by David Strain | We love the book of Ruth because it narrates the delightful romance of Ruth and Boaz. We love it because it is full of delicious irony meant to make us laugh for joy at the goodness of God. We love it because it is a tale that focuses not on the exploits of warriors, judges, or kings, but on two destitute women trying to find a path back to wholeness...

i want to convert to christianity but like
i have abusive parents who won't let me properly convert at a church or go there and hit me if i tell them i want to convert
they will also not let me stop doing the usually worship at my house which i am required to do daily
any advice? and could you recommend some christian literature which i could read online in english for free?
thank you!
Hello, dear friend! I apologize for the delayed response but I also rejoice in the Lord Jesus that He is drawing you to Himself! This is a wonderful thing, that you are beginning to have your eyes opened to the Truth and are being saved from the past, my prayer is that you will see God for the riches He is worth and that it would cause you to be bold.
I do care a great amount for your safety though, my first advice is to pray for your family. Pray that they would have their eyes opened to the Truth, pray that they would at the very least allow you to attend a local church, and pray that God would soften their hearts.
Additionally, do what you can to show them the works of Christ within you, read the New Testament first and listen closely to what God has to say.
Some biblically sound literature I read the most is Ligionier Ministries
Ways to Learn at Ligonier.org [Here you will find a lot of teaching videos and articles to grow you in your faith]
Way of the Master by Ray Comfort [Another teaching series that may be easier to digest and understand than Ligonier ministries]
Above all, I would focus on reading the Bible as it is the Word of God and is honestly all we need to grow as Christians, the other teachings are great to have but nothing is as great as the Bible. It holds all authority since it was written by God [the men who wrote the books are simply instruments of God, think to a man using a pen to write, the pen didn't write the book with all its ideas, but the man did. In the same manner, God used human hands as writing instruments to write His book. Listen well to it, it is without error.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16
I will be praying for you, if there's anything you question or need, please don't hesitate to message me. God bless you

What Was the Reformation All About? from Jorge R. Canedo E. on Vimeo.
500 years ago, a German monk named Martin Luther started a protest that exploded into a worldwide movement. So what was the Protestant Reformation all about? I had the privilege to work with Ligonier to answer that question, and what more fitting time to do it than 500 years after those 95 theses were nailed to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church.

“It is not to be expected that we should love God supremely if we have not known him to be more desirable than all other things.” So wrote the great hymn writer Isaac Watts. And of course, he was quite right, for we always love what seems most attractive to us. Whether it be God, money, sex, or fame, we live for and love what captures our hearts…

“Many people teach today that the blood of Jesus covers all sin, regardless of whether the sinner repents or not. This is satan’s great  lie.” ~Billy Graham

If you’re struggling to find a starting place when studying theology, here are some of my favorites. Keep in mind that none of these people are infallible and should never replace your own bible study and discernment, but rather just a helping hand:
Desiringgod.org
GTY.org
Ligonier.org
Gotquestions.org
Wretched.org
With Wretched, I want to point out that they have started putting their radio shows on Spotify and their TV shows on Prime (only a few episodes though), but it’s all archived on their website. Otherwise, you can go to their YouTube channel if you want shorter segments
If you want an in depth analysis, I also highly recommend Mike Winger’s YouTube channel. He really commits to his research and is probably one of the most level headed people I’ve come across. He’s very calm and has mastered “telling the truth in love”
There are plenty of theologians I enjoy reading or listening to and plenty of other youtubers I watch, but these are always my basic starting points if I’m presented with a new question and I’m digging to find an answer.
And as always, feel free to ask me about any of these or specific topics. I’m more then willing to help answer your questions or link you to some resources!
