— a lesson in dancing ˚⁎⁺ levi ackerman x gn!reader
Tumblr media
Levi doesn't think you should be with an old man like him. You show him otherwise. Or: in a post-war life, Levi learns to dance again.
content — Post-war, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Some internalized ableism from Levi but Reader helps him get through it, Reader is younger than Levi, Slow dancing, Basically a whole lot of comforting Levi in this one (wc: 2.3k). For reference - I headcanon that Levi uses a wheelchair most of the time, but that at home, he'll opt for a cane.
Crossposted on AO3.
Tumblr media
“You should find someone younger to be with.”
At first, you aren’t sure if you heard Levi correctly. It’s still early; the sunrise barely reaches the town's tiled roofs. Sparrows nibble around you, scavenging for breakfast. Everything is at a complete standstill.
Then you glance up from this morning’s newspaper. Levi is staring at the youth gathered around the city square.
“What did you say?” you ask.
Levi’s attention settles onto you, a half-lidded stare that’s no less charged than in his prime as the Captain.
“You’re still young," he mutters. "You’re still whole."
Well, if he didn't have your attention before, he certainly has it now.
You place your reading onto the café table, right next to the cup of coffee the waiter just brought. Your fingers linger on the edges of the newspaper, bending the corners with your thumb.
“Levi, I don’t want to be with someone else," you say, slow like you were carefully weighing each syllable with care. "I want to be with you.”
"You say that, but I can’t give you that.”
You frown, following his changing line of sight, back to the youth. In the distance, couples dance, following music coming from an accordion. They step and twirl, a resounding cheer (“ha!”) echoing with every count of twelve.
It brings you straight back to Paradis, to life within the Walls, to evenings spent in dingy taverns. Hange and Miche used to love dancing; they loved to drag you along. You wonder if Levi is thinking about those nights too.
"Are you talking about us dancing?”
The knot in Levi's throat bobs. He swallows it down with an almost bitter expression. “That, and more. Just look at me.”
“I’m looking, Levi.”
If only he knew—you’ve been looking all along.
All these years of fighting side by side, of fighting against titans and humans, of trying to bring peace to the world.
Just to arrive at a time and place where you could look at him.
And the sight grounds you.
Levi's eyes—one milky white and shuttered, the other a deep gray that reminds you of muted skies. His hair, silky black, embellished from the passage of time with strands of silver (like starlight, you think). A pearl-colored scar that twists below his lash line, running across the left side of his face, currently glowing from the dewy morning sun.
Everything about Levi has always been beautiful.
Despite that, you watch Levi retreats in his shell. His expression hardens and his knuckles tighten. It's the same old reaction you've grown accustomed to seeing. Levi did it Then, in Paradis, and he's doing it Now, in this new life.
But you? You rip through it, cut the distance apart. The feet of your chair rattles against the cobblestone of the street as you draw near. By the time you're settled at his side, you’re close enough to count the freckles splattered on the tip of nose.
“Levi, listen to me. You’re enough just the way you are. We can go through life as we please. Isn’t that enough?”
Levi remains silent, setting his posture like iron.
You tug at the hems of his shirt, twirling the fabric around your index. “Hey, c'mon now. Have I ever told you how handsome you are in the early morning?”
“Tch, don’t patronize me. You must want more than to be stuck with an old man like me.”
“What if I like my old man?”
“You should be with someone younger.“
“Who says?”
“I’m saying.”
Levi’s deadpan expression doesn’t falter under your even gaze, but his lower lip opens up slightly, as if he were trying to even out his breathing. A blue vein tenses down his neck. You have the urge to smooth it with the back of your hands.
But you focus on his words instead.
“Levi, where’s all of this coming from?”
“Does it matter?”
“Yes, of course, it matters. If it's making you have these thoughts, it matters.”
Levi's eyes narrow. You sigh.
“Fine, you stubborn man. You wanna know what I see?” you say under your breath.
There’s something vulnerable tied to Levi’s gaze. You hold onto it, sliding your fingers through his hair to brush care into his scalp. Your thumbs linger over the crow’s feet permeating the corner of his eyes. A constellation of wrinkles and spots dust Levi's skin, an aftermath of time and sun exposure. You run a delicate digit over all of it, ending along his scarred lash line.
Levi swallows loudly.
“When I look at you, Levi, I see the pain of someone who was asked to grow up much too fast. I see the face of a man who had to shoulder the weight of survival all by himself. I see the life of a soldier who has fought for peace so that all of them,” your head bobs in the youth’s direction, “now get to enjoy a quiet Saturday morning where they can dance without a care in the world.”
Levi glances over your shoulders, fixing a point like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
You bring your hands along the sides of his jaw, directing his attention back to you. “Levi, you’re everything I want. We fought for a decade to be here. Why can’t you recognize that?”
He attempts to shake his head. “You deserve more.”
“That's for me to decide."
"I disagree."
"You always trusted my judgment as a soldier, so please extend me that same courtesy in this life here. Trust me to know what I want.”
“S’not the same.”
“It is. I dedicated my heart to the Scouts back then, didn’t I? And now I’m dedicating it to you.”
Levi’s ears turn pink, his lips tightening into a pout that cannot be described as anything else but coy. “Tch, don't say shit like this in public.” He attempts to lean away from your touch, but you teasingly play with strands of his hair, coxing him to utter stillness.
You lift a brow.
Levi stays quiet. Your knees bump with his, and you remain close while you watch him think your words over. Somehow, though, you can tell he’s grateful to have you here with him. You’re the one still by his side after all these years of death and pain and misery.
The one who stayed.
And Levi conveys his gratitude by reaching to you at last, slow like he were afraid to be stung. He loops his fingers around your own, his thumb gliding against the pulse point on your wrist. Once he has his hold on you, he doesn't let go, slowly stroking your skin with his thumbs.
You exhale in solace.
“So, what's the verdict?" you murmur. "Should I continue praising you?”
He releases your hands. “Please don’t.”
You chuckle, moving to grab the newspaper once more. Today’s headline talks of peace negotiations, negotiations that are to be handled by Commander Armin Arlert.
“Listen, I meant what I said, Captain," you tell Levi as you smooth over the article, ready to pour your attention onto it. "Like it or not, you’re stuck with me now.”
Levi clears his throat as he takes a sip of tea. “Careful, soldier, that almost sounded like a marriage proposal.”
This time, it’s your turn to get flustered. You hide behind your wall of reading and when you peer over the newspaper, you swear there’s a ghost of a smirk tugging at Levi’s lips.
Tumblr media
The evening is setting. Outside, waves crash against the cliffs while seagulls croak in swarms. You don’t pay attention to the noise; you’re inside the little cottage you and Levi share, too busy tweaking the machine Onkyankopon gifted you. It's a vinyl player—a machine which lets you play music records. Admittedly, you aren’t well-versed with these modern inventions, but this one you’re excited to use.
The record you’ve placed into the vinyl player comes from Onkyankopon’s home town. It promises a soothing journey filled with emotional highs—just what you need. With a grin plastered on your face, you press the play button. The tonearm hits the record and a lovely crack sounds across the living room. You lower the volume, and turn around.
“Levi, you coming?”
You hear a grunt in response, echoing across the narrow corridor of the house. “There’s no fire under my ass, is there?”
“Just a very excited me is all.”
Several moments later, Levi walks in, cane in hand. He’s fresh out of the shower. His hair is still wet, bangs clinging to the sides of his forehead, and his cheeks still have that rosy hue that comes from him washing it thoroughly. He’s wearing a freshly ironed shirt, and what Marleyans call jeans (which, incidentally, make his ass look great).
Your stomach flutters.
Levi raises a brow. “What did you want to show me?”
“Oh.” You blink, remembering your plan. “Right. Please, c'mon here.”
He does, walking towards you, something cautiously guarded on his face.
You roll your eyes and shoot him a playful smile. “It’s not a trap, I promise.” Your fingers move to the collar of his gray shirt, feeling the rough fabric of cotton between your fingertips. The color matches his gaze, it brings out the smoothness of his pale skin.
He really is pretty.
You tell him as such.
He scoffs, a lovely pink hue dusting the tips of his ears. “Don’t say shit like that.”
You shrug. “We’re not in public anymore, are we?”
“Spare me.”
“But I like to compliment you."
"That's not my problem."
"Fine, old man. Then I suppose I should show you.”
His eyes narrow, not unkindly or in an annoyed manner, but with the regard of someone who dislikes surprises, who knows you’re up to something.
You detach yourself from him for a moment, striding over to reach for the volume button and turning it up. As soon as the slow violin and piano tug through the air, you turn towards him with a grin.
“Let’s dance,” you announce.
To Levi’s credit, he doesn’t appear all that surprised by this turn of events. Well, he’s known you over a decade, so you suppose he’s learned a thing or two about you.
You take his wooden cane out of his hands, carefully placing it against the wall. For a moment, the two of you just stare at each other from across the small room, admiring one and another. Moonlight trickles into the room, gracing Levi with its touch. His gray stare is aglow, his hair like silver. Like starlight, indeed.
Taking a slow step in his direction, you slide into his arms, and he welcomes you like you were made to belong there all along. You take his invitation with a smile, offering him support for his leg while you bask in the comfort of his embrace. Levi places his left hand over your shoulder, the other finding a home along your ribs, fingers slotting along every bone. Safety. His touch sparks warmth across your body, and you bring your hands to the back of his neck, delicately smoothing his undercut.
“The music is starting,” you murmur into the shell of his ear. Tingles spread through your veins.
“Yeah, it is.”
The music isn’t anything like the one you heard on the square today. This track is slow and intimate, and so, your dancing adapts to it. At first, you take the lead, only taking occasional small steps back, hips swaying with the soft melody. Levi follow closely, so close that you listen to his heartbeat quicken beneath your touch.
Half a minute later, Levi surprises you by carefully taking one of your hands between his own, dragging his thumb over your knuckles. He guides you back into a slow spin, and you feel the air expand in your lungs as you take several steps away from him, watching your two shadows ripple over the silver spotlight. When he tugs you back and your vision spins, you think how perfectly your bodies align together.
“Levi, why are you so good at this?” you chastise playfully.
“Erwin used to make me attend these fancy balls in the Interior,” he says in your ear, the tenor of his voice rumbling against your skin. “I learned there.”
“Huh, that’s true. I remember the tuxedos you and Erwin wore now that you mention it." You chuckle. "You both looked devilishly handsome.”
“We looked like two pretentious snobs, you mean.”
"You say that, but I think Erwin took you along for a reason. We always did get the funding for every expedition.”
“Yeah.” There’s a note of fondness for Erwin and past memories, things you aren't exactly privy to, but that you're glad he gets to cherish all the same.
You come to rest a cheek close to his neck, submerging yourself with the warmth of his skin. “I guess this little dance doesn’t measure up to the lavish balls you’ve attended, right?”
His hand tightens around your own. “No, this is better.”
You smile at his words.
It isn’t until a moment later that you realize the music has stopped, that you’re both still slow dancing to silence. Outside, the sound of waves remains.
Slowly, you untangle yourself from Levi, looking at him like he were the lighthouse guiding you back to shore. Levi’s attention is already fixed on you, his face filled with quiet fondness. There's starlight in his gaze.
“You see," you say. "We can dance, you and I.”
Levi raises a hand towards you, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “If we can teach your clumsy ass some rhythm, sure.”
“Hey, don’t be mean.”
Levi snorts, and before you can say anything else, he surprises you by leaning over to press a kiss over your forehead.
And under the moonlight, you watch him at peace, and all feels right.

Flock of Birds
Pairing: levi x gn! Reader
Summary: You’re injured, disoriented, and alone in the middle of the forest with your thoughts. The rest of the Levi squad is dead. You’re hoping death comes sooner rather than later, but luckily your Captain finds you in time.
Warnings: angst, descriptions of violence, reader hoping for death, happy ending.
**something to get me back into writing, and apparently symbolism is hard for me to write. Takes place during season 2 and reader is apart of his og squad.
Their relationship can be read as romantic or platonic, it’s not really specified.
Tumblr media
The birds never looked so free. A small flock flew above you in the typical ‘v’ form. Sasha said they do that to keep track of each other. To keep each other safe while migrating and make sure no one gets left behind. Were they ducks? No, no, they had to be crows. Maybe they’re- who cares?
You’re mind was fuzzy.
Vision was blurry.
And of course it had to be raining.
But… the sun was out and the sky was clear.
Then why was water running down your face? The slow tickle of the liquid trailed down your face and down your jaw until it fell on your white pants.
Blood.
Oh. That explains it.
How long have you been out here? What time was it.. what day was it?
The ringing in your ear slowly dissipates and your vision starts to clear. You’re sitting down.
Why? Captain Levi gave you and the rest of his squad orders to stop the Female Titan. This isn’t making any sense.
Where was Petra? Eld?
God, your head hurts.
Maybe they found their flock of birds and flew to safety? But without you?
Nothing makes sense.
All you can see are trees, granted you can’t even move your head around fully. But, the Scouts are in titan territory, this was no time to be sitting.
You try to move your legs that sprawled in front of you, but the small movement makes you release a strangled cry.
Oh. It’s all coming back now.
Your squad, no, Levi’s squad… they’re all gone.
The female Titan elbowed you while going after the others. You must’ve hit the tree and only suffered a few broken bones before you went unconscious.
Perfect.
The sun was starting to get lower in the sky and you realize the scouts must’ve made their way back hours ago.
A small and bitter laugh escaped you. This is how you die? Alone and surrounded by the corpses of your comrades? What a sick world.
Maybe, just maybe if you close your eyes, you won’t wake up. The painful yearning for death in your sleep was no more than a miracle. And miracles don’t happen. Not in this life.
No, a Titan is bound to grab you at any moment, squeezing your body in its hand until your bones crack and blood is pouring out of your mouth. Death only comes once its teeth bite down on your skull.
That’s how you’re supposed to die.
Then why weren’t there any titans?
Not that you minded, but it was very peculiar. This was prime Titan country and you should’ve been dead before you’ve even woken up.
A faint noise catches your attention. That sounds like… odm gear.
With your rotten luck, they’ll fly past you, not noticing you’re still alive. Thin tears leaked from your dehydrated body. You’ll have to suffer a cold night by yourself, then get plucked off the ground by a Titan once dawn approaches. If you’re lucky, you’ll die during the night.
“Captain!”
A voice shouted out as the odm gear sounded a lot closer now. It was a female voice.
Was it Krista? No, her voice is too soft.
Sasha? No, it couldn’t be.
“Captain, they’re alive!”
Oh, it was Mikasa. She was cool.
Thumps and the sound of the twigs and leaves snapping as the two made their way over to you.
Which Captain was it?
Wait, wasn’t there only one Captain?
Yes, he wasn’t just your Captain, he was your squad leader.
Your head tilted to the side and through half-lidded eyes, you saw Captain Levi standing there in shock. Mikasa quickly rushes over to you and scans you for any lethal wounds.
“T-they hit their head pretty hard it looks like.” She says with tears brimming her eyes. Levi finally snaps out of it and remembers his authority.
“Scan the area for any Titans until I get them on one of the branches.” Levi crouches down in front of you as Mikasa leaves. “Hey, hey, can you hear me?”
His hands carefully grasp at your face to steady your head. “Y/l/n, I asked you a question.” Your eyes locked with his. The sharp grey eyes bore into yours just like so many other times, but this time you could tell there was a sense of longing and concern within them. Your hand reaches out to grasp the wings of freedom patch on the shoulder of his jacket.
That’s when your emotions took over. Tears leaked from your eyes and you gave out a cry. “I’m s-so sorry, Captain. We t-tried to stop her.”
The disappointment in yourself rang through your body. You were still alive. Everyone else was dead. So why you? You were the first one down and couldn’t even follow your captains orders.
“Shut the hell up.” Levi interrupts your thoughts.
“You’re alive. That’s all that matters.” He breathes out and rests his forehead on yours. “Thank god.”
More tears. “B-but the others-”
“We can mourn when we’re all safe. Right now, we have to get you out of here.”
Levi takes out a roll of bandages and starts to bind them against your head wound. “Don’t die on me yet, kid.”
“I’m only a few years younger than you.” You gave him a weak smile.
“Save your energy, brat.”
There’s the Captain you know.
Once he bandages your wounds, he sets his arms under you to carry you. You let out a small cry at the movement of your leg.
“Shit.” He mutters and moves to take off his cloak. “There’s nothing I can do for the pain. Just hold on until we can get to the wagons.”
“Okay.”
His thumb wipes away a few of your tears and he rips a strip off his cloak and rolls it up. “We can’t have that loud mouth of yours attracting more of those ugly bastards.” He hold it up to your mouth.
“Bite.”
The cloth is pressed between your teeth and acts as a bite guard.
You couldn’t help the muffled groans of pain as he lifted your body up. He tied more pieces of his cloak around you both to act as a harness so you were strapped to his back.
“You alright?” Levi asked once he stood up. He only got a muffled grunt in response.
Without another word, he took off into the trees.
“Mikasa, let’s go! We’re meeting up with the others.”
The other scout soon joined you two and she gave you a worried glance.
Your arms were limply resting around Levi’s neck as he moved and your head turns to the side.
Birds flew next to you.
“To keep each other safe.” Sasha’s voice rang out in your head. “When my dad was teaching me to hunt, I always wondered why birds flew like that, too.”
“Aw, so they’re looking out for each other?” You asked, splitting your slice of bread in half and handing it to her. “That’s cute.”
She eagerly took it, “Yeah! It’s to make sure no one gets left behind and makes communicating easier.”
Who knew one of Sasha’s old stories would play through your mind at a time like this.
Levi landed on his horse and was careful with you and his own injured leg. The forest was becoming smaller and you could see the walls in the distance.
You’re gonna be okay.
Levi’s hand gripped both of yours around his neck and he held the reigns in the other.
Sorry fate, you weren’t getting left behind this time. Maybe miracles do happen. You might have lost some along the way, but the birds must stick together, especially in this world.

levi ackerman
๑ summary: 3 times Levi shows you he loves you. One time he says it
๑ cw: nothing just short and sweet fluff
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Unspoken Comfort:
It was a night time, the moon casting a pale glow against your surroundings as you and Levi sat by the crackling campfire, the only two people awake amidst the slumbering soldiers. Levi, who rarely succumbed to sleep, had his piercing gaze fixed on the dancing flames.
You struggled to keep your eyes open, determined to savor this rare moment of quiet togetherness. Levi, ever perceptive, noticed your efforts to stay awake. He wordlessly scooted closer to you, draping his cloak over your body, intertwining his fingers with yours. The warmth of his cloak enveloped you, a shield against the cold crisp night air. His way of silently saying “I’m here to protect you, I love you.”
Tumblr media
Silent Support:
The training grounds were filled with the sound of metal clashing against metal. You pushed yourself relentlessly, determination etched on your face, as you strived to improve your combat skills. Deep down, however, self doubt was plaguing your mind.
As you sparred with Levi, losing over and over again he could sense the doubt overcoming you. Instead of criticizing your skills he adjusted his training style to match your pace. Slowing his movements so you could better anticipate his attacks. With each successful strike you made his eyes showed a hint of pride, something only you could decipher. He didn’t need to say a single for you to hear his thoughts “I believe in you and the strength you have within you and I’m proud and I love you.”
Tumblr media
Gentle Touch:
In a rare moment of downtime, you found yourself sitting on the rooftop, gazing at the night sky that loomed over the city. You sat there with Levi, a comforting silence enveloping you both, when he suddenly reached out and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear.
His touch carried a senses of warmth, one that overcame his usual stoic and reserved nature. It was a subtle gesture, his fingertips lingering against your skin for a few seconds, before his hand retreated. In that simple touch, Levi conveyed the depth of his affection. A silent thought that said “You are beautiful, and you are loved."
Tumblr media
Spoken:
You and Levi found yourselves alone together, far from the demands of Scout duties. As you lay across Levi's lap the weight of the day's exhaustion began to creep upon you, lulling you towards the promise of sleep.
Levi was quietly reading the paper, his fingers tracing soothing patterns on the skin of your back. The room was overcome with a comforting stillness, broken only by the faint rustle of pages. He glanced down at you, observing your face as your eyes drooped and your breath became steady. You looked so beautiful in moments like this, he thought. Curled up in his lap, comforted by his presence. He couldn’t understand it, how someone like him could bring a sense of peace to someone like you, but loved the way that made him feel.
As sleep began to tug at your consciousness, Levi spoke up. "I love you," he whispered. It was a rare occurrence, him saying I love you first, reserved only for peaceful moments such as this. “I love you to Levi.” You said back, as sleep finally took you away, his words acting as a lullaby seeping into your dreams.

Difficulties Levi has had to accept and adjust to since being discharged from the hospital—which aren’t mutually inclusive just yet—were countless already. Then came the matter of his hair.
There is one person and one person only whom he considers trusting with his hair.
Actually, he trusts you without question regardless of whatever it is. He'd just be lying if he said he wasn't nervous.
Your shared bathroom has a mirror stretching the length of the counter. He refused to sit in his wheelchair and get it covered in hair, and maneuvering into a proper chair wasn't difficult. He finds an excuse to look away from his obnoxiously overgrown bangs and awkwardly tacked-on white scar tape—and looks for you in the corner of the mirror. You set down the wheelchair somewhere outside his line of sight.
It's been several months, but he still finds it hard to accept.
He looks ahead again when he hears your footsteps, so he looks nothing but annoyed by what is surely a chore. In truth he’s so nervous he can hear his own heartbeat, and doesn’t hear you announce yourself.
You unwrap a towel on a the counter to reveal all your supplies. Nothing extravagant, it being everything he asked you to get.
Before you begin, you press a kiss to the top of his head.
The snipping sounds are terribly loud in his ears, little scrapes of a fork on a plate. It’s even the hardest thing to mess up the shaping where his undercut lays in the back, but even still.
He didn't imagine it like this. Certainly not so many memories coming, when over three decades have passed since someone else did this—Mom. In his memories she has him sat on the thin edge of their rusty bath, her kneeling behind him, and trimmed with a dull pair of fabric scissors. He can’t remember for sure, but there’s no way she made it look bad.
He hated getting his hair cut, he remembers just now. They only had one hairbrush, and the guilt would eat him up over Mom, who used it obsessively to keep her long hair neat and perfect.
So the feel of her fingers carding through his hair, or using the metal comb, was extremely painful. She'd chastise him gently. But he still couldn't bring himself.
Yet, now today, he hates himself for having hated it.
Levi can’t help but glance at his neck in the mirror. Later on, when he first asked Kenny to cut his hair, he threatened to clip his tiny throat from his shoulders with a pair of shears if he ever asked for help with something so stupid ever again. If he couldn't do something that basic by himself, he was destined to die a weak runt.
It was an odd overreaction from Kenny in retrospect.
He is weak now.
But he doesn't need to be strong any longer.
Unsure of how to feel, he makes an effort not to think at all until you pipe up that you want him to see. You pluck a handheld mirror from the counter for him to see.
He immediately makes a face, which he shoots at your reflection. "Hey. This is too long."
You smile. "I wanted to be extra careful so I don't go too short. Too much is better than too little. It's even, right?"
It is even.
He nods stiffly, pinning his tongue between his teeth as he looks away from the mirror. Like back then, this is suddenly painful, but only in the way that shows him another way in which you tell him that you love him.

Thinking about sleepy cuddles with boyfriend!levi like-
No sun shone through your curtained windows when you awoke, causing you to crinkle your brow in sleepy observation.
Rain beat down against the glass panes, tapping persistently and forcefully. It created a beautiful ambiance to wake up to, you thought.
Outside the wind howled softly, pairing with the downpour to create such a blissful sound. Leaves of nearby trees rustling in the breeze, branches lightly scraping against the HQ building with every gust…It was peaceful.
You attempted to cover your mouth as you felt a yawn coming on, but found your hand was trapped. Peaking your eyes open a crack, you tried to find the reason why this was.
The sleeping face of your boyfriend came into view almost immediately. He was turned on his side, facing you as he breathed in softly through slightly parted lips. Your hand was placed under his head, and you were suddenly reminded of having soothed him to sleep the night before by brushing your fingers through his hair.
You smiled softly at the memory and picked up where you had left off previously.
The action caused Levi to stir slightly, tightening his grab on your waist. A sleepy smile adorned his face, making you beam to yourself in joy.
Slowly, his eyes cracked open, immediately finding yours.
“Morning, Lee,” you greeted him in a whisper.
“Morning, sweetheart.”
He was always so soft with you in the mornings, his voice husky from sleep. During these moments, you were more likely to get a smile out of him. And if you were lucky, you’d be blessed with the sound of his quiet laughter.
You attempted to sit up in your shared bed, but his strong arm draped over you held you down.
“Levi, we have to get up.”
“Not yet. C’mere…” his sleepy voice rumbled in his chest as he pulled you closer to him, wrapping his arms around your back and laying your head against his chest once he’d rolled onto his back.
“Look at you, being all cuddly,” you chuckled softly against his muscular chest.
“Shut it, brat. I will throw you off the bed,” he mumbled back, his face obscured by your hair.
“Yeah, yeah. Love you too, Vi.”
A soothing quiet filled your room, only disrupted by the storm outside and the both of your breathing. With a hand tangled in your hair, you couldn’t miss the three words he whispered with a kiss against the crown of your head.
“I love you.”
Like pls I need a soft Levi in my life

To everyone jumping to write a fanfic about post war levi, please take notes.
● His leg was crushed. Don't write that he's able bodied after some rest.
● do your research on how using a mobility aid changes your way of life. From accessibility to social interactions.
● he may not have been keen to the idea of using a chair.
● he may have had episodes regarding being trapped in a hospital bed
● don't you fucking dare draw another hospital issue wheelchair. Draw custom ones. There are plenty of types and references. From manual to electric depending on the era
● becoming able bodied shouldn't be the goal. There's no getting better with that injury. Stop trying to cure him.
● ffs research how spicy scenes are written for wheelchair users. It's not the same for everyone.
● he may be an ambulatory chair user.
● physical therapy and stretches.
● if you're writing that he's depressed ab being disabled, don't villainize the disabled community or the disability.
● lastly, walking for convenience is not an option. If you can't imagine how a scene would go without him walking, don't write it.

Can you do headcanons for Levi realizing he has a crush on reader pls
Of course! I think depending on if this is canonverse or not, the tells might be slightly different so im gonna separate them!
(this turned out much longer than expected omg, I’m sorry for rambling lol)
Canonverse:
He may not be the most experienced in love and relationships, but he’s not an idiot. He knows why his stomach flips and his heart races when you’re around.
At first he tries to reason with himself. He tells himself that it’s fleeting. That he doesn’t have time to entertain feelings of affection when there are more important things to worry about, but that doesn’t stop his attention from drifting to you when you’re nearby.
You’d never know it by the way he treats you across the table of the mess hall or out on an expedition but inwardly, he’s trying to find something to dislike about you. But the more he pays attention, the less he finds that he dislikes and that’s when he knows he’s screwed.
When rationalizing doesn’t work, he moves on to ignoring you as much as he can. But then his thoughts about you get too loud and he has difficulty concentrating when you’re mentioned in conversation. Or late at night when he’s supposed to be working, he finds himself thinking of something as simple as an expression on your face that he’d seen from earlier in the day. He likes it when you’re smiling the best, but the look of determination when you’re on the field excites something within him that he can’t explain.
When ignoring you becomes too much of a mental burden, he finally gives in. Just a little. By this point, you probably think that he hates you and this shift makes it so much worse. You see more of him more often, and he speaks to you. But the catch is that you’re his target for drills 90% of the time. When there’s a new odm maneuver, he picks you to demonstrate. When simulating attacks and defensive strategies, you’re always paired with him. He doesn’t go easy on you, and when you inevitably fail because your opponent is humanity’s strongest, he doesn’t hold back his disappointment.
But really, it’s because he needs to see you succeed that he’s so adamant that you try harder. He isn’t trying to humiliate you in front of the cadets or his squad. He just knows that only the best of the best stay alive.
And when you finally crack under the pressure, giving him an earful of the complaints you’ve been keeping locked away after a particularly strenuous day of training, he listens to it all. Then, he invites you to take a run along the headquarters with him. “Just some light cardio,” he says, but it’s actually five miles. You do it anyway though, and the reward is seeing his more human side.
You’re both sweaty and struggling for air at the end, but you learn a lot about him as you catch your breath. That his harsh methods come from an unconventional place of love and care. That he’s actually far more emotionally intelligent and considerate and caring than you gave him credit for. When you admit that you think he hates you, it nearly breaks his heart.
And it nearly causes yours to burst to hear him say, “I think you’re extraordinary, actually.”
Modern AU:
Modern AU levi has no choice but to be around you because you’re part of the same friend group.
He doesn’t make it easy to get to know him though, and your genuine attempts to crack that titanium wall he’s built around himself are dodged so effortlessly that it’s almost impressive.
But eventually, that genuineness proves to be his kryptonite. Just like canonverse, he knows the signs and he’s forced to make one of two choices: either play it safe or take a risk.
I think he personally does a mix of both. He finds your open and eager friendliness to be unfamiliar and uncomfortable, so he makes an effort to avoid you if at all possible. He stops showing up to larger get-togethers where he knows you’ll be. If he shows up at all, he doesn’t stay long enough to interact with you before he’s gone again.
But in the inevitable moment that he does run into you unexpectedly (by some twist of fate, you shop at the same grocery store or go to the same gym or maybe everyone else sees what he’s doing and straight up lies to get him to come out for one night), he finds himself so disarmed by your sincerity that he feels himself being pulled in like a magnet.
After that, it’s easy for him to completely fall in love with you. It’s just like letting go.
And once he’s accepted it, I think he’s quick to act on it. I think he starts with little things—touching you more, remembering little details about you, offering to accompany you/help you with mindless little tasks, etc—anything to get closer to you emotionally so he can see if you’re on the same page.
And when he feels safe that you are, he asking you on a proper date in the same second.

"Levi?"
Your voice calls out for him, Levi opens his eyes slowly and you smile at him. "...name..?" His voice was weak, he wasn't sure where he was but you were there sitting next to him.
"Yes?" That soft voice of yours reaches his ears and Levi feels a shiver run down his spine. "Where am...." He looked around, it was raining and he was covered in blood, his body felt weightless. "...I?"
"You're in the same place you were before the explosion." You run your hands through his hair, smiling at him. Levi looks at you, his eyes soft. "Name...." He reaches out and you take his hand, despite the blood gushing from his missing fingers, you don't seem to mind.
"I...the thunder spear exploded.." His eyes narrow slightly but he is quick to change it and look at you softly. "...did you see all of that..?"
"I did." The rain kept falling, soaking both you and him. Levi didn't know what to say to you, he wishes that you two were somewhere safe, wrapped up in each other's arms and cover each other in kisses.
He tries to sit up but is too weak to do so. "Levi, you're injured you can't get up." You tell him and Levi now notices that you're still in the old scout uniform.
"Name..? You're not really here are you?" His voice is sad and desperate. "No, I am not. You're dreaming." You tell him, still a smile remains on your face as you rub his hair gently.
"No...no...Name...I want to...stay here with you.." His grip on your arm is tight, his eyes now full of pain and sorrow, he is almost crying. "Please...I am tired...I don't want to fight anymore...Name...please..."
"If you don't, who will?" You kiss his forehead, your eyes shine. "I know that you're tired, my love." Your hand still holds onto his, despite the pain he is feeling, he is only focused on you, you still look as beautiful as ever.
"The world needs you, Levi. Now more than ever." He closes his eyes, letting himself feel your gentle touch but tears are streaming down his face as he remembers that this wasn't going to last, that you're not really here. It's all on his mind and yet, he holds onto the dream for longer.
"I need....you...that's all I ever wanted....you....a life with you.....was it too much to ask for?" His body starts to feel pain and he knows that he is waking up. ".... I never told you.....I never told you that I love you....and I'll never get to now...."
Your smile still doesn't fade. "Levi, I know you love me. You didn't have to say it, your actions spoke louder than words." You lean in and kiss his forehead again, he feels it less this time because he will wake up soon, he can faintly hear someone calling his name.
"I have to go now, my love." Letting go of him, you stand up but Levi weakly reaches out and grips your arm. "...name...please....stay. I don't want this dream to end."
Kneeling down again, you put the now broken pocket watch you gave him, under his shredded dark green cloak. "You know that I can't stay Levi, not now, not ever." You kiss him on the lips softly. "Till we meet again dearest, you have a world to save now. It will hurt less one day."
His eyes start to close as he sees you fade away. Let him sleep for longer. That's all he is asking for, to see you again. To hold you, to kiss you. But as he hears Hange's desperate attempt to get him to wake up, he knows that his dream had come to an end.
Later he can hear the sound of fire and the forest around him. His face is and body are all patched up now and Hange is sitting next to him.
Levi closes his eyes again until he feels something under his touch. The watch you give him, it's not working anymore and the glass is broken. But how? It flew away when the explosion happened, how did it get here, next to him?
"Hange...how...did the watch get here..?" Hange looks at him. "I found it wrapped up in your cloak, it must've tangled itself there, somehow."
Levi closes his eyes once more and in hope of falling asleep and seeing you again. However, he remembered what you told him, he has a world to save and that's what he will do because despite all the pain and loss, he still has hope.
He knows that he will never see you again in this life and has come to peace with that conclusion because he will see you again, just not here but he will see you smile again and it won't be just a dream that time.

Oh, just thinking about musician!Levi playing lead guitar for a rock band that's just starting to hit it big. He's not showy - he'd much rather the lead singer take all the attention while he lets his skills on the guitar speak for him. But it doesn't matter, because the women always flock to the front of the stage to stand in front of him anyway. They scream his name, reach their hands out to try and touch the hem or his pants or his boots; they might even try to steal his half-drunk bottle of beer he leaves next to the monitor. But he never even slides an eye down their way. When girls make it backstage to flirt with the bands, he prefers to keep to himself, slumped in a ratty armchair, scrolling through his phone. The fan gossip is that he's just shy and serious, that he's all about the music, not the partying, which is partly true.
Only those who have followed the band from the beginning really know about you. But you're here tonight, standing offstage as the band plays their first big event back in their hometown. They finish the set and run off stage as chants of "encore" fill the space. He makes a beeline directly to you, handing his guitar over to his techie and then pulling you into a kiss. Those standing against the stage see it and start murmuring amongst each other. "Who is that?" "Who's that he's kissing?" "IS HE WITH SOMEONE?"
When they finish playing their encore, he's off again, putting an arm around you and taking you straight to the dressing room. He props a chair against the door handle so no one can get in, and then he's pushing you against the wall, his hands already tearing at your blouse. You smile against his lips. "Can't even take me to a nice hotel first?" He shakes his head. "It's been too long...I need you right now." He fucks you against the thin wall of the dressing room and neither of you try to muffle the screams and moans that come out of your mouths.
After that night, there's no doubt in any fan's mind that Levi is in a serious relationship.

indestructible ! levi ackerman
levi x gn medic reader
angst, a little bit of fluff, mutual pining
you and hange escape floch with levi and set up a camp in the woods. as you think he is unconsious, you confess your feelings to levi, oblivious to the fact that he is hearing every word you say.
tw: blood, life-threatening injuries, mentions of death, fear of losing someone, curse words, mentions of nightmares and trauma, mentions of violence
( masterlist | requests )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With a loud gasp, you heaved Levi's unconsious body onto the shore and catched your breath. With closed eyes, you thanked the heavens for giving you strength, then you looked out for your companion. Hange's breathing was as uneven as your's, and they were just as soaked. The river's cold water hadn't left a single spot of your bodie's dry, but you weren't cold; your bones were still burning from the difficulty of swimming, carrying Levi and making sure not to drown.
After a few seconds of only your ragged breathing and the russtle of the trees, you had the strength to raise your gaze from the bloddied grass next to Levi's body to inspect your surroundings. It was a peaceful part of the forest the river, that had been your escape route, ran through. Green leaves decorated the huge trees and a light breeze moved them. No sign of titans, or humans or any other fucking dangers.
You felt your exhaustion in every cell of your body. Every inch of you was screaming at you to get out of the water and fall asleep right then and there, but you couldn't. You had a job, you had a companion, and you had Levi. Levi.
You caughed up a mouth of icy water and supressed the urge to vomit. The coldness had eaten itself into your bones; now, you were shivering. It was hard to pull yourself out of the water, once because of it's stream, second because your whole body was stiff from the cold. When you were finally out of the river fully, you laid there on the grass for a few seconds. Your struggling pants were drowning in Hange's curses as they sat up slowly. They looked just as tired as you, but you couldn't rest.
You turned your head to look at Levi, and one look at his bloodied and torn apart body gave you the strength to rise to your knees shakily and move him away from the river with the help of Hange. A few metres away, still out in the open but not as unprotected as before, you layed the captain down and opened your back with stiff fingers. As the survey corps's medic, you always carried your medical supplies with you, which was better than weapons at a time like this. But when you opened your back, the horror made the hairs on your neck stand, not the cold. It had been to be expected, but your bag and supplies were soaked.
Hange saw the desperation in your eyes as you looked down at your medic bag and let out a long sigh at the look in your eyes. You were the medic here, they did know a lot about wounds but you were the one who knew how to help Levi the best. Other than you, they'd never dealt with torn up insides or inner bleedings. In this situation, they couldn't have you loose your shit, even though they knew how much Levi meant to you- especially because of that.
Hange grabbed your trembling hands in a firm grip and tried to meet your eye. "Hey! Y/n! Look at me!" When you followed their order and looked up at them, they saw the tears in your eyes threatening to spill. "Hange..." was all you croaked out, your voice was damaged by the water, your tears and the struggle for air. Hange saw it in your eyes, you couldn't hold it much longer. It was quite sad. Hange knew for a fact that Levi loved the sound of your voice.
Hange's hold on your hands tightened, they couldn't let you know their's were trembling, too. "I know," they said, referring to your medic bag that was probably soaked. "But I need you to get your shit together. I'm going to get some firewood so we don't freeze to death here. You go through your bag and see what you can use; what you can dry, you lay out to dry. Then, you take care of Levi. Understood?" When you just looked at them, they shook your upper body and little and repeated the question more pressing.
You breathed in through your mouth which led to another fit of coughs. Why were you so weak? It was like your first expedition all over again. But you weren't a recruit anymore. Hange was right. "Get your shit together," you repeated silently at yourself, then, you nodded at your friend. "Understood"
Upon closer inspection, it wasn't that bad. The bandages had to dry out , but they were made out of cheap material that didn't hold water for too long. The other stuff was quick to get dry or could be replaced. As you layed your tools out in front of you, your hands became steadier and your nerves calmer. This was what you'd done your whole life long. It was just the stakes that were higher. The life that was in your hands was that of the man you loved. But then again, the stakes were always high at the survey corps.
As Hange picked up a few branches from the floor, she thanked the heavens that it wasn't very rainy anymore and the huge treetops did the rest, so the wood was almost free of moisture already. They collected another branch and reflected on the events of the day. The Jaegerists were in control and now, the fate of the world was in the hands of two unpredictable, unstable brothers that each had a dangerous following and too much power on their hands. If they were to meet...
But what were they thinking? Of what use would strategies be? They didn't have control over the survey corps anymore, they didn't have any recourses. All they had was an injured soldier and an overworked medic on the verge of a mental breakdown. Even though they weren't, Hange felt alone. Right now, they needed Moblit more than enything. It wasn't your's or Levi's fault that you liked each other, but there would be no one to help their loneliness. They themselves needed someone stronger to keep them from falling apart.
It had always been you who had patched up them and their soldiers, not only physically but also emotionally. Never had it seemed to have taken a toll on you, you were always there to comfort the cadets, would stay by their side all night if they had nightmares and listen to all of their fear and pain, all while patching up your own wounds on your body and mind alone in your office. Hange couldn't expect you to do that for them now, now that you were so close to your breaking point. But you being this unstable made them unstable, too.
Hange let themselves fall to their knees. Just a moment of rest... Their legs were aching and their head was pounding painfully. If only they had a bed. Or a pile of hay. They tried not to think of the possibility that Levi could die. It was impossible. You would heal him for sure, Hange had full trust in you. But if you couldn't do it... what then? Then they would have to continue being the stronger one, and they were tired of leading.
And even if you managed to keep the captain alive; he would be unresponsive and too hurt to even attempt to fight again for a while. Hange was without weapons, and so were you. Maybe they wouldn't find the three of you. Maybe they wouldn't come here. Maybe you could just sit out the rest of your days here. It wasn't much but better than just about anywhere else.
As you finished the last stich on Levi's face, you breathed out deeply and your bottom lip was trembling. Your calm hands wrapped the bandages around his face, then fixed them and checked his pulse as they had done every ten seconds over the hour. It was there, a little weak, but at least stronger than before. The bleeding had stopped, the life-threatening cuts stitched and wrapped up. Now you applied your watered-out salve to his more minor wounds like bruises and patched up the smaller cuts.
Done with your work, you let your hands fall into your lap and looked down at Levi. The way you sat, his head was resting next to you. Only a third of his face wasn't covered by bandages. The one eye was the only one left. It was closed, his long, dark lashes brushed against his pale skin. The color had completely vanished from his face. Parts of his hair were burned, and you couldn't help yourself; you raised one of your hands and reached over to card through his intact hair. It was still slightly damp. Either blood or water.
Careful not to hurt him, you parted his hair in the middle, brushed it down so he looked like himself again- at least a little. Your fingertips brushed over his free cheek affectionately. There could hardly be a more beautiful man than him. It broke your heart that he looked so sad, even as he slept. Or maybe you just imagined that. The moment that thought crossed your mind, the tears you had been holding for an hour, for twenty years, spilled. They hurt in your eyes that were too dry since you hadn't blinked much in a while. They clouded your vision and you covered your mouth with your hand to muffle your sobs out of instinct. Your hopeless situation and the relief about the fact that Levi was alive crashed down upon you as you buried your face in your hands and dampened them with tears.
Your eyes hurt from all the crying when you stood up with wobbly knees to look for Hange. There was no way they had been looking for firewood for one and a half hours straight. You guessed that they had probably broken down somewhere in the forest just like you had, but you would rather have all of you together so you could raise up a camp somewhere deeper in the forest. You felt too exposed this near the river, Floch's followers knew you had been swimming down this river.
It didn't sit right with you to leave Levi alone like this, so you hid his body in the undergrowth and covered it in leaves the best you could. You said goodbye to him by placing a kiss on his un-injured cheek.
Luckily, you didn't have to look for Hange that long. After a few minutes, you found them not far from your previous resting place, asleep on the ground. Deciding that they'd earned this, you carried them carefully deeper into the forest, so they wouldn't wake up. There, you layed them down, placed their cape over them and went to fetch Levi. When both of your friends were sleeping next to each other, you enlightened a small fire with the wood Hange had picked, hung up your capes to dry and took over the first watch.
Hange took over a few hours later. When you layed down next to the fire and Hange took your knife, a weak defense against enemies far stronger than you, you asked her to wake you up if Levi's wounds began to bleed again. That earned you a long look from Hange, then they nodded. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on your loverboy." They'd teased you like this before, but now their voice had lost the humor.
"Thank you," you yawned. Your eyelids grew heavier and heavier the longer you kept them open, and your head weighted too much for your shoulders. Your body seemed to sink into the forest ground and the exhaustion made your limbs numb.
"You really love him, huh?" Hange said, referring to your winded up state a few hours prior. They knew they shouldn't keep you awake, but they didn't want to be alone.
"You know that," you mumbled.
"Good," Hange said.
Tumblr media
You dreamt of Levi. Too busy to come up with a dream, your mind sent you a memory, one that you were very fond of. It was in Marley, the kids had run off somewhere, Onyankopon was showing Hange how the insides of a car looked, and you and Levi had found yourself in a little cafe, drinking tea. You were still so amazed by everything you saw that you couldn't really concentrate on your tea. Everytime a car drove by, your eyes widened and you wouldn't take them off of it until it had disappeared. From your place, you were able to see the place where the ships arrived, and you followed the movements of the people on the ship with your eyes.
Levi was watching you. You had been convinced it was because he was just as amazed as you and didn't want to show it. Or it was because he despised everyone else around you, so he was just looking at you. One thing was clear though, Levi's eyes never left you in your green dress, the prettiest thing you had ever worn since you had left your home for the military. And at one point, you even believed to see a faint smile on his pink lips.
Suddenly, one of the ships let out a loud sound and you jumped startled. Out of instinct, you reached out and your hand found Levi's. You held onto it tightly as you looked at the ship in alarm, ready to run. But it seemed like a regular thing to happen, all the other people were completely unfazed. When the shock was gone, emberassement took it's place as you realized you were still holding Levi's hand. You had touched him a lot before, you were a medic after all, the only one Levi would let tend to him if he was wounded. But this was different. More intimate. It was a thing lovers did, and you weren't lovers.
His hand had been warm, but not very soft. You had been able to feel the scars, the rough surface of the back of his hand. Life hadn't treated him kindly. You had felt the urge to trace his little scars with your fingers. The ones he had gotten before and after you had first met had been easy to difference, as the messier healed and stitched ones were rougher and more noticable, and your clear stitches were mere shodows of the old wounds. The year long use of odm gear had taken all softness from his fingers, but they hadn't been uncomfortable to hold. The opposite, it had been comforting in the chaos that you had found yourselves in.
As you had wanted to pull away, it's fingers got a hold of yours. Shyly, you had looked to the side, and so had he, but your fingers had interwined and had stayed like that for the rest of your stay.
Tumblr media
The dawn came and went. Hange woke you up when the birds were at the high of their concert and the sun stood proudly in the east. Both of you were hungry and they wanted to go hunting or collecting. They instructed you to stay and watch over Levi who hadn't shown any signs of life the whole night. Sitting by his side, you made sure he was cozy and warm and rearranged your medical supplies. The constant fear that the Jaegerists would find you was gone by now, they probably had more on their hands, so you were a little calmer.
At some point, you began to caress the skin of Levi's shoulder, a faint reminder of the many massages you'd given him. Your index finger traced the faint scars from the wounds you'd stitched up years ago. A long sigh left your lips, then they turned upwards into a faint smile. "We've come a long way, haven't we, Levi?"
The faint shadow of a voice, your voice, managed to reach Levi's ears. It wasn't very clear, he didn't understand every word, some words drowned in the sound of rushing blood in his ears, but he knew it was you who was talking to him. He knew your voice so well, he would be able to pick it out under thousands of other voices. He wished he could run towards you, stretch out his arms, he wanted you to touch him. He wanted your affection, even though he didn't deserve it.
Three cadets of his squad had been close friends of yours. How could he look you in the eye and tell you that they were dead? How could he bring you pain and not offer anything in return? An image of Zeke's face appeared before his closed eyes. His head. He would get you his head.
He wanted to move, but his whole body was unresponsive and numb, no limp answering to his silent command. And it hurt. Only now did he realize the pain he was in. Gritting his teeth, he managed to move a finger in the hopes of you seeing it and taking his hand. But then he froze when you continued to talk, to listen to your voice that was now the only thing keeping him grounded in his consiousness. By no means did he want to return to the land of nightmares. This inability to move would make him go fucking insane soon enough.
"Please be well in there, Levi," you said quietly and caressed his hair. "We can't do it without you. I can't." It was easier to tell him about your feelings when he didn't hear a word you said, and now the words were spilling out of your mouth.
"I would've almost lost it back there when I saw you. I thought you were de-" Your voice broke and you suppressed a sob, but you couldn't stop the tears forming in the corner of your eyes. "Shit, what am I doing here? I wish I was somewhere in a smaller world, in some cottage by a lake or a house somewhere- I don't know. Just somewhere peaceful, with you. Where no one would disturb us. Maybe Hange would come by from time to time, with their new car, and she would bring Erwin and Moblit and the others. And then they would go again and it would just be the two of us again. And that would our world be."
Something was off about Levi. His fingers were trembling a little, so where is strong shoulders. Something about that freaked you out more than it should. You knew that Levi hardly showed his emotions openly, that he never let any sign of vulnerability or weakness be seen by most. He was strong for others in many ways. And you found yourself scared of whatever it might be that got Levi to tremble. Maybe it was the same thing that made your mind stiff and numb.
There had been a fight between Levi and Zeke. That much you knew. But his fellow soldiers, three of them dear friends of yours, had been nowhere to be seen. You couldn't lie to yourself. There wasn't a thing like assuming the best in the survey corps. They would've never let Levi fight the beast titan alone. Your friends were dead. And so was everyone else. But you still had Levi. And Hange, wherever they were right now.
Maybe it was just the cold. It probably was, Levi wasn't exactly next to the fire. Taking off your cape, you placed it over Levi and tucked him in tight. Before you pulled back, you took his face in your hands and pressed a kiss onto his cheek, then you quickly let go of him. You should not have done that. You'd kissed many wounded and scared soldiers but Levi was different. You hadn't kissed him to do him a favor, to soothe him or calm him, no, that one had been for yourself. Ashamed, you took your face into your hands and peeked through your fingers, looking for Hange, but they still hadn't returned. They'd probably take a while.
Taking a deep breath, you brought a hand to his hair and massaged the spot that was untouched by the explosion. Soft strands of hair fell through your fingers and your thumb ran over his temple in steady motions. "Don't ask me to explain it, Levi, but I love you"
It was so easy and natural to say. It fell from your lips like the melody of a song, and you let it linger in the air for a little. It felt good to have said it. Said it to yourself, since he was still passed out.
Levi was afraid. Fear wasn't something he felt often, and if he did he supressed it. The only times he let himself be afraid where when it came to you, because he knew that fear was too strong to shove away. It was lingering in the back of his mind, attacking his clear thoughts every time he didn't know you were safe. And he didn't tell it to go away. Maybe it was what he deserved; to be tormented by himself after all the people he'd lost and hadn't been able to safe. He knew better than to blame himself for it, logic was against that, and he knew, if he thought so, he wouldn't end up anywhere. Or that was what he told himself. But maybe he deserved these torturing thoughts.
This constant fear was also tolerated because he appreciated it. It's mere existence proved yours, and that you were still alive. It was almost like a proof that your heart was still beating or might still be beating. The possibility was almost enough, if it weren't also for the other feelings he had.
The first time he had met you, he had been wounded, as he was now. As always, he had patched himself up in his room by himself. It was a pain in the ass, but there was nothing he despised more than hospitals and medical tents. The sick and wounded groaning that sounded like the last sounds of a dying animal to him, the blood and dirt everywhere, the amputated limps and the look in the faces of the people there. It was disgusting, so he had tended his wounds by himself, the best he could.
It had knocked on the door. Erwin had sent you. There hadn't been any reason to dismiss you after a shared tea and a talk. Pretty smart how you'd done that. Made him grow comfortable in your presence, so it was merely a question of reason to let you patch him up. You had accepted that he didn't want to get treated at a medical camp and you had come to his room after every mission.
The first thing he'd felt about you, before there was affection, admiration, adoration and that were just the words with a, was fear. It had begun with him fearing for your safety every time you were outside the walls. This fear now wasn't so different, but it felt different. You loved him. He loved you. So you were doomed. His numb and diffused brain couldn't think straight, but in essence, it came down to that. You were lost. As everyone who he had loved and who had loved him, you would die, and he would be powerless. Maybe he would collect your leftovers, but it was impossible for you to break out of the cycle that was his hell now.
Hange returned to the camp a little later. They hadn't found any animals but there had been numerous berries to be picked. When they arrived, you left to collect more firewood. As Hange prepared the meal, they heard Levi shift under his covers. Surprised, they turned around to find him still on his back. He had his hands brought up to his face and eyes open. Hange watched him closely as they waited for him to speak, tell them what had happened, but Levi remained in silence.
"Zeke is alive, if it escaped your attention earlier," Hange informed him. To Levi, it sounded like an accusation, though he knew Hange didn't mean it that way. Still. He had let the beast titan get away- again. It had been his responsibility from the beginning and he had failed Erwin, failed you. Why was it that he couldn't do it, no matter how hard he tried? Was he just not strong enough? And he was even weaker now. How should he fulfill his promise like this?
"I'm sorry," he said without looking at Hange. But he didn't want them to say anything about his apology, so he added: "Did you know about them?" He said your name after Hange was looking at him in confusion.
"What about them?" Hange asked, her gaze piercing Levi.
"Did you know that they love me?"
There was a long silence during which Hange took off their glasses, rubbed their eyes and put them on again. Levi watched them cautiously. Finally, Hange was finished and sighed. "Yes"
He nodded and turned his head away from them so Hange could only see the back of his head, but they had just too many questions to let him rest. "What did you answer? When they told you? They must've told you, right? You being so oblivious when it comes to love and all..."
"Hange!" Levi growled and the scientist laughed. The first laugh in a while. It wasn't quite like their old laughs, it sounded more like an old woman's caugh, but it was a sound of real amusement. How often had they laughed about the short man, especially about his excessive attempts to have his shit together in front of you. After Hange had calmed down, they looked at Levi expectantly. "Well?"
"Didn't answer," Levi grumbled and hid his face in your cape out of emberassement. It didn't help that it smelled a lot like you, and that was enough to get Levi even more flustered. Damn four-eyes...
"Ooh!" Hange exclaimed and her face showed a mix of amusement and anger. "Don't tell me... you chickened out? Did you seriously- Levi, if you don't take your chance, someone else might-"
"Shut up!" Levi groaned. His head was pounding from the conversation and he buried his nose deeper in your cape as he pulled it closer to his chest. His mind began to go foggy again, weird flashes of light befire his eyes. Fucking four-eyes. Did they have to make him feel even worse than he already did? It would be better for you to be in love with anyone else, and yet he hated that thought.
"Ah, I know," Hange said and filled whatever food they had made into three bowls. Almost sentimentally, they looked down at it and then at Levi. "If it weren't for this unfortunate situation. If there weren't any dangers... would you have answered then?"
"What does it matter?" Levi grumbled. After a while, a quiet "yes" was added, and Hange nodded in understanding.
"You know what, Levi?" they said and looked at the back of his head as they knew he was listening. "There is no such thing as fate and you know that. You aren't cursed, just incredibly unlucky. And yes. They may die. So might we. But do you thibk you're making anything easier by beating yourself up? What would be so bad about making their life a little better instead?"
"Huh?" Levi made and Hange smiled. What a dumbass.
"Nothing's gonna change if you answer them, Levi," they said slowly. "It's just you and them who will maybe be a little happier. This life may be short, but why not take the chances for happiness before they fly away? I know you doubt it, but you could make them happy, and you wouldn't even have to do much for that. And maybe it's time for a little more brightness in your life, too. It just got wonderfully lengthened against all odds."
Hange let their words linger a little as they waited for Levi to say something. They waited long, but then, when they thought he'd fallen asleep, they heard him say: "I'm not the type for that"
Unexpectedly, Hange snorted. "How would you know, shorty?"
"Levi!"
Both Hange and Levi looked up when you came running towards them through the trees. The haste you were in sent a wave of adrenaline through Levi, but he still couldn't move. You sprinted towards the injured man, got down on your knees making dirt fly in every direction and, to everyone's surprise threw your arms around Levi the best you could and pressed him into your body. His nose was poking your shoulder, his light breath was tickling the skin above your collar bone.
Until now, you had been worried that he wouldn't make it, wouldn't wake up, but here he was, wonderfully alive. Just now, you could let out a breath you had been holding since you'd first seen him bloodied and seemingly dead on that river. The relief made you almost estatic, and you continued to hug the completely unmoving captain for a few seconds before you let go reluctantly to check on his pulse, his stitched wounds and reflexes and swallow down whatever Hange had made without giving it much thought, even though the hunger had been eating you up. Then, you proceeded to look after Levi by feeding him the berries Hange had mixed together since he was incapable of moving.
Levi didn't seem all to happy about the new way of eating and you tried to make it easier for him by talking to Hange and not worsen his emberassement. But when there was some of the food left on his lip, you cleaned it with your thumb and smiled a little when he looked even grumpier than usual and avoided your gaze. Or maybe he was just thinking about something.
Hange said they would take the first watch on a nearby tree to overlook the area and you didn't try to talk them out of it. The exhaustion from the day prior and the mental toll all this had taken on you made you welcome every opportunity for sleep, and Levi needed rest, too.
"Are you warm enough?" You asked him as you freed the spot that would be your resting place of leaves.
"Yes," Levi said and followed your movements with his eyes. "You aren't though. You don't even have a cape anymore. Tch, brat, do you have nothing to cover yourself with?"
You had indeed given all blankets and capes to Levi, but he was still the one who needed it the most, so you chirped: "I'll be just fine." Actually, it was pretty chilly already, and as the night would go on, it would probably get even colder, but you didn't want to make him feel bad.
"That doesn't answer my fucking question," Levi said hoarsly and glared at you. He seemed weirdly angry and you sighed. It was one of those days. How could it not be? You knew him well enough, he was conflicted about something. It had probably something to do with Zeke.
"Do you have another idea then?"
Levi didn't actually say anything, but he moved a little which caused you to storm over to him in panic. "Please don't move, your wounds-" Then, you realized that he had created space under the blankets next to him and was looking up at you expectantly. Your eyes widened. A tingle of nervousness shot through your body at the thought of sleeping next to him, but it was also inviting, aside from Levi also the warmth his covers would spend.
Levi saw that you were still hestitating and glared at you once more. "Hurry up, brat, or do you plan on hovering over me all night?" But deep in his chest, his heart was beating harder than it was supposed to.
"S-sure," you said. No big deal, right? Just two friends with one being hopelessly in love with the other, spending the night. You crawled under the covers carefully and were greeted by the comforting warmth of the covers and Levi's body heat. If you had only been a little more tired, you'd have probably snuggled into his body unhinged, but now you just layed down a few inches from him in hopes that he wouldn't hear how fast your heart was beating.
"Oi," Levi said. His tone was less commanding now. It was softer. It was the tone of the after-an-expedition nights in his room. "Come closer, you're pulling the covers away."
"Sorry," you mumbled sleepily, moved a little more over to him and placed your head on his bicep. He had wanted you to come closer, now you were closer. His body was so warm, you couldn't help but grab his arm with your hands and press your face into his shoulder. Maybe you were just imagining that, but it sounded like Levi's breath got stuck in his throat.
A bandaged hand found your upper arm and massaged it a little. "I will never hurt you, brat. You know that, right?" You could feel the vibrations in his chest as your hand had somehow found its way there.
"Of course I do" you yawned and snuggled into his body as you closed your eyes and let him caress your arm. This was nice. This was the closest you had ever come to your dreams.
Within seconds, you were out. Levi realized it by the way your chest was rising and falling eavenly and you were drooling a little on his bandaged chest. He raised a hand to wipe it away, but it found it's way to your hair instead as he let his fingers card through it. A quiet mumbling sound fell from your lips and he couldn't help but smile as you hugged his arm more tightly and he heard you say his name in your sleep.
"Ah, fucking hell, shitty-glasses," he whispered, careful that you wouldn't wake up. A little smile had formed on your lips.

think of me fondly (levi x reader)
Rating: Explicit Pairing: Levi Ackerman/Gender-neutral!Reader Summary: Levi's having trouble adjusting to his missing fingers for a certain task. You offer him a hand. (Literally.)
Also posted on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/51864445
Levi’s apartment is completely dark when you let yourself in. You can’t hear anything from his bedroom and no light is peeking out from under the door, but Levi doesn’t nap often, so you knock gently before opening the door and stepping in. “Levi?”
Levi, eyes squeezed tightly shut and hand moving quickly under his blankets, doesn’t notice your quiet voice or entry.
Holy shit.
A mouthwatering flush has spread down his neck to his bare chest, and some of his dark hair sticks to his forehead with sweat. Though you look away after a few frozen seconds, the image is seared into your brain. Warmth coils low in your belly.
What do you do? If you shut the door and knock louder, you won’t be able to pretend you hadn’t seen anything once you make eye contact with him. You’re a terrible actor. But that would be better than him seeing you standing there like a pervert, face averted but blushing furiously.
With the arousal slowing your thought process, you decide too late. Levi’s eyes flicker open, and in your periphery, his whole body freezes.
An uncomfortable silence hangs in the air for a few heartbeats.
Your tongue feels abnormally clumsy as you rush to apologize. “Levi, I’m so sorry, I was careless and didn’t wait before opening the door and I can just go, I’ve been intruding so often—”
“Oi.”
You peek up from under your lashes at him. He’s glaring at his hands.
“Don’t you dare disappear on me. I can’t—I knew you were coming, but I lost track of time. Can’t get off with these shitty injuries.”
“Oh.” That hadn’t occurred to you. Though you’re plenty open with each other, the two of you don’t talk about sex or romance; he doesn’t seem like the type to be interested in anyone, so you’ve always avoided the topic in fear of heartbreak.
You mean to tease him to restore your usual dynamic as friends, but what comes out of your mouth instead is mortifying. “Would you want any help with that?”
What the absolute fuck was that?
He gapes at you. “Are you fucking with me?”
“No,” you grimace. You definitely don’t want to make your feelings known, but he’s in an incredibly vulnerable position, and you prioritize his feelings over your own pride, so: “I’m being serious. I like you a lot.”
Levi’s quiet for a moment, then smiles faintly. “Come here, then.”
Giddy disbelief bubbles up in you, and you can’t dispel the huge grin on your face as you hop onto the bed. Maintaining eye contact, you slowly reach up to cradle his jaw and lean in. Your eyes flutter shut, and your lips meet so gently it makes your heart ache.
“Does this mean you like me too?” you murmur.
Levi nods solemnly.
In response, you kiss him again. You tentatively run the tip of your tongue against his bottom lip, and he releases a quiet, breathy moan. It emboldens you to lick in further, past his soft lips to touch his tongue. The two of you sigh simultaneously, and you shift closer to him. His body heat is delicious, as is his mouth. You can’t get enough. Desperation smolders in your chest, and Levi must feel similarly, because he caresses your hip, then grasps it to pull you closer. Your hand lands on his chest to balance yourself, so you can feel his heart slam against his ribcage. It fills you with a gooey warmth, and you smile against his lips.
At the feeling of your smile, Levi whines and thrusts his hips up minutely. You rest your weight against Levi, sliding your hand down his perfect chest and flat stomach before hovering your fingers over his cock.
Levi tilts his head back and pants, eyes heavy-lidded. “Touch me,” he pleads.
You shove down the covers and look down both your bodies to watch your fingers gently wrap around his shaft. He gasps and arches up.
You squeeze, and he groans. You drag a finger through his slit, gathering up pre-come, and watch him as you slip your finger into your mouth to taste. Levi makes a small noise at the back of his throat and impatiently tugs at your wrist.
Obligingly, you lick your palm and move your hand back down. You spread the pre-come that’s been steadily leaking from his slit to lubricate a firm stroke from base to tip, and he moans lowly at the contact. You begin to pick up your pace, relishing the silky feel of him. An unbearable heat is gathering in your core as you pant into each other’s mouths.
It feels like only a minute has passed when he tenses up and pushes you back.
“Wait,” he says, voice strained. “I’m already close.”
You press your thighs together. “God, that's hot,” you breathe. “Can I…?” You move down the bed. From here you notice Levi’s chest rise and fall more rapidly. His pupils are blown as you hold his cock to your lips, the steel blue of his irises barely visible.
“God, yes.”
You circle your fingers around the base of his cock and lave at the head, admiring how it glistens in the dim light coming from the window.
“Fuck,” Levi moans.
You take him into your mouth until he touches your throat, bob your head once, twice, and—
“Shit! Wait!”
You look up at him and suck, not slowing down.
“Oi!” Levi tugs at your hair desperately. “I’m going to—”
Before he can finish his sentence, he releases a guttural groan and curls into himself. His cock pulses against your tongue and bitter warmth spills into your mouth. Levi shakes and gasps as he comes apart, gripping your hair. You watch the pleasure contort those beautiful features before his face smooths out and he falls back onto the bed, breathing heavily.
Once he catches his breath and looks down at you, you swallow. He flops his head back and groans, hiding his red face in his arm. Then, something seems to occur to him, and he sits up to glare at you.
“Don’t make fun of me for how fast that was. It’s been a while.”
“It was hot!” you protest.
“I didn’t think you’d want me to come in your mouth. Disgusting,” he says.
It certainly doesn’t look like he’s disgusted. In fact, he looks rather pleased.
You lie down next to him, replacing the covers, and kiss his cheek. It turns a lovely pink at the affection. Levi turns his back to you and shuffles backward and, following his cue, you turn onto your side as well and wrap an arm around him. You press your face into the junction between his neck and shoulder and inhale. Contentment settles in your bones.
“That actually was kind of embarrassing for you. Also, you couldn’t have used your other hand or something?”
“You think I haven’t tried? Just shut up and cuddle me, asshole.”

You teach Levi how to make snow angels. Turns out warm things can blossom in winter, too.

Winters are a drag. Endless days of white, filled with the kind of cold that bites, and not nearly enough distractions to occupy restless minds.
Levi hates winter. He hates the cold.
He doesn’t know if it’s the fact that he grew up lacking sun or that he is, as doctors like to say, too scrawny—but he’s always fucking cold. This is his third year above ground, and he’s still not used to the changing weather.
But you... you love winter. You get damn excited when the season comes.
There’s the first snowfall that gets you grinning like a cute goofball. There’s the first snowman you always build with Hange (this year, you made them look like titans—a pair of weirdos, the two of you are). There’s the hot drinks you always make on the first winter day, delivered to all Scout soldiers.
You love winter.
This year is no exception.
“What's all of this?” Levi asks, face impassive as he stares at the strange sight that awaits him.
You, all joyful-looking, are laying in one of the empty training fields. A blanket of snow covers the landscape in broad daylight, painting the world in white. Snowflakes sprinkle down, and you try to catch them with your tongue, warm breath puffing out a veil that resembles gossamer.
How careless. What are you thinking, laying in the snow like this? You're going to catch a cold.
Yes, you're sporting a warm coat, and yes, you're wearing the green mittens Levi knitted for you (green is your best color, no doubt about it), but it's still fucking winter. This isn't the time to get sick.
But, as always, you pay his skeptical gaze no mind; you’re too busy moving your arms in up-and-down motion, ploughing through snow.
“I'm making snow angels,” you explain at last, voice dulcet like a winter melody. Curious eyes find him. “Have you ever made one before?"
A draft of wind stings Levi's face. He shivers.
"No."
This fact seems to peek your interest.
"Oh," you say, "then you must try it! Why don't you lay down and follow my lead?”
“No, thanks.”
Levi has no intention of getting his ass all wet. He's cold just looking at you.
And anyway, what is it with upsiders and their strange habits? He doesn't know a single person living in the Underground who would ever willingly lay on the cold, wet ground. Maybe Isabel—she would have liked snow. She was a kid after all... just a kid.
“C’mon, Levi, give it a try!” you insist. “This is fun.”
Levi huffs out a grunt. “This looks like the opposite of fun.”
You perk up with your elbows. Snow clings to your hair. You look like you're wearing a crown of white.
“Please.”
You say that one word with a pleading gaze, all crinkled eyes and pouty mouth.
Cute. You think you can convince him with an act.
No such luck.
“No.” Levi is firm with his decision, crossing his arms over his chest.
You don't look bothered by his rejection, shrugging nonchalantly.
“Then you leave me no choice,” you declare.
Levi raises a brow.
Without giving him an explanation, you suddenly stand up. He frowns, muscles tensing as you saunter towards him. He knows what you’re about to do, he knows it and yet—
You surprise him by planting your plush lips on his own.
Oh.
You kiss him.
And as Levi tastes snow on your lips, he decides if there’s one thing he likes about winter, it’s the taste of you.
"You're so warm," you murmur against his lips.
Of course, Levi knows your sweet words are but a ruse in disguise. Soon, your hands settle on his forearms.
And you push him back, just as Levi thought you would all along. Levi lets you, because this snow and your damn playfulness somehow remind him of Isabel and Furlan, and how they never got to witness snow.
Still, just because he's allowed to be pushed doesn't mean that he doesn't intend to make you pay—oh no, if he's going down, he'll make sure to take you with him. He grabs your wrists, and the two of you topple backwards.
Levi is the first one to land on his back, the impact of the fall cushioned by the snow, and you follow him, falling right on top of him.
Snow stings his exposed hands, and he groans.
But then you’re giggling in his ear, your laughter chiming like bells, and Levi forgets all about how cold feels. Freckles of white weave around you, framing you like pale moonlight, and Levi thinks you could belong in a painting, all dressed in white.
Smiling, you bend down and drop a last kiss on the tip of his nose. Blood rushes to his cheeks, dusting them in a rosy hue, and you chuckle at the sight (Levi will later deny blushing at all—like hell one kiss gets him so flustered).
“Now, we're ready to begin,” you announce after you hop off him.
You sit next to him and tap the white ground.
“Follow my lead, 'Vi.”
Levi watches you through a lidded stare.
“What the hell is a snow angel, anyway?” he asks.
“I believe it's meant to be a human with wings.”
“That's not something that exists.”
You hum. “Well, it's an imaginary thing, you know? Like something kids grow up reading about in fables?”
“I wouldn't know.”
That's not entirely true. His mother used to tell him stories, only he was too young to remember them. He thinks her stories must have been full of light, just like she was.
Your gentle stare locks with his, almost as if you could read Levi's thoughts. “Then I suppose we have some making up to do, huh?"
Levi stays silent. He lifts his hand to your cheek, and he lets his caress speak for his gratitude. You smile, a true smile that makes your eyelids crinkle.
"You know, I think I may have found the perfect analogy." Snow crunches beneath you as you shift your weight around. "Think of snow angels like the Survey Corps. We Scout soldiers are the Wings of Freedom, right? So just imagine we're molding a shape into the snow... that of a human with wings."
Wings of Freedom.
Levi likes the idea. It's corny, sure, but it's cute.
It reminds him of—shit, of course it does—of Isabel and Furlan. Of their dreams to live above ground. How Levi is going to carry them for the rest of his days, his own wings propelling them forward.
And for the first time since their deaths, Levi doesn't feel entirely empty at the thought of them. Yes, the grief is there, it's always there... it'll always be present. But now, there is something more to it. There is all the love for them, all the love he never got to express, all the love that continues to manifest in their memories... and that part fills him with warmth.
“Ready for the lesson?" you ask.
Levi nods.
You start to move. "You're going to need to to move your hands and legs like this, see? Then it’s going to make it seem like you’re drawing a person with wings in the snow.”
“Do I look like an artist to you?”
You chuckle. “I promise, drawing isn't a skill you need to make snow angels. Anyone can do it, that's the beauty of it! Now, you try.”
Levi complies. He lays on the ground and stares at the muted sky—who knew winter skies could look so peaceful? Then, he begins to move his limbs in accordion.
And despite the snow, he finds he's no longer cold.
Finally, once you're both done making your angels, you stand up to look at your work. The angels are a patchwork at best, but they look like they’re holding hands, and you seem glad about that.
“It’s pretty, isn’t it?” you murmur. You've removed one of your mittens, and you slip your fingers between his own.
Levi stares, eyes softening.
“Yeah, pretty.”

Reassuring Kisses
Pairing: Levi x reader
Warnings: mentions of blood, insecurities, sad levi :( fluff at the end tho. Slight spoilers for s4.
Bro he looks so sad
Tumblr media
“Where’s Levi?” You asked Hange with a shake in your voice.
You and the others finally met up with Levi and Hange in the forest after escaping the Jeagerists. You haven’t seen Levi since Zeke was captured and heard rumors of an explosion near their camp.
The crunch of leaves and twigs under your boots caught his attention.
Levi grunted when he leaned up in the cart he was sitting in. He was sheltered away from the others as Hange thought he would rest better with a moment of privacy.
Your breath shuddered when he held up his hand to wave at you, both his pointer and middle finger just mere stubs. “Oh, Levi.”
Your arms wrapped around his neck and you pulled him in a loose hug, being mindful of his injuries. “I’m so glad you’re okay.”
“It’s fine, (y/n).” He said, voice holding no emotion. “It is a setback I’ll be honest, but it doesn’t mean I still can’t kill Zeke when we find him.”
A small shake of your head answered his comment. You gently grabbed his injured hand and studied the bandages. They were tight enough to stop the bleeding, just two small patches of blood on the outside but nothing drastic.
Turning his hand over, you kissed the back of his hand. “Yeah, well… I might beat you to it.” A dry chuckle escaped your lips.
You held up a fresh roll of bandages in your hand. “Hange wanted me to change them for you.”
A sigh left him and he avoided his gaze from your eyes. He didn’t want you to see his wounds. Not yet at least. Almost as if he was ashamed.
Your finger gently ran under his chin, lifting his head up.
“Hey, you’ve been taking care of me for years.” A light kiss was placed on his forehead. “Now it’s my turn to take care of you.”
Your words reassured Levi as he nodded slightly and used his good hand to start unwrapping the bandages. His eyes were locked onto your shirt as you took over, refusing once again to meet your eyes as you finished unwrapping his face. The wounds and cuts on display.
A wave of silence washed over you both as you studied his face.
Levi took your silence as a bad response and sighed. “It’s bad, isn’t it?”
“I mean… for almost getting your face blown off, I think you still look pretty good.” You gave him a small smile and stood in front of him.
Levi still wouldn’t look at you.
Alright, no time for jokes then.
Discarding the soiled bandages, you took his face in your hands very carefully. “You’re still my strong soldier.”
Your eyes ran over the large gashes that ran down his eye, cheek and part of his lips, hastily stitched up by Hange. Poor thing.
Levi seemed to lighten up at your touch, his eyes closing and he leaned into your hand. Your thumb brushed over the edge of his lips, before swiping over his other cheek. “I love you, nothing will ever change that.”
Levi’s hand went up to the back of your head and slightly dug into your roots before pulling you down to him. Lips met gently and the passionate moment of intimacy was what you both needed after an eventful couple days.
“Mm, Levi.” You muttered into his mouth. “I don’t want you to hurt yourself.”
His tongue ran over your bottom lip before his lips suctioned onto yours once more.
“Don’t worry about it.” He grumbled and his hand tightened on your hair, his other arm wrapping around your waist and tugging you closer to him, careful to not put pressure on his injured hand.
Levi shuffled under the blanket before pulling you onto the cart with him, you being positioned between his legs.
After timeless moments of you both being lip-locked, you pulled away. Levi’s grip loosened on your hair, the pads of his fingers smoothening down the tussled tresses.
Levi finally fastened his eyes to yours. A glossy wall in front of his blue irises. He clasped your hand in his and ran his thumb over your knuckles. “I love you.”
Your thumb swiped a fallen tear that trailed below his eye.
“I love you more, Captain.” You smiled before unwrapping the fresh roll of gauze. “Now, let me take care of you.”

drabble prompt # 7- “why didn’t you say how bad it was?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You idiot," Levi muttered under his breath. He was beyond frustrated, how could you let this happen? How could he let this happen.
You winced as the medic prodded at your wounded arm, causing a fresh wave of pain to shoot through your body. Levi's eyes narrowed as he watched your reaction, his jaw clenched tightly.
It started on your latest expedition, you’d been fighting a particularly vicious Titan when it managed to get its hands on you. Levi, of course, was able to kill it before it could really crush you, or worse, eat you. Unfortunately it still left a hefty amount of damage, damage you kept from your worried boyfriend. So here you were, laid out and injured in your room getting bandaged up.
Once the medics left you alone, Levi was unable to suppress his frustration any longer, "Why the hell didn't you speak up about how bad it was?" he demanded, his eyes narrowing. "I can't protect you if you keep important shit like this from me."
You looked up at him. His steel blue eyes bore into yours, and you could see the worry etched into his features. Taking a deep breath, you tried to respond, your voice slightly strained.
“I...I didn't want to worry you," you admitted, a weak smile forming on your lips. "I knew you had enough on your plate."
“Don't be stupid!” his voice had an edge to it, his frustration evident in his tone. You couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt at his words. You knew that Levi was already burdened with the weight of the war and the responsibilities of being Captain. On top of that he held the title of “humanity’s strongest soldier”. The last think you wanted was to add to his worries.
“But Levi, I know how much you have to deal with, I didn't want to add to your stress. There’s no need to worry.”
Levi let out a frustrated sigh, his eyes never leaving yours. "Seriously? You think I don't worry about you? That I don't care about your well-being?"
You felt a mix of emotions wash over you. On one hand, it felt nice to hear how much your boyfriend cared about you, but on the other hand, you hated the thought of burdening him further.
“It’s not that, Levi," you tried to sit up in bed but Levi’s stern gaze kept you in place.
“Stay put," he said firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument. "You need to rest."
You sighed, realizing that there was no use in trying to fight his orders. You settled back onto the bed, giving him a defeated nod. "Alright, fine. But please, Levi, understand that I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to add to the list of things you already have on your plate.”
Levi approached the bed, his footsteps heavy. He sat down on the edge of the bed, his tone carrying a hint of frustration. "Do you think I can't handle it? That I can't handle taking care of you? You're dead wrong."
“I never said you couldn't handle it, Levi," you retorted. “It’s not about that. I just…I hate feeling this way. You’re more capable than me and I don’t want to burden you by getting in the way.”
Levi's brows furrowed, frustration mixing with concern. “Listen, you stubborn brat," he said, his voice firm. "You're not burdening me. If something happened to you…” his voice cut off for a second as he looked away, “Just tell me next time. Don’t hide shit from me.”
You could see the genuine worry in Levi's eye. His words slowly start to sink in, “You're right, Levi," you admitted, your voice quieter now. "I shouldn't have kept it from you. We're a team, and that means being honest with each other."
Levi's gaze met yours again, his features slightly less hardened. “Good. Keeping things from me doesn’t do either of us any good. I do care about you, you’re important to me.”
A small smile tugged at the corners of your lips. You reached out and gently took his hand, squeezing it. "I know. I’m sorry. I love you and I promise I’ll do better.”
Levi looked at you. He didn't say anything for a moment, his grip on your hand tightening. Then, he leaned in closer, “You better," he replied, giving you a stern look "Because if you ever hide something like this from me again, I won't be held responsible for what I do."
You chuckled softly. "I'll keep that in mind, Captain," you teased.
Levi rolled his eyes. "Just don't forget it," he muttered, his fingers tracing over the bandages on your arm. "I can't protect you if you don't let me."
You leaned in closer, resting your head against his. "I know, Levi," you whispered. "And I appreciate everything you do for me."
Levi wrapped his arm around you, pulling you closer to him. He didn't need to say anything else, because his actions spoke for themselves. Showing you how much Levi Ackerman truly did love you.

grapes were levi’s favourite fruit. they weren’t easy to find, so he would pop them in his mouth one by one, because it meant he could enjoy them for longer. occasionally, he would stretch over the table and offer you one, giving you a disgusted look when you licked his finger playfully. he still smiled when he thought you weren’t looking.
“what are you reading?” he asked, his voice echoing in the empty kitchen.
“hange’s new tactic for tomorrow.” you held the pages up, sighing deeply. “they’re crazy if they think we’re coming back alive after this.”
his pained expression made you feel almost guilty for stating your worry. your eyes softened and you tried to forget about the upcoming expedition with a handful of grapes.
“hey!” he gasped when you shoved them all in your mouth, leaving the bowl almost empty. the way you laughed and gestured for him to come over made him forget about it quickly.
“i’ll get you more of them, you big baby.” levi slid his chair back and walked around the table, throwing his arms around you and kissing the top of your head.
“promise?”
“yeah, i promise i’ll get you more grapes, levi.” you rolled your eyes.
“no, promise you’ll be safe tomorrow. things might get out of hand and if we get separated...”
i won’t be able to protect you
he wanted to say, but never could. the way his arms tightened around you and his lips fell on your cheek, let you know what he meant. you basked in the moment, caressing his rough hand with your own bandaged one.
“y/n? it’s 4 in the morning, you…” a voice broke you out of your thoughts. you felt cold all of a sudden, and looked up to see levi was gone. the chair across from you was empty, but for an all too familiar jacket hanging on the back of it.
the grapes in the bowl were covered by a thin layer of mold.
right. you never had the chance to bring them to him.

We hit 400 followers!! Love you guys T-T 🤎
As promised, a scenario in which Levi has to continually put up with reader’s bratty teasing until he just cant take it anymore-
(trying out some light smut here for the first time :3 key word light, don’t judge)
One thing Levi Ackerman never expected to enjoy was what he would commonly refer to as ‘mushy sappy shit’.
And yet here he was, shooting you a look across the room from where you both sat; his brows drawn up and his lower lip slightly pouted as he gave you what you adoringly called his ‘needy eyes’.
“Y/N?” He tried again, wondering for the nth time if this was what it would take you to come across the room to him, if he dared to speak your name so softly.
“ ‘Y/N’…what?” You’d teasingly chuckle in response. Oh, how you loved to tease him so, if only to watch the way his usual scowl turned into a grumpy pout. He’d rather die than have anyone else see an exchange such as this one, but when it was just the two of you, he’d let your bratty behavior slide in favor of the warmth you would inevitably provide him after you tired of your game.
So he sat patiently, even scooting his chair slightly towards an angle, as though to silently make his pleas for contact more feasible in your eyes.
And goddamnit, how it worked nearly every time. But today, you decided you’d rather have him ask a little nicer before giving in.
“How am I to know just what it is you want, if you won’t directly ask it?” You tried again, biting your lip to hold back a giggle bubbling in your throat. Levi scowled, casting his eyes downward.
If he had to play dirty to get his way, then so be it.
“Y/N, baby…come sit on my lap, please?” He rasped out, shooting you his most convincing look through inky bangs.
It was uncharacteristic, the way he was behaving. But even more so was your reactions; thighs squeezing a little tighter together on the sofa and a soft breath caught in your throat in place of the giggle that had since been smothered out.
Feeling your face tingle with what you could only assume was an inevitable blush, you attempted to clear your throat.
“Sit…sit on your l-lap?” You nearly choked getting the words out of your suddenly dry mouth. In response he only loosed a tired breath before shoving back his chair from his desk to take a stand.
“Fine, have it your way.” He mumbled, stalking across the room towards you. As he approached, you subconsciously scooted back on the couch’s plush seat and held your breath.
“You’ve had your fun; an hour’s worth, as I recall. And I’ve had to sit there and just endure it. Do you know what that does to me?” He snorted a barley there chuckle, looking deeply into your eyes as he leaned against the couch towards your face.
“All I wanted was you to sit with me. Maybe get a kiss, if I were lucky. But I think enough is enough; don’t you, darling?” His tone dropped an octave, husky tone shaking you to the core.
“I-“
“No, sweetheart. You can be quiet now. You’ve won, after all. But…I’ll be taking the prize this time.”
His breathe tickled your neck, nudging your chin to the side with his forehead to allow him further access to the sensitive skin there. Your hands instinctively searched for his, but didn’t make the grasp in time before his slender fingers were already making their way up either side of your thighs towards the loosely tied string keeping your lounge pants up at the waist.
“Levi-“ You gasped out, finding your voice was all but gone.
He groaned softly, lips sucking tenderly at your pulse point.
“Hush, love,” He whispered against your throat, the need in his tone unmistakable.
“Just relax…relax for me.”
Loosening the cravat around his neck, he looses a shaky sigh as his breaths drew in shakier and his lips eagerly made the short journey from your neck towards your jaw, only stopping to worship it for a moment before continuing on.
Oh, how had the roles of your long played game suddenly turned on you. Now it was him, teasing you with barley there kisses along your cheeks, kissing antagonistically close to your lips but never touching. Meanwhile, you couldn’t help your thighs but to squirm against the feather light touches from the pads of his fingers. Before you knew it, the string had come undone from your waistline and fell across your thighs, shortly followed by the thin material of your lounge pant’s waistband.
A broken, shuddery gasp slipped past your lips unbidden, the moment those same tantalizing fingers ghosted over the even thinner material of your briefs, making your hips flinch against the pressure.
You were only briefly distracted by the dry chuckle resonating from Levi’s parted lips now hovering over your own, drawing your attention to the way he panted above your figure with barely contained desire.
“You’ve teased me for weeks. Now it’s my turn darling, so sit back and take it.”
