#there's something really beautiful about experiencing the weather patterns of a new place#where i live now. its not like where i grew up. not like the foothills of Appalachia but its more familiar than the Chihuahuan desert was#when i go home to ohio everythings so green. so green. unimaginably green and the towns are in the woods. the hills roll#and trees billow deciduous and packed so tightly the treeline is like a wall of plant matter. here there are trees but they are tall and#evergreen. patchy in places like shrubs in the desert. the grass grows green but also pale tan and dead. houses are routed in valleys#between mountains. they're made of wood and not stucco but they still look strange and the landscape is crumpled together tall. and there's#water. it rains. days can be dreary and gray with drizzle. i forgot what thats like. when a single low stratus cloud blocks out thewhole sk#and fog clings to the trees. my school bus used to drive by a lake where thr fog was so thick i didnt kno how the driver could see the road#but somehow i forgot how much joy suspended water vapor gives me living in a place where when it rains it pours so hard the streets flood#and the greedy ground drinks the landscape dry. but there are new things as well. here smoke rolls up over thr mountains and gets stuck in#the valleys so that the weather forcast reads: Smoke for days on end. im used to tornado warnings and heat warnings and dust storm warnings#but ive never expected Smoke as a type of weather. and im sure there's more to experience. ive only been here like 3 weeks. its not as gree#as home. the storms dont seem to get quite so violent. the woods are so full of bears that its an active threat. but its not the desert#and while ill miss the shapes of desert plants and little lizards. when i look up at the pine and spruce trees i feel like i can breathe a#little easier. well see how i feel once the long cold winter sets in haha#but i dunno. part of me still longs for a violent thunderstorm. one where u can feel the temperature drop and u csn feel it building all da#one that bends the trees and smells like ozone. it was never like that in thr southwest and im not sure that happens here#but maybe thats just a desire for chaos and violence as a product of my pathological internal control. i cant be spontaneous so let nature#bring the fear to me. some of my favorite memories are watching lightning strikes#so it goes i suppose#unrelated#listen. is it fucked up to have ohio nostalgia? maybe so. but in my defense i grew up in the pretty part of ohio lol

I need, in my life, Post-Indigo Disk, Drayton being the only one who realizes this chick who fell out of the sky because of Celebi—who has brown and green hair in a weird pattern that suspiciously resembles two people he knows—is Kiki and Juli's future daughter
Drayton: Hey, don't you think her hair looks kind of...interesting?
Kieran: It's the same shade of brown as Juliana's <3
Drayton, standing in front of him: Okay, but what else?
Kieran: ...
Kieran, who was watching Juliana tell the girl about Miraidon: Well, I'd be able to tell you if you weren't blocking my way!
Carmine does catch on, but a part of her thinks it's funny to pretend that she doesn't get the very logical conclusion he's pointing out because it's so rare for her to be the one with the upper hand??
It gets better when the girl catches on to what Aunt Carmine's doing, and she's like, "sorry, Uncle Drayton, this is for all the times you played a prank on me. Aunt Carmine's my favorite now <3"

❝ Wh-Oh. Of course. ❞ She fell silent at the question. Pondering two things. How to break it to Donna in a way that would spare her from the pain, and how to spare herself. Not a day passed that she didn't think of the library, it's endless row of houses and identical playgrounds, it's mundane ordinary little happenings where nothing ever changed and no one ever left. Life like that changed a person. No one could understand it. Except perhaps, for another who had lived it. Come on Song, time's ticking.
Well, she supposed the best approach was to be upfront about, rip off the proverbial band-aid. River swallowed, ❝ She's gone Donna. They all are. It was either that or allow the virus to corrupt them. The firewall was already weakened by a previous attack it's a long story.❞
One she couldn't bring herself to repeat just yet. One day, she'd be ready to tell the whole tragic tale. For now, she was sustained by the memories she kept of everyone she had lost. Charlotte dragging Miss Evangelista into one of her many games in the front yard, everyone on the back porch in the evenings enjoying the summer breeze, they lived on in her mind alone. She held back the well of emotions threatening to overwhelm her, forced a brief smile and pressed on.
❝ You should know, Miss Evangelista never forgot your kindness. She mentioned you, before she passed on. She said that if I saw you again to thank you on her behalf ... ❞
@isbrilliant ❤'d // accepting.

quick question friends do we think it's cute when dog owners repeatedly fail to keep their dogs in on their land and let their dogs wander up and down public mountain trails unattended for years despite the ordinance in their town stating they cannot do this all while becoming state icons? because personally i think it's neglect.

you should do Weekend in Western Illinois for the ask game you posted!
Thank you so much for the ask!! This is very hard right out of the gate 😅 I love this song a lot & it has so many great lines! Okay so I think my favourites are
'Yeah they howl as though the world were ending
As we are watching the sky unwinding'
Because I think that they perfectly encapsulate the gradual sort of descent into near-apocalypticism that happens as the song goes on. Like, you could interpret the first few lines of the song as straightforwardly romantic - it's about two lovers, on a hot summer's day. But then all of these elements start creeping in that seem kind of out of place - wait, why are they bleeding? What do you mean you're going under?
& then by that final chorus all of those elements have combined. The dogs that have been present throughout the song are no longer happily rolling on the lawns, they are howling as though the world were ending. Things are GOING WRONG. 'We are watching the sky unwinding' is also so so evocative, I don't even know how to put it into words but it gives me Feelings.

seb. seb bard wataru and secluded noble eichi as their cnstars exclusive cards au
!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes yes yes yes yes Ohhh I can see it I can see it
I'm gonna put this under read more because this could get longer
Wataru as a traveling bard and Eichi is a noble that lives a kind of isolated life dur to his weak constitution and Wataru comes by Eichis castle or mansion or chateau or whatever fancy piece of architecture he occupies and Eichi hears Watarus music and comes to the window and they have a moment of eye contact and initially Wataru doesn't think much of it and travels further after he played a few more pieces for Eichi -because of course if the audience enjoys it then the entertainer shall entertain for that is his job - and so after that little private concert is over he travels further. His eay leads him this small town that's not so far from the fancy piece of architecture, because I like to be a little cliché, and there he hears all sorts of rumours about the mysterious nobles that live in the...I'll just call it a mansion now it's a chateau-adjacent mansion. Any ways those rumours catch his intrigue and he decides to stay in the town a little and he stays at an inn maybe and he pays him rent by playing music for them in the evenings,,,
Oh and maybe this is where he runs into Yuzuru! He's on the street just observing and he sees this elegant and very pretty looking young man and he doesn't look like someone from the town but he also doesn't have the air of an aristocrat about him and he catches some older women gossipping about him and apparently he's a domestic servant of the strange nobles that everyone seems to be a little scared of because they never seem to show their face anywhere.
Maybe he tries to strike up a conversation with Yuzuru or maybe that process repeats multiple times but eventually he decides to snoop around the Mansion a little and maybe he runs into Eichi again,,,
And maybe he gives him a few more private concerts or magic performances I reckon he does those too and the intrigue grows and grows and by now the people in the town know Wataru by name and sometimes he gets free food gifted by them and they're still a little wary of him because he just appeared one day and nobody knows where this strange man with his birds and his heavenly voice came from but he seems to be nice so they come to like him.
And Yuzuru picks up some of the rumours about this strange bard that pays his room at the local inn by playing songs for the patrons in the evenings and sometimes helps out the elderly i the town and he notices he's seen this man before playing music outside of their house so of course he mentions these rumours to Eichi and Tori who in turn are intrigued and a little sceptic respectively.
When Wataru appears the at Eichis balcony the next time Eichi actually initiates a conversation with Wataru and that continues over the next few visits as well and eventually they go from "Bard" and "My Lord" to "Wataru" and "Eichi" or still "My Lord" but this is different though it's the same as when Wataru calls Eichi emperor it's more teasing than a formality you have to imagine a grin in his voice as he says that. Tori and Yuzuru have no idea about most of these visits because half of them are in the middle of the night (I imagine it a little like the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet right right).
And so they grow closer and as the time passes Wataru starts to actually settle a little in the town. The room he was renting at the inn is pretty much actually his room now, he could've moved out but he lives on a good deal and the older couple that runs the inn treat him like their own son now (he doens't even have to do shows every evening anymore, just sometimes a week) and pretty much all of the regulars know him personally now and on a first name basis (nobody actually knows his last name). This is the first time in forever he's stayed at one place for this long and it's all just because he has taken a liking to this feeble-ish blonde aristocrat that looks at him like he hung all the stars in the sky up by himself.
He still only knows Tori by hearsay and Yuzuru just briefly - somehow they never ran into each other when he was there during the day - But Eichi has joked about introducing them properly before.
in my mind there's this one specific image of Eichi and Wataru standing on his Balcony and they are both on opposite sides of the railing and it's the middle of the night and it's chilly so Eichi has his blanket draped over his shoulders because that's the sensible thing to do when it's cold and Wataru is standing on the opposide side of the railing, kind of standing on the edge of it and leaning more over the railing into the space of the balcony where you actually stand on and they are being disgusting in the way that they're flirting and maybe they also kiss a little,,, maybe,,,, because I want them to,,,,
And sweet innocent Yuzuru only hears about things between Eichi and Wataru via the rumour mill when he goes to run errands on the market and hears that the bard from the inn has been seen in the evening multiple times as he's walking the path to the mansion of the nobles nobody really knows. And he hasn't been back until the early hours of the morning. And so Yuzuru tells this to Tori. And they're both too awkward to ask him straight out so whenever they hear Eichi humming a tune while he does... whatever it is rich people do. They just look at each other and the question is in the room but nobody knows how to break it and they come to just. the weirdest conclusions because nobody in this house communicates like a normal person.
And maybe sometimes Eichi sneaks out to visit Wataru in the town (the first time this happened he put on a really big hood and changes his voice a little so it would be harder to recognise and actually caught Wataru off-guard for once). Watarus birds like him too...at least most of them do.
I like to think he once had to explain to Tori why he smells like bird and it was suuuper awkward because there aren't a lot of ways to talk yourself around having to explain that the night before you were basically turned into a pigeon nest and it took you and your bard-kind-of-boyfriend-but-also-not-really-but-you-have-something-going-on-you-just-don't-really-know-what-to-call-it-because-that-topic-has-been-successfully-avoided spent a good 20 minutes trying to get all the feathers out of your hair and clothes. Tori didn't buy his excuse but it made so little sense that he doesn't really think he wants to know either so he choses to live in ignorance for once. (when he does meet Wataru he remembers this and suddenly it all makes sense because Wataru also smells like birds. He choses living in ignorance was good while it lasted.)
After some more time of being acquainted with Wataru Eichi and Tori decide to also show their faces in the town for once and both parties have to warm up to each other and it's a little off for all involved (Wataru and Yuzuru are the only people who actually know both sides personally) but with the time the general unease regarding the secluded nobles ebbs out a little. There's still people who don't like them but it's civil still because they like Yuzuru and while they think Wataru is a bit strange they have come to like him as well and why provoke unneccessary comflict when you can just decide not to interact with those people.
I could talk sooooo much more but I don't think anyone actually wants to read this much or cares for it so I will try to stop now but just. Eichi bringing the traveling bard Wataru to settle down and "tying him down to humanity" by keeping in one place and Ohhhhhhh you can even have something EP:Link-esque in this like. Eichi is convinced Wataru will leave him eventually because he's a free spirit and tying him down would be unfair or impossible or something and Wataru gives him...I dob't know maybe not a mask but his instrument or something maybe a mask works too because he would probably still be a bard the man has to make a living somehow but symbolically the instrument would work better. But yes and he gives that to him and tells him "this is me and I offer this to you" and Eichi still doesn't get it so at their next redezvous it's like. the second part of that converstation where Eichi had to accept that Wataru wanting to stay is the only logical explanation left and he has to accept that and ooooh there's layers to this there is actually layers to this I'm so,,,,,hehehehehe,,,,laughing ecstatically and clapping my hands,,,,

#ok. so the guy from school i visited emailed me today like: good news! we unanimously voted to extend u an offer here#so expect the formal offer in the next week. and im like uuuugh i wanna say yes so bad#bc in the us i would have more flexibility in the program than i would in the uk#and my options in the us r either to b a big fish in a small pond at this schoolor a little fish in a big pond at the other#bc this school is underfunded and a bit isolated out in the mountains but the staff r pretty great and big egos dont seem like a big issue#but if i go to the other school its like a big well funded school. the application was like 75 dollars. fuck u and really annoying#and i mean id have to live in new jersey. so in the city with city driving and prob a more high pressure school environment#and more of a chance of dealing with big egos. but like career wise im sure it would b good. assuming i don't mentally collapse#but i mean that doesnt seem as fun as spending 5 years out in the rocky mountains#like thry have fucking moose and bears! there were deer and turkeys in town!#and my dad just sent me a video of all the spring peepers singing back home and im like 😭 bc froggies and he was like i bet u could find#frogs out in [redacted city] and im like 😭 ur right. it just seems like the better choice for my poor overtaxed brain and the project is#so cool too. i want to get the cyano species as my computer background asap. and the guy is nice and apparently super supportive#and i could probably walk to hiking trails. god. i mean i have to say yes to that. i wanna say yes so bad. send me the formal offer bro#ill fucking take it before i even hear back from the other schools lol. ugh. i hate making choices#oof i am so excited to kno where im going and plan my departure. its gonna b such a pain moving tho i pray that my mum or dad can drive#with me bc otherwise the 20hr drive by myself might kill me. thats almost as bad as my initial move out here lol. the us is so big#ugh. again choices. is this the right choice? probably one of the biggest decisions of my life. the project feels so right. cyanobacteria#my algal group of choice. and hot springs. how tf do u say to no to that? i mean. id b doing that in new jersey too but with red algae#ugh. put me out of this misery lol. also as an aside. shout out to my fucking disaster brain for not being able to focus on a single thing#my boss in a meeting: so glad to have students and staff so excited to b working on this project!! me: lady i hate that im on this project#bc im just sitting in until they can get an actual student. i just do what im told but appreciate the enthusiasm lol#ay. im so tired. i wanna see the snow and mountains. and fix my head. and get outta the desert. and listen to frogs 🐸 😌#unrelated

not to expound upon the political implications of fandom every chance i get but noel gruber is revolutionary gay representation because he wants to be fucked up and evil and it is so disheartening to see transformative works where they act like his wants and personality are character flaws. roadblocks in the way of the most conventional and milquetoast gay romance story ever put to word document. which isn’t terrible but the fact of the matter is noel gruber exists to say not every gay person wants to be normal or wants to have a normal easy heteroimitative life. marlene dietrich was a bisexual woman who endured mountains of hardship on every level and did important things and made important art. jean genet was a writer and activist who lived on the fringes of society doing survival sex work for most of his youth. liberace was never *out* out and was torn apart relentlessly by tabloids about his life. these are the people he canonically admires, he wants to be a starving artist and live a fantastic, queer, risky life that offends and challenges the mainstream. not because he is too naive to want a normal quiet life, but because he was raised in the bosom of the most banal, sterile, conservative small town existence he could have possibly been in and knows for a fact he wants the complete opposite. queer assimilation to the heteronormative standards of life has been a powerful tool in our survival, yes, but the point of that is to survive to make a world where that isn’t necessary anymore. the ease straight white cis abled society offers is one that exists at the expense of those who do not fit it. that is why the girl is fucked up. in a perfect world she shouldn’t have to be any other way.

anduin has apparently been missing for three years when dragonflight starts, after he was corrupted and traumatised by the jailer’s domination magic, and i can’t stop thinking about the idea that he’s spent those few years with annika and keeshan.
#txt#ch: annika dobrovski#like!! ok hear me out!!#annika was left traumatised after BFA when she was corrupted by the old gods#and so following the war's conclusion she and keeshan left the alliance and disappeared into the wilderness to attempt having a normal life#with only a handful of people even knowing where they ended up settling (somewhere in the mountains of the middle eastern kingdoms)#and anduin was definitely one of those people#so when he goes through a very similar experience with the jailer and almost fears who he is now he first starts aimlessly wandering azeroth#after leaving sylvanas behind in the maw#until one day he hears something about annika (maybe a war story told over drinks in a tavern somewhere)#and Immediately packs his few things and heads off to where he knows she and keeshan settled#cut to a few weeks later - annika sitting in her small garden planting flowers with her a five year old ivana#when her worg natalya suddenly bounds off into the trees and freshly-melted snow howling#only to return moments later trailing behind a sullen haunted looking anduin#little ivana standing with dirt on her cheeks and asking who he is#and annika just slowly standing - brushing her hands clean on her pants - and smiling a small sad smile of understanding#anduin is barely holding himself together after everything that's happened and so when annika quietly walks up to him and places a gentle#hand on his arm and asks if he's okay - he just folds her in a hug and starts to cry#that night once keeshan's returned from town with a 3 year old nessa - he and annika agree that anduin can stay as long as he likes#ivana is constantly asking him questions about anything and everything - and many of the books in the dobrovski household are crayon-marked#and the whole house is covered in wolf fur and is just a little too small for three adults and two young children#but it's the first time in a long time that anduin's felt like he has a home! a real home! probably since his dad died honestly#and so he happily helps with chores and goes with annika into town and hesitantly drinks ale with keeshan on the front porch#and lets himself heal from the trauma he's experienced#idk idk idk#i am having so many thoughts and feelings rn and None of it is coherent because hardly any of the moots care about wow#anyway sorry for wow oc posting on main 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡#oh and also#f: dobrovskis

▸   @oddlies   ⟶   ❛  ❛ i’m not a loser. ❜ -Hugo to Craig!  ❜   ╱   (  spongebob musical , accepting .  )
“Yes, you are,” Craig states as if it’s the plainest fact in the world, as if it’s 2 plus 2 equals 4.  It’s been a couple of weeks since the newest addition to South Park moved in, and the children have been observing him from a distance, making note of and gossiping about all his idiosyncrasies.  And they have been able to draw only one conclusion: the guy is a weird loser nerd, and the redneck jock types in town will tear him to shreds.  Really, Craig is just preparing him for the worst.
“You’re even more of a loser,” he continues in the same matter-of-fact, borderline scholastic tone, “because you care what a kid thinks of you.  If you were really cool, you wouldn’t let the opinion of some kid get under your skin.”

Man, I have such a clear image of like. The map of where one of my stories takes place, but if i even tried to put it to paper I'd fuck it up so badly
#like. there's this coastline that's kind of all juttery and stuff and it very gently dips inland down south but goes almost straight and#slightly outwards in the north and about midway along the coast in the east there's a little jut-out where there's a port#north of the port there's these steep cliff faces and down south they wear down into rolling hills and slim sandy shores#the east cape of the continent is up north just off the map by maybe 25000-27000 kilometers. west of the port there's the capital and north#of that is a small old mountain range#the capital is made up of limestone and brick buildings with 4 floors and a network of huge gears and weird pulley systems throughout. they#kind of look like they're almost leaning on each other and the further toward the edges of the town you go the more it looks like the city#home just sprouted in the middle of a storefront or an inn or something overnight#the town square is set up in the ruins of this ivory castle and taken up almost completely by stalls with colorful awnings. it has dark#cobblestone streets surrounding it and no pavements ending where the forged iron and brimstone walls of the administrative buildings'#front gardens begin or branching off further into the city down streets with pavement either side#there's a foundry on the edge of time by which most locals are employed. it has it's own dedicated train line which connects with the#station further south-east. the manors and estates outside of the city have lush forests and red brick walls closer to the residences of#workers and the nobles inhabiting the land#anyways. i'll probably workshop my beloved little steampunk city more later these are just like. notes to get down the image of it i have#in my head because it's so pretty. the stalls in the square look like colorful wild flowers from above <3#boo rambles#unrelated
