Lavinia Asimov’s Name

I found a mistake about Lavinia Asimov. If she’s supposed to be Russian, why isn’t her last name Asimova? While her father’s name is Sergei Asimov, her name would be Asimova. Of course, Asimov is a Jewish surname of Russian origin, and on Wikipedia there is an American woman with the name Asmiov. However, her father is a well known Russian ballet dancer, which means he is most likely from Moscow or St. Petersburg, where the big ballet companies are, so she wouldn’t be American. It’s small, but it really bugged me, cause all it takes is a simple Google search to know how Russian names work. Her full name would be Lavinia Sergeyevna Asimova, I think.

@rickriordanmistakes comment: Hmm, this is far beyond my intellect as I am not Russian nor do I know how their names work, so I don’t really have a comment to make. But it intrigues me! It’s something as simple as a Russian name. And if, as you say, all it takes is one Google search to know how Russian names work, then I’d consider this a weird mistake to make. Has he ever mentioned anything about Lavinia out of his books? Sometimes he dedicates certain characters to people he knows, like Julia Fengold.
