Hi!! Of course, they've been rotting my brain anew for the better part of 2 years now, happy to have provided! 🫡

As far as making fancomics, it depends on what you mean! I've made a couple of mini comics (about 1-3 pages) before, linked here: x x

But as far as a full-on comic, no I haven't! I haven't ever trained/studied on how to go about doing that in a long form. But maybe someday! :)) I do have a couple fic ideas that I think would work well as comics, so perhaps those would be good comic-attempt-fodder.

Thank you to all those who submitted bids and offers, raising a total of $817 dollars for public defenders. Jean Valjean might be fictional, but his situation is all too common. Your donations go to ensure that no one faces a court case that could send them to jail for years without the benefit of legal counsel. In an underfunded field, every dollar counts when it comes to preventing injustice.

$817 is almost DOUBLE what we raised in the last auction, Winter 2021-2022, or in the previous one in Winter 2020-2021. You are all amazing. On a personal level, it was great to come back from a year off (Winter 2022-2023) to so much enthusiasm and so many cool items. The sixteen offers ranged from linocuts to zines to embroidery to bound books. Among the other offers were beautiful art, creative fic and poems, a translation commission, and even an Enjolras gift pack.

I was also moved by how many bidders donated more than their original bid, sometimes even doubling their offer. Not one person defaulted when it came time to get their donations in. People in countries or states that didn't have ways to donate to local public defenders came through with creative solutions, such as donating to legal aid for refugees or sending their donation to groups in another state or country. We had a hiccup with the listed organizations requiring credit cards, but it was resolved by finding a Louisiana public defender group that took Paypal. In the end, every bid came through, and many with extra.

As I'm one person running this in my spare time, I truly appreciate how easy you all have made it for me. It's been years since this Les Mis fandom tradition started, and I hope to keep it going for many more to come. Thank you all for your participation!

The Bishop Myriel Fundraiser will be back in December, and here's my goal: let's try to break 20 offers and $1000 raised next year!

ci sono molte cose che vorrei fare e che non riesco a svolgere perché, per la maggior parte del tempo, mi sento mentalmente stanco. riesco appena a svolgere una routine: lavorare, ascoltare dischi, pulire casa, un po' di attività fisica; le mie energie finiscono lì e, se non trascinato, non riesco a fare altro. certo, l'elenco è senza dubbio dignitoso, ho vissuto stati ben più catatonici, ma sento che di questo passo non avrò mai alcun reale cambiamento. non voglio vivere per inerzia: vorrei studiare di più, seguire dei corsi, fare una zine ma non trovo le forze. neppure riesco a farmi degli amici per quanto sono scostante

Les zones rurales ne sont pas vierges de nos histoires!

Histoires réelles, ou fantasmées, les espaces « hors ville » modifient souvent nos perceptions et nos possibles en tant que queer (et pas que).

Ces espaces apparaissent bien différents selon nos vécus, et se superposent aux enjeux préexistants entre villes et ruralités.

Car si la vie queer est évidente en ville, elle semble impalpable hors des « hameaux » de 20 000 habitantx ! ET POURTANT!

>> Partageons nos créations! Racontons nos enjeux, nos mémoires, nos réflexions, nos questionnements et les spécificités de nos environnements.

Nous attendons avec impatience vos contributions autour des ruralités en tant que personnes queer*!

since AO3 is down, temporarily, I propose a brief return to the roots of ‘zines and emailing lists and basically here’s a list of fanfiction pdfs I downloaded off AO3 at various points that I can send to people in need of reading material:

I have not and will not alter the pdfs in any way - they’re exactly what you’d get from AO3. I’m just willing to email/message them to people on request

i haven’t really thought about selling prints specifically of my les mis art but if there’s enough interest, i wouldn’t mind setting up a quick store or a short run? sometimes i table at art fests/cons but i haven’t done so in a couple of years, maybe next time i do i’ll do some les mis prints (….zines? if that’s a thing people would enjoy??) along with my usual fare
