I don’t believe this. We gotta beat the game’s Story Mode first before we could take pictures of Vaporeon at the Reef’s Spot during Sunset.

Research Camp
The Research Camp is where Professor Mirror’s research station is situated on the islands. It features a few cabins for the members of the research team, a fire pit and the laboratory. This is where everyone rests between expeditions, which should indicate that this is the safest space to be in. After all, you wouldn’t let young children sleep somewhere dangerous, right?
Tumblr media
Well, in truth, it is definitely the safest location of all of them, but still not without its dangers. While Cutiefly, Bunnelby, Stoutland, Eevee, Starly, Meowth, Audino and Sudowoodo are either too skittish to attack or entirely benevolent towards humans, there are a few Pokémons that should be treated carefully and one that should absolutely not be in this camp.
Tumblr media
Dedenne and Rattata, while small and not a real threat to most people, still possess abilities that could be painful. The first can shoot electricity out of its whiskers at will, which it does when stealing power from buildings (something that doesn’t seem particularly conductive in a research lab), while the latter is known to bite and the size of its teeth tell me this wouldn’t be a pleasant experience.
Tumblr media
The next Pokémon on our list is Pikachu. It is said that being electrocuted by one is the same as being struck by a lightning bolt, an average of 300 million Volts. While the survival rate of such an event is a fortunate 90%, 80% of those survivors will sustain long-term injuries. Why would you keep a Pikachu (who is not entirely tamed by the looks of it) in proximity of children is beyong my comprehension.
Tumblr media
The presence of the last Pokémon is truly puzzling. In a few spots in the camp, you can find Trubbish. This small bag of garbage mimic may look unremarkable, but it emits a noxious gas so powerful that any adult who inhale it will be bedridden for a week. Yes, I did say adult. Because the same fumes has been proven to be fatal to young Pokémons and children. A Trubbish will stop emitting this foul gas when it befriends someone but as shown on the course several times, this Trubbish is not a tamed one.

I've been watching Vinny Vinesauce play New Pokémon Snap and I just adore seeing all the Pokémon in their natural habitats. The different environments are all super stunning but the underwater ones have to be my favorite

Florio Nature Park
The first location of the research program is Florio Nature Park, which can be visited during the day and at night.
Tumblr media
There are two routes, one of them going on the lake over a dam built by Bidoofs.
While this is the tutorial course and should contain no danger to a 10 years old child, it actually houses a few Pokémons that shouldn't be approached the way the NEO-ONE allows us to.
According to my research, there are only thirteen (13) entirely safe Pokémons on the course. They are: Vivillon, Grookey, Caterpie, Ducklett, Taillow, Magikarp, Hoothoot, Comfey, Florges, Sylveon, Shaymin, Meganium and Eevee. These are Pokémons that do not pose any danger to a child in pretty much any condition unless you were to actively attack them.
Tumblr media
Then, we have a few Pokémons that I categorize as "relatively safe" as they could cause damage: Wurmple is not aggressive but has poisonous spikes, Bidoof is not easily perturbed and can eat through rocks and metal, Torterra - while passive - is almost 700lbs and could accidentally crush you, and the combo of Combees and Vespiquen could be troublesome if they felt unsafe as Combees will kill anything that is a threat to their queen.
Tumblr media
The next tier is the Pokémons who could hurt you without meaning to: Pichu who has no control over the storage of its electricity and electrocutes people unintentionally, Scorbunny who can inflict burns with the pads of his feet and ignite small fires, Emolga who uses its electricity to fly as well as grill food (berries and bug Pokémons), and Murkrow who is known to play -sometimes dangerous- pranks on travelers.
Tumblr media
I'm taking a pause here to introduce a Pokémon that I cannot categorize properly: Tangrowth is known to ensnare its prey in its vines, it is a massive Pokémon who displayed some anger to being disturbed but without knowing its diet, I do not know how dangerous it could be.
Tumblr media
The last category contains the six Pokémons with strength enough to kill or at least seriously maim a young child. My research tells me that Swanna uses its long neck to attack repeatedly and rapidly with "exceptional strength". Dodrio is an almost 200lbs bird with three sharp beaks who will peck relentlessly when confused or disturbed. Bouffalant can destroy a car with a headbutt - I doubt the NEO-ONE could survive this force. Pigeot can fly faster than the speed of sound and uses its wings to create windstorms. Heracross, while vegetarian, can lift and throw objects 100 times its own weight of approximatively 120lbs. And Pinsir can use its pincers to, and I quote, "crush, toss, bludgeon, or tear opponents; lift things twice its weight; and shatter logs". These Pokémons should be left well alone.

don’t want to spoil anything but New Pokemon Snap??? An absolute banger
I love it so much <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Just finished the main story and HOLY HECK it’s amazing! I also love that Professor Mirror is canonically a nerd who never leaves his house.
And the return of Todd?? Amazing. Perfect. Will probably not stop thinking about him for the next several hours
SPOILERS FROM HERE!!! PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED NEW POKEMON SNAP AND STILL INTEND TO
________________________________________________
ok so the plot and lore was surprisingly good. It was a fun mystery that I found myself invested in! I love the six Illumina Pokemon, and seeing Xerneas at the end was super good! X was my first Pokemon game, so of course I was super happy.
Throughout the adventure I was wondering why they chose the colours they did for the Crystablooms. Realizing that the red, purple, orange, and blue Crystablooms alligned with the colours of Xerneas’ antlers was really epic. That whole last Illumina Spot was SUPER good. I want to know what made them choose the Pokemon they chose for the other Illumina Spots, but overall I love the added lore to Xerneas. Xerneas, Meganium, Milotic, Wishiwashi, Volcarona, and Steelix are all epic and I love the implication that (maybe because of the Illumina effect and Xerneas’ life-giving properties) they are all thousands of years old. Still confused a lil bit about how there are two Volcarona tho, or if all Pokemon of the selected species become Illumina Pokemon?? Because there was only one Volcarona in the statues and murals.
(I guess by the same logic, there’s like hundreds of Wishiwashi but that Pokemon’s got a gimmick to I don’t count that for my confusion)
I love Captain Vince and his Travelogue, and I love that his Travelogue was not complete and did not have all the answers and we had to find them ourselves. It felt like the first really good Pokemon mystery in a long time. The other games usually have a point where they info dump it on you, but here it feels very earned.
I love the Illumina Pokemon. They look SO GOOD!!! Volcarona’s wings are stunning, this one’s probably my favourite patterned one of the six.

I miss Strategy Guides. Taking me a whole week to figure New Pokemon Snap out. Wanting to Maximize Area Levels before doing the Snowy Island Spots.

There better be more music tunes in the new Pokemon Snap game as I continue to make progress. Snorlax, from the N64 Pokemon Snap game, danced to 3 different PokeFlute tunes in 3 different ways on the Beach course back in day.

Hey, my friend Todd Snap is currently in the Lental region doing some work. If you see him not doing any work, why don’t you say hi to him.
Since he doesn’t own any Pokémon he’s currently borrowing a Pidgeot, Blastoise, and an Abrakadabra of mine
