Seeking beta readers for a queer fantasy romance novel
Fell A. Marsh's Taker of the Third Path follows Linmiru, a hedgewitch led by his god to an abandoned inn at an ancient crossroads. His task there is to meet the next person to take the overgrown "third path."
Months pass, and a growing connection with one of the inn's guests leads Lin to question his devotion to destiny—but the fate of the world rests on his prophesied meeting with the taker. And when the day finally comes, Linmiru must confront the reality that nothing at the old crossroads has been as it seemed.
If you're into character-driven fantasy, romance that explores darker, heavier themes, queer and trans characters, and some unique and vibrant world building, you'll probably love this book as much as I do!!
No experience required—the goal here is to get authentic feedback from real readers. All you need to apply for a free copy is a love of fantasy and/or queer romance and the willingness to give your honest opinion! The beta reading period begins later this month, so get in while signups are still open!
Before there was Xavian, the sweet-and-spicy bodyguard space elf... there was Five. An equally smart but deadly gargoyle-like alien just trying to get the F off the planet so he can be left alone in peace.
He gets more than he bargains for, of course, when he crash lands in the Netherlands and meets Sanne.
Parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but as an author, I definitely do. Stroopwafels & Starlight's Five and We Own the Stars's Xavian are two of my favorite MMCs I've written!
If you read and enjoyed We Own the Stars, then I highly recommend moving straight into Stroopwafels & Starlight.
***
Something I haven't mentioned in the past because it never comes up in the plot itself is that yes, this book is still inherently queer, because Five is pansexual! If you're cute, have a cute personality, then you're game to him.
Sanne, on the other hand, is straight. No one has asked me about her, but I figured I'd mention it anyway hahaha.
Now available for FREE, Laika Wallace’s first novel... WHISPER IN THE WOODS

A boy who thinks he’s the only strange thing in the world, and a girl who knows that she isn’t…
The first installment in the Shimmering Lake Summer camp series, Whisper in the Woods follows Ronnie and Morgan, two teenagers with turbulent home lives, as they attend the first session of a summer camp focused on helping trouble youth connect to each other, themselves, and the world around them. Ronnie has just been through a traumatizing event that he can’t understand and is being left in the dark about by his own mother, all while struggling to piece together why he’s been raised to believe he and his mother are the only vampires in the world. Like most things in Morgan’s life, going to camp was sprung on her without her consent, but it gets her away from her painful home life and offers a glimpse into the world of Silent Woods, where she, a werewolf, might find more belonging than the suburbs of Ottawa. But there’s more to the camp than what anyone is telling them, and a long standing conflict bubbling up in the lake…
It is now available on Laika Wallace’s neocities site ( laikacore.neocities.org ) for FREE, as a downloadable PDF that can also be viewed in browser. Clickable link in first reblog.

Woven is a story about Lesbian love, connection, and the meaning we weave in our own lives. Though the Kickstarter campaign has come to a close, our GoFundMe is still active! I am still trying to raise about $200 more to cover all my costs (for a total of $1000).
I can’t do this without you guys! So if you have anything to spare, or can help out by spreading the word, I would appreciate it more than you know! Even $1 gets me closer to my goal. If you rather donate through Paypal, CashApp, or Venmo, you can DM me as well 😊

Nothing bad; but a quick note. When Castien says he's sorry that is very, very rude in faerie culture. To faeries, to say sorry is to mean you can never ever ever EVER pay them back. In a land where favors are traded like pokemon cards that's not cool.
Damp fingers caressed a russet patch of skin. Castien shivered. The rain shifted the light. Even in the darkness, both could see each other. Yellow eyes gleamed like citrine basking in the sun.
“Can't you control that? It's unsettling.“ Wednesday questioned.
“I'm sorry, I didn't know after fighting the manifestation of fear itself, or the time you helped me wrangle a ten-headed dragon, that you are afraid of light. Of all things? Is the vampirism getting to your head? Are you some kind of idiot - don't answer that, the answer is yes.” Castien sassed. “No, I can't control it. Eyeglow runs in our family.”

Three sisters are playing hide and seek. None of them want to win.
A quick horror short story previously not posted here. This story, like Bride & Groom, World Got Smaller, and The Traveler Wife, was written for (and won!) the Reedsy short story contest; this was my second win and one of my earliest submissions. I look back on it very fondly as an early piece I'm still happy with; simple, clean horror. Please enjoy.
