I can't believe I ever disliked Jumin.
This man is just like "I like striped shirts because you can still see the stripes when you fold them" and "nothing is more important to me than my cat."
Like... !!!!!!!
Listen he's adorable

Hello BPP,
One of the thoughts I have had over the last few days, and one I hope doesn't offend anyone, is that shipping sometimes is founded in selfishness.
The reason I have come to this conclusion is the behaviour of a certain community that is quite vocal online in their displeasure over the content that gets produced. They have turned to focusing solely on the members they ship instead of grasping the emotional weight of the moments we get to observe. They immediately jump to the conclusion of a conspiracy against their ship, despite how non-sensical repressing said ship would be from a purely capitalistic viewpoint, and then use footage that was taken without the consent of the members and after their express wish for fans to not appear at the send-off to support their theory. I have heard of them furthering the narrative that their ship is real due to private moments yet these moments are either (a) debunked by those who are not sucked into the narrative or (b) obtained by sharing videos once again without the consent of their shippées.
But it isn't about the bond between JK and Tae for them but rather being right, about being the ones to see the truth - going against the grain - and whatever rhetoric they like to employ.
It's about the fetishisation of two attractive men being together, a comforting thought for what I imagine to be girls and women that would like to be in a relationship with these two themselves. Why else would they mostly focus on bashing a company and real human beings because they're not being catered to?
It is quite disturbing to consider how there's this willingness to cross boundaries of every type, including tweeting at an actual government branch and then accusing said branch of furthering fanservice. All of it is, as I stated at the beginning, selfish. There is no consideration for the feelings of the people they claim to protect, no media literacy, no acceptance of Occam's Razor, no interest in factual depictions.
I hope they grow tired soon, because it is tiring to even witness in the periphery.
---
Sorry for the quite stilted English, I've been watching too many video essays the past few days and I physically cannot turn off that filter.
***
It’s sad, amusing and concerning all at the same time, isn’t it? You’ve hit the nail on the head and yeah it applies to most shippers: taekookers especially but also many jikookers, and even solo stans, who resort to the same mental leaps when their expectations aren’t met. I agree with you and have said much the same several times in the last few years.
I don’t share your hope that they grow tired soon though. In fact what tends to happen is that they become even more unhinged. The more they invest into their theories and worldview, the more they take increasingly invasive steps to validate those theories. It’s sad and one of the worst expressions of sunk cost fallacy I’ve seen in fandom. The most we can do as fans is to check that behaviour when we see it in the fandom, and deplatform people building a following set on those ideas. And hope to god that the military does a decent job of ensuring their security while in service.

Try speaking in front of a mirror
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING EXERCISE FOR THOSE LEARNING ANOTHER LANGUAGE:
speak to yourself in front of a mirror,and attempt to only use your target language
some guidelines i would use for beginners esp: try to use vocab you already might know (example: i speak _ language and i want to eat _ food), and try to keep speaking as long as possible. reiterate what you just said with a different sentence format, literally just speak as varied and as long as you are able to
this does a few things:
- shows what words and sentence structures you have a handle on
-what words you should learn next to keep speaking (words like for, this, now, tomorrow, yesterday) that dont always show up in vocab lists
-what you struggle with
-practices your speaking brain muscles, since you are only looking at yourself and not getting any assistance
others have probably already mentioned this, i feel like i heard about this from somewhere before but I can't remember but i just tried this and loved it
below i accidentally clicked the question button and couldnt delete it so now i ask you this question:

Thanks so much for running this blog, I love tournaments and it's such a great way of finding new ones in time to submit to them!
Thank you! I was always kinda upset when I only found a fun tournament in the quarter finals, and so while I’m sure I don’t catch all tournaments (there must be non English ones for instance right?) I do this because I hope this helps a little, so it’s nice to hear that it actually does :)

Suchong's role in the story is to be a foil to Tenenbaum. He's a representation of her bad end, what would've happened if she didn't decide to put life above her pursuit of science. While Suchong doesn't ever make that jump, and dies because he abused a child.
He's showing that change is what saved Tenenbaum, that if she had continued to sacrifice humanity for knowledge her work would've killed her too. And that expands to Rapture as a whole, as the only people who survive the city are the people who put other lives above their own desires.

Sorry if this sounds rude but if you are Korean how are your English levels so high. I’m super curious on how you studied English cuz from what I know, Koreans find it hard to study English and normally their English are decent
it's bc i was born in england lmao :> i spent my kindergarten years in korea but i live in england!

i mean this in the least weird possible i promise but. i think that you get an extra layer of delight in reading tged and 약 파는 황태자 if you're used to consuming korean content. i'm not saying you're missing something important from them if you don't do this but,,,, i do think there are certain little details and humor that probably don't hit quite as much if you're not familiar with some of the culture and humor lol
it's just the little things, like lloyd calling javier "this punk" or "this guy" even while talking directly with him, because it feels sorta awkward in english, but if you're used to watching series or movies in korean you can almost hear the tone in which he's saying it.
or when javier is teasing lloyd and he hits too close at home and lloyd just goes "hey" but you can almost heart the "야" which is very close but not quite. or this little 'haah' he does when he's kind of frustrated or thinking hard about something.
or that you don't quite get why it's such a deal that julian started calling lloyd 'older brother' cause the translation doesn't use the word 'hyung'. or that the point of javier and lloyd's bet was that if lloyd lost he would call javier, someone younger than him, 'hyung' which would imply he's older and is a form of showing respect or affection. which is completely different from the 'master' they used in the translation. or how sweet and kind of sad it is that theodore still calls rakiel 'hyung' even when the whole court expects them to be against each other.
or just in general the way the dialogue flows feels much more natural when you consider that it was originally written in korean and not in english
it just,, small things that you don't quite notice unless you already have experience in dealing with a different language than the one you were raised with akjshdkja

I want to hope on the bully Chigiri train! I feel like Chigiri like watching BL Kdramas and only so he could understand it better, he became fluent in Korean. Team Z has gotten on every nerve in Chigiri’s body and he absolutely lost his shit and cussed them out in Korean. Now I know most people be like when someone yell/cuss them out in a different language they be scared, but me personally I be laughing because I don’t know what you’re saying and it’s amusing to me. I feel like Bachira would be the same way and try to get Chigiri to tell him what he said, but Chigiri is refusing, soo TICKLES!!! And because it’s Bachira and we know Isagi is a complete and utter simp for him and Bachira be walking him like a dog and got him eating out of the palm of his hand and and, okay I’m going to stop. I just made this BachiSagi. ANYWAY Bachira dragged Isagi in it and Kunigami is OBSESSED with Chigiri’s laugh and smile and will use whatever opportunity he has to see it DOESN’T pass up the chance to partake in the torture Chigiri party
Headcanons To Dabbles: Officially CLOSED!
Ooo, this is so good!!! I love the idea of Chigiri wanting to learn a new language; it reminds me of when I was in Spanish class and how we'd watch this internet show to get an understanding on conversational spanish! :) I've gotcha friend!
In Chigiri’s defense- it was a slip of the tongue.
When he was in recovery from his ACL tear, he and his sister would watch K-Dramas together during rest days. She had a wide range of taste in them, everything from over the top scenarios to classic romance plots to everything in between. It was one of the only good memories he had associated with the injury.
It was also one of the reasons he decided to learn Korean. He figured it’d look good to any future colleges he applied to, and he wouldn’t need subtitles anymore when he watched. He wasn’t by any means fluent, but he could say a few phrases and sentences these days.
That’s what got him in trouble today.
~~~
“What did you say?” Bachira blinked, wide eyed and curious after the string of words coming out of Chigiri’s mouth. He had made it his life’s mission to pick on the redhead today- poking his sides while singing something about peaches.
“I said…” Chigiri blinked, eyes widening when he realized what he let slip. “Nothing, just-forget about it.”
“Was that Korean?” Bachira pushed, bouncing in glee. “That was Korean! When’d you learn? How much can you speak?”
“I told you, it’s nothing! Don’t worry about it-” Chigiri backed away, hitting the wall with a small yelp. “B-Bachira!”
“Now, Missy- I wanna know!” Bachira smirked before hopping forward, fingers digging into Chigiri’s sides, making him squeal and sink almost instantly. “Don’t be shy- tell me!”
“Nohoohoohohoho! It’s nohohoohhohothing! I shahahhahahid noohhohohohothing!” Chigiri cried out, cheeks reddening as he curled around the hands flying over his tickle spots. “Leheheheheht me uuhuuhuuhuhuhp!”
“What’s going on? Isagi asked as he and Kunigami came in, brows raised and smiles already on their faces upon seeing the sight. “Are we tickling Princess?”
“Nohohoohoohoho!”
“Yes! He can speak Korean! Get over here and help me figure out what he said!” Bachira encouraged, going for a knee and earning a squeal.
“Doohohoohohohn’t! No- Isahhhahahgi, Kuhuuhuhuhni! Stahhahahahhay bahahahhahhahck!” Chigiri cried, laughing harder when the two joined the fray. “Shahahahhvhe mehehehhhehehe!”
“Sorry, Princess- I’m too invested now!” Kunigami grinned, easily pulling Chigiri in his lap as the other two carried on. “Tell us what you said!”
“We want to know!” Isagi agreed, pinching along Chigiri’s hips. “I wanna hear you speak!”
“Peaches, peaches peaches peaches peaches.” Bachira went back to singing his little song, squeezing Chigiri’s knee with each lyric.
~~~
“Man, Missy can’t catch a break.” Raichi laughed, shaking his head at the four.
“I didn’t know he could speak Korean. What do you think he said?” Kuon asked, not expecting an answer.
“You’re lucky you’re so dear to me, else I’d murder you in your sleep.” The boys turned in shock, staring at Gagamaru.
“You speak Korean?” They yelped simultaneously.
“No, but I can understand it.” Gagamaru nodded, going back to puffing up his futon. “It’s how I watch all my K-dramas.”

why do the Viki subs say 'don't ever come near Kang Young Hwa' when Do Ha leaves Min Oh in the hallway when what he's actually saying is something along the lines of (at least from what i can hear) 'do not find yourself (unintelligible?) Kang Young Hwa a second time'. what's the reason for that
