I'm mentally rocking out to that "Kizuna no Kiseki" remix again and gotta say, I went into the theater the other night thinking "this is a cinematic experience" and suddenly a bunch of editorial choices in that last Swordsmith Village episode made so much more sense.

Clearly, they are playing the long game.

Since I have a friend visiting who is a more casual fan of the series, it was actually a very nice review for people like her. Also, yeah, we dressed up. Since I was stopping in after work again I needed another subtle "add items after arriving at the theater to do character homage" closet play. Hence, a nice chance to use some official Shinobu items (and an unofficial, fashion-only mask):

For my friend, we decided on Giyuu items for her, but I didn't actually have that many for her to borrow besides the (unofficial) bow and bracelet I've got, and the Giyuu keychain I gave her to borrow didn’t fit on her bag, and my clothing items that match one half of Giyuu's haori didn't go with any of her clothes, and I didn't provide reference for suggesting she do her hair like Tsutako... so it was very, very subtle Giyuu homage.

In his own words, he's "not like the rest" of the Pillars anyway, so why even represent him for this movie to kick off Pillar training?

Or so we joked, and then she nails the attitude of that sentiment by showing up in black lipstick.

slamming down your ochoko, you swallowed the rest of the disgustingly bitter sake. "another round!" shouted mitsuri, waving her hand in front of the bartender, who looked absolutely worn out. feeling your mind drifting slightly, you barely made out obanai's worried voice, telling her to slow down.

the hashira (except muichiro and shinobu) go out drinking often - which is a coping mechanism you don't know how to feel about - but you're glad mitsuri drags you along to these get-togethers, although you're a lower rank. luckily, you get along with the hashira well. all of them are booming personalities, each one much different than the other - you appreciate the different perspectives and worldviews, despite them ending in bickering most of the time.

"I've got an idea!" rengoku shouts excitedly, "let's play a game." a mischievous smile forms on his face. "fuck that" the wind hashira retorts, starting to get up. "dont be a buzzkill, sanemi!" you push him down again, hands gripping his shoulders. nervously, he glanced back at you, mouth opening as to respond in some way. he'll never, ever admit it, but he's had a crush on you for months now. not that he has to, really, it's obvious to everyone but you. sanemi's always been confident in his abilities to hide his feelings, although most of the time he's very easy to read. plumbing down next to him, you start filling his and your ochoko with sake, to which he grumbles a "thank you", not even looking your way.

unbeknownst to you two, the other hashira are done with the way you dance around each other and schemed a plan, feeling obligated to give a little push. "okay!" tengen started, "how about...hmmm...dare or dare." "the fuck ist that ?" sanemi questions, "you know..." giyuu starts nonchalantly, "like truth or dare, without the truth." both of them exchange fuming eye contact for some reason. "you think I'm stupid, bastard?" sanemi's clenching his fist, trying to get up, but obanai wraps his hand around the pillar's arm, pulling him down aggressively, whispering something about him 'looking like a fucking anger-management needing dumbass'.

it's sanemi's turn. until now, everything's been pretty tame, gyomei ate two spoons of wasabi, tengen asked the bartender "how much for a blowjob?" and giyuu wrote shinobu a letter, containing the word 'penis'. giggling and whispering, the hashira brainstormed a dare for sanemi. "so." tengen clapped his hands. "see that closet?" tengen pointed at the shoji on the other side of the room they rented. "enjoy twelve minutes in there with (y/n)."

sanemi and you turned beet-red, you proceeded to wave your fist in the air saying that you got nothing to do with this and sanemi just started spewing creative curses, but all in vain. gyomei picked both of you up and threw you into the closet, closing the shoji. muffled laughs was all you could hear, until your attention was drawn to the body pressed against yours and the minimal space of the closet. position-wise, this was definitely compromising, sanemi's legs were spread and you laid between them, your head on his chest. his body's so warm, his middle pressed against your chest, breath fanning over your hair, legs trembling. you're definitely dizzy now, the alcohol and proximity getting to you, with the magic of liquid courage, you pushed yourself up, lips barely brushing against each other.

"fuck..." sanemi whispered, you could feel the way his lips formed the word. he brushed his fingers through your hair in a gentle manner, curling it around one. eyes locking with yours, he continued; "I've wanted this...you...for so long. I could thank those idiots." his lips pressed against yours and you didn't waste time, immediately throwing your hands around his neck, bringing him closer. sanemi exhaled against your lips, "me too." you responded, diving into another kiss, nibbling at his bottom lip, asking for permission. he opened his mouth and you started exploring with your tongue, while the pillar let his hands travel across your body, groping your waist, trailing up your shirt. "wait..." changing the position, you put each of your legs next to his hips, straddling him. when you were done, he quickly cupped your cheeks and brought you down for another kiss. giggling, you pecked the corner of his lips, "you're quite needy, huh?" you teased, kissing his jaw next.

"shut up, twelve minutes are not gonna be enough."

promised talking about kny so here i am

writing it means so much to me because as much as it’s (so very loosely now) inspired by the matz spain live (which on the fandom side of things, will always be ever so dear to me) it’s gained such a life of its own beyond wanting to explore the ‘hongjoong workaholic no time for his best friend’ and ‘seonghwa needy affectionate pushover waiting loyally for his distant husband to return’. i wanted to play out that dynamic but in the sense of--what would this look like for real people? what would cause this dynamic to unfold? because while irl it’s a running joke between friends, it interested me to explore it through their characters (aka. diaryjoong and diaryhwa)

it’s given me such a freeing and delightful place to explore the diary characters without burdening myself by sticking too closely to the storyline. Instead I am able to put my headcanons out there and explore them (because i’ve vowed not to write a lore fic until i have the correct diary booklet to base it on. rip treasure). we get little nuggets in the diary booklets (more for some characters than for others), which means we can assemble the puzzle pieces they give us in whatever way we want. it’s almost designed to encourage the sort of creative work that fanfiction is. 

for hongjoong we get that he’s split from his family, he wants to gain notoriety so that they’ll find him and care about him. from that i created a backstory that, though it fits in neatly, is almost entirely my own just through answering my own questions. 

why is he split from his family? he was placed into the foster system.

(why was he placed into the foster system? his mother needed medical help and his father was arrested for arson.)

why does he feel they won’t care about him without fame? he was split from them young, and he internalised the experience of parental neglect. he believes that to be worthy of love and attention he must somehow be of use, that it is not enough to simply exist. 

for seonghwa we see that he craves freedom. that he wants to dance, but does not for fear of unknown, vaguely defined consequences. 

why does he not feel free? he lives in a society that comes with a set template for a successful, well-lived life. and within that society, he’s part of a religion with very strict conventions and rituals. 

what is he so afraid of? punishment, because every time he’s chased that freedom, something bad has happened. 

to me, i always viewed seonghwa’s ‘watching the girl with the be free bracelet dancing like no one can see her’ not as some heterosexual infatuation, but as a very powerful and meaningful metaphor for being closeted and looking on at the community you should be (that you want to be part of), unable to join them and have what they have. a deeply afraid, young queer man, looking on at a completely unafraid queer woman engaging in queer activities as if it’s the easiest thing in the world.

kny is taking those two interpretations and headcanons and placing them in an environment without the cromer and without magic or war and exploring how they would interact without any of those external pressures. it’s character driven in a way that nothing i’ve written before has been. 

i also, as a final thought, want to note that anyone’s personal interpretation of the diary backstories is deeply personal, informed by one’s own life experiences and traumas. neglect is personal to me. fear of repercussions for my identity is personal to me. i truly feel that we should have the space to explore the diary characters as their own characters. make headcanons and fanart and canon compliant fic because the frame it gives us is perfect for exploring our own thoughts and feelings in a way that simple rpf is not (not to say that regular rpf can’t be all of these things, but the diary booklets especially provide such a nice template divorced from reality and thus, any guilt over reading our own experiences into a real person’s image.)

i don’t know, i have a lot of thoughts on atz lore and how the puritanism of main atiny twt has meant that we haven’t been able to explore it the way i truly believe we are meant to. i have more thoughts on each of the other characters, but this is about kny so i’ve stuck to just hongjoong and seonghwa. i’ll probably add the others shortly

the nice guy; next to kyojuro when it comes to being the most wholesome. everybody’s son. kids want to make him their brother. the best dancer of the group. pls, don’t expect him to sing that much. he’s awfully tone-deaf but ppl forgive him because...bias. also, the best in acting. he’s been casted many times in dramas as the lead. 

»—ZENITSU

the unexpected golden boy; the one with greatest jokes and probably the baby out of them all. he ain’t the youngest but he comes off as one. actually the most talented—can sing, play instruments really well, write songs, etc. fans start crushing on him when plays the damn guitar and killed the number, eyes closed really savoring the moment. he looked really cool and badass, everybody swoons. admits that he’s already saving up for his future partner and says he’ll buy them whatever they want. actually joins a blind date variety show. 

»—INOSUKE 

the visual; he has the prettiest face and is always...shirtless. 🤣 usually hides his face in a partial mask and one of the group’s greatest feats is when he lets it drop, everyone goes screaming because he pretty af. one of the rappers and his dance breaks focus on him somersaulting. imagine taecyeon of 2pm. his ig has nothing in it but food and his gym adventures. also, ha s a food vlog! he thinks he’s king but everyone see him more as a cutie instead lol. he still doesn’t know each members’ names and even the name of their grp lol. 

»—KYOJURO

the leader; one smile and you drop. the perfect being of the group. he’s just very jovial and even grannies and 4 y/o kids are having a crush on him bc of how wholesome he is. good at everything but his expertise is being the spokesperson and the assigned dad of the group. when someone’s gonna brawl most likely it involves inosuke and sanemi, he’s the one talking sense to the members. has a habit of winking at the camera when it’s focused at him. 😉✨ his ig’s all him teaching his bro how to sing/dance, etc. has a food vlog w/ inosuke! do 

»—GIYUU

the mysterious type; and stans be screaming at him because of that mysterious emo aura he has. one of the vocalists and definitely writes songs and they’re the sappy, sad af that makes everybody go cri. accidentally the funniest member of the group because of his sarcastic mouth. ppl think he’s just kidding but really, his seriously yet unintentionally being savage. fans faint the very first time they see him smile. def scouted as one of the 2nd MLs whose only role is to get his stans’ heart broken.

»—SANEMI

the bad boy type; he always looks so angry and fierce and that’s why everybody’s screaming for him. one of the rappers and the ultimate main boy for sexy dance breaks. imagine him slowly unbuttoning his shirt as he dances. think of rain. fans love him even more for being a sexy bastard and a closet softie at the same time. his ig has nothing but pic of him, his bro and his dogs. also, his gym workouts that serve as thirst traps for fans though he doesn’t intend it that way.

- he loves lazing in the sun and his brown fur turns golden in it!!!

- is a white short fur with heterochromia <333 she looks so magical omg

- when you visited the adoption centre, she wouldn’t stop meowing and curling herself around your legs

- how could you not take her home!!!!!

- she tries to steal all kinds of food (even yours). please don’t own any plants, she will try to chomp them as well

- one time you came back home and heard some loud rustling from the door. you were terrified that it was a thief but when you switched on the lights, the cat had somehow managed to raid your pantry :/

- loves loves loves cuddles!! will even let you touch her soft tummy and play with her toe beans (only for a while though!)

- you wish she’d stop jumping around and getting into the hardest to reach spots…….

- loves trying out new collars, toys and even outfits!

- grooms iguro a lot and loves playing with him <3

𝐤𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐮

- y’all know the cats that play nice when you’re petting them and then bite your hand immediately after… yeah

- the childhood cat that gives you trauma after it scratched you one too many times

- but very lovable and social!! loves meeting new people and then giving you a smug look as she crawls into their lap

- is not tempted by treats… she will do a trick when she wants to

- siamese, brown to white with a tail that flicks too much when she’s irritated

- this cat pushes your glass of water off of the table while looking you in the eye

- will lay herself over your keyboard when you’re trying to work

- has and will chew up your socks again

- scratches your furniture even after you sprayed it with that ‘no-scratch’ spray

- HOWEVER she will occasionally let you scritch her chin when she feels amiable…….

- tries to groom you sometimes

- jumps around too much for her (and your) own good. has caused the shattering of many things and now you cannot place fragile objects on shelves

𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐤𝐮 𝐤𝐲𝐨𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐨

- the most!! active and happy tabby cat you’ve ever seen!!!!! 

- meow! meow meow meow!

- man i have no idea what you’re saying rengoku but you look happy and adorable so have a treat

- probably a family cat that your dad brought back home (much to mom’s dismay) but he’s part of the family now

- VERY vocal at night no matter how much you try to tire him out in the day… rip 

- will wake you up because! human! it is night time and my water bowl is an inch out of place!

- has the most gorgeous coat ever… really. it’s an envy for many cat owners

- he struts around with his head in the air and demands many pets from you while yowling and pawing your leg

- loves outdoor walks, actually. will attack a dog on sight if given the chance so please keep him on a leash

- give him little booties to keep his paws clean!!!!!!!! he fell over the first time you put them on but now he’s used to it and he looks so cute omg

- very nurturing!! takes to other cats very easily and is a joy to have around if you’re fostering other animals (besides dogs)

𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐳𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐰𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢

- this bastard cat

- hisses if you pat him for too long

- hisses if you don’t give him attention

- hisses while you’re pouring out his food and will NOT hesitate to bite you

- if you touch his paw pads, you can goodbye to your fingers

- i’m thinking……. gray shorthair with green eyes!

- probably a stray cat that you took in (which came with a lot of coaxing, snacks and wrangling) who got into one too many fights 

- he took a while to get used to staying indoors, often hiding in obscure places and was oddly possessive of your sofa

- no, he did not let you sit on it for a whole month

- he’s very protective and territorial! when he’s feeling like it, he’ll rub against you and get into your closet to curl up and scent your clothes (getting fur all over them)

- once, when you had some friends over, you had to lock him in your bedroom because he wouldn’t stop snarling at them

- no one dares to come over to your place after that

- (he’s secretly addicted to butt pats)

𝐭𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐨

- black shorthair that literally appeared in your house one day

- you have no idea where he came from but you let him stay for a few days and he’s never left since then

- sometimes, he wanders outside (while chasing a butterfly or something...) but always comes back in time for dinner

- has the clearest emerald eyes!!

- he’s so quiet oh my goodness. you swear you’ve never heard him meow or chirp or purr once………. you think he might be a ghost cat sometimes 

- moves around silently too. has scared you on more than one occasion when you turned around and found him staring at you, or felt something furry brush against your leg while you weren’t expecting it

- doesn’t initiate affection much but will let you pet and smother him with love!! he kinda just… chills lol

- loves snuggling in the warmest places! sometimes you’ll come home and find a suspicious bump under your covers… lift it and you might find a friend within <3

- hates hate hates collars

- will literally bat at you if you ever try to put one on him

𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐨𝐤𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐲𝐮

- loves water so much its crazy

- you have to lock your bathroom door because he’s somehow managed to figure out how to open the doors in your house

- like, he’ll actually jump into the shower with you 

- you brought him home one day when you found him as a kitten in the rain outside :c (ur the hot anime character now)

- he’s really quiet! rarely meows and prefers to headbutt you (which can be slightly inconvenient, like that one time you were pouring coffee and nearly scalded the both of you)

- his fur is always messy. sticks up everywhere no matter how much you try to brush it

- black fur of medium length and thickness!!! puffs up SO MUCH when winter comes though

- it’s insane, he looks like a ball of soot

- exceptionally fast. when you try to play fetch with him, all you’ll see is a black blur darting back and forth

- easily scared

- you have to be careful when rounding corners or petting him because if he doesn’t expect it he’ll jump like five feet in the air

𝐮𝐳𝐮𝐢 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐧

- if you do not change his collars or outfits at least once a week or brush him daily he will start yowling

- you decided to adopt him after your neighbour moved to an apartment that didn’t allow cats

- unfortunately, your neighbour was also the most outrageously extravagant person you’ve ever met and spoiled uzui too much

- a good chunk of your monthly spending goes to the cat

- will not eat cheap cat food (how can he tell the difference…?)

- occasionally buries himself in the back of your closet because it’s dark and smells like you but please help me i’m entangled in a scarf and can’t get out!

- loves posing for photographs and being cooed over!! if you run an instagram account for him you’ll be sure to get popular really quickly

- he just… knows the camera is there lol

- hates having his nails clipped omg

- he will run around the house just to escape you and will only be bribed by a fancy new outfit or a churu

Obligatory recipe preamble: I hate cooking. I'll try it out if it has a Kimetsu no Yaiba theme, though, and for this episode of Kimetsu Kitchen, we're making Rengoku-san's favorite. Not just satsuma-imo (sweet potatoes), but specifically, satsuma-imo miso soup! There's also a couple bonus Mugen Train related recipes (no, we're not preparing a meal of over 200 sleepy passengers).

Let me start by saying I'm not a huge fan of satsuma-imo. Among sweet gourds and potatoes and chestnuts, I find them irritatingly sweet without being a satisfying sweet. I can eat them, but I find their flavor overpoweringly like a waxy feeling all over my mouth. Anything for Rengoku-san, though.

That also meant making miso soup. I have never, ever been good at making miso soup, even the kind that comes in instant packets. I rarely buy miso because I live alone, don't have that many recipes I like using it in, and the packages tend to be huge and last so long that I can never trust the "best consumed by" date because I leave the package open so long before I can get remotely close to finishing it. However, that meant I was able to experiment day after day with failed miso soup recipe before hitting upon a method I felt confident using for this recipe.

What most recipes will tell you is you don't boil miso soup. Sounds fake, but ok. The other thing you see in miso soup commercials is that they put some of the hot dashi broth in a ladle held in the left hand over the pot, and then stir it with chopsticks held in the right hand. I am talented with chopsticks but not a ladle. I failed at this many times. I suppose I shall never be a Japanese bride. Shufu fail. The way I Gaijin Smash my way through miso soup is to put the miso paste in an entirely separate bowl and stir it with two spoons which I can use to spread out the clumps. Which it pulverized to my liking, I pour it back in with the hot/warm dashi and other ingredients and give it a stir.

For the rest of my meal, I made an Enbashira Haori Salad (with a bed of daikon, and since daikon are huge I later used the rest of it for second attempts at Giyuu & Muichiro's favorite foods), and had shijimi clams with my rice because they are supposed to be good for your liver, so they're the kind of thing Rengoku-san would had encouraged his father to eat. My Rengoku-san cup is filled with water as opposed to liquid fire, though.

Finally, I had grilled salmon picked up as-is from the grocery store both because I didn't feel like cooking another dish and because this was my dinner the previous night. If you follow Kimetsu Academy, you know. You know.

As for the results of the satsuma-imo miso soup?

It would be an exaggeration to say that I shouted "UMAI" but I did, totally legit, take one bite and make a big,

MM!!!!

sound. I was very surprised just how good it tasted! I think what really did it for me was that instead of being any old miso soup, it had a brightness to it thanks to the satsuma-imo, but the miso was what really served the potato. It brought out the savory undertones I really appreciate in gourds and root vegetables that lean a bit to the sweet side, like the saltiness smoothed that overpoweringly waxy sweetness so I could appreciate the wider flavor profile of the potato. I would love to repeat this success!!

However, it should be noted that because single-sized portions of miso soup can be a pain, I would up eating two portion sizes and it was a very yomoya-yomoyada night. That, and I still had half a sweet potato...

Anyway, I checked back on that Taisho Secret in the first fanbook where we first learn that sweet potatoes make Rengoku-san shout "WASSHOI," and found a few other culinary details.

"He had a gyunabe bentou (beef hotpot boxed lunch) on the train. His favoite bentou side dish is salted and grilled tai (sea bream), and satsuma-imo gohan for the rice. When he eats satsuma-imo he says wasshoi wasshoi." Although I don't recall what first it was, that means the beef bentou I had at the winter 2021 collaboration with the Kyoto Railway Museum was perhaps one of the more accurate takes on Rengoku-san's bentou out there. While I didn't feel like dealing with fish, like I said, I still had more sweet potato. So I made satuma-imo gohan! Sweet potato in rice! I don't feel like telling you what English-language food bloggers will do better, go follow a recipe like this.

Thinking back to food on the train, maybe Tanjiro didn't wind up eating any bentou apart from what Rengoku-san stuffed down his throat in the opening theme, but there were a lot of mentions of food with the Kamado family.

Like... making senbei out of old rice cakes! But that would require having a way to grill rice cakes, and like, having rice cakes... so I just bought senbei to snack on instead.

Or... making takuan to steal from your brother! I did still have lots of daikon, after all, why not try pickling it like the Kamado family would? Because I've read this can be a stinky practice, that's why. My kitchen has no window, no thank you. I bought takuan for a side dish instead.

Mountain greens? No thank you, I've already suffered through tara-no-me.

If we turn to some other Taisho Secrets, though, there were a few exclusively printed in the booklet handed out at the first showings of Mugen-Ressha in Japan. To borrow from my translation of them which can be found here...

"What was Tanjirou’s mother most skilled at cooking? Tanjirou’s mother was very skilled at cooking, she made a wide variety depending on each season. She also really liked trying out regional recipes that other people shared with her. Her children’s favorites were sanma-no-soba dumplings and tofu baked in miso. (Translation note: Sanma-no-soba dango is a rural dish from the Nagano area, a decent distance northwest from where Tanjirou’s family lived (see my post about canon geography here). It has a piece of mackerel pike wrapped in a dough made of buckwheat flour.)" Let me say that I appreciate Kie, perhaps even project on her a bit, since I have a mole in the same spot and have feelings toward Tanjiro and Nezuko which can be described as "My Son" and "My Daughter." That, and I've been curious about those sanma soba dumplings ever since learning of them through this Taisho Secret.

...I dislike cooking, so my similarities with Kie end here. However, the photos of the process of making this rural snack in a traditional irori style hearth do strongly tempt me to travel to Nagano just for the sake of finding some Obaasans to teach (as in, do it for me), because wow, that is aesthetic. So that left me to make Tofu Dengaku, that is, baked tofu with a miso glaze. After all, I still had have tons of miso. I don't feel like teaching you how to do it badly, go read a foodie blog. I will say that perhaps unlike the majority of my blog readers, I love tofu. I love eating it (but I don't play cello), and I don't mind cooking with it because even if I get it wrong I still find it palatable. That's good, because there were big mouthfuls of tofu here to go with my satsuma-imo gohan and takuan pickles I picked up from the store. I had bought a nice new jar of turmeric with the intention of attempting takuan, but instead I just stir-fried my mushrooms with it. Mushrooms are totally something Kamado children would eat with their mountain greens, right?

Both the satsuma-imo gohan and tofu dengaku were supposed to be decorated in sesame seeds, but I did not have any. I had pure black sesame seed spread though! Like the fun of eating charcoal without the silly (and dangerous) food-fadiness of it! This also tends to have a waxy, over-powering flavor which I find often needs some sweetness to bring out its nice flavors (like pairing it with honey on toast), or perhaps the saltiness of the miso to help bring out the other sides of its flavors. So that's what those big black globs are. Learn from my mistake, maybe don't put big globs of this stuff on anything. Oh, and the decorative little yellow spot is mustard. You know. Because fancy.

I've had... better dengaku, we'll put it that way.

And the rice? Well, there was mirin in the recipe, which seemed to make the sweet satsuma-imo even sweeter, which I just didn't enjoy much in a rice dish. No 'wasshoi' or 'umai' outta me on this one, but hey, I tried.

Not super detailed but slightly spoilery thoughts below if you ever intend to watch:

Like, yeah, wow, Enmu was a gooooooood character to adapt to the stage. Otherwise Rengoku-san's beautiful solos and the silhouetted parts of the Rengoku and Akaza fight were the best parts. It's funny how much more believable Inosuke's mask gets after you suspend your disbelief on stage, and I Ioved all the energy in how they kept moving the train set pieces around. Senjuro & Shinjuro's performers nailed their roles, Akaza has excellent physical performance which totally sold the difference between how hard Rengoku worked to fight him and how easily Muzan could tear him apart. Child!actor with Muzan!voice worked exceptionally well, and the glowing caretakers of Tanjiro's inner space were looked really good as practical effects (I have a strong preference for practical effects over projection mapping).

But like, this best choice in this whole production was having Enmu saunter into the train scenes, and even rudely (and threateningly) intrude on Tanjiro's peaceful dream space to offer commentary in character in place of the narration. Like, wow. Also, his voice was so, so good for a stage musical, hot dang. He had so much stage presence.
