Finished a project knit from stash. Bought 3,000 yards right after to knit an afghan. Feels like a meme.

The stereotype that fiber artists pick up new fiber arts at the drop of a hat is true because I impulse-bought knitting needles and now I've just did my very first (long tail) cast-on

my choice to learn bobbin lace with cotton thread was 100% correct but I wish I had made that decision in a knitting store and not a sewing store. sewing thread is. so small.

I started a new knitting project! It's going to be a lace cardigan for which Tilly is generously modelling my gauge swatch.
Years ago when I was watching Friends for the first time, I saw Phoebe wearing a yellow lace cardigan and fell in love with it. I tried to find something similar to buy, but no luck. Eventually I said "fuck it, I can knit" and looked for a pattern that was as close as possible to Phoebe's cardigan - and voilà, I found one and started knitting! This is the inspiration:
It's going to look great ❤️
The pattern I'm using is "Marianne" by Rowan, which I will slightly modify to fit Phoebe's cardigan better.

6.) My dolphin sweater. First ever on size 11 needles. Kind of an unplanned project inspired by seeing the yarns for it in the store and a dream I had. Spent a year at the American Visionary Arts Museum, where another one of my sweaters. Available as a T-shirt replica. #sambarsky #sambarskysweaters #sambarskyknitter #knit #knitting #knitter #art #artist #sweater #handknit #dolphin #dolphins #dolphins🐬#aquarium

Have I ever showed you guys how I store my yarn ends? Everything goes in here, even bits that are probably too short to be useful later. It's nice, because I can usually find a scrap long enough to use as a lifeline or stitch holder when I need one.
This has basically everything I've ever made in it. That giant pile of pink is from a hat I made for my mom with super chunky yarn shortly after I learned how to knit. That pile of white right above it is from the poncho I made myself on my 21st birthday (I'm now almost 26).
I like the visual reminder of my knitting journey. Maybe when I finally fill it up I'll make something with the scraps. Or maybe I'll just keep it and add a second tube with new projects!

and yesterday
while i was digging for my chapstick in my purse b/c my lips were very dry

Dug into my stash and pulled out this lovely Three Irish Girls special color way “the doctor!” It screamed at me to be some socks - and excitement of excitement discovered that the color repeat would pool such that it moved around the sock! So cool. Hope they fit 😬

I didn't bother to figure out the final connection because enough is wrong in there that I know I'm not keeping it around but other than the Obvious problems from me just not. understanding lace patterns, I think it's pretty good for a first try?
