I want to go on a little rant because i keep seeing people be like "ACTUALLY persephone and hades WERENT in love she was KIDNAPPED and this is WRONG" whenever they see them loving each other and they get so upset it's like

Bruh. Stop.

For one, it's a story. They're characters in the authors world. They're allowed to be changed. Your life isn't ruined just because someone else wrote them being nice to each other

And two, Kore being kidnapped is just ONE VERSION OF THE MYTH that gets passed down. Growing up, I learned that she found her way down there and LOVED Hades and he loved her. From my own Greek family straight from a village outside Athens

Thats how the myths worked. They were spoken and changed during the years and years of being passed around through different mouths. That's why Medusa is a villain in one story, and a protector of women in another. That's why we have different versions of Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio, ect. That's the beauty in storytelling and myths because there's no concrete version

So please, if this is you. Just take a breath, go outside, and realize that we're lucky to hear these stories in the first place

Rant

So, my brother is saying that the name Persephone is derived from Persimmon. Keep in mind that I have been obsessed with Greek mythology for *nine years* and Persephone in particular for the past four years. I have researched this extensively and have never found any connection with persimmons. My brother keeps suggesting that she ate persimmon seeds, not pomegranate seeds, which is blatantly false. I have tried to explain this, but he refuses to listen and presents no sources. This is driving me mad; can you guys help me prove once and for all that Persephone has no connection to persimmons.

Picard Season 2, Episode 10: Trailer Breakdown

(And also very probably my breakdown also)

⚠️ Spoilers ahead ⚠️

In this post I’ve added trailer dialogue in bold/italic/inset - because the choice of lines, over certain characters, is making me Sweat.

Ah good! Something we’ve not heard of at all this season is now key to episode 10. Excellent storytelling guys. Juice and orange slices all round.

Can someone please explain to me WHY Arik Soong, Altan Inigo Soong, Noonian Soong, Adam Soong has military drones in his basement, hidden behind a retractable secret wall? I am clinging to ‘mad eugenicist’ but this is quickly veering towards Bond villain.

Imagine a season where we cared about Renee Picard. Where we knew something about her. Where she wasn’t (like Picard’s mother) a traumatised woman with no other character traits, who is only there to further Picard’s plot line. (I’m not salty, at all)

Optimist me: Oh, combining Picard’s “So much death” dialogue with this shot of Raffi and Rios hugging, is to reference the death of Elnor (I cannot BELIEVE that is the optimistic version)

LOOK. I know I’m meant to be ecstatic about this. I know I have spent the last TWO YEARS obsessing about this. I have written more than 100k words on AO3 about this. BUT Season 2 has made me suspicious and salty and I’m not counting my chickens until their Alpha Canon SO, this will remain an Almost-Kiss in my books until I see it in the episode AND I am still so mad that so much of their relationship has been designed to fly under the Straight Gaze, and stay in the realm of ✨gal pals✨ 

Us wlw shippers are so utterly used to working with nothing that crumbs do often feel like a feast, but I have watched this show with casual fans and The Straights™️ (who have obviously not listened to No Man’s Land, and who have no recollection of a 2 second shot of a hand hold two years ago) and those people have been reading this pairing as Very Close Friends. To me that is a clear failure of writing, or a deliberate choice, or both. If we can have Rios pretty unambiguously fall for someone he’s known for 48 hours, then we should be able to have that same certainty with Raffi and Seven. And up until this shot we haven’t, and I’m mad about it.

Q: Your pains-

I’m really hoping they do something interesting with Kore, but my hopes aren’t high.

Why we couldn’t just have had Soji I do not know. As the inimitable @curator-on-ao3​ pointed out, we’ve seen Isa Briones discover she was ‘made not born’ THREE SEPARATE TIMES as THREE SEPARATE CHARACTERS, but we’ve yet to have any time for her character to explore what that means to Dahj/Soji/Kore as a person.

The ‘your-past-is-a-lie gaslighting/ trauma-as-character-development’ is getting real old, real fast. Data got to explore his humanity through painting, writing poetry, playing the violin, and forming close and meaningful friendships with his found family on the Enterprise. All we have for Isa Briones characters is the ‘turns out you’re not human’ punchline over, and over, and over again.

Q: -fix you-

Me: I will not read too much into a shot of Cris over the line “Your pains fix you to moments in the past”, and will continue to assume that Rios will be in Season 3. Also me: I WILL assume they’re leaving Rios in the past. I will read into the fact that episode 10 is called ‘Farewell’, I will assume he won’t be in Season 3, and I will mourn everything that wasn’t done with this brilliant, brilliant character.

Huh. Well shit. At least the QCard lot might be somewhat happy about this season (because I’m not)

Honestly, at this point I just want it to be over. Which is sad. Because this show means so much to me. But If I had put every bad plot idea I could think of in a bingo roller, and picked them out one at a time, I MIGHT have ended up with a better season than this.

In the vampire world, there are things called drudges (if you know the book series The Chronicles Of Vladimir Tod, you'd definitely recognize this) which are humans that obey vampires.

Chucky is one of these

He eventually allows Tiffany to bite him and, to his amazement, he doesn't become a vampire. He does have vampiric traits such as sharper teeth, a palette complexion, more sensitivity to the sun etc etc, but he's still human

He doesn't gain many of the powers Tiffany has as she's a full born again vampire, and he's still mainly human, but he is now immortal

Many of you may be confused about this so lemme explain; Born again vampires are MUCH different than what Chucky is

To become a born again vampire, you have to be eaten (yes eaten!) By another vampire. When you're born again, you have no memories of your family or past life, and no matter how hard you try to remember, you'll never remember your death

Tiffany doesn't remember her past life/death even though she has the bite marks in her neck. She doesn't mind honestly, she's happy with the new life she has now

Also, now that Chucky has more vampiric traits to him, he's no longer wanted by other vampires as he was before

And by wanted I mean wanted for food LMAOSJWJAN

Another part that comes with being a drudge is a marking on his shoulder. These markings are considered signatures used by other vampires to mark what is theirs. These are used quite commonly in sacred objects and even drudges, but sometimes it's used on humans!

Chucky had his marking from Tiffany before he became a drudge. He was close to being killed by other vampires before Tiffany scared them off, so she felt it was appropriate for him to have protection even when he was without him

Other vampires can feel or sense when something has been marked as it always exudes an aura that specifically comes from the marker themselves. This actually made Chucky a threat to other vampires as Tiffany holds a very high power in vampire culture. Not to the likes of Dracula's power but she's definitely clos

She most likely gave these markings to the twins (who, in this AU, belong to @cornerofhell) but on necklaces instead as children never heal well when it comes to markings and she would never want to hurt her babies, or for them to be hurt by others for that matter!!

When it comes to characterizing Persephone, there are so many ways to portray her. The depiction of her as a cute, innocent pastel girl is probably the most common, and you know what? It makes so much sense! A pastel girl and a goth man, opposites attract, it just works!

I've even been thinking more about how to depict that couple. The more I think about it, the more I picture Roger and Jessica Rabbit. Persephone being this goofy, almost regular-looking woman with a lot of energy, and Hades being this over-the-top, sexy, feminine man. It's a little different, but still fits the whole opposites attract trope.

So many LO fans act like Demeter is an absolutely awful mother for sheltering Persephone. According to them she's an abusive helicopter mom. But like, in the context of the world, Demeter was not in the wrong.

Persephone should not have gone to Olympus.

Artemis, her caretaker, abandoned her at a party, which led to her getting blackout drunk and put into a strangers car by two Olympians because of something someone else said about her. She was then gaslighted by one of the Olympians. (Idc you abandoned your gf and you miss her. Don't drug someone cuz your mom told you to.) She was then sa'd because her caretaker didn't follow the rules Demeter had set. She was given a job in the underworld even though she was against it. Even though she was a candidate for a life of celibacy she was paired off with Heras bil because Hera felt bad for him. She was lusted over by a 2000 year old man with severe mental issues. Said man ruined her social life at school because I made him feel better. She got tricked into going into a very very dangerous situation by the old man's spiteful ex

All in one week

Not even mentioning how Hera disguised herself to trick demeter because she disagreed with her parenting style, went against demeter and persephones original plans for tgoem and started shipping her with hades and her sons. How persephone was attacked by shades because she was given a job she was unqualified for. How she got into a relationship at 20 years old with a man 100x her age that she only knew for two weeks. Persephone literally singlehandedly brought Kronos back to life. And then had to fight him. And become queen. AS A CHILD.

I get helicopter parents are bad and Demeter is not without her faults, but in the context of how the Gods are, I do not blame her.

And this is a completely other rant, but Demeter has every right to oppose Hades' relationship with Kore.

He's 2000 Kores 30. He spent his entire life antagonizing her. Refusing to vote for her and bribing Zeus not to give her a position she rightfully earned. Yet he gets to be king without doing anything. This blueberry capitalist predator basically groomed her daughter. But because they're #couplegoalz she's in the wrong.

Demeter deserves better.

do you know what? The way you're feeling, that you have to keep up with her, I totally get it. Lemme be honest. I still like her old songs, this album is complete miss for me. Liking her old songs is OK. If you accept that it gets better.

The thing is she's such a good businesswoman. She does these things to want everyone to be looking at her, like she says in mirrorball. It doesn't have to be good things, she has so many songs in the album so people keep talking about her. The more they talk (whether good or bad things) the kore exposure she gets. Her haters don't get that. They leaked the album, it made more people curious to know what it is about. Like they say even bad press is press. So the more attention people give her the better for her.

Also she doesn't care for her fans, she care for their money that much I can tell you. She's a performer and she tells her life stories, blame the fans for worshipping her actually. She's not responsible. She's just doing her own thing, if no one gave attention to her or to celebs imagine how sad they'll be. It's like they crave our attentions and it's so weird cuz we'll spend so many hours of our life looking up to them and who's losing ? Us! The fans. Just look back how many hours are wasted and for what? Someone you don't even know? Just listen to the songs if you like them sm and stop there. Move on with your life. Don't waste your life for these people. All you guys are worth sm more. Don't chase behind people !!!

Sorry it's becoming a rant, but I feel this way too. Why am I so obsessed with her and other celebrities? Just stop giving them attention and I think it'll benefit everyone, they won't be billionaires making money off you anymore. I know it's super hard I'm struggling and I don't think you should delete your blog immediately, it's better to get it all off your chest and then maybe one day when you've gotten over it you can delete it. LO RANT:

The new episode had to be the most rushed, underwhelming, predictable and overall worst fight ever. I’m sorry I just cannot take that episode seriously to save my life, it doesn’t even feel part of the storyline it feels so random and weird that it doesn’t even feel like… Real?

My first annoyance with this episode is that.. The fucking fight was absolute dog water, there was barely any sort of real power from both of them showing during it. Persephone was just whooshing around mud?? Like that’s going to defeat motherfucking KRONOS the god who literally had the world crumbling and started a damn war for years! The god who scarred the 6 traitors and traumatized them and left scars for years, even giving many of them nightmares. The man everyone was worried about, was defeated by a boring ass super sized Persephone. I am just so extremely disappointed with this whole fight, I mean honestly how fucking long was that fight advertised in the comic? It was supposed to be some world altering threat and that’s all we fucking got are you serious. I’m sorry but I just cannot accept that that’s how the Kronos plot story ended.

About Kronos, I wanted him to be a lot more scarier or at least intimidating I’m so sick of every single God just absolutely fawning over Persephone, I’d much rather him treat Persephone like she was just a power source (like she’s meant to be) than to be a replacement Rhea for him to be with and rule the world together. It was so completely unnecessary and honestly really cringe about the way that Kronos randomly drooled over her that was so annoying I genuinely wanted him to have like… A god complex. (Get it) Overall I feel like his potential and his character got ruined because he was talked up to be some very scary and powerful being yet got destroyed by Persephone who still cannot control her damn powers or it doesn’t seem like she can since she can’t use them for jack shit unless it’s to make vines.

Something else that bothered me about this “fight” is the comic trying so hard to make Persephone so “unbothered” and “badass” genuinely it was so hard to read to be honest. Like something about it ticked me the fuck off, it just did not give what it was supposed to give and it sent chills down my spine in a horrendous way. It was just terrible honestly.

Another thing that bothered me was Persephone herself, like I said before there’s nothing scary or dreadful about Persephone I’m so tired of seeing “aesthetically pleasing” gods when they’re in LITERAL TRUE FORMS I’m not saying that all gods should be terrifying I’m just saying that I’m tired of all the gods being so pretty and polish and stuff, there’s so much potential in letting the art form be more raw without always needing to make it pretty. I just wish we could see more forms of Persephone outside of being “sweet innocent and kind” we’ve been seeing this side of her for three seasons now and it’s getting annoying. What is even the difference between Kore and Persephone? If Rachel was going to make it seem like Persephone has two sides she needs to make them very freaking distinctive.

Another thing that bothered me was the unnecessary film crew. How the fuck are they even awake..? Isn’t every citizen in The Underworld supposed to be asleep or am I going crazy? Anyways they literally did not bring anything to the scenes and they weren’t very funny at all honestly, just why were they there? I don’t get it. This is just a petty nitpick by the way just wanted to add that there.

Another small nitpick was her crying… A-Fucking-Gain, that’s so annoying to me we get it Persephone would never wanna destroy the man who is literally a threat to everyone and the one that is currently putting YOUR MOTHERS (and hades or whatever) life in danger. We know she’s so kind and empathetic that she would never wanna murder anyone boohoo, we get it please stop shoving it down our throats. It’s just annoying that Persephone just cannot be wrathful with zero regrets.

Anyways I can say that Tartarus’ design because that was genuinely the only good thing about the episode for me. It was so nice to look at and they really did serve, glad that they were the one who finished the fight and not Persephone because the whole point wasn’t to make Persephone specifically to go up against Kronos and defeat him. But yeah, good on them for doing what Persephone couldn’t.

But that’s the end of the rant. Sorry if I came off a little aggressive this rant but the whole thing really irked me because it could’ve been so much better and they’ve been dragging that fight on for seasons and it was so disappointing. But like I always say I’m very biased and I’m talking completely about how I felt about it and my own thoughts, please don’t take any of this as fact because it’s not but if you do agree with me that’s great, and if you don’t that’s also great. These are just meaningless rants and I do not want anyone to use these as fuel to insult people who enjoy and love Lore Olympus because that’s not what this is supposed to be. What’s good for others may not be good for you and you should never shame someone for that because that’s completely and utterly illogical.

I stop reading Lore Olympus for like 5-6 months only to see everything going down the gutter. I have been on board with the making of the webtoon since around 2019 mayhaps, which made it hard to entirely give up on reading Rachel's webcomic. ☕

Past the line its ranting as to what I see bad and why I stopped reading the webtoon.

An unwanted season caused a significant downfall in the main female character's writing. Having Persephone bully a lower-class citizen, make her act bitter, jealous and rude. Girl, if you are so afraid of Hades cheating on you, then there should have been a significant red flag, which appeared back in season 1, as he had cheated on Minthe (albeit emotionally) WITH YOU.

I disliked how every goddess looked the same, yet Persephone was seen as significantly more beautiful. They all genuinely look as if they were made from the same cookie cutter. 🍪

This is a list of reasons why I stopped reading Lore Olympus:

Multiple videos and people have stated the blaring problems within the narrative of the story. I didn't believe it at first, but then I saw how poorly written it was and how their conflicts with the surrounding world were non-existent.

Demeter's writing. As much as I hated her as a kid, now I realise that the love between a mother and a daughter is sacred, which is what the "The Kidnapping of Persephone" was to entail. A narrative on loss and familial love.

Hades became bland, boring and unlikable, which is a shame as I was literally a simp for that man.

The realisation of the fact Persephone gave up her education, her friends, and her mother for a man. We all love the flower nymphs, their dynamic with our precious Kore Cob was sacred, especially since we did not see much of them.

They goofed up my favourite characters, making them all feel one-dimensional and uncanny.

Final words:

So many routes Rachel could have gone to, and she chose to continue on a story that could have finished with season 2 and the wedding.

It is alright if you enjoy reading the webtoon, and adoring the characters and how the story is going. As a person who has been a fan for many years, it is understandable.

Having CDawgVA voice Hades in Emirichu's webtoon video was just the cherry on top, so I understand if that's what sparked your interest. 😉
