With the postal strikes delaying everything I'm unfortunately going to have to move up last order dates, anything that comes in late up till the 19th I will post before the holidays but there is a very very real chance you won't receive it so please order ASAP! An Observation I Had While Working on A Thing With My Friend:

It is SO validating and motivating to have someone tell you all the things they love about whatever piece you're writing.

"I love this detail you worked in here!"

Or, "This is such an impactful moment of development here, I love where you're taking this!"

"Love the phrasing you used here--did you find this somewhere or did you seriously make it up?"

My favorite is:

"I was smiling like an idiot the entire time I was reading this."

And the "constructive criticism" was the kind of "criticism" I vibe with: framed as their own notes and observations, rather than bluntly pointing out flaws or weak points in the narrative.

I don't take that kind of direct criticism very well at all, and while I can grin and bear it for the sake of professionalism, it is one of the most saddening, demotivational places for me to be. I can act like I have thick skin but that doesn't mean my sensitivity will magically go away, see, and I've come to terms with that. ANYWAY--

Please feed your writers your love, readers. Validation of their work absolutely translates to increased motivation.
