#las nevadas is essentially doing the same thing

Now that I've got my c!Quackity apologism out the way, here's some scattered thoughts about how terrible he is.
His first instinct is to use everyone he meets. The only reason he didn't literally murder c!Slime after their first conversation was because he thought he could use him as a spy, and once he realized that c!Slime knew little about human interaction, he took it as an opportunity to exploit him for free labor. There's a similar trend with pretty much every Las Nevadas member—he essentially murdered c!Foolish to prove a point.
He has to be the one in control. In Las Nevadas, in El Rapids, in New L'Manberg—hell, even partly with c!Schlatt! He has no problems with bulldozing through everyone else to put his plans into motion. I think there's potentially a point to be made about him cutting off his friends in Kinoko specifically because it wasn't his; he would be at a weaker position in someone else's territory, even if that someone else is the people he's closest to. Any care he might have for others doesn't survive past his own ambitions.
Violence is his go-to approach for solving problems. Why engage in peaceful negotiations when you can murder, torture, manipulate and coerce? I think that c!Quackity has the ability to separate parts of his identity that he deems unrelated: one version of c!Quackity is caring, another version is sadistic. Which is a terrifying way to look at oneself, because it means that he can do horrendous things and think nothing of it. No remorse at all.
That same violence becomes so normalized to him that it's nothing more than routine. He asks c!Foolish to build a path to the prison so he can improve his "commute"—like daily torture is a 9-5 office job. Everything he says throughout the Las Nevadas arc takes on this fake sheen; nothing he says is believable because nothing he says is true. I think even c!Quackity himself has trouble defining what he genuinely believes at times. How can a person be loved if that person isn't even real?

Whats your favourite aspect of your spiderverse/dsmp crossover?
thank you for the ask!!!!!!!!! there’s LOTS. but probably m!dream, who is miguel!dream. he’s our c!dream but fucked up multiplied by infinity, and a total mess of failed attempts and suicidal sacrifice. in his timeline, he was broken out of prison, and stayed with the syndicate, who helped him regain a reason to live. in his timeline, he killed tommy — and didn’t revive him. this caused a collapse of the server’s peace and stability, resulting in total devastation / death all around the server.
m!dream believes the only way to avoid that is to stick to canon events, which he discovers match along his original plan. let l’manburg pull away when he gets the disks. november sixteenth. the prison arc. the revival book. destroying las nevadas in a breakout. and letting himself be killed.
and across so many other dimensions, he’s succeeded at making his alternate selves follow those plans.
until he tries to do the same with c!diskduo. and everything begins to go wrong. and he’s so angry, so desperate to make things right.
essentially he’s just a bundle of barely-repressed trauma and rage and misery, so far gone he’s forgotten himself as an individual in trying to save the collective servers.
m!dream makes me soooo so fucking sad. i need a better thing to call him but i’ll figure it out ! these are being written very new into the au so things will get changed most likely :D

Didn’t expect this one, huh? I don’t really see anyone posting about Nevada, so I figured I will.
Why did I give him boot heels? ‘Cause I thought they’d be fun.
Do I have more interest in Nevada because of this headcanon? Yes.
Nevada Headcanons (under cut)
His State Spirit’s form is silver patches on his skin. They completely cover his hands and forearms, and there are big spots on the bridge of his nose and tops of his cheeks.
The stronger his Spirit becomes and/or the more intense his emotions are, the more silver covers his skin. If his Spirit becomes stronger than when his entire body is covered, then it will start spreading on surfaces he touches.
When Nevada feels down, the silver starts to tarnish.
He can see Spirit and he keeps his ability a secret from everyone else. He definitely uses his ability to spot obvious tells when playing poker with other states.
Ex. Louisiana’s wing flipping when he gets a bad hand. Texas’s ears wiggling when he’s satisfied with his cards.
I have Nevada’s height as 6′ 2″ in heels, 5′ 10″ without.
Nevada’s showgirl headpiece is his lucky charm. He doesn’t like people touching it.
He has a habit of brushing his hair back with the feathers when he feels frustrated or to try and draw some more luck out.
Nevada…wearing black, thigh-high boot heels…regularly.
Chunky heels, though. About three to four inches. That’s more sensible.
When Texas criticized Nevada for wearing high heels, he retorted with how Texas was basically wearing the same thing with his cowboy boots. In fact, Texas’s boots are much more elaborate in decoration than Nevada’s.
Like SoCal, Nevada could probably do a killer drag show.
When it gets really hot, he’ll roll them down or switch to more breathable shoes.
He has very deft hands, being skilled in both sleight-of-hand and pickpocketing.
Nevada also picked up cardistry as a hobby to keep his hands nimble.
He doesn’t cheat at games when he can help it, though his opponents would say that his ability to see Spirit would definitely be cheating. If they knew, of course.
Nevada has scars on his legs from nuclear bomb testing.
Not really a headcanon but I don’t think anyone’s ever acknowledged that it’s canon that Nevada has a job at the Las Vegas Strip. We don’t know what exactly the job is, but is it bad that I immediately thought of NSFW options?
The idea I’m playing with right now is that Nevada works at Caesars Palace as essentially an exclusive private butler service, specifically for the Claudius Villa. He has a unique uniform and everything. Celebrities and high-rollers alike find him to be a hot commodity, because who can say that they’ve been served before by the rare and exotic personification of Nevada State itself?
Canon Nevada has trouble with counting, but like Florida with White Claw math, Nevada will do much better if you put the problem in a different context. He can do math much better if put in the context of probability, games, or money.
If you ask Nevada what’s 9+10 as just numbers, he may unironically answer 21.

Okay I'm having some messy thoughts, but I really need to think aloud here.
Werewolf by Night, to some degree, is about family and the legacies it carries.
First we have Elsa, a member of the Bloodstone family that is essentially an outcast. Originally destined to inherit the bloodstone, she's now forced to compete with the other hunters for it. We don't get full details why she left or how she left (though in most of the movie we have a lot of context missing, for the best in my opinion). We just know she did and she's estranged. No longer worthy enough as a daughter or no longer enough of a daughter to be worthy enough for the stone.
But still she fights for it and claims that it is rightfully hers.
Then we have Jack. Jack arrives to what he likely assumes to be a normal funeral (I say this because while the other hunters appeared in hunting gear, he wore a dark, probably black, suit (EDIT: it's not black, but it's still a suit)) wearing Dia de los Muertos makeup. Makeup that is best described in the scene where he says it's to honor his ancestors. Interestingly, the other hunter he speaks to is a little.. dismissive towards that reasoning, let's say. Jack, based on facial expressions alone, is put off by that, but doesn't say much.
Later when he's stuck with Elsa, he discusses family. Saying that family is like an atmosphere constantly there. Saying that sometimes you think you can do one thing to make yourself different from them. Obviously this is directed towards Elsa who is currently sitting in front of her dead relatives. Who's trying to get the bloodstone herself for... whatever reason. Clearly she's not involved with her father anymore. Maybe this is thing that she'll change? Maybe she'll break the cycle by having the bloodstone and... what? Does she know?
And what about Jack. He's literally saying all this in Dia de los Muertos makeup!! In the comics, the werewolf curse is something he received through lineage. So is that the cycle he's trapped in? To be the monster his family made him? After centuries (?) of living, he's still not at peace with this curse. Maybe he's just given up on trying to fix any of it. Maybe he's trying to get Elsa to see something he thinks he's already figured out.
Oh, and the cage scene. He says "once". Not to bring in comics again But. Do you think that once was his sister? He clearly holds the memory close enough that he immediately tries to use it to protect Elsa. This is something he dwells on constantly. He just knew to try to repeat it the moment he realized the danger.
Elsa gets the bloodstone like she wanted. He doesn't kill Elsa like he feared he would. He frees Ted, the person he references as family and later a friend. Did they get that one change he was talking about? Can they break the cycle? Do the even know what part of the cycle they're trying to break?
... I can't help but think about how his makeup is almost completely faded at the end of the film.

Changes- Michael Emerson x OC
Michael Emerson x Edith Jackson
Description: Edith was never good when it came to change, but she finally finds an exception.
Word Count: 1.9k
Handling change was not one of Edith’s strong suits. She was essentially the leader/second in command to her coven behind her sire. That meant she liked having control, and she liked knowing when things were going to happen. Which in turn also meant she hated any sort of change with all her being.
When her sire Susannah died, Edith was devastated. She desperately wanted to stay and try to help her, even when she knew that it wouldn’t do any good. But, she had a coven to look after now. So, she did what Susannah said and moved herself, Wendy and Heather from Las Vegas, Nevada to Santa Carla, California. Granted, it was only one state away, but she was still uncomfortable with such a big move. Then the fact that she and the girls had to join another coven and receive a new sire did not help her case.
This was possibly the first time in her vampiric life that she felt out of control. She had a feeling Wendy knew that too because the younger vampire had yet to let go of her hand. It offered her comfort as she tried to control her thoughts and feelings. Heather had apparently gone off to the boardwalk with Marko after finding out they were mates (so we’re David and Wendy, but that was a whole other story), leaving Edith and Wendy alone with these strangers while she herself was out with a stranger. Edith didn’t like it one bit.
“You don’t need to keep calling us strangers,” David spoke out of nowhere, having apparently been listening to her thoughts.
“We’ve known you for less than two hours, you’re still strangers, to us” she retorted in a flat tone.
“We won’t be for long. We’re family now, after all,” he responded coolly with a smirk, making her roll her eyes. Before she could make a witty response someone cut her off.
“We’re back,” a feminine voice called. It wasn’t Heather though, it was a different person.
“There are more of you?” Wendy asked, looking at David. Her question was quickly answered when a kid no older than ten or eleven ran in, making a beeline for Dwayne. Edith stared at the young boy in surprise, realizing that he was a half vampire.
“You’re trying to turn a kid?” Edith raised an eyebrow at David, who only shrugged at her in response. Just a moment later a girl and boy walked in behind him. The girl was pretty, and she wore a red windbreaker on top of a white and red striped shirt and a denim skirt. Aside from Marko’s jacket this was the first pop of color that Edith had seen in this ragtag group, which was a refreshing sight. The boy, despite wearing just about the same thing as the other guys, caught her attention anyway. He was incredibly handsome with brown curly hair and beautiful blue eyes that Edith almost got lost in if she hadn’t caught herself.
“You were supposed to be back here at 10:00,” David said in a reprimanding tone directed at the girl.
“Don’t get your panties in a twist David,” the girl rolled her eyes as she sat on the other side of Dwayne. “We’re only a few minutes late. Laddie wanted to get one last ride in before we had to go.”
“Maybe you should learn how to say no.”
“Maybe you should learn how to be patient.” Edith couldn’t help but laugh at the girl’s response, which caught her attention.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t aware we had company,” she said with a polite smile. David nodded.
“Julie, this is Edith and Wendy, new members of our little family. I’m sure you saw Heather with Marko when you were at the boardwalk,” he introduced before facing Wendy and Edith. “Girls, this is Julie, Laddie, and that one over there is Michael. They’re half vampires.” He gestured to the boy, who had stopped in the doorway. At first the boy, Michael, just stood there, but he eventually nodded in acknowledgement.
Then, his eyes met Edith’s. His eyes were even prettier when she was looking directly into them. His gaze on her was intense, and for the first time in her vampiric life she felt the need to make herself smaller. Not for any negative reasons; he didn’t intimidate her or anything like that. She was just so unused to whatever feelings were running through her that she felt the need to hide until she could control them. One of the many thoughts was realization. There was only one reason she’d feel so many varying emotions despite not even speaking to this guy yet: they were mates. Michael’s eyes widened and Edith realized that she hadn’t been blocking her mind from the others. Including Michael and David.
“Well, this night just keeps getting better,” he spoke up, a smirk on his face. Edith didn’t say anything though. Instead she sat frozen in her seat, her hand becoming limp in Wendy’s. A weird and slightly uncomfortable sort of tension filled the room.
“Well it’s so nice to meet you,” Julie said in a chipper voice in an attempt to ease said tension, but the words were muffled in Edith’s ears. First the move here and joining another coven, and now this. There were too many changes happening. Once again she was growing overwhelmed. She couldn’t stay in that room another minute. Before anyone could say anything she was standing up.
“Excuse me,” was all she said before getting the hell out of there. She gingerly pushed back Michael and left the cave, though she didn’t go far. Once she reached the top of the bluff she stopped by a group of motorcycles and a car. She let out a scream of frustration that had been drowned out by the waves that crashed against the cliffside. Every single emotion she’d forced herself to hold back over the last few days finally fell over like water spilling through a broken dam.
Sorrow for the loss of her sire - her friend and her sister. Worry about how she was supposed to lead her sisters now because they had all come to a silent agreement that Max would never be their true sire. Irritation at just how easy it seemed for David to get under her skin in the short amount of time she’d known him. Shock about the fact that she’d found her mate in all the chaos. Fear of how many changes she had to go through. And finally, anger about allowing herself to break down so openly.
Once she finally got everything out, she didn’t quite know what to do. She would rather die than go face the others after all but storming out. But, she couldn’t leave Wendy with David, mates or not. Speaking of mates, Edith couldn’t help but notice just how many times her thoughts seemed to lead back to Michael. It unsettled her how she almost seemed to be obsessed with him after being in his presence for no more than a few-
“Are you okay?” Asked an unfamiliar voice from behind her. It was so quiet any normal person likely wouldn’t have heard it over the crashing waves, which is why she was grateful to have enhanced hearing for once. Nevertheless her brows furrowed and she turned, only to see Michael standing at the top of the stairs that led to the mouth of the cave the others were in. Speak of the devil. Edith was quick to wipe away any remaining tear streaks before taking a deep (albeit shaky) breath and nodding.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just need a moment,” she responded softly, then laughed quietly. “Sorry for the dramatic exit.” Michael laughed with her, and it was music to her ears.
“I get it. I was surprised too.” Edith nodded again. She couldn’t think of anything to say so they stood in silence for a minute, then the boy spoke again.
“Wendy told me about your sire,” he mentioned softly. “I’m sorry for your loss.” His tone was sincere, which admittedly brought a weak smile to her face.
“Thank you. I appreciate it.” Michael nods in response, taking a moment to glance around before facing her again.
“Do you want to go for a ride?” He ultimately asked, gesturing to the car a few feet away from them.
“Trying to get me alone?” Edith joked, earning a quiet laugh from the boy.
“Maybe,” he joked in response. “Seriously though, I’ve found that whenever I need to clear my head a car ride is the best trick. I doubt you want to go back to the cave right now anyway, and I think we have a few things to talk about. Think about it.” And think about it, she did. Edith took a moment to go over her options before finally nodding.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Without another word she went around to the passenger side and climbed in, Michael doing the same in the driver's seat.
The two rode around the city for who knows how long. Despite the fact that Edith had never been here before, she had the distinct feeling they didn’t have a destination. She was fine with that too. The longer she was away from David and his stupid brothers, the better. The car ride was silent for a long time. They didn’t need to talk, though. The silence between them was actually quite peaceful. It wasn’t until Michael pulled into an empty parking lot that Edith finally spoke.
“So, you’re only half vampire?” She asked, her curiosity getting the best of her. The boy nodded in response, which prompted her to ask why. He stayed silent for a moment, lost in thought about how to answer, before finally doing so.
“I didn’t want to become one in the first place,” he admitted softly. “I was initiated against my will and without my knowledge by David and Max. Max wanted to turn my mom into a sort of mother for David and his brothers, so they initiated me and I’m pretty sure they were gonna do the same for my little brother Sam. It was this whole ordeal, but we eventually reached an agreement that left my mom and brother alive and me a half vampire. I never had a reason to complete the transformation,” he paused, then chuckled and shook his head. “Guess I finally found one in you. Mates, you know.” Edith hesitated before nodding.
“I don’t want you to think that just because we’re mates I’m gonna immediately be all lovey dovey with you. If we’re ‘destined for eternity’ or whatever, I want it to be because we got ourselves there instead of it automatically starting there. So don’t think about turning until we’re sure that we're gonna last. Got it?”
“Got it,” he nodded. “To be honest I’m glad you said that. I feel the same way.” The girl smiled, relieved to hear that.
“Good,” she nodded before laughing. “It’s weird. I don’t really remember what my life was like before being turned, but I do remember that I was much more outgoing. If I was still human I would’ve asked you out the minute I saw you.” She watched a blush quickly form on the boy’s cheeks and he chuckled.
“I’ll do the honors then. Would you like to go out sometime?”
“How about right now?” Edith answered with a wide smile, earning a nod from him.
“You read my mind,” he agreed as he started the car again. The duo shared a small, almost tender smile before he drove off. Edith never thought she would like change, but it seemed that Michael was an exception.

Can A.I. Help Casinos Cut Down on Problem Gambling?
Tumblr media
Two or three years earlier, Alan Feldman wandered onto the show floor at ICE London, a critical event in the gaming industry.  카지노사이트
Mr Feldman had spent the past 30 years as a pioneer with MGM Resorts International, focusing in on issue wagering and the financial, individual and master repercussions. Before his departure from the association, he helped structure a crosscountry reliable wagering with programing that focused in on helping players with moving their practices to lessen the bet of becoming issue card sharks.
While on the floor at ICE, he saw several associations progressing new things that would use man-made thinking to recognize issue wagering, but predict it. Mr Feldman was immediately distrustful. A.I., he thought, could do a huge load of things, yet he had never had some significant awareness of a use that expected a point of view.
A.I. as a solution for issue wagering "raised certainly a more noteworthy number of issues than it did answers," said Mr. Feldman, as of now a perceived person in careful wagering at the International Gaming Institute at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. "It was smooth, it was fascinating, it was persuading intellectually. In any case, whether or not it was really going to do anything, I thought, especially remained at question."
Another request, this one clear to any observer: Isn't an issue card shark the very thing a club needs financially? In short: no. Regardless, setting to the side regulatory issues - wagering executives can be fined or lose their licenses expecting they disregard to screen issue wagering and act when essential - it is, unusually, not in their best financial interest.
"Betting clubs need to have clients to help themselves," Mr. Feldman said. "Besides, the most ideal way to have clients is to have clients who themselves are strong and prospering and prepared to deal with their bills and return the accompanying time." Problem examiners "reliably end the same way," he added. "The place to pause is unequivocally something very similar with all of them: They have no money."
In a more wide sense, the mixing of A.I. in addition, wagering has all the earmarks of being genuine: boundless and reliable data; route; modernized systems. With the impact of web gaming, the opportunities to saddle this mix for a public respectable have all the earmarks of being endless. Reality - unraveling human direct, investigating assurance guidelines, settling managerial issues - is essentially more tangled.
While Mr. Feldman was investigating those logical game plans, Danish experts were endeavoring to deal with comparative issues. Mindway AI, an association that grew out of Aarhus University, does the very thing Mr. Feldman felt somewhat unsure of: It predicts future issue wagering. Collected using research at Aarhus University by its creator, Kim Mouridsen, the association uses clinicians to plan A.I. computations in distinctive practices related with issue wagering.  바카라사이트
One immense test is that there is no sole indication of whether someone is an issue card shark, said Rasmus Kjærgaard, Mindway's CEO. Besides, at most club, human area of issue wagering spotlights on several factors - by and large money contributed and energy played. Mindway's structure thinks about 14 extraordinary risks. Those integrate money and time yet also dropped bank withdrawals, changes in the hour of day the player is playing and erratic changes of wagers. Every part is given a score from 1 to 100, and the A.I. then, works out a bet evaluation of each and every player, chipping away at itself with each hand of poker or touch of the roulette wheel. Players are scored from green (you're doing fine) to blood red (immediately pull back from the game).
To fit the estimation to another club or online manager, Mindway surrenders its data to a get-together of subject matter experts and advisors arranged in perceiving such direct. (The association said they were free, paid specialists.) They assess each client's clients and use that model as a sort of measure. The estimation then, rehashes its decision to the full client informational collection.
"At the point when a player profile or player direct goes from green to yellow and to various walks as well, we can put everything in order," Mr. Kjærgaard said. The value in the program isn't actually recognizing those red issue theorists; by noticing the jumps along Mindway's concealing reach, it predicts and gets players as their play returns. At this point, he said, club and online chairmen focus on the dull red examiners; with Mindway they can perceive the players before they anytime show up by then.
The trickiest development, nonetheless, as shown by Brett Abarbanel, supervisor of investigation at U.n.l.v's. Global Gaming Institute, is taking that data and uncovering it to a player.
"Expecting my estimation flags someone, and it feels that they're an issue player, I won't send them a note and make proper acquaintance, 'phenomenal news, my computation has remembered you as perhaps an issue theorist. You ought to stop wagering right away!'" The response would be undeniable, Dr. Abarbanel said, sending a middle finger: "That will happen."
Bit by bit directions to truly give that information - and what to tell the player - is a nonstop conversation. Some online gaming associations go through pop illuminating; others use messages or messages. Mr Kjærgaard believes that clients take his data and, dependent upon the level of peril, interface with the player straight by phone; the unequivocality of the data, he said, alters such calls.
Since starting in 2018, Mindway has gotten its organizations to seven Danish heads, two each in Germany and the Netherlands, one overall overseer and a U.S. sports-wagering head, Mr. Kjærgaard said. The electronic wagering beasts Flutter Entertainment and Entain have both united along with Mindway as well, according to the associations' yearly reports.
Since this development is so new and there's no managerial body setting a standard, Mindway and near associations are, until additional notification, essentially isolated. "We expected to have the choice to impart to you, to some other individual - heads, obviously - that notwithstanding the way that we give this intelligent based programming, yet we also need to have a third assembling to test the endorsement of what we do," Mr. Kjærgaard said. "However, a problem there's no specific requirements which I can demand that my gathering fulfill."
As of now, Mindway's development lives commonly in web wagering. Managers associate Mindway's GameScanner system to their entry, and it separates individual risks, yet hard and fast bets for the structure. Applying that level of oversight to in-person wagering is considerably more inconvenient.
One representation of an extent of accomplishment can be found in Macau. Club directors there use hidden away cameras and facial-affirmation development to follow players' betting behavior, as well as poker chips enabled with radio-repeat recognizing verification advancement and sensors on baccarat tables. This data then, heads to a central informational collection where a player's show is followed and checked for interplayer interest.
This, Mr. Kjærgaard said, is what's to come: The money related persuading powers will drive accomplishment. "Splendid tables" and attempts to address tax avoidance and money related rules may eventually give the data that will supercharge the use of A.I. to in-person wagering.
(It similarly includes another difficulty in applying A.I. to wagering: social differentiations. In Chinese betting clubs, Dr. Abarbanel said, the players are used to this level of noticing; not so in the United States.)
A.I. would irrefutably work for club when it came to displaying, headways and game-thought, Mr. Feldman expressed, but disregarding progress recently, he has waiting questions of its use to assist with giving card sharks. The utilization of such a gadget may be preferable used entirely over broadly, he acknowledges, comparable as the "Your spending is 25% higher than the prior month" refreshes that spring up in electronic monetary records.  온라인카지노

Can we think without using language?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Humans have been expressing thoughts with language for tens (or perhaps hundreds) of thousands of years. It’s a hallmark of our species — so much so that scientists once speculated that the capacity for language was the key difference between us and other animals. And we’ve been wondering about each other’s thoughts for as long as we could talk about them.
“The ‘penny for your thoughts’ kind of question is, I think, as old as humanity,” Russell Hurlburt, a research psychologist at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas who studies how people formulate thoughts, told Live Science. But how do scientists study the relationship between thought and language? And is it possible to think without words?
The answer, surprisingly, is yes, several decades of research has found. Hurlburt’s studies, for instance, have shown that some people do not have an inner monologue — meaning they don’t talk to themselves in their heads, Live Science previously reported. And other research shows that people don’t use the language regions of their brain when working on wordless logic problems.
For decades, however, scientists thought the answer was no — that intelligent thought was intertwined with our ability to form sentences.
“One prominent claim is that language basically came about to allow us to think more complex thoughts,” Evelina Fedorenko, a neuroscientist and researcher at MIT’s McGovern Institute, told Live Science. This idea was championed by legendary linguists like Noam Chomsky and Jerry Fodor in the mid-20th century, but it has begun to fall out of favor in more recent years, Scientific American (opens in new tab) reported.
New evidence has prompted researchers to reconsider their old assumptions about how we think and what role language plays in the process.
“Unsymbolized thinking” is a type of cognitive process that occurs without the use of words. Hurlburt and a colleague coined the term in 2008 in the journal Consciousness and Cognition, after conducting decades of research to verify that it was a real phenomenon, Hurlburt said.
Studying language and cognition is notoriously difficult, partly because it’s really hard to describe. “People use the same words to describe very different inner experiences,” Hurlburt said. For example, someone might use similar words to recount a visual thought about a parade of pink elephants as they would to describe their non-visual, pink elephant-centric inner monologue.
Another issue is that it can be tough to recognize language-free thought in the first place. “Most people don’t know that they engage in unsymbolized thinking,” Hurlburt said, “even people who engage in it frequently.”
And because people are so trapped in our own thoughts and can’t directly access the minds of others, it can be tempting to assume that the thought processes that go on inside our own heads are universal.
However, some labs, like Fedorenko’s, are developing better ways to observe and measure the connection between language and thought. Modern technologies like functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and microscopy give researchers a pretty good picture of which parts of the human brain correspond to different functions; for example, scientists now know that the cerebellum controls balance and posture, while the occipital lobe handles most visual processing. And within these broader lobes, neuroscientists have been able to approximate and map more specific functional regions associated with things like long-term memory, spatial reasoning and speech.
Fedorenko’s research takes such brain maps into account and adds an active component.
“If language is critical for reasoning, then there should be some overlap in neural resources when you engage in reasoning,” she hypothesized. In other words, if language is essential for thinking, brain regions associated with language processing should light up whenever someone uses logic to figure out a problem.
To test this claim, she and her team conducted a study in which they gave participants a word-free logic problem to solve, such as a sudoku puzzle or a bit of algebra. Then, the researchers scanned these folks’ brains using an fMRI machine as they worked out the puzzle. The researchers found that the regions of the participants’ brains associated with language did not light up as they solved the problems; in other words, they were reasoning without words.
Research like Fedorenko’s, Hurlburt’s and others show that language is not essential for human cognition, which is a particularly important finding for understanding certain neurological conditions, such as aphasia. “You can kind of take away the language system, and a lot of the reasoning can proceed just fine,” Fedorenko said. However, “that’s not to say that it wouldn’t be easier with language,” she noted.

D: dream in your AU...oh no
does he know that sam has been imprisoned in las nevadas? or does he think that sam betrayed him to quackity? when giving up the book, how much did he consider the possibility of sam giving the book to quackity as well as the likelihood that sam would kill him once the one thing keeping him alive was in sam's hands? and does sam know about dream's death?
// dsmp rp
Dream knows that handing over the book is essentially suicide. He’s accepted it. He’s given up. It’s always possible that Sam would let him live in the prison, like he so often promised, but the agreement is mainly just that Quackity won’t return. Which—yeah, it stings more than it should. Dream didn’t really think he could feel any more betrayed by Sam. He guesses it’s just another thing he got wrong.
When Quackity comes to take his life, he tells Dream that Sam shared the book with him. It’s another punch in the gut—but maybe it’s Dream’s fault, for assuming Sam had any common sense. The implications are terrifying; the world won’t be the same after this, and there’s nothing Dream can do to fix it. He assumes the absolute worst about Quackity’s intentions. At the same time, though, it’s at least comforting to think that Punz might be safer now. Less of a target.
Dream has no idea about Sam’s imprisonment. To be honest, he’s trying not to think about Sam at all. As far as he’s concerned, it was Sam who let Quackity back in to kill him. In the same vein, Sam knows nothing about Dream’s death—or about the book, or Las Nevadas, or Quackity. No one visits to tell him these things. Barely anyone even knows where he is. Quackity considers it, sometimes—but part of him feels too ashamed to look him in the eye.

A bunch of head cannons (Maybe too much). Also in talking about the characters.
I think Dream is that one design where his skin is just the static tv screen. He just constantly emits that fuzzy noise, Sam crafted him the smile mask that he can see through so he doesn't scare people.
George is just kind of the server itself. He's the same species as Hannah, but a mushroom and more powerful. If he stays awake too long, the server just kind of freezes. This is also a reason XD keeps him sleeping, it's his way of talking to George and he thinks the server is like his soap opera of mortals.
Callahan is sort of like the person who makes sure George doesn't get killed or dies while asleep, making sure he's surrounded by mushrooms and such. Deer hybrid <3
Alyssa joined the server because she knew all her friends were idiots and didn't want them to die immediately. But once the elections rolled around, she felt the pressure of choosing sides and ran away to the desert, only keeping contact with Ponk. She actually lives just a couple miles from Foolish's summer home. Her communicator actually died after a couple months and she had no way of charging it, so she lost contact with everyone.
Sapnap is a magma cube hybrid and can jump higher than most, his natural temperature runs hotter, and is fire proof. Bad found him in the nether when he was maybe 10-15 years old.
Sam was actually a normal creeper, but gained player like sentience from being struck by lightning. Instead of becoming charged, he gained intelligence and met the others on the server. Callahan taught him some Redstone, but from there he figured out a lot on his own. He's also a creeper centaur.
Ponk is actually a descendant of a fairy, a lemon tree. Their mask was also a gift from Sam because after the second or third time their tree was burnt, their immune system was weakened a considerable amount. Alyssa also wore her mask for them.
Bad is a size shifting demon from the nether, more specifically soul sand desert. He uses soul fire to gain strength, so because the egg died when near it, he was just a little weaker than normal. Because he's a demon he needs a tie to the overworld to stay there, he tied his soul and lives to Skeppy.
Tommy was grown in a lab to be a hero, project: THESEUS. The lab gave him small enhancements, like slightly stronger and just a bit more resilient, to make the Above Average Boy (TM). He then ran away to meet Wilbur. When Dream asked Wilbur if he wanted to come to the server, he asked if Tommy could go first to see what it was like. He also actually really likes gardening and making up funny songs to Wilbur playing guitar. He also made funny lyrics for his discs, but he's still a bit scared to take them out of his ender chest. Other than bringing attachment, Dream also exiled Tommy to see what his lab enhancements could do.
Tubbo is an adaptive hybrid! His hair was blond, shifting to brown when Wilbur found him, getting blue eyes from Tommy, growing small horns under Schlatt, parts of his skin being static when Dream was "helping" him with his presidency, and parts of his scars tinging black and green from Ranboo and Micheal. Tubbo also helped Wilbur write part of the anthem. He likes living in the snow because the Manberg flag had magma blocks on it, casting a heatwave over the country, and after L'Manburg blew up it got really hot from the exposed stone in direct sun.
Fundy can actually hold his breath for a very long time and swim very well because of Sally teaching him and his salmon genes. The yellow things on his hat are actually shells, and the stripes on his jacket are trans colors. Also with his dreams, he saw Eret was going to betray them but didn't think it was real, or didn't want to. He also saw Wilbur blow up L'Manburg but chose not to believe it, thinking his father could still be saved. He actually saw pretty much everything, but didn't quite understand what they were until after doomsday.
The necklace Punz wears is one of those picture lockets, but he lost the picture and can't remember what it was. The first time Dream paid him was when Dream asked for help and Punz made an off hand joke about getting money, and then Dream thought he was being serious. Him, Dream, and Sapnap were like brothers, and Punz got sadder every time he saw Dream pushing people away and diving deeper into darkness.
Purpled is an aliensent to see if the planet was colonizable, but then crashed and was stranded, all his communications down and his ship barely able to hover fifty feet off the ground. When Quackity blew it up, he essentially got rid of his chance of ever going home. Purpled's species can shapeshift, so he turned himself into the first person he saw, Punz. Eventually before trying to communicate with the native life forms, he edited his form a little so they weren't identical, keeping purple eyes and antennae, changing the colors slightly, and changing the voice up. When he moves away from the main SMP, Ponk makes sure to check up on him and that he has a way to check his communicator.
Wilbur came a month after sending Tommy. His father being a patron of life and his mother the goddess of death, he met in the middle being born as a human. The only reason Ghostbur was as active and present as he was was because he was so connected to both life and death. Since his corpse was decaying for as long as it was, Wilbur is now super weak, his flesh is thin and his eyes are rotted and gone. Much like Ghostbur, Wilbur in limbo saw what people said about him, and Ghostbur could hear that from the back of his head. Now Wilbur can hear what people say about Ghostbur and he hates it, not wanting to be connected to what he thinks like a shell of himself.
Schlatt is a ram (duh) and actually does the fainting goat thing. So when he died of a heart attack, no one knew at first if he was actually dead or not. His alcoholism stems from the revive book, as the possibility of tampering with death made him existential and scared, so to cope he drank. There are also a ton of other stuff other than revival in the book, but it's in galactic.
Skeppy was just a normal human, but after making the pact with Bad, Bad put a spell on him. Parts of him turned into diamond, protecting both his and Bad's lives. He however, is unaware of this. With the egg, he would just sit on it, the diamonds chipping away to make room for the vines.
Eret was cursed by the Wither Cult, giving them white eyes and a slowly deteriorating memory. Not sure what to do, Foolish dropped them off at the SMP. Sometimes they would dream about old memories from before the curse, but it was just glimpses so he could never tell what they meant. Once they were king, they made the Herobrine shrine subconsciously, not really sure what it was after. They also had a strange affinity of beacons and resurrection, some of their memories resurfacing when they tried to help Phil and Ghostbur revive Wilbur after doomsday. The reason people are more scared of their eyes than any other wierd eyes was because he generally looks like a normal human, but the wither along with their Herobrine origins creates an uncanny valley that people are shocked by.
Jack had red and blue irises before crawling out of hell, but after coming back the whites of his eyes also turned red and blue. He always wears 3d glasses so no one noticed, but he just thought no one cared enough to mention it. He also has a bunch of scars and burn marks that no one but him can see, therefore no one asks about them or thinks something is wrong, cementing the idea that no one cares about him.
Niki is a blaze hybrid (stole this from @/420technoblazeit) whose fire hair color changes based on strong emotion, something she bond with Tubbo for as a fellow shifter. A soft yellow in L'Manburg, brighter orange in Manburg, hot pink on Doomsday, a soul fire blue with the syndicate (which Techno hates), and a dead grey when she found out Wilbur was alive. She was also old child hood friends with Ranboo and Eret, leaving Ranboo for the SMP. Ranboo, unfortunatly, doesn't remember much more than her name. She also knows galactic from Ranboo, so she talks about her troubles to Shy the Enderman. She doesn't really know how to talk to Puffy anymore after Doomsday or finding out how she wants to protect Tommy.
Quackity can perfectly replicate someone's voice and, with a lot of effort, can completely change his form to another player. He also has very small yellow wings, too small to fly, so he almost always hides them. He used to constantly change his voice for jokes with Karl, Sapnap, and George, but he doesn't like doing it now in Las Nevadas, as he sees it as unprofessional. However, sometimes he uses when he visits Dream, changing his voice to people like George and Sapnap to make torture more effective.
In the In Between and Other Side, Karl actually looks like his old skin, or his natural state (the big purple one that inspired his sweater). But most of the time in the normal world, he looks human. With effort he can bring out the interdemential being thing, something only Quackity and Sapnap know about. The more he time travels, the easier it becomes to change, and he's even started defaulting to the other form.
HBomb is actually just a normal news reporter, sent to interview and record what's going on in the server, his first big story being the election. Upon Doomsday, the stress of seeing everyone alone, fighting, and disconnected, he ran away from the world, essentially becoming a cat lady. His undercover reporter persona is actually the cat maid. He eventually came back to the server to see how he could help after Doomsday, befriending Niki again and living with her in the underground city.
Techno is a piglin, so he's scared of soul fire. He forgot to tell Phil before he decorated the syndicate room, so he just suffers in silence. He also does better when around a lot of gold, like in the nether, and he feels drained and slightly weaker without it. Instead of just putting gold around the area (it would ruin his property value), he just hibernates. He has an emerald earing, like all of the syndicate, but his is a locket that unfolds into pictures of the syndicate.
Ant always wears a red hoodie, now ruined by the egg, that used to be Red's. On Red's death anniversary, him, Bad, Skeppy, and Sam would make cake and put flowers on his grave. He missed the last one because it was during the egg, but for a brief moment after Puffy killed him he saw Red. Red then promptly and bluntly told him to stop being a pussy (haha, cat) and that he shouldn't do all this just to get him back, one of Ant's motivators to make amends with the people he hurt while with the egg. Ant is also a shapeshifter, but can only turn into a cat.
Phil actually used to work under Foolish as a patron of life but then he had a son with the goddess of death, so his title was removed so he could be with her and he became an Angel of Death. Kristin noticed how sad he was after being released, so she gifted him wings. They were however, destroyed on November 16th. His chat also serves as messenger pigeons, which were used to send letters to Wilbur.
Connor is actually just a hedgehog who somehow befriended Schlatt. Even before the haunted mansion, Karl vented to him about his time travel troubles, not knowing he was a sentient player. As a hedgehog, no one really cares where he goes, so he goes outside the server limits to meet his friends from the haunted mansion.
Puffy is a distant relative of Schlatt, but instead of politics she went into piracy. With her mom, she went travelling the seas. One say, a storm came and wiped out her ship, her crew, her mom, everything but her. The reason she survived was because Foolish saw her and saved her. Unfortunately, Puffy hit hee head in the crash and doesn't remember anything.
Vikkstar is the equivalent of a big time celebrity, so of course his endorsement of POG2020 was a big deal.
Lazarbeam is literally just a ginger bread cookie.
Ranboo has actually met a lot of the smp before actually joining. He's met Niki, Fundy, Eret, Punz, and Dream at least. He also sees the inverted colors Enderman see. His suit was actually a gift from Eret before they forgot how to tailor. He got the crown from Techno after joining the syndicate, claiming he didn't want any syndicate members to look like trash.
Foolish came to the server most recently to check up on Eret, but he couldn't bring himself to leave again. When Puffy adopts him, he can't say no because he remembers saving her. His initial goal was to kill an ender dragon to claim the XD title and become a full god like DreamXD, but after realising someone already killed it he went into his totem if death phase. Upon meeting Eret, he got over it and they went on some silly adventures, Foolish now taking a more peaceful route.
Hannah is essentially a weaker George, as her power is tied to the plants themselves and not the entire server. She however has a lot more physical power because rose dryads like to fight because they have thorns. Since roses can be taken out a lot easier, she is essentially a glass canon. Also when around any plant, she can make it grow faster than normal.
Any guest on the server? Corpse, Pokimane, Lil Nas? They were all Slimecicle. That's how he knows where everyone is from, even outside of Las Nevadas. No one else knows this. He's also ancient, if he met Phil they would probably recognise eachother. There was an actual Charlie Slimecicle who was not a slime, but after being launched into orbit this Slimecicle decided to impersonate him.
Michael Mcchill is a sort of bounty hunter. He came to the server after hearing of all the crime, assuming there'd be a lot of bounties to collect. However, he soon learned that no one really cares if you commit a crime. He then took to reading news articles made by HBomb to see if there were any past open bounties. But after reading for a while about the server's wronguns, mostly Dream, he began to sympathise with them. And he's also a speedrunner, so maybe he could help with some bounties across other servers!
This was a very long post and i apologize, but it was so fun to finally write all these thoughts down! I hope you liked them! I can't even fit all the tags I want.

Hi! I'm an aspiring tnt duo author ahahaha who takes a lot of inspo from your fics and just like a lot of your vibe in general- do you have any tips on how to write tnt duo? Or just how to write as well as you ofc :DD
Hello!
Alright, so I tried to really think this one through, to actually give you something that might help, and for the longest time I had nothing, so I really hope this will help.
See, what personally helps me write them, is that in BDSM (this won't get full on sexual, dw) you have this concept of a brat. Essentially that’s a submissive person, who will constantly try to challenge and test their dominant - they try to tease and catch them off guard, just to get said person to put them back in their place.
That's how I read Wilbur's character (in general not just in bed).
Every time he's in power, he subconsciously sabotages it. He wants things to go his way, but at the same time he doesn't.
It works especially because brats are frequently misinterpreted, as just being bitchy, and not being actual subs, which isn't the case. That relates to Wilbur perfectly, in my opinion, seeing how clearly dissatisfied he is with how people treat him - run from him, listen to every word he says, ect. And yet he doesn't want that, even if that's how it seems.
But Quackity isn't like that.
Quackity doesn't bend to his will, he challenges Wilbur. He calls him out on his bullshit, holds him accountable. When everyone replies to Wilbur's shenanigans with fear and compliance, Quackity isn't afraid to metaphorically (or literally) grab him by the throat, and put him back in his place.
And that's what Wilbur wants, needs even. Like the content creator himself said, Quackity keeps Wilbur running. The opposition and defiance he gets from Quackity is enticing, irresistible even.
And that's how I write them.
No matter how many times Quackity throws Wilbur out of las Nevadas, in the end it'll only make him come back even more eagerly. The man has never had anyone else tell him no, and it shows.
And he wants Quackity to to say no to him. Because just as with the burger van, he doesn't actually want what he publicly claims he does. It's all just for show.
And Quackity understands that.
Notice, how he himself is clearly invested in their petty little dynamic.
He could get rid of Wilbur easily, he has the people and resources to do it.
But he doesn't.
Because it's fun.
Quackity understands the little game Wilbur's playing, and he eagerly participates. He's always one step ahead. Always keeping his composure. Always driving Wilbur mad, wanting more.
If it takes two to tango, then Wilbur is constantly trying to step on Quackity's feet, just for Quackity to dip him every time right before he can do so.
They both know what they want from each other, and what the other wants from them; they're willing to play that petty little game of pretend.
One other thing that is also incredibly important is trust. Those two are enemies, yes, but they respect and trust each other.
They've known one another for far too long, and have been far too vulnerable to just forget about it. They will both tease, destroy, lie, fight, but if either one of them were in need, they know the other will help them.
Ok I really hope this helps, because I genuinely have no idea how else I could reply.
Regarding writing, I really don't know what to say aside write what you want to read.
Losing Face is my first fic ever, and I started writing it 1. because I had fun writing, and 2. because I wanted to see more fics of those two in a BDSM context, that wasn't encroaching on the non-con territory with dubious consent, or unrealistic scenes, or things that just aren't BDSM at all, just a bit rough. I started it for myself, I wrote first 3 chapters in advance, and sent it just to my significant other, so that we can both enjoy it. Only then did I start taking it seriously, and posting it.
The reason why I'm so set on BDSM with these two is again - dynamic, and the trust they have in each other, but that's a rant for another day.
If you need me to clarify anything, please ask away

바카라사이트
온라인카지노

okay but, with the egg once again back in the picture, and seemingly more resistant and possibly powerful than ever (and probably very, very angry)
i think it’s set up almost perfect for it to get involved with some people it hadn’t before.
namely wilbur, but for the same reasons i give to wilbur, i can see it also apply to various members of las nevadas.
the egg preys on people who want something. the egg takes advantage of their wants and fears and offers them everything in return for people to do it's biding and to give in to it's influence. in turn, the egg doesn’t really give anything. it gives false promises. it essentially doesn’t hurt it’s followers directly, or at least, it hasn’t yet.
in the case of bad, the egg offered him skeppy. in the case of ant, the egg offered him something to do with a past lover who is either dead or mia (implied to be red velvet). in the case of ponk and hannah, they didn’t have anywhere really to turn to (in hannah’s case, she was also locked inside the egg for a long long time and forced under its influence) in the case of punz, it seems to have been riches.
whatever the case, none of the followers of the egg got what they wanted, and the egg took more from them. it took away their relationships and health and ruined their mental psyche and many other things.
since the red banquet, the eggheads have since escaped the egg’s influence, and many have voiced deep regret for their actions.
the egg is festering. it’s more powerful than it ever has been. it’s not spreading on the surface, but the entire banquet room is impervious to explosions, and the egg harms a person worth half their health if any of these blocks are broken by hand- this includes tommy now (who before had been completely immune to this).
the last time it’s grown and done such a thing, bad things follow after. things get worse.
it currently has no followers that we know of- however there are quite a few candidates on the server who fit the egg’s target demographic. desperate, in need of something, and willing to do whatever to get it.
wilbur. wilbur fits this bill perfectly. he wants nothing more than to be treated like human again, to be treated like a normal person. he wants nothing more than a fresh restart. the egg need only whisper it’s promises of a world where everyone respects him, where they don’t fear him, and in return he works for the egg.
most of las nevadas also fit this bill- they have desperate wants, i mean it’s almost the entire reason they’re in nevadas in the first place. quackity has taken things away from them or pointed things out to them which makes it obvious how desperate they want things.
purpled wants to leave something behind. fundy wants family and friends, as well as to have a normal and happy life. foolish doesn’t want things to feel empty. even quackity himself- he not only wants power and money and safety of his nation (but he also wants people too, particularly his fiances which he’s referened he misses quite deeply).
they are perfect for the egg’s next following. most in nevadas however have experience with the egg and know to stay far, far away from it.
wilbur though...wilbur knows nothing of the egg. he’s never seen what it left behind. he never saw it’s influence on people. he never saw how it made tubbo cry or how it changed nice people like bad and ant for the worst. he doesn’t know it’s bad, he doesn’t know what it can do.
the egg can offer him everything he wants, and with how desperate he’s been lately, how could he not refuse? sure, he doesn’t trust easy...but what is trust when you so badly just want to be treated human? besides, how would he know any better?
and how fitting is it that he doesn’t want to make the wrong step, the wrong decision. he doesn’t want to be viewed as a villain and he fears him slipping up and being seen as such.
well, he wouldn’t know a step into the egg’s clutches would be that bad, and with how the egg works, he’d be blind to seeing how bad it is once he’s under it’s influence...and we know that wilbur can be dangerous. he has the ability to be dangerous, even if he doesn’t want to be.
this sets up conflict, a huge conflict, but just as much as it does, it leaves a huge opening for the beginning of wilbur being able to ‘prove’ himself.
this idea and potential has infinite directions it could go, but hypothetically if he does avoid the grasp of the egg. what better a way to prove himself but fighting against the egg? or, is it proof enough to resist the egg’s promises and to fight temptation?
if he does fall under influence, him breaking free could be a proof of strength and willpower. being under the egg’s influence and false reality may also be a way to show him that there are people around him who don’t fear him, who already treats him well and human, and that maybe they’re all he needs.
i’m just saying that wilbur is highly supceptable to the egg and this could get interesting, especially since most people around him are also involved with the egg.
ranboo and tommy are immune to the egg’s influence, it seems, and feel no emotion around it (according to the eggheads, that’s the most dangerous).
tubbo is so sensitive to the egg that being near it causes him to see horrors which leaves him a sobbing mess, almost unable to move.
quackity is largely against the egg and has even been one to put a stop to it in the past.
