Tobirama creaked the door open, pausing for a moment when he saw her curled up figure on the steps. A frown tugged at the corners of his lips as his stare sat at the back of her head, then he was moving again, resuming his original slow and careful pace. He came up beside her, looking down at her and when she finally took note of his presence her eyes moved to meet his eyes.
Scarlet irises glared down at her with such softness and concern in them.
In a form of shame, guilty of waking him up, she cast her look down, bowing her head before returning her gaze to the garden that now looked too much like the yard from her dreams. Tobirama noticed the churn of emotion, eyes barely leaving her expression, only for a moment to follow her line of sight. The Senju sighed, watching the leaves sway in the early morning breeze.
He came to sit at her side, moving one arm to wrap around her shoulders slowly, and bring her closer into his warmth. It radiated off of him in waves, while her own warmth had worn off in the first few moments of sitting on the cold porch. She simply leaned into him, closing her eyes for a long moment, fighting off the frown and the images behind the curtains of her eyelids. Tobirama was at a loss of words, knowing how much physical affection meant for her comfort after such a dream - he didn't want to disturb this little peace he had provided then. It started to build up slowly. First with his arm wrapping around her, then when he added his other hand to stroke through her hair, tracing circles and moving through her locks.
Soon enough Y/n was completely engulfed by his embrace. Her own arms held around his torso, hanging on tight as a few stray tears ran down her cheeks.
"Y/n.." spoke Tobirama. His voice wasn't his usual baritone one, but instead it was so much more quiet, it was much softer, warm with care and love he carried for the woman in his arms. She swallowed the lump in her throat and lifted her head up, enough to meet his eyes once more. Puffy red skin surrounded her beautiful eyes, another tear taking shape already.
Tobirama exhaled through his nose, one of his open palms moving to cup her cheeks. His thumb moved back and forth with such care that it seemed as if he feared he would break her. His calloused hand held her like that, prompting her to move back slightly and let him just hold her and take a better look. His touch alone made warmth blossom over her cold skin, sending her blood circulating as her heart picked up pace.
His thumb caressed her cheek more, wiping away the tears that slid down. Before long his other hand detached itself from her waist and came to rest at the other side of her face; her own hands coming to wrap around his wrists, closing her eyes and basking in the pure solace she found in his hold. Her wet lashes touched her cheeks, fluttering ever so slightly and Tobirama watched, tilting his head to the side before leaning in. Pressing his lips against the crown of her head and holding himself there for a moment. Once he pulled away he searched for her eyes again, only to find them still closed. But the tiniest signs of a smile painted her features, it felt like color and warmth was seeping back into her.
Tobirama raised a brow when Y/n chuckled suddenly, burying her face in his open palms and hiding her abashed expression.
"What- Y/n?" Tobirama wanted to ask what was happening, confused at the sudden change of moods but he bid himself to stay quiet, a chuckle of his own interrupting his flow of thoughts. "What is it?" he opted to ask, searching for her eyes like that would give him an answer to his question.
"It's nothing, nothing at all." she responded, avoiding his gaze at first, but as the silence dragged on she was forced to look up and get captured in the eyes she loved so much.
"Well.... it's just you. You have this ability to be so sweet, and without uttering a single word." she explained herself, soft tone of voice carrying her words like a feather carried by the wind. Her voice was always a lullaby, a song, a melody to Tobirama's ears; her nimble fingers curled around his hands and brought them down from her face. And now her voice was still something so beautiful, now was no exception, and his smile was urged to spread further more at her words. And she continued- "And who would think a man so grumpy, such as yourself, would be comforting his beloved on a cold morning because of a bad dream-"
Tobirama shook his head at that, smile still ever-present on his lips.
"You have to learn to share your burdens with me, and not to hide them away and try to change the subject" he began, placing another chaste kiss on her forehead, at which she still leaned into. The troubles of her dreams would not be easily forgotten, especially not with a simple remark as she had just made. Still, Tobirama knew the limits, if he so much as saw a hint of hesitation he would stop his prying. But he knew the importance of sharing things such as these. Everyone has their limits and he would rather avoid what comes after the said limits have been surpassed. He himself suffered nightmares of his own, so he was no stranger to the heaviness they brought onto oneself.
"Let's get back inside first." He offered, said, as she stood up with one of her hands in his, bringing her up with him. She only nodded, looking at the garden for the final time before turning around with him. She moved languidly, moving into Tobirama in a subtle asking for his warmth again, which he immediately shared. Pulling her into his side once more, his arm draped around her waist as he led them both inside into the vast living room space. Morning was now quick approaching, and it would be no time until both of them had to leave for their own business. Tobirama wished they spend that time in peace and comfort.
The white haired Senju sat her down on the plush pillows at the table, guiding her carefully and gently, a hand on her shoulder before it retreated so he could stand up.
"I'll make us some tea." he announced, earning a guffawed look from his lover. With her neck craned slightly her eyes set upon his face she was met with the most gentle smile. Then he was off, disappearing into the kitchen ahead. From where she sat she could see him move about, fetching whatever he needed from the shelves.
The air was filled with gentle clicks of porcelain cups and soon the water boiling. Steam swirled in and slithered against the walls; white, thin and wispy. It moved like a snake, before being sucked out through a window that Tobirama opened, disturbing the dance of the steam. A subtle smell of mint and chamomile wafted in the air when the dry tea leaves were dropped into the boiling water, painting it a shade of honey yellow tinted with a deep green. The cool air still circulated throughout the home, now no longer as intruding as it was on the front porch but rather comforting when it began to mix with the heat inside.
Once the tea had been sat in front of the woman, her nimble fingers came to wrap around the small cup to lift it up to her lips. She paused, letting the smell come up to her nostrils before exhaling with a smile. Eyes came to close as she basked in the comforts of it. Tobirama sat beside her, nursing his own cup of tea, carefully as to not burn himself. The hot liquid was a salvation, it brought her to an ease instantly and gave her the relief of an empty mind. She had finally felt her heart settle back in her chest, the hum of her natural heartbeat returning. Even as they drank in silence, Y/n could feel the gaze of her husband as he looked over her features ,observing her every now and then, looking for any further signs of distress. And when he failed to find it he went back into his own mind, back to his own tea in hand. The silence went on undisturbed until the cups had been emptied completely. The sun now higher over the mountain that shielded the growing village.
Y/n took the utensils and the cups on the tray again, and disappeared in the kitchen to clean them. The water from the sink poured out cold and it splashed across her hands. It made her throat bob with a pang of anxiety that came out of the blue. Blood of her comrades, cold in her hellish dream. Yet she didn't stop, the thoughts only made her haste her task, and swiftly after she had been drying off the cups and placing them back on their shelves. The wave of disquiet went away, like it was never there in the first place. And Y/n went to retreat into the bedroom to change out of her own sleep clothes.
Tobirama was already inside, pulling over his work clothes just as she stepped in. He would have to take his leave very soon; it brought a sad smile to paint her features. She wished they could prolong their tranquil mornings.
Coming towards him he turned around in time for her to snake her arms around him, pressing her head against his shoulder. His arms came to envelope her, his warmth spreading across her entire body now, and his head came to lean against her. Her breath was gentle as she listened to his heart beat steadily.
"If.. if it would be of help, you could always tell me about your dreams. Don't hide yourself away from me.." said the gentle but gravelly voice of Tobirama; he treaded carefully, unsure of how exactly to word his thoughts. It was plagued with concern, he wanted nothing but to make dreams like this never happen again.
The woman in his arms nodded, eyes closed as she enjoyed the comforts of his embrace. Her hands went loose around his waist now, as tranquility overcame her once again.
"I know... I'm not hiding anything" she replied softly, nudging his head ever so slightly as to poke his neck with her nose. "It could have been worse.. but I promise to tell you when you get back, we don't want you running late" a sharp smile tugged at the corners of her lips and Tobirama seemed to feel it, as a smile of his own crept up his features.
"No, we don't want that '' he agreed, placing a quick kiss on top of her head, rubbing her back before he pulled away to gather his things.
Tobirama walked out to the front porch, his wife right behind him to say their goodbyes. He was going on a mission that day, and the night before both of them shared their time by cleaning off his armor, chatting. Now, Y/n took one more look at his armor, her fingers making a quick brush through his furred collar.
"Now you're all ready to go. Be sure to stay safe, don't be reckless" Tobirama huffed out a chuckle at her words, turning to face her fully with mirth in his eyes. She gleamed at him innocently, grinning before he brought her into a kiss. A quick one for their farewell, a silent promise of return lingering on his lips.
"I will, and you take care of yourself. '' And off he went, striding underneath the long and dark branches, and out of the yard. Fallen leaves blew and flew in the wind, as if following after him in their own silent good-luck bidding. A crow flew overhead, cawing while doing so before disappearing in the far horizon of blue.

Spencer knew it wasn't the safest thing in the world. you did too. but something about sitting on the outside window ledge together, talking and laughing, was far too tempting of an offer to pass up. and besides, it was just over 6 feet off of the ground! whats the worst that could happen?
and so you sat, shoulders smushed together so you could both fit. a blanket wrapped around you both, keeping the cool night air locked out. however, you were so close together (and so flushed) that even without the blanket you'd both still be warm.
you adored nights like this with him, thinking to yourself how you got lucky enough to call him your best friend. to anyone else, it was obvious you two were deeply yet obliviously, painfully in love. you watched as he retold a memory he had of the two of you, eyes widening and hands peeking through the blanket to gesture wildly with each sentence. though you were listening to the story, growing more and more fond of the memory now that it was being told from his perspective, you couldn't help but be distracted by him. his essence. his being. he was...intoxicating.
and then he cut to the punch line and looked to you for a reaction, watching beauty radiate from you as you threw your head back and laughed. he didn't even realize how funny it was until he saw how hard you were laughing. and then you snorted, which of course caused you to laugh more. with tears nearly coming out of your eyes, you wrapped your hands around your aching stomach, trying to control your laughter and completely forgetting that you needed your hands to keep you balanced on the window.
he took you in, a tranquility like no other filling his heart.
and then it happen.
in slow motion he watched you lose your balance, unable to catch his grasp as you fell towards the ground outside. fear coursed through his veins as he tried to calculate every possible out come. and then suddenly time was back to normal, and you were on the floor, a fresh cut on your head.
without missing a beat he jumped out after you, landing far more gracefully than you had.
you felt him lift your head into his lap, barely hearing his muffled words. you nodded when he asked if you could hear him for the fourth time. and then you felt some blood trickle down your face. and you did not do well with seeing your own blood.
that was it. you were gonna die. you never told him how you felt and you were going to die. you could even feel death pulling on your eyelids.
in reality, you had landed on your hip and your head hit a pointy rock. it felt like hell but medically you would be just fine. it looked a lot worse than it actually was, head injuries produce far more blood than other body parts.
spencer knew this as he peeled the cardigan off of his shoulders, bunching it up and applying pressure to your wound.
he picked you up bridal style, trying hard to cradle your head at the same time. he was beyond relieved at how relatively minor this was going to be. you would heal, and you would be ok. he got to his car and gently placed you in the passenger seat before running to the drivers side and taking off as fast as he possible could.
"Spencer," you rasped.
"don't talk very much right now. don't worry i'm going to get you to the hospital just stay awake for me you've probably got a concussion." he explained, looking over worriedly.
"im going to die." you told him, your brain feeling foggy from seeing your own blood.
"no you wont. i promise you wont die."
you went on telling him again and again how you would die and how the team shouldn't cry for you. and he patiently explained every time that you would be ok. and as he carried you into the ER you took one look at the cardigan that had rested against your forehead and convinced yourself 110% that you were on your death bed.
so it was now or never.
"Spencer before i die i want you to know that i love you. i always have. i just had to get it off my chest before i left this world with you still in it." you blurted as the doctors began to take you away.
he stood there, mouth agape at your confession.
"she is not going to die." one of the doctors reassured Spencer before turning on his heels and jogging to catch up with the rest of them.
it had to have been the loss of blood. or maybe a concussion fogged your thinking. or maybe he's in shock and he's hearing things. because there is no possible way that that just happened.
and so he sat in the waiting room for nearly an hour while they stitched up your head, nervously tapping his foot to match the pace of his racing thoughts.
he was thinking through every single moment the two of you had ever shared, wondering if-hoping that there was some truth to your confession, when they called out your name. he shot up faster than he ever had before, even getting a little light headed at the sudden quick stance.
he walked in to see you sitting up, drinking some apple juice that the nurses had brought you. and even then, in a hospital bed with half a dozen stitches in your forehead, you looked more beautiful than ever. he was astonished. absolutely astonished at just how radiant you were. your eyes twinkles as you smiled at him.
"so false alarm.. i didnt die." you joked, trying to hide your embarrassment, handing him a hospital issued jello.
"im so glad youre ok. you know i told you from the start we shouldnt have sat on the window," he chuckled, eyes feeling teary for a reason unknown to him.
"i know i know, you're always right." you giggled a little before wincing in pain from it.
his hand came up and lightly brushed your hair back, soothing you so much your eyes immediately fluttered closed. he had to bring it up, he had to know.
"did you mean it?" he asked.
you tried to control your heart rate while you played it dumb, "well yeah i really did think i was going to die."
"thats not what i meant."
"i know." you admitted. "yes. i meant it. i still mean it and if thats weird for you and you want to leave i completely understand-"
he cut you off by pressing his lips to your own, soft but passionate, tasting of jello.
it was a better profession of love than any speech he could try to make. because regardless of how many big words he used, it wouldn't be enough. not to mention that being around you makes his brain turn into mush, rendering it completely useless.
your heart rate monitor started going absolutely wild, beeping quickly and erratically. you both started laughing into the kiss, reluctantly pulling away. euphoria coursed through your veins, two lovesick bozos in the hospital.
you two talked for a little, buzzed from the kiss., smiling like a couple of idiots. but you were happy. sitting in the hospital with a cracked open head and you were still happy. because Spencer was there. and he makes you happy.
after talking to the doctor and a phone call with hotch, you were told to take two weeks off of work. spencer insisted that he go home early every day so he can come over and take care of you. and that was fiinnneee by you.

MTOBEIYF Planned Ending
Apologies for not writing in a long time. I haven’t been able to work on my fic due to personal reasons. Not sure if I will have time in the future but didnt want to leave people hanging so here is the planned ending:
May come back to this one day, so obvious spoiler warning
CH 8 Hide and Seek
The girl from 6 attempts to kill YN but YN wakes up hearing the sound of twigs snapping as she climbs the tree. She feigns being asleep only to swing her knife when 6 gets close, causing her to lose her balance and fall from the tree to her death.
At the sound of a canon Hoseok awakens – immediately seeing Athena, Namjoon and Yoongi all still in the tent. Realizing it could only be 6 or YN Hoseok rushes out and starts screaming her name over the edge of the fall. When there’s no answer, he immediately grabs a bag along with bow and arrow, and leaves camp. Namjoon says he’s coming too and this time they won’t return without her – brings a sword.
Athena notices the boys leaving and follows without them realizing.
Back in the forest YN hasn’t eaten since the games began and is beginning to starve. In desperation she makes her way back towards the cornucopia to gather food but comes across a bush filled with berries. Remembering the training she spent on foods she can’t decide if the berries are blueberries or nightlock and decides to nibble just a little bit first. The taste is initially sweet so she swallows the mouthful before a numbing effect on the tongue and throat- making her realize it’s the poison nightlock. Quickly she shoves her finger down her throat and induces vomiting to bring up as much of the poison as possible, but some is still in her system. She forces herself to throw up again before drinking all the water left in her bottle to try and rehydrate only to throw up again. Makes a run for the river.
Athena sees the nightlock and vomit and thinks YN has gone to the waterfront to try and wash it out of her system given there was no canon – so she’s still alive – but no one is there. Athena tracks. Meanwhile Hoseok and Namjoon are both near the bottom of the hill – they make a truce to not attack each other until Yoongi and Athena are dead before splitting up to cover more ground. Namjoon takes the forest, Hoseok goes towards the water.
YN drags herself in and floats on her back, scooping water into her hand to try and drink before Athena suddenly appears above her. YN is weak, with no will to live, and can tell Athena is about to kill her and asks for a quick death to which Athena promises a stab to the heart. Athena tells her she really does look like an angel and YN responds that Athena is her angel of death, a mercy killing saving her from a much worse fate with Namjoon or Hoseok. Athena agrees and steadies her with one hand under her rib cage, YN holds onto her arm with her closest hand and stares up to the ‘sky’. But before Athena can strike a blow an arrow is launched into the side of Athena’s head and her dead body falls onto YN, who is too weak to push her off. Hoseok sprints out from his hiding place to rescue YN, meanwhile Namjoon, watching from inside the forest, decides to head back to camp before sunset – knowing Hoseok and YN will be safe together.
YN is barely conscious as Hoseok drags her out of the water. Shouldering her bag with the blanket inside, along with his own bag, he carries her over to the waterfall and to 7’s old camp inside. He lays her down before running off to fetch dry twigs and branches in order to build a fire. As the sun sets and the temperature drops YN is still wet from the river and beginning to freeze. Hoseok strips her of her clothes and wraps her in the thermal blanket before another gift from a sponsor arrives of a container of hot soup. Hoseok feeds her and YN becomes more conscious but increasingly depressed about having survived.
She blames him for taking away her painless exit from the games and he asks her what kind of death she wants. Remembering how sweet the berries were she tells him she wants to die by nightlock. She asks him to promise to let her eat nightlock if they are the final 2 and he doesn’t answer. She then asks how he would want to die and he says he doesn’t plan on it and tells her to instead imagine being old together. She jokes about growing old and living in the arena forever before saying the capital would force them to kill each other somehow.
Still shivering under the blanket Hoseok strips off his remaining clothing to warm her up with skin to skin contact from behind. Initially starts with rubbing her arms before his hands circle around to her breasts.
YN feels ashamed at how quickly she responded and tries to push Hoseok away only for him to push her onto her back. She puts her hands against his chest unsure if she was trying to pull him closer or away. Looking her in the eyes he sees them glassy and in shock as he tries to sooth her, running his fingers through her hair lovingly. The other hand holds hers before moving his hand to wrap her thigh around his hip, kissing her as he pushes in. Hoseok wipes a tear from her cheek, a combination from the shame and how good the sex is feeling. Her eyelashes flutter close and she sighs her head tilting to the side resting her forehead against their joined hands letting out whimpers whenever he pushes inside of her.
His other arm braces himself by the side of her head, caging her underneath his body. She stares up at him entranced by the warm light of the fire casting a golden glow on his tan skin, as the shadows emphasize his sharp cheekbones, pointed nose, and strong jawline. If she was an angel then Jung Hoseok was the devil himself and she was being dragged to hell.  Hoseok uses his shirt to wipe her down before holding her tightly against him as they both fall asleep by the fire.

CH 9 A fate worse than death
They’re awoken by the sound of a canon early in the morning and quickly realize that they’re now down to just 3 people. YN wants to stay in the cave and wait for the last person to try and find them here but Hoseok wants to confront them at camp, telling her to wait for him. She refuses and follows him. He warns her of traps they set around the camp and holds her hand to guide her through the forest.
Nearing the camp they see Yoongi’s body floating face down in the river, ‘Namjoon wants us to know it’s him’ YN wants to walk through the river to avoid leaving tracks but Hoseok says it’s too visible and steers them back into the forest to take another way around to the camp, along the area he set the traps up in. Hoseok becomes suspicious the traps he set have been moved only to trigger a rope trap that he dodges only for YN to be caught in a net. As Hoseok tries to find the rope to cut her down Namjoon appears, severing the back of his leg with a knife. YN screams and Namjoon remarks that he looks forward to hearing more of that sound after he finishes with Hoseok, saying sharing time is up and that he wants to have his way with his district mate before securing his victory. He toys with Hoseok, making deep cuts that are painful, but not lethal – taunting him. It becomes increasingly clear that Namjoon deliberately toned down his skills in the training and assessment and is even smarter and stronger than his 10. Meanwhile YN is inside the net cutting a hole. As Namjoon teases Hoseok, telling him he’s going to force her to watch him die, then he’s going to fuck her and finally gut her like a fish from their district, YN falls out from the net and breaks her arm on impact – alerting Namjoon. Namjoon decides he wants to force Hoseok to watch and stabs his him through the hand with an arrow pinning him to the ground.
‘Silly little dove,’ Namjoon taunts as he reaches her laying on the ground – falsely thinking she’s cradling her broken arm – but she really has a knife. When he grabs her by the hair and yanks her up she swings her arm and slashes him across the chest, drawing blood. Namjoon sneers and goes to hit her but remembering their sparing session from training YN dodges the attack and is able to land another slash in with the knife, this time across his arm. Namjoon acknowledges his mistake in underestimating her and promises it won’t happen again. YN attempts to surprise him by attacking first but he blocks the knife and slams her wrist against a boulder until she drops it. YN slams her knee up in Namjoon’s groin who retaliates by gripping her broken arm and slamming her against the boulder. In too much pain from the broken arm she can’t defend herself when NJ backhands her across the face, sending her to the ground. She reaches for her knife but he steps on her arm and she screams in pain as Hoseok snaps the arrow in half and pulls his hand out of the broken stem, biting down on his shoulder to try and smother his scream. Namjoon leans down to grab her knife, holding it to her throat as he straddles her waist and tells her he’s going to claim her as his, and if she behaves then he’ll give her the quick death. YN sobs as he reaches for her pants only for Hoseok to appear behind and stab Namjoon in the neck with the tip half of the broken arrow. Namjoon drops the knife in shock and YN quickly picks it up and stabs him in the heart mockingly saying she’s granting him a quick death. She kicks his body off of hers and he floats down the stream towards the edge of the waterfall before disappearing off the side. – a canon sounds
Both injured, YN and Hoseok collapse into each others arms. Hoseok has multiple stab wounds, a bad one on his leg and the hole in his hand from the arrow. YN has her broken arm, a bruise on her face from the hit and a cut on her throat from where the knife had been held. Hoseok confesses he loves her as he cradles her in his arms, YN with her eyes closed and leaning against his chest can’t bring herself to admit her love but instead asks him to let her eat a nightlock berry like she tried to make him promise. Hoseok holds her tighter and asks if she trusts him. She says yes and Hoseok leans down to kiss her one last time which she returns. ‘close your eyes angel’ she does. With his injured hand he wraps his arm around her neck to cut off circulation, his good hand covers her nose and mouth, smothering her. She tries to struggle but passes out within 10 seconds, he keeps the hold for another 10 and the canon sounds
Hoseok is declared the winner of the games
 *
YN awakens inside of a medical bay. Confused she wonders if she is in a strange version of hell, or if the capitol has somehow found a way to harvest souls, before a nurse realizes she is conscious. She is informed that the trackers injected into the body detect when the heart stops beating which sounds the canon. Hoseok had refused to leave her body and demanded she be taken with him on the ship that came to claim him as the winner and remove him from the arena. Immediately on board he began to resuscitate her and is able to start her heartbeat again. He convinces the capital workers to let him keep her. She had died, he had won the games, if he could revive her afterwards it wouldn’t make a difference to them, they could continue to let everyone think she had died. The capital agrees on the conditions she is to live with him and never able to leave their mansion in the victors’ village and Hoseok is to comply with any future demands of the capital to do with his obligations as a winner. He accepts and the medical team take them both away. YN asks where she is now and the doctor tells her inside of the train. Hoseok is on victory tour of all the districts and refuses to let her be taken away from him – fearing the capital will dispose of her. He fears she could still be killed whilst inside the train but he would also raise hell during one of the stops if that happened. YN is confused, distraught and traumatized when Hoseok walks in to see her awake. He runs to her side and envelops her in a hug, kissing her. He repeats how much he loves her and that nothing can ever take her form this world without him following right behind her. YN is in shock, not believing she is alive, not believing Hoseok is real and struggling to speak. The doctor tries to explain to Hoseok she may have brain damage and it’s a possibility she could never recover. The only thing Hoseok cares about is that she is alive.
A summary of the tour continuing with YN recovering although her speech is permanently impaired (aphasia). When they finally conclude and return to 2 she is moved in a van that is disguised to look like a delivery and transported inside of a box from the van to the house, so no one can possibly see her.
Inside the blinds are shut and all the doors are locked before Hoseok appears again and forces an ‘engagement’ ring on her finger, but there is a device inside that tracks her location. YN begins to panic, she went from being trapped in one arena to trapped forever in this house. She tries to run but there’s nowhere to run to. She runs to the kitchen to search for a knife but Hoseok restrains her before she can injure herself. She goes limp in his arms losing all hope as he whispers in her ear how much he loves her and now they can always be together forever.

“Way to go dumbass! You ran like a little bitch before you even told her your name and now she thinks you hate her!” Jee scolded Junhui as he sat at his desk chair and groaned into his palms, already very over the entire situation and the sheer embarrassment that he called his life.
“It’s not like I planned it to go down like that Jee!” Jun quipped with a bit of annoyance lacing his tone. He REALLY didn’t need her to lecture him on how much he had just fucked things up in that moment.
But he wasn’t lying to her. He hadn’t planned on leaving you there hanging out high and dry. In fact, he had planned and thought out a whole scenario of what he’d do when he’d met you for real.
He was gonna go up to you, shake your hand, and make some cheesy joke about how you’d both just found your soul mate to break the ice. Then when he’d later reveal the werewolf bomb to you, you’d realize he was being literally and you’d both have a laugh about it.
Clearly that didn’t happen as he was now at home internally, and partially externally to be honest, freaking out because he ran away from you before he had even introduced himself. But he just wasn’t sure what else to do at the time.
When he had finally saw you standing there for the first time, he couldn’t help but run away in fear. He looked up and met your gaze and knew immediately: you were his soulmate.
You were the one he was supposed to spend the rest of his forever with. You were the one who he would love unconditionally till the day he died because his instincts and the universe decided so long ago.
And you were the most beautiful thing he had seen in his entire life. If he wasn’t drawn in by your silky hair or your petite frame, he would’ve been drawn to you by the lull of your soothing voice.
A voice so enchanting and haunting it would make the god’s cry. But if that wouldn’t have been enough, you accidentally getting vocally excitement at having found a word you understood in the conversation would’ve set him over the edge.
He was just too stunned stunned to say it all when it all went down.
He found his mate after he had to play guard dog for his sister. He had originally won Rock Paper Scissors with Jihoon and he still somehow got talked into going in the younger boy’s stead.
That’s the only reason he met you. Not that he was complaining now, but at the time, he was definitely less than enthused. Which was something he now also felt guilty about. How could he have ever been so unhappy about going when he got to meet the one person on the entire planet who could always make him happy?
But he was usually just the weird funny brother. He had never been taken seriously by his pack before.
He didnt have a romantic bone in his body, unlike Seokmin who would no doubt make every date magical for his mate.
He definitely wasn’t charming like Joshua could be around people. He surely didn’t have a cool and maintained outward appearance like Hansol or Hao had. Nor did he have a mysterious element to him like Jihoon or Wonwoo did to keep people guessing.
He couldn’t be a monster in bed like Soonyoung. He wasn’t nearly as desirable as Mingyu was. Or as strong as Seungcheol proved to be or as creative as everyone could see Channie visibly was.
He didn’t have drive and passions that Seungkwan had that drew people to him. And he for fucking sure didn’t have the brain of someone as smart as Jeonghan.
He was just Jun. The guy everyone always seemed to forget about. The one people said didn’t know when to pick and choose his moments. The boy who made inappropriate and confusing jokes that made others around him’s heads hurt. People never wanted to get to know him or his inner most thoughts and feelings.
Hell, in his mind, in Korea the only interesting thing that people cared about him about for was that he was Chinese. But you were Chinese too, so you wouldn’t have cared about that.
When he ever imagined meeting you previously, he pictured you loving him for him. He thought you’d already know when he was wanting to joke around and when he was wanting to be serious. He’d hoped you’d ask him his opinions when you’d spout yours and that you’d always look for him in crowds instead of losing him. He wanted you to see him as something he had never seen himself as.
But in the context he had met you in, he figured once you saw his goofy self or heard him awkwardly speak just once because of how flustered he was at your presence, you’d laugh at him.
Just like Cherry did during his first meeting with his alpha’s mate. He accidentally smacked Joshua in the face with his spatula when he tried to make himself an egg and got scared and she had walked in during the aftermath. Since then, Cherry must’ve only ever saw him as a clumsy oaf who couldn’t do anything right.
Or when Ani did whenever he first walked into the room when he met her. He fell down because the rug had been sticking up a little too high. She still seemed to expect him to make her laugh whenever he walked into a room because he was nothing but a joke.
And there was also the time when Omi and San laughed at him for almost an hour straight when he had once managed to get his head stuck between the bannister slats when he had his proper first encounter with them. Jun always thought that Omi treated him like the idiot kid he always prayed he wouldn’t be.
He wanted you to see him as someone worthy of being loved, not someone only worthy of laughs.
So he got scared. Could anyone really blame him? He was painfully shy naturally, but when you threw in the fact that his entire life was basically a sitcom where his character wasn’t even the lead role, his brain knew that it was only a matter of time before you thought the same way.
He was just too frazzled and too scared to greet you well. He wished he had been different for you. But the truth was, he had always tried to be different. And look where it got him.
He was still nothing. He was still no one. He never would be and never could be. He was just himself and there wasn’t a damn thing he could seem to do about it, even for you.
“So what are you gonna do to fix it?? She’s gonna be my roommate now and even if you don’t want a mate at the moment, she’ll still be around!” Jee huffed as she sat herself on Jun’s unmade bed, “I don’t plan on giving up my apartment anytime soon because I’m not living in a house with 13 boys and a bunch of girls. That’s basically a frat and i didn’t sign on for that! I need her and her money to keep it so you gotta get over yourself.”
And almost as if on cue, Jeonghan popped his head through the door and situated himself against the doorframe, “Hey frat houses can be fun too you know.” He chuckled.
“For YOU maybe. But IIIIII like my space. And now I’m gonna be sharing that space with a very confused and emotional Chinese girl who has no idea why one of my ‘friends’ hates her.” Jee declared with an emphasis as she rolled her eyes at both the males.
Jeonghan crossed his arms with a chuckle and set his attention to Jun, “So what ARE you gonna do knucklehead?”
At the moment, the wolf who newly imprinted could only give one answer, one he knew that they wouldn’t like, “I-I’m honestly not sure Hyung.”
-
You managed to sneak your way out of your newly shared apartment before the Korean girl you had been paired with woke up.
She was kind to you when she brought you through the door and gave you a grand tour. She even let you pet her cat that she seemed to be incredibly protective of, which you were grateful for as petting the small animal seemed to put your mind at ease a bit.
But you got a sense of guilt that was just radiating off her in waves over the incident that happened with her friend.
The whole thing was a complete shit show and, even though you found the boy a bit weird in his mannerisms and thought he was a bit goofy acting/looking, you had actually thought he was kinda cute before he ran out on you without saying a word.
You didn’t understand why he did it. You didn’t think you were the prettiest girl in the world sure, but you definitely didn’t think you were worth hiding from. It hurt your pride a bit, something that didn’t happen too often because you refused to let yourself feel too much.
It was also something that the two others around you at the time managed to catch on to as they began shifting in place rather uncomfortably. Jee tried to act as if everything was normal, but it was clearly not.
After, you really just prayed that you didn’t have any classes with the boy who pushed past you and ran for the hills.
That’s how you now found yourself walking to school with a deep dread creeping in your stomach, worried that you would somehow see Junhui during your time on campus.
Almost as if the world liked seeing you swallowed whole, you heard a familiar male voice in the coming distance.
“_____! Hey! Wait up!” Called the voice.
Shit.
You scurried your little feet as fast as they could carry you towards the main library entrance and partially up it’s stairs in the hopes of avoiding an awkward confrontation.
But alas, it seemed fate decided to be a bitch to you for no reason other than to humiliate you further today as the chinese boy behind you managed to get himself within grabbing distance of you.
“Hey _____!” He exclaimed as he took your rather small wrist in his large hands causing you to turn around to face him fully with a glare.
He quickly retracted his hand back to his own body before scratching the back of his head uncomfortably, “Sorry! I tried to get your attention first. I- I was calling for you, but I guess I must not have been loud enough to get your attention.” Jun gingerly explained with sorrowed eyes.
God you hated how pretty he looked. And you hated even more that he seemed to act like yesterday didn’t happen and that you had actually had a real introduction with him.
“No, I heard you.” You told him flatly and coldly, “I just didn’t care to stop.”
You could see the sadness in his eyes gain in size while he took a discomforted gulp that must have been visible even to passerbyers.
“O- Okay… I… probably deserved that…” He admitted with a sheepish grin, trying to hide how much your harsh tone truly dug into his fragile heart, “I was- well I was actually wanting to speak with you about… what happened.”
“What do you mean?” You figured playing dumb gave you your best chances to get him to leave you alone faster. Or at very least make him feel as bad as he had made you feel.
“You mean you… don’t remember what happened yesterday?” He asked slowly, a slight glint of what you could only call hope appearing behind his eyes.
“You mean you when you completely blew me off and walked away rudely when your friends tried to politely introduce us? No, I still remember it. I just don’t care.” You snapped at him in Mandarin, causing him to semi-shrink back into his giant shoes.
Jun cleared his throat quietly, “I- I know you must be upset with me over it but I wanted to-” He tried before you swiftly cut him off.
“Look, you seem like an asshole. Or maybe just an idiot. I’m not sure which and I don’t care enough to find out.” You declared with sass, preparing to completely make him wish he had never stopped to speak to you, “I don’t have to. I’m just rooming with your friend for the semester. It’s not like we have to be best friends just because we’re one of the handful of Chinese students in a Korean college.”
Sure you wished you’d make friends you could fully understand without fail, but some guy who literally ran away from you at first glance didn’t have to be one of them. You could make friends that weren’t Chinese. You just had to work on your Korean some more.
“But fact of the matter is we really only have two options here. Option one is where we both try to get along and put on smiling faces for your friend Jee’s sake. Option two is where you stay out of my way and I stay out of your way so we see each other as little as possible. I’m leaning towards option two.” You finished confidently, leaving the tall boy in front of you dumbfounded while standing a few steps below you.
“B-But that’s what I’m talking about. We’re gonna end up having to see each other quite a lot since you live with Jee and she’s my s-” He stuttered for a moment, you figured it was because you had taken him off guard by being so blunt and emotionless about the whole situation, “She’s my friend, one of my very best friends. And I’ll probably be around a lot because of it and you’ll have no way of avoiding me because you live with her. So we should probably just-” You stopped him him dead in his tracks once again.
“Then I’ll find somewhere else to stay. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a lot of homework to catch up on.” You rolled your eyes, gripping the books in your hand a bit tighter, and starting to turn yourself around before he caught your elbow in his grasp.
“But I-” He attempted to talk with what little voice he had left, but you were really over him and the whole conversation in itself.
You had classes to start preparing for and he clearly was not someone you wanted to actually be around if you could help it. You didn’t deal with people like him back home, so you sure as hell weren’t going to start dealing with them now.
“But I- nothing!” You all but growled at him as you ripped your arm away from him in defiance, “Maybe I wasn’t clear enough for you so let me spell it out. You’re here because Jee sent you to apologize, to make nice, or because you like creating drama. No matter the case, you aren’t my problem. I won’t put up with it. So you need to just leave me alone!” You shouted at him, causing your fellow students to turn around and gawk at you both.
Great. Just what you needed: to be even more of an outcast then you undoubtedly already were as a foreigner struggling with their native language.
You hurriedly moved away from Jun and finished your way up to the library building’s stairs without sparing him a second glance.
Though, you could’ve sworn you saw his eyes begin to water in the reflection of the glass doors in front of you as you pushed open the entrance to the building.
And, even though you hated to even think it a possibility, it felt like part of you died inside a little when you realize just how much you could’ve hurt his feelings.
-
You had been at the library for so long that the sun had completely gone down and the full moon was now shining brightly in the dead center of the sky.
All the main lights that were once annoyingly buzzing while on, were now off and all the other students that had once been packed into all the chairs like sardines had gone home.
The librarian, a nice woman who had quickly recognized that your abysmal Korean had a Mandarin based accent behind it, had also gone home.
But she was kind enough to lock all the outside doors so no one else could get in with you still knowingly inside. Which made it to where only people who were already inside the building could open the doors without a key.
She told you that she didn’t mind you staying behind to catch up on your work as she knew the struggles of being new in a foreign land. She turned out to be from Jilian.
You actually found a bit of a friend in her as, knowing full well your Korean wasn’t up to par enough to read such complex vocabulary just yet, she brought you out some of your student textbooks that were printed in Mandarin rather than standard Hangul you would’ve struggled to read.
You were a bit sad that she had to leave as she did manage to bring a warming comfort to your now aching heart.
As hard as it was for you in Shenzhen, it was still your home and being so far away from people who could understand you with ease made you quite homesick. It made you feel lonely already, even though you hadn’t been in Korea for more than two days.
She did promise you that you could come by to see her when she was working any time and that, with a little luck, she might also be able to get you a part time job as her assistance to earn some money on the side, something that would very much help you out if you actually had to move out of your current place due to the issues you were having.
Now, it was so quiet you thought you might actually be able to hear a pin drop on the floor. You didn’t like being alone all that much to begin with, but the library at your new university was huge and everything seemed to echo and make noise.
Which of course gave you various jump scares that made your pulse race out of your chest. Still, you decided to stay as long as you could to catch up on some much needed studying.
Though it seemed that you just found yourself reading the same book’s page over and over again in the hopes of actually retaining the information printed. You had a stack of books sat up on the table nearly as tall as yourself that you needed to get somewhat through before you started your classes tomorrow.
But you couldn’t even get past the first one. You just couldn’t get Jun out of your head.
You couldn’t get his sad expressions and worried tones of voice out of your train of thoughts. And everytime you closed your eyes to blind, you could see his face still looking at you through the glass of the library doors.
You felt bad. You didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Even if you did think he was kind of a dickhead. You weren’t someone that could ever make others sad on purpose and still be able to sleep soundly at night. And based on how your meeting with him went, you definitely upset Jun.
Damn it. Why did you always have to be the bigger (theoretically of course) and kinder person?
You smacked the book you were attempting to read closed and started putting the scattered notes you had scribbled down into your shoulder bag, swinging it back on so you could leave.
Figuring, since you didn’t have his address or phone number, you could arrange something with Jee. You were going to just go back home and explain to her what happened in the hopes that she’d be able to at least express to the lanky boy that you didn’t mean to snap at him, even if he was a jackass.
In your mind at the time, he deserved it. But No one deserves to get yelled at and be humiliated like that in public.
As you made your way out the front door and tugged the handle once more for good measure to be sure that it was in fact locked, you heard a low growl of an animal behind you.
You turned and found yourself face to face with a giant doglike creature with brown fur streaked in a deep auburn shade. It had it’s razor sharp teeth bared to you and it’s near pitch black eyes were looking at you menacingly while it emitted a loud snarling sound from it’s chest.
At first, you wanted to run as fast and as far away as you possibly could to get away. But you figured with how big the thing was, there was no way you could outrun it. It could catch you instantly.
Then your natural instinct was to want to scream. But when you attempted to, no sound would come out of your throat. Almost as if your body knew it would only cause it to get angrier with you.
And you definitely knew you couldn’t fight the thing. It was too big and broad for you to be able to even give it a scratch without it tearing you to pieces the second you moved a muscle. Your body seemed to just freeze it place, having accepted it’s terrible fate without actually talking to your brain first.
The wolf began slowly pacing towards you in a ready to pounce stance, causing you to back up on reflex and hit your back against the glass doors you had recently just locked. It had managed to get so close to you, you could feel the moist exhale from its nose hit your face.
It’s dark as night eyes seemed to shift to a deep crimson color and you just knew: you were done for.
You were going to die and there wasn’t a single thing you could do about it. You couldn’t help but close your eyes in what you thought were your final moments, too scared to even face the voracious creature as it ended you.
Though just as the growl seemed to get it’s most menacing, you heard another distant snarl that made your eyes pop back open to find the origin of the sound. Your gaze landed on a very angry, very standoffish looking Jun.
At first, you thought that he was just fucking with you or that maybe he had been trying to distract the giant dog like thing away from you.
But as he started getting closer to you, you could tell his fists were clasped shut tightly and that his jaw was clenched so hard you thought his teeth would break.
He didn’t look worried for you, he looked… pissed off. His nostrils were flaring, his muscles were tensed, and you could’ve sworn that his eyes were almost the same scarlet color as the beast’s…
The animal that had once been facing and turning its fury at you had now turned its attention towards Jun, almost as if it refused to keep it’s back to him.
As the taller boy got closer, the giant mutt started to take steps back and it’s once terrifying tone began to change to one that reminded you of a wounded animal. Yet it kept its tough poker face and it seemed to be standing it’s ground in wanting to attack you at the same time, which just confused you even more.
It wasn’t until Jun managed to place himself between you and the wild animal that you realized he was showing his teeth and lowly growling at it in return.
“Get away from her.” Jun seethed as he extended his fingers to reveal some very long, very sharp claw-like appendages you had never seen outside of horror or sci-fi movies.
This caused the wilderbeast in front of you to snap and charge at him, making you wince in anticipation of the horrible event you figured was going to take place once it’s mighty jaws clamped onto his very thin and lanky body.
But it never came. Instead, you witnessed the boy who you had basically told to fuck off earlier jump midair, morphing into a similar beast to the one that had previously threatened to attack you.
The newly primal Jun landed his paws on top of the other animal, causing both of them to tumble down the stairs in one giant furry jumble.
“_____!” Another familiar male voice called, forcing you to look away from the fight in front of you to find its source.
You were met with a very frantic Minghao carrying a very worried Jee on the back of a fairly decent looking motorcycle.
The bike sped up from the street and stopped on the sidewalk next to the school library’s staircase, “_____! Hop on, we have to go!” Jee spoke in a hurry while Minghao pushed himself off the two wheeled vehicle and handed her the helmet he had been wearing.
Her voice seemed to shake you out of your state of shock just enough for you to regain some semblance of sense, “B-but what about Jun he-” You started in broken Korean before you saw Minghao change into the same animal that the tall boy had only moments before and watched as he joined his friend in the fight.
From the corner of your eye, you saw what you could make out as two more beasts start to rush to his aide as well, one with gold like fur, the other with patches of black adorned on it’s reddish brown colored body.
“He’ll be fine, the boys have his back trust me!” Jee practically screamed at you as she got up from her stationed seat and ushered your statued body onto the bike, “But we might not be if we stay here so we have to go now!” She continued, strapping Minghao’s helmet onto your head and connecting your hands in front of her stomach as she started to rev the motorcycle and drove off, leaving the giant dogs fighting behind in the distance.
You should’ve been scared for yourself. And maybe even a small part of you was.
Though as Jee started to drive the both of you away from the battle that was no doubt taking place back at the library staircase from the sound of the snapping and growling you heard, you couldn’t help but care more about Jun’s safety than your own.
The rational part of you couldn’t quite grasp why you seemed to worry more about a boy you only hours ago hated more than yourself. But that rational part of you wasn’t nearly as strong as whatever strange worrying and concerning ache you felt in your heart.
-
“Jee!” Jeonghan exclaimed as he passed his younger brothers while making his way back through the front door with Minghao, Chan, and Jun and ran to his mate, “Fuck, thank god you’re okay. You know that I hate it when you’re involved with wolf stuff.” Jun could semi-hear him say through his dulled senses as he watched his brother give his newest sister a bone crushing hug.
“Yeah I know, but she probably wouldn’t have trusted anyone but me or Minghao and we figured he had to fight. So that left me. I’m fine…” She shushed him and kissed his cheek to calm him down.
Jun could sense something was… off with you the second you left him standing there after you went to the library. When he called and told his alpha, Cheol told him that it was probably just nothing and he convinced him to go back to the house.
And for a little while, the feeling subsided. But about an hour or two after the library closed, his heart started to pump fast and hard like nobody’s business and he got a gut wrenching feeling.
He told his pack what was happening and that he didn’t care if anyone of them followed him or not, but that he had to find you because he felt like you were in danger.
And then he rushed out of the house and followed the imprinting pull back to the library where he found you face to face with the most gigantic werewolf he had ever seen looking absolutely petrified.
He knew he hadn’t seen that particular wolf form before immediately. His pack was friends with the few other packs that were close to them and not one of them looked like the wolf in front of you when they phased. He thought maybe for a split second it’s smell might have been familiar, but he didn’t have much time to register it as it started to bare its pointed fangs at you.
The moment he saw the wolf, he figured based on the aura he gave off to be an alpha, in hunting mode, he went into protective mode and jumped in to save you. Whether you liked him or not, you were still his mate. And he’d do anything to keep you safe.
Junhui was never really a fighter. He figured the chances of him winning against such an aggressive alpha when he wasn’t skilled in combat was slim to none.
But he sure as hell had a better chance at taking him on than you did. He was really just lucky his brothers showed up when they did or he probably wouldn’t have made it out of the fight in one piece.
Jeonghan and Chan followed the Chinese boy because they knew what it was like to be worried about your mate and wanted to help. Minghao went because he already considered you a fast friend and a dear sister and couldn’t stand the thought of something bad happening to you. And Jee went to be sure you’d trust the boys enough to leave whatever situation you’d end up being in.
When the few from his pack joined in, it made the fight much more fair. Sure the boys were all banged up with some bumps and bruises because the unknown large wolf put up one hell of a fight, but they all made it out alive. Sadly, the foreign wolf did too.
He was a skilled fighter and was able to take on the four of them with total ease. He seemed to almost know every move they would make before they made it, something that frightened Junhui to his core. In the aftermath and once the scrapping ceased, the only thing he cared about was getting back to the house and making sure you were okay. They’d have to deal with the stranger another day. But for now, you were his top priority.
“So how is she?” Chan asked as he wiped some dried blood off his lip and went to hug his own little family that had stayed up late impatiently sitting on the couch waiting for him to get back from the fight.
Jun could blurrily see Jee pull away from his older brother and look around at them all with a concerned look.
He didn’t really understand why everything sounded so different now. He recalled a time when Seungcheol talked about how when he imprinted, it felt like the world had almost shifted so that Cherry was the only thing keeping him on Earth and that everything else came second. He had said that if he wasn’t around her it almost felt like he was just wandering around lost no matter what he was doing. Jun figured that was just Cheol over exaggerating or maybe even rubbing everyone’s nose in the fact that he had a mate at the time and no one else did.
But it made Jun wonder if the feeling of motionlessness was what his alpha was talking about. Without you around, he just felt so… empty.
“Well… _____… She…. Umm-” Jee drug on and tried her best to show a confident smile, though it looked more like she was in some serious pain or discomfort.
“She’s locked herself in the bathroom and has been refusing to come out.” Omi interrupted with a shake of her head as she bounced over to the Pup of the pack’s lap and snuggled herself into his neck, “We think she’s in shock.”
“You might want to talk to her hyung. She hasn’t said much that’s made sense that we could hear well through the sobs. And you know my Chinese isn’t all that great, but I think _____ keeps asking if you’re okay?” Soonyoung said with a questioning tone while playing blocks with a jittery San on the floor so Chan and Omi could have their little reunion in peace.
Soonyoung’s words and mention of your name and of your current state seemed to break Jun out of his daze just in time for everyone in the living room to give him an expectant look.
With a small confirming nod, he made his way down the hall to one of their smaller downstairs bathrooms. As he got closer, he recognized the sound of your sniffles, something that made his inner wolf want to whine loudly at. But he couldn’t focus on him and what he wanted right now. He had to focus on you.
So he gave three small knocks with the back of his knuckles to the back of the door before he spoke, “_____? It’s Junhui.” He whispered softly in your native Mandarin.
He heard some tiny movement along with a few small clicks that made him move back so the door could open. When you unlocked the knob and cracked the door, Jun saw your puffy mascara stained face as you stared up at him with widened watery eyes.
Seeing you so upset hurt him more than he could ever express in words, but he couldn’t just pull you in for a hug and kiss you all better. Not after everything that’s happened. You two weren’t mated or even dating yet.
As much as it killed his primal instincts, he had to take things slowly to not scare you away. He just hoped you weren’t already too freaked out to even talk to him.
“Can-” He cleared his throat slightly to regain some of his composure, “Can I come in?”
You gave him a tiny nod before you moved yourself away from the door, allowing him room to sneak by the wood and through to the bathroom to face you. You quickly flew back to the door and hurriedly shut it while locking it with a loud clicking sound.
To say you were in shock was a bit of an understatement. You couldn’t wrap your brain around what had happened only a little bit ago. Truthfully, you had been trying to convince yourself it was all a dream. But the second you saw Jun’s scratched and scathed face, that hope of it being a dream became dust.
You rested the palms of your hands and the top of your forehead against the door in an attempt to wind yourself down from the utter panic that was still coursing through your veins.
“_____?” You heard Jun ask from behind you, causing you to flinch. You heard a small whimper that made you finally fully face him.
You took in his beaten up appearance. His cheekbone has a long scratch going from the start to the tip of it’s apple. The skin on the eye on the other side was black and blue whereas the whites of the eye itself were blood red.
His bottom lip was split in two right down the middle and his forehead had a gash the side of your relatively small fist. And as if all that wasn’t enough to just break your heart, the expression on his face was that of a kicked puppy.
“Are- Are you alright Junhui?” You prayed.
“Me?” He retorted in an almost surprised tone, “Yeah I’m- I’m okay. Are YOU okay?” He implored as he grabbed your shaky hands with his red ones and began examining you as thoroughly as he could in the limited amount of time before you answered him.
“I’m- I’m not hurt. Not like you.” You decided, hands still snug in his like they were a warm blanket causing him to give you a sweet smile, “But I’m… very confused…”
He sighed a bit louder than he probably should’ve before he pulled the toilet lid down and took a seat, “Yeah if I were you well I’d- I’d probably be pretty confused too.” He declared with a short chuckle, “I take it you don’t really understand what happened back there right?”
You nodded at him as you brought your hands in front of your stomach and began picking at the nail beds out of nervousness.
“Well that wolf that you saw-” Wolf? Was that what that thing was? “-Was really a person wanting to attack you. Are you following me? Does that make sense?” He asked, already unsure if he was explaining anything in a way that made sense to you.
You nodded once again. You weren’t really following too well. And it didn’t make any sense to you.
But you had so many questions and concerns running through your head that you wouldn’t even know where to start even if you had the courage to stop him and let him know.
“Good. That’s good.” He paused and ran a shaky hand through his untamed hair, “Well I had a feeling that you might’ve been in danger, so I went out looking for you.” He explained as simply as he could.
It wasn’t like it was a total lie anyways. He really did have a feeling you were in danger. And he really did go out looking for you. He just had a more pinpointed way of knowing what something was wrong and he had an instinctual gps that let him find you than he said out loud.
“And when I got there and I saw him ready to charge at you, my instincts kind of took over and well I-” He gulped, trying his best to bring up the subject of him being a wolf without freaking you out too much.
You must’ve seen him shift back at the school when he jumped at the other wolf, so it couldn’t shock you all that much. Right…?
“I shifted out of instinct when I thought he was going to hurt you to protect you. Because I well- I just couldn’t let anything bad happen to you.” He finished shyly.
“Shifted?” You questioned aloud, oddly keeping your cool in front of him despite the given circumstances with a tilt of your head, “What does that mean?”
Jun couldn’t help but to swallow harshly again, “Shifting is what happens when a person changes from a person…” He slowed his words to match your train of thought, “Into a- well well you know… into a werewolf.” He reiterated, keeping true to his original thought in wanting to keep things as simple as possible while also not necessarily hiding the truth from you.
You chuckled while you asked him in disbelief, “A what now?”
Surely he was just fucking with you. Werewolves were just a fairytale or scary stories parents told their kids to make them think scary things like that actually existed so they’d stay in line and out of trouble. They weren’t real.
“A werewolf,” He attempted again, “That animal that was trying to attack you, that’s what he was. He was a werewolf.” He took a deep breath in, “And I- well I guess I should say WE are werewolves too.” Jun began scratching the back of his neck as a sign to show he was a bit at a loss himself.
He had never told anyone what he was before. All his past relationships usually ended before things got serious because he lost interest in them and the only real friends he ever had were from his pack or from neighboring ones.
In fact, knowing how awkward and shy Junhui could be, if his parents weren’t already familiar with werewolves because his dad was one, chances are he wouldn’t have even told them.
It was all very new to him and he didn’t really like the idea of speaking on the subject, but he knew you deserved an explanation as to what happened to you. And he knew you’d eventually find out anyways because you were his mate and he’d eventually have to explain to you what that meant.
He just sort of wished it could’ve been at a later time when the two of you were more comfortable with each other.
“Wait- Hold on a second. Back up, WE?” You quizzed at the boy in front of you in an astonishing tone and with wide saucer eyes, “What do you mean by WE?”
“I mean me and my pack. You know, The others that live here. Well… the guys at least.” You waited for him to let out some sort of laugh to put you at ease and to tell you that he was cruelly joking with a smile on his face.
He wasn’t laughing. And he wasn’t smiling. He had a face as serious as a heart attack etched on to his perfect bone structure.
Truthfully, he semi-expected you to run out of the house screaming once he told you he was a wolf. But as he listened for your erratic heartbreak and watched your body language for any signs of distress, he realized something: your usually fast paced heart wasn’t speeding up more, it was actually beginning to slow down and revert back to its normal rhythm. It definitely threw him for a loop.
It was something that seemed to even be confusing you yourself as your eyes began to wander around him and your lips pursed inward. Then, You gave him a look he couldn’t quite place. It didn’t seem malicious or enraged necessarily. If anything, it seemed more concerned, which again was NOT what he was expecting you to do when he told you he was a giant fluffy four legged monster with a tail.
You had just nearly been mauled to death by a huge wolf creature. Your life had just been saved by the boy who you all but hated earlier in the day. And now you were being given the world’s most shocking information that big bad werewolves from tv and stories actually existed. Yet you weren’t afraid. Why was that? Why weren’t you afraid?
“Oh… okay.” Was all that came out of your lip glossed mouth while you leaned against the bathroom wall for some support in an attempt to ground yourself.
But truthfully, you weren’t sure even a brick wall could ground you at that point. You felt like you were flying away and falling down all at once.
“We aren’t bad though I swear!” He defended his and his friends brand to you with his hands up, “We’d NEVER do what that guy did. We only do that sort of stuff in self defense. Or if we’re playing around with each other and goofing off,” He began to ramble information that he soon realized you probably didn’t need to know, “But we’d NEVER do that to an innocent person!” He emphasized nervously, “We’d never do that to you- I’D never do that to you! So please just… don’t freak out, okay?” He practically begged you as he didn’t want you to deny him already. But you once again surprised him.
“I’m not freaking out.” You informed him calmly, much to his surprise.
“You’re- You’re not?” He questioned as he bit his now busted lip in a rather pathetic attempt to hide his excitement that you were taking the news well.
He was incredibly worried he’d already fucked the whole “I’m a wolf” conversation up. He was mentally preparing himself to have to watch as you bolted out the front door.
Yet here you were practically telling him you believed and were okay with him. He was over the moon thrilled. He just couldn’t help it.
“No. You’d think that I- I would be. Hell, I’D think I-I normally would be. But I-I’m not afraid.”
Junhui wanted to get up and dance around the small restroom from how happy he was that you not only weren’t scared of him, but that you were even willingly admitting it to his face. But through the elated buzzing in his ears, he heard you ask a question that quickly changed his new grooving mood to sheer panic.
“Jun… w-why aren’t I afraid?”
And just like that, his own heart began to race and he was the one doing exactly what he had only moments ago asked you not to do: freaking out.
The hesitation in your voice when you asked your question worried him more than he cared to admit. But he knew at the end of the day he had to try and tell you what was going on, even if it made him uncomfortable and unnerved him.
“Well I- um… it’s a bit- that’s a bit complicated because…” He was searching for something, ANYTHING to say other than what he knew he’d inevitably have to tell you, but began failing miserably.
“Because why?” You innocently batted your clumped eyelashes at him.
“Because being well- what I am- means certain things happen. Certain things that I can’t control mind you and um-” Jun tried to stall you, but you weren’t having any of it.
“Just spit it out Jun,” You stated, wanting to get this whole weird night over with and behind you as soon as possible so you could take a much needed nap.
But you just knew you couldn’t do that without knowing what was going on fully first.
“We… we do this- this thing,” He started, causing you to give him an agitated look to prod him to hurry and get on with it.
Jun gave you a small sigh and beckoned you to come closer, something that you did without a second thought for some reason, and took you by your delicate hands, “Werewolves do this thing called imprinting _____. Imprinting is a lot like what humans would think of as love. It’s just like… a hundred times stronger.” He smiled goofily while looking at your tiny fingers and drawing small shapes on them with his thumbs.
You found yourself actually really liking the way he was touching you and even began to wonder what it might be like for him to do it everyday. His hands were so warm and his lingering touches felt so inviting and tender that you never wanted the close proximity you found yourself in with him to end.
“We do this when we find our mate. A mate is- well it’s sort of like a soulmate. It’s an immediate connection. We feel this with only one person in the whole world and, like I said earlier, it’s not something we can control…” He licked his soft yet intimidating looking pink lips before he continued.
The action started making you think about whether his lips would feel just as pillowy as they looked. In different circumstances, you might've been so bold as to initiate such an intimate moment with the tall boy in front of you. But as you wanted to know what was really going on, you did your best to ignore the burning feeling resonating in your cheeks and focus on his words.
“It happens as soon as we meet them. It’s like a lightening strike in your heart that just allows you to know, they’re the one. And, while the feeling isn’t nearly as strong for them as it is for us, they do still feel feelings back to match ours.”
It was at this point that he began actually looking you in the eyes with his amber orbs. And you thought that if he hadn’t been holding you in place with your hands that you might have quite literally melted right then and there from the sheer intensity you felt radiating through the air.
“We’d do anything for them. We’d be anything for them. We know when they’re in danger and if they need us. They’re like a breath of fresh air after having nearly drowned out at sea.” He poetically spoke.
You wanted to look away. You wanted to push back and slap his face for getting so close to you without your given permission. But you just couldn’t pull away from his loving gaze.
“We can’t live without them and, even if we could, we’d never want to because to us, they’re the only thing in this world that matters. From the second we meet them till our very last breath, the only thing that matters to us is their safety and happiness.”
You finally managed to snap yourself out of the trance he had placed you in in order to speak, “But Jun, why are you telling me this stuff?” You all but whimpered as his gentle grip on your hands stalled and he brought his hands to cup your face.
“Because for me… you’re that person. You’re my mate _____. That’s the reason you’re not scared of me. Because deep down, your heart knows I could never hurt you.” He finished with a twinkle in his eye and with his thumbs rubbing the contours of your cheeks.
“I- I didn’t want you to find out like this, and I never meant to leave you high and dry like that when we met. I was just too shocked and couldn’t explain it all to you then without making things worse. But the cat’s-or i guess the wolf’s- kind of out of the bag now.” He attempted to joke before you found yourself leaning in and pulling his lips to yours, an action that shocked him.
Hell, it shocked you. You weren’t sure why you wanted to kiss him. It just made sense in your head. You felt like kissing him. You wanted to kiss him. It felt like you’d die if you didn’t. What he told you made sense in theory and therefore you brain ran with it and already seemed to believe it with it’s whole being. It felt like it just all connected.
That’s why he ran away from you, he was too shy and freaked out. That’s why he saved you, he couldn’t let anything happen to you. And that’s why you cared so much about him even though his actions upset you, part of you already had strong feelings for him.
Had Junhui been expecting you to kiss him? No. Was he complaining? Hell No. But as much as he wanted to kiss you long enough to lose his breath, he wanted to be sure you knew that you didn’t have to be with him if you didn’t want to be. That it was your choice in his mind, not fate’s. So even though he felt like his lips could just stay on your perfect one’s forever, he had to explain further.
He reluctantly pulled away from your loving grasp and softly leaned his forehead on yours, “Just- just because I imprinted on you doesn’t mean you have to be with me you know. You can always deny it. It wouldn’t hurt you and-”
“Why on earth would i do that?” You smirked at him as you played with the hair on the back of his head while simultaneously bringing a delicate hand around to the front of his face to examine his war wounds.
His skin seemed to shimmer at the oddly coupley small behavior you were showing him, “I-I just figured you’d need some time to sort everything out and decide is s’all…” Jun explained did his best to focus his words so that you could take him seriously.
You bit your lip before answering, “You know what? I’d normally think that would be true, but seeing as you literally risked your life for me earlier to save me, I don’t think I’d mind being stuck with you forever. But it has been a weird few days and i may still be in shock a little, so bare with me for a while alright?” You mewled to him with a sweet smile, something that made his heart swoon.
You saw him happily grinned from ear to ear right before he closed the space in between you both while getting up from his seat and spinning you around.
It was then that you started to squeal with glee and put your hands on either side of his jaw to connect your lips with a sealing embrace.
As much as Junhui loved your newly found affection for him, he couldn’t help but wince at the sudden impact of your perfectly cherry lips meeting his bitterly cracked ones. You quickly took notice of his behavior change and pecked his nose once and tapping his shoulder signaling him to put you back down on the ground.
“Alright now that that’s all settled,” you windily let out with your fists on your hips, “Where the hell do you guys keep your first aid kit? You’ve got some injuries that need attended to!”

"Loki have you seen y/n, she was suppose to be back by now." Tony asked walking into the living room where Loki was reading.
"I think I remember her saying she was going to spend the day out with 'some nonsuperheros' today." He stated turning the page.
"And she just left unattended? Shes suppose to at least check in or take someone with her." He sighed.
"She asked if I wanted to join her." He turned another page.
"And you didnt go?" Tony started to sound annoyed.
"Oh gods no, last place I wanna be is with a group of gossiping girls... Or the mall. Tony, she is a very well trained assassin. She is more than capable of taking care of her self." He saod closing the book and facing Tony. "Besides everyone else gets to come and go as they please why not her?"
"I'll just call Parker, I'm sure he wont mind dropping in on her." He walked out, Loki roled his eyes and went back to his book. Loki looked down to his phone that started ringing.
"Look, thats her now." He answered picking up on the third ring. "Hello my love."
"We have your precious love." The male voice said over the phone.
"Oh, thats a shity piece of news." Loki responded.
"Whys that god of lies and mischief? Dont know what to do wothout your darling fiancé? Its about to get worst for you and your precious Avenger friends if you dont meet my demands." Loki could just imagine the shit eatting grin on this creeps face. By this time he had put the phone on speaker so that Tony could here what was going on.
"No, no. I'm not very worried about her. You on the other hand, she can get quite rough in hand to hand. Take up for her self, you know the whole spill. But I will warn you now, if one single hairnis out of place on that head of hers I will remove your head from your shoulders... With my bare hands." His voice held a darker tone to it, more threatening, more sinister. Tony was going crazy, trying to pull up locations to were the vehicle was heading and what it looked like. He was glad that he had made you take one of the Stark phones now no matter how much you had fought him on it.
"Ahhh, so now your the one thats threatening someone? See that-" The other end of the line suddenly went quiet except for the few grunts and sounds of fist hitting skin, Loki turned rasing an eyebrow at Tony as if saying I told you so.
"Loki?" Your voice came over the phone. Tony sighed in relief.
"Yes my pet?" Loki answered you. Tony flopped down on the couch trying to catch his breath.
"I just wanted one day." You sighed, he heard you opening the back door to the vehicle you were in.
"I know, love." He responded walking to yours and his shared room so that he could get you a bath ready.
"One day to not be a superhero, one day to just be a normal girl spending a normal day out with normal friends."
"Y/n, you know better than anyone thats to good to be true. We dont get to live the happily ever after like most people do." His voice soothing over the phone.
"It wouldn't hurt to be normal though with a normal life. For Christ sakes, I just took out three men, I am a deadly weapon, I even have a boyfriend that shoots green magic from his hands." You chuckled.
"Ouch, darling, you wound me." He laughed. "I do alot more than just shoot green magic from my hands. Im amazing with my daggars, I am the god of mischief and lies. And not to mention my style is absolutly amazing."
"Loki, you know what I mean." You answered hanging up as you entered the compound. You looked into the living room where Tony was still sitting, he gave you a thumbs up before shooing you away.
"These kids, all these kids are going to be the death of me." He sighed to no one rubbing the bridge of his nose.
You walked into your room kicking off your shows and following the sound of running water. "And I do stuff like this. Tell me pet, would a midguardian boy do this for you?"
Loki was sitting in the tube with candles around and just enough bubbles, you couldnt help but stare at the sight in front of you before twking off the remainder of your clothes.
"Yeah they would but indont think they would look half as amazing as you do." You said slipping intonthe warn water and letting him massage your shoulders.
"We're not normal by any means y/n. Thats something that you will have to learn to accept like it or not. But think about it this way, if you had gotten lucky enough to be normal we would have never met, you wouldn't be living in this amazing place, you wouldn't have friends like Nat or Clint, but most impotantly you wouldn't be saving people. Midgurad needs you as well as the others, its not school book normal but it is our normal. Living with two geniuses, one that turns green, two gods, super soldiers, assassins, an archer. I wouldnt have it any other way honestly." He said pulling you closer to him.
"I thought you hated it here." You laughed turning back to face him. You met his emerald green eyes that seemed to look into your soul.
"You made me learn to love it here, just don't tell the others." He laughed leaning in and kissing you.

Sun Touched Zuko AU!!
Tag list @chaoticidiott @mypureessence @fae-tales-personal
This won't be a soulmate AU but it will be Zukka for sure.
Zuko was born sick, so sick in fact that he was going to die. His mother prayed to Agni that he would live, prayed that the sun spirit would save her first born son. In the gardens she held him up to the Setting sun pleading. The suns rays caught in the amber stone on top of the alter set for worship and moved to Zuko's eyes. His hair changed from solid black to a golden blonde, he opened eyes and began to cry. He was touched by the Sun and lived.
Ursa couldnt have been more happy, her son was alive. "My little sunshine" she whispered with tears rolling down her cheeks as she held him close and rocked him in her arms.
When Ozai saw his son's golden hair he demanded that it be dyed black, but was willing to compromise when Ursa suggested they wait until he turns 5 so that the dyes don't harm him.
The first time they dyed his hair he asked his mom why, his bright molten eyes looking at her with confusion "because your father wants you to feel safer my sunshine, people will stare at you with that bright shining hair of yours"
"Oh, okay" was his only response that day. He never questioned it anymore when they touched up his roots weekly.
After his mother left him he felt alone in the world, his dad still staining his golden hair each week with more and more ink. All the while berating him when he couldnt control his fire well. Even with being touched by the spirit and having powerful fire he couldnt manage to control it, couldnt understand how to. Until master Piandou taught him swords and he applied his teachings to his fire.
The first time he used his swords to control the fire Piandou was more than impressed "Prince Zuko! That was amazing!"
"Thank you Master, thinking of the swords as an extension helped me control the flames better" his smile soon faded when his father appeared
"Yes, great work Zuko, I am pleased to see you have learned how to control your flames, however mixing these arts in this fashion is unacceptable. Come with me"
After that he wasn't allowed back at Piandou's unless he was accompanied by either his father, or an advisor to make sure he practiced correctly.
On the day of his fated Agni Kai Zuko had just gotten his roots retouched before entering the war meeting. When his father burnt him for speaking out of term his tears felt like lava running down his cheeks. He could smell the fresh dye burning and it hurt his lungs.
His Uncle immediately took him under his wing when he was banished "Zuko, my star," his Uncle pleaded when they were at the western airtemple "i need to dress your wound, the sun spirit would not want you to lose your eye"
Zuko reluctantly let his Uncle clean and dress his wound several times on their travels until it healed and scarred over. When it finally healed over Iroh smiled "there you go sunshine" he said as he wiped the tears forming in Zuko's good eye away "do not cry Prince Zuko, you are safe"
He still dyed his roots every week to uphold his place as prince. He did not know that his golden hair was his own symbol or royalty, that the sun chose him. Sure he knew the sun saved him, but he could not understand that it was because he was chosen.
When he arrived at the South pole and discovered the Avatar, he felt a breath of relief wash over him. He was going home, but he heavily underestimated the Avatar's abilities and lost him.
Soon he started a cat and mouse game with the monk and his two southern water tribe friends. After the northpole he slacked on dying his hair, not because he didnt want to, he simply didn't have the resources to do so. So his roots started to grow in gold.
"Well your looking golden Zuzu" Azula's voice startled Zuko when he walked into the hut they were staying in.
"Azula, what are you doing here" he glared at his younger sister
"You know, im my country. We greet one another before asking questions" she responded coldly "i was just passing through"
"To what do we owe the pleasure of your visit Princess Azula?" Iroh piped into the conversation
"No wonder you two click, always so quick and to the point. Father sent me, family is suddenly very important to him." She turned her head to look out the window "father regrets your banishment. He wants you home"
Zuko was frozen in place "father regrets?"
"I can see you need time to think this through, ill be by to collect you in the morning" Azula smiled softly before a flash of worry flashed on her face for a split second as she walked out the door.
When Azula's true intentions were revealed Zuko and Iroh managed to flee from her and her soldiers. When they stopped at the river to cut their hair Zuko looked at Iroh when he watched the inky hair fall into the river "your gold hair will conceal your identity fairly well my nephew"
"Yeah, it'll hide me pretty well" nobody had seen Zuko with his golden hair before. He hadnt seen his hair fully gold since age five.
On their travels his hair grew fairly fast now that it wasnt being dyed so often. It would catch the eye of several earth kindom citizens when he passed through towns. When he and Iroh were sitting against a building with a hat in front of them a young woman approached them and slipped a few gold pieces in "I know this might sound creepy, and I'm only asking this because I cannot resist. But may I kiss your hair sir? You can say no, I won't take my money back."
Zuko flushed a light shade of pink and scratched the back of his head "uhm, s-sure?" He mumbled out and leaned his head towards her. She placed a tender almost motherly kiss to the top of his head.
"Oh, your hair is so beautiful sir, it's like a million rays of sun. I wish you luck, i can only spare a little but if you'd take these small meals Im sure they'd help you" she said while offering two wrapped meals
They accepted and thanked her with small bows "what a nice young lady, huh?" Iroh said and nudged Zuko's arm
"Yeah, she was very nice"
When Zuko and Iroh found Azula and Aang battling in an abandoned earth town Azula pointed out his hair "wow Zuzu! You look just like a star! Where'd all that ink go?" When the fight ended and Iroh was injured Zukos cheeks felt like magma was pouring from his eyes.
"Zuko, I can hel-" Katara approached them
"LEAVE!" Zuko cried out, turning to Katara with golden tears running down his face.
While on the Ferry to Ba Sing Se Zuko was angry, not angry at anyone or anything in particular, he was just angry. "Hey" the voice of a man at his right side broke his brooding "names Jet"
"Lee" Zuko muttered out how cover name
"Yknow Lee, I hear the captain is eating like a king while we're stuck eating all his left overs" he paused "want to help me... liberate some food rations?"
It didn't take much to convince Zuko to join him. They liberated the food quickly without getting caught. Zuko found himself wandering the the front of the lower deck, leaning on the railing. "You know, as soon as I saw your scar, I knew exactly who you were" he paused as he approached Zuko "youre a refugee, like me. Thing is though, I've never seen hair like yours, let along your eyes."
Jet reached out and brushed Zuko's hair out of his face. "The freedom fighters could use a starlight like you, what do you say?"
Zuko smacked Jets hand away gently "thanks, but no thanks, you don't want me on your team, trust me"
In Ba Sing Se Iroh and Zuko made a life for themselves. They managed to have their own tea shop and apartment. Things were doing great, until Zuko went after the Avatar's bison, mind you he went there originally to take the bison captive, but when he saw that the creature was hurt he sheathed his swords and removed his mask, letting his golden hair free as he approached the bison "hey buddy, are you okay?" His voice was much softer than usual "oh no, here let me help you, this is going to hurt and I'm sorry, but I need to pull out this thorn" he talked to him the whole time he was pulling out thorns, gently rubbing the fur near it to sooth him.
When he pulled all of the thorns out he took out his swords "alright buddy, dont worry about the swords, im going to use them to cut you out of these chains, shhh its okay, you're okay" he continued to talk him through each of the six shackles "there we go big guy, now you need to get out of here, go find your friends- ah! Hey!" Appa knocked him over and gave him a thanks with a big sloppy dog like lick across his torso and face before taking off.
"You did well my nephew" Zuko shot up at his uncle's voice
"Uncle?" His startled voice wavered
"Now lets get you out of here and back home." And that they did.
When they made it back to their apartment Zuko felt dizzy, he held his head in his hand "I dont feel good" he managed to get out before collapsing and breaking a vase
"Zuko!" Iroh shouted as he rushed to his nephew to make sure he didnt hurt himself on any broken glass.
In his Angst coma Sokka heard his mother singing
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me Happy! When skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you, so please don't hide my sunshine away"
His sisters voice mocked his hair "youre hair makes you look like a dandelion, a weed can't take the throne!" Her cackling filled his ears.
There was a blinding light and a woman appeared with flowing gold hair and bright fire eyes "my dear star, why do you let yourself hurt so much?"
"I don't, who are you?"
"I'm Agni my dear, you do know I chose you right?"
"Why?"
"You are special my dear, your mother made sure to get my attention and I am so glad she did" the woman spoke as she placed her hand on his cheek. Filling him with the image of her reaching out to kiss his eyes as a baby. "You are meant for great things little star." Her voice faded as she herself did
He soon woke from his coma with a fresh breath. Taking charge in making sure his Uncle's tea shop did well, and helping him where he could. However Azula soon found them and summoned them to the palace under the guise of serving tea to the king. Things didnt end well and Zuko was thrown into a cave beneath the City with Katara.
"Why would they throw you in here!" Her angry and hurt voice filled his ears as he tried not to make her feel more uncomfortable by staying as far from her as possible.
when she mentioned her mother he turned around and spoke "thats something we have in common"
"What?"
"My mother was my only source of safety... she was the only one who defended me against my sister and my father. And one day my father was ordered to... do something terrible and my mother protected me somehow, I dont know what happened but when I was half awake she told me goodbye and when I fully woke up she was gone."
When they were separated and Azula had Iroh trapped she approached "Zuko, nows your chance to come home. Help me defeat the avatar and you can come home. Without inking your hair. Isnt this what you've always wanted? You'll have your honor back, you'll have fathers love back"
And despite all he had gone through he still chose the path of returning to his father. When he did return his father wanted to dye his hair but Azula spoke up against it "father, if I may. Zuko's hair is a symbol of the fire goddess Agni, if he were to take the thrown it'd be best to show that she has chosen him"
"Yes, that is true. Alright, off with you two"
Reuniting with Mai wasnt smooth, she confessed to him that her and Ty Lee connected and while he was saddened he just smiled "I'm glad you two are with eachother, you work well"
On the day of Black sun, with the information he had learned from Iroh and armed with the fact that his father was practically powerless without his bending. He approached him.
"Zuko, what are you doing here?"
"Im here to tell the truth"
Ozai let out a snort "telling the truth during an eclipse?" He waved off his gaurds "what do you have to say"
"First of all, Azula lied to you, she was the one who shot down the avatar"
"What?! Why would she lie about that?"
"Because the avatars not dead, he's probably leading this invasion right now"
"Get out! Get out if you know what's good for you!"
"Thats another thing, I'm not taking orders from you anymore"
"You will obey me or face the consequences!" As Ozai stood Zuko drew his dual swords and took a stance
"Think again. I am going to speak my mind and you are going to listen"
He went on to question his father "you knew Agni chose me as a child and that was the reason my hair turned gold. You knew this and yet you hid that from the world, you darkened my hair for years, and you have the gull to tell me I was lucky to be born. You! The tyrannical leader set out to destroy the world. you! My own father challenged me to an Agni Kai just for speaking out of term, how could you possibly justify a duel with a child!"
"It was to teach you respect!"
"It was cruel and it was wrong"
"Then you have learned nothing!"
"No! I've learned everything, and I've had to do most of it on my own" he paused "Growing up we were taught that the war was our nations way of spread joy, what an incredible lie that was, the other nations don't love us, they fear us, and they are right to fear us, we've brought the world to an era of hate and suffering, now we need to fill it with one of peace and joy"
"Your uncle has gotten to you hasnt he" Ozai laughed
"Yes, he has, and I've come to another decision, im going to join the avatar, and im going to help him take you down."
After announcing this he turned to leave but stayed to learn about what happened to his mother
"She's alive?" He said in a soft voice as a single golden tear rolled down his cheek
"Perhaps," Ozai paused "now i see that banishment is far too small of a punishment for treason" he said as he gathered lightning and shot it at Zuko who quickly redirected it right back at him before escaping.
After finding that Iroh had broken out of prison Zuko fled the firenation in a small war ballon and followed the Avatar's Sky bison to the western air temples. Their first encounter didn't go so well and he managed to burn Toph's feet but after helping them defeat the assassin and managing to form his words more properly and giving a genuine apology to Toph he was on the team.
Some time after joining and managing to break Sokka's dad, Suki and Chit Sang out of prison they were all sitting around the fire. "So.. uhm Zuko" Aang started
Zuko turned to look at him "yeah?"
"I have to ask, pretty bunch nobody in the firenation has golden blonde hair right?" Zuko absentmindedly ran his fingers through his hair at the question
"Yeah, and when you were first chasing us your hair was black, whats up with that?" Sokka added
"Oh, uh, well my hair was always dyed black because my father doesn't like my gold hair..." he paused "when I was born, I was sick, so sick that my parents thought I was going to die. But my mother pleaded with Agni to spare me, she took me to the sun worship alter in the palace gardens at sunset and held me up, pleading. When the last ray of light from Agni, my hair turned golden and I began to cry. So, in a sense the sun gave me my life"
"Like Yue!" Sokka piped up
"Like who?"
"Princess Yue! She was born sick just like you, and the moon spirit saved her. Well, she's the moon spirit now"
"Woah woah wait, is this the girlfriend you said turned into the moon?"
"Yep!"
"Well, just don't go falling for Zuko now, dont want to have your first boyfriend turn into the sun" Suki teased him
"Hey, at least I'd have a full set of spirit lovers"
Zuko's face turned beet red and the group laughed at him. Over the next few weeks of them being in close quarters Zuko found that he was growing feelings for the water tribe boy. Anytime he'd look at him he felt his stomach do a flip. But he didnt have time to think about his feelings.
Even though the sun touched prince tried not to think about Sokka on the mission with Katara, he couldn't help it. When they were returning Katara piped up "I know you like him" she paused to watch his surprised face "its okay you know, its fine if you like him. I dont have like you to let my brother like you. I may be cold to you but im not a monster like your father" she tied off the sentence by staring off "and besides, if Agni chose you, I think you would be safe for Sokka"
When they got back he heard sokka shout "You're back! Thank La youre safe!" Turning to Katara he expected to see Sokka running to hug his sister. Instead he was tackled to the ground with a hug from Sokka "how did it go Katara?" He asked from the ground while quite literally snuggling into Zuko with this hug that was still very much happening.
"I found him, and he was just so pathetic, i couldnt kill him"
Sokka then stood up and helped Zuko to his feet and placed a quick sneaky kiss to his cheek before moving to hug his sister, leaving Zuko frozen in confusion. He remained frozen until Suki came up to him "he's trying to confess silently, he's weird like that, corner him later if you want to hear an actual confession"
He however didn't manage to corner the now seemingly overly flirty blue boy until they were at ember Island. It wasnt until just before bed when Sokka was walking past Zuko's bedroom door. He reached out grabbed Sokka's shirt and yanked him into the room before slamming the door shut and pinning him to it. "What are you doing?"
"Wh-what do you mean? You're the one who dragged me into your room, what are you doing?"
"Dont play dumb with me Sokka, you've been flirting with me since I got back from my trip with your sist-"
"Actually ive been flirting with you since the temples, you just didn't notice until I kissed you"
"You mean until you missed"
"What?"
Zuko smirked "you missed" he mumbled before leaning closer "you went for a kiss but you missed"
They ended up spending the night sharing a room and a bed. When the morning sun peaked through the windows Zuko curled back into sokka who in turn pulled him closer. Both refusing to wake up until Katara knocked on the door and opened it "breakfast is ready, if you two love birds want some warm food you better hury and I better not see any hickeys"
"Ugh! Katara we just cuddled!" Sokka said as he burried his face in Zuko's hair.
Katara simply laughed "alright, but still, hury up."
When the day of the comet came and Zuko had to separate from Sokka he saw the worry in his blue eyes "Ive got this Sokka, Agnj chose me remembe, besides, I've got Katara with me and she's powerful" he placed a quick kiss to Sokka's lips "go take down those ships, and I'll see you by the timd the sun rises tomorrow."
And he was right, even though he was shot with lightning and Sokka broke his leg they both came out of the battle alive and together. When Zuko woke up to find Sokka curled up against him he smiled and let out a soft breath of pink fire. Relief.
"Woah, do that again" Sokka's groggy 'just woke up' voice rumbled against his shoulder
"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you, do you mean this?" He let out another breath of fire, this time a pale purple
"I didn't know you could do other colors of fire"
"Well, I couldn't until I went to the sunwarriors, Agni spoke to me there"
After Zuko's Coronation the firenation began righting their wrongs. It was a long struggle for sure. However two years into his reign with Sokka having practically moved in he found that he would soon have a partner to help him through these struggles.
The day had only just begun but Sokka was dragging Zuko to the turtleduck pond where they often sat together to simply relax. Sokka seemed a little antsy this time though "what's wrong Sokka?"
"Uhm, well, I have something I need to ask you," he paused and reached into his pocket while sinkning down to one knee. Zuko's breath caught in his throat as he saw Sokka pull out a betrothal becklace, the band was made with a fine red silk and the center piece was gold with a carving of a sun with a wave inside of it. "Zuko," he took a shaky breath "you've been by my side for two years now, you've held my hand through war and peace, quite literally, and you've done so while loving me whole heartedly. I can't imagine my life without you in it." Zuko could feel golden tears threatening to fall fram his molten eyes "Zuko, will you marry me?"
"Yes!" He heard himself responding before he could even think "Agni, yes Sokka, of course I'll marry you!"
Sokka moved from his kneeling position to lifting Zuko up into a kiss, holding him right under his rear. Zuko held his face in his hands as he pressed his lips to Sokka's as he was lifted up quite unceremoniously.
Once he was set down Sokka helped him put on the betrothal necklace. He reached up to touch the Golden pendant and smiled up at Sokka with gold tears falling down his cheeks.
Their marraige was held not long after, joining the southern water tribe and the firenation in a strong Union with a mixed culture wedding blues, silvers, reds and golds filled the wedding and reception as well as suns and moons.
Agni smiled down on the wedding that day, her chosen sunshine found his moon.
Yue smiled on them that night as they stood on the balcony holding one another. The boy who protected her finally found his light.
>Woo boy that was a long one! I sure hope you enjoyed it!<

The battle ended quickly when all the villains fled from endevor. Well execpt aizawa, who was about to beat him with his new quirk. Movement. I know it sounds weird but heres what it means: Aizawa can basically pull an uravity sorta thing by making things weightless and rarely float. But he can also move things really easily. For example, Endevor's now broken leg. He just has to imaigne touching or grabbing it.
"GOD DAMN IT MY LEG!"
"aw is the pro hero hurt?~ Does the hero have a boo boo?"~
"COVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH" came a voice from behind. Endevor shut his eyes, mouth, and nose. Aizawa on the other hand was about to stab endevor until...
Tumblr media
Aizawa was out like a light. The smoke cleared quickly and when it did Endevor made his escape. The other heros came back from chasing the villains with not a single one of them captured. They all saw endevor hurt and called some medics to the seen. Mic stood above aizawa, trying to keep it together. This is what his husband had come to. But it wasnt Aizawa's fault, it was his. At least in his mind it was. Nezu finished talking to the police and the police but some sort of choker on him that was clearly a little tight on his neck. They cuffed him and drove off with him. "Wait nezu! Their not gonna take him to jail...are they?"
"No present mic. They found some pills that aizawa dropped called memory pills. They've never seen pills like it before so their taking it for testing. As for aizawa, they have left him in our custody until they find what the pills are for and get the paperwork done. They're taking him to UA where they will keep him in solatarity confindment until we get there."
Mic sighed a sigh of relief. Now they had to figure out what was going on. Mic rushed to UA, where aizawa was being healed by recovery girl. He was awake. Struggling out of the cuffs that held him. These werent regualar cuffs. These cuffs were made of tungstun. Made for the biggest and baddest of villains. And the choker was a quirk remover, which would take away his quirk until he got the cuffs off with a special key.
"Please sit down aizawa! If I could just heal your wounds-"
"Shut up grandma! My gang will be here and we'll put you in the grave early so just sit tight! I'll get these cuffs off."
"Dear thats not very nice. But since this isnt your fault I wont hit you." RG looked up, "Mic! Would you please be a dear and talk to him?"
Mic let his hair down, already knowing this wouldnt be easy. "Yeah I'll give it a go. Mic took off his jacket, left with only his white shirt and tight black jeans. He walked in front of aizawa and squatted down to match his eyes. Their eyes met and the villian stopped struggling. Why did he stop?! He didnt want to stop? Was this his quirk?
"Hey sho, you probably dont remember me but Im your best friend. I just need you to stay still okay? I promise Recovery Girl is nice and will help you." Mic reached out his hand to touch aizawa's check. Aizawa flinched. This hero's voice is so soothing, and his eyes. I feel like I can stare into his eyes forever...Wait what am I thinking?! Hes a hero! Hes the reason that I....wait where are they?
"Where are my pills? Where are they! I need to take them everyday!"
"Your pills are just gone temporarily. You'll get them back. But can you please stay still?"
Aizawa looked at Recovery Girl, who was holding a glass of water and a few pills. She had another table that had at least 2 needles filled with some liquids. That didnt seem trust worthy at all. Then he realized her size and age. She didnt seem too dangerous.
"Okay....I'll stay still. But just know I could still kill you both!" Aizawa took the pills and even though he flinched a bit when the needles got close, he took the shots too. Things were going smoothly. But for how long?

mind trap one shot :^)
heyo here's a little bit of mind trap angst just because im bored idk
honestly theres almost no context to this, basically i just wanted him to be controlled by the mind trap lol. the reason he can be controlled is that as a member of the royal bloodline of the dark kingdom hes automatically sworn to the moonstone (tbh i didnt put a lot of thought into it but neither did the writers when they wrote the mind trap so its fine lol)
(ps im gonna be real with you guys i dont really know the difference between a drabble, a ficlet, and a oneshot. i was gonna call this a ficlet but i was scared of being wrong so i figured oneshot is the safest option)
word count: 1873
characters: eugene & rapunzel
description: Eugene gets taken over by the Mind Trap. Rapunzel needs to find a way to get him back before it’s too late.
note: this takes place sometime during plus est en vous. theyre in the throne room alone. idk just dont think about it too hard
Everything seemed to stop for a moment. Rapunzel felt like her body was frozen in place as Eugene turned around, his eyes glowing electric blue.
“Eugene?” she whispered hesitantly as he stepped closer. Something in her brain was telling her to back away, but it was like her feet were frozen to the ground. He took another step closer and drew his sword.
She released her hair from her braid and held it up just in time to block his sword from hitting her. He glared at her wordlessly and went to swing again, which she once again blocked.
“Eugene, I- I don’t know what to- you- how…” she stuttered helplessly as she started to stumble backwards. His gaze didn’t change at all.
“Tell you what,” he said finally, crossing his arms. “If you give up now, I’ll give you a quick and painless death.”
She felt her eyes fill with tears as she shook her head. “I won’t give up, you know that.”
He smirked. “I know, but it was worth a shot.”
This made her feel even worse. She couldn’t even tell herself that he didn’t know her or didn’t recognize her. Now she knew that he still remembered her even as he was attacking her.
Maybe that means there’s a chance to get through to him, she thought, but quickly shoved it away. She didn’t want to bother getting her hopes up like that while he was still trying to hurt her.
She didn’t really know anything about the Mind Trap or how to free someone from it. Heck, she didn’t even know why Eugene was being controlled by it, but she didn’t exactly have the opportunity to figure that out right now.
She dodged another attack from him and backed away to put distance in between the two of them, trying to think of some semblance of a plan. She couldn’t keep blocking and dodging him forever, but there was no way she could let herself even try to hurt him. The Mind Trap was still all the way in Cassandra’s tower, and she wasn’t sure if she would even be able to get out of the castle, let alone all the way to the tower.
“Aw, Sunshine, I’m almost disappointed,” he sneered. The nickname that she normally loved now felt like a punch in the gut as he said it. “I’ve seen you do better than this. I mean, come on, you’ve hit me with your frying pan more times normally than you are now.” She didn’t respond as she brought up her hair to block yet another one of his hits.
Even if she did fight back, there was no way she could win. She assumed they might be evenly matched ordinarily, but ordinarily he wasn’t fighting to kill.
Thinking about that made her feel almost nauseous. The person she loved more than anything else was now trying to kill her (or at least being used as a vessel to kill her).
“One of us is going to have to stop eventually,” he remarked. His voice had the cadence of a joke, but his expression said otherwise.
“And I’ve never been one to give up,” Rapunzel retorted.
“I know. I think under normal circumstances I would like that about you. Right now, though, it’s already getting to be a pain.”
It felt like her heart had been torn out of her chest the more he said things like that. It felt like he was already killing her knowing that something in him recognized her right now and still chose to attack. Not chose, she reminded herself. He has no control over this.
Looking into his glowing blue eyes, she thought about the way they usually were. His warm brown eyes and his soft expressions seemed like a distant memory compared to what was staring back at her now.
Just moments ago she had kissed him, and somewhere in the back of her mind wondered if that had been the last time she ever would. “No,” she whispered aloud. That wouldn’t be the last, she could fix this.
She just needed a plan. The Mind Trap reacted to the Moonstone, and she had the power of the Sundrop, there had to be something she could do. Worth a shot.
Her eyes fell shut as she channeled the Sundrop’s power. There was a burst of light around her as her hair lit up, causing a wave of energy.
She opened her eyes to see Eugene had been knocked to the floor. She wanted to run to him, but opted to keep her distance. She watched as he sat up and rubbed his head, his eyes closed.
And she felt her heart sink as he opened them and they were still just as blue as before.
“Nice to see you’re finally on the attack, Blondie,” he mocked. “Too bad it wasn’t enough.”
He lifted himself back onto his feet and scowled. She wished this would all stop. She wished everything could just go back to normal. She wanted so badly to hold out hope, but she was out of ideas.
“I’m not going to fight you,” she insisted, trying to ignore the way tears were starting to spill out of her eyes. She met his intense stare with one of her own as he moved towards her.
“I can’t say I’m surprised, Sunshine,” he grinned coolly. Again, the usually affectionate nickname made her stomach churn as her tears continued to stream down her face. He stood inches away from her, neither of them moving. It was taking everything to keep herself from running towards him, looking for comfort that she wouldn’t find.
As he tightened his grip on his sword once more, she reached for her hair only to find out that he was pressing his foot on it, keeping it in place. He smirked at her. “You lost your defense,” he taunted callously. She tried to tug her hair away, but he was keeping a firm hold on it.
“Eugene…” she said quietly. Everything felt numb as she imagined him as the man he really was instead of the one who was about to kill her. The man who was always there for her no matter what happened. The man who had saved her in more ways than anyone could understand. That man wasn’t the person standing over her right now, lifting his sword above his head to strike.
“Eugene,” she said again, louder this time. “I don’t know if the real you can hear me, but I just need you to know that I know this isn’t you. And I love you so much.”
She thought for a moment that she saw him falter, but gave up her wishful thinking as the sword came closer to her. She squeezed her eyes shut as the love of her life was about to end it.
Nothing happened.
For a split second, she wondered why she was never hit.
Then she heard him cry out in pain.
Her eyes shot open to see that he was crumpled on the ground, his own sword stabbed through his leg. He pulled the sword out and threw it across the room.
“Eugene!” she yelled, dropping to her knees next to him. She looked at his face and was beyond relieved to be met with brown eyes looking back at her affectionately. “Eugene, you’re… you’re back,” she sighed happily, getting lost in his eyes and forgetting for a moment about his leg that was still bleeding out.
He tried to smile back at her, but it ended up as more of a grimace in pain, bringing both of them back into reality. “I just- I couldn’t let myself hurt you,” he said, holding back tears. “I’m so sorry.”
She wiped away her own tears and nodded. “I know, I know. It’s okay,” she reassured him, turning her attention back to his leg. He took his jacket off and wrapped it around the wound to try to stop the bleeding. She helped secure it in place and applied pressure on the wound, and he let out a groan as he instinctively tried to move away. She gave him an apologetic look, but continued pressing her hand down on his leg.
“Hey, look at me, it’s gonna be okay,” she soothed, putting her other hand on his cheek. She tried as hard as she could to distract him from the pain. He grabbed her hand and smiled gently.
“I’m so sorry, Sunshine, I couldn’t-”
“It’s okay, I understand. It was the Mind Trap, I know,” she whispered, though she felt a rush of relief in her chest after hearing him say “Sunshine” in a loving way again.
“I don’t know what happened, I just… I suddenly didn’t have control of my body. It was like I was feeling myself move and hearing myself talk and I couldn’t do anything about it. I kept trying to fight it, but…” he trailed off, his eyes starting to fill.
“Don’t worry about it, just focus on me, it’s gonna be okay,” she said as his entire body shuddered from another wave of pain.
“Rapunzel, you have to go,” he urged suddenly. “I don’t know how long I’ll be able to hold the Mind Trap off for.”
She looked deeply into his eyes, doing her best to stay strong and help him. It was taking all her effort not to break down right then, and she finally gave in. Before she could even think to try to stop herself, she was sobbing into Eugene’s shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her. “I won’t leave you,” she choked out. He squeezed her tighter towards him, his leg now numb to the pain.
“I can’t watch myself hurt you, Sunshine,” he said brokenly as he started to cry too. “It’ll be okay soon, I promise.”
Rapunzel lifted herself up and wiped her tears away. “It’ll be okay,” she repeated through tears. “I’m going to destroy the Mind Trap, then I’ll come right back here.”
He gave her a weak smile, then brought her closer to him again to kiss her. She closed her eyes as she kissed him, hoping that she would be able to keep her word and destroy it. Not just for Eugene, but for everyone. For the members of the Brotherhood that had lost control over their own thoughts. For the others that had loved ones being taken over.
She moved away slightly as she felt Eugene shift in her grasp. She opened her eyes, and her heart shattered as she was once again met with his glowing electric blue eyes. She stood up and backed away from him.
He made an effort to stand up and go after her, but his wounded leg wasn’t doing him any good. Not to mention, even if he could get up, his weapon was still on the other side of the room. He yelled at Rapunzel as she started to run away, but she did her best to tune out what she was saying. She only had one goal in mind now.
“I’ll be back,” she promised quietly, rubbing her eyes as she ran out of the castle. “It’s gonna be okay.”

Can you do prompt 97.“Shh, you’re safe. I won’t let you go.” . Maybe where Lonnie is being very violent with Joyce and hopper walks in and saves her.
I'll try, anon. I've always avoided writing something like this up until now, because I worried I might not be able to picture it with the right emotions or details. I've luckily never experienced any violence and I'm totally against it, so this is purely and entirely fictional, just like all my other writings. I've still tried to express the angst and everything! Hope you like it. 😊 Plus, Jim's perspective plays a role here, so that's a little different too. Enjoy!
Warning: mentions (detailed) physical/domestic violence. Don't read if that's not for you! 💥💥💥
Joyce x Hopper - you're safe
It was 10.37 pm when Jim got the call from Flo at the station. Callahan had brought Lonnie Byers in for domestic disturbance, but someone had to go check in on the woman. Lonnie Byers, woman. That was... Joyce. She had refused to be taken care of, refused to go to the hospital.
Hospital. Hop frowned. Was it that bad?
Hopper felt anger and fear boiling up in his veines as he told Flo he'd do it himself, and that he'd be out of duty for the night then. Hopper had just returned to Hawkins half a year ago, and he realised that this was the first time he felt any other strong emotion than grief.
He started his engine and left the parking lot he'd been in, making a u turn on the road to head towards the Byers house right outside the center of Hawkins.
Five minutes later, he parked in front of the small house, dim light shining through its windows and he left his car, walking through the high grass that could have made a nice garden.
.
.
.
Joyce was sat on her sofa, when she heard a knock on the door, staring at the wall that held the one and only family picture of her, Lonnie and the boys. The glass was smashed.
A knock on the door, ah shit, the policeman had told her he'd send someone over again. Oh, no. She didn't want to open, she wanted to be alone, but could she really ignore the police?
So she slowly got up, as good as she could with her whole body aching and feeling sore. She made her way towards the front door, avoiding to look into the mirror hanging next to the shoe-drawer by the door. She didn't want to see herself, didn't want to face herself.
She'd been sitting on the couch for an hour, head throbbing from the crying, and she hadn't yet inspected her injuries, but it couldn't be worse than that one time Lonnie... never mind.
She was startled up when she heard another knock, realising she'd just been standing by the door without actually opening it. With shaky hands she turned the doorknob, only to find... Jim Hopper in his police uniform right outside her door. Right, he's back.
.
.
.
When Joyce opened the door for him, and her small frame revealed itself in the shabby door frame, he had trouble believing his eyes. Where has that girl gone? Funny, bright eyes, a laugh that could heal all his wounds?
She stood there, a weak smile on her lips, eyes teary, hair messy, and oh, fuck. The bruises.
Her lip was cracked open, dry blood covering her skin below her mouth, and her cheekbone was slowly but steadily turning into a deep shade of red and blue. Scratches on her neck and collar bone lead to another blue patch, disappearing inside of her blouse. The hand on the doorknob has fingerprints on its wrist, dark blue. He gulps audibly.
"Can I come in?", he asked, and she just turned around and lead the way. When Hopper enters the living room, he's shocked too, to say the least. It's a mess. A smashed whiskey bottle on the floor, and she was walking barefoot. Chairs fallen over, and pictures broken on a wall, right around Joyce's height frame. That scumbag smashed her against a wall.
.
.
.
Joyce sat back down on the sofa, as if Jim wasn't even there. Not once in her teenage life would she have guessed that Jim Hopper would once check in on her for domestic violence. Domestic violence. That's what it was.
Her eyes filled up with tears again, and added on to her feelings of shame, fear and hurt came embarrassment. Jim, her old friend, her first love, was here to see her like this.
.
.
.
"Where are the boys?", Jim asked with concern.
She didnt answer, Joyce was sitting on the sofa in unbearable silence, staring at her own hands.
He went to kneel down in front of her, gently patting her knee, afraid to startle her up with any kind of touch or movement — you never fully know what damage he's done to her.
But she let's him touch her, and it wakes her up.
"Jon's at a friend's house for the night, Will's with my Mom.", she says, nearly whispering, her voice sounding nasal and hoarse.
"Okay.", Hop stated, taking over control. "You're coming with me.", he said.
She did not even bother to protest or ask what he meant. When he helped her up by taking her arm, lead her to the front door and helped her into her jacket and shoes, she didn't even question it.
They got into the car and drive, and minutes later they arrived in front of Hopper's childhood home.
"I'm selling it. It's too big for just me, but I've lived here since I arrived back in Hawkins and til I've found a good buyer.", he explained, as if Joyce cared in that moment. But she hasn't forgotten of course, that his parents died a year ago.
He guided her inside gently, a hand on her back when they entered, as if she didn't know the way from years ago. Or maybe she didn't after all, knowing the way sneaking through his bedroom window way better.
She flinched a little at his touch, and her little, anxious move made his heart ache. He hadn't felt this... much since.. since Sarah.
This was the first time he was letting any feelings in, even if they were highly concentrated on the wish of sending Lonnie Byers to hell or prison, or both.
He let got of her back, careful not to pressure her with anything, and they entered the spacious living room. Not much had changed since the death of Hop's parents. Not much had changed since his childhood days.
Joyce looked around the room, taking it all in, not knowing where to stand or sit, or go.
"What do you need?", Jim asked and she looked at him, shrugging her shoulders. Decision questions seemed to be hard right now, and she noticed she felt a strange feeling forming in her gut, anxiety hitting at the thought of being perceived as crazy Joyce.
"Come on.", he said, leading her up the stairs and into the bathroom. He made sure she sat safely on the edge of the bathtub, after bringing her a bottle of water and a spare toothbrush.
In that moment, when he put some old flannel and boxer briefs of his onto the drawer by the sink, she couldn't help it. No one had ever taken care of her like this for... years, not even she herself, and it made her cry helplessly in front of that man she used to know, who had seen her cry in their lives before. It must have been the shock, she thought, that she started to cry, that she was just at a very vulnerable spot, but if she was honest with herself Hopper still made her feel safe, like it was okay to not always be the strong one.
Hop was just about to leave the bathroom, to give her some privacy to shower, rinse off the crusted blood and ease the bruises with the warmth of the water, when he heard her little sobs. He turned around and saw her, his flannel in her hand, tears falling down, running across the blue of her cheek and further down, mixing with said crusted blood.
She was a mess, he thought, but a mess he cared for, after all, a beautiful, broken mess he couldn't let go of, not even after all those years of having lost touch.
"Come here.", he said. "It's okay.", a weak try to reassure her, because nothing was really okay. Not for him, nor for her.
He opened his arms for a hug, but he asked her first. He didn't want to scare her with his touch again, although he knew it was nothing against him.
She nodded quietly, whispering a mouthed 'yes', and that was his sign to pull her close, in the middle of his parent's old bathroom and hold her. His hands stroked her hair first, soothing and calming her pulse down, before he gently wrapped them around her torso and squeezed a little, to make sure she knew he was there, strong and like a rock, and she was going to be okay.
She was still crying, muffled into his shirt now, and it broke him a little. "Shh...", he tried to soothe her somehow. "I've got you, you're safe.", he said, knowing it was only true as long as she didn't return home or Lonnie kept sitting in a cell.
When he squeezed her, to reassure her, she winced a little though. "Sorry, did I hurt you?"
"Ribs...", she whispered, and his heart dropped. "Let me see", he asked, wanting to make sure nothing was broken.
He raised her shirt and let it drop again as soon as he saw the blue covering her small ribcage. She must have taken a few punches, but he was in no place to ask. He wanted to tell her he was sorry, but what was he sorry for? That she had married a complete jerk?
He gently stroked her side with his fingers, as if a gentle gesture could repair any of what another man's rough gesture had destroyed. He then moved to the bathtub and ran her a bath.
"Alright, Joycie.", he said. She was startled up by his old nickname for her, but she didn't protest. It felt like a timetravel to better days, easier days. "You're gonna take a good bath, warm yourself up, calm down, soothe those bruises.", he tried for a smile to encourage her.
"I'm gonna be right outside, next door, in the bedroom. And you'll just have to say a word and I'm there for whatever you need me."
She listened to his words and nodded, waiting for him to leave the bathroom, before undressing and climbing into the tub. Her whole body felt sore, and she felt rather like eighty than thirty-something. She let the hot water take her over like a foggy cloud, warm and safe.
When nearly 45 minutes later, Jim Hopper respectfully knocked onto the bathroom door, opening it a little without looking in, she had fallen into a deep, dreamless sleep already.
She had drifted off, turned off the water, and had given in to her exhaustion.
It took Jim a few loud "Joyce"'s to wake her up, get her to the bedroom, and tuck her in.

Could you maybe write something post-canon where Neil’s ableism comes up and he and Andrew have to sort of navigate it’s effects on their relationship/have some type of discussion over it? Or alternately if you’d rather not, something about bi Katelyn?
not quite that but heres something about ableism
-
Its not the words so much that bothers Andrew but the silence that always followed them .
Renee would only smile placidly when Allison named him monster and nobody challenged her but instead took it up for their own use
Aaron would offer no defence when he was named crazy only shrugging as if it was an indisputable truth
kevin raised no objections when he was called joyless , empty , agreeing that he had no purpose in life beyond himself
nicky would laugh  in the same breath as saying he was soulless  as if it was an in joke between them
Neil  did this too  - yes even him
He would later denounce their attitudes one by one pretending to be shocked theyd treat andrew so -  but it was hollow coming from him -knowing  before  their first meeting even he was already psychotic midget and this  is what he would remain -  even after - even when it means something
now - andrew wouldve been fine with a legacy of fear if that was all it was  but it was not  -  not  if he - not if he was - a midget - . yes , thats what cements it , what caused them to hold  him apart  from and below them - it shows  in their eyes - his lack of humanity -
is he a threat or  is he a joke ? oh , certainly he is both-  they are afraid of him but they show him no respect
he is that sort  of monster . The kind that  isnt only feared  it is  also pitied. the sort where people think it is a cruelty that he even  lives at all - being what he is
they call him ruthless  to his face and whisper  midget behind his back
sometimes its  the other way  around
and that is almost worse
. andrew encased himself with mystery and aggression hoping he could inspire enough fear that his height was never made light of in this way.
his brother shared this particular burden . Aaron shouldered it by being unpleasant enough that he avoided the types who  would think to patronise in that sickening way due  to their stature  and by commiserating his lack of presence with the fact he was spared the condemnation of being the evil twin -  being short on its own is not monster  worthy status
being short and - crazy - well theres no hope for you there
kevin of all  of them knows the best the feeling , Kevin has words of his own . launched at him from the catapult of ignorance and prejudice  cripple, retard handicapped  he recognises the ripple of pain that surges through him when wymacks  mouth form the words
Its the same as goes through his own body when neil says psycho ,
when Aaron says evil ,
when nicky says soulless ,
Allison says monster
- Yet Kevin does not defend him. He likes it that  he is one step above him this way.
You have two hands you only have one brain.
Neil in their secret moments tells him he is not worthless that he alone is his love but he never takes back those earlier words never soothing the wounds they made. Neil wont take any of it back
Its his own fault Neil says for not telling them the way it was,  for not explaining- because of course ,of course it needed explaining. This couldnt just be accepted
-but you see  Neil that he is andrew minyard .His reputation went before him . He was monster before he'd even arrived.
You could fight that or you could embrace that and  use  it as your shield . andrew chose the latter.
it kept people off his back at least
He'd known that Aaron was afraid of him skirting around his presence keeping Kevin or Nicky between them pausing before he got into the car hiding and suppressing his other relationships to not raise his ire. His brother who loved him enough to kill still found him a danger
Nicky who had left a happy life for him who had stayed without a deal and didn't leave the moment he could. Nicky  who spent years trying to keep them safe who had sacrificed for them. He believed it too or he had  no scruples in pretending and laughing about how he was soulless. This is a deeper insult from Nicky who actually believed in souls but long ago he'd given up the thought that Andrew would be hurt by such a thing. When things are said to nicky andrew says dont use that word but when things are said to andrew nicky doesnt intervene
Renee is stronger than him. Her fight methods are better. she knows that. She is teaching him he doesn't scare her in the way he scared the others but still she treats him delicate like he'd explode if she pushed too far. She has no problem fighting him but she is afraid not for herself but that one day he would betray her trust and use her careful teaching against those she protected. She would take Allisons side of course she had done before - she stays quiet when allison rants about him
Allison knew him the least but claimed she knew him the best. When you are already  monster , as in her eyes he was ,every thing you do becomes monstrous. She expected nothing less of him. Of course he would be violent . of course he would hurt her .he is a monster
Matt had reason enough he supposed to revile him though he had helped in the long run he distrusted him. Thinks he would hurt Neil. As if he would. A if he would do the one thing that would destroy him. But of course of course Andrew doesn't feel things. people were collected if they were useful. Matt was not useful enough and so he was not chosen. this is how he views it. Doesn't know why beautiful Neil would chose such a strange and damaged person as Andrew. He thinks Neil is an innocent and knows not the darkness of his soul which is assumptions in itself
Dan - he did not know truly what Dan thought of him but it was not warmly. She viewed  him as something to be handled to be put up with to reach a higher goal. His skills were needed his person was not. She kept him and his at arms length enough to say I'm not with them. Now there was a them and he was their leader. She left him alone which he was grateful for but she doesn't bring him in doesn't let him close she doesn't want to hear his voice she doesn't think the psychotic midget has anything useful to say
Seth was his least favourite and that was no secret. He was prejudice in a very boring way. Just the kind that hated those who were not like him and didn't care enough to change that. He hated Kevin the most but andrew , was a close second. His ideas about life having value  didnt extend to the likes of Andrew Nicky and Kevin. Not even Aaron was normal enough for him.
Wymack was a rare thing in Andrews life a older man that he trusted. That he could trust with his family. He knew that wymack would not hurt him -not physically. Nobody thinks Andrew cares what he is called. Wymack didn't hate Andrew he knew that . wymack was actually rather fond of him but he never stoped  using the words.
perhaps you know such a word. it burns deep into your body .It's not icy the shock of it, its hot , white hot. The word is such a noise that it fills you to your lungs.
It drowns you in hot water and you can hardly breathe. He doesn't know if wymack believes the words he calls him but he doesn't stop. He can't say they hurt for it would break the illusion. If they knew Andrew could be hurt by words then it's all over for him he might as well put a knife into his own belly .So  Andrew knows it wont stop .
Wymack would scoff if he ever mentioned ableism. It sounds made up but it surely is not.
Neil would tell him there's no such thing -but how would he know? The only other disabled person he knows is kevin whom he'd called a cripple.
I don't hate disabled people neil would say and  genuinely believe thats enough  That that's the most he can give. Andrew supposed that is what most people think is the best they can do.
that's not what ableism is anyway. Well. it is. but that's not all.
Andrew knew ableism well
The word is new to him but the feeling is not
The experience of it is nothing new
Andrew knows ableism  is not just hate  ignorance and prejudice. It's is not just violence. It is not just fear of the unknown.
Although it is all those things It is also choosing not to acknowledge the difficulties you face .
Choosing not to stop using the words.
Choosing to laugh and not to listen
Choosing not to care because it isnt about you
It is when you are hurt and nobody does anything because nobody thinks that's a thing that could hurt.
When you are hurt physically and everybody shrugs that's just how it is for people like you
You are different so your pain is not important because most can ignore it.
It is the silence that follows the slurs when not one single person says you shouldnt say that
Not your brother.
Not your cousin.
Not your boyfriend.
Nobody
Such is ableism.
when nobody raises it because nobody believes there is such a thing
So it continues unchallenged
because .
Well None of us were offended
say the abled bodied team members
