Hi lovely, I鈥檓 assuming this is the game鈥檚 creator, I see you you ain鈥檛 slick lol. If you wanted me to share the game I鈥檇 have been more than happy to!
I haven鈥檛 played it myself because my only laptop is a work one that blocks downloads 馃槧 but from what I鈥檝e seen in the discord server from others screenshots it looks really well done.
"L'Ichtyosaure et le Plesiosaure (periode du Lias)" ["The Ichthyosaurus and the Plesiosaurus (Lias period)" by Edouard Riou, from La terre avant le d茅luge [The world before the deluge] by Louis Figuier, 1863
Six years ago on July 30th 2017 I decided, on a whim, to draw every single D&D monster from the monster manual (and eventually quite a few from Volo鈥檚 Guide and Pathfinder as well) a day. It was very fun, very challenging, and helped me improve as an artist forced to adapt my style. Just look at some of the earliest entries compared to the later ones.
However, I have something not so secret to admit. I didn't know jack and/or shit about d&d when I started that. Which is pretty obvious. The "setting" of the original daily D&D drawings was a mismatch of modern day, medieval, magic, speculative evolution, and whatever else I wanted. I was in many cases riffing on tropes that I knew nothing about (the Aasimar is the first and most glaring example). Most of the creative decisions were based entirely on what I wanted to draw that day. While it was freeing, it wasn鈥檛 very serious or well thought out.
In the five years since I started, I've not only drawn a whole lot more, but I've also played a lot of D&D. Even when not playing with my friends in sporadic in person and discord sessions, I was looking back into the history of D&D and its monsters. Their origins, sometimes as silly as placing a plastic toy dinosaur on a board, or as serious as the edgiest, darkest demon princes. Or as weirdly sexual as Drow marital practices. I even read the first Gord the Rogue novel (which I saw for 1.99 at my local bookstore and bought purely because of the name Gary Gygax on it) and promptly threw it in the trash because it sucked so hard. But I had the first-hand experience to know why it sucked!
In my first run, I unfairly ignored a lot of the design principles that went into these creatures, because I thought I knew better. Like most 17 year olds, I was wrong. Which is why, as early as 2019, I was already planning the second gig...
Here you can see all the figures I am currently working on 馃檪
Top row:
All figures in the overview. From left to right:
Calador Erskine (OC), Lias (OC), Zelda from "The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess", Diego from the PC role-playing game "Gothic", Harada Sanosuke from "Hakuouki" and Skeld (OC).
Middle row:
Calador Erskine, aka the Cannibal, and leader of the Leal'Dhearg and the base have received their first coat of paint.
I always imagined him as some kind of dark knight (but mit in a positive way), that's why his clothes are kept dark mostly.
Bottom row:
This figure of Lias is about 3 or 4 years old and I never was happy with it. Now that I've redesigned her clothes (for like the hundredth time), I want to update the figure as well. I hope that she will come closer to the current concept that you can see in the picture 馃槉
Team YouTube waiting five days to address this, 'both sideing' the situation where there's clearly only one person in the wrong, SSSniperwolf and teams YouTube both posting their statements 14 hours ago... yeah, this is gross, their statement is a joke
youtube
tl;dr
jacksfilms made a second channel to react to sssniperwolf's lazy reaction videos in which she oftentimes posts other people's content without credit, Jack called her out for stealing content among other things, no one is above criticism and she deserved to be called out a long, long time ago
she then doxxed him and went to his home (she has over 30 million followers on YouTube) and showed up at his front door, team YouTube waited 5 days to address the situation and now said both sides were in the wrong, which is an insane take
Lias being too precious for this world
I remember liking this one way less than I do now
but it includes the purest lad ever, it only makes sense that I'd come around eventually
"I'll whisper the deception, planting thoughts inside your head..."
I said I was developing a corrupted angel. And here he is. This is Lias. He's a human-hating angel who wants to corrupt as many as possible, his main target being a priest (I'm still deciding on a name for the priest).
Also this song is a Mandela Catalogue song but it's Lias.
For this new and improved run, I am using not the fifth edition, but the catalog of creatures in the very first monster manual. This means there will be quite a few regular animals and people thrown into the mix as well as beasties. Rather than being set in pseudo modern times, the context in which these images exist will be pseudo medieval times. Just like the game!
The format this time around will be a little more standardized. All images will include the monster as well as our protagonist from the finale of the last run, Lias: formerly the rookie adventurer always getting his ass kicked, now moving onto bigger and better things. Each entry will contain some original text from the monster manual, here presented as traditional knowledge regarding these monsters. Below it will be Lias' notes. To separate him from Dwoll, whose writing is more technical, Lias will be providing advice for other adventurers on how best to handle a monster, as well as correcting misinformation presented as fact in the original entries.
Finally, these won't be daily images. If I had the time and patience to plan them all out like last time, I would. But I'm an adult now and need to give my time and soul to a job so I don't live on the streets, so I'll post them as I finish them without any schedule. I'll see you for the first of 372 entries tomorrow!
