#libidO
For me, there are six questions I ask myself to determine representation vs queerbaiting:
What are is it from? What is representation for some conservative countries may seem like queerbaiting for other countries.
Is the portrayal different or out of place? For shows, are portrayals of straight couples treated differently than gay couples. Does the storyline seem random and last minute? Or does it fit with the storyline. It’s all about thinking things out. Are the gay characters sexualized more or less? Both can be queerbaiting.
Is the acting forced? Or is it treated well and with care. Like is there some moments we call Gay Chicken. Or is it treated respectfully.
Are they portraying characters or being themselves? Fanservice is more queerbaiting because they aren’t portraying characters. But a mv they are characters. It’s all more or less make-believe.
Are there blatant stereotypes or ways to lean more to female attention (for mlm) or male attention (for wlw)?
Does the gain outweigh the loss? For some people, queer portrayal could end their career or lead to the downfall of a show’s ratings. If it’s more of a risk, it’s probably not queerbaiting because they are less likely to do it for hopes of benefiting.
I am sure there are others and I’ll edit it later but it’s late so gn! Also this is just MY opinion, so take it as you will. 💤💤

Onlyoneof's new song and performance of Libido isn't everyone's cup of tea for sure, but I like that they did something different, esp for mv instead of the usual "dark concept"

OnlyOneOf releasing the libidO MV as an almost shot for shot Call Me By Your Name reference just as the weather's getting warm made me absolutely launch myself back into Italian Gay 80s Hell (tm)
The audacity of their company is unparalleled. I'm living.

온리원오브(OnlyOneOf) - libidO [유희열의 스케치북/You Heeyeol’s Sketchbook] | KBS 210409 방송
The proof that it doesn't matter what you wear. It's the talent that matters. Nice try KBS. 😁

LIBIDO (Mainly geared towards Mascs)
this is a reminder that you do NOT have to be up for it at all times. i wish my libido was higher, but it’s not, and that’s fine.
do NOT have sex because you feel like it’s expected of you, or because ‘it’s where it’s going’. you have sex because you and your partner(s) want to.
i have had a lot of sex that i did not want to have and that was damaging, i’m only working through it now.
you are people, not walking fuck machines. you are sensitive and feeling individuals, not rutting alphas. it’s fucking great when you are, but that’s not and never will be your natural state.
don’t let kink or porn tell you otherwise. it’s only going to lead to disappointment. if you’re not up for it, say so.

Onlyoneof really have to choose between being fully clothed or having the original choreography
It's ok if it looks like you're headed to the office
I'm glad we got both that first time. Never forget

For anyone who is queer and GENUINELY believes libidO is queerbaiting, I’m interested in your solution.
Because the problem is that Korean media cannot show gay kisses or open expressions of love because they’re homophobic.
So how do YOU suggest they include proper representation or at least start the conversation of queer love WITHOUT what they’ve done so far? I’m not kidding. I am 100% interested.

This has probably been talked about by someone already but one of the reasons i love libidO so much is the fact that like. It's a homoerotic mv thats actually soft and not a sexy dark concept that fetishizes gay relationships to appeal to straight girls??? Unheard of.

As a lyOn I’ll say I’m so ducking proud of OnlyOneOf for this new comeback especially with the way they handled the topic of their song/video libidO they handled mlm flawlessly and naturally. Just saying I’m usually into rock but since my friend got me into a few kpop songs this group is my fave for no reason other then their amazing insightful concepts and the talent overall I just came here to write about how good it felt to finally see someone in kpop doing a somewhat mlm concept right

I STILL won’t shut up about this video because as a queer person, this video is vastly different from other idol groups’.
It’s the closest thing to actual representation we have in their music video for the kpop industry.
Maybe the above statement wasn’t the intention, but they act literally so comfortable on stage with each other that it doesn’t seem cringy or some sort of queerbaiting.
Anyways, they have a new stan 💕

there's this emotion that the libidO mv gave me... is it nostalgia? yearning? maybe it's both. though i couldn't feel the emotion well enough 'til i muted the audio and just watched the video on its own, the feeling is there, and its...utterly beautiful? maybe it's the hand-holding, or the action of softly brushing your partner's hair aside and smiling at them with utmost adoration, but whatever it is, it's given me a feeling i don't think i'll ever get rid of until the next era.
