In this week's episode of the Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime, we have a flashback scene in which a young Akira watched an episode of totally not Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger (adapted in the US as Power Rangers Ninja Storm) in which totally not Kabuto/Kuwaga Raiger beat up some goons.

We also see him dressed up as one called himself AkiRaiger.

Top Left: Nagoriyuki’s Mask (Guilty Gear Strive) - nothing really deep here I just like the mask and wanted to inject at least one concept from a fighting game

Top Middle-Left: Juuzo (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) - Mushi’s rival is samurai themed, and Juuo is one of The iconic rivals to me, both in design and story. Mushi’s rival is fixated on her specifically, and much like Juuzo is always looking to fight her specifically with little interest in anything else.

Top Middle-Right: Shadow Moon (Kamen Rider Black) - literally The Tokusatsu Rival. I’m drawing from Shadow Moon for two chief reasons. 1) Mushi’s Rival is a sword-user like Shadow Moon, but Mushi fights without a weapon, like Black. 2) referencing Shadow Moon should clue you into the fact that there’s a hidden and tragic connection between the two rivals.

Top Right: KuwagaRaiger (Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger) - this is purely a design reference, the rival is kuwaga beetle themed

Bottom Left + Bottom Middle-Left: EXM-A9s Spinatio Sengoku Type (30 Minute Missions) - I’d say this is the real meat and potatoes of the design philosophy in my mind.  having this kit irl is what really galvanized the motif and black/red color scheme for this character to me. Just like this kit, I think the rival would use a variety of weapons that follow his theme, but would always have his specific katana to rely on as well.

Bottom Middle-Right: Kamen Rider Gattack (Kamen Rider Kabuto) - again purely design reference, due to the kuwaga beetle theme

Bottom Right - Kamen Rider Katakiri (Kamen Rider Katakiri) - they share the exact same color scheme and an affinity for bladed weapons. Mushi’s rival was active during Mushi’s time as the only Kamen Rider around, around 10 years before Katakiri became active. what could their connection be?

Julio and Hana dying... would have fucking sucked! They're like the best characters in the show specifically for their journeys, and I've talked before about how Revice's themes feel centered around redemption and recovery which these two characters dying wouldn't be fitting for. This seems to have been a very early draft though with not much thought put into it

The three siblings being different 'faction leaders' with conflict between them and Giff being less an active enemy and more a reality and situation to be considered? Wow! I was saying all this shit during the show! Feels kinda good to be proven right like that but also, like, clearly it veered off path. I think it does speak to how good Revice’s endgame could have been if they had stuck to these ideas

Sakura's character being conceived as one that has to do with revolution in the face of society. Again, literally all there from the start and it's very strange how that veered off path; but Toei, what you gonna do.

"Over Demons isn't really supposed to be a new rider as much as it is just Demons Kuwaga Genome" I KEEP SAYING!! Also this is just. fucking bizarre. "Demons with Vail's armour" was a very specific order right from the start. That wasn't something last minute or that changed during story development or anything they-- toei just specifically wanted that from the start. Okay! Fuck Vail I guess! This does give interesting insight into how these things work, though -- filming for the Vail series was literally happening at the same time as Over Demons, and they were able to use Vail's armour for both; which is also specifically why Over Demons doesn't have a more cohesive colour scheme. I want to say this means the Vail suit is still alive but I don't want to get my hopes up and also the moment's kinda passed, hasn't it...

Another translator is saying that Hiromi was originally meant to be Over Demons. Fascinating! Definitely puts more stock into Hikaru's actor's agency pushing for him to get more

New suit New hair

I’m testing out a new hairstyle for Bonnie based on a picrew design with no dreads. What better way then to test with 3 different versions of SPD Red Ranger/Deka Red. One of which includes a Manga exclusive version of Deka Red. (With the jacket from my Winged Kuwaga design) One is a design by MarioStrikerMurphy. The last one is the battlizer. (Without the thong and the Delta Enforcer from SWAT Mode. Idea from Mark Marella. Might be my first time drawing the SPD Battlizer.

This was a commission for my good friend @the-fourth-survivor~ I love slapping this stardust finish on waaaaaaayy too many Zoids lol, and they wanted a Kuwaga from the new Zoids Wild line with it.

The blue is FolkArt Ice Blue, which is important to paint over white - unless you want to have to paint around 5 million coats lol instead of just 5 thousand. It's soooo pretty though omg. I'm also using it on my Blizzard E Liger!

(Honestly though, this stardust x silver x chrome scheme is becoming a trademark of mine. I uh, have a couple more WIPs and projects with it actually xD; It's just too prettyyyy)
