Leadership training program: Remodelling the operational means of your organization
Tumblr media
So, what exactly is going on? Why, despite all the research, energy, and talent put into this field, is it that we still miss the mark when it comes to reskilling and upskilling the leaders' abilities? Let's understand the ways we could make leadership training programs a robust tool when it comes to driving performance. Upskilling leadership qualities is crucial, especially in a world that lacks effective leaders who are both inspirational and competent.
Leadership training programs can be a significant driver of business strategy: here's how
We all are aware of the fact that training is part of a broader transformation process. It should be firmly and explicitly embedded within your business' strategic imperatives. It's your business and competitive strategies that decide not only where your organization aims to go but also what actions to be taken on the talent and structural levels. An important action is ensuring that leaders develop and grow in ways that aid your organizational growth.
Today, you will often find a disconnect between how well-experienced managers think they are doing and how their dedication is viewed down the line.
As an entrepreneur, you need to look beyond competency and skill building and integrate cognitive agility and deeper foundations of mindset.
Being an effective leader today means nurturing a learning and listening mindset, which further means being flexible, having the mind to understand where you should learn, and also how to make things happen smoothly. In a nutshell, it's about handling market disruptions and your perception of the world with poise and grace.
Leadership training should be incorporated into everyday work instead of being entirely separated from it:
Even in an interactive classroom scenario, very little of what people hear and understand is actually utilized back at work. This very number shoots up when you're only action-learning; however, information yet doesn't become entirely ingrained.
The key is to develop clear and sustained mediums for bringing the insights and learning from group discussions and classrooms back into every participant's real work, to align them and also observe the progress. This also often means identifying the needs and learning experiences of each partaker is different, and you should customize group discussions to extract the key factors. The more your people become learner-focused and customized, the more sustainable the growth.

Feeling completely normal about the new Nightwing issue.
No spoilers, but this issue really reminds us (again) why everyone loves Dick Grayson, what his motivation is, and how his backstory makes him him.
Batman is also being a good dad in this one. more rant in tages uhh

Software Engineer Dairies: Sprint Kick-off 🏃‍♀️👩‍💻

Stand-up 🙌
I was actually social this morning 🦋☺️ (it was standard "how was everybody's weekend?" fare but it got me invited to book club which i'm really excited about because we're reading Howl's Moving Castle!! 📚)
I have to take over more work from a senior colleague who's behind with his own work, which is fine(?) since I know what to do and my help is being acknowledged by leadership at least and I finished all of my existing work already... Should I slow down on purpose so this doesn't keep happening? 😂
Retrospectives 👀
These meetings always feel like getting a bad grade (sometimes good, but more often bad) 🥺 I know it's important to evaluate and improve and that it's not just on me but the whole team... Everyone else seems to be in a good, relaxed mood and taking things in stride, though... so I'll try to take these less personally in the future, too!
Planning 📑
I led a technical planning meeting like a hot mess but done is better than perfect and I got what I needed and got the hell out 😂 Now I have lots of follow-up tasks to deal with~
My senior colleague (not the same one whose work I needed to takeover) led a different planning meeting for his project — I was just there for moral support 😅
I'm also leading our sprint ceremonies now which means I can't multitask during our meetings anymore 😛
Code 🖥️
My pet peeve at work is when people take forever to review my code, so I am always the most responsive peer-reviewer on the team and my colleagues have said many times that they appreciate it and have come to return the favor 😌
I managed to fix an high-priority bug in between all these meetings! 🐞 (I was then immediately assigned another high-priority bug, unfortunately 🙃)

raph was never any less suited to leadership than leo
raph was never any less suited to leadership than leo
raph was N E V E R any less suited to leadership than leo
idk how many times i can say it before it sinks in that in rise there was never once any point where that was the point being made
if you just like leo’s character better than you like raph’s, that’s fine! if you just like it better when leo is leader, that’s fine! i have no issue!
but we need to stop trying to circle that leadership change back to somehow being about better or worse or ~more cut out for it~ because it sucks to throw the great job raph did through the series under the bus in order to prop up leo’s good qualities.
they’re both great leaders. they both have strong suits and weak suits in the role, they both have growth and development when they’re in that role. they BOTH make on-screen mistakes in that role and aren’t very good at it at first! not getting a more in-depth explanation about it in the movie or series stinks and it’s very interesting to explore, but seriously.

Did I notice it at the time and forget? Or was too wrapped up to notice it at all?
Jamie is the first to realize what Isaac is doing, and is the first to move to join him. He’s already touching the sign along with Isaac before anyone else seems to have made the connection.
We go from Jamie constantly fighting against leadership, to being one of the first to support a good cause, to eventually doing some leading himself!

constantly thinking about parallels between the bugbusters episode and the movie with raph and leos roles being reversed:
raph was overconfident and wasn't listening to his team (mainly leo) and he paid the price for it when draxum threw leo off the roof (and he leapt after Leo without a thought or a plan or care for his own safety)
leo was overconfident and wasn't listening to his team (mainly raph) and he paid the price for it when krang took raph (and he came (leapt) for raph without a thought or a plan or care for his own safety)

My thoughts on Ted Lasso S3,E1:
In a shocking turn of events, Jamie Tartt is currently the person least in need of therapy.

Yeah that never felt fair to me, you've got Jamie working hard to earn forgiveness from the team who are blaming him for everything (most of it deserved, but some not) and become a better person and becomes a sweetheart, you've got Isaac who work hard to become a good leader and becomes the most responsible one who always looks out for the others, then you've got Colin. Do they think him being gay cancels out his dickhead behaviours or something?
Yeahhh tbh....I do think Colin grew as a person through his whole gay arc (examining and unlearning the toxic masculinity he had been perpetuating) but I didn't like the way he acted like he was a hapless victim of Jamie when he was a willing lackey who played a major role in the negative environment Jamie created. He shirked accountability for sure

“burden of command” should have been about negotiating a deal between whichever desert commander you chose, and the oseram trespassers in desert tenakth territory settling in an area with an abundance of drinking water, and i will die on this hill.
regardless of who you chose, it could have been a great opportunity for growth of aloy and both tenakth npcs. yarra would have to realise she can’t solve everything with bloodshed and to give diplomacy a try. drakka could easily have set himself apart and shown that he has the capacity to lead the entire clan, not just a small settlement. and aloy could have brokered a peaceful resolution that provides desert tenakth with a precious resource, while maybe the oseram could, idk, not colonize more land with absolutely no repercussions.
it also could have addressed why there are so many oseram “trespassers,” as the tenakth call them, building settlements in tenakth territory and making themselves at home when there are tenakth who even say that if they catch oseram, they bury them alive in sand.
it’s obvious that aloy needs the different tribes aligned for the final instalment of the trilogy and this could have been a small but wildly important stepping stone in that direction.
and if they need a machine fight in the quest, there’s a tremortusk right there, it and a stormbird and heck, throw in the slitherfang too, could have all interrupted negotiations and aloy, the desert tenakth, and the oseram could have had to work together to take them down.
i love aloy with kids but this errand as-is had no real impact on the decision aloy made on choosing a leader, especially since the dialogue was almost the same regardless of who you chose.
for the most part, horizon forbidden west did a good job with the side quests and errands advancing aloy as a character as well as (to a lesser degree) npcs, but this one fell a little flat for me personally in the overall-arc regard.
