Hey beauts! This will be the last time I post anything about these two today.
I want this to be an educating moment, and white/non-queer followers, please don't react in rage. I'm safe and fine. 💛
CW // Racism, Ableism, Anti-Communism
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want you to look upon these messages.
What do you see?
No, I don't see helpless, non-educated people. The first commenter is clearly educated at the surface level!
What I see is grief. Horribly rooted, paralyzing grief. And it makes me so sad.
I've lived and thrived in WSC culture my entire early adulthood. I listened to horrible people about horrible things, and because of my OWN fragility and INSECURITIES, I fell deeper and deeper.
Until I found love. And art. And music. And hope.
After liberating myself (not quite there yet at all, however, it was an eye-opening moment), I've found in recent months by the teachings of Kokayi Nosakhere (links to his site are here) that I must use my white body as a shield and to soothe white people like me and use my PRIVILEGE of communication to help others go on their own healing journey. Not in a white savior way as if I'm going to save racism as a whole, no. In a way that uses my own body to protect others because I want Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color to exist in a world where white supremacy is dismantled. And with BIPOC creators' TIRELESS, and I say TIRELESS efforts of giving free education, it's the absolute LEAST I can do as a white person.
Here's the lesson. If you're white, give money to BIPOC creators when able, and use your privilege as a tool to help decolonize and help others go on their healing journey. Break the taboo of talking about race, racism, and whiteness within your community, and take action when necessary.
I love you all. I'm safe, and I'm PRIVILEGED to be safe. Think about the lives of BIPOC. They don't get a "break" from white supremacy.
Love y'all.

Melvin Gibbs Isn’t Looking Back
For the past 21 years, self-described “explorer of rhythm” Melvin Gibbs has—among many other things—held down the massive low end in the collaborative power trio Harriet Tubman. The effects-laden grooves he concocts for that band, paired with the string-bending guitarscapes of Brandon Ross and the polyrhythmic assault of drummer J.T. Lewis, yielded a sprawling masterwork last year. The Terror End of Beauty, a glitch-infused collision of rock, jazz, funk, and blues, rightly found itself on just about every best-of-2018 list.
But that was last year. On this frigid winter day in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, the dreadlocked bassist is perched in front of a computer alongside drummer, producer, and rap upstart Kassa Overall. They’re in the midst of what they’re calling an “idea day” for one of Gibbs’ panoply of boundary-pushing projects that will surely keep him busy throughout 2019. Among those projects: the jazz-fusion Zig Zag Power Trio with Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid and drummer Will Calhoun, a duo with theoretical physicist and saxophonist Stephon Alexander that explores climate change, a long-awaited album from the Bitches Brew-manipulating Melvin Runs the Hoodoo Down (with the late Pete Cosey on guitar), and the return of his African-based spiritual music ensemble, Elevated Entity. On top of that, Tubman is intent on making a new record in 2019. “Striking while the iron is hot is important because it took so long for everyone to, you know … care,” says Gibbs, laughing.
What’s being cooked up in Overall’s home studio today is potential material for yet another band: Melvin Gibbs Magnum. Also in the Magnum mix are keyboardist Paul Wilson, longtime creative partner DJ Logic, and D.C.-based artist/producer Kokayi, a touring member of Steve Coleman’s Five Elements. It’s apt that Gibbs has Godfried T. Toussaint’s book The Geometry of Musical Rhythm by his side; the surgical focus with which all hands are manipulating the rhythms reverberating from the speakers is akin to a science experiment.
“One of my things is African-American rhythm,” Gibbs explains of Magnum’s beat-driven vision. “That’s where this book comes in. There’s this geometric idea called ‘translation,’ which is when you take a shape and just twist it—it’s the same shape but it looks different because you twisted the direction. That’s what happens with African-American rhythms: They’re all the same, rhythms that came from Africa, but they’ve all been twisted slightly. What we’re gonna do is take this really basic rhythm and we’re gonna twist it. I’m exploring an intergenerational idea—I almost want to make a jazz version of Jay-Z’s 4:44. When he made that record, I was going, ‘Ah! This is the same idea!’” [Read More]

Meet the OC - #7, the last one, Kokayi/Kai
Kokayi is the most recent of my OCs
He goes by he/him and is 5'10-5'11 in height and 20 in age.
He has a power of shields/barriers, being able to create a force field bubble to protect anyone. With this power he ended up saving his parent's lives in a fire, but it resulted in his own injuries.
Kokayi lost his voice due to the fire at the age of 11. And at 16 he got this mask that hooked directly to his vocal cords, allowing him to speak again. The mask cannot come off and displays sound waves whenever he talks.
Enough about design, Kokayi's favorite color is orange and he's a really cheeky guy. A prankster and sarcastic much. Though overall he has a heart and will care for anybody when they are in need.
He would love to answer questions, ask him anything!

#RP and also please stop by and check out the work. Up until June 18th, viewing days are Saturdays 12-4pm. @thenicholsonproject ・・・ Have you seen "Blackness and the Infinite Potential Well" by our previous artist-in-residence Kokayi (@kokayi)? ⚡️ In “Sit:com (sit/calm),” a series of framed works in the style of movie posters and television show advertisements, Koyaki presents familiar imagery and ideas remixed for the current times. Via this cultural mashup, he substitutes black television characters with iconic national and global leaders situating them not merely in an historical context of heroism but paying homage to their lasting impact and sacrifices in the present and fraught political and social climate. You can read more about his exhibition, "Blackness and the Infinite Potential Well" on our website. Come by for a visit now through June 18th. Kabuto Helmet from Japan dated to 1861 on display in the Army Museum in Toledo
This Kabuto helmet belonged to the Duke of Infantado’s collection and is inscribed with the date of manufacture:
“One Day in August in the First Year of the Bunkyu Era.”
This is to say 1861. The inscription also states the name Muneichica, which has been linked to an armourer of the 10th century, Sajo Kokayi Muneichica (938-1014). This is likely to be a false statement in order to make the gift more impressive.

A Month of Islam in America: July 2019
A monthly review of what our open source research was able to find - and it is getting harder and harder to find information as big tech companies delete, remove, de-platform and de-monetize content and content providers who expose the truth. Google/Youtube, one of the worst offenders, took their pro-sharia enforcement to a new level in July:
Google - Youtube say ‘Christian’ is an unacceptable keyword but ‘Muslim’ is okay

Overall, a banner month for the sharia supremacists and their enablers. Some feel good legislation did pass, but it’s only necessary because elected officials continue to import populations that are incompatible with America.
Virginia makes female genital mutilation (FGM) a felony
Pennsylvania Becomes 34th State to Make Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) a Felony
Arkansas makes female genital mutilation (FGM) a felony
Tell your elected officials, and those running for office, to stop allowing mass immigration of people into our country who require new laws to control and contain. If they can’t uphold the oath they took they should be removed from office.
Those unwilling to defend their liberties will lose them. The history of Islamic invasions has proven that over the last 1,400 years.
Please share this report before it’s too late.
