@aerequets owns my creativity now and I can’t stop thinking about this post she made so uh. Here’s my stab at a TDP x ML AU.

The elves are looking for two missing Miraculous, the jewels that are supposed to belong to the dragons which can bestow magic powers. Long ago, they were created using Dark Magic by humans, and they’re immensely powerful, both of which mean that the elves want it nowhere near the humans. (They were probably created using unicorn body parts but given how little we know about the unicorns in canon I’ll hold off from that.)

The Moonshadow elves send a very small, very elite force of spies to Katolis, where they believe the Miraculous are being kept. They come with the two most powerful: the Ladybug Earrings and Cat Ring.

Rayla, of course, is on this mission. Using her powers every night, she has to disguise herself with illusion magic.

She works as the royal tailor’s apprentice. Runaan is there too, but he doesn’t have a position in the castle, so she’s the one doing most of the spying itself.

The first day she goes into work, disguised as a human, she has both the Miraculous on her, just in case. After all, if their suspicions are correct and the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous are in the castle, she’ll need to be ready.

(Yes I know it doesn’t make sense for her to have both the Miraculous, shhhhh)

First thing in the morning, she meets one of the princes -- Callum.

Immediately, Callum takes a liking to her. She’s the only person in the castle his age -- there’s Claudia, who’s a year older than him, and Ezran, who’s a few years younger, but all of them have seemed somewhat removed from her.

She’s skeptical of him, of course. Why wouldn’t she be? He’s human, and humans are dangerous at best.

Until finally.... the Butterfly Miraculous holder releases an akuma.

(Side note: Who’s getting akumatized? I feel like it could be Soren, but maybe his akumatization could come later, because it’s not like Ivan is a super major character. The baker, maybe? I’m blanking on his name but the one who hates Ezran.)

She runs away from Callum, who has her trapped in conversation, to transform. In the process, she drops something -- the cat ring.

Callum doesn’t see where it came from, so he picks it up out of curiosity. Lo and behold, it’s a magical artifact.

Ladybug and Chat Noir (who I should probably give fancier, more medieval-European sounding names to) meet each other and immediately don’t like each other because of course they wouldn’t. She’s a blood-thirsty, evil elf, and he’s a power-hungry, stealing human!

But they’re both looking for the greater good, and they both want this akuma to stop attacking. So they work together.

Ladybug nearly gets crushed at some point, but just at the last moment, Chat Noir saves her.

After the battle is over, they talk.

Obviously, neither fully trusts the other. They both want the Miraculous but most importantly neither are willing to give them up.

There’s an unspoken agreement between them: First we get the Butterfly Miraculous, then we work this out.

But Rayla can’t stop thinking about the brave human who saved her for no reason, not even once she goes back to Runaan just to get chewed out by him.

And Callum can’t stop thinking about the mysterious tailor’s apprentice who disappeared right before he got his Miraculous. He suspects she might be related, but....

Bonus: other Miraculous holders

Butterfly!Viren doesn’t want to bring his wife back to life. He wants to give himself actual magic powers so he doesn’t have to resort to Dark Magic and she’ll come back.

Peacock!Claudia, obviously. But also.... Fox!Claudia?? (I mean.... she is Callum’s friend.......)

Turtle!Soren, obviously but also he’d vibe with the Monkey

I’m split between Bee!Ezran and Mouse!Ezran

Rabbit!Aanya. The girl was MADE for it. Not only would she be an excellent Rabbit Miraculous holder, but also it totally fits the color scheme.

And then all the characters who wouldn’t get a Miraculous in actual Miraculous on account of being adults but we’re gonna ignore that:

This is the best Wordgirl fic I’ve ever read. It hits everything I wanted to see from this show--the bond between Wordgirl and Dr. Two Brains, Dr. Two Brains struggling against his own darkest impulses--coupled with fantastic writing and pacing. Everyone is in character while balancing a more sophisticated and darker tone. I’ve read this one at least five times. 

Title: Awake in the Night | Author: Laura Latts | Words: 10k | Rated: K+

Two-Brains is fighting with himself again. The results? He's losing. But how could Steven be coming back from the supposed dead? And how can Wordgirl help him win before the sun rises?

Absolutely heartbreaking fanfic centered around Wordgirl’s relationship with Steven as Dr. Two Brains attempts to stifle him. Steven can only take control at night, and attempts to build a machine to separate himself from Squeaky, only for Two Brains to wake up and stop him every time. It’s brilliantly written, very in-character, and it just might make you feel. 

Title: Much Abides | Author: otempora16 | Words: 3k | Rated K

Before she heads off to her first year of college, Wordgirl has a few loose ends to tie up. Oneshot. Sort-of sequel to "New and Subtle Shades."

Wordgirl’s last conversation with Two-Brains before leaving for college. Sweet and heartbreaking even if it could’ve gone a little deeper. Brief mentions of past Steven. As their last WG fic, it’s a nice send-off. 

Wordgirl/Tobey (or Tobecky)

Title: New and Subtle Shades | Author: otempora16 | Words: 6k | Rated K+

Growing up is hard, and growing up a superhero is harder. But amidst all the stress and struggle of her freshman year of high school, Wordgirl starts to realize that support, friendship, and fun can be found in the most unexpected of places. Oneshot, focusing on an older Wordgirl's relationships with her villains.

Once again, the otempora16′s dialogue is on point. This fic focuses on WG’s relationship with The Butcher, Leslie, Dr. Two Brains, Chuck, and finally Tobey. It’s incredibly sweet and charming, and shows Wordgirl and Tobey in the earliest stages of a relationship in an entirely believable way. Also featuring Dr. Two Brains as an overprotective father figure.

Becky Botsford's superhero duties have run her off her feet lately, and she knows she needs to crack down on schoolwork if she wants to finish junior year strong. But when warm summer breezes are blowing, the carnival is in town, and Tobey McCallister is standing outside her window ... well, some nights are just begging to be seized. 

A fun and delightful fic of Becky and Tobey having a good time. 

Title: From Good to Rotten | Author: Laura Latts | Words: 25k | Rated K+

After the amnesia ray, what if Two-Brains didn't forget everything? What if he was just waiting? Waiting for the perfect moment to get Wordgirl once and for all... 

Dr. Two Brains remembers Wordgirl’s secret identity from a previous episode where it was revealed, and uses a special ray to turn her evil and use her to do his bidding. Highly interesting, and written in the style of the show (with a narrator, defined words, and a similar style of humor). Features the rest of the villains saving Wordgirl from herself and Dr. Two Brains being a bit of a jerk.

Title: Something Hidden | Author: HibiscusAngel15 | Words: 137k | Rated K+

Tobey just can't shake the feeling that Becky is WordGirl, no matter how many times he's been wrong before. The only question is of how to prove it.

Title: Have You Seen My Robut? | Author: HibiscusAngel15 | Words: 3k | Rated K

Today was just not Tobey McCallister's day. After his latest robotic creation to help the city malfunctions and runs off on him, he's left with no choice but to work together with his nemesis WordGirl to find it. But how can the two even hope to work together, especially when she's a supervillain? An AU one-shot where Tobey and Becky's roles are reversed.

Interesting concept I’d love to see explored more. I’m always a sucker for Wordgirl as a villain, and Tobey as a hero was nice to see. Additionally, Wordgirl is the one with the crush on Tobey in this universe. I thought it stayed true to both characters and was well-written. 

Title: Saving Tobey | Author: Night_N_Gail | Words: 92k | Rated: Gen

“I’m telling you, WordGirl, that kid is a time bomb. You think he’s a menace NOW? Wait until he’s a teenager and his emotions are running wild. Wait until he’s an adult and he’s not afraid of his mother anymore. It won't be pretty, I can promise you that." -:- Post-series

Slowburn relationship with Tobey gradually going over to the good side. First part of a three part series by the same author. I have not read the sequels, so I can’t recommend them, but if you like “Saving Tobey” give them a try.

Dr. Two Brains/Lady Redundant Woman

Title: A Provocloniversary | Author: Unbalanced Enigma | Words: 3k | Rated: K+

A Dr. Two Brains and Lady Redundant Woman fluffy one-shot taking place at a villain convention. It works off the assumption that they've already been an item for awhile, six months to be precise. The doctor wants to celebrate the events, but awkward and silly interruptions ensue. This features a wide variety. Rated K for a little suggestive romancing.

This fic is really cute and well-written. The characterization is spot-on for everyone and has plenty of humor. I especially enjoyed Tobey getting back at Two-Brains for the events of Mousezilla. As someone who did ship Provoclone back in the day, this fic is a definite recommend. 

Dr. Two Brains, Squeaky, and Steven

Title: Descent Into Madness | Author: Laura Latts | Words: 1k | Rated: K+

No one really knew what happened. What he went through during the incident. What happened when Prof. Steven Boxleitner became Dr. Two-Brains?

An interesting exploration of the time between Steven’s “Oh no, this is going to sting” and him running into Becky and TJ. Short but dark and interesting.

Title: A Science Experiment Gone Horribly Wrong | Author: 3LNR | Words: 2k | Rated: K+

This fanfic is a detailed description of Steven's thoughts and feelings before, during, and after his fateful experiment. It includes Two Brains' and Squeaky's viewpoints as well. The day starts out very normally, but gradually becomes more creepy and intense as the story progresses. Rated K+ for somewhat disturbing but non-graphic content.

For a fic I wrote 6 years ago, I think it holds up pretty well. Give it a read if you’re a fan of Two Brains.

Title: When I Don’t Remember You | Author: 3LNR | Words: 3k | Rated K+

Dr. Two Brains goes on a mysterious trip to a place he had almost forgotten.

Another angsty fic I wrote six years ago, where Two Brains briefly reunites with Steven’s parents. It does not go well. Song title is inspired by the song of the same name from the series “Adventure Time”.

After a stupid mistake, Two Brains and Steven have a heart to heart while Two Brains dies. (Squeaky dies too)

Sad fic in which Steven gets his freedom at the expense of Dr. Two Brains’ life. Short but memorable enough to earn a spot on the list.

Title: A Late Night Chat | Author: Donotquestionme | Words: 1-3k | Rated: Unknown

“Remember, whatever I say, don’t open this door until morning, got it?” The henchmen shuffled their feet anxiously. They never quite understood what went on behind that heavy, padlocked door, and they weren’t sure they wanted to. All they knew was that, every once in a while, their boss would lock himself in that room and, for the next few hours, muffled shouting could be heard coming from behind the door. Even stranger, sometimes they swore they could hear crying.

This might be the first WG fic I ever read, so it holds a special place in my heart. It was also written by someone with a fantastic ask blog that’s been on hiatus for years now (ask-dr-two-brains) who has a perfect grasp on the character. This fic is about the unanswerable question of whether Steven could bring himself to kill Two Brains if he had the chance to set himself free. I wish this person had written more, but it's fabulous nonetheless.

Jungkook’s FIC REC | series

Because I spend a lot of time here on tumblr reading fanfictions, I wanted to create my own fic recs. Like that, I can recommend fictions that deserve more recognition and at the same time, if I want to reread one of them, I just have to come here.

Everything on this list is about Jungkook. And of course, all those works have been written by the authors I tagged next to the name of the fictions, they do not belong to me (and if the authors want me to remove their work from my rec, I will).

I also want to thank the authors. I really appreciate all your works and efforts to create all those beautiful stories. I send you all of my love.

I decided to try writing a commentary for each of the stories. I always try to use the right pronouns when talking about the authors, but if I used the wrong ones for you, don’t hesitate to tell me. I will change it in a minute.

Commentary - To be honest, I don’t even know where to start and what to start with.                           But I think I’m simply gonna start with my first thoughts of this story. Because this fiction, I saw it multiple times on many fic recs. And to be completely honest, every single time I saw it, I found the summary attractive and intriguing but something was holding me. Probably the universe. The fear of being unsatisfied and disappointed.                           Because the difficulty with that kind of fiction is to immerse the reader in a universe they don’t know. You then have to describe it enough so that the reader can represent it in their head, but not too much to the point of becoming heavy. And this balance between the ‘enough’ and the ‘not too much’, you find it perfectly in ‘wanted’. I was not only imagining the scenery, I was totally living it. I was seeing everything, I was completely immerged, as if I had been living in that world my whole life.                            Also, the other risk with diving into a fantastic universe is the possibility of writing (or reading) something that has already been done. Yes, I already read stories where the characters are traveling from planet to planet. Yes, I already read love stories between an alien and a human. And yes, I read stories with kings before. However, this story is totally coming from the author’s imagination, or at least that’s the feeling I have. I don’t feel like I’m reading another story with aliens or in the future or a love story between a king and a non-royal reader that eveybody already knows by heart. No, I am reading Rha’s own story, her scenery, her plots, her descriptions... It was coming from her and it was her interpretation of an ‘alien world’ in the future. And I was even more stunned that I was not expecting that at all. It was in definitive a fucking good surprise. If you ask my opinion, I could even imagine it being the next best-seller book and then someone adapting this fiction in the next record-breaker movie.                             Now, let’s talk about the love story. Shit, fuck, damn. I’ve been craving a good love story these past few days and she gave it to me. A slow burn with a good amount of actions between the two characters, a flirty and sensual back and forth, a little bit of soulmate au, characters who have a personnality and feel truthful emotions, a last chapter with full on smut... It was for me a delight!                             And can we talk about that smut? Spoiler alert: Rha will make you wait until the very last minute, the very last chapter. And after waiting five long chapters, I personally only had two words for that smut... The. Fuck. I was so scared when I read the warnings and I saw tentacles and triple penetration. I was wondering where the author were bringing us. BUT BUT BUT!!! Holy fuck! I think we need all to respect a minute of silence in memory of the old me who just died. BECAUSE HOLY CRAP I FEEL LIKE A NEW WOMAN. No, but honestly, I am starting a new day tomorrow as a new person. This smut was something else. Never thought tentacles could be that exc.... Okay, I’m stopping now before making a whole essay on that perfect-amount-of-kink smut :)))                             I am going to conclude this lil (lol lmao lmfao) comment by emphasizing the work the author put in that fiction. For me, Rha’s story deserve so much recognition. Because this is clearly one of those fics where you can feel everything has been thought. Everything has an explanation, everything arrives at the perfect moment, everything is followed by a logical event, without being predictable. The plot, the secondary plots, the characters, the details... This author truly has nothing to envy to those ‘famous authors’ like J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Austen...                             This was not the first fiction she wrote that I read (she actually is the second account writing about bts I followed) and it is not a surprise that I loved so much this story. I am even certain, even if I just finished reading it, that this fiction will be one of those that you remember of, even years and years after you first read them.                              So Rha, if you happen to read this, let me tell you that you have a real talent, and you should keep embracing it! Love you lots, sweetheart, and I’m looking forward your next pieces of art.

Jeon Jiyeon was your childhood best friend; her brother, Jungkook, was something else entirely. Once upon a time, she had called you her sun and him her moon; it was fitting, given the constant push-and-pull between you two. You used to consider him a friend, but then he had gone from endearingly frustrating dumb boy to card-carrying fuckboy so fast it had given you whiplash.

You often wondered how Jiyeon wasn’t bothered by his behavior. In fact, she often seemed to encourage it. What you failed to see was that she was just trying to show you how he reflected your light. Jiyeon had realized he was in love with you even before he did, but of course she knew. It was a twin thing.

So despite the fighting and teasing, you always found yourself drawn back to him. You knew he was one of two constants in your life: the Jeon twins were - and had always been - your one indisputable truth. You were the sun, Jungkook was the moon, and Jiyeon was the sky holding you both up When she died, it ripped a black hole right through you.

Commentary - I think I will never have the words to express how much I love this story. This fiction has its own place in my heart, and I have the need to come back from time to time to read again and again and again this beautiful piece of work.                          I’m gonna be honest with you. If you don’t like angst, if you don’t want to suffer even a little bit, this fiction is not for you.                          However, you would miss something. And a big something. Yes, your heart will sink, you might even cry but dammit, it is so worth it.                          Plus you will find some comfort in Jungkook and reader’s love story. Who doesn’t love a good ‘enemies to lovers’ at the same time of a ‘friends to lovers’. Did I mention smut? No, I did not yet. SMUT, ladies and gentleman. Good smut.                          In a few words to summarize that all, this is an amazing, wonderful, brilliant masterpiece. Just... go read it.

When you accepted to let Jungkook, your best friend’s younger brother, to live with you, you did not take into account how much he grew up… and became that handsome young man.

Commentary - I’m pretty sure I couldn’t count how many times I read that fiction on only one hand.                          This story is the definition of slow-burn itself. As well as a collation of a roommate au, a best friend’s brother au, a friends to lovers au and an older reader. Let me tell you that when Jungkook and reader finally decides to act on that tension, it doesn’t end up in fire, but rathen in a volcanic eruption. And let’s be honest, that is exactly what we are here for.

The man turns his head and faces the girl, a soft, distant smile plastered on his lips. The gesture is nostalgic, sad, almost loving.

“Y/N,” he murmurs, the name rolling off his lips softly, just as softly as the waves of the sea roll over the sand. “Her name was Y/N.”

Commentary -  I’m not gonna lie, this story, I haven’t read it much. Simply because every single time I read it, I left some parts of my heart behind me.                         You can’t and I promise you that you won’t come out of this fanfiction in one piece. My heart broke the first time I read it. And the second time. And the third time. And this is probably the most I read it. Not that I didn’t like it, on the contrary: it is one of my favorite fictions in here. But there are some stories that you can’t read too many times, because they bring you such a combination of pain and joy, suffering and contentment, sorrow and euphoria that it is hard to handle, that you need some time to heal before reading it again.                          Putting words on what I felt while reading it is hard. I loved the characters, I loved the plot, the different stages of their relationship... And the end! I don’t think I would find someone who wouldn’t want for the end to be different. The last part let me in pain. Literally. I had a knot in my stomach and tears in my eyes. I had to stop two or three times to breathe in before continuing.                           In conclusion, if you love stories full of emotions, just go for that one. I read a lot, like a freaking whole lot. And fuck, this fiction is beautiful. Destructive also, but it is really worth it.

There’s no complicated plot behind this story, but this is exactly what I loved about it.                          Sometimes, you just need a simple story between the reader and her sister’s best friend. A simple story between two young people pining for each other. A simple story maybe, but with a lot of charm.                          I particurly appreciate this story because of its simplicity. Love is not always complicated and impossible, and it is refreshing to read a story that remins you of that.

Commentary - Cream & Sugar is another gem you can find on tumblr. Every time I read this serie, I fall in love once again with the characters of this stories. They are realistic, genuine and fierce. And this is what I love the most about Ashley’s fictions: the realism she puts in every single one of her work.                          The stories are thought, the psychology of the characters have been analyzed, the plot is consistent. This is not a coincidence I love everything that she writes; she has talent, and you should go read her fictions.                          And if you love slow-burn, sexual tension, and a good enemies to lovers universe, I warmly recommend you to start with this beautiful serie that I read multiple times and that I will continue to read again and again.

And for the others who are ready to give it a go, make sure to prepare your eyes and soul beforehand. This fiction is made of 90% of smut. This is kinky Jungkook asf, this is filth, this is all we like to read. Plus if we add the friends to lovers theme on top of everything else, this fiction can be considered as the holy grail for sinners like me. (But if you consider yourself pure and innocent, I promise the damnation is worth it.)

So having them reunited in one fiction is a delight.

Commentary - For some reasons, this story hit me hard.                          I love reading werewolf au, or should I say that I just love everything that is supernatural and magical. But this one was different.                          No crazy smut, no mate au, no pack. At some point, I even thought about Red Riding Hood, but not because the stories are similar. Far from it.                          I didn’t realize it directly, but after a few days, I was still thinking about it, and I could imagine telling that story to my future children. And then I realized why I was associating it to Red Riding Hood.                          This story feels like a fairytale. The famous ones. The ones that you tell your children before they go to sleep. The ones with magic, as much in the story itself as in the way it is written. The ones that make you still think about them days after you first read it. This story is literally a fairytale.

Plus the alchemy between reader and Jk is too good to not count that fiction in the top of my list of fictions. You add smut, fluff and the right amount of angst and BAM! You end up with a five stars fiction that you will devour until the very end.

the ultimate 2020 masterlist ayeeeee! 🎉

2020 has been a busy year. i wrote and published a bunch of phanfics, adding up to 124,433 words. i’m also currently working on my ospbb fic which adds another 25k to the word count! on top of that, i wrote a fic i’m going to publish in the next few days, adding another 10k. almost 160k in the phandom! 🎉

IMPROMPTU CHALLENGE what’s a great idea if you want to participate in nanowrimo? yep - spend a big part of october writing. i had a lot of fun, tho! ♥ it was really awesome to try out so many different stories and oooooof returning to short stories helped me SO MUCH. cliffhanger It happened so out of the blue. One day, Dan's twin brother was gone. He didn't return home that night - he never did. The sea took him and Dan was left alone. Just like that. the emperor's new clothes Dan picked a special outfit for their dinner date. Phil doesn't quite know how to deal with it. with you by my side Dan and Phil spend their first night together. But Dan can’t fall asleep. family of ten Having a serious conversation with your biggest daughter is rather difficult. Especially when she wants to know if you regret having children. drifting Dan is in love. But his love is confined to a place with blue dim and an electrical hum. exclusive content: murder Meeting with this guy from the internet is kind of risky, kind of sketchy. But it's not just some random guy, it's Phil. So Dan feels safe. Is he right, though? scars of luck Luck. That's what Phil calls it. But Dan knows better. cutting ties Phil likes Dan a lot, he really does. Still, he can't let him know more about his life. A Song for Lottie ~ Dan was quite happy without Phil in his life. But then, Lottie came along. Lottie, the annoying girl with a sweet tooth and a bad mouth. And you just can't say no to Lottie. Even when she wants you to meet Phil again. ~ sooo i volunteered to be a pinch hitter for the phandom reverse bang. (just in case you can’t tell - i love pinch hitting ♥ just hit me up - pun intended - whenever you need a pinch hitter. i’m a sucker for challenges ♥) and i did what you do as pinch hitter - begin a multi-chapter fic with several storylines. wait, you usually don’t do that? damn, nobody told me :D the story has been on a break for a while but i’m planning to write the next chapter this week! doppelt. ~ The big wheel in Manchester. The big wheel in another Manchester. Phil's disappearance. Finding Phil - twice. Dealing with Doppelgängers. That's not exactly what Dan expected from their first meeting. But in the end, being with Phil is all that matters. ~ i’m not only a sucker for pinch hitting - i also love projects. this time, i took part in the phandom big bang. the first ideas were super ambitious and nobody could understand them and i couldn’t wrap them up so i broke it down a lot. i guess i shouldn’t try to enter metaphysics into a fic - especially considering i have no clue about metaphysics. :D thriving. ~ Sometimes, you meet someone who changes your life. Someone who becomes your best friend. Someone who becomes more to you than just a best friend. Fandoms You Write For: I’m a fandom hopper! In the past year or so it’s been Hawaii Five-0 (a truly ridiculous amount), Shadowhunters, Venom, Harry Potter, due South and Stargate Atlantis. Other fandoms I’ve written at least one fic for are Twilight, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Glee, BBC Merlin, BBC Atlantis, Teen Wolf, In The Flesh, Star Wars, Supernatural, the MCU and High School Musical. And uh, Alexander the Great/Voltaire fic (which would be... history fandom? RPF?) and one (1) Judas/Jesus Biblefic. If we’re getting really technical, also a tiny little bit of One Direction fic.

It should be noted that all of this is about fic that ended up getting posted somewhere on the interwebs - there are multiple Star Trek (TOS/AOS and DS9) fics lingering in my drafts (!! one day I will finish one of them), as well as some How To Train Your Dragon, The Good Place and Deadpool stuff, and definitely more I’ve forgotten.

Where You Post: Since I made the switch to writing in English everything has landed on ao3, but I used to write mostly in Dutch, so there’s still close to a million words, I think, under my name on quizlet.nl (not to be confused with quizlet.com, which is a very different website).

Most Popular One-Shot: That depends on how you’re measuring popularity! Going by kudos, it’s Tell me I’m perfect (but tell me the truth), a Magnus/Alec Shadowhunters fic. It’s the truth is a really old fic about Percy Weasley/Oliver Wood from Harry Potter that has the most hits out of all my works, and That time Steve kissed every single Avenger (and also Bucky), an MCU Steve/Bucky fic, has the greatest number of comment threads.

Also, since this is an h50 blog: for my fic in this fandom Wanted: partner (in crime) has the most kudos and hits; You had me at meow has the most comments.

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: I’m working on one for h50 (going slowly, so slowly), but I don’t have any posted to ao3. I used to write a lot of multi-chaptered work in my quizlet.nl days, and I think my most popular fic there was probably the second fic I ever wrote, when I was fourteen or fifteen, which was a next-gen Harry Potter fic with shifting and overlapping POVs from the three Potter kids. It was kind of, well, not great, but it’s probably what really cemented my writing habit, it’s still my longest fic ever (over a 100k!) and I got my first fandom friends out of it, including one I’m still in contact with to this day, even though neither of us writes much if anything for Harry Potter anymore.

Favourite Story You Wrote: Ohhh, that’s such an impossible question, especially because I’ve been churning out one-shots like I might actually be getting paid for it, so there’s so much to choose from, which is a thing I have difficulty doing at the best of times, holy shit. Uh, I once wrote a 70k Remus/Sirius (Harry Potter) modern college-ish AU in Dutch that I still like; weirdly, I think that Biblefic holds up (also Dutch), and the HSM fic is fun to reread once in a while because of the fourth wall break, as is That escalated quickly, a Percy/Oliver fic. Ooh, and the fic about Shuri and Stucky and a goat!

For h50, it’s even harder to choose, because my preferences change pretty much weekly (a combination of newer fic being shinier, looking back at fic from even just a few months ago and finding things I would have done differently now, and comments influencing the way I personally look at my own fic), but right now, I’d say I still really like the fic where Steve adopts some guinea pigs, the one with the slightly tipsy team bonding by talking about mutual crushes and this 9.11 coda fix fluff getting together thing.

Story You Were Nervous to Post: That Biblefic, haha, because it’s a very complicated topic and my aim was definitely not to offend. People were really sweet about it, though! Mostly, they were kind of shocked it wasn’t crack, but that’s fair, because so was I.

Also pretty much anything I post in a new fandom, really, and low key just... anything at all. I’m always a little scared I tagged something super badly or accidentally copy-pasted the wrong text or unknowingly wrote something super offensive or whatever, despite my double- and triplechecking of the posting form. (I’m also still kind of scared people on ao3 will randomly decide they hate my fic and my writing and me personally (ao3 is really big and very anonymous and coming from the small town that was quizlet.nl even in its heyday, that’s scary), but that fear has abated as I’ve posted more, just because the data is showing pretty conclusively that thought is as irrational as it sounds. Everyone is always so nice, gosh.)

How Do You Pick Your Titles: Mostly, I steal lines from random songs. I have a small pile of song lyrics to use as potential titles, because going on a seperate hunt for every new fic would take most of my waking hours. Sometimes, I’ll use a pun (like You had me at meow or Retail Therapy) or something else that I think sounds good, especially if the fic is mostly comedy and/or has a specific premise that would do well in a title (like Five times the Governor of Hawaii suspects his taskforce leaders are violating fraternization policies (and one time they tell him they are)).

Do You Outline: I’m mostly writing fic of (sometimes much) less than 5k at the moment, so not really. I do sometimes write tiny bits of a bunch of scenes and then fill in the rest around that, which is a kind of outline, in a way. For longer works, I usually make a one page bullet point list of things that need to happen and work from there, because I can’t do really extensive outlining or I’ll just get caught up in the details and lose all of the oversight a tool like that is supposed to give you, as well as most of my enthusiasm for the project.

How Many Of Your Stories Are Complete: Of the ones posted? On ao3, all of them, because unfinished posted one-shot works would require some strange bending of those concepts. On quizlet.nl, I do have some abandoned works, but I think 80% is finished.

In-Progress: SO MUCH. Seriously, just, so much, oh god. I’d really like to write another Stargate Atlantis fic (and I have 30% of one done), and something more for due South, too, and maybe a small Percy/Oliver thing again some time because they were my very first OTP and I kind of miss them, but mostly I have, like, 100+ half written things for h50. I really wish that number was an exaggeration. There’s no way they’ll all get finished, but maybe... a third? Mayhaps?

That One Truly Long H50 Fic that I was already talking about way back in October last year is also eternally “in progress”. The thing is that it has about 25k now, after a year, and I think it needs... at least four times that. Probably. So either I’ll have to stick with this fandom and my slow progress for another three years to have a shot at getting it finished, or I’ll need to find a way to up the speed a little. Maybe I could try working on it for NaNo this November? That would be pretty awesome, but honestly, part of why it’s moving this slowly is because NaNo-style fast and messy writing for this scares me a little, because I might end up writing a lot, decide it’s not what I wanted for it, and become too intimidated to ever edit and/or rewrite the entire thing. But idk, I probably just need to get over my own fears, because I really do want to write Longer Fic again. Short stuff is fun and feels really productive and that’s great, but I miss the actual slow burn and build-up that only 50k+ words can give you.

Coming Soon: Hopefully a lot? For h50, that is. I have no idea what’s getting posted next, because I’m never entirely sure what’s going to be finished next and something really random might come jumping in, but at the moment I’m trying to direct most of my energies at a slightly longer fic I’ve been working on for months (not The Long Fic, a different one), a fic labeled “9.01 memory loss fic”, another one temporarly entitled “Perfect Kauai beach house vacation”, and maybe an ace!Steve fic I’ve been working on, if I ever manage to uh, actually finish that, instead of rewriting three sentences during every round of editing and never actually adding anything to fill in the gaps it still has. There will also be more season 10 codas, in all likelihood.

Do You Accept Prompts: I’ve never done that before in the traditional way, but I’m thinking about it! I’d love to try (and it would be a breath of fresh air, in some ways!), but the main thing holding me back is that I have way too much on my plate with just my own ideas to work off of, and I don’t want to disappoint people. Maybe if I do drabble-ish prompt fills? It’s definitely been on my mind.

Upcoming Story You’re the Most Excited For: I’m excited for a lot of stuff, but honestly, the top spot right now probably goes to the ace!Steve fic. I’m not even sure it’s that good, necessarily, but it’s, idk, really cathartic, I suppose. Seriously self-indulgent in strange but very good ways. I really like writing it. (Second spot goes to the beach vacation fic, because I haven’t actually written that much for it, but it’s been my go-to easy happy place for the last few weeks.)

1: how old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?ohh, I was fourteen!! I only know/remember this because it was pirates of the caribbean fanfiction and it was literally the NIGHT after I got back from seeing it in the theaters lmao 

5: if you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why?COWBOY AND THE MUSTANG!!!! HANDS. DOWN. Oh, there’s so many reasons tbh and I could go into an essay about why, but I’ll condense it down for this answer. The main reason is that I really, really enjoy writing horses in any capacity, but the second reason is that it’s become the story I always wanted to write. I always DREAMED about writing a romance story where horses played a large part and what I’ve come up with next for cowboy and the mustang is SO exciting and I am DYING to write it. so far, all four parts add up to 25k words according to ao3. last year I told myself I would finally stop stalling or doubting myself and write a romance novella that’s at least 50k words… and with what I have planned next, I think cowboy and the mustang just might be that novella. plus, writing about cowboy adam, writing adam bonding with horses, and writing adam as a single father to a little girl ajdfksdlksakmjdslksd I just really, genuinely love this story so, so much. It’s very near and dear to my heart and when other people tell me THEY enjoy it to it just…I can’t even begin to explain how much it means to me.

10: in Christmas Catharsis, why did you decide to end it like that? Did you have an alternative ending in mind?honestly I had no alternative ending in mind! christmas catharsis, as the hangman gang knows, was a random inspiration I got two days before my smutmas fic was due to be posted. the story was one of those that just POURED out of me. it demanded to be written. I knew I wanted to keep it in the same day and write it (basically) moment-for-moment, because of how important their connection was. it’s supposed to be a magical, heavy, all-pressing weight pushing on them and forcing them closer and closer together despite all the reasons they may want to keep apart (particularly noelle). I knew I wanted to end with a little joke, just to help break how emotion-heavy the ride was, and I actually came up with adam’s stupid “oh I have plans srry haha sike my plans are with you!” joke about halfway through writing the ficlet itself.

20: are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?hmmm… none that spring up immediately to mind, but I know there are certain ones I wish I would have added a little more to.  maybe ‘the cowboy hat stays on’ I would have liked to have added more to?? sometimes I think if I could revisit that fic there’s a LOT I would rewrite.

25: have you ever cried whilst writing a story?okay… I know this is supposed to be about fanfiction, but… I have not yet cried when writing fanfiction (although my recent comfort fic got me a little bit when adam broke down) BUT just recently while writing with my best friend we wrote something that makes me full on SOB and I wish I could talk to people about. I had to take breaks when writing because I was crying so much and I haven’t even had the heart to go back and read it. It’s a poly trio, where the girl (my character) is in love with two brothers who are the president and vp of a 1% motorcycle gang. the three of them have been the best of friends for years, a perfect little family unit. my girl had previously confessed how she felt to both men and they decided that until she made up her mind which one she wanted to marry and be with, neither of them could have her. they don’t know about being poly at the moment. so anyways, in this chapter we just wrote, my girl and one of the guys broke down and caved to their attraction and started kissing. when they broke apart the guy thought that meant my girl chose him, but she said no. she still loved them BOTH equally and she could NOT have one without the other. well, on the club side of things, their peaceful town has been getting wild and there’s been a lot of death and danger close to home. the guy decides (he’s the president) that’s it. this isn’t safe. they’re all suffering and he’s afraid a target will come on her if anyone figures it out so he tells her… that’s it. he’s sending her away. for good. she’ll go and live her life and be happy and free of the club drama. and her heart fucking BREAKS. she full on breaks down sobbing and FUCK i ship these character soooo hard that it just… it hurts SO BAD. anyways, the vp brother comes home and finds his brother (the president) silently crying, runs into her room and finds her SOBBING and he just holds her and his brother comes in and tells him he’s sending her away. she wants them both and it’s not safe anymore. the vp brother breaks down SOBBING holding onto her begging his brother not to take her (he used to be addicted to drugs but he got clean thanks to the girl and he’s terrified he’ll have to go back to using once she’s gone). eventually they come to the conclusion that it is the best thing for her and she leaves them and fuck it HURTS. obviously they won’t be able to take it and a lot more drama is going to happen but EVENTUALLY they will be a secret poly trio and they will be HAPPY DAMMIT anyways if you’ll indulge me I’m gonna post a small part of it:

Leaving was going to keep her safe, but who was going to keep them safe?  Reagan squeezed tighter around Teddy and sobbed harder into his chest, knowing there were no answers she’d like.  She knew if something happened to them, even knowing there would be nothing she could have done if she was here, Reagan would feel guilty for every breath she took that they couldn’t.

Because it wasn’t just her whose heart was breaking.  It was all of them.  All three of their hearts were shattered, forced apart.  The only difference was Reagan could be sent away without anyone following her, without the entire club falling to pieces because of it.  Teddy and Eli were still going to have to be here, where reality had turned scary, and they’d be in danger’s way every single day.

It both hurt worse, knowing they’d be hurting, and comforted her, because at least she wasn’t crazy to feel as heartbroken as she did.

“I wish I could take you both with me,” she said, pathetically, muffled into Teddy’s chest as the three of them just held each other in the silence that chased their cries.  She found that a piece of her hated that the first (and likely only) time she had them both, wrapped into their joined embrace, was for this reason.  She hated everything that’d happened, but most of all she hated that she was powerless to change it.

That this had to be their answer.

Teddy kissed her, and Reagan pushed back into the kiss as hard and needy as she felt, so he’d always remember not only what she’d said, but how much she’d meant it.  She was never, ever going to stop loving him.  She could leave no room for doubt.

Then Eli kissed her.  Feverish.  Desperate. As if he wanted to put his lips everywhere and know what every piece of her tasted like before he lost her forever. Reagan tumbled into Eli’s passion, wrapped up in him and dizzy by the time Teddy called him back.  Her hands fell out of his and instantly felt achy with cold.  She clasped them together, and her lips pressed and quivered, and the view of them blurred and danced, and their home behind her, and the life she’d always thought of as the perfect one.

“I…”  she didn’t know what she could say that’d already been said.  There wasn’t anything.  She just didn’t want to admit the time had come.  She needed to leave.  That was all that was left.  Her tongue swept her dry lips and tasted their tears and their kisses.  She sniffed and forced herself to turn away, reaching to wipe at her cheeks and walking too quickly to the driver’s side of the car.

For Teddy, Reagan made herself get into that car.  She always believed Teddy was right and there was no better proof of her reverence to his word than her acceptance of his decree, even if it was the hardest thing she’d ever had to do.  Reagan threw no more fits.  Reagan didn’t try and argue around the solution.  She reached up, adjusting the review mirror, swallowed back the tears at them in the sight of it, and pushed her boot down on the gas pedal, driving away and trying not to think about how much smaller they were getting as she did.

As with every year I’ve done this review, I don’t feel like I’ve done much writing.  But I have written, and that’s something to be very proud of.  I finally started working on my cyberpunk idea that I’ve been kicking around for years, and as much as it’s fighting me, I’m still excited for what it’s becoming.

Long haul trucking can be a lonely business. Sure, Dean can chat up other drivers on the CB, and when Sam’s not in class or drowning in homework he’ll let Dean talk his ear off on the phone. But it’s still hours and hours of staring at the road and scanning the radio dial for local stations because he’s too lazy to upgrade the truck to satellite radio. And then a flirty waiter in a 24 hour truck stop restaurant sits down with him to chat while he eats his dinner, and suddenly his life no longer feels quite so empty.

Photography doesn’t pay much, and insomnia is a bastard. Which is why Castiel accepts his cousin's offer of employment at the truck stop restaurant. The graveyard shift is perfect for his fucked up sleep schedule, and Gabriel doesn’t mind if he sneaks a free meal now and then. Besides, all the most interesting people come into the restaurant in the middle of the night. I actually started this fic in August of 2017, and got burned out.  But I came back and finished it this January.  It’s only half of what I wanted it to be, but I think it wrapped up nicely anyway, and I can always come back and write the other parts that I’d originally planned as a part 2.

I wrote this instead of working on Dreaming in Digital because I needed a break, but I also felt like writing porn. I also felt like writing an a/b/o fic where there's no stigma over fucking strangers for funsies, and there's no such thing as STDs.  Sometimes ya just gotta play a little, ya know?

Sequel to Feels Like Home

This isn’t actually a finished fic.  I started it in May 2015, right around the same time I started writing for the Destiel fandom.  I ended up abandoning it entirely, and always felt guilty.  So I went back and wrote a this-is-what-i-had-planned chapter, so I could mark it complete.  There’s a part of me that wants to go back to it, but I probably never will.

This is another unfinished fic that I started in May of 2012.  I abandoned it just a few chapters to the end because it was sad and difficult, and also I was starting to write Mass Effect fic which had a stronger hold on my attention.  Like For Better Or Worse, I decided to wrap it up with a last chapter explaining my plans.

Blood bonds are a once in a lifetime kind of thing, and Dean's already experienced--and lost--his. No alpha would ever want an omega that already smells mated to someone else... would they?

Another a/b/o fic that I decided to write to play with the trope in a new way, and also to take my mind off of Dreaming in Digital.

Dean is the monster that goes bump in the night, and when it's time to dispose of his latest victim, he ignores the signs warning him to stay out of the forest because there's not much out there scarier than him. But that doesn't mean there's nothing...

I’ve always wanted to try my hand at dark fic, and I think I pulled it off nicely with this one.  I think it’s hilarious how many people told me “it’s not dark, it’s fluffy!” and I’m just like THERE IS SMUT AND FLESH EATING GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME YOU SICK MONSTERFUCKERS.  This fic is just proof that I’ve found a lovely circle of weirdos to be friends with, and I love you guys :)

Dreaming in Digital: 129,676 (WIP)

When Dean finds a deactivated sex bot, he knows it's his lucky day.

Such a simple summary for a fic that’s anything but simple.  I started it in February of this year, and it’s taking me a long time to write because it’s so much more than the smutfest that it sounds like it should be.  I’m about halfway through, and I doubt I’ll have it finished by February of 2019 because it’s such a beast.  I’m proud of what it’s becoming though.  Very proud.  And also entertained af every time I get a comment suggesting I change the summary because it sounds like it should be mostly smutty, but is in fact hardly smutty at all.  

Maybe I should change the summary to make it sound less porny so that it’ll lure in more readers, but I love those comments soooo much lol

So anyway!  That’s my writing this year, the stuff I’ve shared publicly anyway.  I’ve also got a bunch of stuff squirreled away in WIP folders.  I’ve got a dark fic where Angels are monsters that can change their victims, and Castiel has decided to change Dean against his will, and I’ve got a Fake Marriage/Mafia AU that’s actually got a couple chapters written.  I’ve also poked at a story involving Cas as a sentient wolf, and a Snowed In fic that I’ve been trying to finish by tonight, but that definitely won’t happen.  So I’ve got about 25k in WIPs that show I’ve been working even during my down times.  

Here’s hoping 2019 is just as productive, if not more!
