Whenever I see christian discourse get ugly, I always wonder if the perpetrators ever ask themselves if they are actually bringing people closer to Christ, or if they're pushing people away.

If anything, unkindness and focusing on winning just pushes others away. Both those involved in the conversation and those non Christians watching.
