SIX OF CROWS AND KISSING !!

(Welcome to this silly but intricate guide nobody asked for)

Just so everybody knows and is fully aware, I literally never kissed anybody in my whole damn life. I dont much care to try (for now) unless your name is Amita fucking Suman (jkjk, or not), but that doesnt mean I didnt do some very extensive research on the topic just so I can write what are hopefully non-generic scenes where all of my favorite characters make out till the following sunrise without a single other thought plaguing their empty little minds (exception being if the said thought is used to deepen 'the plot').

Before I say much else, I would like to note that THIS is just a very detailed bullet point list on kissing for all of my boys and girls separate of their partners assigned to them in canon or by the fandom. We will get to how it would actually go in different scenarios with different ships a bit later on if I decide it wont be a waste of my time. PS: No, not every kiss / kisser has to be extraordinary or unique or have whatever traits I ended up slapping on these characters here, Im just extra like that. And its not like anybody can stop me. Deal with it and simply enjoy (whatever this may be)!

JESPER LLEWELLYN FAHEY

Jesper has had his fair share of practice in this particular field, we all know it. That is no reason to say that he is a perfect kisser, there are many who have done way more, constantly brag about it, and yet still leave you disappointed. But, this is Jesper we are talking about. Kuwei has said that he is a great kisser too, I choose to trust him on that. That joke he made to cheer up Wylan at Olendaal, the one about kissing Nina / Matthias 'with tongue', it doesnt have to mean anything, but I like to think he is a tongue kind of guy. I also like to think that he is adaptable to any type of person though, he aims to please through-and-through. It saddens me to look deeper, to think about how that may be a result of his low self-esteem, but in moments like these, it makes him happy most of the time, and it is all I could hope for when it comes to my boy.

The first relationship he had been a witness to, the one his mother and father shared before her death, had been a very healthy one. I wouldnt call Colm the perfect father, certainly not after his wife was gone, albeit he is significantly better compared to the hands the rest of our favourite characters have been dealth with, but he was good to Aditi. Most kids, including myself, were the type to be grossed out by PDA, especially when its between their parents, and while thats not in any way a bad thing, we can clearly see that Jesper was not of that type.

Despite his many faults, he was raised fairly well. He knows how to make a comfortable environment, to recognize a clear invitation, what to ask and what not to ask, what is acceptable and what he shouldnt do without a more in-depth discussion. He knows how to create and opportunity where one could deny him if they so wished. I wouldnt say its some overly high bar to jump over, if anything it is the most basic standard any and all should hold themselves to, but I call Jesper 'the consent king' for a reason.

Its said in the book that his mind empties when he kisses the right person, that thinking of methaphors clearly means something is wrong, but hes still pretty descriptive in his POVs if you ask me. Its also very clear that he likes to kiss deep, slow, and involve other sensations throughout which is the part where Id like to include some of my very own hcs (slight temperature / texture play where he drags his rings over skin, hair pulling is a given but I can see him also liking to touch peoples ears a lot, talking in between and whispering during the few subtly initiated pauses, etc). Jespers favourite type of kiss would probably be those he iniciates as soon as he wakes up in the morning. It rains often in Ketterdam, its normal, so he would also probably be one of the rare creatures among the regular Kerch citizens who finds kissing in the rain romantic.

KAZ BREKKER (RIETVELD)

Kaz will have to go through some major healing first, no doubts about that, but Id say he would probably be one of the elite members of the 'Im keeping my eyes open for this' club (until he isnt). I doubt he does much analyzing during, mentally he is on another planet thats probably many lightyears away as he tends to do with a lot of other even remotely intimate things, but theres lots of squinting, eyelid fluttering... Kaz is basically a personafication of that cliche 'when did I close them' quote. In my own experience, I can barely hold eye contact when talking, but I dont really see this as a bad trait. I also dont see it as a trauma response either like some would assume it would be for Kaz, I think its just a him thing. If this man didnt want to kiss somebody, you would not be kissing him, end of.

He likes to focus on teeth, whether by unconsciously (or consciously) biting his partner, having your teeth bump into each other, or licking his own after youre done. Theres lots of shuddering, youll feel him there more than youll hear him, but he is not completely silent either. I dont think he would like beeing cornered, picked up or lifted in any way except on very rare occasions. Just like the pulse thing where he feels for it on the wrist (or neck once he is more comfortable), feeling his weight including the pain of his leg serves to ground him. Perhaps he might also like feeling of you breathing through your nose on his face for the same reasons? He doesnt like leaving things unfinished, even if its just a peck, he will make sure it feels 'complete', I dont know how else to put it. If anybody could overuse the words "Again?", it would be Kaz motherfucking Brekker.

Im in no way saying he will be good, in fact, theres lots of traits here that many wouldnt like, but he tries when he wants to (and again, you would not be kissing this man if he didnt want it), he will learn and he will remember the smallest of details (so that he can ponder over them later). The only thing we hear about Kazs appearance related to his mouth is that there is a scar running through his upper lip. I never got it when people talked about kisses having a taste, but Kaz seems to often call people light-weight, so clearly, he handles his alcohol well, perhaps having developed such a habit to settle down his own supposedly non-existent nerves. It might not be the main reason, we heard about him being on the receiving end of many fights that in certain circumstances and with the ways they are handled lead to similar results, but liquor does leave one dehydrated and with chapped lips.

WYLAN VAN ECK (HENDRIKS)

Unless he is particulary fired up, Wylan likes to start slow and chaste no matter if you are the first, the thousanth person he has kissed or just a person he has kissed a thousand times. Unlike Kaz, he has some experience, sheltered kids know how to have fun in secret (and Im the last person who would ignore that 'lie' about him being kicked out for bedding the tutor, theres some truth to everything), but he is also nowhere near the level of Jesper or Nina or Matthias. We know he likes when his partner feels calm and like they are actually in their body before he goes in for the kill, we saw it with Jesper, but we also see that he isnt the type who needs to ask every time and will just do it when 'the time feels right'. Look out, he just might squeeze into your shirt while youre wearing it and do a makeshift 'surprise attack' from there if he is determined enough for it.

From that, we could say he might have some other habits, including but not limited to the familiar one of guiding his partner through breathing patterns. Maybe sometimes he likes to hold onto your forearms more tightly than necessary (not forcefully though), have your knees touch and bump into one another, straighten his own / your items of clothing, compare hand sizes while making weirdly-intense eye contact, use his thumb to subtly rub at a random tensed muscle, touch foreheads if he is tall enough or rub his face along the side of your neck, anything that would focus your attention to him and the moment... Ironically, as a follow up to the last point and as the kiss drags on, he forgets that he is an actual person who has a weight to them and has to lean back against something with the help of his partner before he falls down and cracks his goddamn skull open.

He likes to leave an effect on whoever he is kissing, but he also likes to 'clean up after himself' as much as possible after its done, which once again serves to bring both of you back down. So yeah, he would probably do something like twirling a stay peace of hair around his finger before neatly tucking it back in place, running that same finger across a brow, down the nose or along the jawline, nudging you playfully with his shoulder, hips or elbows, swaying a bit to slowly return the atmosphere back to relaxed as he secretely links your pinky fingers together. Lips would be his main focus, and he especially likes the soothing effect it has when he is sleepy, but he could also grow to like eyelid, nose, tummy or thigh kisses when it comes to placement.

INEJ GHAFA

Inej has had many men kiss her throughout her life, and unfortunately, theres no need to debate whether she truly enjoyed any of them. Oh how I would love to say that every shitty person is also shit at every other skill they try to master, however, that doesnt have to be the case. The fact that she was a brothel girl doesnt have to mean all of her kisses were bad (to specify, that refers to the technique). That being said, I think she would appreciate the message more than the way its done. It also might result in her not exactly caring about the placement of a kiss, palm, knuckles, hair, cheek, neck, lips, any of them would be equally as intimate to her, platonic or otherwise. Its somewhat similar to what Wylan also likes, but very different too once you look further.

As is with Kaz, you would not be kissing the Inej we know now unless she didnt want you to. I probably should have said this earlier, no, I dont mean that any of the other Crows would enjoy a kiss that was not what they wanted, they wouldnt ignore the signs and will fight the person off if needed, but I hope you understand why Im emphasizing it for these two in particular. I think her kisses would be short, but sweet, a petite little package that can deliver a punch under a right set of conditions, just like she can, the same going for her ship. Physically, we know her lips have an upturn to their shape. As is true with alcohol, salt water has the same drying effect that is only made worse by licking.

One other feature that might make Inejs kisses unique is a possibility of her aquiring more jewellery during her travels. I always imagined that the Suli find piercings to be very meaningful. Perhaps she had some since a very young age, perhaps they were taken from her too during her time at the Menagerie, maybe the holes closed naturally over the long months, maybe she got more whilst working for Kaz, and although it was not put there for such a reason, a lip ring (just as an example) has quite a pleasing effect for either side.

She holds a special appreciation for people who remember their first kiss, or at least remember their first kiss with her, a courtesy she will offer in return as well. It takes special kind of brave to get close (she knows better than most) and never lets the feat of overcoming fear go unappreciated. For some reason, I can see her counting the seconds, not for any reason at all. I wouldnt say its something particulary good nor bad, but Inej doesnt give me the 'let me kiss your words away' signals no matter the situation. The phrases that would fit more would be "We will get through this", "Stay strong, for you", "Lets face it together" or "We shall see each other once more". She seems like the type to keep her affairs secret, but at the end of the day, I also dont think she would mind PDA all that much.

KUWEI YUL-BO

I know the fandom likes to joke that Kuwei is the bad kisser between the two, seeing as to how Jesper was left 'disappointed' even before knowing the truth behind who he was actually kissing... But I dont think that had to do much with the kiss itself. We were told that Jesper liked Kuweis body plenty enough, but even if it were really Wylan (both in shape and spirit), Jesper wasnt in the right space, and Kuweis silence and mannerisms didnt do much to help.

Now, this is a personal headcanon, but one of the habits I think he might pick up in the Little Palace would be scratching his nose or covering his mouth before he goes in for a kiss. Or well, I like to imagine that being his tell among all the snarky comebacks, vicious flirting and sly glances. And seeing as to how playful he is with his powers and how much he grows to use them for mischief and otherwise in KOS, I like to think that his face is always warm to the touch as Kuwei himself is constantly touching it. Random instert, this man unironically likes lemons and you will without a doubt taste quite an assortment of teas while with him.

Some people care about the emotional setting, some like keeping it casual, and some like having that perfect mix of both. Kuwei might acknowledge that in different ways and act accordingly, but I also think he might care more about the physical setting and connect good actions with places rather than specific people or mutual feelings. This man is a certified tease, unless you pull him towards you which is exactly what he wants, he is 100%, absolutely ready to keep a partner on the edge of their seat, kiss the corner of their mouth, or maybe with the lips barely touching. Instead of licking his own lips out of habit or to seduce, he would lick yours. Kuwei being a tease might also be a way for him to set up walls? In a sense that hes reminding both himself and the person hes kissing that this is just a kiss and it doesnt mean anything. And when hes kissed by someone he loves and trusts, hes downright pathetic, super soft and annoyingly sweet about it.

I dont know where else to put it so it will have to be here, but I like to think he chewed on his lips a lot as a child and whilst in captivity, leaving him with barely visible indents once he reached adulthood. When it comes to the type, Id say he could end up enjoying goodnight kisses next to the fireplace or lit by the flame in his own hand more than he would like doing anything in the early morning. Kuwei tends to get frustrated and bored easily so that might lead to certain effects as well, more specifically the speed, angle and desperation. He has hid for long enough and doesnt much care about who sees what, only whether they got a nice view from wherever they were standing at the time.

NINA ZENIK

Nina has practiced CPR from a very young age (I wouldnt call any of those a true kiss by any means, but it will make slightly more sense in just a moment), we see her perform one on Kaz in the books without hesitation, so I doubt her first 'kiss' was particularly enjoyable or wholly consentual or that she even remembers it. Perhaps from that, her kisses would grow to be particulary breathy in the future, although that doesnt mean its some kind of rule or that its not just a result of her personality being put into how she goes about it. We already know temple kisses are her thing among some other stuff, but she also doesnt seem to have a similar kind of bond with any other type that is not at neck level or above. Shes fine with them, but always seems to go to certain spots herself when she has a choice, singing and laughing through all of it. As Matthias tends to say a lot, the chase is a game to her, whether on top or beneath, she still wins.

Her skin is said to be soft, and supposedly so are her lips, plus the girl is a Heartrender and that surely results in many privileges. Surprisingly enough, I wouldnt say she is particularly experienced in the world of romance, even if her talent at sweet-talking might suggest otherwise. Perhaps shes had flings, one or two, maybe even a relationship at some point, but I dont see much more in my visions of her backstory. "Dont you want to play with me?" and "Cant you handle it?" are some of the repeating phrases in her vocabulary, but oh, it only gets worse once she feels well and truly romanced, swept off her feet as one might say, and that takes lots of effort. Its a good thing we know Nina has some high expectations, that way all of us can be her personal wingmen.

If anybody could obtain the famous movie achievement of leaving a string of saliva to connect her lips with her partners for just a few more moments, it would be Nina. Speaking of such things, she may also be the only one for who the 'let me kiss you against this wall so that they dont spot us' scenario might actually work (in theory), or at least give her enough time to incapacitate them during their confusion since she tends to be quite loud appearance wise. Likes being attended to and coddled, and no kiss has a chance without a firm grab or two. Will die if you do a tango dip with her in your arms. She is one of the biggest fans of mistletoes and finds it extremely romantic. Sometimes, when she is invited to watch a play or show, she will turn around and kiss her partner whenever the actors do. "Consider me madly in love. With the kisses, not you. ... But maybe also you if you did it again."

MATTHIAS BENEDIK HELVAR

And finally, we have our romantic-at-heart of the group, Matthias. Now, his and Ninas romance is the most obvious and out-in-the-open throughout the whole duology, and frankly he is the one I had the most trouble with writing, but the difference between seeing their first kiss from Ninas perspective and the one of Matthias is that theirs was his first kiss ever. All of his actions leading up to it, as well as those after, are a promise in some way or another, and Im not only talking about his vow to her. Nothing could have prepared me for when he lifted Nina straight off her feet and held her there as he kissed her, yet it was also the most in-character thing he ever could have done.

Matthias will absolutely, every time, start an hour long conversation on what led him to this moment, if it is the right time, the right place, the right everything... He will continue up until he himself is basically internally shouting at his own mouth to shut itself (he has very low patience despite everything mentioned above) or his partner takes the initiative themselves. The second option is prefered by both parties and a 5-star whine is the expected plus-one to excellent service. He is the type to gulp when you get too close. Will go mad if you can tell when he is holding on by a thread despite his lack of many facial expressions, especially if told something along the lines of "Just lose control, love".

He is particularly sensitive for textures. All humans are to some extent, the lips have more nerve endings in them than fingertips, but Matthias is the one who is fullfilled by it the most and frequently says stuff related to it like "Are you wearing chapstick?" or "I can feel the dip of your scar". Often acknowledges indirect kisses. Matthias has once said that kissing isnt about romance, that it should be proper and only done as a follow up to a conventional Fjerdan courtship, and while lots about him has changed during his canonical relationship with Nina, I think he might still enjoy going through at least some of these with somebody who might appreciate his efforts. Matthias is still highly religious even if he is now seeing the world from another perspective and there are some cultural things that for him go deeper than just tradition. In a very specific headcanon of mine, he has grown up fantasizing about having to lift up your chin to do it, and so now he does so even with taller partners who can reach his mouth just fine.

He would 100% take the 'Will you love me if I was a worm' jokes way too seriously. "How am I supposed to handle a worm? I could hold a butterfly, maybe kiss you if you were a wolf (but thats after a very extensive inspection of your molars)". Kisses the back of your neck after putting on a necklace. Pretends that lipstick stains dont turn him on to the highest setting.

Spencer Reid x she/her!reader

Familiar Face

“What about you, kid, did you have a crush in school?” Derek asks Spencer, a natural progression considering everyone on the team had already discussed their school crushes. Even Penelope joined in from the computer screen. It‘s a long flight, they have time.

The image of you enters Spencer’s mind as soon as the question is asked.

“No, I didnt.” He answers, the picture of you seeming to grow until it envelopes all of his thoughts.

Emily raises an eyebrow. “I think someone is telling a lie!”

This peaks the entire team’s interest, all of them leaning forward in their seats, profiling him expertly in terrifying silence.

“Alright, alright! There was a girl I had feelings for!” Spencer admits defeat under the deadly gaze of his friends, who all smile in joint victory.

“Come on kid, you’ve gotta tell us more!” Derek says, already prepared to tease the genius to no end.

Spencer sighs. “She was my best friend. My only friend, actually. Nobody could really...stand to be around me, nobody my own age, back then. The only reason I wasnt mercilessly bullied was because of her, she so fiercely defended me all the time.” He laughs fondly, losing himself to thoughts of you. “She was always much smaller than me, but she was fearless. We used to play imaginary games where we were both police officers chasing bad guys; it was her who inspired me to want to pursue a career like this. Before her, the bad guys scared me. My mom loved her, and she loved my mom, they were always laughing together whenever she came over. I can distinctly remember my heart stopping when our imaginary police games got particularly dramatic and she’d grab my hand, for just a few seconds I was allowed to believe I had a chance with her.” Spencer shakes his head, pulling himself out of his thoughts and clearing his throat. “But that was a long time ago, she has most likely forgotten all about me.”

He looks down at the case file in his hands and pretends to read it while the team exchange glances. He did his best to reveal as little personal information possible about you, so that they have no way of finding you and forcing you to see him again, but he couldnt help still feeling worried.

It had been a while since Spencer had thought of you. His mind drifted to you every so often, but he only ever let himself very shallowly recall memories of you, he wouldnt dare relive them properly. But after talking about you aloud for the first time in so many years, the dam was broken, and his mind was flooded.

Not only does he recall how his heart stopped when you held his hand, he remembers the way you’d grin every time you saw him, even if you’d only spent an hour without him. Spencer recites the countless facts he remembered specifically to tell you. He remembers every word you ever told him, from the day you met when the two of you were five years old, until the day he graduated high school at 12 and had to leave for college.

That day in kindergarten, you left the other kids you were playing with so that you could go and sit with little Spencer, who was reading a book by himself. You introduced yourself and asked him to read to you, which became an ongoing tradition in your friendship, up until the day you cried into each other before he had to leave for college. You told him you adored him, that you’d do everything in your power to stay in touch with him, and then you kissed him. Neither him nor you had ever addressed any feelings outside of friendship, and even then, neither of you said anything. It was your shared first kiss.

Spencer remembers every detail of every incident when you physically jumped in front of him to protect him from school bullies. He counted six times that you got called to the principal’s office for punching, kicking and biting people that were mean to him. It would always be Spencer who pulled you away from a fight and held you back, you werent scared at all. He remembers when you got a black eye in a particular incident protecting him, he felt so guilty that he threw up and tried to avoid you, because he thought you’d be safer and happier without him. But you found him, you always did, and you told him you’d break every bone in your body if it meant he would be safe. That was one of the moments, one of many, that made him fall so hard for you.

A week passed, a week of Spencer daydreaming of you in the same way he did all those years ago. None of the team had brought you up again, which gave him just as much relief as it did stress; he couldnt tell if they were planning something or if they’d simply moved on. Regardless, the team’s focus is presently on a case of a missing child. This case is only a short drive away, no flight necessary, which was the only pleasantry of this case.

“We contacted a CARD team investigator to assist us on this case.” Aaron briefs the team as they enter the station, and everyone nods.

The CARD team, Child Abduction Response Deployment, works to recover victims as quickly as possible and helps apprehend those responsible for taking them. There are only 60 or so agents who make up the CARD team, stationed at field offices and assigned to one of five regional teams. They are seasoned veterans of crimes against children, especially child abductions, and have received extensive training. While some local law enforcement agencies may only work one or two child abduction cases a year, CARD team agents work these kinds of cases all the time, keeping their unique skill set honed.

An officer approaches Aaron. “Agent (Y/L/N) has already started interrogating the first person on the local sex offenders list.”

Hotch nods. “Rossi, you and Prentiss speak to the first victim’s family. JJ and Derek, go and speak to Addie’s parents.” He instructs, referring to the child currently missing. “Reid and I will assist Agent (Y/L/N) with interrogations.”

Spencer feels his mouth dry up, Agent (Y/L/N)? It couldnt be, could it? The probability of that coincidence is far too low, it isnt logical, only hopeful.

The team splits up, with Spencer and Aaron heading to the interrogation room. The CARD investigator has her back to the window, sitting opposite a particularly seedy looking middle aged man.

“How many times are you and I going to meet in these circumstances, Mr. Williams?” She says, a hint of sass mixed into her authoritative tone.

“As many times as you jump to suspect me the second a kid goes missing!” Mr. Wiliams snaps back, raising his voice.

Although Spencer cant see her face, he can practically hear her raise an eyebrow sarcastically as she laughs. “Oh, you overestimate yourself, Mr. Williams. You are simply the first name on the list, there are plenty of other creeps far more capable of such a professionally executed crime. As far as Im concerned, you’re an amateur.”

Spencer smiles slightly. Hotch looks at him.

“She’s good, isnt she?”

Spencer nods. “She’ll break him in no time.”

He cant help recognising her voice as somewhat familiar, but he discards it as his mind playing tricks on him.

“Garcia said she’s quoted as the best CARD investigator in her regional team, if not the best of them all. In every case she’s worked, she’s found every child, and found them alive.”

Spencer frowns slightly, looking to Hotch. “Why did Garcia do a background check on a CARD investigator?”

There’s a flicker of panic in Aaron’s eyes, but he immediately regains composure. “She’d heard of Agent (Y/L/N) prior to this, in various articles Garcia likes to read about children who were reunited with their parents after being kidnapped. She hoped to join us on this case so that she could befriend the investigator.”

Spencer nods, that does sound like Penelope. But he couldnt shake the feeling that something was off. Penelope had never mentioned an Agent (Y/L/N) before.

“You’re obsessed with me!” Mr. Williams scoffs. “Even though Im in therapy for my inappropriate attractions, I’d rather have my dick cut off with a butter knife than sleep with you!”

The CARD investigator laughs at that, she really laughs, dramatically wiping tears from her eyes.

“Oh, now you’ve dug yourself a hole!” She says as she rises from her seat, placing her palms flat on the interrogation table and leaning over to him. “I’ve got a game for you. Why dont you go ahead and give me a list of women who would sleep with a man who can only get it up for little kids? Oh, wait, sorry, Im getting you confused with pedophiles who can get it up in the first place. You missed that train, didnt you? I also think you’re forgetting who was at your court case, and who saw the naked pictures of you that were passed around the court.” She chuckles, shaking her head dismissively as she walks around the table and leans over him from the side, her hair shielding her face from Spencer’s view.

“Sweetheart, my pinky finger would give me more satisfaction!” Agent (Y/L/N) cheers.

Mr. Williams tugs at his handcuffs, and she laughs harder.

“You’re really gonna try that with me? Do you WANT to go back in a cell? From what I remember, the other inmates dont take kindly to people like you, but Im sure you know that from your own experience, right?” She leans closer to him, Mr. Williams shrinking away from her. “Where were you at 3pm on Tuesday the 13th?” She tucks her hair behind her ear, and Spencer’s blood runs cold.

It’s you.

He knew it, the moment he heard your name, heard your voice, your laugh, he just didnt want to admit it!

“How did you find her?” Spencer asks, his voice stern.

“Garcia.” Hotch replies, neither of the men looking at each other.

Spencer nods and speed walks away, feeling his entire body heating up until he steps outside the building. He feels lightheaded, dizzy, like he’s dreaming. Before he knows it, his phone is pressed to his ear.

“You’ve reached the desk of the one and only sex goddess-“

Spencer cuts Penelope off. “How did you find her?”

He hears her swallow nervously. “W-Well, you graduated early, so I knew there was no point looking in yearbooks, but there were school pictures from before then...she was always stood next to you.”

Spencer sighs, Penelope doesnt say anything else, and he knows why. She’s worried that he’s angry with her, but he could never be. He knows that the team put her up to it for that exact reason: Garcia is the only person on the team he cant hold a grudge against, because her intentions are always nothing but kind. Without her needing to say it, Spencer knows she found you because she saw how happy he was just talking about you, she wanted to reunite the two of you. Set him up with someone that he already knew, or did, many years ago. And for that, he cant be upset with her.

“I havent seen her since I was 12, what do I say?” Spencer asks, truly lost in a situation he had not prepared himself for.

He can hear the relief in Penelope’s voice at his response. “Just be yourself! That worked when you were kids, so it’ll work now!”

Spencer looks over the door of the police station. “How can you know that?”

The smile on Penelope’s face is obvious. “You both ended up catching the bad guys.”

Spencer cant help but smile, too. It’s a strange bit of reassurance, and he appreciates it more than he can say. “Thank you.”

Penelope squeals. “Go get her!”

Then she hangs up, causing Spencer to laugh as he tucks his phone back in his pocket. He takes a few deep breaths as he stares at the door, hyping himself up before he nods to himself and walks back inside. Determination fills him as he makes his way back to the interrogation room, but the determination melts when he sees you talking with Hotch in the entrance hall. He had anticipated he’d have a few more seconds to mentally prepare, but that was gone, and so was his confidence. Spencer stops dead in his tracks, frozen to the spot.

You and Hotch smile as you talk, your eyes distracted from him by something you couldnt figure out, until they glanced at the door. Your expression fell into one of utter disbelief. Wide eyes approach Spencer at a pace that could slow time itself. Once you’re close enough, you lift your hand at the same snail speed, gently touching his cheek with your fingertips.

“Is it really you?” You whisper, such a quiet contrast to the confidence in the interrogation room.

Spencer nods, parting his mouth to speak, but then your face begins to change. A smile forms, blooming into a grin until he recognises it as the same smile you’d always give him, and quite suddenly all words lose their meaning. No amount of syllables or sentences could come close to a justified description of your beauty.

“Well, let me start by saying with complete confidence that my childhood crush on you has transcended its previous laws.” You say, blushing slightly at your own confession.

“How so?” Spencer asks with a small smile.

“Childhood crushes are supposed to end when childhood does, but here I am!” You declare, playfully mad at him.

He laughs. “Last time I saw you, you very unfairly put me in a state of shock that made me mute for an entire day.”

Your eyes widen with concern. “I did? Why!?! How!?!”

Spencer sighs. “You kissed me, and as soon as you did I couldnt function.”

“And why is that unfair?” You ask teasingly, grinning again.

“You rendered me physically incapable of responding appropriately!” Spencer states in joking accusation.

You raise an eyebrow, processing the sentiment behind his words. You take a step closer to him, standing on your tiptoes to wrap your arms around his neck. “Well, what’s a 20 year break in a conversation? I’d gladly continue it! A little less sadly this time around though, if possible.”

Spencer leans in. “Oh, that’s definitely possible.” He mumbles quietly, half a second before your lips meet his.

Spencer’s hands go to your waist, then to the small of your back, then your hips, while yours run through his hair and hold him to you, not that he’d ever try to escape. Your lips collide in the most gorgeous way, dancing together wordlessly, perfectly detailling the extent of your yearning for each other. You pull away, panting, and Spencer feels himself swell with pride noticing how impressed you are. Maybe waiting 20 years to kiss you back was good, since he got some practise in before the final test. Seeing you still recovering from his kiss, he finds confidence he never would’ve found without you.

“So, dinner tonight?”

i wanted to keep these as simple as possible , and not cram too much imagery in to them , so they wouldnt look out of place in the show &c ! fun little challenge i gave myself , just for context :D

akechi: a white pawn chess piece ! my friend actually came up with this ! and its kinda genius ! to paraphrase what she said: white chess pieces move first ; akechi is always the one to (attempt to be) one step ahead of the thieves , having everything lined up for himself to succeed .

her words: “akechi sets the first gambit, the tone, and gets to begin laying out the chess board how he sees fit, and joker is the reactionary. but heres the thing. strategists differ on how you should play as black, like if you should automatically be on defense from white's offensive move. but the most famous black player of all time is magnus carlsen, who is WILDLY an offensive player and absolutely goes for it every time, to the point where white has been INTIMIDATED by him and played poorer statistically against him because of it . like thats CRAZY!! hes one of the boldest chess players in existence and he prefers to go SECOND! it was pretty much unheard of before him.”

plus , (my words now) theres the idea of not only him manipulating others (the pawn) , but he himself becoming a pawn in a plan much grander than him . the p5 wildcards and their games of strategy a nd all !

joker: joker card(+mask !) i was actually trying to come up with something “better” , but the joker card really , really fits him . not only literally being a wildcard in the metaverse/persona sense , but also IRL , how he’s adaptable to every situation ! canon pretty much explains it , LOL ! but again bringing in the theme of classic games of strategy , joker with his joker card !

ryuji: EPIC awesome skull (literally his na,me...) , but i liked it with the idea of delinquency/pirates(YIPPY !) , as well as the lightning not only for power , but symbolizing speed~ hes just cool

ann: lipstick kiss mark ! this one actually came to me really quick , LOL ! it symbolizes her role as a model (makeup !) , but also has to do with how she reclaims her sexuality and looks for herself ! that , as well as her caring nature , especially to the little guys(like a mother’s kiss goodbye on your forehead..)

yusuke: ink brush + swirls !!! funny enough this one took me the longest to come up with . i wanted to avoid giving him a palette , since i wanted to focus on traditional japanese art forms above all else (since thats basically his whole tyhing !) and ended up going with an ink brush ! it’s not exclusively japanese by any means , but its recognizable , and we see him work with ink many times ! the little swirls are meant to be the golden ratio (beauty ?)LOL , but just kinda look like swirls.......maybe shapes found in his art ?

makoto: gavel and books ! also took me a weirdly lomg time to come up with , but i figured it out ! the gavel is obviously meant to represent justice/the justice system , but also wanted it to represent power as well (since makoto can often act like a secondary “boss” LOL , and her role as a leader at school !) . the books are for her intelligence (perhaps legal books) ? yippy !!!!

haru: a coffee cup with a plant growing out of it ! this is a bit on the nose , but i had fun figuring it out ! keeping her goal of opening a cafe (and coming up with new coffee blends throughout the game) in mind , as well as her love for plants and gardening ! the plant is meant to form a sort of heart (which can also look like steam coming fromt he cup).. , to also show her nurturing side !

futaba: computer and medjed eyes !!!!!! also a bit on the nose , LOL ! for this 1 , the computer is obviously tied to her skill as a hacker/her computer-focused life , but the eyes carry a bit more weight ! theyre literally the eyes of the deity medjed , who is known for those two eyes that look directly at you ! we dont see any medjed logo with graphics like this in game IIRC , but i added it for the double(triple?) meaning ! medjed in game carries the weight of being a part of the book of the dead , and connected to futaba’s palace themed around egyptian tombs , but i also felt the eyes could be tied to how she monitors everyone , and interacts with the world through her computer (almost as if shes looking out from it !) yippy !!!!!!!!! :D

sumire: magic wand/gymnastics ribbon ! as explained by my description , LOL , this mark is meant to look both like a magic wand (cinderella/fairy gdmother ...) as well as a gymnastics ribbon ! we see her with these in game , which made my job much easier ! the ribbon forms sort of an “s” for her name , and also looks kind of like a shooting star , to symbolize how she is always shooting for the top ! (and on a darker note , how shooting stars can often be meteors that fall apart)... kasumi’s mark is hers but reversed , and has an additional sparkle/star on it , for “3 stars”, 1st place ! the absence of this sparkle for sumire can represent how she lost her sister , and how she feels lesser (even if just as wonderful !)

How i perceive Sirius Black

Starting with the basics

- gay he loved men

- genderfluid

- graysexual

- androginy THEY ARE ANDROGINY

- any pronouns (preference for using different pronouns in the same sentence)

- Has BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and ADHD

- french/east easian/plain white idk i like these 3 hcs

- 1,78m tall (told everyone was 1,80m)

- Sirius was trained in ballroom dancing, piano, violin and had etiquette lessons as a child. Speaks French, English, German and Russian. She can play almost any instrument tbh.

- Loved to paint, write poetry and draw. (drew mostly on black and grey). Sirius also kept a journal he learned to charm so only his eyes could read it.

- Favorite band was Queen, also loved Bowie, KISS, Led Zeppelin, T. Rex and all of glam rock (later found a passion for punk) and secretly loved Tchaikovsky. Found muggle music through Andromeda. She was like her older sister and his biggest protector, he was destroyed when she was disowned. She kept buying sirius vinyls and sending it to her while she was at school.

- Sirius was a natural born rebel, they defied everything just by existing. "My existence is a scandal" was his motto.

- Sirius loved to read, but at home was only allowed to read russian and french classics like Dostoevsky, Victor Hugo, Tolstoy, Dumas etc.

- Once their uncle Alphard gave him Oscar Wilde books and that became her whole life. She loved 'The ghost of Canterville' and 'The Picture of Dorian Grey'. Sirius never really talked to other ppl about liking books though.

- At home, her life was shit, of course. Her parents were abusive and it started really young, they were manipulative and narcissistic, neglected Sirius's emotions and feelings, and prohibited him from showing their true self. But the abuse was discreet, quiet, it wasn't obvious to him. She knew it wasn't alright but also couldn't recognize it was abuse, to her, their parents just wanted what was best for him, wanted him to be their best self. Her mom still told him she loved them, they still gave star things, they treated them well and like shit at the same time.

- As Sirius was growing up the abuse kept getting worse, they started using curses and hexes and beating him, hurting her in many ways, but she thought he deserved it because that would help them become a better person, she still understood the abuse as care. As he turned 13 he was thought dark arts at home stars parents used his wants and needs as a way to control her, she always had to do something for her family to get basic human treatment. As she got older they started getting more violent, using unforgivables and curses that hurt her physically.

- Walburga was literally one of the worst people to walk on this earth, she was bitter, heartless, prejudiced, violent, ruthless, she was an awful human being and Sirius HATED her. Walburga was obsessed with keeping up appearances, making the family name justice, being better and superior to everyobody else, she had these delusions of grandeur, of maintaining a superiority status. He was scared she could become like her mother one day, that she was as insane as the woman who gave him life but also literally tortured and tried to kill her own children just for the sake of "the family name".

- Her relationship with Regulus was very complicated. When Reg was born Sirius loved him so much, he couldn't even explain. Reg was everything Sirius could never be. He was everything her parents wanted her to be, he was quiet, polite, patient, never spoke out of turn, he did everything his parents wanted him no without question. Sirius could feel in all the ways their parents acted that they loved Reg more, that Reg was what they actually wanted.

- Sirius hated herself for it because she hated his brother for something he could not control but they also loved him more than anything. So their relationship was unstable, some nights they went to each other for comfort, others they wouldnt even share looks. Around 9/8yo Reg told Sirius that he just always knew he had to play a part, to pretend in order to survive in that family, that he had to be literally a perfect child. For most of her life, Sirius did love his brother more than anything. After Reg grew up and started to get more brainwashed by his parents, they drifted apart he resented Sirius, he despised him for being a blood traitor, for being queer, for being wrong. (Abused children deal with abuse in different ways so i would never say regulus was a bad person, he was victim) Sirius had to leave and it was the right thing to do.

- Only started to have longer hair by the end of 4th year

- He was a happy child, a little star, brighting people's days, always laughing and being just loud. Her mother hated it. Orion was just neglectful and complacent with Walburga.

- Sirius was very loud, just a loud person, who talked loud, walked making noise, talked with their whole body

- His presence was always noticed, because she could not shut up. They always knew something was wrong in the way her family worked, every night she cried looking at the stars wishing to be saved, because she knew life could be better, she always felt something was missing, like a void in his chest, like he wasn't complete. That void was filled with James. He felt how real normal people love for the first time with James. He was the brother she wanted Reg to be, James was supportive of his every action and trait, they could hug and show affection.

- James was so much more than just a best friend, he was truly Sirius' brother, their relationship wasn't platonic nor romantic, their loved surpassed these notions we have of love. Their love just was. Nothing could compare to Remus though, he was her soulmate, her other half, they were connected by the red string, they were born to be together. He probably fell in love with Remus the second they met.

- Sirius was sensitive and also strong, she cried himself to sleep sometimes bc he didn't wanna bother anyone. He used humor to hide the fact that she hated himself, he was always cracking jokes and making people laugh, because that made her feel loved.

- Sometimes she lost her sense of self, she dissociated and wondered who she even was, if that person was actually them, if he wasnt pretending just to cause a scene, those days she became distant, nobody recognized him. He was agressive and impulsive and somehow was always hurting the people she cared most.

- Some days she felt like a complete failiure and waste of space, other days she felt he was better than every other living human, some days she loved who she was, others he wanted to die and be born as someone else. He didn't know how he felt about himself, nothing in her was constant, except the change. She didn't know how she felt, it was empty and simultaniously overwhelming because she felt everything and nothing at the same time. She was insecure and over confident, rude and also sweet and polite.

-His boggart was being left by everyone he loved.

- There was a time in his life where she treated everyone like shit on purpose because she was convinced that everyone would leave him and some point so it would be "her choice". That didnt last and it was awful, he felt awful, she cried every day, she began to self harm and hate himself.

- She hated being impulsive and always hurting people. She hated that sometimes his mind kinda shut off and he lost control of what he was doing and saying, hated that she couldn't remember it after, he hated that on these times she always did the worst things imaginable.

- Sirius dressed fem and masc, depends on the day and what he was feeling, they wore lots of leather jackets, croptops, low waisted jeans, oversize jackets, coats and sweaters. loved something showing chest, very flamboyant and sparkly. Their color palette was black, red, grey, purple and dark brown.

- Sirius loved tattoos and piercings. She got her first tattoo on sixth year, along with Remus. She had many ear piercings, nipple piercing and a stud nose (with a ruby on it)

- The relationship with his sexuality was complicated, he always knew she didn't like women the way boys were supposed to. In Hogwarts, he did everything to show everyone that he, in fact, did like girls. Until fifth year, she just couldn't take it anymore. she did hook up with some random girls just for show (nothing sexual, he couldn't physically put themselves through that). But then he met Benjy and that's when it all changed, Benjy helped him discover who she was, what they liked, what felt good and comfortable and what didn’t, helped them with the whole gender thing (Sirius did not give a fuck, sometimes he felt like a boy, sometimes not and that was it, couldn't care less about how ppl referred to or perceived her). So basically the only people he ever had anything with were Remus and Benjy.

-Sirius found it easy to hate and dislike things and people and she hated herself most of all for it. Because good people can't hate, good people only love, good people don't get angry and destructive. Therefore, in her mind, he was a terrible person.

- Sirius felt like a mistake sometimes, like a waste of space, like he was useless and could have done more to save his brother, to save her cousin, to be loved by their family. For a long time, that was all she wanted, that's what he would see in the mirror of Erised, him being her true self in front of her family, dressed however he pleased, and their family behind smiling, supporting and loving her.

- His boggart was himself, with the dark mark on her arm. The slytherin green tie, pale skin, hair all short and well cut. His biggest fear was being evil, ending up being the horrible person the voice inside their head kept saying he was.

- His biggest dream for years was being loved by his family, but becoming what they wanted was her biggest fear. She had always been torn.

- James was the one that made them realize that her family was fucked up, that they were wrong, that Sirius was enough and that he did not need to change in order to be treated like a person, that her family wasn't worth it and that she had to let go. It wasn’t easy, it took James five long years, but on December 1975 Sirius came all bloody to the Potters, left her family behind, and began to heal.

- Sirius was unstable, as established here, he hated herself for it. Sometimes she felt like she only did the wrong thing, like she was rotten and couldn’t be fixed, like she would die being a mistake like he could never be loved and never truly love.

- Sirius just has a very androgynous feminine aura, loved to explore gender expression, and never really cared what people said.

- Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are connected by the red string, they are head over heels in love with each other, they ARE love. Their relationship isn’t toxic, its beautiful and pure and genuine and sweet, it may have had its ups and downs but they never treated each other poorly. Even when they were mad or fighting, if one needed help or comfort, the other put everything aside to come to their aid. They were always touching and holding hands and exchanding looks, their love was so strong you could feel it in the air, everyone around them could see it, it was undeniable.

Anyway, to feed my Gene obsession, do you perhaps have any headcanons of him specifically when he was younger? Could be a headcanon from a few years before canon, or even when he was a baby, but I want headcanons from when he was young 🤌🏼

BABY GENE IS SUCH A SWEETHEART i love him so much <3

when both louise and gene started kindergarten tina told them that if they were feeling nervous or scared they could always ask their teacher for her and she would be there to comfort them. louise didn't end up doing this but gene started crying and asking for tina AT LEAST seven times on his first day he was so nervous and missed his family :( his seperation anxiety was so bad that linda ended up staying w/ him practically the first week and tina after that until he made a few friends and felt more confident (but it really helped to know that his sister was there if he needed her)

bob and linda got gene's keyboard as a christmas present when he was like four but before that he would NOT STOP banging pots and pans together and singing making noise etc so they decided if he was gonna be a musician all the damn time he should at least have a proper insturment

when he was a very very young toddler he also had one of those rainbow xylophone toys and both bob and linda immediately noticed that he had a good grasp of rhythm for his age. like not great but he was clearly intending to play actual songs and notes instead of just banging like most kids do

he also LOVED when his parents sang to him like bob would sing his favorite old rock and roll albums to gene before bed and they would just rock out together :) bob was kinda surprised bcuz tina was NOT a fan of his music when she was younger lol

gene was always very jealous of tina's dolls and wanted to play w/ them. not that bob and linda WOULDNT let him play with girly toys if he wanted to or buy them for him but most of them were for ages 3+ and it wasn't safe for him to play with them. tina would occasionally let him play with her dolls if she was there supervising (as much as a four year old can supervise) and when he was old enough she gifted a lot of her old dolls to him!!!! and of course he immediately lost interest bcuz he was a toddler lol but he loved playing dress up

gene wanted to eat anything and EVERYTHING as a kid like he would eat the couch. he would eat the penny. he would attempt to eat the bar of soap. to the point that bob and linda were actually worried he had an eating disorder or something but no he just loves eating (and he likes feeling the different textures in his mouth too) so they started introducing new foods to him all the time and that mostly stopped it although not completely as we saw in that one thanksgiving episode. LOTS of books read to him about what is safe to eat and what isn't

gene would absolutely not sleep without a bedtime kiss/hug/cuddle from linda AND bob and he honestly had trouble sleeping by himself well into his elementry school years. he was always sneaking into his parents bed in the middle of the night to the point they just kinda Accepted this was their reality until he went off to college

you are starting to wake up from your...nap? as you open your eyes, you look around. your not in a room thats familiar to you, you try to sit up, but you quickly notice you can't move. your legs are tied together, in several spots, ankles, knees, and thighs. your arms in a similar matter, but only tied at the wrist.

"hey cupcake, try not to move too much, I don't want you to get rope burn"

cupcake? you look where the voice is coming from, and there Cash sits, in the corner of the room sitting on a chair. All you can feel is rage.

"what the fuck are you doing??? Cash you better untie me right god dam now."

"you know I can't do that"

"and why the fuck not!?" you yell.

" Darlin please, don't be mad, I'm doing this for us, so we can have a life together."

"what are you on??? are you saying you like me? cause this is surely a fucked up way of saying it"

Cash cringes at your response, he knew you were't gonna take this well, but what other choice did he have?

"I didn't have any other choice! you were leaving me, and I wouldnt be able to see you till spring!" Cash starts to raise his voice

"Leaving you? I was still gonna keep in contact with you over the winter! you gave me a place to stay during a really scary situation, but after this you can forget about me ever wanting to come back to this place! I mean honestly! to think I was actually developing feelings for you, makes me feel sick. where even am I!?"

Cashes eye widen. Had you really been developing feelings for him? did he ruin his chance with you? Cash was starting to feel guilty, finally realizing he might have gone too far.

"Cash?"

no. this couldn't be, maybe he did fuck this all up, but even then those feelings you once felt can reoccur. If he just does everything right, keeping you safe, warm, and feeling loved and wanted , you'll understand that you two are meant to be together.

"CASH!"

cash is forced out of his thoughts "y-yeah?"

"where. am. I?"

"oh, your in our guest house. we have a little house with the basic necessities if any family chooses to visit us.."

come to think of it, you do remember a smaller house farther down the road, but it never came up in conversation and you had no need to ask about it.

" what about all my stuff? I have a moving company coming tomorrow to move all my things to my new place"

Cash chuckled a little bit "oh darlin, its already been dealt with. i told them too load everything into a storage unit for you" Cash came closer, and sat on the bed next to you, he gently moved a stray hair out of your face.

already dealt with? What day was it? had the day of your moving already pass?

"what day is it?"

"Tuesday. I went into town this morning and dealt with everything for you...since you were still sleeping and all" Cash started to caress your cheek

you are freaking out. cash has basically canceled your plan to move, you don't know where all your shit is, let alone your cell phone, you can't move, and your stuck psycho.

Cash can see the panic in your eyes starting to build "shhh, its gonna be ok darlin... I need you to calm down, ok? it's all gonna be fine, I'm gonna take care of you." Cash gives you a kiss on top of your head and stands up "now I'll be right back ok? I'm just gonna get you some food m'kay?"

As Cash walks out of the room, closing the door behind him. you use this time to get a good look of the room your in. Its a pretty plain room, with white walls and a wooden floor, theres a mirror hanging on the wall across from you, but other then that theres nothing on the walls. theres a wooden drawer also across from you and two nightstands on each side of the bed you were laying on. the sheets of the bed where a burnt orange colour. and when you really looked, you realize some of the things in the room where from your house, like the lamp on the nightstand, one of the extra blankest was one of yours. some of the books, jewelry, hair accessories, all little things that Cash could hold in his truck. you suspect the drawer was probably full of your clothes too.

David is pissed, after your little...kerfuffle a fews days ago, David did end up coming back to your house to try and talk to you again. But he found out rather quickly that you weren't home, when he checked the cameras in your house, there had been no sign of you being around and when he checked the tracker that was on your car, it said that you were at the ranch that you work at once a week, this would all be normal... if it wasn't 6:30pm. you were always home during this time, so why not today?

David chose to give you a few days, maybe it will sort it's self out.

So David waited, he allowed you a week , and during that whole week David was freaking out. who the fuck is she staying with? Are they better then me? how close are they? y'know, the normal questions. he tried to do research on who owned the ranch, but there were no pictures or any kind of social media the rancher was on.

eventually Davids phone buzzed, it was an alert from the camera's he set up in your place, saying they have spotted movement. He never opened his phone so quickly, excited to finally have you back he could finally talk with you and sort everything ou-

wait a sec. thats not y/n, no those are two buff dudes moving her furniture....wait what? it looks like they were packing all of her stuff, what was going on??? did y/n get kicked out? who was that guy that was there? he didn't look like he was one of the movers. he was tall, with mid length, light blond hair and a bit of a stubble. he was skinny but definitely has some muscle on his arms, he seemed to be collecting a few things, things likes clothes, a lamp and other small nick nacks, but he wasn't putting them in boxes like the movers, no he seemed like he was packing it up to put in his truck.

something about this guy was making David angry.

'I bet thats the fucking rancher' David thought to himself.

after David watch these pigs pack all your shit up, David had made the decision that he was gonna come get you. even if it meant he needed to ram his car through this fuckers fence.

David packed everything he could possibly need, unsure of how tonight was gonna go. he checked your tracker, still at the ranch, he put in the location in his gps and got in his car.

after a bit of a drive he finally made it the gates of the ranch, there were camera's all around the entrance. the gate was made out of metal but he was sure a full speeding car could break through. David didn't really care if his car got recked, he had money and lots of it, if he really needed to, he could just buy another one tomorrow.

David lined up his car with the gate entrance, reversed a bit and then shifted it in drive again, and fucking floored it.

the car and the gate clash, metal on metal scraping against each other. but the car made it through, alarms were set off and now blaring. David speeds up the road and finds the first house he see's. he parks his car and starts knocking on the door of the house like a mad man.

the door opens only to reveal an old women, she looks startled and confused "h-hello?"

"wheres y/n?" David says sternly

" what? y/n? she left this morning"

"thats fucking bullshit and you know it! where the fuck is she!"

"I swear! I don't know!" the older lady tries to close the door, but David pushes past her, making her fall, she yelps in pains.

David is ripping the house apart, looking for you, it takes a few minutes to see that you aren't here, he checks his phone to see where your tracker is, its a little more up the road, he leaves the house, running to the next possible building, and he see's it. its a house but a smaller one then the one he was just in, he heads towards it.

unknown to David, the older lady manages to pick her self up and grab her phone, she calls her son.

POV CHANGE: you

Cash walks back into the bedroom with a bowl of what seems to be some sort of soup. he deeps a spoon in and then reaches the spoon out to you, he's trying to feed you.

"I'm not eating that." you say

Cash is looking frustrated with your unwillingness.

" now darlin, you gotta eat. and you know i can't untie you, so this is the your best option... plus ma made this soup, and you it's good if ma mad-" Cash was cut off by his phone ringing, he checks to see who's calling, its his mother.

"hello, what do you need ma?"

"someones here."

cash froze "wha-"

"someone is here! and there looking for y/n! I think its that creep she told us about! I tried to tell them that they already left, but he's convinced that she's still on the property!"

"I'll be right there." Cash hangs up and stands up

"now I have to go deal with something real quick, ok? you just stay here and be extra quiet alright darlin?" he gives you a peck on the head and then rushes out the door.

you didn't hear all of what was said on the phone, but you did hear that someone was looking for you. this could be your chance, your chance to get away from cash and go back to your normal life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------POV CHANGE: Cash

after the phone call from his mama, he rushed outside. it didn't take long to spot a guy heading his way. he had short black hair, slightly shorter then himself and was thicker built. But Cash had always was stronger then he looked, so he wasn't worried about taking this guy on.

"you! where the fuck is y/n!" the guy yells

"thats none of your concern" Cash spoke

"I know she's here fucker, and I know you've been keeping her from me!" Cash was a little surprised by that, how would he even know that? did y/n tell him some how? however he found out, it doesn't matter, what matters is getting this guy off the ranch.

Cash takes the first swing, punch the dude right in the face, and quickly uppercutting (is this the right term?) him a few times in the stomach. this dude pushes him off, hits Cashes knee so he falls to the ground and then slams his fist into Cashes head... a few times.

Once David had nocked blondie out, he turns towards the small house, he can see your car parked behind the building. he rushes inside and starts calling your name

------------------------------------------------------------------------------POV CHNAGE: you (are the pov changes too much?)

you hear someone ram through the door and start to call your name.

"y/n?! Y/N WHERE ARE YOU!!??" you realize its David thats calling for you. how did he know I was here?

not wanting to stay here any longer, you call back to him "I'm in here!"

soon after you shout, David practically runs through the door, quickly scanning the room landing his eyes on you. "oh baby!" he rushes towards you untying your ropes. "what did they do to you?"

"I'll tell you later, lets just go!" you grab Davids hand and rush out of the house, you see your car, but you have no idea where your keys are.

"I have my car, its just down the road!" David takes the lead now, running towards his car. thats until someone grabs your other hand, its Cash. his face was all bloody, so was Davids but Cash was more so, and he had a firm grasp on your hand.

"Darlin, don't let this creep take you! don't you remember what he did to you? please baby, just come back inside and we can talk this out" Cash looks at you with soft eyes, if you still had feeling for him, it would be a tempting offer, but this man kidnapped you and tied you up... so you kicked him right in the balls.

Cash crumbled to the ground groaning in pain, he had let go of your hand from the pain. you took this opportunity and run with David to his car.

once you both get in, david slams on the peddle and starts heading towards town.

you felt relief, but it was quick to turn into a new kinda dread. Cash wasn't a problem anymore, but a new one arose, David.

"where are we going?" you ask

"home." David answers simply. you had this feeling he didn't mean your home, but his.

you started to think about how much it would hurt if you just jumped out of the car. it would give you a chance to get away from both of the insane men in your life, and slowly you started to reach for the door handle.

"don't you even think about it." David speak and is quick to grab your hand and keep it in place.

"I already lost you once, I don't need to loose you again." David softly smiles at you.

...

it was silent in the car for a bit, until a question popped in your head.

"how did you know where I was?"

David shuffled in his seat, clearly uncomfortable with the question. "it doesn't really matter how, just that i did."

"David. how did you know where I was"

" it's really not the impor-"

"David."

"FINE, fine...I have a tracker on your car."

you were shocked, not expecting that to be his answer. you rest your head in your hands and start to laugh while crying.

"oh my god! haha, it wouldn't have mattered what i did, did it?" you say

"what do you mean?" David asks

"what i mean is, I willing chose to stay at that ranch to take a break from you. so i could get some fucking sleep and not have to worry about you showing up randomly at MY home! the plan was to stay at the ranch for a bit, find a new place to live and move. and i did find a place to live and I was suppose to be in my new place right fucking now! thats until Cash went... the point is, even if i did move, you would still know where to find me and you would still have knocked on my fucking door bagging for a second chance! I wasn't gonna loose you like i planned..." after going off on your little rant, anger started to to fill you, you slip your hand out from Davids grasp and start hitting him with all your might

"ow! y/n your hurting me!"

in between every word you spoke you would hit him once more "you. ruined. my. life!"

David was quick to pull over the car, not like you noticed you were too busy trying to give him what he deserved.

"I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YO- MMMHF!!" before you knew it, David had grabbed a cloth and put it against your air ways, you were suddenly feeling very sleepy, and shorty after, everything faded to black...

am i the only one that doesn’t have hope anymore? like at all? i don’t trust the duffers anymore and i feel like us(the bylers) created all this byler thing in our heads and we just looked too much into the details in the show :(

i dont blame you for not having hope bc volume 2 for byler definitely was a disappointment and i understand not wanting to look between the lines of the monologue and get hopes up only to be disappointed again but DO NOT think we just made all this up!! if byler doesnt happen i genuinely think that it was their plan originally and then they trashed it.

its not like theres two or three potential hints towards it. there are dozens and dozens of clues and subtext from the dialogue and actions of the characters but also the cinematography, the lighting, the score and tracks they use, the parallels to other couples on the show, the placement of their characters, and probably so much more we havent even noticed yet. we did not make anything up.

after volume 2 i wasnt that sad or mad because more than anything i was just VERY confused. because none of mike wheelers actions make sense unless hes deeply struggling with internalized homophobia. there will be genuine plotholes in the whole show if they stick with mlvn til the end.

lets look at mikes actions alone. can you answer ANY of these questions with an answer thats NOT related to his sexuality?

why did mike not let el touch her when they were kissing at the beginning of s3?

why did he say “its not my fault you dont like girls” if thats not projecting?

why did he say he loves her out loud to everyone else but then pretend he didnt know what she was talking about when she brought it up again?

why did he look so confused when el kissed him and said she loves him and why did he keep his eyes open and didnt kiss her back at all?

why didnt mike have any indication of even having a gf in his room besides the letter we saw him read, while el had a whole shrine and a “book of letters” from him? why did, instead, mike have wills drawings up all over the basement and has a while binder for them that we saw in s1. book of drawings.

WHY on earth wouldnt mike hug his best friend who he hasnt seen in months at the airport? its not because he knows wills feelings, the duffers and finn and the script itself have confirmed hes oblivious to his sexuality and feelings for him.

why did mike look so nervous to ask will about the painting? if it was just because their friendship was kinda dying i think he would have said it as if he was bored or didnt care but instead he looked like he cared a little too much and was trying to hide it. this is right after reading el’s letter that said that will might be painting for a girl.

why did mike barely even look at el as they were walking out of the airport and why did he wear something very different for mike as if he’s portraying someone he’s not?

why would mike emphasize so much “WE’RE FRIENDS!!! we’re friends!” will didnt mean it in a romantic context but mike took it that way.

why was mike kinda an asshole to el and didnt comfort her after the bullies at the rink? “she didnt look fine?” what the hell.

WHY COULDNT MIKE SAY OR WRITE THAT HE LOVES EL!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT SCENE IF HE ACTUALLY GENUINELY DOES LOVE HER??? why didnt he say it right then if he did?

why was that “i feel like i lost you” scene so god damn flirty? he’s never looked at el the way he looked at him here.

why did he nod when will told him that its scary to open up to people especially if they dont like the truth? why did finn say that this “psyches him out”?

why did mike say “its not fate, its not destiny, its just simple dumb luck” about first meeting el and then claim to her that the moment he say her in the woods was love at first sight? we know that this is a blatant lie and will should know this too.

why did mike look at will like THAT during the painting scene!!!??? (i will admit tho this could be finn wolfhard just wanting his character to be gay so he plays him gay but they could have used shots of him not looking at his lips but they kept them in.)

WHY DID WILL HAVE TO PUSH MIKE TO CONTINUE TALKING TO EL!!!!!???? HE WASNT GONNA SAY HE LOVES HER BUT WILL PUSHED HIM INTO IT!!!!!!!!

and thats just his actions alone!!! now lets look into the more technical film choices theyve made when it comes to mike wheeler. again, can you answer any of these questions with an answer thats not related to him having internalized homophobia?

why did they make it clear that max and lucas at day of the dead were having a date (“im spending romantic time with my girlfriend”) and then choose to place mike and will together but not with them, as if mike and will were on a date too.

why did they film mike and el’s break up in s3 so playfully and humorous with bright lighting, lots of colors, an audience, max and el laughing, and fun music after vs mike and will’s fight which was very dark and blue, pouring rain, harsh shadows, and played an emotional original score track?

WHY the eye witness parallel?

why would they frame mike in a closet in s3 during that awkward unreciprocated kiss? this is the biggest thing by far for me that makes me think he’s gay for sure.

why did they frame mike reading el’s letter so that theres a literal fucking one way sign pointing to an open closet?

why did bouncy upbeat music play when he and el reunited at the airport? they could have made it emotional but they made it light and playful as if its more friendly than romantic.

WHY DID THEY PLAY A TRACK CALLED “IN THE CLOSET” WHEN MIKE STARTS SPEAKING!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT WILL!!! this is also right after he said “we’re firends we’re friends!!” no its not just because el is in a literal closet here, the track starts during mike and wills fight.

why did they play a track that is EXTREMELY similar to the track eulogy during mike and el’s fight, a track thats only played when someone dies.

(emotional, tender music). why. its only used in romantic contexts. we see it used with byler, lumax, jopper, and once with mlvn when theyre at the pizza place.

why did they frame will out of focus in the middle of mike and el when they reunited!!? at first i thought this was just to emphasize will’s pov but now im thinking it might be more symbolic of will getting in between mike and eleven. he himself isnt doing that at all though, quite the opposite actually- he keeps giving mike relationship advice and hes the reason mike told el he loves her, so it must be in reference to how will is disrupting mike and els relationship because of mikes feelings for him.

why did they keep will in the frame when mike said he loved her? the only other time we had a similar one on one emotional monologue delivery to someone was in s2 when joyce, jonathan, and mike were trying to reach will and mike told him asking him to be friends was the best thing hes ever done. that was shot as if there were no one else in the room it was very centered around just will and mike, whereas this monologue shows will in the same frame as mike as well as will and jonathans reactions to what hes saying.

and lastly, WHY did they frame every couple so dramatically paired off together in the final shot while el was all alone. joyce and hopper, mike and will, and jonanathan and nancy. theyve done this in the past but this was the first time they made it excruciatingly obvious.

damn i wasnt gonna list out every thing i know when i first started answering this but thats what i ended up doing. anyways, again, i understand giving up considering how disappointing volume 2 was, but absolutely no way was it all in our heads. look at all that.

i still have hope just for the sheer fact that not only mike wheeler as a character, but all their film choices surrounding mike wheeler make no fucking sense unless hes gay and DEEP in the closet.

Ah, you know, thank you for this. 🥹 they are my hobbies, and I need to learn not to minimize them or apologize for liking them. (Old habits, it comes with growing up the way I did and being told that liking comic books and Star Wars and "living in a fantasy world" was making me weak) But yeah I mean. It's not disappointing to like reading, or art, or video games, nor does it make someone a loser.

(I need to remember that)

I love to draw all kinds of things, I have a sketchpad filled with stuff from reference/still life, I like practicing drawing flowers, I actually sometimes like drawing smut/ shibari and if I ever actually posted that online I'd tag the models I referenced... not even in a horny way but there's something wonderful I find in shibari or fetish stuff artists that they challenge you, in drawing in a pen and ink medium, to workshop how you adapt poses, musculature, lighting, all that stuff.

And I have a lot of superheroes.

When I was a kid, all the way up to about 17, I wanted to be a graphic novelist, make my own comics that were like just my teenaged brain firing off ideas I'd sponged up from a lot of X-Men and a LOT of Toonami. I didnt go on to become a comics artist, in fact, due to being discouraged by my dad and others (...but, well, my dad) I sort of came to the conclusion it was childish ("cute lil cartoons," they were derisively called) and let my gift atrophy. I drew nothing.

So in coming back to it, slowly over the last... ten years? Ive gotten back in to art.

It's not the same as it was. Sadly, it can't be, that fire I had when I was young was well. Stomped out.

So I cant make panels, and I struggle with transition and movement from one panel to the next to make a story flow, and sometimes it feels like I draw OTHER people's heroes like Spider-Man like I'm a fucking cover band at a dive bar playing KISS.

But I've still worked on it, and grown a lot over those last ten years, and found a peace in it that yeah, idk, maybe it isnt what I wanted to be when I was young but it's still art, dammit.

So yeah, sorry. Im wordy and it was complicated to answer but you kind of put a dime in and got me talking about it so. My sketchbook has lots of microliner ink drawing, some flowers and still life, some smut, some X-Men cover band stuff, just stuff I want to challenge myself to draw.

I'm also determined to experiment more with color like my copic markers this year so.

Video games I play are really a lot of single player open world stuff, Im currently grinding on um.

...fallout4 OKAY DONT JUDGE ME, I am of the specific brand of gamer that finds some peace and comfort in going back to Skyrim and Fallout from time to time...

I would love to get in to games with other people but I wouldnt know where to start, or what to pick up, frankly, but that is a kind offer and one I'd be interested in maybe perhaps at some point

I take it back... I did have a coop farm in Stardew Valley I played sorta multiplayer with my friend from CO but... our friendship sort of died off and we dont Stardew together anymore... fuck Im sad now.

let me preface this by saying you did such an amazing job with this truly, you wrote so so well and i feel like you encapsulated every perfect emotion in the best way possible, and somehow it just gets better and better? i forgot how pt 1 went so i reread it before i read pt 2 and i was blown away again but youve even improved somehow ?!!? youre like the gift that keeps on giving 💋 also, thank you so so much for pushing through and writing this, i know it couldnt have been easy struggling with writers block but i hope u know we all think the world of this fic so please see the worth of your work 💗

ok now MY THOUGHTS!!! oh my lord, where to begin… first of all, same as before: from part one, i was already irked with jake when he pulled the beomgyu shit (albeit i moved on pretty damn fast surprisingly) but the cliffhanger you left us on was a game changer like he crossed the line so bad. i was conviced i would never forgive him. if someone did that to me i would have the exact same reaction as y/n tbh. anger later sad confusion panic first. and seeing the aftermath in part 2??? first of all, so glad she had such a good support system around her and people who actually put their morals first aka 02z bc u already know men irl would defend their “boys” first or whatever 🙄 hearing other girls gossip about her actually broke my heart cos if it was me i wouldve cried n had a panic attack there and then … and knowing my PARENTS know about it 😭😭😭

i think me personally, i wouldnt have been able to forgive him but i wouldve tried to move past it, despite how hard it would be. whether or not we get together would be a different question because rebuilding trust would take a lot, but,, yeah. overall i am soooo fucking satisfied with this, and the ending was so refreshing tbh!!! at first i was hoping they wouldn’t get together (literally when they kissed again i was like NOOO GIRLLLL WHYYYYY have more self respect!!!!) but after your slayful writing i was like nah u know what give them a happy ending,, n u did not disappoint,,,, i loved how it ended and that fresh start at the end was really like a breath of fresh air i have no idea how to explain it but it just genuinely did feel like a fresh start. i loved it. i will be rereading. thank you

this was insane praise like omfg thank you so much! i always have such a hard time wondering if what i wrote is good enough to put out for you guys and to hear you say that is so meaningful to me 😭 the writer's block def was a bitch but hearing you say that you could see that I've improved makes everything worth it like i'd go through it again if it'll help me get better at writing im crying literally 🥹

so the whole time i was writing this last part i had a hard time deciding if oc should forgive him or not because personally i would never be able to but i just felt that the only way for this story to wrap up well and in a satisfying way would be if it was a happy? ending so i ended up just going with that and yes one of the main things i wanted to show was that everyone was rooting for y/n so i made sure no one excused jake's behavior

the scene where she went back home was kind of tough to write like i totally get you i get really emotionally invested even when im writing and jfc just imagining how my parents would react literally had me going through it like her dad was devastated and i think it really shows to what extent one person's actions/mistakes can effect cause this shit not only broke her down but also most of those around her so those scenes were def tough to write

but i am so so so glad to hear how much you enjoyed the ending and overall this story! you seriously just relieved me of so many of my worries regarding this story and i always feel like the best compliment is when people tell me they'll reread my stuff so thank you so so much for sending me this ginormous message and hope I'll continue to produce stuff you like! love you loads 🫶 🫶 🫶

my thoughts in a nutshell: "oh no hes just like me fr"

ok i dont really review books or anything, thats my friend's job (cheeky promo alana_the_bibliophile on instagram) nah yeah but this one was just so good.

firstly, as a neurodiverse bi trans dude i related so hard to Malcom (the main character) with the overloads and insecurities and just everything. i may or may not have to get this entire transcript tattooed upon my person cos it just hits so close to home in places i didnt even realise until the book brought them to my attention.

like the whole thing about Malcolm not going after things that will make him happy (Peter) just cause he feels like hes so fucked up ± messing something up on purpose before you can mess it up by accident vibes. i literally said (in a squidward impression cos that is important information) "oh no hes just like me for real" out loud on a bus (but it was a loud bus so no one heard) (hopefully). also another thing, Peter telling Malcolm about his auDHD and what he likes + dislikes about sensory stuff. and Malcolm believing and respecting him. i just. its such wish fulfilment. that along with the rest of the story, its all just wish fulfilment. having multiple queer and neurodiverse friends that help you when youre struggling and will beat up your unsupportive family members. (also having a dude think youre hot. wouldnt mind)

secondly, it was just a good read. like i really enjoyed reading it, which hasnt happened for a while. it made me smile and laugh in public (which i never do). fr i was having a giggle on the bus, in class, in doctors waiting rooms, everything. i actually looked forward to reading it as well and i had to trudge through other stuff just so i could get back to it.

lowkey gives love simon vibes (from what i remember of the book when i read it in like 2018), just chock full of natural and believable sounding dialogue and references to things im sure ill actually like. (in my notes app on my old phone i went through the book and wrote down all the references made in love simon and it was pretty extensive (and now i have to do this for this book. oh no guess ill have to read it again oh this is so sad whelp better start now see ya)).

and like the friendship between the characters, the dialogue never felt too forced and they talked like actual people id talk to. swearing at and bullying your friends is a love language and it was done pretty well in this, and also the sending of memes being like an important step in a friendship is too real. also the revival of interest in records, my cousins poor bank account is a testament to that being relatable.

thirdly, the story. we got enemies to friends to lovers, we got 'there was only one bed', we got a road trip, we got a sickfic, and so much more and you know that i ate it up every time.

that as well as the epic highs and lows of making friends in your 20s (lol).

the book follows Malcolm slowly becoming friends with this irl dude Peter while falling for this 'mysterious' radio host Rebo, with his friends supporting him the whole time.

like i dont really go for romantic style stories but this was just so good (but then again ive barely read anything since back when i used to inhale books at like age 12) + the chemistry between Malcolm and Peter was just chefs kiss so good man.

also, the name Goby (one of his friends) kinda got me tho ngl, gobby is australian slang for… something, and i got a jump scare whenever they showed up lol.

Edit: they Goby on my Gumby till I Cheese. I'm so fucking sorry I had to write that down I couldn't get to sleep.

the only bad thing about the book (not that its bad bad, just like if i had to pick something) would be that the ending was made out of like 3 epilogues with indeterminable time skips between them. unless i missed something idk. im just more about the 'the characters kept on living' kinda ending, less 'albus serverus potter' style stuff, not that it was even like that tho.

but also wanting to own and run an incredibly specific cafe+store with your partner is just so fucking gay. oh my god. fanfiction shit right there /pos.

lok remake idea without the rant

the legend of korra will get more episodes and filler content to showcase the krew interacting more and mako and bolin will get training from korra in fire and earth bending traditional forms which will help them improve ( though mako will still be the more talented bender of the 2.

korra is meant to be aangs opposite so how about korra training the bending members of her krew in contrast to how aang was trained by his gaang

regardless lok will end with makorra getting back together

1. the lok remake with asami being an equalist spy

I feel they planned on asami being an equalist spy but changed it when they got to the episode where it was supposed to be revealed with hiroshi but changed their minds without going back and changing anything they wrote beforehand.

( I dont get why asami wouldnt know hiroshi hated benders

“she would serve as a foil to Korra. Asami is rich, traditionally feminine, and when she and Mako meet she showers him with praise and lavish offerings. Korra’s a tomboy, doesn’t come from money, and she and Mako are constantly snarky toward each other. I think it would work well if when it was revealed Asami was a spy, Mako would have an epiphany where he saw the girl who really cared for him and liked him for him was actually Korra all along. it would have made the love triangle resolution a lot smoother, and given Mako a clear choice on which girl he should be with, even if it was an easy one.

Where asami was just a sweet girl needed to be specifically punished for mishandling the love triangle. mako had just given in due to lonelinness and didnt want to lose asami since in his eyes he lost korra and bolin and him grew distant

As Cousin Tu said in Remembrances, Mako’s afraid of disappointing people and ends up inevitably disappointing everyone in his attempts to avoid disappointing anyone.

I don’t think he had feelings for Asami. I think he was really surprised when Asami kissed him the first time, but hoped that would be the end of it (he seemed really uncomfortable about it, to be honest).

Of course, that didn’t happen, because Asami was still looking to get back together with him (likely because of the instability in her own life). He didn’t really seem to respond until the scene immediately preceding his arrest, and even there, it took a lot of pushing to get him involved in anything romantic.

And so, I think Mako was more motivated by the desire not to upset her than because he thought she needed him. Of course, that just meant more hurt feelings in the end, but that didn’t mean that avoiding hurt feelings wasn’t what motivated him.

It seemed to me like Mako was reacting instinctively to situations as they came up. So, when Korra was gone and Asami was pushing to spark something, Mako was concerned mostly with losing/upsetting her (possibly exacerbated by him feeling like he already had lost Korra)… but when Korra came back, his fear of upsetting/losing her again overpowered any feelings he had towards Asami.

also introduce in b4 izumis daughter maybe have a scene where she gets a crush on mako but having solved his problems with emotional conflict and avoiding conflict he out right rejects her softly ( in book 2 when asami kissed him he looked uncomfortable with it an was glad that she didnt follow up he was so afraid of dissapointing people he couldnt even say no to asami (plus he was still hurt about breakup and wanted stability ) so mako learned ho w to say no and that sometimes in life you end up disappointing people that doesnt mean you will burn bridges

mako rejecting izumis daughter would represent him growing past his flaws of being so afraid of disappointing people he hurts everyone an example of maturity ( optional instead have the scene be mako sparring with iroh and izumis daughter and winning paralleling how korra first appeared winning with fire bending like how korra first appearance in b4 after the fight reminded me of makos first appearance )

possibly have a conversation with katara about losing his parents at a young age and having to raise his sibling ( it would just be nice to see the krew (

maybe explore how there is triad spies in the police department and due to makos history some people suspect he is one or want to use him as a scapegoat ( an part of the reason mako did well in truth because mako kept to himself and focused on his work not socializing with his coworkers it prevented information from being leaked out when he got into a case

also have mako gain some special fire bending type or color like dark fire that dragons spewed along with the others like dark fire being the fire bending equivalent to the technique that unalaq used ( an possibly fire bending technique to help break from psychic bloodbending ) a spiritual fire along side blue fire

also change amons appearance as an adult so he would have a darker skin tone like he had when he was a kid ( possibly amon and korra would be related to each other given how kid amon resembled korra though I may be imagining things

also have the krew actually have bonding moments together expanding upon lok

and fire chakra deals with willpower and is blocked by shame have an arc where mako deals with his shame regarding his work with the triads (and in remake make it so while bolin worked the numbers mako did as well he had seen people be killed by triads and is partly ashamed of not doing anything (

which leads to makos growth as a firebender ( maybe gaining a new type/color of fire which allows him to break out of bloodbending grip and keep bloodbending from effecting him maybe this will happen in b1 or in b3 ) ( maybe getting new types of fire it will be in a form of a dark fire which can also affect spirits like what that water bending technique can do but in a different way ( to go with water being fires opposite

and he can use the same fire to break the bloodbending grip when he uses that fire it breaks the benders control over his body or any of the elements in it ( all he has to do is release the fire from his body to break free . ( it can be focusing on that fire and when he releases it the bloodbending grip is gone it can be as small as fire breath or focusing on special fire to effect his body through chi I remember )

I would explain that mako was able to get a bit free from bloodbending grip due to amon focusing on the lieutenant ( and amons emotions got in the way

and later on he awakens spirit fire ( ) which enables him to break free of a blood benders grip or burn spirits I mean Japan associates fire with purification so there being a spirit fire to purify your body of a benders attempt to control an element in your body and to purify poisons makes sense

( actually it would make sense for mako to awaken this power in between b3 and b4 due to his desire to help Korra )

( I mean bolin gained a special branch of bending ( him being the only one who uses it ) so why not having mako invent one

which is what happened with katara and toph)

or mako could expand lightning bending to more electro bending

like being ableto imbue his fists with electricity anddo something like restart someones heart with lightning and reading the bioelectricity in someone’s body to tell when someone is lying/predict their next move during the b4 time skip he can tell when someone is lying

(I mean it is a skill that I can imagine would fit for a detective and something batman would like to get ( lots of people joked about lok being in Gotham and then compared mako to batman due to their backstory )

which I can see but he also has similarities to katara

I saw some of the fandom reactions to Mako before watching tlok and after watching the first few episodes I was a little annoyed at how not terrible he is. When I think about the things that happened in the first two seasons I interpret it as him honestly not knowing what to do as opposed to wanting to be hurtful. He hasn’t had a parent since he was 8 and his only companion has been his little brother. Of course he knows nothing about communication or conflict resolution.

And Bryke just kept introducing potentially compelling storylines between Bolin and Mako and doing nothing with it or playing it off as a joke. The bending bros aren’t getting along in season two? We could’ve seen that the tension was due to Bolin wanting to be Mako’s brother and not his son and Mako not knowing how to let the dynamic of their childhood go. Instead, we got Bolin letting fame go to his head. Bolin decides to adopt Kai and mentions eating out of garbage cans. We could’ve seen them acknowledge the traumatizing nature of poverty and how both boys are projecting onto Kai in different ways, but no. Bolin’s just a goof, so funny. If Mako had to be a cop he could’ve had disagreements with Lin that lead to him explaining that something needed to be done to address poverty, because if there weren’t so many poor kids in the Republic City then the gangs wouldn’t have an endless stream of new recruits. We definitely should’ve seen Bolin genuinely concerned about the prospect of Mako going to prison, but stupid jokes were a better use of time I guess. So. Many. Missed. Opportunities.

Biggest change to the initial setup? No Prince Wu. Instead of an obnoxious overgrown child of a Prince, our heir apparent is introverted, lacks the confidence to refuse just about anything, and is terrified of being in front of crowds. He’s the (implied-to-be illegitimate) child of a distant relative of Hou-Ting and a Republic City citizen. Oh, and he’s all of ten years old. In other words, everything about him screams “Raiko chose this kid as a convenient puppet” (instead of offhandedly implying it once and forgetting about it as was done with Wu). All of the time Wu wastes on comic relief in After All These Years is used to explain the political situation: the prince is a figurehead meant to display the trappings of royalty and legitimize Raiko’s chosen advisors. Kuvira’s supporters hate him not just because he’s royalty but also because they think he’s essentially giving the Earth Kingdom away to an imperialistic foreign power. Mako’s there to protect him both because Raiko ordered him to and because he’s one of the few cops the prince is comfortable around; as such, Mako actually feels bad for the kid and wants to protect him. (This prince is legitimately terrified by the scary adults throwing pies at him and bursts into tears as soon as they’re out of harm’s way. Mako comforts him and makes him feel a little better.) Korra Alone is close to perfect and stays pretty much as-is, albeit with Korra’s loss in the Earth Rumble ring being far less embarrassing – she gets some hits in, and the end makes it even clearer how distracted she was by Dark Avatar Korra. The Coronation follows up on the political changes. Instead of being all excited about how awesome he thinks the ceremony is going to be, the prince is afraid – of being on stage (Mako assures him he’ll do fine), of being king (Raiko assures him that his advisers will do all the work), and of Kuvira (Raiko assures him that she’ll step down). The prince thanks Kuvira and lets her speak the way Wu did in the show, except that it’s sort of implied that he’s looking for an excuse to not have to stay up at the podium for longer than necessary. Kuvira, of course, uses the opportunity to take over… and specifically points to Raiko’s use of the prince to control the Earth Kingdom as a reason why she’s justified in doing so. (The prince hides behind Mako when this happens. =( ) Some of the time saved by not having Wu freak out about the loss of his throne is used to show us the meeting of the world leaders, where they talk about why they think Kuvira is dangerous (she’s very with-me-or-against-me) and what they can do to stop her (not much as long as she limits her ambitions to the Earth Kingdom).

The Republic City part of Reunion is way more tense because Team Avatar are looking for a terrified kidnapped child instead of an aggravating jerk. (The prince still gets to ask Korra to go into the Avatar State because he wants to see her eyes glow, but it’s actually kind of endearing since he’s a little kid.)

and we could have cute moments with korra and mako taking care of kid wu

also we can make it so mako has a good rep among the orphans

It is a touch weird that the moment Bolin and Mako get some actual characterisation, suddenly people dislike Bolin and accuse Mako of hijacking the show.

One episode devoted to a policeman attempting to crack a conspiracy does not a hijacked show make, particularly Korra’s business will probably eat the rest of the show. Mako’s finally got something to do beyond just being Korra’s bf/probending… and people are complaining about it?

Also I’d wish people’d stop calling Bolin “Sokka-lite”, he’s his own character and he might be more comic relief than the others he still has a personality of his own. Mako treating him like a child probably didn’t have the best effect on him, both making him kind of act childish which in turn leads to Mako being dismissive of him. Just saying that there’s actually a reason for why he acts as he does, rather than just “lol look at the funny guy!”.

Considering how, even in the previous season, Mako’s inability to take his sibling seriously or accept his help lead to him being abducted by Equalists, it’s not really surprising that Mako wasn’t really quick to react when Bolin ended up in an abusive relationship. He probably chalked it up to another of Bolin’s “wacky hijinx” and chose not to get involved when really, if there was a situation that required his surrogate parent touch, that would have been it.

I don’t know, I think that they do have unique personalities between the two of them, and their actions do make a degree of sense within the context of the show. Mako treating his brother like a child and dismissing him lead to Bolin being more open to being manipulated by Varrick and the movie star lifestyle, for example.

Can’t help but think that Mako really makes these problems for Bolin, both by treating him like a baby and dismissing anything he does as childish, which leads to Bolin making stupid decisions as he hasn’t really been allowed to make adult decisions or take responsiblity for stuff. Which leads to him falling in with gangsters when he attempts to help Mako raise some cash. Or dating an unstable and violent person. Or getting confused as to what the concept of “acting” is…

I like the characterisation within Legend of Korra, the behaviour of all the characters makes sense within the context of the show itself, just like with Aang and the characters in Airbender. Of course Korra would be a little arrogant, she’s know she was special from a very young age, but that doesn’t make her a bad person. Of course Kya would be more “free spirited” than her brothers, she has neither the responsiblity of continuing the Air Nomad culture like Tenzin nor the need to overcompensate for a lack of bending like Bumi.

Actually, come to think of it, parenting and how it can effect a character’s personality seems to be a theme running through both the two shows. Korra’s isolated childhood made her kind of naive about how the world functions, just like how Mako’s babying did the exact same thing to Bolin.

Mako and Bolin are actually working out to be pretty interesting. Which is actually pretty good going for characters pitched just as comic relief and “Zuko without the angst”.

where mako trains in the traditional style of fire bending under zuko and its brought up that while probending is good and all probending abandons the spirituality and development of the traditional styles)

and have mako and zuko talk

so the meditation would lead to his development ( maybe mako and zuko have talk while Korra is bed ridden and zuko offers to guide him and be his fire bending teacher since mako felt guilty since if he was stronger he could have taken out the water woman much earlier)

( maybe his part of remembrances with some focus on his issues which would lead to his thoughts on korra and how she inspires him)

( its mentioned that mako and bolin in b1 have begun to eat more nutritious food ( mako especially always made sure that bolin got food more often then him when they were on the street)

and mako began to train his body more to learn how to fight without his bending so he trained with korra after bolin was kidnapped.

mako turning down zukos granddaughter after the timeskip remembering zukos talk about how makos flaw being so afraid of disappointing people he disappoints everyone and while wanting to not hurt people is good sometimes the desire to do that can hurt more people

mako realizes its best to straight up turn her down immediately for not doing so may cause a situation where he caused her more pain.

like how if he just turned asami down when she kissed him or when she asked him out for a date rather then avoiding it due to desire to not hurt her the pain she would feel would have been lesser then it had been in b2 finale etc

and mako and korra could have the talk which makes it so that mako was helping korra even before tenzin came in while asami completely failed in helping/supporting korra

I’m not sure I’d get the time to write a fic, but I can definitely analyze the way the conversation might have gone.

So. First things first: Mako would have been a bit more confrontational initially. He definitely wouldn’t have used tea as a pretext to get her to talk; instead, I think he’d ask her, “Is there something wrong? You’ve been really distant lately and I’m starting to get worried.”

That, I think, could lead into an explanation for the only-writing-to-Asami thing, which would be really valuable in terms of Korra’s characterization. Mako could confirm that he’s willing to support her no matter what, and Korra could agree to try to let him in more.

From there, the conversation would move back onto the same general track: Korra’s thinking about what Toph said, and it’s really weighing on her.

“I’ve just been thinking about something Toph said. She told me that the world doesn’t need me and it’s basically pointless to try and stop Kuvira.”

I think Mako might actually ask whether Korra was mischaracterizing Toph’s philosophy – “Are you sure that’s what she meant?“ If he did, I think the conversation would go down a much more productive line much faster, because he’d get Korra thinking about why Toph said what she said (ie. she was challenging Korra to push back against the idea that all human efforts amount to naught) instead of framing it as too ridiculous to consider.

It seems unlikely that Mako would be able to work in a speech like Tenzin’s (though I suppose his thing about how much she inspires him could be repurposed to that end =) ), but I think he’d be much more effective at guiding Korra away from unproductive lines of conversation (“am I a good or bad Avatar?”) toward the issues that were really bothering her (“how should I understand what Toph said?”).

Whether it slowly rots in Mako's head or not, is never addressed. If he's mad, he doesn't show it. If he distrusts them, he doesn't show it. If he lives with the idea that the people he cares about don't care about him, he doesn't show it.

It's just dropped because at the end of the day, no one actually cared about it. That's just sad.

I suppose. XD I wouldn’t exactly call Mako a Zuko Expy, though… at least not more than I’d call him a Katara Expy. He’s “the firebender” like Zuko and “the one forced to grow up too fast” like Katara, but he’s definitely his own person rather than a copy of either of them.

Looking at Mako and Zuko’s respective indecisiveness, for instance, it isn’t coming from the same place at all.

Zuko’s indecisiveness was always a sort of nature-vs.-nurture sort of thing. Zuko’s innate temperament was good and he had a functional conscience that told him not to do bad things… but he was brought up in an environment in which it was impossible to gain the respect from his father that he so desperately desired without doing bad things. His inability to commit comes from his own clashing desires and was resolved when he realized that he might never get validation from Ozai but that was okay.

Mako’s indecisiveness, on the other hand, is much more other-centric. Most of the things Mako struggles with involves a situation in which someone is bound to get hurt no matter what, and he’s forced to decide which response is the lesser of two evils. He has one primary motive – to avoid causing pain – but it’s in conflict with itself even when there isn’t a second motive for it to conflict with.

That difference, I suspect, explains the differing audience reaction, too. Zuko’s conflict is a rather masculine, Hero’s Journey “confrontation with the father” sort of thing, while Mako’s is decidedly not.

mako never needed to go through the suffering that zuko did during atla during lok ( mako did suffer and go through hardship since his parents died before lok began

people had ignored that and just saw him as the guy with 2 girls who are attracted to him etc and only started to like him after he had gotten stuff taken away which is annoying

but maybe give it a dark twist in that the gangsters did have toza killed ( but when bolin wasnt looking ( the confrontation did happen but they said that toza would have to stay away from those boys in exchange claiming they dont want his bad influence

and while mako was away from them they would tell mako to kill toza in exchange for never harming bolin and letting them go this would be a source of guilt and blocking the fire chakra for mako

you know it would be interesting if makos lightning bending evolved so he could read the electrical signals in the brain ( at first he had to touch someones head) but eventually he could read them by just standing there at first it was just being able to be a lie detector ( I mean he would be the 2nd police officer member of team avatar ( toph so why not create a fire bending equivalent to lie detection)

maybe in the scenario where asami was an equalist spy he would think about that when he heard stuff about bio electricity after overhearing varrick/bolin talk about something varrick said.

and after some training ( like sometime after b4 he trained that ability so he can read a persons moves before they do them ( right before)

which would parallel the smooth moves that amon pulled where he subtly bloodbent people as they fought to guide them ( which is a theory I had seen)

since amon and his brother can foil/parallel mako and bolin ( heck amons brother was once cute and soft reminding me a bit of bolin )

amons fake story to mako’s real story

and in the b4 remake ( keeping the past volumes same ) he just got stronger to keep up with korra for he feels if he was able to take down the water arm lady sooner korra wouldn't have gotten captured

or mako just remains the same level of strength

( some of the ideas above will remain the same for the full lok remakes

1. a book 4 remake ( fem wu) and then a full lok remake with asami as an equalist spy ( kid wu)

2.a full lok remake where asami remains the same ( kid wu) and in this one we have asami go back to republic city due to business concerns ( like she had an arrangement for a meeting and korra agreed that she doesnt need to come with them and can leave when its too close for comfort . ( so we can keep some of korra and asamis friendship scenes) or some other excuse to separate her from the krew so kuvira can come in

3. where we keep the lok remake with a equalist spy even though we don't get a b4 remake . (kid wu

I know it would've change the story a lot, but imagine the level of emotional investment in Korra/Kuvira B4 conflict, if Kuvira was actually the reversed Zuko of new TA. She starts as lawful police officer, travels with the Krew to Zaofu and gets literally possessed by Su's ideas of progress in B3.

Kuvira as a member of Team Avatar would have been amazing. It’d have definitely added a ton of weight to Book 4.

I think her backstory in Zaofu is pretty important to her character, though, so I can’t see her joining the team any sooner than Book 3. So here’s what I’d do, changing as little of the first half of the show as possible:

Turn Asami into an airbender. This would create a perfectly reasonable transition point for Asami and the Fire Ferret trio to go separate ways – she’d leave with Tenzin to go to the Northern Air Temple in In Harm’s Way. That’d leave an empty spot in Team Avatar as of The Metal Clan. Introduce Korra and Kuvira early in The Metal Clan. Maybe she’d come over to Korra after Su introduced herself but before Su called Korra on her lie – she’d tell Korra how much the change Korra made in the world inspired her, and maybe express a bit of frustration that Su didn’t mention that she was her foster child. Have Kuvira assist Su in teaching Korra to metalbend – say, Su uses Kuvira to demonstrate techniques on, or something, then has her go back to her guard duties. Involve Kuvira directly in Team Avatar’s search for the traitor. It’d be a good way to show how aggressive she can be towards people who betray her trust, as well as give her more of an opportunity to become closer to the team. Have Su send Kuvira along with Team Avatar to find Aiwei. This is the real changeover – from here on, she takes much of Asami’s role. Korra and Kuvira are the ones who stay behind when Mako and Bolin go into town, giving them more time to talk. Kuvira’s the one Mako sends off with Korra on Naga. This requires some rethinking in regards to their capture – earthen barriers aren’t going to mean anything to her. I’m thinking they get taken by surprise and the Earth Queen’s forces threaten Naga (offscreen; Kuvira tells Korra about it when she wakes up). The adventure in the desert goes differently (the escape would be more about Kuvira being an unexpected metalbender in a metal airship than about the airship being a hunk of junk), but it offers a good opportunity for Kuvira to be a bit overly willing to do nasty things to the airship crew and Korra to hold her back. If Korra still ends up frying the sandshark, Kuvira kind of calls her out on it. ;) The fight on Laghima’s Peak goes a bit differently – Kuvira doesn’t get thrown off the side by a combustion blast incidentally, but instead jumps over the side purposefully in order to save Tonraq. Kuvira wants to go to Republic City to make sure Korra’s going to be alright, but Su tells her she can’t. Cue a very similar Book 4, except that Korra is a lot more invested in Kuvira’s fate, Bolin has a better reason to side with her, and we’ve already seen some of the characteristics that define Kuvira, like her aggression, inability to deal with betrayal, and her issues with Su.

It is a touch weird that the moment Bolin and Mako get some actual characterisation, suddenly people dislike Bolin and accuse Mako of hijacking the show.

Mako and Bolin are actually working out to be pretty interesting. Which is actually pretty good going for characters pitched just as comic relief and “Zuko without the angst”.
