I just came back from watching Wonka with my mum and IMMEDIATELY ran to Tumblr to tell somebody, so sorry if these are spoilers, but there's a song in the movie called "Sweet Tooth" and they sing about bribing somebody with chocolate by compelling their sweet tooth, and there's a line that says "don't look at your waistline, it's fine, come on, who needs to see their toes?" and "if your wife's complaining, body shaming, it's amazing what a tailor can conceal" and I full lost my mind, and I've been thinking about Steve and Bucky, or Andy and Ransom, or Nat and Bucky and Steve, or any other combination of people accidentally fattening their significant other with chocolates and them developing a sweet tooth and they steadily crave all sweet things but chocolate at the top of that list.........
I still haven't seen Wonka, and don't I have plans to 😅😂, but... that is really fucking compelling 🥵 that just might be the thing that gets me to see it, lol.
I can't blame you for thinking about that, I mean, the song is literally begging for it 👀 And I know we talk a lot about Andy and Ransom here, but for me, with the specifics of "your wife," I'm thinking about Andy and Laurie...

(Here's the scene on YouTube 🫣)
Like - in a world where they don’t have a child and the events of Defending Jacob don’t happen, rather Andy is just another assistant district attorney - it makes sense that this would happen with Laurie and Andy.
Andy has an extremely high stress job and so he’s not thinking about his looks. Besides, he’s married, he has the woman of his dreams, he loves her to death, and he’s not thinking about impressing anyone. Really, he’s thinking mostly about how to relax when he finally gets home. Plus, he’s thinking about what he can do for Laurie that isn’t paying for shit with his job and being the typical “breadwinner.” He loves her. He would do anything for her and she deserves to know that with his every action. And… he’s thinking about the way she smiles so bright when he compliments what she’s made them for dinner. He’s thinking about how warm and content he feels, sinking into the sofa next to her, after he’s had juuuust enough of that delicious dinner to feel a little beyond sated. He’s thinking about the way she winks at him when they’re cuddling on the couch and she breaks a piece of chocolate off of the bar she’s munching on and he opens his mouth so she can feed it to him.
He’s not thinking that it doesn’t matter if he’s craving more of the sweet things that usually are more of Laurie’s pallet than his own (so what, he’s stressed, he’s allowed to have some sugar to make himself feel better) because he doesn’t even know.
Laurie is so beautiful and smart and distracting. She smoothly weaves in more compliments for him, she sneakily slides a few more items into his lunch box before he heads to work, a bag of gummies here, a bag of chips there, she slowly but steadily increases his portion sizes at dinner, and she keeps feeding him more junk food on the couch after dinner, bite-sized pieces that feel more like foreplay than eating.
Andy doesn’t know he’s got a starter belly going...
Andy doesn’t realize that it spirals to the point that when he buys Laurie a big, big box of expensive, rich chocolates for Valentine’s Day and they all end in his belly rather than Laurie’s. It’s hidden under her blinding grin and heady caresses. The way she touches him doesn’t change. So, how is Andy supposed to know he suddenly has a beer gut? Also, she keeps switching out his clothes - roomier slacks, longer belts, looser undershirts, and bigger dress shirts - as they steadily tighten around his growing frame. Further burying the evidence.
It started by wanting to show Laurie how much he loves and appreciates her, and it’s still for that, half of the things he ends up eating, he wouldn’t eat if it weren’t for Laurie feeding them to him or encouraging to have seconds thirds “if he wants to,” but it’s so much more than that now, too. Andy’s appetite just increases and increases. He’s hungry all the damn time. He’s stressed all the damn time at work, too! He’s stressed unless he’s across the dining room table or on the couch next to Laurie with something in his mouth.
That’s when he’s calm.
When he’s with her and he’s chewing, and she’s looking at him with fire in her eyes. That’s what he needs. He needs her touch, her eyes on him, and anything she wants to feed him. He needs. He’s so hungry for her. And it’s making him pile on the pounds. Completely unaware of it. So what if he can’t see his toes? Who can actually see their toes? So what if he hasn’t seen his dick in months? His wife can, she can more than see it. So what if he’s looking a little more filled out? He’s getting older. It’s not like his clothes are tight or his wife is complaining. He can’t be getting fat! It’s not possible.

Pairing: Andy Barber X Fem!Reader
Warning: If you haven't watched Defending Jacob, stay away! (or at least read the plot on the internet) Maybe some displayed affection, like kiss, hug, etc. Violence mentioned.
Word Count: 4k-ish
A/N: Finally breaking my hiatus with this work for @supraveng 500 followers challenge. It's been a long time since the last time I wrote something. The weird thing, I managed to vomit words for this quite long fic. I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
In the neighborhood, they were the perfect little family. His life was like a movie that run smoothly in a town somewhere in the United States; a nice American house, cars, a decent job that paid well, a sweet wife, and an unproblematic teenage son. Everyone in that town knew the Barbers. But it was not because of their perfect little family. The Barbers were known from the unfortunate event that changed their family two years ago.
Ever since the accident happened, Andy was not the same man. His blue eyes never shined as it was before. His suit used to make him walk proudly on every trials he went on. Now, he walked like a lifeless man, sometimes he seemed like a colorless attorney in the courtroom. Everyone’s eyes were on him. Most of them were giving the pity look as Andy walked into his cold empty house.
It was an innocent glance at first. Andy was walking through the hallway when his blue eyes met yours. He nodded and smiled politely before going into the management office. Laurie, his now-ex-wife, was working as one of the managers. During their divorce process, you kept meeting him in the office. You always excused yourself every time he came. Rumor was heard that Andy was delivering some divorce paperwork. Probably that rumor was true. In couple of weeks, Laurie was no longer wearing the wedding ring, so did Andy. That was when everything began.
Now, Andy was living by himself. Occasionally, you visited him to deliver some lunch and dinner. These foods turned into front porch conversations, eventually turned into multiple dates. It was not easy since you worked at the same place with Laurie. Jacob also had not woken up from his coma, yet. However, you promised yourself to make this thing works. You needed Andy as much as he needed you.
Today was another day where you delivered some food to Andy. You confidently knocked at his door. Andy opened the door with a soft smile in his face. He had dark circle under his eyes, but his bright blue eyes and smile greeted you warmly. It was one of his charms; no matter how tired he was, he always capable of welcoming you. His arm snaked around your waist as he pushed you closer to him. A small gasp escaped your lips.
“What are you doing?” You were startled by his sudden movement.
“What?” He shrugged, “You don’t like it?”
“It’s just… um… It doesn't feel like Andy Barber at all.”
“Well, you were in awe when you saw it on the movie. Maybe I could give it a try, ya know.”
You giggled looking at your puzzled boyfriend. He sure was a good observant. Raising eyebrows, you were signaling him to let you in the house. Boston air was always unbearable during the month.
“I won’t let you in if you don’t stop giggling!” He pouted.
“Aren’t you a cute little boy. C’mon stop pouting and let me in. How if anyone sees us?”
“Okay. I let you in because you think I’m cute.” He pecked your lips. “But who cares if anyone sees us? You know Laurie and I aren’t together anymore.”
“But the divorce was months ago. Don’t you think it’s too soon?”
“Honey, when I said who cares, I meant it. Let them say whatever they want to say. All I know is that I love you. Period. And nothing in this world can stop me showing all of my love to you.”
“Alright, show me then.”
He did as he was told, wrapping his arms around you tightly. Your faces inches away from each other. He looked at you in your eyes and you could see the love in his, again. You could see his pupil dilated. His eyes were much deeper and brighter shade of blue. Even though they were different than the normal ones you saw every time, you did not care. You knew they were blue and nothing else mattered anymore.
He gave you a light kiss. Then he kissed you again. And again. And again. He kissed you so many times you didn’t know how you would remember them all. He kissed you, and you thought to yourself; it was the most amazing kiss of your life. You held him closer to you, like he would disappear if you lost your grip. You wanted him to; you wanted him to stay by your side forever.
Tumblr media
The snow started falling in the windshield. Her breath fogged the rearview mirror as she checked herself again. The cold air pinched her skin when she stepped out of her car. Her hands were scrabbling the back of her car to find a coat. It still smelled like her scent with a little hint of his.
It took her a minute before her knuckles touched the wooden door. A knock then followed by another. She could hear the sound of footsteps approaching the door.
"Laurie!" Your heart dropped as soon as you opened the door. "Andy's showering and I think he'll be done soon. Umm - Wanna come in?"
"Nah, I'm good. Can you just tell him that the hospital called. Jacob is awake."
"Oh! That's a wonderful news! I'm so happy for both of you."
You went in to hug her. Her eyes teared up a little. Before she cried, she hurriedly excused herself. Jacob news was one thing, but the seeing you in used to be - her house was a whole different thing. Since when the two of you were a thing. There were lots of things that she felt in that moment. One of them was jealousy.
What was the hug for? She kept repeating the question in her mind. She clearly knew that shirt was his. The shirt that she used to iron the night before the trial. She could swear that you purposely hugged her to show how much scent of him you got in you. You were sleeping in that bed, with him, reminding her how warm it used to be when she was lying there in his arm.
Deep down she tried to reassure herself. Andy once hers. He loved her first. There was no way you could replace her, his first love since college. She took one last look at the house as she smiled painfully. It used to be her place. It used to be the only space where she wanted to be. In a matter of time, it would be hers again. Andy was hers once and she knew how to make him hers again.
Tumblr media
Andy hugged you tight and kissed you as soon as he heard the news. The news that he wanted to hear every time he visited his son in the hospital. You can see a little skip he made as he walked to his car with joy. The snow started falling and the wind blew quite strong. That did not make him stop his track. But when he realized that you stopped at the front porch, he stopped in confusion. You could listen to him calling you by the look of his face. The news itself terrified you. You were happy for Andy, you really were. But the thought of Jacob’s reaction haunted you.
“Honey?”
“Maybe it’s better to go by yourself.”
The vapor came out from his mouth as he walked towards you. He called you once again as he knew you would tell him sooner.
“Okay,” you exhaled, “Is it too soon to tell Jacob about me? Or about us?”
“I know my son well. I can do the talking and you don’t have to worry about a single thing.”
You hesitantly agreed. To be honest, it was not only about Jacob. It was also about Laurie. She knew that you were sleeping with her ex-husband. The meeting this morning, you could call that the most awkward moment in your life. What would happen next? As if Andy could see your worries, he hugged you and kissed your forehead softly.
“We got this.”
You smiled up at him, holding his hand as he drove. He looked happy, but at the same time, you could see he was worried. You did too, you were. You wanted to get this over with. It was only a few miles before arriving at the hospital, and now you had nothing but worries.
Andy footsteps became faster and faster as he got closer to the room. You waited outside with the hope that everything was going to be okay. The light in Andy’s eyes were different. It was pure excitement and happiness like you never seen before. All you wanted was Andy to finally get his happiness.
After a while, Andy was walking out from the room. His expression was something that you could not understand. It was a mixture of relief, yet he had worried eyes. Something did not feel right. You guided him to sit next to you. There was explosion of curiosity, but you would not ask him until he said it himself. He sat down weakly with his head down. You kneeled in front of him, lifting his head up. You brushed his beard softly.
“Do you want to tell me about it?”
“Yes.” He exhaled. “The doctor said that Jacob lost his memory partially.”
You could see he was a little hesitant to talk about it. His face contorted. This was the face when he could not win a case in court. The face that you had not seen in a long time. He might be forgotten what it felt like until now.
“He remembers things way far before the accident. The most important thing is the doctor said it would be best if –“
“If?”
“I and Laurie are … together. Helping him adjusting to his new life slowly.”
A short ‘oh’ came out from your mouth. It was working well between you and Andy. Plus, the progress of Jacob, you thought everything was going in your favor. Now, it was not something that you imagined. Seeing Andy and Laurie back together again, even it was just for show, there were questions and questions that flooded your mind. How if Andy caught in the scenario and unable to escape his feeling? What if your relationship lost because of his old memory?
You did not realize that Andy had been calling you as you drown in your thoughts. He was asking whether you would be okay with that. You really loved him, and you just want the best for his happiness if that included sacrifice for his son, Jacob.
“Yeah. Anything for Jacob. I’ll be okay. It is just for a while, right?”
Tumblr media
Jacob was fast asleep. Laurie peeked before she went out of the room. A smile of victory clearly displayed as she witnessed how devastated both Andy and you. She knew that she was not a bad person. Wanting her family getting back together was not a crime. As the doctor spoke to her and Andy, letting know that they had to be together again, fireworks sparked in her heart. Everything would be back as if nothing had ever happened. You were just little pebbles in her way. She was sure that once Andy felt her warmth again, he would forget you. All it took for her was to put on the best show that she needed to do.
She opened the door and walked out slowly, letting her presence known to both of you. After exchanging few words with Andy, she nodded politely and excused herself. She could not wait to pack all of her stuffs and place it back inside that house.
She watched you and Andy said goodbye from a far inside her car. A woman knows another woman, that was she thought when she saw you trying to look happy in front of him. Andy might be good in reading people’s expressions, but he was fool enough to realize your real emotions. She knew that she should not feel happy right now, but she deserved this moment. Life had given her a second chance to rebuild her family. Jacob did not remember about the accident and Andy would be living with her again. She would not mess it up again.
Moments after she arrived, Andy helped her to bring her stuff upstairs. After a long cold nights in her bed alone, she was finally back sleeping with him. All the memories flooded her mind as she stepped into that two-story house. She remembered Andy’s warm breath as she rested her head on his chest while his hand brushed against her head. No matter how bad the situation was, he was always there to ease her worries away every night. Her hands felt the softness of the fresh sheet on the bed. This was it, her fresh beginning to be the perfect family again.
Couple of weeks had passed since Jacob was home. Andy was always there for his recovery. He spent time with Jacob after work until nighttime. It had become a routine that she would stop by Jacob’s room to remind them for dinner. They would gather and talk about their day on the dining table. Mostly, Jacob told his stories about everything that he learnt during homeschooled. After dinner, Andy would talk with Jacob when they enjoyed watching football until Jacob almost fell asleep on the couch. Laurie watched everything and smiled. She did it. She almost did it.
As soon as Jacob fell asleep, Andy was a distant person. They did not spoke a single word to each other. She tried to start any conversation with Andy, but he would respond shortly. He spent every night sleeping in the guest room. The bed still felt cold. It did not even smell like him. It smelled like her scent and the fabric softener or whatever detergent on his side of the bed. Andy also often spent days doing his works and did not come home. She never wanted to know whatever he was working on. It was too much for her to understand. Besides, he would be home again to spend time with her and Jacob in any other days. She could not object to any of his decision. She just needed to give him time until he realized that he missed his old life.
She watched her son had fallen asleep on his bed. As she closed the gap on the curtain, she could see the beautiful night outside. It made her think that it had been a long time since she enjoyed running around the neighborhood. She knew Andy would not be home tomorrow as he was gone for three days working. That was when she decided to take her usual track to jog at night.
Her footstep stopped only couple blocks away from her house. She noticed a black Audi parked in front of a house. The exact same Audi that her ex-husband drove to a “three days work”. Her mind and her heart were racing. The scenarios that often came to her mind, which she brushed them off, finally happened. She did not know what was gotten into her, she walked quickly towards the door of the house. Knocking like a really scared person, she was also tapping her heels waiting nervously. Footsteps were heard approaching the door.
You opened the door. And Andy’s voice echoed from inside.
“Who is it, honey?”
Tumblr media
You instantly froze as you found her standing in front of you. You could not even hear when Andy called. He walked to you. His hand grabbed your hand and held you tight.
“Explain yourself.” She clenched her jaw.
“Why?”
“You have your family waiting for you at home. But YOU- “, her fist rolled before she pointed at him, “you spent night in ANOTHER woman house! Is this what you called working?”
“Laurie!”
“NO! Don’t!” Her finger moved to point at you, “And you… how dare you take my family away from me? Have you got no shame?”
Andy stepped forward as he told you to stand behind him. He pushed her hand away.
“Do. Not. Raise. A Finger. On. Her.” He used his deep cold voice to talk with her. “I have enough of YOU and your little game. You thought I did not notice every time you tried to make me stay a little longer. Or the time when you tried to make as many ‘innocent’ contacts as possible, like a desperate woman trying to make be stay in bed with you.”
Laurie tried to talk back but Andy stopped her.
“What we had is over. I do everything for Jacob- “
“I do it for Jacob too! He is my son!”
“He is NOT your son since the day of the accident. You know what, this is over. I’ll talk to Jacob tomorrow that we’re done. Consider it as your mercy because I will never bring up the accident to him.”
Laurie was speechless. Her tears started to pile up on her eyes. She went back to her house without saying a single word. You could not help but felt pity on her. She was just a mother who wanted to have her family back as it used to. As if Andy could read your mind, he brought you inside to tell the truth that he never told anyone.
You never saw him this broken before. He told you everything that Laurie told him long time ago, after the accident happened. It was all because she could not believe her own son. He broke down as he remembered those hard times when he only had himself to stay strong. You could not say anything. Instead, you hugged him tight as you brushed his hair to calm him down. Both of you ended up fall asleep in each other embraces.
That night had somehow become another forgotten night. Andy had told Jacob that he and Laurie decided to go separate ways. He was a grown-up teenager. He understood everything without wanting to dive whatever his parents had on each other. Introducing you to him was another step that Andy took after a while. Having interacted with bunch of teenagers on your work, you got along pretty well with Jacob. You knew it still need time for you and Jacob to completely becoming close. But both of you tried the best for Andy.
Brighter morning had come. Summer came sooner in Newton. The warmth of the sun slowly crept in your hands as you made breakfast in the kitchen. Andy went to the kitchen. His big arms hugged you from behind. You turned around to see him clearly. His blue eyes matched with the light blue shirt that hugged his figure tight. He looked better as the sun shone brightly outside. He gave you a kiss, usual morning greeting that he did before Jacob was awake. You stepped away as you heard Jacob was coming down the stairs.
“We don’t have to keep sneaking around soon. I promise.” He whispered.
All of you ate breakfast together. You could not stop laughing with Jacob while Andy was explaining his dad jokes that both of you could not understand. This was the family life that Andy always imagined living with you for the rest of his life. Seeing you and Jacob could get along well, butterflies filled his stomach. He never felt this kind of way since he was in high school. He seemed like teenagers drunken in love all over again.
“Andy?”, you snapped your fingers. “Andy?”
“Oh sorry. What was you’re saying?”
“Aren’t you going to work? You’re going to be late if you don’t move now.”
Andy went to work. You were cleaning the kitchen as Jacob was packing his stuff. Today, he would be going to Laurie’s place. He was going to stay for a week. He could not stop teasing you, knowing that Andy and you would be alone when he was away. You never saw him this playful before and you were grateful for it.
The giggling suddenly went quiet. You did not notice since you were busy washing the dishes. Then, Jacob sobbed and wailed in pain. You rushed upstairs only to find him fainted on the floor. You immediately called Andy in panic. Before Andy reached his office, he made a sharp turn upon your call. He rushed upstairs and brought Jacob to the hospital. You watched your surroundings to check anything that caused all of this. Andy might not notice it, but there was an old court file filled with evidence, news, and other stuffs. You flipped to see the label of the file. Case Against Laurie Barber; Victim: Jacob Owen Barber; Status: Dismissed (Accident).
It did not take long until Andy arrived at the hospital. Both of you waited nervously. He kept telling you not to, but he could not stop shaking his legs. He’ll be okay. Words that he repeated to you and mostly to himself, assuring that Jacob had been through the worst, and he survived. Moment passed and the doctor had let Andy’s in. Not long after, Andy called you to joined him.
You knew Jacob was sick, but his face looked paler than usual. He showed more than discomfort. Andy’s face also got serious. You did not know what was going on. Your eyes kept looking for clue from Andy, but he was distracted.
“I don’t think I should be here.”
“No, wait!” Jacob kept you from going. “I think I need you here.”
You agreed without asking a question. Jacob might not be ready to tell you everything. Andy watched the sky as you sat next to Jacob. You held his hand as you brushed his hair gently. The medication calmed him down as he slowly drifted to sleep. You offered to call Laurie. Suddenly, he stopped you. He led you outside the room before he told you everything.
You could imagine it was hard for Jacob to remember everything. Andy was there to listen every story that he had to say. You could see that Andy was furious. He never knew that Laurie purposely kept stepping on the gas before the car hit a wall. You held his fisted palm and softly stroke it with your fingers. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down.
"Remember, she wasn't thinking straight. It wasn't easy for her."
"What would I do if you weren't here?" He kissed your forehead. "But how did he manage to find the court file?"
"We were planning on moving. Some documents may accidently fall. Unfortunate for him that he found it." You tried to reassure Andy. "Look, it doesn't matter now. Just go inside and help Jacob understand everything. He only can trust you now. I’ll call Laurie. She deserved to know about her son condition."
Tumblr media
Her walk seemed like little run as she rushed to the hospital. She would never think going back here to see Jacob. You were supposed to drive him to her. But she got the call from Andy that Jacob went to the hospital. Still in her jogging set, she jumped on the car straight away. As she drove to the hospital, a lot of things fogged her mind. Maybe it was the side effect of the accident that time. She could not stop feeling guilty since the day she woke up in the hospital, meanwhile, Jacob was lying unconscious for years.
She supposed to be able to go and see her son. Instead, the door was blocked by you. You did not let her pass the door. She could not handle any bullshit with you anymore. As she tried to barge in, Andy stopped her track. Now, she felt that her ex-husband and his new lover were going against her. She did not want to listen any words that you and Andy wanted to say. She was Jacob’s mother after all. You and Andy finally gave up and let her in.
“Why are you here? How dare you to show up here?”
“Jacob! I am your mother. What’s gotten into you?”
Jacob went into another hysteric episode. The doctor had to rush in to give him another sedative. Andy rushed to dragged her out of the room. She was too weak to even stand up. She dropped on her knees as she cried really loud. You went to calm Jacob down and Andy went to talk to Laurie. All you can do was hoping that Andy could keep his composure and acted wise.
“I’m sorry I can’t tell you anything.”, Jacob said with a sleepy face. “One day, I promise I will.”
 “It’s okay”, you smiled softly as you nodded, “whenever you’re ready. Now get some rest.”
He slowly drifted to sleep. Before that, he managed to whisper words to you.
“I’m glad dad found you.”
Tumblr media
You knew something was off when you saw Laurie had talked to the doctor before you and Andy were arrived. The custody of Jacob went to Andy. There was no way that the doctor only called Laurie when Jacob had been awake. As soon as Andy came to the conclusion that he had to live with Laurie, you knew it was her plan all along. You were confident that you would be able to crush that smug smile she showed you in the hospital. And sure enough, Andy would always find a way to his home, which is you.
Andy decided moving the house after his big fight with Laurie that night. You were rummaging through his office to clean up some of his stuff. An interesting file found hidden in the drawer of his desk. This was it! You told yourself. You would not let Laurie got away with her efforts trying to take Andy from you. All it took was to place it where Jacob could see it. You could not wait to see what show would be unfold with this file.
Laurie could put up any show she wanted, but you were giving her the best of show.
Oh about that Benjamin Rifkin, stabbing skinny teenager like him was an easy job for you. William Barber owed you for making him feel needed by his own son.

The Naming Game
Characters: Andy Barber, Laurie Barber
Warnings: Murder, Shooting, Medical jargon, childbirth descriptions
Tumblr media
The smells of Italian food filled the kitchen as Andy and Laurie Barber ate over the sound of piano music. A glass of water sat in front of each of them. Laurie took a sip, “What about Amaya?”
Andy hummed, “Not a huge fan of Amaya. It sounds too ethnic. How about Ailsa?”
Laurie looked down at her swollen stomach and tilted her head, “That’s cute. What do you think about Ailsa, sweetie? Oh wow. I guess I will have to put that one on the list. I think she likes it. What about Serafina?”
Andy just about choked on a bite of lasagna, “Hell no. I knew a kid named Serafina in middle school. She was the meanest kid in the school if not the whole town. I think she ended up at a military school in ninth grade. Don’t know what happened to her after. Serafina is a huge no. What do you think about Daisy?”
“Ooh, Daisy. That’s extremely cute.”
She wrote down the name on a piece of paper underneath Ailsa and glanced up at her husband, “I really love the name Violet. Do you remember when I was pregnant with Jacob, the name we came up with had he been a girl?”
Andy leaned back in his chair, “I believe we had decided on Hannah Rosalie. Correction, you had decided on Hannah Rosalie. I wanted Sarah Grace.”
He grinned slyly and sighed, “I still love Sarah Grace. I also like the traditional form of Sarai. I think Sarai Grace Barber is still beautiful.”
Laurie smiled gently, “I love it. We’ll go with Sarai. It means princess, right?”
A broad smile crossed Andy’s face, “Really? It does mean princess. What made you change your mind on Sarai?”
“I named Jacob so I am leaving the naming of our daughter to you. It’s only fair. Besides, you have a great taste in names.”
“So I can name her anything?”
Laurie rolled her eyes, “I want veto powers.”
Andy smirked, “Tell you what, I will let you veto three names. After you use all three, I get to do what I want.”
“What names?”
Andy scratched his beard, “Kaela Joy, Ailsa Isobel, Rosalind Amelia, Mathilde Rose-“
Laurie held up a finger, “I am going to veto Rosalind Amelia.”
Andy nodded, “I think that’s an acceptable veto. I truly love Daisy for a first name.”
“I can work with Daisy. It’s a sweet name.”
Andy drank from his water glass, “What about Daisy Maeve? I wanted to go with a little bit of an Irish flair.”
His wife shook her head, “I’m going to use my second veto on Maeve. I’m not a huge fan of it. I like other Irish names but not that one.”
Andy sniffed, “Okay, how about Daisy Caoimhe Barber?”
“Write out that middle name for me?”
Andy picked up the pen that Laurie had slid to him with a piece of paper. Jotting down the name, he pushed the paper back to her across the table and Laurie’s mouth curved into a smile, “Oh, that’s so lovely. I could live with Daisy Caoimhe.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“That’s great but that’s not the name I picked.”
“Still playing with me, huh?”
“Yep.”
“What name did you pick, Andy?”
The husband responded, “Now, now. That would be telling.”
Laurie pouted, “Please tell me what you are planning on naming our daughter.”
Her spouse raised his hands in submission, “Okay, okay. I decided on—”
A doorbell ring interrupted him and Andy groaned, “We will finish this discussion in a minute. That may be Vince from next door. He said he needed to borrow the weed eater for his yard. His died earlier today.”
Barber stepped to the front door and opened it. A man in a hoodie and a bandana mask stood before him. Andy took a step back as the person in front of him snarled, “You Andy Barber?”
Andy tried to shut the door but was stopped, “Listen, I don’t know—”
The man interrupted him, “You Andy Barber?”
“Yes, what do you want?”
The shadowed figure didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled a handgun from the back of his pants and, aiming it at Andy’s chest, pulled the trigger.
Laurie heard the bang and jumped from her chair as quickly as her body would allow, “Andy!”
Turning the corner, she screamed and fell to her knees. There, lying in a pool of blood, was Andy. A hole was torn through the base of his chest and he was drowning on his own blood as his lungs flooded with it. “ANDY!”
Gently, she pulled him into her lap, crying out his name. Weakly, he brushed a tear from her cheek and choked out a name, “Kathryn.”
Laurie hushed him and pulled out her phone, dialing 911. A voice spoke on the other end of the line, “911, what’s your emergency?”
Laurie was panicked and crying, “My husband just got shot. Please, oh god, please send help. No, Andy. Please keep your eyes open. Send help. Oh, god.”
“Ma’am try to calm down and,” the dispatcher paused, “talk to me. What’s your location?”
An inconsolable Laurie cried out, “Oh, god, no, Andy. Don’t go to sleep. I need help. I’m eight months pregnant and I don’t know what to do.. Please, I need help.”
The dispatcher tried again, “Ma’am I need you to calm down. Where are you?”
“I live at 17 Woodard Drive, Newton. Please come help. He’s dying. There’s blood everywhere. No, Andy, no. Look at me. Please, look at me. A-A-Andy. Oh god.”
Suddenly there came a heart-wrenching cry and the dispatcher’s heart sank. The line went dead. With a heavy heart, the dispatcher sent out a call, “I need officers at 17 Woodard drive. Male shooting victim. Age indeterminate. There is a pregnant woman at the residence. Unknown if the shooter is still at the location.”
She tried to reconnect with Laurie but couldn’t get through. After numerous failed attempts to redial the caller, the dispatcher got back on with the responding officers, “We need multiple units at 17 Woodard Drive in Newton. Possible double homicide.”
All she could do now was wait for and update.
Unit forty-seven came through, Detective Perkins, “Dispatch, can you confirm that you said 17 Woodard Drive?”
“Yes.”
Perkins came back through, “Shit. That’s Andy and Laurie Barber’s new home.”
Her heart dropped into her stomach. She kept her voice even, “God help them.”
Detective Perkins pulled his cruiser onto the quiet street, praying to anyone listening that the scene was not as bad as he feared it would be. Seeing the front door open, Perkins motioned to the officers flanking him as the trio ascended the stairs. His heart stopped and the world blurred. Lying in the entry way was Andy Barber. His wife was lying on top of him, sobs wracking her body and she was covered in blood from head to toe. The distraught woman looked up at the police as if begging them to help. The first officer pulled her off the floor and ushered her carefully to the front porch.
EMTs approached and the female paramedic wrapped a blanket around Laurie’s shoulders, “Ma’am where are you hurt?”
Laurie shook her head, “No. He’s dead. He’s dead. He’s dead. What am I going to do?”
The paramedic calmly turned the woman’s face back to her gaze, “The dispatcher said you are pregnant. How far are you? Do you have any injuries?”
Laurie began to cry, “Eight months. Oh god, what am I going to do?”
“Ma’am, I’m concerned you might be hurt. Can you tell me if you are injured?”
“No. I’m not hurt, not injured. The blood. Oh god, the blood, the blood.”
She began rocking back and forth, “Andy’s blood. Andy’s blood. Andy? Is Andy dead? Where’s Andy? Please help Andy.”
“Another EMT is taking care of him. I need you to listen to me though. I need you to calm down. Take some deep breaths. There we go. Breathe in, breath out. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Okay,” she turned to Perkins, “I think she’s ready to talk.”
Detective Perkins knelt down in front of Laurie, “Laurie, I need you to focus and tell me what happened.”
Laurie took a ragged breath and her eyebrows furrowed, “Andy and I were sitting at the table, talking  about names for our baby and eating dinner when the doorbell rang. Andy had talked to our neighbor Vince about him borrowing a tool because his was dead. It was a weed eater. A-Andy thought it might be Vince so he opened the door. A couple of things were said but I couldn’t hear what it was. I was eating when he was shot. I got up and ran as fast as I could to the door but A-Andy… H-he was dying. My h-husband. Is he dead?”
A pair of EMTs  came out of the house carrying a stretcher. Lying on the stretcher was the still, sheet-wrapped body of Andy Barber. His chest no longer rose and fell and Laurie knew.
The sight of her deceased husband prompted a second outburst of tears, moans and cries of agony only a widow could make. Detective Perkins sighed mournfully, “Laurie, I am sorry for your loss. I know this is hard, but can you think of anyone who would want to harm Andy?”
Laurie took a breath again, “We weren’t exactly popular. Plenty of people didn’t like us but not many would act on it except maybe…”
“Who?”
“I know it sounds crazy but I think it was Dan Rifkin. I can’t prove it though.”
Perkins nodded, “We will check it out but in the meantime, do you have somewhere you could stay?”
~~~
Loud cries filled the room as the brown haired woman in the bed gave birth. A nurse ran a cool rag across her forehead as another contraction hit making the woman whimper. The nurse cooed, “There, there. Everything will be alright. It’s almost over.”
A stronger contraction grabbed hold and the woman in the bed making her scream, “Oh god! Make it stop!”
The attending physician at the end of the bed replied, “You are doing great Laurie. The baby’s head is crowning and it’s almost out. Just a couple of more pushes.”
Laurie nodded as a powerful on grabbed hold. The doctor encouraged her, “You’re doing great! Push. Push. Push! And rest. Good job. We are almost ready to meet your baby! Her head is nearly out. On the next one, I want you to push as hard as you can, okay?”
Laurie, through rapid breaths, answered, “Okay. AHHH!”
“Push! Push! Push!!! Great job! Baby’s head is out and the rest of the body should follow. One last push in 3...2...1. PUUSSHHH!!!”
Laurie let loose a determined scream as she pushed with all her remaining strength. Silence reigned for a moment as the woman tried to catch her breath. Then she heard it as she fell back into the pillows. The soft whimper of a newborn filled the air as it turned into a full-blown cry.
Laurie’s heart skipped a beat as the doctor held up the newborn and proclaimed, “IT’S A GIRL! Congratulations!”
The doctor clamped the umbilical cord and cut through it severing the connection between mother and daughter. The squalling baby was then wrapped in a blanket and laid onto Laurie’s chest. Tears began to flow down the mother’s face as she kissed her daughter for the first time, “Oh sweetheart. I know. I know.”
Something about the rumble of her mother’s chest and the soft spoken word calmed the newborn infant and she peeped open her eyes trying to find the source of the comfort. This made Laurie cry more, “Hi there. Oh my god, you’re so beautiful.”
Laurie winced as a bit of pain shot through her, “Why am I hurting still?”
The doctor nodded, “Your placenta is passing through and I am stitching up a small tear in your perineum. Little lady did quite a number on you.”
A nurse leaned over the woman in the bed, “We’re going to get you cleaned up and take baby to make sure everything is good with her then we will bring her back to you. Okay? We also need to make sure you get some rest. That labor may have only lasted six hours but it was an especially hard one for you and for baby.”
Laurie nodded, surrendering her child, “Can I get her back for nursing soon? I think she may be hungry.”
Her doctor smiled, “She looked like she was giving you some cues for feeding so let us clean her off then you may have her back for her first feeding.”
They took the baby to another room but Laurie didn’t hear because she was already asleep.
About ten minutes later, a soft jostling woke the mother and she looked up to find a different nurse holding her baby whose face was nearly beet red from crying, “Someone wants her mommy. if you need any help from the lactation specialist on site, let us know.”
Laurie nodded as she shifted her hospital gown to nurse the baby.
The baby had just finished eating when there came a gentle knock on the door. Laurie shifted her clothes back into place and put the baby on her shoulder to burp, “Come in.”
Pam and Liz stepped through the door and Pam was fist time speak, “We just wanted to come check on you. The nurse down at reception said you’d been moved to a room. How are you feeling?”
Laurie sighed, “Honestly, I am a bit overwhelmed. The labor wasn’t long but it was extremely painful. I’m just glad it’s over.”
A small noise came from the baby and Laurie pulled her down from the shoulder she’d been resting against. Making sure the little one was resting comfortably in her arms, Laurie glanced up, “This doesn’t feel real. If I’m being honest, I don’t know how to do this. I don’t know how to be a single mother. I’ve always had the father around but now...”
Tears pricked her eyes as she thought of her husband lying six feet under the cold ground instead of here where he should be. Liz crossed the room and she spoke, “Oh, Laurie. You know we are here if you need anything.”
Laurie accepted the hug and Liz gazed down with kind eyes, “It’s a girl, right?”
Laurie nodded and Paula came around to the other side of the bed, “She’s beautiful. What are you going to name her?”
Laurie took a ragged breath, “Her father wanted to name her Kathryn Rose but her name is Andi. Andi Kathryn Barber.”
The other two women fussed and cooed over the child and her mother until it was time for them to leave.
All the while, baby Andi lay sleeping.
Oh my goddd does anyone remember that Neighbor! Andy Barber fox where the read has a husband who basically ruins her credit because I think he has a gambling problem or something and Andy and Laurie are barely holding it together. Like I think Laurie may have cheated on him but anywho she’s like the head of the neighborhood club?? or what not and most people don’t go to get events except for like maybe this one lady and Laurie always ends up drunk and I think the reader’s husband’s name might be Neil or something like that idk but in like the third chapter the reader has packed a bag and is gonna just drive away from her life and then Andy is also pulling out of his garage at the same time and they like race down the freeway for a while and it’s just so sad but perfect
Has growing pain! Reader or Andy will meet lauri again?
Hi! In this particular series, Laurie is dead. But so far, Reader has had encounters with some of Andy's coworkers who loved Laurie in "Bathroom Busybodies" and therefore hated to see him move on. And then she met Laurie's mother in "The Visitor".
I haven't ruled out Reader and Andy dealing with or encountering others from that part of his life. It just won't involve Laurie directly because she is no longer living.
Thanks for the ask!
You're sitting across the table from Andy in a small café just down the street from your work.
He brought you here despite you telling him several times that it was very unnecessary, but he wouldn't hear it.
When you sat down, he recommended a few different dishes, but seeing as you'd already eaten a sandwich, you weren't sure if you'd even be able to eat.
"The soup is really great," he says with a smile, "That should be fine if you're not that hungry."
You chuckle and nod, shrugging, "Okay, sure. I like soup."
Andy smiles widely in response. This is the second time you've taken his word for it, allowing him to choose for you, and it's bringing out a lot of strange feelings in him.
Laurie usually never lets him pick for her, she rarely takes his word for it or lets him decide on anything. She's always been the one with the most opinions, leaving Andy to take a step back in most matters. In general he just preferred to hold back, not wanting to create any issues over something that didn't truly matter to him.
But this feeling running through him right now is new. He's not used to that. It's like electricity coursing through his veins, the trust you have in him already intoxicating.
It also makes his cock stiffen in his pants when you let him make decisions on your behalf. He can't explain that one, and he does his best to hide it, not needing another incident like the one in his office earlier.
Even Laurie had noticed after she'd put the take-out bag down on his desk, and she actually tried to initiate something, but he quickly shot her down, using the excuse that he couldn't possibly do that in his office, someone might walk in.
She'd bought it, but she also looked intrigued, figuring he was hard because of her. He's not sure what that'll mean in the long run, but he's just going to have to deal with it.
Truth is, they haven't been intimate in a long time. Once Andy realized she was cheating, he didn't react but he withdrew himself, choosing instead to throw himself into his work. And ever since the separation, they certainly hadn't, even if their couple therapist had recommended it.
But Andy hadn't felt real lust in years. As time passed, the sex had become comfortable, but also boring, and at some point, he just started not really caring about it. Despite the fact that he'd always had a very high sex drive in the past.
But then you walked through the door.
The first time you walked into his office, placing a legal brief on his desk, he felt it instantly. He hadn't acknowledged you, letting you leave without a word after handing him the document, but his eyes had lingered on how your hips swayed as you left his office. He hadn't said anything to you back then because he was so surprised himself, at his own reaction. And he certainly didn't want you to notice.
When you started spending time in his office to help him, it became easier to tame. Not because he didn't still want you, but because he was able to distract himself from the pure desire burning through his veins whenever he looked at you.
You would make a joke, or do something silly, and it would pull his focus away. Which was probably for the best.
If you didn't have that amazing ability to make him forget about everything else than how beautiful your laugh is, he would have probably fucked everything up already.
The night at the bar was a slip up. You'd rejected his advance, and he'd instantly regretted his actions. That was the reason he took on another intern instead; he couldn't bear to look at you, knowing he'd made you uncomfortable like that.
He can't excuse the drunken night where he showed up at your doorstep. That was a mishap. A major one.
He knows why, though he could never tell you. He's never felt as disappointed as when only Katie had walked through the door at the bar, you missing by her side. He drank a lot more that night than usual, and when Katie invited Trey back to her place, he tagged along in the Uber.
He was planning to go home, he really was, but when Katie mentioned that you lived on the floor right below her, he couldn't stop himself. He followed them inside, asking Katie to borrow her bathroom, and as soon as he could, he told them he was going home, only with the intention of sneaking down to your apartment. And once he was inside your apartment, invading the space that was just so inherently you, there was nothing in this world that could have possibly made him leave.
It was stupid, he knows that. It was a fuck up. He shouldn't have done it, it was a terrible idea through and through, but it did eventually lead to the two of you talking that Saturday morning. And now he felt more comfortable around you than ever.
He'd had every intention of buying you lunch today, perhaps even taking you out somewhere fancy to impress you, so to say he was mildly disappointed to see his wife walk through the door would be an understatement.
He knew what he was doing was risky, dangerous even, because he could feel himself slipping, his resolve breaking.
He wanted to be near you all the time, he wanted to see you every time he looked up from his work. And he missed you when you weren't around.
And that is a very dangerous feeling for a married man to have for someone who isn't his wife.
"Thank you for taking me here."
Your voice brings him out of his thoughts, a small smile making its way onto his lips.
"You're welcome, sweetheart. I promised you lunch; it was the least I could do."
He notices how your cheeks heat up a little at the term of endearment, making him smile more. He loves how responsive you are, your face is like an open book to him.
He notices every little expression, every flustered state and even when your breath hitches, despite you doing your best to hide it.
You smile, taking a sip of your water before your face turns more serious, "So, how was lunch?"
Andy sighs inwardly. He would rather not think about Laurie when you're near him, he would rather pretend she isn't an issue. But she is, he knows that, and he knows that you know that, too.
Whatever confusing feelings he has right now, he is still married. He fell in love with a woman, or at least so he thought, and they got married and had a child.
He feels guilty when the thought hits him, he shouldn't be thinking about anyone who isn't his wife. Even if said wife did cheat on him.
"It was good," he replies quietly, glancing away from you, "It was.. lunch."
He shrugs, eyes meeting yours again tentatively.
"Did you have fun?"
He snorts, "Fun?"
"Yeah," you smile, filling your spoon with soup after the waiter brings it over, "Fun."
Andy chuckles dryly, "I don't know if I would call it fun."
"Why not?" you ask curiously, carefully blowing on your soup before bringing it to your lips, humming at the taste when you swallow.
Andy's brows furrow, "Well, it's not usually fun. It just.. is. I don't know how to explain it, but I wouldn't exactly call our time together fun."
That makes you frown. You tilt your head as you say, "That's kinda sad."
Andy nods, shrugging as he looks down at the silver cutlery placed on the table, "I guess so."
"Did you ever have fun?"
His smile is strained when he speaks, "Yeah, back when we were younger, I suppose. But it's been years since it's been actually fun."
"So you never have fun?" You ask quietly, eyes searching his face.
He looks up at you, offering you a soft smile, "I didn't say that. I said I didn't have fun, with her."
Your eyes widen slightly, a shy smile playing at your lips before you nod, eating another spoonful of soup.
He does have fun, although he's been having a surprisingly larger amount of it ever since you started grazing him with your presence.
He loves the little jokes you like to make, or when you blurt out your thoughts randomly. It's endlessly entertaining.
"Well, I'm glad you have some fun, at least," You say with a teasing smile.
Andy chuckles, taking a sip of the water next to him, "I do, sweetheart. I definitely do."
"How's your soup?" He asks, jutting his chin in your direction, "You like it?"
You hum, eating another spoonful before you nod, "Absolutely. It's delicious. Thank you for recommending it."
"Anytime, sweetheart."
You smile softly at his words, your eyes moving back to your soup as you continue eating.
Andy watches you for a moment, letting the warm feeling inside him overtake his mind.
Sometimes, he thinks about what would have happened if he hadn't met Laurie. He wouldn't have Jacob, and he hates that thought, but even with that in mind, he still wonders.
He wonders what would have happened if he hadn't ever married, or if he'd gotten divorced ten years ago when their marriage first started falling apart.
He would be single, free to explore these foreign feelings that are now fluttering inside him.
He would be free to ask you on a date, free to get to know you without restrictions. He would be free to kiss you, once you'd told him you wanted him to.
Andy wasn't arrogant, but he knew for certain you must wonder the same. He knows you think about him, clearly realizing that you shouldn't.
The pull he feels towards you is too strong for you not to feel it.
He shakes his head, pulling himself out of his thoughts before he says, "Once we're done here, we'll go back to my office to work."
You look up at him, your brows furrowed in concern, "Andy, are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Yes," he replies firmly, "If my wife has an issue, she can take it up with me. You shouldn't have to worry about any of this."
You nod slowly, offering him a small smile before finishing your soup.
Tumblr media
The next three days flew by in a blur. Andy got a bunch of new cases dropped onto his desk and it deflated you a little.
You were doing great, almost having worked through the pile, before another stack was added to it.
This job was exhausting, and it wasn't even yours.
The constant pressure he's always under must be terrible, and you could understand why he spends so much time at work when he should probably have spent it with his family.
Jason messaged you on Tuesday and asked, very politely, if you'd be interested in joining him for lunch on Thursday.
You accepted his offer immediately, figuring you should do any and everything to distract yourself from your conflicting feelings for Andy, and the next day he sent you an address to a restaurant not too far away from the office.
You cleared it with your actual boss, Evelyn, who's in charge of the interns, and she said you were fine to take an hour for lunch that day.
She was very nice, an older lady who's clearly worked there since forever, but she reminds you a little bit of your grandmother, which means you spoke to her the same way. She seemed to appreciate that, and perhaps she also liked you a little better than the rest because you were the only intern who wasn't 18 and floundering around like a deer in headlights.
You're sitting on Andy's couch, just about to gather your things before you need to leave for your lunch date with Jason, when Andy speaks.
"Does sandwiches for lunch work for you? I have to go to the courthouse this afternoon so I don't have a lot of time."
You look up at him with a smile, "Oh, I won't be around for lunch, so feel free to order whatever you want."
His eyes snap up from his computer, immediately meeting yours, "Why won't you be here for lunch?"
"I'm going out," you reply with a shrug, getting up from the couch as you start collecting your things.
"Where are you going?"
His stern tone makes you glance at him, noticing his furrowed brows.
You smile again, in an effort to appease him, "Just some restaurant. I'm going out to lunch with a friend."
"What friend?"
The question makes you frown. Why is he asking? It's technically none of his business.
You blink a few times before you lift the files off the table and pull them against your chest, "Oh, uh, I'm going to lunch with Jason, actually."
His jaw tenses immediately.
His eyes are boring into yours intensely as he asks, "Jason? Why are you going to lunch with Jason?"
"He asked me if I wanted to go out for lunch and I said yes," you reply with a shrug.
You lift your bag onto your shoulder with your free hand, not noticing the fire burning behind his eyes.
"How did he ask you?"
"He got my number when we met at the bar," you reply casually, adjusting the shoulder strap before you look up at him, "He texted me the other day and asked me out to lunch."
Your brows furrow again when you look at Andy, noticing his jaw clenching and the tense expression on his face.
You tilt your head as you ask, "Uhm, do you mind? I know he's your friend, but I figured-"
"No," Andy interrupts, eyes moving to his computer, "It's fine."
You nod once, straightening up a little before you say, "Alright, well, I'll be back in about an hour."
"I'll be in court by then," he replies sternly, not looking at you.
"Okay," you nod, "Well, I'll see you tomorrow, then. Good luck in court!"
You turn, walking out of his office as you faintly hear him mumbling out a thanks.
Tumblr media
The lunch with Jason went pretty well. He's nice, and not bad looking at all, and the conversation was pleasant. It flowed easily, no awkward silences, so overall it was a good experience.
Normally that would make you happy, you might even have considered starting to date him, but you knew there was no point.
Because despite conversation flowing easily, despite enjoying his company, despite having no awkward silences between you.. Something was missing.
And it is that same something that makes your heart race and your skin prickle whenever you are in the same room as Andy Barber.
Rationally, you knew that focusing too much on whatever you felt for your boss was a bad idea, but it had also shown you what you were supposed to feel for someone else. And it now meant you weren't willing to settle for anything less.
You kept the lunch friendly and casual, and when you parted ways, you gave him a hug. Subtly indicating that, despite finding him quite nice and sweet, your lunch shouldn't be considered an actual date.
Unfortunately, Andy didn't realize the same.
After you left his office, he spent the next ten minutes grinding his teeth, willing the unpleasant feeling swirling inside him to go away.
When he left to go to court, the feeling was still there, triggered by the fact that he knew what you were currently doing. He had no doubt in his mind that you were laughing at those stupid jokes Jason always makes, and he knew for a fact that Jason would be flirting with you openly.
He loved Jason, he was a good friend, but it was hard to remember that fact when his mind kept drifting to what exactly you two might be doing.
It even took part of his focus, his mind drifting as he sat in the courtroom, listening to the opposing councils opening statement.
Andy already knew he had a problem, he already knew what was happening was a bad idea, but now he realized that he was also completely, utterly fucked.
After court, he didn't go back to his office despite having time to do so. The only thing he wanted to do was go home. He didn't want to risk going to work only to run into you and have you tell him how great your date with Jason had been.
Andy just wanted to go home and sulk in peace, perhaps watch a movie with Jacob. He loved watching those old black and white movies, and it was a tradition between them that Andy cherished. Perhaps spending time with his son, his family, would help get his mind right.
After driving home, the afternoon sun hanging low in the sky, Andy drops down on the large couch in their living room with an audible sigh, the emotional whirlwind of today taking a toll on him. He didn't know how to feel or how to dismantle his thoughts, he didn't know how to sift through them.
And it didn't exactly help when his wife walked through the door, only reminding him that despite everything already being pretty shitty, it could always get worse.
Tumblr media
"A date? What do you mean?"
"I mean; a date night," Laurie says with a smile, "You know, like we used to."
Andy frowns, "But.. We aren't what we used to.. So why do you want to have date night?"
"Andy," Laurie sighs, "If we don't at least try, then what's the point of this?"
He had a hard time arguing with that. What exactly was the point of being separated, but still living in the same house, if you weren't at least going to actively try to work things out?
"Okay," he nods, the frown still creating a deep wrinkle between his brows, "I guess you're right. But we haven't been doing that so far, what made you change your mind?"
Laurie shrugs nonchalantly as she unpacks the grocery bags sitting on the kitchen island, "I just figured it was time we actually did at least some of the things Kristen recommended."
Kristen. Their couples therapist. She had given them a list of things they should do, stuff they should do together, to try and work their way back to where they once were. On there had been date nights, even specified to explain that they should be without Jacob, and they should leave the house. Go to a restaurant, watch a movie, whatever you can think of that breaks your routine, she had said.
Initially, Andy had believed it was a good idea. He could understand how spending more alone time together might be good for them, but now it just made the anxious knot in his stomach bigger. Because on that list had also been intimacy. And he wasn't ready to explore that with her now, at this point he wasn't sure if he ever would be.
He didn't necessarily want to spend alone time with Laurie, and after the day he's had, he was really looking forward to watching a movie with Jacob.
When did that happen? When exactly did it change for him, when did he go from wanting to fix his marriage, work on things, to not even wanting to have dinner with her?
Andy knows exactly when it changed. But he can't allow himself to think about it.
Instead, he nods swiftly as he says, "Alright, let's have date night."
Andy is doing... fine. The steak he got is fine, the wine he's drinking is fine, and being out to dinner with Laurie is.. fine.
Everything is fine. But none of it is great. He wishes for the life of him he could create that sparkling electricity between the two of them, between him and his wife, the woman he vowed to love.
But he can't.
It's just not there.
Laurie is telling him about this history podcast she's been listening to, and Andy is listening, pretending to be interested, just like he always does.
But his mind is elsewhere.
He knows this is a good idea; trying to rekindle their relationship is smart, it's the right choice. Especially considering you just went on a date earlier today.
So he's doing his very best to try and find that tension between the two of them, the one he feels whenever you're near. He's trying so hard to find everything she says interesting, mesmerizing, just like he does whenever you speak.
But it's simply not there.
No, the interest isn't there, until the very moment Laurie's phone vibrates on the table.
Laurie immediately flips her phone over, hiding the screen from him, but Andy saw what it said. He saw the name flashing across the screen.
And suddenly he's very interested.
"So," he says with a sigh, eating a bite of his steak, "You're still seeing him."
Laurie sends him a pointed look, "Who?"
He puts down his utensils, the silverware clashing against his plate as he looks at her, "You know exactly who."
"I'm not seeing him anymore," she replies casually, eating a piece of broccoli off her plate, "I already told you that."
"Then why is he calling?"
"It wasn't him calling."
That does it.
Andy releases a heavy sigh before he leans closer to where she's sitting across the table, his voice a harsh whisper, "Laurie, if you're still seeing him, if you still want to see him, then do that. But don't fucking lie to me and tell me you want to try and fix this, only for you to go back and do the same thing you did before. If you're not going to be fateful to this marriage, to me, then say that. Let me go, release me from this fucking mess and we can both move on. You can be with him if you want, if that's who you truly want. But don't fucking sit there and lie to my face, pretending I'm the one you want to be with when I'm not."
Andy knows part of the words he just spoke could be thrown right back in his face. Because he himself don't know what he truly wants, who he truly wants. But getting Laurie to admit that their marriage is over would make everything easier, that way he wouldn't be the bad guy for wanting you. If she left him, he wouldn't feel guilty for pursuing you.
She stays silent for a moment before slowly raising a brow, "That intern I met is very cute."
Andy scoffs, leaning back in his chair, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Laurie shrugs, taking a sip of her wine before she replies, "Maybe you should just do the same. Get it out of your system. I saw the way you were looking at her, and you clearly weren't excited about me the other day. Maybe you should just follow your urges, give in to them. That way we're both cheating, we're both doing a bad thing, and we can move forward. Try to mend this with a clean slate."
Andy's brows pull into a deep frown, disbelief etched across his face.
How dare she fucking say that? And how dare she think he would ever do that, not just in general, but to you?
He shakes his head, looking at her sternly, "You're fucking insane."
"No, I'm not," she replies with a small smile. She leans closer to him across the table, placing her hand on top of his own, "Think about it, Andy. We would both be doing it to each other, we would be equal in that sense. No one would be the bad guy. And we could work on our marriage, stay together for Jacob, just like we always said we would. You know it would break him if we divorced. Do you really want to hurt him like that?"
Andy's eyes widen slowly as he listens to her speak. Of course he doesn't want to hurt Jacob, she knows that, that's the exact reason she's saying this. But staying together for Jacob, solely for Jacob, while seeing other people on the side.. What's the point of that?
"So you think it would fix our marriage if we both saw other people? Slept with other people?"
"It might," she replies, looking at him sincerely, "We're not happy together, like that, anymore. Other people could make us happy. And we could bring that happiness home, use it to our advantage."
"Why would we stay together if we don't make each other happy?"
"I already told you, Andy. For Jacob. We'd do it for Jacob."
Tumblr media
You spent a few hours after lunch working at the office but it really wasn't as fun without Andy there to distract you from your work.
You went home at 5pm, mentally exhausted, a giddy excitement running through you at the thought of spending the night on the couch, watching movies.
By the time 10.30pm rolls around, you've happily watched two very silly rom-coms, and start to get ready for bed.
Just as you've shrugged on your oversized night shirt, however, you're startled by a knock at the door.
You check your phone for the time, a slight unease running through at the realization that it's almost 11pm. Normally you wouldn't answer, solely from feeling uncomfortable, worried that it might be someone trying to break in or wanting to hurt you on the other side, but when there's another impatient knock, you relent.
You take slow steps toward the door, hesitantly peeking through the peephole.
What the hell is this, fucking groundhog day?
You roll your eyes in amusement as you pull the door open, chuckling as you speak, "What, got too drunk again? I think you have a problem, Mr. Barber."
You grin up at him once the door is open, but your smile immediately falters when you notice the look on his face.
He looks sad, hurt, like he's in pain, and you instantly regret your words.
"Andy, are you okay?"
You tilt your head, taking a step closer to where he's standing on the other side of the threshold, the blue eyes meeting yours filled with sadness.
"Can I come in?"
You nod immediately, stepping back inside your apartment before he follows you. You close the door behind him, watching him hesitantly as he stands in your hallway, his wool coat hanging heavy on his shoulders.
Your words are a quiet whisper, worried if you speak any louder, he might break like a piece of glass, "Andy, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
He holds your gaze for a moment and the look that meets you almost makes you feel physical pain, before his eyes dart to the ground.
His voice is deep and hoarse as he speaks, wavering slightly, "No I.. I'm not okay.. Could I.. I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't even ask this, but I don't know where else to go. Can I stay here? Just for a few days, just until I find a place.."
He looks back up at you, his eyes sad but hopeful, and your heart breaks at the sight.
Until he finds a place? Did he finally leave her? You don't want to think about it too much, ignoring the way your heart thuds excitedly at his words.
You take a step closer, reaching your hand out to touch his arm, "Yeah, of course. Anything you need. Of course."
"Thank you," he whispers, eyes scanning yours warily, "Really. I appreciate it."
You watch him for another moment before the urge takes over. You quickly take another step before you wrap your arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug.
He reciprocates, his strong arms wrapping around your waist as his head drops to your shoulder.
You rub his back soothingly as you whisper, "It'll be alright, don't worry. You can stay here for as long as you need."
His arms tighten around you, holding you so close it makes you feel breathless as he whispers a solemn, "Thank you."
Il était une fois nous
 Pairings: Nick Vaughan x Penny Barron (OFC), Andy Barber x Penny Barron (past)
Warnings: Mentions of past cheating, slight angst if you squint
Tumblr media
          She saw him as he entered the coffee shop. A beard covered his face but she would know that walk anywhere. She sat in the corner hoping that he wouldn’t notice her but no such luck. After he had placed his order, he turned and his eyes landed on her. Penny Vaughan was struck by the drawn appearance of his handsome face and the tiredness of his eyes. Slowly he approached her, “Penny? Penny Barron?” She smiled sadly, “Andy Barber. It’s been a long time. It’s actually Penny Vaughan now.” He motioned to the empty chair across from her, “May I?” She nodded and he sat down, “Where do I start?”
            Penny let out a small laugh, “Where can one start after so many years?” Andy sighed, “I guess I deserved that. How have you been?” The woman shook her head, “Don’t. Don’t do that. Don’t pretend like you care.” Tears began to pool in Andy’s eyes, “I’m sorry, Penny. I truly am. I do care though. God, I hope you your life has turned out better than mine.” He dropped his head and turned it slightly away, “I made so many mistakes. I just wish I could take them back.” Penny reached across the table, “I’m sorry I was cruel just now about your questions. I know you only meant well. I’m married now. Twelve years. He’s an accountant.” Andy looked into her eyes, “Any kids?”
            “Four. Two boys, two girls. You?” Andy couldn’t meet her gaze and began to cry, “I only had one, a son, but he’s gone now. Both he and his mother were killed in a car accident.” For a moment, Penny felt great pity for the man before her, “I’m sorry, Andy, truly I am. It couldn’t have been easy for you.” A barista came up to the table, “I have your coffee, Mr. Barber.” He accepted it. After the worker walked away, Andy turned his attention to Penny, “Thank you. It’s been a hard year. I wonder sometimes how things would be different if we had been honest with each other.”
           “What happened to--” Andy paused, “to us?” The brunette glared at her ex-boyfriend, “I know you just lost your family and I hate speaking ill of the dead but you cheated on me Andy. Did you forget that. Do you expect me to forget that? You cheated on me with Laurie Whitten. The woman you impregnated and later married. You made your choice the day you were swayed by a pair of thin legs and brown eyes…” The man across from her hung his head, “I live with that regret every day. I tried… I tried to break things off with her but she threatened to keep me from taking the bar if I didn’t take responsibility. I tried to get her to keep the baby and sign my rights away but when I saw him on the ultrasound, I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t abandon them. I tried to divorce Laurie later and find you to tell you I still loved you. I wanted to make it right but you were long gone.”
The woman snorted, “Of course I was. Did you really expect me to stick around? I got a transfer and got out of dodge and the only way to do that was to leave without telling you where I was headed. I unfortunately have an appointment to get to. Goodbye, Andy. I hope your life gets better.” Andy whimpered, “Please don’t go.” Penny stood up and wandered over to the counter. A man approached her and took her hand, “Hey sweetheart. You ready to go?” Penny kissed him on the cheek, “I’m ready, Nick.” He glances back at Andy who is sitting alone at the table, tears flowing down his face, “Who is the guy you were talking to?” Penny didn’t look back, “He’s no one.”
Standing in your bathroom, you watch Andy sit on the edge of the tub to run the water for a bath. You both threw on just enough clothes to walk across the room from your bed, so the steam from the hot water gives you back some warmth that you lost when you rolled out of his arms.
You're lost in thought, staring at the steady stream of water when he looks up at you. He doesn't know where the frown on your face came from.
“What's that look for?”
Avoiding his gaze, you look down and pretend to pick lint off your shirt.
“You haven't told her yet, have you?”
Your voice is quiet and he just looks at you, wondering how you knew.
“I can tell you have something on your mind… Like your head is somewhere else tonight.”
He lets out a deep breath. “I'm sorry–”
You look toward him. He's been telling you for weeks that he's just been waiting for the right time to tell Laurie that he's been seeing you while they've been taking a break.
“Do you not want to..?”
Your voice trails off. There's always been a worry in the back of your mind that he's going to find it easier one of these days to just go back to her, to put his feelings aside and keep their family the way it is.
“No, no. It’s not like that,” he swears, turning the water off and standing up to step closer to you. “I promise.”
You shrug. What does he expect you to think?
“It's just… Complicated.”
The famous line. You subtly roll your eyes.
“The longer you wait, the harder it'll be.” you carefully remind him.
“I know.” He wishes you'd look him in the eye to see he means it. He holds his hand out for you. “I know. Come here.”
Hesitantly taking his hand, you let him pull you only a little closer. “I don't want you to hide me.”
“I'm not…”
He pauses to think about it though. The dates in other towns so there's no chance of someone he knows seeing the two of you before he has a chance to tell his wife… The only spending nights at your place... Ok. He gets it.
“I'm sorry.” He can't say it enough. “It’s not like I want to hide you. You know that.”
“Do I?”
“I hope so.” He furrows his brow, letting a silence take over as he waits for your eyes to meet his. “I love you.”
Your frown is still there even as your eyes light up a little, finally finding his.
He leans to give you a soft kiss, repeating his words. “I love you. I mean that.”
A small smile tugs at your lips. You kiss him back, your smile growing wider.
“I love you, too,” you whisper, closing the gap between your bodies with a hug. “The sneaking around was fun at first, but we can't keep doing it. It makes me feel like we're doing something wrong and we're not–”
“I know.” He's not the best with words, it's no secret. His hands rubbing your back is his best attempt at soothing away your worries right now. “I know.”
Secret Santa is Coming....
Tumblr media
Summary: Time for the Secret Santa gift exchange and Andy knows you deserve only the best gift. And who says it can’t be a gift for both of you.
Pairing: Andy Barber X Reader, Jake Jensen
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: 18+ only. Explicit language, explicit sexual content, male masturbation, female masturbation, voyeurism, Daddy kink, slight non-con
Author’s Note: A follow up to the Thanksgiving Potluck. I don’t think Andy is okay with just a one-shot with his sweet girl.
“Mr. Barber.”
Andy looked up to see you standing just inside his doorway. Your hands dropping to be held in front of you, he watched as you momentarily shifted from foot to foot. You were uneasy and that should never be how you feel around him. He dropped the affidavit he had been reading back to his desk, before rolling his shoulders, and sitting back in his chair. Something had you skittish and he wouldn’t have that.
“Yes, sweetheart.”
You bow your head at the nickname, your bashful reaction to it would never get old with him. However, he did try to use it sparingly. Waiting until you two were mostly alone, he would softly say it and watch you smile before catching yourself.
“Can I talk to you about something?” You looked at him, your brow furrowing as you waited for his response. Something was wrong. He could feel his own unease build up the longer he watched you, your fingers now fidgeting in front of you.
“Is that even a question? Of course, you can,” He gestured to the seat in front of him.
You seemed to loosen up at his response, your hands dropping the gripped hold you had them in. Turning to close the door behind you, you gave him a small hopeful smile before taking the offered seat.
He continued to sit back, despite wanting to inch closer to you. You were calmer now and he didn’t want to break you from that peace that you had regained, “What’s going on?”
You took a quick inhale before asking your question, “Are you the one leaving coffee on my desk every morning?"
The coffee. You knew about the coffee. After Thanksgiving, he hadn’t wanted to give up the feeling he felt watching you enjoy him so much. He embraced the flashes of you licking your lips after finishing his potluck offering. They would keep him busy popping up over the long holiday weekend.
Laurie had ordered in catering for their family meal. Things were starting to pick up for her at work as they entered the holiday season. Buying everything and then cooking the turkey dinner wasn’t something she was willing to take on. Instead, they had pulled the plastic containers from the takeaway bag, quickly heating them up before sitting down to the saddest Thanksgiving meal. Thoughts of you were the only thing that pulled him out his funk to start pulling down Christmas decorations from the attic.
He decided that weekend that he would find a way to share that with you again. Your friend may have thrown out that thinly veiled threat, but he would find a way around it. Returning to the office after the holiday, he decided to keep his ritual to his nightly shower. No more parking garage camera feed for your noisy friend to make noise about. He found if he worked late enough, by the time he got home, there would be no one up to ask why he took a tumbler with him to shower.
Filling up his trusty tumbler every night, he would grab it from the refrigerator each morning as he waved goodbye to a wife and son who seemed to be more enthralled with their phones than anything he was doing. Heading to the local coffee shop after his morning swim, he would sit in his car adding his special ingredient to the small light roast brew with double espresso shots and half and half.
Making sure to get in as early as possible, he would leave the cup of coffee on your desk before hustling to his office. He had done so for the last week, a smirk lighting up his face when you brought the cup to the weekly team debrief for the latest cases. But now you knew it was him. He should have known you would figure it out.
Trying his best to not react to your question, he pulled on all his skills to keep the best poker face. He could come up with a reason for it that wouldn’t return you to that ball of nerves that had stood in his doorway.
He cleared his throat before responding, “You caught me. I know the late nights you have been putting in. That can’t be easy to do and then only to go home and help your parents. Figured you might need something to look forward to.”
You hummed at his explanation, looking down before returning your gaze to him, “That’s very kind, Mr. Barber. Sweet even. It’s just…people like to talk. I’ve worked so hard. And I don’t want anyone to think that I got anything because of…because of anything else other than work.”
Your eyes had continued to flit between him and your hands in your lap as you spoke. He could tell that you had thought through your small speech, probably even prepped yourself on your drive in. He also knew that one of the office gossips had gotten to you. He was selfish and he wanted the moments with you but not at the risk of you feeling uncomfortable.
Leaning against the desk, he looked at you straight on, expressing as much empathy as possible, “Understood. No more coffees.”
Your shoulders finally came down from around your ears and you sighed, nodding back in thanks.
“Thank you, Mr. Barber,” you replied before rising to walk towards his office door. He wanted to correct you. Remind you to call him Andy. However, he figured it was best not to push his luck. Watching you push the wrinkles from your skirt as you walked away, he called back to you, “I don’t want you worrying about this or what anyone may say, okay?”
Stopping to look over your shoulder, you reached to grab at your necklace, “I won’t.”
“Promise me?” He smirked as you continued to twiddle with the gold chain.
“I promise,” you answered as he nodded for you to leave.
With the click of his door closing, he looked down at his desk, saving your promise to his memory. He’ll use it later tonight.
Tumblr media
Holding the slip of paper in his hands, your name neatly scrawled across it, he smiled to himself. A couple of people in the office decided to put together a Secret Santa exchange. Apparently, the Thanksgiving potluck was such a success when it came to team building, the higher ups agreed to the next holiday activity. Even had HR sign off on it.
Andy had been in court when the bag of names had been passed around. He didn’t give it much thought. Since your stop in his office a week ago, he had kept his distance. It wasn’t something that he wanted in the slightest. But he was willing to respect your genuine worry about office gossip. No more tumblers, no more early coffee runs. The research requests still happened but always through the weekly team huddle.
However, now seeing your name chosen for him, he had to smile to himself. Of course, it would be you that he would get. Of course, him trying to keep his distance would mean you finding a way back to him.
He sat down, leaning his chin in his hands, “Okay, sweet girl. I understand.”
Tumblr media
The office had pretty much cleared out with most people starting their holiday vacations. The last few streamers from the small Christmas luncheon had been balled up and chucked in the bin, when Andy made his way out to the bull pin. You were waving off the last of the other paralegals as you collected your stuff to make your own way home.
“Hey sweetheart,” he saw you jump a little before turning to him.
You had worn a red Christmas sweater with a white bow handstitched along the collar. Your normal pencil skirt had been replaced by a pair of black slacks. And although not his favorite, the pants had done wonders for your ass. He had watched as you moved around the office putting up the last-minute decorations, only to take them down.
“Hi Andy.” You replied turning and looking up at him from your office chair. He caught the small smile that wanted to break free at your utterance of his name. That was good, you were comfortable around him again.
Clearing his throat, he brought the gift bag from behind his bag, presenting it to you, “Merry Christmas.”
“So, you were my Secret Santa,” you smirked looking at the packed gift bag he had hastily bought from the Walgreens down the street.
“It’s a three-part gift,” he answered, nodding towards it and urging you to open it.
Taking the stuffed tissue paper from the top you reached in pulling out a pink tumbler. You let out a small giggle, “For my coffee?”
He fully smiled this time, before shrugging his shoulders and pointing to the remaining items in the gift bag. Putting down the tumbler, you turned back to the bag, reaching the bottom of it, you pulled out a wooden paper weight. Carved into the center was the seal for Boston College Law School. Your brow creased as you tried to piece together the meaning of the gift. He watched as you finally looked back to him, your look pleading for an answer.
“That’s the second part. An old college buddy of mine is the registrar. I told him about a paralegal that had aced her LSATs, had helped on numerous high profile ADA cases, but hadn’t had the chance to enroll yet.” He looked on as the puzzle started to come together in your mind. Your brow creased further as tears started to line your eyelashes.
“They have grant funds set aside every year for students that display great potential. He took care of everything. You can enroll whenever you’re ready. There will be a space for you. That’s the third part.” He whispered the last of his explanation. The tears that had been threatening to fall now ran fully down your cheeks.
“Oh my God. Thank you.” You jumped from your chair, throwing your arms around his shoulders.
Initially taken by surprise, he hesitated momentarily before letting his body relax into your hold. His hands landing on your back as you sniffled into his dress shirt and whispered quiet thank you’s in his ear.  He threw up his own thanks at the office being empty. Something tells him that you may have restrained yourself more with an audience.
Starting to feel you pull away, he resisted the urge to cling to you. It had been a while since Andy had a genuine hug. He had been mostly regulated to side hugs with Laurie. Every once in a while, it would include a kiss to the cheek. And Jacob, well he was fully rooted in his teen years and any idolization that he might have had for his dad had been long gone. He would only get quick nods of recognition from over the top of the phone from his son. But now with you, he could feel the heat of your body, the small catches in your breath as you tried to regulate your outburst. This was something he couldn’t give up.
“I’m so sorry. That’s not very professional of me. It’s just…this means so much to me.”
Your tearful smile at him tempted him to bring you back into his embrace. To just hold you as all the happy tears flowed out of you.
You giggled again, shaking your head, “I have to tell my parents. I have to…”
He nodded at you, seeing all the possibilities run through your mind. He had opened doors for you. Had given you a better future. Had put that delighted smile on your face. He had done that. You quickly began to pack up your remaining things, yesterday’s brief stuffed in with your laptop. Turning to him again, you smiled again grabbing onto his forearm and squeezing.
“Merry Christmas sweetheart.”
“Merry Christmas Andy.”
Tumblr media
“Can you believe it, Jake? I can enroll whenever I’m ready. There’s a space just waiting for me.” You talked animatedly to your best friend as you placed the carved paperweight on your bookcase. It would sit perfect with your old undergrad books and picture of Jake and you from your graduation.
“That’s amazing, Ace! So, he just called a friend and got this all sorted out?” Jake asked facetiming you from his room.
He had suspicions about your kind of boss since before meeting him Thanksgiving. You had mentioned how many late nights you had been spending at the office recently and how walking out at night gave you the heebie-jeebies. The protector within him woke up immediately at that, ready to offer to pick you up if he needed to. You would never ask him to do that yourself. That’s when you brought up Andy Barber and how he started walking you out.
It hadn’t taken Jake long to dig up information on the ADA. He had the white picket fence life, although there wasn’t too much about his past listed. That was the first red flag. Hacking into the courthouse’s camera feed had been relatively easy. These older government buildings never bothered upping their security.
Andy Barber always parked in one of the garage’s blind spots. That would be the second red flag. After you left, Andy wouldn’t be seen exiting until half an hour later. What could he possibly be doing in a parked car for thirty minutes? That was the final red flag.
“His friend is the registrar at the school. He was able to work it out. What?” Sitting down on your bed, you leaned back looking at Jake on your phone. He was making his slightly worried puppy dog face.
“It’s just that’s a lot to get coordinated so fast.”
“Why can’t you just be happy for me, Jake?” You asked only to see Jake’s face immediately deflate. The worried puppy dog look morphing to kicked puppy. His eyes widening behind his glasses.
“Of course, I’m happy for you Ace. It’s just that you’re too trusting sometimes.”
“I’m not a child,” you grumbled back, and Jake wanted to jump through the phone and ease your anger.
“You’re not. You’re a person with a good heart that wants to believe the best in people,” he saw the crease in your brow ease as he spoke, “And that’s why I gotta look out for you.”
Rolling your eyes, you tried to hide your small smile at Jake’s statement. From the first moment he had run into on his skateboard, knocking both of you over in the quad in college, he had looked out for you.
“When do you come back?”
“Why? Do you already miss me?” You watched Jake wiggle his eyebrows suggestively, causing a round of giggles to erupt from you. He pretended to be hurt by your outburst before continuing, “Probably not until the new year.”
You hummed, sitting back up, Jake and you sat in silence as he watched the disappointment take over your expression. He searched for a way to get you to smile again when he heard the knock at the door. Quickly looking back at the door, he breathed a sigh of relief seeing he had locked it.
“I gotta go, Ace.” He watched you nod a short okay, before finally getting up from your bed.
“I miss you.” “I miss you too, Jake.”
Tumblr media
Andy sat down at the desk in his home office. Neck stretched back along the back of the chair, as he thought back on the last couple of hours since getting home. Walking in, he noticed all the lights were off, not even the Christmas tree in the den was lit. Disengaging the alarm, he made his way into the kitchen to see a sticky note stuck to the fridge. Laurie had to go back into the office to finalize the preparations for the end of the year gala, while Jacob spent the night at a friend’s. So much for family time.
Putting an order into the local Italian place, he went upstairs to change out of his work clothes. He contemplated jumping in the shower, until he heard the doorbell ring with his takeout. Turning on the tree in the den, he ate his pasta dish with only the twinkling Christmas lights on. What had his life become? What had his family become?
Dropping the to-go containers in the trash, he wandered back to his office. He thought about powering up his laptop and finishing the closing remarks for one of his cases, when he found the holiday favors that you had passed around the office this morning. Your red sweater on, you greeted everyone with such joy for the upcoming holiday. He couldn’t help but smile up at you, as you left the favor on his desk.
You were a sweetheart. His sweetheart. His sweet girl. He rubbed along his bottom lip as he remembered your reaction to his gift. The hug had surprised him. But fuck if he hadn’t loved every minute of it. He didn’t even mind the soft sniffling you made as your tears stained his tie. He had made those tears.
Opening his iPad, he logged into the recently downloaded program. Would you have already told everyone about what he had done for you? Would you have passed around the carved seal of your new school for everyone to admire? Would you have put it in a place of pride? He wasn’t sure, but it couldn’t hurt to check.
Finishing entering the credentials, he watched as his screen came to life and he saw your bedroom space. It was cheerful like you, with multiple pillows adorning your bed and bursts of color in the pictures you hung on your walls. He devoured the scene, greedily taking in everything he could see, when he heard the click of the bedroom door. The small camera was powerful and could zoom 10x but was stationary in the middle of the school seal.
He waited, hearing you hum a Christmas song along the with opening and closing of drawers off camera and the tossing of a bath towel on the bed. Finally making your way into view, he saw your silk two-piece set. The navy-blue pajama top with white piping along seams hugged your tits. Your free tits, there’s no way you were still wearing a bra with the way your nipples poked through. And the shorts that accompanied it, covered the curve of your ass, but he watched as they inched up as you started to turn down the bed.
He shifted in his seat as he set the iPad to lean against the monitor stand on his desk. Widening his legs and easing back into his chair, he adjusted himself. He hadn’t had a chance for his nightly ritual. But seeing you now, he was happy to see he would have new things to add to his memory. You always knew how to take care of him. His sweet girl.
After setting most of the pillows aside, you climbed into bed, reaching over for your earbuds and phone. He couldn’t tell what you were listening to but judging by the content smile on your face, it must be good. He watched as you closed your eyes, listening to whatever was piping through your earbuds. Reaching down, he rubbed himself through his pajama bottoms. Nothing too aggressive, just softest of touches. The kind he always imagined you would give him. Always delicate and soft at the start.
He sighed to himself as he watched you, “My sweet girl.”
Lost in the moment, he didn’t catch you shifting at first. However, looking back at the screen, he saw your hand move to your top. You let out a small sigh as your fingers started to flick at your nipple, rolling it between your fingers. He frantically sat up, engaging the zoom function to watch up close. Your nipples were amazing, and he knew given the chance he would lap at them, giving them little bites to see you squirm. Your eyes were closed, breathing harsher, as you played with your tits.
“Play with her tits, sweet girl. Show me how sensitive they are,” He whispered as he took full hold of himself. After hitting his fist on the underside of the desk, he pushed back from it to make room for his hand as he continued to slide up and down his shaft.
He could hear the little sighs you were making as they started to get louder. He knew you would be vocal. You would tell him everything that made you feel good. Both your hands covered your tits while the buttons of your shirt lay open from where you had torn it open to get your hands in.
“Jesus, you’re going to be the death of me.” He squeezed around the tip before breaking contact with the screen to spit down onto himself. At feel of his warm saliva, that winking eye dribbled out onto self.
Hearing shifting, he looked back to find you grabbing one of the pillows you hadn’t bothered to put aside. Now, what were you doing now? He watched as you grabbed the forgotten towel still at the foot of your bed. Placing the pillow in the middle of the bed, you draped the towel over it before swinging a leg over and straddling the setup.
“Fuck me. Take what you need, sweet girl.” He grunted as you started to rock back and forth on the pillow.
Your hips started a natural rhythm, one hand still pawing at your tit while the other held you steady on your perch. As he looked on, the more he dribbled out on his hand, and he finally reached down pushing his pants and underwear off. His ass was momentarily cold on the leather of the seat, but he couldn’t be bothered to care as you kept humping your pillow.
“Daddy.”
Andy nearly swallowed his tongue when he heard your whisper. Your bottom lip now caught between your teeth as you whined.
“Daddy is here. Fuck, I’m right here.” He fisted himself, finally dropping to grab onto his balls and rolling them in his palm.
“Daddy, please.” You mewled out your whimper and he had to grab tight at his base to avoid blowing his load right then and there. You were close, but fuck him, if he missed it by losing it first.
“What do you need, sweet girl? What do you need from daddy?”
“Daddy, I can’t.”
How could you answer him? You had to know. His sweet girl was so smart, she could figure anything out. You had to know he was here. That he could see you. That he was watching you. You were doing this for him.
“Yes, you can. Daddy says you can. I’ll even count down. Five.”
You stuttered slightly before picking up your pace again.
“Four.”
He tightened his grip, corkscrewing his hand on each trip up.
“Three.”
Your breathing was getting harsher as you brought down your other hand, using both to steady you as your hips rolled.
“Two.”
He was almost there. His balls had already started to pull up as he planted his feet to thrust into his fist.
“One. Come on, my sweet girl. Come for daddy.”
He nearly lost it, as you threw your head back, mouth gaping in a silent cry, and the rest of your body spasming. Fucking his hand, he watched as a gush of liquid flew out of you, wetting the towel beneath.
“Oh fuck. Such a good girl. Such a good, fucking sweet girl.”
Standing up, he aimed for the screen as he lost it on the image of his sweet girl squirting for him. He twitched and continued to rub out every ounce he had for her. For once, he didn’t think about it going to waste. It hadn’t, not with what you had given him tonight.
Bracing against the edge of the desk, he flopped back into his chair, as you rolled off your pillow completely drained.
“Thank you, daddy.” You gave one final whisper before peeling off your pajama shorts and grabbing the covers to go to sleep.
“You’re more than welcome, sweet girl. Rest now.”
Andy watched you snuggle into bed, returning to the woman he knew from the office. No longer the horned up, little one that just needed her daddy to take care of her. Taking a tissue from the console behind him, he wiped himself down before wiping the screen and desk. Pulling his boxers and pajama pants back up, he started to log out of the camera’s app, when a dialog box popped up, asking to save or delete recording.
He hesitated only for a moment, before clicking save.
Maybe these work holiday functions weren’t the worst thing in the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were staying over at The Barbers for the night when you woke up and You put on a shirt and one of your jeans that has holes in it. You walked down the stairs and into the kitchen and you see jacob's dad sipping coffee reading over some papers.
"Morning Mister Barber" You said with a smile. Andy looks at you and says. "Y/n come on your dating my son please call me Andy" You grab a cup and nod. "Sorry Mister- I mean..Andy"
Andy says. "coffee?" You nod. "yes please Andy thank you" He pours the coffee and says. "Cream? Sugar?"
"Cream sounds great!" He grabs the cream and his wife walks into the kitchen. "Good Morning Y/N" Andy watches you and you send her a smile then look at him and smile. "thanks'
You say. "So I wanted to ask if Andy can take me to the airport Laurie.
"Sure I don't mind" You heard Andy say. His wife folds her arms. "uh..when do you leave?"
You looked at Laurie. "around noon" She nods and Andy says. "I should be good I have a case at two but I can take you to the airport."
You nod. "Thank you for the coffee Andy. I should go pack" Your eyes meets Laurie's and she presses her lips together and she nods.
You walk away and you hear Laurie say. "Are you fucking kidding me?? She can call you Andy now? My god!"
You walk into the guestroom and pack and feel a pair of hands around your waist. "hmm morning Jake" He kisses your neck. "Good morning"
You smiled but your mind went right to his father...Andy God he was amazing..in so many ways.
"Jake uh I have to get packed maybe another time?" he says in your ear. "okay baby I love you' You smiled. "I love you too" he kisses your cheek and says sitting on the bed in front of you. "Did you have anything to eat yet?"
you shake your head. "Just coffee, An-your dad was nice to give me a fresh cup" he nods. "So when will you be back?" You sigh. "Maybe a few weeks, I'm sorry Jake but this case is important"
He nods once more. "You sound like my dad" he laughed. You smile. "Shit I do!" You laughed and sit by him and wrap your arms around him. "i'll miss you" You learn your head on him and he says. 'I'll miss you too"
**** time skip: two hours.
"y/n i'm out in the car whenever your ready" You heard Andy say. You grab your bag. "Coming sorry"
You rushed down the stairs and Andy is by the door and he chuckles. "Whoa hey calm down I didn't mean to make you get into a hurry"
You hugged Jake then give him a kiss and say. "See you soon" he smiles.
Andy smiles as you walk past him and walk to his car. He opens the door for you and you smile and get in. "thank you"
he smiles and says. "you're welcome" he shuts the door and then gets into the driver's side and backs out from his driveway.
Andy is quiet for a bit then you say. "you okay Andy?" he glances at you. "yes sorry" You smile. "You know I don't bite....hard at least"
Andy coughs. "the fuck?" You giggle placing your hand on his arm. "You heard me" Andy's arm tenses feeling your hand on it.
You pull your hand away and Andy turns his car sharply to the right and then pulls into a dirt road.
He then parks his car and looks at you. "Fucking tease aren't you?"
You blink at the sudden switch of his tone, he was nice but now it's dark and filled with lust. "Andy i'll be-" he lean over kissing your lips softly.
Your body tenses when his tongue slides across his lips, leaving them shinning wet with his saliva.
Your hands, which are now placed on your thighs, are gripping them slightly, and your nails are digging into the fabric of your pants.
His eyes fix every one of your movements, smirking softly when he sees the reaction he has on your body.
“Make me go crazy, babygirl. Your little teasing game, do you think it’s fun to play with daddy, don't you? And now pressing your thighs together, so desperate, aren’t you?”
His words make you gasp, and your eyes widen. A tingle appears in your stomach and makes its way down until it reaches your core, causing you to whimper.
“I-I. Andy, I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,” you whimper. “You did; you want all of daddy’s attention, don’t you?”
He teases, his hand finding its way on your thigh. When his hand touches your leg, your breath hitches, and you gasp.
Your eyes immediately fix on his hand, which makes it way higher and closer to your already throbbing pussy.
Andy moves his hand slowly, making sure you feel comfortable so he doesn’t overstep your boundaries.
His eyes meet yours, looking for everything that could make him stop moving his hand closer to your core, but there is nothing but pure lust and desperation. “Please, daddy,” you mumble, closing your eyes when he presses one finger on your covered pussy.
“There she is, my good girl. But you need to earn it, babygirl,” he tells you, smirking when you look like a lost puppy at him.
“Looking so innocent, but we both know you’re not as innocent as you try to act like. Come on, suck daddy’s cock, and make him feel good. Can you do it?”
You nod, eyes locked with his blue eyes that always got lost in, while he unbuckles his belt.
You don’t dare look at his cock when he shoves his pants and boxers down.
His ocean-blue eyes are pulling you deep into them, letting you forget all around you.
Your boyfriend's dad is sitting next to you in the car, his hand stroking his dick while he waits for you to take it and make him feel good. He has imagined it so often.
Jerking himself off while he thought about your tight pussy, how warm it would feel, and the way you would moan softly, lips parted and eyes almost closed while he would fuck you through one after another orgasm.
“You can look at it; take what’s yours.” Your eyes slowly move from his eyes to his lips before you let them slide down his body until you reach his dick.
Your jaw drops open when you see his huge length, delicious but huge.
His cock is hard, the tip leaking with pre-cum while he stokes it slowly with his big hand. When you get to see the vein on the underside of his member, you whimper once again, making him chuckle.
“Wrap your hand around it, babygirl and then use your mouth as well; can you do it?” “Y-yes.”
He narrows his eyebrows; his intense stare makes your pussy throb even more, and you reach to wrap your hand around his member, but he pushes you back with his other hand, gripping your chin harshly. “Can you do it, babygirl?”
He asks, his tone rough, and you shiver. “Y-Yes, d-daddy. I can m-make you feel good,” you say quietly.
Andy smirks, letting go of your chin and of his length. With shaking hands, you lean over and grip his cock.
Your mouth waters when you feel the softness, even though his dick is rock-hard right now.
Your thumb brushes over his tip, making him gasp, and Andy throws his head back while he watches your hand move up and down his length.
Then you lean closer, licking across his tip and tasting him, his salty pre-cum slowly flowing down your throat, and you moan softly.
Andy’s hand grabs a fist full of your hair, pushing you further down so you have to take his cock into your mouth.
And you do. You open your mouth, sticking out your tongue and letting his cock slide into your mouth.
Your tongue is stroking the underside of his member, feeling the vein poking out softly, and a pornographic moan leaves his lips when his dick slides down your throat.
You gag, trying to push yourself off his cock, but his grip on your hair is too strong.
It makes him feral to feel your nails digging into his pants while you swallow his cock and gag around it.
His length is just too big for you, but he knows you’re a good girl for him; you’re taking him so well.
“Breathe through your nose, babygirl. You’re doing so well for me, taking my dick like a good girl,” he says.
You do as you’re told; you breathe through your nose, and the feeling of throwing up fades away.
You listen to his heavy breaths and his groans when you slide your tongue along his cock and bob your head, his tip gliding down your throat before you circle it with your tongue.
Andy’s cock twitches in your mouth, and before you can continue to circle the tip with your tongue, he pulls you off his cock, presses his lips hungrily on yours, and kisses you passionately, his hand gripping your neck softly. “Don’t make me come just yet,”
he groans against your lips before he pushes you back into the passenger seat. “Take off your pants.”
Your eyes widen, and you look at him slightly confused. Andy chuckles, but the way his eyebrows narrow and his eyes darken even more makes you shiver and tells you that he isn’t as patient with you taking off your pants as his smile says.
“I’m not asking again, babygirl. Take your pants off.” With shaking hands, you open your pants, slide them down your legs, and take them off completely.
Your panties are soaked, and Andy doesn’t waste time placing his fingers on top of your panties, feeling the arousal through the fabric. “All wet, huh? Just for me, are you so wet for me?”
“Y-yes, daddy.” Andy guides two of his fingers over your covered folds.
Before you can take another breath, his fingers are already underneath the fabric, massaging your folds and clit with such talent. Soft moans leave your lips; you grip the seat and thrust your hips forward.
Andy takes his time, circling your clit before he slides his fingers to your entrance, groaning when he gets greeted by more arousal, which is dripping out of you. “P-Please, A-“
He interrupts you when he pushes a finger without warning inside of you. He didn’t bother that you’re not adjusted to the one while he pushes another inside of you.
You moan loudly, tears building up in your eyes when the pain burns in your pussy. “Aww, I’m sorry, babygirl. It’s ok; daddy’s got you. You know why I did that?”
You shake your head, feeling so fucked off already that you’re not even trying to think about a reason why he pushed immediately two fingers into your tight entrance.
Also, the pain turns slowly into pleasure, wanting him to move his digits inside of you. “Don’t call me Andy,” he tells you, leaning close to kiss the tear in your cheek away. “I-I’m sorry, but please move!” You gasp, trying to thrust your hips against his hand.
Andy slowly pulls his thick fingers out of you before he pushes them just as slowly into you.
He curls his fingers, hitting your sweet spot, while you turn into a whimpering and moaning mess.
He could do that the whole time, looking at you while your eyes are almost closed, sweat covering your forehead softly, and the way your pretty, plumb lips are slightly parted.
The sweet sounds that leave your lips while you can’t get enough of his fingers in your cunt.
His thumb circles your clit, making you gasp once again and bringing you closer to the edge.
Your hips buck forward, his fingers sliding completely inside of you, and he stops his movements inside of you for a moment, just circling your clit. “Squeezing my fingers like a good girl. You’re my good girl, aren’t you?”
You moan saying. “I’m your good girl. Please, s-so close,” you whimper, turning your head to look at him. Andy is smiling, drunken with lust, while his fingers stroke your tight walls.
You’re clenching around him, sucking him deeper inside of you, and his thoughts are running wild.
How perfect would you feel around him, squeezing his cock like you do with his fingers? Just a moment before you come all over his fingers, he removes them, leaving you whimpering and pouting in your seat while he watches his glistening fingers in awe.
It shouldn’t be allowed to look that hot, especially when he takes your fingers into his mouth, his lips closing around them while he cleans them, sucking at them and groaning at the taste of you.
“Too bad it’s a shitty place to get a taste of you, but at some point I really need to have a taste of you, babygirl.”
You whimper softly and move your hand between your legs, dipping your fingers between your wet folds to get at least a bit of relief.
“You’re not allowed to touch you, or did I allow you to do so?” He asks, demanding.
You shake your head and look at him, asking for more with the way you look at him. Andy pats his thighs, waiting for you to crawl over them and sit on them.
His cock is still rock-hard, leaking with pre-cum. He grabs his cock, giving himself a few stokes, before he brings his other hand to your ass and grabs it tightly.
Andy pushes you up until you’re just inches away from his cock, and he could easily slip inside of you. “Move your panties to the side, please,” he says, staring at your pussy.
You do as you’re told, and Andy doesn’t waste time lowering you on his dick, his tip pressing against your entrance before he pushes inside of you.
You grab his shoulders, grounding yourself while his huge length stretches you.
Andy thrusts his hips upward, pushing his cock balls deep into you, before he lowers both of you and gives you a moment to adjust to his length.
His hands capture your cheeks, and he makes you look at him, then he leans closer and kisses you.
His tongue is gliding over your lips before you part them softly. Andy helps you to move slowly on his cock, making sure you’re comfortable.
His warm breath hits your soft skin, and his groans get louder when you clench around him.
“Feeling so good around my cock, babygirl.” He kisses along your jawline to your neck, biting softly into your skin.
You bounce on him, letting his cock stroke your walls, coating them in your arousal. “Look at it; look how perfect you are,” he mumbles, making you look down at his dick.
An erotic moan slips through your lips. You move at a slow pace in his cock until Andy can’t hold back anymore and thrusts up, deeper into your pussy. “Andy, please-“
His hands grip your hips tight, pushing you down his length and stopping both of your movements. You whine frustratedly, trying to move and get more friction where you need it the most right now. “Daddy, please.”
“Good girl, what do you want, huh?”
“Please let me cum.”
Andy chuckles, lifting your hips and letting you bounce on his cock. His lips find their way back to your neck, and one of his hands slides to your front. His fingers are circling your clit and you throw your head back. “D-Daddy, please. S-so close.”
“I know, babygirl, me too.” A few more thrusts, and you’re about to come. Andy feels it, the clenching of your pussy around his dick and the way your fingers dig into his shoulders.
His fingers are doing their job perfectly on your clit too, while the band in your tummy snaps and the pleasure of your orgasm rushes through your body.
You moan loudly, throwing your head against his shoulder. Your walls are squeezing his cock just right, and it needs just a few more thrusts until he comes into you.
Your pussy is painted with his white seeds, while he fucks both of you through your orgasm.
Andy's cock is covered in your and his cum, smearing it all over your pussy and his balls.
He groans softly in your ear before he kisses his way along your jawline to your lips. “Doing so well for me squeezed me so good. Now you’re filled with my cum, babygirl,” he tells you, smiling while his hands stroke your back up and down, holding you close while he still holds his cum in your pussy.
You smile softly. "Thank you daddy..But we should really get back to getting to the airport."
Andy Kisses you once more making you melt into his arms. he pulls away saying. "you will need your jeans back on"
You smile and get back into your seat and grab your jeans and put them on as Andy pulls his pants back on then he looks at you with a smile. "not a word to my son or wife got it?"
You nod fixing your hair. "yes Andy" he drives back to the main road taking your hand. "Will we see each other again soon?"
You look at him. "Well I have to come back for Jake so..what do you think?"
He smiles. "I can think of that as a yes" Damn he knew this was wrong but you made it feel good.
