Me just over here wondering to myself I wonder what would happen if my lalafell warrior of light met the links from Linked universe....
Chaos insued:
First thought on my mind is size. My "this is the tallest I can make for his race" lalafell is probably four size. I can only wonder at them seeing someone older than four who is still four's size. It would really put into perspective his shortness.
Second thought: If my wol dance partnered four and then four used the four sword to split, what would happen? I've determined that that 2 minute buff window would become more like an 8 minute buff window. But also what if the dance partner attribute almost keeps four from splitting as if the ability doesn't want to have more than one user and will keep you from that to the best of it's ability.
Third thought: Time and legend looking at the dark Knight lore as if the dark Knight power source makes the most sense and in some way they want it.
Fourth thought: Everyone freaks out when Scholar!wol summons Eos or Selene. You cannot tell me that all of them wouldn't be somewhat concerned by a fairy appearing out of nowhere from someone not of their world. They then become very concerned when it's revealed where we place our fairies in battle. (Death comes to any who place a fairy under the boss while with the chain)
Fifth thought: Hyrule and a wol vibing together from having friends who were "sleeping" for hundreds of years.
Sixth thought: wild and the wol vibing over exploring new places.
Seventh thought: I wonder what would happen if you just let the chain fuck around with your soul crystals(changes your job in FFXIV).
Addendum kinda wanna give fun and interesting classes to them all. This is less about their abilities and more about the chain having fun.
Legend- Red mage: legend should absolutely be given the right to both sword and magic. He would also look perfect in the red mage's armor.
On the other hand a black mage who refuses to use thunder is hilarious. Everyone else in a dungeon gets pissed off legend won't use his dot.
Hyrule: Blue mage- Chaos time! Let Hyrule both heal and cause massive damage. Also, why wouldn't I give him the job that requires you to learn spells from monsters. It's probably where he learned most of his skills from.
Twilight: monk- kinda boring but his fists are rated teen for violence. Beast master: we don't have this job yet but it is coming so that could be my second option. Would friend every animal and then be confused when they have violence in their eyes when anything tries to attack him.
Time: Dark knight: this man would absolutely use his trauma to become better at saving people. Am I wrong????
Warriors: Paladin- but let's make it fun and make him self sacrifice by having him always use cover (takes 100% of damage from a chosen party member) on his party members...even when they are already using their own shields.
Sky: Warrior- I never wanna see this man pissed off. On a more vibe aspect: Bard- just let him play his harp till the enemies stop coming.
Wind: Ninja- shut up, I know he's pirate themed and I should give him a gun but who else but wind could have a bunny of "you missed up your mudras" and make that look cool. Plus I wanna let him go fast.( Ninja's have the highest speed.)
Wild: Blue mage: Again, the monsters taught him how to fight after waking up again. Second option: Gunbreaker- fusing. Enough said. (Gunbreaker also has the highest damage ceiling of all tanks. Of course I'm giving one of the best dpsing tanks to the link who takes on lynels for fun.)
Four: machinist- no one else fits the machinist's goal of creating new and better weaponry than four. All of the different mechanisms you use to fight as a machinist just fit fours need to build and create.
Addendum for colors:
Green: viper- wanted to give him a sword plus it looks fairly swooshy from the trailer (secondary option dragoon: let my second wimdy boi fly with those jumps)
Red: black mage- fire only. Everyone keeps telling him to use ice but he refuses especially when playing with blue. Second option: Pictomancy! - let red draw his way to victory.
Blue: Warrior- he deserves to have a big axe and this way he can use his anger to help bolster his damage.
Vio: Bard- but not your stereotypical bard no, Vio is singing or reciting old takes of wars and myths. He'll use all the darkest old tales to win a fight.
(Shadow[I just wanna give him a pretty weapon.]: Dark knight: emotionally he fits it very well but Reaper: a play style that has the coolest movement ability and lots of cool effects. He likes acting like he's actually death coming for people.
Kinda wanna do all the Zelda's......)
Either thought: if the chain played FFXIV what would happen? Legend would get every class as soon as he could and then level them all to Max first. He's also on the grind to get every single achievement. May his soul rest in peace.
Sky would spend so much time crafting. Main quest? No. Side quest? No. Carpentry class quest? Yes. (He also is one of those players who stands in one of the city states and plays music for others.)
Time and twilight have their fishing class at mat lvl and regularly do ocean fishing to relax.
Wild does ultimates for fun. He also has the best glams (don't tell wars) out of the chain.
Hyrule has all of the sight seeing locations done for every expansion. He likes to go and get lost in the new locations of every expansion. It takes him at least a week longer than everyone else to finish the main content due to this.
Four: most recent crafting recipes and island sanctuary (he's here to make cool shit and relax) I could see him also enjoying the tribal quests as well.
Warrior: the most mentor to mentor out of all mentors. He does the mentor roulette for fun the poor bastard.
Wind: rps with his friends. They have a rp going on in Limsa about a land flooded by the gods.
(I think that's all of my FFXIV x Linked universe hyperfixation, for now at least. CX

The Daily Inconveniences of an Au Ra: Beds
Tumblr media
Keshet was halfway convince that Eorzean beds were actually Au Ra torture devices. He twisted, trying to find a position that even remotely resembled comfort, before giving up with a heavy sigh. It promised to be another long night, and he was sure to wake up with a half dozen kinks in his muscles in the morning. He swore he ended up more sore from sleeping in these damned beds than from all the battles he fought daily.
The hard mattress meant he couldn't sleep on his back, because the spikes on his tail either dug into the bed and ruined it if it was soft enough, or else drove themselves back in his flesh in a screaming fit of pain if it was more solid. Of course, laying on your tail was not comfortable at the best of times, so even if he didn't care about the state of the bed when he was done with it, sleeping on his back was still most uncomfortable.
Yet he couldn't sleep on his side either, as he'd seen other races do, because of his horns. Even if he could somehow balance his head on the rounded edge of one, the reverberations of the pillow against it as he shifted in the night would keep him awake. Which was to say nothing of the horrible angle his neck would have to be at to facilitate such a position. Sleeping suspended from the ceiling was likely to be less painful than that.
He encountered a very similar problem if he tried to sleep on his stomach. The jut of his horns drove into the pillow, piercing through and preventing him from pressing his face into it -- and he was still left with a kink in his neck from the extra length.
So no, unless he were to suddenly become a master contortionist, there was no comfortable way to sleep in an Eorzean bed. And that wasn't even taking into account the fact that unless he was in a region with a high enough Roegadyn population, his feet were like to hang off the end, sometimes all the way up to his knees. Perhaps he should just be grateful that no city in Eorzea catered particularly to Lalafell.
Groaning in displeasure, he finally gave up trying to find a comfortable position and just dragged the blanket and pillow from the mattress, wrapping himself in the in his best approximation of a Steppe bed. There wasn't enough fabric to make a decent nest, but if he sat mostly upright and leaned against the wall, at least he wouldn't be awoken every ten minutes by sharp pains shooting down his spine. Hoping he wouldn't wake up sore but knowing better, he shut his eyes and tried desperately not to think of the comforts of home.

My introduction to FFXIV
Tumblr media
Hey, after posting the thing about the stress test server a few weeks ago, I got an idea to try and go down the memory lane, trying to recall everything that had happened during the time I've spent playing Final Fantasy XIV. I hope that someone would find my story and experiences interesting. After all, I found out that I enjoyed seeing other people's reactions to the game itself as well.
But in order to tell my story, I have to start somewhere. And I can't find a better way to do so than to tell you how I learnt of the game in the first place.
Not sure when exactly did it start, but I remember my friend mentioning that he was playing FFXIV during Summer this year, I think. I wasn't too interested, after all I had prior experience with MMORPGs like Aion, Tera, Black Desert, ArchAge and even that Digimon Masters Online or whatever was it called, and I didn't go further than level 30 in any of them (which meant I was playing for less than a month or a month and a half at max for Aion (the 2010 version prior to becoming the cash shop simulator with no story) and Digimon Masters). Why was I trying so many MMOs out in the first place? Well, my mom is actually into MMOs herself so I was visiting the titles she was playing as well (minus Digimon Masters) to help her and just find a title I would like, but it never clicked so I thought that maybe I wasn't into online gaming in the first place.
So when I heard that my friend was playing an MMORPG that was also a part of a franchise I didn't know much about, I kinda wanted to join... but I hesitated, knowing that it would probably end the same way as it did for five other titles I've listed above.
Fast-forward to the beginning of September 2023, September 2nd to be presice, when I saw some hentai-loving douche from a Russian Megaman Discord server saying how much the old gaming and MMOs sucked in comparison to perverted gachas he was playing with and how the critically-acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV was actually trash. Needless to say, the guy was banned for posting hentai there. But either way, what he said about FFXIV was actually a good advertisement for the game so I remembered what my friend was saying and decided to reach out to him, saying I am willing to give it a shot. I did mention that I might not stay for too long here due to my track record with MMORPGs, but he said it was fine and that I can leave if it doesn't light up the spark in me in a month. He then made a group DM with a friend of his who actually was a person I saw on a different server a few years ago so that was neat.
I made a SquareEnix account that same evening, downloaded the game and then logged into the Free Trial for the first time, getting hit with this game's version of Prelude (even though I wasn't a fan or FF series, I knew the tune) and feeling a sense of tranquility, staying on the screen for a few minutes and continuing to listen to it while fiddling with settings.
Tumblr media
I watched the opening cinematic (it was great but I was wondering if the game even had Japanese voice acting because I like playing games and hearing their original language, be it English, Japanese or something else, just a personal preference) and got to the character creator. I was looking at the races, finding a liking to exactly the three of them -- cat-eared people with furry tails known as Miqo'te, tall and slender horned people named Au Ra and short child-like folk with long ears by the name of Lalafell.
Also I was struggling a lot with trying to read most of the race's names at first. It took me at least a few weeks to memorize them even.
At first, I wanted to make Axl as a cat boy here, thinking that I probably won't stick for long anyway (and I did make him in the game later, I still have his preset saved), but I decided to actually choose the race none of my friends picked up (one was a Miqo'te, other was an Au Ra), so I went for a lalafell and made my boy Pi from ROCKMAN ZERO - Chapter: AXL here to the best of my ability. One of the two friends was certainly really happy I chose a potato according to her messages when I had announced it :D
After getting freaked out by the game asking what my deity was (picked Oschon because Pi has a thing for exploring and learning new stuff about the world), I decided to pick the Healer class, before getting told not to do that because it would make early combat really annoying, and then my friend told me I can go for Arcanist since it would become a Healer class at level 30. Needless to say, I went for the book, then chose the Atomos server because my friends were there (ping wasn't bad here at all, even though everything tends to freeze rarely due to my internet provider screwing me over) and thus had set my eyes towards the seaside jewel of Eorzea -- Limsa Lominsa...
Tumblr media
I didn't know there was a different opening for each of the city-states at that time so I had some flashbacks to ArchAge when my character, Pi Peataan (I REALLY didn't think much while giving the character a name), but then we had actually arrived to the city and... I realized I underestimated my PC with the potato graphics settings I had supposedly set for it. Those bushes took me out of it for a moment.
Tumblr media
So, I arrived to Limsa, fixed the graphics, met Baderon Tenfingers (still giggling at that name), took notes that pirate speak is indeed quite hard for me to read quickly, then went to the main plaza with giant aetherite where I was met by my friends, the self-proclaimed 'emo catboy' Miqo'te Summoner/Scholar and an immensely tall black-scaled Auri Dark Knight. They greeted me, which made me feel all shy because before that I've only seen these people as 2D avatars and text messages, and now they could ran around me and kinda interact with me... ahem. One of them added me to the friends list (other couldn't, he was still in Free Trial), and then went their own ways while I had one hour left before the bed to explore the city.
I didn't know yet that you don't need to do yellow quests so i just picked up all the quests that were available in Limsa before proceeding with the main quest. I was getting lost in this giant city A LOT, which was the result of me having what I call "topographical cretinism", but I was... enjoying it. I ended the day without setting a foot outside the starting area, but I was looking forward towards tomorrow to explore some more, drifting to sleep while the main menu theme kept ringing in my head, accompanying me into my dreams...
Hope you enjoyed this entry. I will try to continue this series. I had a lot of fun remembering the details of the first day of FFXIV for me and what was I feeling during it all. Playing through it again with my friends that cannot play FFXIV or don't want to sink so much time into an MMO, and looking through the backlog of messages and screenshots in Discord I left while going through all of that certainly helped to assemble these memories back in a proper order.

Fandom:Final Fantasy XIV
Relationship:
Krile Mayer Baldesion & G'raha Tia | Crystal Exarch
Characters:
Krile Mayer Baldesion (Final Fantasy XIV)
G'raha Tia | Crystal Exarch
Language: English
Words:2,758
Summary: With friends like these, you may yet achieve your destiny
Notes: To stifle any confusion, Raha refers to Krile as "Ruru" due to the character she was inspired from's JPN name being "Kururu." Krile claims at one point that Krile isn't her birth name, so I always speculated it would be something along those lines, as it's closer to a typical Lalafellin name
ao3 link
“The council has decided to decline your summons to Mor Dhona, and furthermore, to mainland Eorzea. We will send word to the Sons of Saint Coinach of your inavailability, and will send our preferred replacement in your stead. That will be all, Archon.”
He shouldn’t have argued, he shouldn’t have spoken out of turn, he should have bitten his tongue while he had the chance, but he never could help it, could he? Who was more fitting for this position than he? What, was he fated to remain on this island forever? Trapped in his studies until he could study no more? It was ridiculous. Everyone knew it was. To decline the archon of Allagan knowledge a chance to unlock the secrets of the unearthed Crystal Tower...he couldn’t understand what was going through old man Baldesion’s head…
The doors to the Council room were pushed open in haste as the flustered miqo’te made his way out, his head bowed low in frustration and embarrassment. How could they be so foolish? Why would they deny him this? These questions and more swam through his head as he otherwise made his way quietly through the halls. He was so lost in thought, he almost forgot he hadn’t come in alone. No matter, he thought to himself. Krile could stay behind and convince them all she could, but they never changed their minds on any decision.
“I assume the storm clouds raining over your head mean they’ve declined your oh so scholarly invitation to the mainland?”
G’raha’s already clenched fists clenched tighter as his ear swiveled in the direction of the voice. He dare not face him, as he knew it to be an insignificant bully. Krile had constantly warned him not to give them a reason to prod at him, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t listen to what he had to say.
The lanky elezen tilted his head in mock sorrow, ears lowering just to annoy the Archon. It was as if he had no respect for him, no sense of manner...but why should he? Sure, he was no expert in the manner of Allag, but he had always envied G’raha’s natural wit and draw to such an ancient and technologically advanced civilization. Why would Baldesion let such an arrogant, closed off fool like him bear the title of Archon when it was others like him who spent years dedicated to their studies to earn it? He cared not of his race’s lifespan or the maturity that came with it, he certainly didn’t show his age...why should he be allowed the maturity or anything that came with it? Why did he matter?
“Mayhap that was why they called me down then. To send me in your stead?” A fake sigh passed his lips, and he stood from the wall he leaned against to inch closer. “And after all those years of waiting too~ I suppose they just...looked right past you and realized how naive you really are.” He was practically breathing down his neck now, beckoning an agitated response. “Tell me, is that truly a royal eye, or is it just as unlucky and gaudy as everyone claims it to be?”
Useless. You’re useless, and everyone knows it.
“That’s quite enough, Master Orlais.” A firm voice spoke from nearby, and the two men turned their heads in sync to spot a rather stern looking lalafell making her way towards them, her expression ever pressed but polite and mature. G’raha could tell just by her stride that she wanted to step on the elezen’s toes. She never  did favor him, but she would always present herself in a good light.
“M-Mistress Krile! I apologize for my procrastination! I shall be on my way to the council immediately! I was simply...passing my regrets to our poor Archon here.” He was quick to apologize, earning an understanding nod from the senior.
“Surely. Well, you had better make haste. The council doesn’t like to be kept waiting.” G’raha could always tell the difference between her sincere voice, and her voice of command. Few could spot the difference, but there was always somewhat of an icier tone she took when disciplining other students. The power that she held despite her stature was one he scarcely dared to genuinely fool with.
They both watched as the flustered elezen bowed in respect, before making his hasty departure back the way they came. Once alone, Krile sighed. It had been quite the evening. She knew her friend’s summons would get declined. She knew how her grandfather thought of him, what he thought of him. He was elusive, but they both knew how reckless and selfless G’raha could be. She knew all of this, and she still gave him the courage to ask, to plead. This was his life’s dream, after all. Perhaps...she had hoped it would convince them all coming from his heart instead of hers. How naive of her it was...
And yet, they stood there, silently, avoiding gazes with admittances on the tips of their tongues. They couldn’t imagine what was going on in either’s head, despite trying to quietly prod. Instead of anything being said, Krile reached to take his hand, leading him down the hall to their dorm. Rarely was anyone found wandering this late, aside from those few who chose to study the stars and the occasional student tending to their nocturnal familiars. After a moment, G’raha felt comfortable enough to speak up.
“I apologize for failing to listen to you.”
Krile stopped, her ponytail swishing abruptly at how quickly she had halted herself. It was quite rare of him to apologize to anyone other than a professor, and even then was he stubborn enough to prove himself right. It had always been one of his vices. So...why now? “Raha, if I had a gil for every time I’ve had to carry you away from someone-“
“No, it’s not that...I…” he tried to put it into words, to tell her that he never should have requested the hearing in the first place, but the truth of the matter was...he had wanted to. Nothing could have stopped him, even if someone tried to change his mind. He couldn’t apologize where he wasn’t truly sorry, and she knew that more than anyone. “Nevermind, I...believe I’m just fatigued after today. Wouldn’t you agree?”
She knew exactly what he meant then, nodding as she let them inside and watching as he half heartedly went over to his desk. His fingers trailed the etched wood until they graced the small scroll she knew detailed the importance about his chosen mission. His eyes fluttered sadly over the ink carefully inscribed into it, as if it were written in a language beyond Eorzean, as if he was trying to understand what it meant. ‘We could think of no one better to accompany us on this expedition,’ How could he not be destined to go? Why was he to remain here? Was he always simply meant to be left behind?
The miqo’te jolted as he caught the ink on the letter running wet down the page, realizing he was staining the scroll with his tears of anger. He was quick to pinch the bridge of his nose, wiping away any collecting there and setting the paper back down before he made himself too obvious. Not that it would matter, Krile was more in tune with emotions than anyone he’d ever known, he often assumed her to be somewhat of an empath at times. He was still mostly convinced of it. Though if she sensed anything at all, she knew it was best to leave him alone. There was no point in trying to coax him out of this one.
Defeatedly, he removed his uniform coat, draping it over his desk chair and sitting on the end of his bed to unbuckle his boots. As he did, his thoughts predictably circled back to the tower. What wonders awaited whoever was lucky enough to crack it open? What would they uncover in the labyrinth leading in? Ancient weapons, too advanced to fathom? Towering golems created to protect and destroy? And the tower itself, oh how he yearned to know what secrets hid themselves inside, secrets he might never discover, only fit to hear about it as everyone else uncovered what was fit to be his possible legacy. He could fairly feel his eyes growing irritated just thinking about it, and so he turned onto his side, curling into himself and hugging his knees close to his chest. His tail curled itself around his leg in a firm hold, as if it was anchoring him to himself. The one thing he’d always dreamed of was taken from him, and it may as well have been. When could he ever be so lucky as to have that happen?
He hardly heard Krile preparing herself for bed, his ears pressed flat to his head as he remained as he was. Sleep eventually found him, but only when he’d exhausted himself of his thoughts. — And just as abruptly was he taken from his dreamland, ears flickering in annoyance as his friend shook him awake. “...whzzit, Ruru…?” He mumbled, lazily pulling stray strands of hair from his mouth. He could hear her huffing impatiently. “And what time is it…? It’s hardly dawn…”
“It’s early. Now, I’m going down to the docks to see our colleague off on his expedition. The foolish man forgot his belongings and I’m the only one fit to bring it to him.” Another sigh, and he watched her hurriedly pulling on her coat, not bothering to pull up it’s hood. She paused a moment, before eyeing him. “I’d like you to come with me so that you can provide him with anything he might need on his journey.”
G’raha huffed, lips pressing into a pout as he flopped back onto the bed. She woke him up for this?? To send the fool on his way? What was she thinking, that he would feign politeness? Why, he felt like sending off the ship with a rock to it’s hull at this point! “Thank you for your consideration, Krile, but I think I’d prefer to stay and catch some shut-eye…”
There was a sudden tug at his ear, and he couldn’t help but yelp in annoyance, his frustration and fatigue really getting to him. “I’m sorry? I don’t recall asking you anything. You will accompany me to the docks, or I’ll tell grandfather all about you sleeping in during Master Peregrine’s lesson on morbol safety last week because it was ‘optional’!”
When G’raha met the lalafell’s eyes, everything about her was smiling.
Oh, this was true fear.
“You wouldn’t.”
“Care to test your grade on it then?”
And like a flash, he was suddenly awake, and already had his boots on as she turned to retrieve the bag. Typical of him, truly. — Not wanting to focus on the reason they were up and about so early, G’raha instead observed his friend and her rather...uncanny behavior. He knew that they may have been pressed for time in their delivery, but truly, could the ship captain not wait for their arrival if what they sent was the elezen’s belongings? She seemed awfully hurried for something not needing to be rushed, but then again, maybe she felt as he did, and simply wanted to get this whole ordeal over with and dive back into bed. Oh it fair brought him back to that one year they spent half of a holiday’s break seeing who could sleep for longer. Krile had won sure, but only because she’d tricked him into thinking he’d slept in over an exam date. How he missed those times…
The Dravanian winds were whipping up a chill as they scurried down to the docs, and G’raha was glad that their uniforms ran rather thick, only slightly bothered by the chill with the added bite to the nose of the ocean. He tried his best to warm himself, trying to keep busy as Krile did her work, but he couldn’t help but observe the area. There seemed to be no rush or bustling about, and the ship’s crew were hardly in a hurry, spotting a couple even sitting atop crates and exchanging casual conversation. Why then, was she in such a rush?
His ear flickered and swiveled as he heard her voice among the crew, seeing her speak with the supposed captain and figuring Orlais had probably sent him out for himself. Not wanting to confront Krile again, perhaps. He grinned at the thought, pleased that his short-statured friend could have such an intimidating presence. It was only when they’d both glanced over to him that he became alert, tail swishing upwards frantically. It must have been his turn to impart his knowledge upon such a lost soul. Oh how terrible he felt for Rammbroes and those in Mor Dhona…
“So, this is the one then? Well, on with it then, lad.”
The scholar sighed, a hand on his hip. He didn’t like the situation, but it didn’t mean he had to leave his replacement lost in the dark. “He’ll want to be wary of the four sentinals. It’s a four layered construct that fair shields the walkway of the tower, and they shan’t wish to fly above it. Any transport that flies too close will be shot out of the sky. If they can break through such a shield, the next obstacle would be the Labyrinth-“
“That’s all well and good, lad...but could you save it for the researchers? I’m only a sea dog, and I can’t say I understand half of what you’re blabberin’ about.” The captain interrupted, earning a confused glance from the scholar. “Now if it’s all the same to you, I’d like to get my ship out of dock before the sun hits the horizon. So whenever you’re itchin’ to climb aboard, don’t feel hesitant in doin’ so.”
“I...what?” Was all he could really say. How could he say anything else? Was Orlais not present? Or had he yet to show?
Krile then cleared her throat, holding out the sack of belongings and gesturing for the captain to give them a moment. It was then that G’raha realized how much of a fool he’d been. For this entire time, he hadn’t noticed she’d been carrying his bag.
“Krile...I don’t-“
He watched as his friend clasped her hands behind her back, and he instinctively knelt down to her height, confusion still swarming his every thought as she smiled up to him. “You promise me you’ll stay safe out there? No reckless behavior or wandering off to do things your way? You’re going simply as the letter states; an observer, and if I hear of you causing trouble, you can expect me to join you right away.”
It all donned in him then. Nobody knew but them that he was going. That was why she had rushed herself like so.
She had done all of this for him.
“...you know I cannot promise all those things at once. It would be far too complicated for me~” he tried at a smile, and both of them knew now what was to happen. A laugh escaped the girl, and she rushed in to embrace him, fairly squeezing him around his middle.
“I shall miss you, Raha...you come back safe, or I’ll make sure you do, you hear me?” Her words broke slightly at the end, and he was sure he heard the smallest of sniffles from her. He would miss her the most, he thought. The truest friend to the end. She backed away then, gently nudging his arm with a grin. “Now, go do what you were always meant to, and do try not to make a fool of yourself if you happen across someone you think is a new flame for you to enkindle?”
The miqo’te grinned, standing confidently now as he backed onto the landing plank. “Oh? And who’s to stop me if I do?”
“Don’t make me regret giving you this.” She huffed, giving him a simple wave as he backed further onto the ship. It would be morning soon, she thought. That was when the waves shone the prettiest, and he would finally get to see it. He would see it all, she knew.
Despite everything, she believed in him. This would make him happier.
This would be his destiny.
This would be their departure.

Lalapril Day 2: Guild
This caught up with me quickly haha I intended to do a bunch of screenshots of Hohoka exploring her first several guilds early in the story with a paragraph or two. I have the screenshots! But we're writing this as we go!
Tumblr media
At the behest of Momodi, Hohoka wandered into the Thaumaturge guild. She was then directed by another Lalafellin woman to the five brothers who seem to run the guild together. Though she had prior knowledge of thaumaturgy, they would have her start fresh to teach their tenants they said.
Tumblr media
The next day Hohoka ran into the man who helped her find her way upon arrival, Wymond. She walked up to him with hopes of paying him back somehow. All she got from him was a well-meaning snicker but then he stopped after a second. "Actually, there's something. Do me a favor an' take this missive to Josias at the Platinum Mirage." Hohoka smiled and nodded, running to the Pugilist Guild just down the way. After she passed over the letter to the man at the desk, she looked around her and was surprised to see how many Lalafell practiced here. Having grown up around taller races, she had never given any thought to learning a physical role - always believing those classes belonged to the stronger races. She sat and watched in awe, empowered by their shows of strength.
Tumblr media
Once her first guild masters gave their permission to learn other jobs, she ran to the pugilist guild. She would quickly learn to punch and kick with the best of them, and she found she enjoyed it greatly.
Tumblr media
She also decided to learn the sword, the other physical class available to her in Ul'dah. The sword was much more than she originally thought, it fell to her to protect her friends as well.
Tumblr media
After the incident with Tristan, Hohoka needed a break. Something relaxing. She had always found peace at her mother's loom and so she made for the Weaver's guild. Soon after she would find the mining, goldsmithing, and alchemy guilds as well!
Tumblr media
Her adventures continued with letters from General Raubahn in her pocket. But once her pockets were empty, she and her new friends, Aluette and Qih'tan, would show her around Gridania and most of it's guilds as well. Aluette was well known to many of the guilds: conjury, leatherworking, carpentry, and botany. Qih, who had recently arrived in Gridania himself, was very familiar with the Lancer's Guild.
Tumblr media
Neither of them knew much about the Archer's guild, however, and Hohoka was very excited to learn about them as well! So they ventured into the little corner of New Gridania the archers called home.
Tumblr media
As thanks for giving her the time of day, Hohoka's newest friend, Kiyomi, showed the group around Limsa Lominsa, starting with the Marauder's Guild, her home as Kiyomi put it. Hohoka gladly took the opportunity to learn to wield the axe. Walking along the Aftcastle, Hohoka was enticed by the sounds of the blacksmiths and armorers working. Of course, she would learn that too! And fishing as well as Kiyomi's tour neared its end.
Tumblr media
The official last stop was Melvaan's Gate. Kiyomi admitted she didn't know much about them other than it was the home of the arcanists. Intrigued by their name, Hohoka walked into their halls and learned their art. And so ended her learning spree for now. Empowered and enlightened, she would study all of these arts and eventually pick up even more.

Prompt #19: Turn a Blind Eye
Tumblr media
It was hard to be quailed by someone four feet shorter than you, but Vyth tried his best to look sufficiently cowed by the Lalafell glaring up at him. When you remembered the kind of magic Cocobuki could cast, it was easier to be afraid.
“I noticed that you have been showing up less and less often for your lessons,” the cowled Lalafell said. “Do you think you’ve mastered thaumaturgy, then?”
“No, sir,” Vy’thanis answered promptly. “I’ve just had other things on my mind.”
“Other things like what?”
Uh-oh. Vyth didn’t have a ready answer to cover for himself. He should’ve expected an inquisition, but somehow he’d thought himself beneath the guild’s notice. “I’ve been teaching Antonia how to read,” he blurted out. Poor Antonia. He owed her big time for this lie.
“She doesn’t know how to read?”
“No, sir. You know how Ala Mhigo’s been the last few decades. A lot of learning’s fallen by the wayside.”
“How’s she studying thaumaturgy, then?”
“Personal instruction, sir.”
The Lalafell’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “You’re up to something, Duskwight.”
Vy’thanis was used to that. To the suspicion that came naturally to his race. It was like everyone and anyone suspected him of trouble simply because of his birth. He sighed. “Nothing special, honestly.”
“I’ll turn a blind eye this time,” Cocobuki said, “but I don’t want to hear that you’ve gotten the guild in trouble by extension.”
Vyth gave his very best winning smile. “You’ll never hear such a thing on my account, sir.”

Pg. 25: Thandha Joiner's Pibianfu
Tumblr media
Taking a different approach to Carpentry, this outfit from the Hyogan Gallery takes from the Doman style.
Combining wintry splendour with traditional Far Eastern aesthetic, this entire ensemble is known as a “Pibianfu” - a special Doman garb composed of several layers.  The headpiece - simply known as the “Pibian” - is a vital part of this outfit as it designates the status of the wearer, be they artisan, noble, or even government official.
The Thandha Joiner’s Pibianfu blesses the wearer with the wisdom of a renowned Doman Carpenter by the name of Lu Ban, who was said to have ascended to godhood.  The icy artifact saw severs the aetherial bonds within the wood, and the resulting dust that forms is absorbed into the Himvat Mythril which composes the saw blade, empowering its aetherial signature while also mitigating the spread of errant specks of sawdust flying everywhere.
Doma makes its mark once more in the PiB Catalogue thanks to the ingenuity of the Diamond Sultan.  The Thandha Joiner’s Pibianfu is a wonderful addition to the haute couture realm, and a lovelier addition to a Carpenter’s wardrobe!  Any who gaze upon you in this as you create a woodworking marvel will undoubtedly come back for more.
(Credit and thanks to https://sapphrix.carrd.co/ for the creation of this masterpiece!)

FFXIVWrite: Day 11
Day 11: Transcend (Extra Credit)
Warnings: Consensual drug use, including bad reactions to psychedelics.
----
For all that Urianger had appeared to lead a sheltered existence, hooded and goggled in the basement of the Waking Sands, his experiences at the Studium had been hardly cowardly. Alcohol held no appeal for him, but to be quite frank alcohol's effects were boring.
Especially at the Studium, actually, where someone with polite manners and enough favors built up with the gleaners could get just about anything they needed as long as they claimed it was for a class project. (In retrospect, Urianger suspected that the wink they'd give him when wishing him good luck on his 'studies' indicated they believed him to be using their gatherings purely recreationally. Ironically, they were quite incorrect!)
As a student of prophecy, Urianger was well aware of the utility of psychoactive substances. They formed a great part of the history of oracular visions, after all. And to be a true student of their arts, he would need to undergo at least some fragment of the same journey, no? Stillglade Fane saw messages left in the leaves after ingesting shriekshroom cap spurs, while dreamtoads got their very name from the visions caused by ingesting their secretions.
Results had been…mixed.
He of course had no interest in the crueler substances, the ones that promised to take away pain but brought even greater suffering when you wished not to rely on them. Somnus was right out, for example, as were any of the more extreme opioids.
Milkroot, too, had not been a great time. Moenbryda had found him huddled in their dormitory's water closet, sweating and shaking, and in her great kindness had tucked him back into bed and sat with him until the invisible spiders ceased to crawl upon his flesh.
Shriekshroom Cap spores were fun. Trips that seemed to span centuries of soaring through the heavens, leaving him with a feeling of peace and euphoria as the effects wore of. Yes, he could see how people might claim to have touched the divine after such an experience, and why their spores held usage in several Gridanian religious rituals. No regrets on Shriekshroom caps.
But these days he saw enough strange and bizarre things during his sober hours that he had little interest in hallucinogenics. If anything, he'd appreciate…fewer visions. Fewer horrors behind his eyes when he closed them. Fewer moments when a scent or a sound made his pulse race or his throat clench.
A quiet moment of peace in the midst of the tempest would be just what the chirurgeon  ordered, and by chirurgeon he meant Urianger.
—-----
The cool morning air soaked into Urianger's skin as he stepped out into the marketplace of Revenant's Toll. At the back of his tongue he felt the familiar Mor Dhona tang of corrupted aether, sending waves of gentle nostalgia over him for the months long past.
"Eyyy!" cried Fafabine from his stall, his thick golden hair swaying as he waved. Urianger raised a hand in a return greeting to the small, chunky Lalafell man.
Fafabine Fabin was a traveling botanist who Urianger often purchased alchemical supplies from, and who supplemented his meager supply of alchemist customers by selling void parsley on the side. To Urianger's understanding the sales of Fafabine's gleanings were being used to fund his way through the botanist's guild, where he planned to eventually become a healer. Urianger found him courteous, reliable, and most of all prompt, a trait that was somewhat rare in most void parsley purveyors. Their business was not one that catered to those obsessed with being on time.
Urianger made the appropriate several minutes of small talk with the man before accepting his invitation to step around the back of the stall and out of sight of the street.
"What can I get for you, Master Scion?"
"I wouldst have a half-onze of your more potent astral strain, for I am sure the tranquility of sleep is in short supply in these strange times. "
"Oh, I got you, for sure."
"And also a quarter-onze of something for more frivolity, perhaps? A gentler umbral type, for those who wish to relieve tension but not take leave of their senses."
"You having a party, then?" Fababine's small fingers sorted through the small sealed jars within his coat, dosing out dried buds into small paper packages. Men as experienced as he did not need to stop to use scales to measure their product out, in Urianger's experience.
"Ah yes, of a sort! My comrades have a great need to relieve their tension, and I wouldst relieve them of their burdens in the only way I can."
"Relieve tension, you say." Fafabine's pale eyebrows waggled for reasons Urianger was slightly unclear on. He winked, agan for unclear reasons, and tucked another small package into Urianger's belt pouch. "This one's on the house for my favorite world-saver, for relieving that special friend's tension."
"I…thank you for your generosity, Master Fafabine."

Everyone is Here! V.2 ///
Tumblr media
A new picture with every single one, not forgetting any like I did last time.
Names: (I'll go in pairs of race)
Au Ra -
Hesperdon Lasicus (M)
Hesperdia Lasicus (F)
Born in the Azim Steppe to a clan that was wiped from the map, Hesperdon, a Dragoon and Dark Knight main, and Hesperdia, a Black Mage, took up adventuring with their special power of the Echo, and to find answers on what caused their tribe to be destroyed that fateful Naadam.
Hesperdon was trained by his father, picking up the lance since a young age, while Hesperdia joined her mother at prayer often, though she had strange, unexplainable instances of isolated thunderstorms near her when she did.
Viera -
Cassandra Casinova (F)
Cassandross Casinova (M)
Born in Central Shroud to a quiet couple who kept mostly to themselves in the woods, both Cassandra and Cassandross had a rather uneventful childhood. Cassandross being a klutz however meant that Cassandra had to save her incompetent brother from many unfortunate situations, leading her to eventually study White Magic, while her brother ran off with Hamon to study the fist.
Lalafell -
Papia Papai (M)
Lelila Liya (F)
Papia and Lelila met one day when Lelila was taking a stroll through East Shroud, taking a break from her red magic studies with X'rhun Tia. Her quiet stroll was interrupted when she heard obscenities and shouting from within the brambles, to see a Marauder Papia trying to size up a Treant. He promptly gets smashed into the ground, with Lelia saving him. (Though it took a few mistaken casts of Verthunder and Fire rather than Vercure) Feeling indebted to her, he follows promises to protect her, throwing the axe away to practice the Samurai blade instead.
Lelila would still have to save him however, as his short temper meant he was constantly getting himself into trouble. Nevertheless, if you see one of them, that means the other is usually not far behind. (Or they could be further ahead, you never know)
Roegadyn -
Helga Zurntunder (F)
Horus Zurntunder (M)
The two siblings grew up in a fishing family in Limsa Lominsa, similarly to the Casinovas, they had a rather peaceful life, spending their days helping the family fish and take in the salty ocean breeze. Their interest in adventure was sparked when they witnessed Louisoux Leveilleur arrive at the docks, stopping a certain white-haired boy's attempts to rob him. So they decided they would explore the world, leading Helga to train as a Warrior, while Horus took to the books and became a Scholar.
Miqo'te (Sibling pairs first)
Y'mylah Zoh (F)
Y'tylah Zoh (F)
Caspian Sentala (M)
Camilla Sentala (F)
Luniara Raha (F)
Zoh Siblings -
The Zohs are twins, a Monk and a Machinist who work in almost perfect harmony of close and long range combat. Having almost exactly the same tastes in everything except the way they take out their foes, most of their conflicts come down to a basic game of rock paper scissors, even when debating about love interests!
While Y'mylah lost the game when the two were debating over Thancred, she would end up with Y'shtola instead. A happy ending if I do say so myself.
The Sentala siblings are.... a work in progress. Sorry!
Luniara Raha was the sole survivor in her family that originates from Bozja. Her parents were found crushed under a mound of rubble by Helio Velithgar, who would take the child under his wing. This came at the sacrifice of his role in the Resistance, which will be expounded on in the Helio section later.
Growing up in Kugane, she trained from a young age with Yugiri Mistwalker, becoming a master Ninja at only the age of 12. She respects Helio greatly, not only as her father, but as a fierce warrior as well.
Elezen -
Freya Etionellie (F)
Freyr Etionellie (M)
Born into a low-born status, the Brume was their home for many years, their parents passing away when they were only 5 and 3 respectively. In order to scrounge up any amount of coin to feed her brother, Freya worked in the Forgotten Knight as a musician and singer, her beautiful voice attracting many to the tavern to listen and enjoy a drink. This voice was powerful enough to attract even high-borns, causing an unbelievable mix of high and low-borns in the same tavern, singing along and enjoying drinks together. This also attracted the eyes of one Haurchefant Greystone, who would become friends with the young girl, promising to protect her no matter the cost.
Several years would pass, with Freyr joining the Ishgardian army, serving with Haurchefant, while Freya grew increasingly popular with her performances. This also made some high-borns increasingly jealous and spiteful, a low-born being able to rival that of a high-born? It was unthinkable. While she could not be harmed physically, both due to her widespread popularity and a member of the Fortemps family actively protecting her, she received a myriad of death threats, dead animals nailed to her front door, and horrible messages scrawled across the walls near her home. It was clear it was not a safe place for her, so she would eventually leave to Gridania, with a promise to see Haurchefant again one day.
Freyr, however, stayed in Ishgard, taking up astrology, and becoming a proficient healer. There was not much for him to do, however, so he tended to his and his sister's home, keeping it spotless and ready for whenever his sister would, inevitably, return.
Hyur -
Valentina Arcanli (F)
Rynes Laskima (M)
Rynes is a strange case in the lore, as he's actually my self-insert. I oftentimes break the 4th wall when writing short stories including him, but there is still a background to how the two Hyurs ended up meeting.
Valentina was/is an excellent engineer, working closely with Garlond Ironworks and the Skysteel Manufactory, crafting up wild machines and weapons that she often used on the field. Cid was a close companion to her, helping her with troubleshooting any problems she ran into.
The two Hyurs would run into each other when Valentina was working in Middle La Noscea. As she enjoyued the sea breeze and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below, she often spent time there. Rynes was walking past, mildly annoyed by the sound of hammers against iron, but was more than happy due to obtaining a new set of Ironworks gear. He also noticed that an Auroch was readying to ram Valentina off the side of the cliff. In a quick burst of speed, he would run over to Cover her just in time, at the repercussion of him falling off instead. Valentina would save him, and also show that his Ironworks gear was in fact, a fake. The Auroch would also stay around, both out of confusion from what had happened, but also because Valentina would treat it well, eventually outfitting it for battle with its own armor and saddle.
Hrothgar -
Helio Velithgar
A high-ranking officer of the Bozjan Resistance, Helio would run into an infant Luniara on one of his excursions into the field, cut off from the rest of his team. He was surrounded by the Empire, but would narrowly escape with his life, albeit unconscious and with Luniara safe as well. When he managed to reawaken, he was in Kugane, visited by Gosetsu Daito, who explained to him that he was safe, however the situation in Bozja was too unstable for him to return immediately. He would stay in Kugane, training and tending to Luniara, hoping to return to his friends and comrades.

Warrior of Light: Trippy
Tumblr media
Name: Trippy Cracklefist (born Tripipi Tipi) Age: 22 Height: 2′6 Race: Lalafell Main Job: Mechanist/Paladin Secondary Jobs: Monk, Ninja, Black Mage Starting City: Ul’dah Server: Aether/Cactuar Trippy’s Lalafellin Clan is made of merchants and shopkeepers in Ul’dah. She wanted to find fame and fortune as an adventurer and signed up for the Adventurer’s Guild as soon as she was able. She found her niche in the Pugilist’s Guild, training with Master Hamon, and the Thamaturges Guild with Master Cocobuki. Later she met Papashan and he encouraged her to become a Free Paladin. One of her favorite places is the Drowned Wench in Limsa Lominsa. When she began working with the Rogues’ Guild, both Baderon Tenfingers and Captain Jacke nicknamed her “Pips” (a play on her birth name: Tripipi ->Three Pips->Pips).  Many people underestimate her because of her small stature (in game, she’s a minimum height Lala). Usually a punch to the face or a shield to the knee fixes that attitude. Trippy doesn’t go out of her way to cause a fight, but she’s a big believer in “don’t start a fight, but end it.” She gets along with fellow WoL Remyen MacGanahan, since they have a similar temperament, and they’re usually tank buddies (her a Paladin, him a Gunbreaker). Trippy loves to tease her friends; she likes to rag on Lewin for his aversion to spicy food. Although she leaves the cooking to others, since the only thing she can cook well is coffee biscuits. She’s a trained goldsmith and will make trinkets to sell or gift to friends.

Pepeze: Such beauty... Such grace... This... THIS is art!
So I decided to start Pepeze on the path of a Dancer. I’ve been wanting to give the job a go for a while, and even though I could do it as Pepean I wanted to do SOMETHING with Pepeze because I’d kinda forgotten about her... Hey bits of game data have feelings too! ... Don’t they?! XD
Anyway, I think as far as my character lore goes it’s time for Pepean and Pepeze to stop living in the shadows of their parents and start living their own lives. While I’d kind of done that with Pepeze with Chocobo Racing, I wanted to start advancing her character past that a little. Hey maybe the Chocobo Racing business is starting to run dry so Pepeze had to pursue another means of income, so she went back to adventuring, this time in a job she enjoys a lot more than magic.
Another reason I wanted Pepeze in this role was to fight against this whole “Only beautiful people can be Dancers, ergo not Lalafells!” stereotype that some people have. Now this only applies to a small few, most people just smile and joke about “dancing potatoes” and generally just have fun with it. However, there is that small section that think Lalas can’t do this job or wear the revealing armour just because they don’t have big boobies. I mean guys, come on, it’s 2020, grow up. So yeah, making Pepeze take on this role is kind of a middle finger to that small-minded meat-head stereotype.
In any case, let’s see where the Dancer career takes Pepeze in the future.
