someday i'll write a long and in depth letterboxd review detailing Why, exactly, le otto montagne hit me the way it did but until that day comes. the thing i feel like i keep coming back to with this movie is specifically the ending and the way it COULD show us all ice and snow and winter, i.e. it's over, it's dead. and i think if the movie were more tragic, which it isn't really to me, it would work, but the thing is we see the ice melting, we see new life, we see things growing again. and part of this is to give us the last shot with the birds, but another part to me is the idea that things will still go on, nothing has changed really, spring will come and then summer and then fall and there will be another winter, and the house will fall into ruin again and it will all continue. but at the same time there is the dead tree, which is dead and isn't coming back. there are some mountains you can't return to etc etc

Thanks if you want to answer.....
Oh man, these are always so tough haha. Definitely will be a bit of recency bias, but I'll give it a shot!
Also, for reference, for everything aside from next watch/read, I tried to choose entries that I'd experience both anime and manga from (excluding LNs because I'm picky like that). If I didn't I'd have been stumped on this all week haha.
Favorite female character: Mitsumi Iwakura
Favorite male character: Kenji Kazama (arguably the pinnacle of comedic-slash-classic manga protagonists)
Favorite animanga: Heavenly Delusion? (these sort of end all be all picks are so impossible for me haha)
Animanga you are currently enjoying: 'Tis Time For Torture, Princess
Animanga that exceeded all your expectations: Heavenly Delusion (both initial experience with manga and anime, actually)
Unpopular animanga you really love: D-Frag! (the exclamation is part of the title)
Favorite romance: A Sign of Affection (I know the anime's not done, but Ajia-Do and Yuta Murano's work is too outstanding to discount)
Favorite action: Jujutsu Kaisen (though specifically excluding S2 due to Park's departure)
Favorite fantasy: Made In Abyss (I think even in spite of some of the creator's tendencies, the worldbuilding is just on another level in comparison to other fantasy series)
Favorite Sci-Fi: Neon Genesis Evangelion (there's a lot of choices here)
Favorite Drama: Nana
Favorite Comedy: Uramichi Oniisan (since I already used D-Frag! elsewhere)
Favorite anime movie: Blue Giant (again, so many to choose from)
Next in your watch list: Noir (one of a handful of cel anime to be shot on widescreen 35mm film, so I've been very curious to start it, even though I've been putting it off forever)
Next in your read list: Fruits Basket (re-read), or Requiem of The Rose King (been waiting forever on restocks of the early vols).

Hey has anyone ever thought about how messed up IDW Ultra Magnus is from specifically Optimus’s perspective. Like, they were friends. Imagine if your friend died and someone else just. got inside his corpse and kept pretending to be him. And a bunch of people kept doing this for years, and you’ve been friends with so many people all wearing your friend’s body and nobody ever told you. Did he ever notice things were different? Did he ever wonder why his friend kept changing in ways so subtle he couldn’t explain how it felt wrong? Basically what I’m saying is IDW Optimus has been stuck in the world’s most long running horror novel
