These sleepovers always start off innocently enough. Nancy brings the popcorn and snacks while Robin's armed to the teeth with VHS' she's borrowed from Family Video. You, of course, are charged with providing lots and lots of cozy blankets.

The first movie almost always goes off without a hitch. There's the usual banter, the gossip; none of you really watch the movie. This time is spent catching each other up on the latest around Hawkins and your lives.

The first time that it happens, Nancy had been the one to bring it up. "I just think it would be nice," she says, a touch of nervousness lacing her statement. "What's a little kiss between friends?" Just friends, she assures herself...right?

Nancy's lips, you come to find out, are just as soft as you'd imagined them to be as the taste of her strawberry chapstick infiltrates your senses.

Robin, of course, looks on in stunned awe. "I don't mean to ruin the moment," she says with a wide-eyed gaze, "but I cannot believe this is happening. I don't think either of you two realize how often I've thought about this... This is straight out of one my wildest dreams."

When your lips part, both you and Nancy can't help but laugh softly in your own collective amusement at Robin's nervous and excited rambling. It is Nancy who reaches for Robin first, bringing her in to quell those nerves of hers with light, gentle kisses.

Sleepovers are never the same after that, but the three of you are always so eager to schedule your weekly time together - much to the complaint of the others who so often wish to join you.

“Oph…” she heard someone start to weakly say her name and looked to the source. Mallory was half under an overturned gurney. 

“Mal.” Ophelia gasped and ran over to her boss. She dropped to her knees. “Oh my god.” She gasped as she saw a hole in Mallory’s side, the edges jagged. “Okay, okay.” Ophelia whispered and tore part of the sheet from the gurney. She went to put pressure on her boss’ wound but Mallory grabbed her hand. 

“Patients…” Mallory rasped. “Attacking.” 

“I know, I know.” Ophelia murmured. “There was some outside.” She went to try and help again and Mallory stopped her again. 

“Look… My leg.” Mallory stated. 

“What?” Ophelia asked and looked at her legs on the other side of the gurney. One of them was stripped nearly clean, only some sinew and blood clinging to Mallory’s now visible lower leg and foot bones. “Oh my god, Mal.” Ophelia cried and turned back to her boss. 

Mallory was fading. Obviously in so much shock, that she wasn’t in the pain Ophelia expected to accompany her injuries. Ophelia let out a soft sob and squeezed Mallory’s hand as her grip on Ophelia began to loosen. She let out a soft gasp as she heard groaning from the hall, she saw a few patients shambling around like the monsters outside. 

“I have to…” she began and looked back at Mallory. Mallory’s hand was limp in Ophelia’s as her eyes were vacantly staring ahead. Ophelia stifled her next sob and gently closed Mallory’s eyes before laying her hand down. 

The groaning grew closer and Ophelia scrambled on her knees to hide under the nurses’ station. Ophelia closed her eyes and covered her mouth just as she had in the ambulance. The groaning and the sound of the monsters shuffling grew distant. Ophelia crawled out from underneath the nurses’ station, she went to wipe the tears from her eyes. 

“Fuck.” She whispered as she smeared blood across her face.

I just watched Scream (2022) and I can’t even begin to express how much this film means to me, how my heart was so full of love and nostalgia when I left the theater.

Scream (1996) was a love letter to horror movies. Scream (2022) is a love letter to horror fans.

of all the changes Kenobi is bringing to canon, the one that keeps bugging me (because it hurts) is that Leia did not name her son after a great Jedi who helped save the galaxy

she named him after a man who, from the first second she met him, had been protecting her with his life, risking everything to bring her back to her family. someone who taught her about this mysterious force and showed her unbelievable wonders.

but canon Ben Solo hated his name ever since he was a child because in his eyes it came with the expectation of being this great hero when he wanted to be his own person, and in reality, Ben is a name that brings comfort and safeness to Leia.
