Learning Russian Numbers Made Easy
Learning the Russian language requires a good understanding of the numbers. If you're planning to visit Russia or just want to expand your language skills, mastering Russian numbers is a must.
Let's start with the basics, numbers 1-10. Repeat after me:
один ("a-deen")
два ("dva")
три ("tree")
четыре ("chye-tir-ye")
пять ("pyat")
шесть ("shest")
семь ("syem")
восемь ("vo-syem")
девять ("dyev-yat")
десять ("dyes-yat")
Good job! Now, let's move on to numbers 11-19:
одиннадцать
двенадцать
тринадцать
четырнадцать
пятнадцать
шестнадцать
семнадцать
восемнадцать
девятнадцать
And finally, the compound numbers:
двадцать ("dva-dtsat")
тридцать ("tree-dtsat")
сорок ("so-ruk")
пятьдесят ("pyat-des-yat")
шестьдесят ("shest-des-yat")
семьдесят ("syem-des-yat")
восемьдесят ("vo-syem-des-yat")
девяносто ("dyev-ya-nos-to")
сто ("sto")
двести ("dva-sti")
триста ("tree-sta")
четыреста ("chye-tyr-es-ta")
пятьсот ("pyat-sot")
шестьсот ("shest-sot")
семьсот ("syem-sot")
восемьсот ("vo-syem-sot")
девятьсот ("dyev-yat-sot")
тысяча ("tysyacha")
миллион ("meel-yon")
миллиард ("meel-lee-ard")
Practice counting from 1 to 10, then backwards from 10 to 1. Challenge yourself by counting in increments of 10, and eventually practice forming bigger numbers. With enough practice, you'll soon be able to understand Russian numbers with ease!

Here is the list of languages you can now learn for free at home, at your pace:
Is it possible to stay focused at home?
You certainly need a good amount of discipline and motivation to create and follow your schedule. Not only that you should be aware of your goals and how to measure and split them into attainable results.
That’s why this course comes with the “Ultimate Guide to Learning a language at Home, at Your Pace”.
Even if you don’t know exactly what your goal should be and how you can effectively create a routine, this e-Book will actually do it for you, leading you from 0 to Hero in a few pages.
Tips & Tricks to Learning a Language at Home
Set up Successful Goals:
What are Successful Goals? They are Small. Measurable. Realistic.
- Small: so as not to overwhelm yourself
- Measurable: so that you know when you can reach it and set a timeline
- Realistic: Easy enough to fit into your daily schedule
The number one reason why most language learners fail is because they set huge, vague goals like “I want to be fluent” or “I want to speak.” Oh, yeah? By when? Let’s see an examples of “good” goals:
• Learn 100 new words by the end of this month. Deadline: April 30th.
Now that you have a Goal and a Deadline you can adjust your routine by splitting 100 words in 5 words a day for 5 days of the week or 3-4 words a day every day for example.
•What if you fail? Don’t beat yourself up. Aim Lower. Start Again!
More things inside the “Ultimate Guide to Learning a Language at Home, at your Pace” that will make your study session easier:
How to Create a Successful Routine
How to Make your Daily Planner (with a Printable Sample)
30 Actionable ways to Learning a Language

I am back!
I have an idea to post here the information related to my work as a Russian tutor. So if any topic is interesting for you, let me know.
Now I am a certified Russian teacher, so I am more than happy to help other learn my native language!
One of my students studies Russian at university and we practice with him oral Russian, so he can feel more confident while speaking. He has a textbook which he uses to write down the words he can not understand. So in the previous lesson, I explained to him the meaning of some words and phrases, gave him a context to use them. And asked him to make a sentence, using these words and phrases.
Here are some of them:
- На халяву - бесплатно, не прилагая усилий (when you obtain something without any effort);
- Халява - что-то бесплатное (something that you obtained for free, without any effort);
- "Халява, приди" - то, что кричат российские студенты перед экзаменами (that's what Russian students cry out right before the exams).
So the question for you: what does "халява, приди" means for Russian students?
Вопрос для вас: что означает фраза "халява, приди"?
