Hi, I wanted to know something
In your fairy AU do Sun and Moon have elemental powers or some kind of power???
They are capable of producing their own light.
And, as their name implies, they do dabble with water magic, but only under specific circumstances. For Sundrop, he can only perform water magic when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. For Moon, only when it's a full moon.

I'm currently playing ch 10 but I just got to the lore tablets part.
I 100% believe now that the Watcher is the villain.
The lore tablet states that Light magic and Shadow magic were both used back in the old days and that there were no ill side effects (draining your life force or losing your mind) and even states that light is nothing without darkness. The tablet continues to go on to say some cataclysm caused these two forms of magic to have negative side effects, and that the imbalance continues to grow. It even warns that the chasms could swallow magic's scared creations whole.
What I'm getting from this is that the rifts are actually good. I think they are bridges trying to restore the balance between the two forms of magic. I think that closing them will cause a grifter divide between Light magic and Shadow magic, and that the Watcher wants this to happen.
This lore tablet is described as being different so I do not believe the Watcher wrote this one, since it alludes to him being evil.
I also believe that the other realm walkers who have disappeared have been purposefully trapped by the Watcher (possibly so they can not foil his evil or plans, or so he can take their life force).
It's also possible that the cataclysm could have been caused by the Watcher himself. He is after all old enough to remember the elven old gods.

Aliyaa’s magic HC.
“In Darkness I believe,”
——Aliyaa Aepel
Gifs/Pics aren’t mine. I found them in pinterest
Tumblr media
Magic is a tricky concept in Aliyaa’s life. It’s an important aspect of hers too, Most magic users summon their magic by their emotions; unlike Aliyaa, She uses her thoughts instead.
Because she knew that her emotions are like a raging sea and blazing fire. Years of abuse, negligence and trauma and her father’s death was the last straw for her. She let go of everything and thus darkness consumed her.
Unlike her emotions; Her thoughts are stable and calm. She always depends on them, because they are stable.
Born with darkness for as long as she can remember, people were oblivious to it because she was stable and loved by her father and friends, thus she was happy and stable. When these things were stolen from her. She rebelled and unleash her darkness; letting the whole world know her pain and suffering.
Aliyaa was thrust into a harsh world that forced her to mature beyond her years. She became a fierce survivor, adapting to the challenges that came her way. But when her father, the only source of love and happiness in her life, passed away, it felt like those precious emotions were ripped away from her, leaving her heartbroken cruel, dark and alone.
She literally took ‘It takes a monster to kill another’ to a whole different level. And she becomes a monster herself to kill other monsters.
Aliyaa’s magic is black-coloured.
She created her dark mirror when she found the shards of the dark mirror, which was originally made by a dark and powerful mage they call ‘The Whisperer’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In her journey for vengeance; she honed her dark magic and spells by Donovan: The master of all evil, She met him in his ‘dark domain’ and he taught her everything she wants to know about dark magic and magic as a whole.
Aliyaa learnt ‘heart ripping’ by him. She literally rips peoples’ and creatures hearts by shoving her hand into their ribcages when she pulled them out they turn into crystal-stone like objects instead of bloody and meaty organs. She also can command them and break them; thus resulting in their demise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She uses dark magic to kill monsters and harm evil people, Some are immune to dark magic she uses light magic to harm. She can use both art of magic to kill and destroy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aliyaa’s dark magic can pollute and infect everything: People, Water, other creatures and things. She can whisper into people and inflict them with ‘madness magic’ which is a vile and worst type of magic ever invented. She uses her magic in the water as a mean to guide her.
Tumblr media
Aliyaa is like a shadow. No one can hear her footsteps at all unless she wanted them to.
Tumblr media
Years later, She developed a new art of magic ‘Dark Light’ combining dark magic and light magic to create even more powerful magic and spells with traits of darkness and light.

Tyril's Weird Stance on When to Use Light Magic
When Tyril will and won't use magic outside of combat is super interesting (particularly pre-revelations about the Realms being split in Book 2).
Tyril is over here telling Nia not to use her Light to clean... while peeling potatoes with it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he's pretty sassy about Nia using Light to make a fire in the Deadwood. Even though it's good for morale and no one wants to go back out into the nightmare forest for wood.
Tumblr media
This all suggests that Tyril is against using Light unless it's necessary. But that's not true. He tells you than his opinion changed radically after learning the Realms were split and that's why magic has a cost. It's only after the reveal that Tyril feels weird using Light for mundane things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So why does Tyril scold Nia about how she uses magic?
Well, he gives us two different explanation in the Deadwood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think he's second explanation, that Light is sacred, is partially true. We know religion is highly woven into people's lives in Undermount and Tyril is fairly devout.
But I think the 'hefty price' is the most honest answer.
Tyril lost one of his mothers to Light magic use, which is clearly still painful for him. I'm sure the cost of using Light feels very real to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And remember, Tyril is not as worldly and experienced as he pretends to be, especially not at first. He admits he'd never even been on a boat before! So he's probably read a bit about humans and orcs, but likely never formed any kind of connection to one of them. Tyril's world has almost always been exclusively elves.
But then he started making his first real friends (after Kaya) and none of them are elves (with the possible exception of your character).
Tumblr media
And Tyril must have the terrible realization that he is going to outlive all of them, unless he falls in battle or manages to burn through over a hundred years of Light.
So now here's this human he really cares about, who is kind and passionate and understands Light like he does, who is trading moments of her tragically short life when she doesn't have to. So he scolds her for using her Light, but doesn't ever really say why.
Basically, Tyril is a very sweet guy who loves his friend Nia and can't quite put the words to why it makes him so nervous to see her use the magic he's been surrounded with his whole life.

gosh I am so tired of how popular fantasy media uses light magic, it's just pure light, healing, "good" light or energy beams with the occasional lightning or heat aspect WHEN THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO EXPLORE WITH LIGHT. Light encouraging serotonin = emotion magic. Light and illusions. Light and reflections. Color being a phenomenon of light = camouflage. Using light to travel instantly. Light and regeneration. Light and photosynthesis.
this may be my frustration with shadow and bone like the other Grisha orders were better developed and Alina's was just okay burst of light, blinding light, the "Cut" but with light (the Cut makes so much more sense with light than shadow too, like light = lasers and concentrated heat)

I have a feeling Blades is going to go down the route of shadow magic and light magic aren't good or bad, it just depends on how you use it plot.
If you look at book 1 Solerne used light magic to do evil things.
And Nia while the Dreadlord was inside of her used his dark magic to attack the Shadow Court.
And with people theorizing that Nia has shadow magic now.....
