Castaway Spotlight: Lickitung
Castaway Spotlight: Lickitung
Lickitung (also known as “Grossella”) is a contestant from Survivor: Directors’ Pick.
She serves as the secondary, and later main, protagonist of Season 6.
Lickitung always tries to do the right thing for her alliance. Although it may not be the best choice, she is extremely loyal to those who she believes in. Her extremely long tongue is great for challenges, being a easy way for her to grab things (or other castaways) that are far away. She also has quite a good endurance, being able to withstand lots of physical activity with minimal impact. She is extremely strategic, being able to manipulate and deceive to support her friends and allies. Do not mess with Lickitung - she will make sure you don’t make that mistake again. Even though she may seem intimidating, she has a loving heart and wants to be a good player. She was first seen in Pokémon Red and Blue, which was released on February 27, 1996.

Lickitung was one of the 9 new castaways selected by the Directors for Season 6. She was initially placed on the K Tribe, but she swapped to the A Tribe when the tribes were shuffled on Day 5.
On the K Tribe, Lickitung formed a close bond with Bidoof. After losing the first Immunity Challenge on Day 1, however, Lickitung became the main target of Sealeo, Turtwig, and Shinx. To prevent this, Lickitung persuaded Swoobat, who already had reservations about Sealeo, into forcing a tie. Unfortunately, Swoobat pulled the tiebreaker purple rock, making Lickitung once again in the minority. On the second day, Lickitung attempted to prevent themselves from losing the Immunity Challenge by trying to sabotage Brionne, but it fails. As a result, Brionne demanded Sealeo to vote out Lickitung, or suffer the consequences. Sealeo was fine with this, because he had the majority. Lickitung, worried, franctically searched for her one saving grace - the Immunity Idol. She finds it, and saves herself from elimination. Following this, Turtwig and Sealeo, the remaining alliance members, having a fight, leading to Sealeo apologizing to Lickitung and explaining about the Brionne situation. Lickitung forgives Sealeo and they become friends, but not for long, as the tribes are shuffled on Day 4, sending Lickitung to the A Tribe while Sealeo stayed on the K Tribe. Although she had bad blood with Brionne, Brionne seems to forgive and forget, and soon Lickitung gets swept up in the A Tribe pride. They never lose an immunity challenge. On Day 7, the tribes were merged, and Sealeo expected Lickitung to flip against Brionne, who he felt was extremely controlling. Lickitung did not know what to do, so she follows along with Sealeo trying to vote Turtwig, which fails. Angry at Sealeo’s endeavors, Lickitung leaves him and goes back to Brionne, who she was more bonded to. Lickitung tried to defend Brionne, and she was able to help get Sealeo eliminated, much to Sealeo’s annoyance. The next day, however, Brionne’s closest ally, Klefki, decides to flip against her, causing Brionne to get eliminated. After losing her “leader”, Lickitung assumes leadership of the alliance, successfully manipulating Klefki into believing she was working with him and voting her off. Lickitung’s alliance was once again in the lead, and although it seemed that Jolteon might flip to Spheal, he remained loyal and only Chatot remained. The alliance planned to get rid of Chatot next, but Chatot won the Immunity Challenge and the council turns into a firemaking tiebreaker. Chatot gives Jolteon immunity, meaning Lickitung is matched up against Ninetales, but Lickitung is able to create her flame first, sending her to the finals.
Lickitung ultimately only received two votes from the jury, losing to Chatot who got a total of six jury votes. She tried to show the jury how moral she was through the season, but her only votes were from Brionne and Ninetales, the only jury members who were loyal to her and Brionne’s alliance.
Due to her high placement and good popularity, she is a front-runner to return in the future. She has not clarified if she is interested in another season.
