As a person with ADHD I am ontologically incapable of picking Just One Thing but I'll do my best!!

Ai: oh my god she melts my brain too much to pick just one thing!!! If you really put a gun to my head though I would have to say her warm, persistent kindness in the face of a life that has often been abnormally cruel to her. She always goes out of her way to be kind to people even when it has absolutely no benefit to her, just because Ai is a deeply kind person that even abuse and neglect couldn't tarnish. She understands loneliness and abandonment to such a deep degree that even when she can't exactly understand the ins and outs of why or how other people feel the way they feel, when she sees people suffering or in pain, her instinctive response is to reach out to them and try and make sure they feel heard even if she can't actually do anything to ease their pain. For all the BS she says about calling herself cynical, people hating and all the rest of it, Ai is such a deeply and actively kind person to such an incredible degree.

Also her fangies. Can't forget the fangies.

Aqua: Aqua Hoshino Is The Funniest Guy In Oshi No Ko And He Doesn't Even Know It. This sort of falls under the more serious header that is the cavernous gap between Aqua's stated goals and intentions and the reality of his actual feelings that often slips out via his actions but more specifically I'm obsessed with the hysterical comedic gap that is Aqua larping as Light Yagami during season 1 of Love Live. Like ugh yeah I have to kill my dad but what am I gonna do, NOT wear matching TWINS tshirts with my sister? Or shit like him being the one to go and get his copy of Sweet Today and start paging through it while Ruby and Miyako watch it and then immediately tattling to Kana that Ruby talked shit even though he toooootally doesn't care you guys :/// Mfer dressed up like a buff chicken and did a squeaky voice for a week because he can't handle having a crush on Kana!!! HE'S THE FUNNIEST GUY IN THIS WHOLE SHOW AND NOBODY UNDERSTANDS Ruby: The way Ruby's history as Sarina - or I guess more specifically, as a person who grew up both disabled and under a toxic mother - informs her zest and energy is soooooo sweet and tender to me, but especially in the ways in informs her deep, deep love for Ai as her mother. The inheritance of Sarina's despair and its transition into Ruby's joy and empowerment is such an incredible and powerful beat - I watched episode 1 with a friend last night (hi Silvie!) and the scene of Ruby realizing that she no longer lives in a body at risk of betraying her at any moment and that she has a mother who loves her and values her happiness and positive growth over all else is still one of the most powerful scenes in the whole story for me. The way that realization of euphoria and power continues to form the foundations of her arc going forward is a big part of why the first stretch of the manga is still the strongest material to me.

Kana: my little failgirl <3 Kana is another one of those characters where I could say a lot of deep and introspective things about her incredible resilience, her intelligence and determination and the way she continues to try and make herself big in a world that has only ever operated by making her feel small but the truth in my heart is just that I think she is the funniest bitch on the planet. If Aqua did not exist she would take the crown as Funniest Character In Oshi No Ko. The consistency with which she takes Ls and gets fed her own hair emotionally speaking (UH AND LITERALLY I GUESS BECAUSE I WROTE THAT JOKE AND THEN REMEMBERED THAT SCENE WITH THE DIRECTOR) just really gets under my guard and makes me fucking lose it every time it happens. I'm a simple guy, ok? Memcho: Mem being a woman in her early 20s and the perspective and emotional intelligence that comes with that experience, especially when contrasted with the teens, is soooooo fascinating to me. In general it's just really refreshing to see a girlie in her mid 20s in an anime still being portrayed as just as fun and cute and silly and energetic as the teens; anime in general has a really bad habit of having two ages which are Teen and Middle Aged Adult but Mem just feels like an actual person in her mid 20s which is SUCH a nice change. I also just think that, like I said, the way her emotional intelligence contrasts the kids who are still going the fuck through it as teens experiencing huge, fucked up emotions for the first time in their almost-adult lives; Mem's a lot smarter and sharper than folks give her credit for and it's always so interesting to see her snap into 'adult in the room' mode. The fact that this doesn't at all interfere with her friendship with Kana and Ruby is also really sweet - I actually do not remember ever seeing one of these age gap friendships in an anime that didn't come with some weird maternal overtones but the way B-Komachi's friendship kind of supersedes and makes their age gap a non-factor really reminds me of my own friendships like that - both when I was Ruby's age and had older folks looking out for me and now that I'm Mem's age and some of my besties from my real life DND group are babies LMFAO

Akane: The way OnK portrays Akane's acting technique is really fascinating to me! This is maybe a bit of a silly comparison to draw but I find that I weirdly relate to Akane and the way she portrays characters because I've been doing some form of online text roleplay or another since I was licherally 11 years old and the way she talks about like... sewing up internal inconsistencies and reverse engineering a character's thoughts, feelings and general worldview from their portrayed actions, making connections between aspects of their character that may be unstated by the text but make your portrayal cohere and feel richer and more vibrant. This is literally exactly the way I handle writing canon characters right down to the unhinged canon review, to the point that it is a running gag between me and my friends that Akane's serial killer ass Ai research session is Literally Just Me when I'm doing my Oshi no Ko canon review. It's about the weirdest and most unexpected way I have ever felt represented by a piece of media LOL Miyako: The absolute character development W this woman had!!! Admittedly I feel like the glowup is only so strong because Aka clearly had a very different Miyako in his brain when he started writing Oshi no Ko vs the one she actually became but I still absolutely love the ways Miyako grows over the series and how smart, competent and fiercely driven she is when given a reason to motivate herself. I don't have a huge to to say about Miyako just because she so effortlessly speaks for herself but God I Love Her. Ichigo: i just love it when a guy is a faildad to a fucked up teenage girl There we go! Admittedly this wasn't Everyone and I mostly just stuck to the main cast I had strong enough opinions about to voice but! If you knew someone's going to die soon, would you still fall in love with them?

When Beyond Birthday meets Light Yagami, the former has seven days left to live - Beyond, who was born with Shinigami eyes, can tell people's lifespan just by looking at them. The main issue is, Light Yagami also develops some feelings towards Beyond. And Beyond, who always avoided getting attached, doesn't like it.

Old fic comes back, just with new flashy title and Beyond's letters to Light added as an reoccurring element (cursive part). Besides that, it haven't changed much and if you read it before the reupload, there aren't many major changes.

My abandoned Benedict Society/Death Note crossover, the sequence I have to share with you where Milligan joins the Yotsuba-Era Auxiliary Squad, Part 2 of 3, where the character-study scene-setting of the previous gets hairy. Milligan is reasonably astute, but very partial, which proves a dramatic combination.

Part 1

"You've lost--" Milligan noticed he was gripping the arm of the new leather sofa a bit hard and realized he had probably reacted rashly. There were several more innocuous scenarios under the header of losing L and Watari that might occasion a formal meeting in this ordinary apartment. "Forgive me, I'm unsure what you mean."

"It is exactly as it sounds," said Soichiro Yagami harshly. Milligan noted that the tea the man had laid out for himself was completely untouched. "Last week, November the fifth..."

Light looked down, his eyes hollow. "Heart attacks."

It was as though the ground he'd walked on had been off-kilter with the world and he was only now feeling the tilt. Had it been even two weeks since the night in the studio with Kyosuke Higuchi pinned to the ground? Since he spoke with Kate and the others, fresh from the fight and barely bothering to hide his triumph?

"We couldn't keep it from you forever," Light continued, leaving his seat to walk toward the window. "In point of fact, we need every hand we can get, and you're one of the few we know can be trusted."

Soichiro Yagami and his son. Even if someone else had met him here, there was no one else remotely qualified to take the helm, with L and Watari cold and dead (for a week) on the deck. But if it were the Yagamis, that had to mean...

"The rest of that few hail from the NPA, no doubt."

Soichiro coughed uncomfortably. "Wedy and Aiber have been offered a permanent place in the investigation as well. We have agreed that, if talents such as theirs exist, they are best put to a noble use."

It didn't sound like a decision that sat right with him. That left Light, then. Milligan was glad they had the uncommon sense to defer to him in this crisis, in spite of his youth and his shabby treatment. Altogether decent, and made Reynie Muldoon look like a dunce; even Nicholas Benedict might be hard-pressed to keep up. In fact, he was only a hair shy of L...

Light Yagami. Milligan was fairly sure that was his real name. How...

Ah. There was one unfortunate way that immediately occurred to him.

"The other survivors?' Milligan asked.

"No one else was harmed that night," said Soichiro, sounding as though failure to be murdered by Kira had judged him and found him wanting.

"No one on the task force - not even Light," said Milligan. "If Kira wanted to eliminate the threat to himself, and I can't see any other reason that L... and Watari..."

He closed his eyes a brief moment.

"Well, he patently missed a spot. Light, you and Ryuzaki are very nearly on the same level (please disregard my tense trouble; this matter is somewhat new to me.) He... did lack a certain amount of moral fiber, which you do not, but then Kira can't really care very much about right and wrong, not if one such as Mr. Higuchi was appointed to..."

"Milligan."

Light had turned from the window and fixed him with a hard, flat stare.

"Don't talk that way about Ryuzaki."

"Forgive me," said Milligan, hushed. "The point is, it sounds..." He hesitated a moment, then plunged ahead. "I don't believe that Kira began by investigating the task force."

"Hmm?" said Light.

"Those of you in the habit of using your real names, alive, while L and Watari..." He nodded again to himself, seeing no alternative. "It would seem that their identities were betrayed in some other way. Some other connection, in their long and eventful history. Do you know," (he said, making light as possible of the fear that had gone to the very bottom of his stomach over the past two minutes), "I think I may be of service again. There are mutual contacts between L and myself that might make a good starting point."

"Mutual contacts," repeated Light. "Let's discuss this in depth, at a full task force meeting."

"Light," said Soichiro. "Do you believe this angle could shed light on... ah, parties unaccounted for?"

"About that, we know too little to say anything," said Light simply. "I have to say even the contacts are a long shot, going by Wedy's and Aiber's histories, but Milligan's are still worth a look. I guess it's possible the matter of the missing party--"

They heard a key turn in the front door.

"Light!" sang Misa Amane, sweeping the door to the wall to accommodate the passage of an elaborate lace hoopskirt. "Why didn't you tell me we had a guest?"

"Ah, Miss Amane." Milligan bowed his head. "A pleasure to see you here."

She beamed. "Oh, Milligan, the pleasure is all mine. Light has asked me to live with him, you know!"

Milligan blinked. The last he had known, Light had been positively scrambling for a way to convince her to stop pursuing him. As a motive, love struck him as immensely less probable than psychic shock. "Well. I can see that you're well pleased, but... Light, don't you think you're moving a little fast on this?"

Light looked Misa in the eyes and smiled.

"No. I wouldn't say that at all."

Fashionably late as usual, Matt slipped on his headphones before sitting down at his sanctum console. Benedict might get after him for playing bootleg Last Phantasy during study hours, but there was nothing preventing him ripping and listening to the soundtrack.

"-log, get him here now." said a voice in his ears. A girl's voice, very American, deeply agitated.

"What's this?" he said into his mouthpiece, as though talking to himself.

Silence, then: "All right. I hope this is Analog, but if it's Matt or whoever you are, pay attention, get a notepad if you have to, I'm not up to saying any of this twice."

Right. His Spot Suite on Number Two's place. Kate, that was the girl's name. It had taken him so long to catch up because it was a tone of voice he'd never expect from her. Raw. Brittle. But you got that in case files all the time.

No need for conspicuous scrounging; he could skip back to any recorded timestamp and get it straight to Analog's ears... after his own were duly scratched.

"Early this morning, Sticky... no, that's not the place... Reynie, Milligan fell out of contact three days ago. That's why Sticky was on the phone early in the morning. Contacting every hospital in Tokyo. Or he meant to. His idea. I'd never... and his Japanese is light years better than mine, and he even remembered to ask for Morgan Heathfall - you know, those ridiculous fake IDs we got last year?

"Well," said the voice, shakily, "we were right about Tokyo. And about calling hospitals, too. They say he died there, Reynie.

"Milligan. Dead."

A pause, then a muffled sound that was probably the girl screaming into her own hand. Then a longer silence. Then:

"No. I can't stop there. Because Sticky didn't, he had to ask for more, and this it it: he was in the hospital because he was struck by a car. At a crosswalk. By accident. In broad daylight, that's what the time was in Tokyo. Milligan was...

"Can you believe that, Reynie? Can anyone in the world believe--?

"I mean Analog. You're Analog. Of all the times to forget--

"Analog. I don't know why he died. I really don't know how. But I know one thing. It was Kira. Don't you think? And I know something else, too.

"I'm qualified now. For Wammy's House, I mean. I'm an orphan, and I am going to detective school, and Kira, Kira is going to wish he was never born."

as much as i dig my purple theme, i kinda prefer theming my blogs around characters and Nagatoro...doesn't...give me the narcissism vibe (or maybe she does? kinda, haven't watched it in a while tbh)

just brainstorming characters ignore me

-Mizuha from fnae: I do hc her as a narcissist, but I don't think she'd be fun to theme around

-Reggie from Twelve Forever: I have autism+npd hcs for her (ignoring that's she's a 12 y/o, and that's just how they act, to be fair, i still act exactly like that as an adult so it's fair game) and i would absolutely kill to have a Reggie themed blog

-Kaidou from Saiki K: he's already in my header, I think he could fit the theme. He's the cringe on the outside that I feel on the inside 😍

-Doctor from Akudama Drive: i have...vague? npd hcs for her..maybe...she would slay hard as a blog theme though, she serves cunt no matter what

-Kanato from Dialovers: hmmmm...well i could keep my purple theming at least, he's got the bpd+npd rizz...but idk, he's not really My Character in a way-

-Light Yagami from Death Note: narcissism? yes. theming? boring
