S5 Ep 41: Shada Defenseless Against Old Man
Hey guys apparently Twitter got freakin destroyed? Everyone’s coming back to Tumblr, and just in time for me to actually update this blog in my long covid brain fog daze! (a daze which, PS, lead me to think I uploaded this yesterday. LMAO I did not upload this yesterday, you win again, Long Covid) I didn’t feel like breaking today’s episode into 2 parts today. But also, this episode is blessed for having a lot of a card fight in it, which makes these posts a fair bit quicker for me to make.
First off, Mana joins the battle basement, and she does so by just jumping down a hole in the ceiling, onto this pillar, and then onto the floor--actually baffling how she did this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Girl, at this point just fly down.
Tumblr media
Eventually, everyone else arrived in Battle Basement, but they did so through the door that Mana blissfully ignored.
(read more under the cut)
They took a moment to admire their dead friend floating above them, in purple cosplay spandex.
Tumblr media
And then, seemingly miffed that Mahad was getting more attention than him, Seto decided to interrupt the welcome back party before it ever got started.
Tumblr media
Which I dunno, Seto has seen a lot of dead people in his life, his whole village was leveled by like 3 guys with torches, so maybe he just doesn’t care to believe in reincarnated people as cards. Maybe that would bother him and he’d just rather not think about it?
Tumblr media
For some reason, Aknadin also came on this adventure, which is something I didn’t really notice the past few episodes, and being real, it was probably very obvious but my tired ass brain couldn’t quite remember that Aknadin still exists and is a guy who is very much trying to murder the Pharaoh. So of course he’s here. And having a hard time because of the fact he’s killed everyone in Kul Elna and now they are ghosts who are not happy to see him back.
Shada, who seems to take care of Aknadin more than anyone else, was there to save him. Which leaves me to wonder if Shada was Aknadin’s caretaker. Like literally his caretaker, or assistant, or something like that. Because it sure as hell hasn’t been Seto who keeps directing this guy back to bed.
Tumblr media
While he’s there, the ankh keyblade started to vibe.
Tumblr media
And I was like “Oh, is Shada finally going to get it? Is he finally going to realize that Aknadin’s been possessed by evil vibes since last Tuesday or whenever he was attacked by Bakura?”
Obviously no, this is Shada we’re talking about. So instead, he beelines to some abandoned (ware)house to look for some demons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And since I was expecting this to go to nowhere, I was surprised to see this down in the icky basement.
Tumblr media
Like I’ll be real, did not expect Shada to pull through and be this effective at his job. Like damn. The one time we needed him to do his job he actually did it, and he found diabound. Actually a miracle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like either Bakura took all the skulls of his village and stuck them together, or a ghost did it. Doesn’t actually say who assembled the skull art. But I would like to believe that Bakura was the one who gave the Diabound that adorable little kitty cat frowny face.
Tumblr media
And this next part was I think edited by 4kids or whoever is in charge of this season’s translation. Because what I saw was him go “ahhhhh” and then Shada fell forward, and Aknadin’s just holding a whole ass brick. There was no shot of him being beaned by the brick, but just trust me, he was beaned by a brick. Or Aknadin slapped him in the ass with a brick so hard Shada nearly died, it is off-screened so you can make up whatever you want.
Tumblr media
There wasn’t really animation to this sequence so trust me on it, it was goofy, it was great, Love it when Shada got bopped by a brick and didn’t save the world.
Tumblr media
A bunch of ghosts picked up Shada’s body, and then I guess he got shoved into the Diabound statue at this point. Honestly, I missed that somehow. Probably happened at some point in the fighting sections, I was confused, but I still have long covid so I’m always confused. Which honestly makes this show a lot more entertaining when wild stuff happens and I just don’t catch the very obvious forshadowing.
So now that’s happened, lets join in with Yugi and crew in the desert.
Tumblr media
They would be dying but they can’t technically die in the sideways Shadow Realm or whatever this pocket dimension is. Instead they just get very, very hungry, although they cannot actually eat anything. Which does explain why Bakura is so freakin hungry for snacks and ate everything in Kaiba’s blimp when they weren’t looking at the end of S3.
Tumblr media
Then Tristan decided “Hey guys if this is a hallucination, shouldn’t we stop taking it so seriously, and instead look for the Forbidden Memories™?”
And for some reason the person who drew Tristan this episode made him look straight up possessed. Like almost as if he’s a big 5 all over again. I have no idea why this happened, I have no idea why he even spoke so intensely this episode, but Tristan kind of went a little evil and no one cared.
Tumblr media
And this part was mostly for myself trying to remember what the hell is going on. Like, I was forgetful before, but now I am like Pharaoh tier forgetful. Like I fully get why he forgot his own name. Guy died. Like I got the flu 5 months ago and look how forgetful I am. Pharaoh freaking DIED.
But also he did it on purpose to hide away Korbus or whatever his name is. Kronx? Krakus. Zork. It was Zork. No. It was Zorc. It was Zorc with a c to make it copyright friendly. We got there.
Still got it, yeah yeah yeah.
Tumblr media
It is a funny thought that had Bakura not gone to jail, he would have murdered Pharaoh before Seto did it, or I dunno, maybe he would have moved on with his life. But, because he was so freaking pissed off in jail in 3000 BC, his spirit possessed a bunch of people before landing back here in a vengeance hallucination 5000 years later.
Like we don’t know too much about the Bakura of the past, since he’s largely possessed by the ghost of the ring, but damn that kid must have had an ENERGY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
please admire how much Joey has to hunch over just to speak to Yugi in the same frame. Storyboarder’s still got it.
Tumblr media
And I may have mentioned this before but yes, I know Pharaoh’s name, it pops up as a recommended hashtag whenever you use Pharaoh in a tag.
Bro did bring up that if we follow the Seto naming convention, however, Atem would be “Atemo.” Which is very good.
And then Past!Odion, who’s name is COMPLETELY forgotten by my brain, pulled out the millennium scales! We have barely seen these things used in this series, I was excited for something to happen!
Tumblr media
And it was just monster fusion.
I guess he uh...doesn’t know it can weigh your literal soul and kill you in an instant, but it’s fine. We’ll leave that to Shada of the future when he becomes a burn out and calls himself Shadi.
Pharaoh sees his friends fall one by one (except for Shada who, as mentioned, got beaned in the basement by a brick and is currently trapped in the Diabound) and decides it’s time to do the Yami thing and beg for his attacker to kill him during a card game ghost fight.
Tumblr media
So Bakura gladly opens the gate of hell so that Pharaoh can get destroyed by ghosts.
Tumblr media
And we get this hard-to-cap segment where we see into Pharaoh’s mind, where he is protected by the spirit of his father.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kids TV is great. Like if I weren’t so Long Covid I’d dive more into it, but like knowing that your ancestors may (or may not) have cried big ol tears because of atrocities of generations past doesn’t actually make your problems go away. Yet I can understand where they are coming from, where Yami can’t actually change the past, and he does have to do his job as Pharaoh, even though his Uncle ruined their royal reputation which lead to his Father’s death.
Like Pharaoh really is doubting his own ability to be a leader and to use these items, and it is partially his lack of experience, but also because he truly doesn’t think he deserves it. And he does not. He was not voted in. But, he does have to do it, because that’s how the system works in his day and age. And if he does not do it, Egypt falls to bandits and warring countries
Must be difficult to be a Pharaoh, who up until now, only knew Democracy in Japan, and then suddenly has to inherit a Monarchy he fundamentally should not really believe in, despite the jokes I sometimes make in the contrary.
Tumblr media
So because the ghosts of Kul Elna were exorcised (except for Bakura) Shada shluuuurps out of this rock tablet and I had to pause the video and go.
“OK when did THAT happen????”
Because, again, I totally missed that he got shoved in there in the first place.
And mind you, I watch these first with my bro, then I watch it again to do these caps. This was the SECOND time I watched the episode and only just got that. LMAO I miss my brain.
Tumblr media
And then the tablet explodes because without the ghosts, we can kill it.
And no, Shada did not die here, although I truly thought this was the episode he’d die in and become a ghost. or maybe he’s already a ghost. Either way, Shada lives to see another day, although gotta tell you this day was really freakin weird.
Anyway, next episode I guess we’ll see what Bakura does without his spooky tablet covered in skulls, since he only had one pokemon, as far as I know.
And, in the mean time, here is the link to read all of these in chrono order

Note
You know what's kind of silly? I've been into this series for 10+ years, and I've been kinning characters for about that long too, and I only actually finally said I kinned this character around Valentine's Day of this year. What's the reason, you ask. I kept having horrible nightmarish fever dreams about things that happened in the source. Mind you, I've had your standard "is this a memory or just by subconscious" kin dreams before, but these were different... I remembered them every time I woke up and they left me severely discombobulated if not in a little panic. After three or four days I decided to throw caution to the wind and make it official.
Also yes, I think it's time I put it out there, and a special thank you to the person who replied to my last post (it made me smile haha). I'm Ryou Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh. British kitty extraordinare. #🌒

how to win at dreidel: a yugioh hanukkah fic [ ao3 link ]
yugi convinces the kaibas to come to his hanukkah party with the promise of games. it goes as well as can be expected with kaiba and jonouchi in the same room.
"I just don't know if we have enough room in the shop for that many extra guests…" Sugoroku pouts, stroking his chin as he looks over the invitations Yugi is making for his Hanukkah party.
Yugi rolls his eyes. "Grandpa, we've held tournaments here, I think we can manage three more people than the usual group. Right, mom?"
Yugi's mom chuckles. "You can bring whoever you want as long as they help clean up."
Sugoroku huffs. "There you have it. Atem will help clean up, but I'm not sure about these other two."
Yugi groans. "Okay, then, I won't ask you to host. I'll just do it at my apartment, where I can invite whoever I want, how about that?"
Sugoroku huffs indignantly. "Don't say that. You know I love hosting. I just don't like the Kaibas."
Yugi sighs. "I know, but it's the first time since Anzu left that everyone's gonna be able to get together all at once. You don't even have to talk to Kaiba, there'll be plenty of other people."
"Alright, alright. I'm kicking him out if he causes a scene, though."
Yugi rolls his eyes, knowing full well that his grandfather is just as likely to cause a scene as Kaiba is.
Kaiba and Mokuba are the last ones to arrive. Mokuba bursts through the door excitedly, while Kaiba trails behind him a little reluctantly. They're both way overdressed, having a wildly different conception of party attire than the rest of the group. Mokuba is delighted by the fact that no one else is wearing a tie and takes his off, tossing it to Kaiba before strolling further into the shop.
The chatter dies down and Kaiba feels all eyes on him and most of them are not thrilled to see him. Yugi's mother and grandfather, Yugi, Atem, Anzu, Miho, Honda, Jonouchi, Otogi, and Bakura… It feels like walking into a firing squad, rather than a party. Kaiba calmly goes and stands by Yugi, one hand in his pocket.
"When do we play the game?" Mokuba asks, breaking the tension as he hops up on a counter, near Honda.
"That's later," Yugi says. "You two barely made it in time for the candles. Come on, by the window."
Three hanukkiyot have been brought out for the party. Sugoroku's, an old and elegant silver one with colorful jars for oil candles. Yugi's, a small one in a tin that he'd gotten from Chabad when he moved out. Anzu's, an electric Hello Kitty one. Before they light them, though, Anzu pulls out a box and hands it to Yugi. "I got you something."
Yugi's eyes light up as he opens the box quickly, then grins wider when he sees the contents. Nine colorful, interlocking pieces make up a puzzle-inspired hanukkiah. "Atem, look," he beams.
Atem glances, then grins, giving him a quick thumbs up.
Yugi quickly sets up the new one before going through the blessings and getting the candles lit, alongside Anzu. Kaiba, clueless about the whole situation, has to resort to eavesdropping on Honda and Jonouchi of all people answering Otogi's questions.
Most years, Sugoroku tells the story, with occasional interjections from Yugi's mother when he embellishes a little too much. But he insists he has to tell it a little differently each year or it won't be as interesting. Anzu had eventually joined in on correcting him when he got it "wrong". This year, it's the first year after Anzu moved to New York and the first year Atem is there as a separate entity from Yugi. And Yugi is nineteen and plenty old enough to run his own parties. This year, it's Yugi's turn to tell the story.
One year, right after his Bar Mitzvah, they'd tried to get him to take over the storytelling from Sugoroku. He made an effort to mumble through a few bits and pieces before getting too nervous to continue, especially since Anzu had asked him to speak up. Then, when he had actual friends to bring over, he didn't really want to try telling the Hanukkah story in front of Honda or Jonouchi.
This year… there's a determination in how Yugi carries himself. He says the blessings without stumbling, even though he can hear Otogi whispering questions to Honda and Jonouchi. But Yugi is not about to sing in front of everyone he knows, so when Anzu suggests they do sing, he declares that she can lead them in songs if she wants. She gets through one, entirely solo, then stares at the rest of them. "When did this turn into a performance?" she asks, stifling a laugh.
"I just like listening to you…" Miho says, giving Anzu a kiss on the cheek.
Anzu smiles. "You're excused, Miho… but the rest of you better start singing. Come on, Jonouchi, Honda, you know some of these, at least."
Once they get started again, Atem nudges Yugi to encourage him to sing, quietly joining in himself. Mokuba joins in with Jonouchi in wildly off-key attempts, but that corner of the room quickly devolves into laughter as they fumble switching between Hebrew, English, and Japanese depending on the song.
Kaiba stares at the scene, arms crossed over his chest, seeming disinterested, but in reality, he just doesn't understand this type of party. Not just that it's his first Hanukkah party, it's one of the few parties where people actually seem to be having fun, not just flexing their wealth on other rich people.
Once Anzu is satisfied with the number of songs, she gets everyone to settle down. "Yugi, are you ready to tell the story?"
Yugi nods, sitting by the window, candlelight flickering on his face. "Okay. Once upon a time--"
"You can't start it like that," Sugoroku protests, "you make it sound like a fairy tale."
Yugi wrinkles his nose. "A long time ago--"
"That's so generic…" Sugoroku laments.
"Can you let me tell the story?" Yugi groans. "A long time ago, the Greeks took over the land of Judea--"
"Is this a true story?" Mokuba raises his hand, only after he asks.
"Yeah!" Yugi says. "Um… well, this is more based on a true story because I don't remember a lot of historical details, but the basic plot points happened. So the Greeks tried to make people in the lands they took over be more Greek, which was bad for the Jews especially."
Atem raises his hand. "Which ones are the Greeks again?"
Bakura blinks at him. "The Mycenaeans," he says, after trying to remember how the historical timeline lines up.
Atem nods. "Okay. Continue."
"So there was a lot of conflict and the Greeks destroyed the Temple and there was a big war for a few years. It didn't look good for the Jews because we had a very small army and the Greeks were a big empire."
"Why didn't they just use their Ka?" Mokuba asks.
"Um, they couldn't do that, I guess," Yugi says. "I think no one could while Atem was sleeping."
Atem strokes his chin. "No, other civilizations could control Duel Monster spirits, like Atlantis."
"Well, the Greeks and Israelites weren't one of those," Yugi says.
"That one guy had a hammer, right?" Jonouchi says, trying to get them back on track.
"No, he was just nicknamed the hammer, but close enough. So Judah Maccabee lead the army and eventually, the Jews kicked the Greeks out and were able to reclaim their Temple. But there wasn't enough oil to keep the Menorah lit--"
"Why didn't they use candles?" Mokuba asks.
"Well, the Menorah is a special lamp that was lit continuously in the Temple and oil lamps work better for that, I guess?" Yugi scratches his head. "So they had to go get more oil, but it was a far trip, so it would be eight days before they got more oil. But miraculously, oil that was only enough for one night lasted eight days, until they got more oil."
"It sounds like they underestimated their oil to begin with," Kaiba says.
"Even so, it was a miracle because we overthrew oppressors and protected our people and our culture. And that's why we light eight candles and fry foods in oil."
"And play games?" Mokuba asks. "I was promised games."
"I did always wonder how the dreidel fit into all this," Atem muses. "Is it derived from the hammer somehow?"
Yugi glances over at Sugoroku, who shrugs. "Hell if I know how it got started, but it's a good time." He chuckles.
The Dreidel game is where things go wrong. Yugi had only convinced Kaiba to come by promising him a new game to learn and Kaiba, even spending most of the evening trying not to be actually rude, doesn't hide his disappointment when he's presented with a collection of tops.
"The game is… children's tops?" Kaiba says in disbelief, holding a clay dreidel in two fingers.
Sugoroku huffs at him. "They're called dreidels and I actually have a very impressive collection. I gather them from all over the world. That one was a gift from a friend in Morocco."
Kaiba sets it down.
Mokuba clambers onto Honda's shoulders to get a better look. "So is this like Beyblades?"
"No," Sugoroku says immediately.
"What's Beyblades?" Atem asks.
"They're tops with spikes and you spin them and they crash into each other and break into pieces and it's awesome," Mokuba says.
"Oh that sounds fun," Atem says. "We should play that, Grandpa."
"If you break any of my collection, I'm going to start breaking skulls," Sugoroku says, glaring pointedly at Kaiba.
"Yugi, explain the rules of the game already," Kaiba says, ignoring the glare he's receiving.
"Okay!" Yugi takes one of the dreidels and holds it up. "See, each has four sides. Nun, gimmel, hey, and shin. It means--"
Atem picks up one of the dreidels. "This has different letters on it."
"That one's from Israel; they use pe instead of shin there. As I was saying, it stands for 'a great miracle happened there', but in Israel they say here instead."
"Does that make it better for the game?" Kaiba asks intently.
"No, it just has one different letter." Yugi sets it aside to avoid confusion. "So the game goes like this. We each get a few candies to start and each round, we put one in. If it lands on nun, you don't get anything. If it lands on gimel, you get the whole pot. Hey means you get half of what's in the pot. Shin means you put one more piece into the pot. When you run out, you're out of the game."
"That's it?" Kaiba blinks. "It's all based on chance."
"Yeah, that's the great thing about it," Jonouchi laughs. "This one spins the best, I remember it from last year."
Kaiba frowns, then begins experimentally spinning dreidels to see which ones are better.
Yugi glances at Anzu.
"Let's all use the same one, just to make sure it's all fair," Anzu says.
"Okay, we're using this one," Jonouchi insists.
"It's not any better than the other ones…" Yugi rubs his temple, but puts the rest of them away.
"No, that one's the best spinner," Sugoroku chimes in.
Atem takes the dreidel from Jonouchi silently and gives it a spin. It rotates around the table for almost a minute before landing on gimel and Atem smirks. "I think I'll like this game."
"You better not be cheating with the Puzzle…" Kaiba glares.
"At this point, the Puzzle is just a flashy accessory, Kaiba," Atem purrs. "You know that."
"Let's play!" Mokuba bangs a fist on the table. "I'm gonna win."
"Alright, alright," Yugi holds up his hands, then starts passing out the candies. "Mokuba, you're the youngest; you can go first."
Mokuba takes the dreidel. "Two questions first. One: the win condition is getting all the candy, right?"
Yugi nods.
"Two: can I bet more than one piece per round?"
"Erm… I guess so, but I don't know why you would…" Yugi rubs the back of his neck, trying to figure out what Mokuba is planning.
"Okay!" Mokuba shoves all his candies into the pot and hands the dreidel off to Kaiba. "Don't let Jonouchi get ahead of you, big brother." With that, he retreats from the table and hops up on the counter by Sugoroku to spectate.
Kaiba eyes Mokuba curiously, then spins the dreidel, landing on nun.
The game goes like that, with a fairly normal spread of results from the dreidel, except Jonouchi lands mostly on gimel and hey, Atem only lands on gimel, and Kaiba keeps landing on nun and shin. After a few rounds, Kaiba is getting low on candies and his hits the table with his fist. "How do you keep doing that, Atem?"
Atem shrugs. "I'm very good at topping."
There's a fair bit of snickering at the table.
"Put the Puzzle away," Kaiba demands.
Atem chuckles and hands it over to Kaiba. "There, you see now, if you keep losing and I keep winning, you know the Puzzle has nothing to do with it."
"Don't be such a sore loser, Kaiba," Jonouchi chides. "Mokuba's out and he's never been happier."
Kaiba bristles.
"I'm still gonna win, don't get it twisted," Mokuba laughs.
"Sure, sure, I'll humor you," Jonouchi chuckles. "My turn, right?" He gets another gimel. "You know, Kaiba, I think you're just not in the spirit of the game, that's why you're losing."
"I'm not in the spirit because it's pure luck," Kaiba bristles.
Atem gets another gimel. "It's definitely a skill. Jonouchi knows how to top better than you."
Yugi elbows Atem for putting fuel on the fire.
"What? It's true," Atem protests. "Spinning tops is a skill."
Kaiba's stack of candies runs out the next round and he snarls in frustration.
Jonouchi chuckles. "Imagine that, both the Kaiba brothers out before anyone else. I knew there was a reason I liked this game."
"Yeah, because you're a pathetic little jackass who relies on luck and chance to get by," Kaiba stands, pointing a finger in Jonouchi's face.
"At least I know how to have fun, unlike you!" Jonouchi stands up as well. "Having a stick up your ass doesn't make you a better duelist, y'know!"
Anzu grabs Honda and stands him between the table and the windowsill with the candles on it. Miho and Ryuji follow suit get up to back away from the fight that's very obviously about to break out.
"Settle down, you two…" Yugi says. "It's just a game and we'll share candy at the end regardless of who wins. It's okay, Kaiba."
"It's not about candy, Yugi," Kaiba growls, keeping his eyes on Jonouchi.
"Yeah, it's about this guy thinking he's better than me and learning that he can't win every game by being filthy rich!" Jonouchi sneers. "If he didn't have so much money, he'd be worthless as a duelist."
"That's it--" Kaiba vaults over the table and tackles Jonouchi.
Atem pulls Bakura out of the way at the last second to make sure he doesn't get hit by a stray kick.
"Hey, stop--" Yugi protests. Kaiba and Jonouchi are already on the floor, rolling back and forth to try to pin each other down. "You're gonna knock over the candles!"
"I got that covered, Yugi, don't worry," Honda says, giving him a thumbs up.
"Oh." Yugi blinks, glancing over at him, guarding the candles for fire safety. "Um. Thanks." He turns back to Kaiba and Jonouchi. "Come on, guys, it's Hanukkah…"
"You said--" Kaiba grunts as he takes an elbow to the stomach. "--it's about a war."
Yugi puts his hands on his hips. "Grandpa, do something."
Sugoroku strokes his chin. "I mean, he's not wrong…" he muses. "Kick his ass, Jonouchi."
"Maybe they just need to get it out of their system," Ryuji suggests.
"Atem, help me. You grab Kaiba, I'll grab Jonouchi."
Atem nods, stepping forward.
Mokuba spots his chance. With most of the group focused on the fight or trying to break it up, he pulls a beanie out of his pocket, dashes forward, and scoops all of the candies into his hat before running back to the counter and standing up on top of it. He holds the stolen candies up triumphantly. "I win!"
Yugi and Atem manage to separate Jonouchi and Kaiba and Kaiba looks up at Mokuba. "What?"
Atem bursts into laughter once he puts together what just happened. "Well-played. He knew you two would end up fighting and took the candy while everyone was distracted."
Kaiba rubs the back of his neck, then gives Mokuba a thumbs up. "Good job, Mokuba." He straightens his coat out. "I hope you have extra, Yugi, because he is not going to share any of that."
"That's definitely cheating…" Jonouchi pouts, crossing his arms.
Mokuba looks over at Sugoroku and gives him big, pleading eyes.
Sugoroku sighs. "Nowhere in the rules does it say Mokuba can't do that, actually. It's a fair win. Now get off the counter."
Mokuba hops down and sits on a stool, triumphantly munching on his candy.
"It's actually fitting because the Hasmoneans couldn't win in a direct conflict with the Greeks, so they had to use more clever tactics," Sugoroku says. "See, it all ties together."
Yugi drags a hand down his face, but can't help but laugh. "You know what. Fine. We'll go with that."

She typically wears other accessories, i.e. chokers, rings, bracelets, etc, that are more customized to every outfit!
Overall Personality: Very competitive and passionate about whatever she throws herself into, and especially Duel Monsters. Really plays up the big bubbly, excitable and determined personality, especially out in public, she can't let it be known that anything bothers her. Is a very quick thinker and loves getting to strategize and piece things together for herself. Very loving and kind, especially to those she truly values as part of her life and would literally do anything for those she cares about or for people in need, though this self sacrificing nature can also be equally as self destructive for herself. She's also incredibly stubborn and doesn't give up on the matters she sees as worth it. Has a harder time being truly vulnerable around people; hates anyone seeing her cry or letting people know that they've gotten to her. Is definitely a little feisty when she wants to be. Backstory:
Born to an Olympic Equestrian and an actress.
Her older sister was diagnosed with her illness when Kat was about 3.
Grew up trying to keep her sisters spirits high and the two having this beautiful and inseparable bond with each other, especially in the face of their parents marriage troubles they did their best to keep from the girls, and their mothers narcissitic and controlling tendencies.
Grew up with her cousins whenever they got to visit and was especially close to her cousin, Sonia, they were best friends.
Played a very early, early prototype to Duel Monsters, before it was ever Duel Monsters, in the hospital rooms her sister frequented.
Lost a lot of her family within a year of each other; the Harmonia sinking, then Mason passing away in a car accident, then Cecelia and then Evangeline. Would be adopted by her godparents, who the will dictated were to take her in the event anything happened to her parents; the agreement was decided as the best move by both them, Maximillion and Wes.
Moved to San Francisco with her godparents, Maddox, her nieces and Max when Industrial Illusions properly started up.
Got to beta test Duel Monsters for her big brother and competed and won in the very first tournament.
Continued the tournament circuit, making time for her family as much as she could.
Met Kaiba at a tournament and they quickly became dedicated rivals and her goal has been to beat him some day, as he was the only person she had never beaten before.
Is with Max when he gets the news that Kaiba has been defeated and she's more upset that somebody beat him before she did than anything else; though, there is definitely quite a bit of surprise when she goes to try and figure out who this Yugi kid is and finds he himself has an Item like the one Max has as a fake eye.
Goes to Duelist Kingdom to watch, since she was barred from competing, and begins to uncover more than she could have ever imagined.

Mass Effect Trilogy Tag
Lovingly borrowed from a great Mass Effect blog @whiskynorocks ya'll should go follow them they're rad as hell and have excellent taste
Been a fan since: I'd heard great things about the series since 3 came out but I never had the opportunity to play it until this year. I can safely say I'm pretty hooked.
Favorite game of the series: 2, without a doubt. There are things I loved about 1 and 3 but 2 stood out to me especially with the writing and how I developed my relationships with my crew. I wasn't thrilled about joining forces with Space Terrorists, but at least I was able to walk away from TIM at the end of it.
MaleShep or FemShep? FemShep, hands down. I do have a BroShep save, but he's not as...invested as FemShep is.
Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer? Colonist or Earthborn for FemShep, Earthborn or Spacer for BroShep
Paragon or Renegade? Heavy on the Paragade. I usually try to go mostly Paragon, but there are some motherfuckers that need slapping
Biotics or Tech? I like Tech but I go Biotics more often than not
Favorite class: Oh Vanguard full stop. Give me a shotgun and biotic charge and I'm up on the front lines gunning down assholes like I was born for it
Favorite companion: Garrus, but also Tali, Wrex, Legion, Kasumi, Zaeed, Vega, and Liara when she didn't sell my body to terrorists
Least favorite companion: Miranda (strictly just due to ability, tbh), Ashley (I saved her a few times, I get that she has a lot of emotional baggage and the way that the Alliance treats her is extremely wrong, but I just can't like her ya'll. I'm sorry. I've tried.)
My squad selection: Who wants to third wheel with me and the Space Kitty? In all seriousness, it's usually Shep, Garrus, and Tali in 1 unless I switch Tali for Kaiden a few times. Or Wrex if I need more fire power lol. In 2, soon as I get Garrus, I tend to keep him around for everything save Tali's trial since I like to bring Legion to that just to be a troll. Mostly, it's just me and the Dream Team. Vega third wheeled a lot in 3, though lol
Favorite in-game romance: Shakarian for the long haul, baby. But Talibrations is also extremely adorable too. My BroShep is hella bi so he's romancing Kaiden after losing Ash in Virmire and he's Damaged™ so maybe Kaiden can fix him
Other pairings I like: Tali/Reeger (that dude was so in love with her it's amazing), EDI/Joker, Wrex/Bakura, Nyreen/Aria, Cortez/Vega
Favorite NPC: Anderson, Councilor Sparatus because he's a dick but he comes through for you in the end, Saren, Nihlus for the five seconds you get to know him, Kirrahe, Nyreen Kandros, Primarch Victus, Aria (she's very hot), the bartender in the Asari bar, Biotic God Volus, Padok Wikks
Favorite antagonist: SOVEREIGN. Hands down, he is the most terrifying thing you encounter in the games. He's just so other, so alien, and so...mechanical. His lines are delivered with this matter-of-fact contempt that is so perfect for a sentient machine. He has no motive other than he just Is. And I love that. Harbinger never shut up, but Sovereign knew when to start and end a conversation. He said his piece and he said nothing more. And that is exactly how you introduce an Eldritch Being.
Favorite mission: Noveria. I loved meeting Lorik, and how the whole thing spirals down from dirty business deals to all out creep-fest when you encounter the Rachni. And the Rachni Queen's voice acting was stellar. She was just sympathetic enough to warrant pause from outright killing her and terrifying enough to consider it.
Favorite loyalty mission: Its a tie in between Garrus and Kasumi. Garrus for how it ties into his relationship with Shepard and just how their death truly affected him and how it reflects on his character (I have only allowed him to shoot Sidonis once, and it was not a good feeling). And Kasumi because dressing Shepard up is always a good time and Kasumi is a sassy, classy lady who lost someone dear to her and giving her that closure she needs makes me happy for her. She deserves pretty things. She's also cute as hell.
Favorite DLC: Either Citadel, Omega (for Nyreen), or Overlord because David's story made me cry. I'm also autistic and the story was handled very well with Shepard being so furiously angry that the Paragon Interrupt was to pistol whip Gavin was very cathartic for me.
Control, Synthesis or Destroy? 100% Destroy. I do not and will not trust the Walmart-brand Alexa that is the Catalyst. That little asshole is dying with the rest of those genocidal machines.
Favorite weapon: The Talon Heavy Pistol. Baby can pack a punch.
Favorite place: I actually really love the beauty of the Ardat Yakshi monastery. I hate that the Reapers destroy it and turn it into someplace so nightmarish but it really was such a beautiful building and felt really peaceful beforehand.
A quote I like: "You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."

thinking about kitty!Levi falling asleep in his s/o’s lap during a movie and feeling his soft purrs against your chest... 🥺
//hybrids (kitty levi)
He really didn’t mean to. This movie is one of your favorites, and Levi was a little curious as to what it was all about.
But he kept looking at you, the screen's light casting shadows flickering across your face, and your undivided attention towards the movie. None for him.
Levi's tail flicked as he bumped his head to your shoulder, a purr pushing through his throat signaling his displeasure.
Without a word, you opened your arms for him to clamber into.
Levi set himself in your lap, his knees folded beside your leg, and pushed his cheek to your chin. He was scenting you, as embarrassing as it was, but it felt good.
Mine, the action said, and your soft sigh communicated your agreement. Your fingers wound themselves in his fluffy hair, and combed back.
"Mm," Levi hummed, breaking through the soft purring. He blinked soft and slow at the TV, then let his eyes close for a little longer than that.
His purrs fade away gradually, too much to take notice of. Sleep, heavier than the blanket you were both cuddled under, hovered over him. His eyes didn't open after that.
He didn't mean to, really. But, you didn't complain about having Levi curled up in your arms, breathing slow and deep with a look of utter peace on his soft features.

@marik-dominant-prominent:
xx
They had been having such a nice time.  They were starting to become rather comfortable acquaintances.  So why?
His hand was holding onto the Bandaid Ryou had extended to him.  A simple hello kitty design on the bandage.  Just like the ones he had put all over Bakura after the stairs.  From his other hand several drops of blood rolled down his hand and dropped to the floor.
The only thing that changed in his current expression is his breath becomes shallow.
"I-"  He felt a choking feeling in his throat.
He was hiding a lot.  He was hiding so much.  How would he even begin to come clean.  He didn't want to ruin this?
But Ryou deserved to know.
But if it hurts him is it right?
You know it is,  you know the truth is always right.  So decide if you want to do whats right.  Because there's no saving this either way.
It felt like his skin was crawling.  He opened his mouth and he spoke before he could really think it through.
"I don't know where to start...  none of it can bring you comfort... so tell me where you want me to start and I'll tell you the truth."
Ryou has suspected that something has been going on for a short while now. Every other time he meets up with Marik, he acts as if there’s something wrong, or he circumnavigates certain words and phrases. Still, the man is his friend, so he’d done his best to ignore it, chalking the behavior up to stress or anxiety.
He’s got a lot of that going on, so he’s not really in a position to judge.
But now, as they stand in the man’s kitchen - for the second time, he notes, because they’re usually at Ryou’s apartment - and he holds the box of bandages that had been sitting in the first aid kit... everything begins to click into place.
Marik had already known about his black outs, and had said as much back on that first night they’d spent together. The one he tries not to remember the first half of. The Egyptian had seemed incredibly understanding about it, but coupled with the strange events as of late, it’s a damning piece of evidence that something else has been happening, and Ryou has been very pointedly left out.
He’s had enough. The pink bandaids have blown the lid off of his slowly-festering frustration and confusion.
“I’ll tell you the truth.”
This single admission has anger welling up, almost closing his throat. He’d been right. He had actually... hoped that he wasn’t.
“He’s been here.” It’s not a question. Ryou knows this much is true already - it has to be. The box he’s holding starts with twenty and currently holds ten. He’d had nine of them on his body when he woke up that day. It feels like it’s been years, but it’s really only been a couple of weeks. The last one missing is between the blond’s fingers. “You know him. You let him in your house... Why?!”
Even now, he finds himself concerned. Not just about the lies of omission, but about the man committing them. He plucks the bandaid from his hand and he peels it open, snatches the man’s injured appendage in his own. Carefully, he positions it over the cut and sticks it down.

Chapter 5: Off to Duelist Kingdom! Part II
All right, maybe choosing to wear a skirt wasn’t that smart, thought Anzu as she and the others were sitting in their hidey-hole.
It got colder any minute and she wonder how Maja, who wore a mint green skirt with over-knee socks, could fair on this icy night.
She stood up and rubbed her arms.
“Hey, Anzu, stay down or we're busted.”, reminded her Honda.
“But it's freezing out here. I can't sit still.”, she said shivering.
“In another few hours, the sun will rise. Hah!”, joked Honda.
Angry she turned to him and waved her fist around.
“That's not funny, Honda!”
“Will you guys zip it!”, interfered Maja, and took something out of her backpack. “Take the blanket Anzu.”
“What really? What about you?”
Maja waved a hand and cuddle Sadiye closer to herself who had already fallen asleep. Well, she was still a ten-year-old, it was probably past her bedtime.
“I have my personal heater, don’t worry.”
With a thank you Anzu wrapped herself up in the blanket and sit down again. She admitted she was a bit cross with Maja and Sadiye who had told her things she didn’t want to hear, but…it was really nice of Maja to give her the blanket.
It was then that a door opened. They saw Ryou Bakura walk out of it and lean on the railing.
“Look, isn't that Ryou?”, Anzu whisper-shouted to Honda. Maja also looked curious over.
“Ryou Bakura? You mean Ryou Bakura from school?”, asked Honda.
“What do you think he's doing here?”
“Uhh. I guess he's in the tournament.”
“Is he a friend of yours?”, wanted Maja to know.
“A school friend, yes.”, answerd Anzu.
Maja eyed him up and down and then grinned.
“He reminds me of a fluffy kitty…adorable!”
Anzu and Honda sweatdropped at it.
Tumblr media
“I’m sooooo full.”, whined Sehrazat holding her belly.
That was so not a good idea to eat all that food.
Kihana had to fight a burp. She was a bit green in the face.
“That’s the first and last time we do this.”, proclaimed Kihana. “My stomach hurts so much.”
Sehrazat could only agree.
The two best friends were out of their room in search of Yuugi and Jonouchi. They together with Afya agreed that they needed to win the boy’s trust first before they could tell them all about Afya and Yuugi’s lodger in the Millennium Puzzle.
If he didn’t know about the pharaoh already.
They would wing it as they go, was decided.
Kihana open a door that would lead them to the exterior of the ship since they hadn’t found them inside.
Luck was on their side it seemed.
They did find the boys. Yuugi was sitting at one of the tables, while Joey was standing beside him.
“Hello again, Yuugi and Joey.”, greeted Kihana for them as they walked up to the boys.
“Oh, hey, girls, how it’s going?”, greeted Joey smiling back.
Yuugi and Sehrazat looked shyly at each other, he turned red, while she was bashful.
“Aren’t you two just adorable?”, cooed Afya in their minds.
“Shut up, Gran-Gran!”
The ancient queen laughed just.
“All good, with you guys?”, asked Kihana. Joey said same, so she asked another thing: “So what were you up to?”
“Nothing much, just enjoying the cruise, and you ladies?”
“We were actually looking for you guys. Sehra wants to know all about your Duel against Kaiba, Yuugi.”, told them Kihana.
Not only the boys blinked, also Sehrazat. That wasn’t really the reason, they searched for them, not that Sehrazat would mind hearing about it.
Sehrazat gave Kihana a look, but her best friend gripped just her shoulder and Yuugi ones and pushed them nearly to the rail.
“Why don’t you two talk there and I will tell Joey about our adventure in the Europa Championship.”
“You really will?”
“Of course, Joey!”
The blond boy blushed and couldn’t help to celebrate internally. A pretty girl who was also a duelist wanted to talk with him and share her experience with him.
It was awesome!
Meanwhile, our two short duelists were clearly shy with each other. Sehrazat played with her fingers and Yuugi rubbed his neck nervously.
“For the love of Hathor, child, Kihana gave you a chance to talk to your crush.”, explained Afya in their minds. “Take it! Ask the boy about his duel and form a connection.”
The blue-haired girl didn’t know what to say and gulped nervously. After what happened with…HIM…she was insecure about boys. Yet, she didn’t think Yuugi was like that…and if even Kihana played wingman for her…maybe she should give it a try.
So she took a big gulp of air and smiled at Yuugi. The boy blushed seing her pretty smile, wondering how a girl like her could have any interest in him. He may be taller than her, but he was short for a male and his baby face didn’t make girls swoon over him.
“Would you like to tell me about your duel with Kaiba, Yuugi-Kun? I would like to hear it from you.”, she said, batting her long eyelashes at him.
Yuugi just turned redder, nonetheless nodded rabidly. His heart was nearly leaping up from his chest.
He would do anything she asked if she keep looking at him like he was someone special to her.
Kihana and Joey grinned seeing how Yuugi started to tell Sehrazat in all the details about this duel with Kaiba and how she seemed to swoon harder after every sentence. Sehrazat asked him then to elaborate something more and Yuugi felt in heaven. No girl he know was that interesteded and know so much about Duel Monsters, that he could talk so freely with her like that.
After a few minutes to two of them stood really close to each other, looking unafraid into their eyes, laughing and talking about Duel Monsters’ strategies and cards.
Both felt a connection forming, an understanding, that they had always longed for.
“Nice going, Hana-Chan.”, complimented Joey. “This two would have never talked with each other if not for you.”
“Why thank you Jonouchi-Kun.”, grinned Kihana.
Already the designer in her imaged what Sehrazat’s wedding dress should look like and what colors for his tuxedo would fit Yuugi best.
“Ahh, we meet again.”, said suddenly, someone.
They turned and saw-
“Ah, Haga.”, said Yuugi.
Kihana and Afya both felt annoyed that the boy showed up. It was going so well with Yuugi and Sehrazat! Sehrazat herself was a bit sad that her conversation with Yuugi stopped, hopeful they could talk more after Haga left.
“I see you found some new friends. Even famous ones.”, continue the Insekt-Duelist. “A shame you couldn’t participate at the world championships because of a technicality Faizan-San.”
Sehrazat waved her hand.
“Well, at least Kihana and I could join Duelist Kingdom. This is more important than the world championship.”
Haga nodded.
“Ahh, the evening wind sure feels nice. So, did you trade for any good cards, Yuugi?”, he turned to the tri-colored-haired boy.
“Nah. I'm gonna duel with the cards I brought along with me.”, answered Yuugi.
“I figured as much. You used the Exodia cards in your duel with Kaiba, right? Those are the strongest cards of them all.”
“And really rare.”
“Could I possibly see those legendary cards?”
“I don't see why not. Just be careful with them. Okay?”
Yuugi moved back to the table to get his cards, Haga following. Sehrazat crossed her arms and joined them. She mouth a thank you to Kihana for giving her a chance to talking with Yuugi and her best friends winks at her. Yuugi rumages through the golden box which hold once upon a time the pieces of the Millenium Puzzle.
 “Here!”
With a smile, he hands Haga his five Exodia cards. That’s the moment Sehrazat feels a tingle in her connection with Afya.
“What’s up, Gran-Gran?”
“The Insect-Boy gives me some weird, as you call, vibes! Be careful!”
And Afya should have the right feeling. After admiring the Exodia cards and admitting that he couldn’t find a strategy till now to defeat them, Hago throws the card overboard.
“I fucking knew it!”
Yuugi, Joey, Kihana and Sehrazat look shocked on how the cards fall into the ocean below.
“No!”, screams Yuugi, trying desperately to reach them.
Haga just laughs and walks away with the words: “Now there's no one who can challenge me.”
“Why you-!”, shouts Joey.
“What a cockroach!”, hisses Kihana.
“My cards!”, cries Yuugi. “Those were the Exodia cards that my grandpa gave me.”
“I'll get 'em!”
With this Joey jumps over the railing and into the ocean. The three others are shocked.
“Joey, don't! Joey, where are you?!”, calls Yuugi.
“Are you nuts?!”, adds Kihana.
“Yeah, you can’t do it alone!”, say’s Sehrazat.
Before Yuugi can ask what she means and Kihana screams no you don’t, already Sehrazat jumps overboard to help Joey with the cards.
“That was heroic and dumb at the same time.”, lectures her Afya, as Sehrazat shivers because of the cold ocean water.
“I know, but these cards seem important to Yuugi! What else could I have done?”
“You here to help Sehra?”, ask Joey and swims over to her.
She nods determinedly.
“I promise you, We'll get them, Yuugi!”, shouts Joey up to the ship.
“Joey, Sehrazat, they're not worth drowning over!”, cries Yuugi shocked.
He can’t believe that his best friend and his new friend have really done this. But why? He doesn’t understand.
Kihana seems ready to jump herself down, as she screams at them: “Sehrazat Nefertiti Faizan and Katsuya Jonouchi, you both came this instant back onboard or so help you Ra, I will get you myself and it won’t be pretty!”
“Not till we have all of Exodia!”, contradicts Sehrazat and plucks a card from the ocean’s surface. “I got one, Joey!”
“Me too!”
“Joey, Sehrazat swim back to the ship!”, pleads Yuugi.
The two ignore him and pluck each other another one. Joey thinks about how he can help finally someone he cares about and Sehrazat how she is glad that she can give Yuugi back Exodia.
“That’s the last one.”, she yells cheerily. She has three and Joey has two. That are all pieces of Exodia!
“Now come back up, before I kick your ass!”, growls Kihana angrily.
Sehrazat and Joey would like to do that, but that’s when a strong current drags them both underwater
Yuugi and Kihana yell the name of their respective best friend and jump now into the ocean too. They each grab them.
“You are both crazy, you know that?!”, yells Kihana.
Suddenly they hear voices calling out for them.
“Big sister, Sehrazat!”
“Yuugi, Jounouchi!”
Kihana thinks she is dreaming. On the ship is her little sister with Maja and an unknown boy and girl.
“Anzu!”, calls Yuugi to the girl.
The unknown boy unrolls a ladder down to the water.
“Are you okay?”
“Grab ahold!”, tells them this Anzu.
“Hurry!”
“Anzu, Honda.”, say’s Yuugi in disbelief.
After they swim back up to the ship and climb the ladder our four who took a dive have to catch their breath. Anzu, Honda, Maja, and Sadiye stand worried around them.
“That was close.”, shudder Yuugi. “I'm sure glad you two guys showed up. Really glad.”
“We're a team. We'll all stick together.”, reminds him Anzu.
“We'll always watch your back.”, adds Honda.
“Thanks a lot, you guys.”
“Sadiye Kisara Schariq and Maja Sayuri Maamoun, what in the name of Isis and Osiris are you doing here?!”, questions Kihana, and seems ready to explode.
“The same as our new friends, Anzu and Honda.”, answers her sister nochchanlety. “We four are a team and we will help you.”
“You will get so grounded when we get back home, Sadiye and I will not be sorry for you!”
“Big sister!”
“Why did you take the swan dive anyway, we just saw how one after the other jumped into the water.”, ask Maja wondering.
Sehrazat holds her three cards up and Joey follows her example with his two.
“Because of the Exodia-Cards!”, she says.
“We got them all, Yuugi!”, tells Joey happy.
“You guys are crazy. Totally crazy. But thank you so much.”
Yuugi takes the cards back from them. It is then that Joey turns sad and shakes his head.
“You should thank Sehra more, she found most of the cards. Alone I wouldn’t have found them all.”, gritted Joey his teeth in frustration.
“That’s not true, Joey!”, argues Sehrazat back.
The blond boy just shakes his head.
“It's always this way with me. I'm never able to help anybody. Not even my own sister, Shizuka.”
This shocks Honda, Anzu, and Yuugi, while our four girls just look confused on.
“Shizuka?”, repeats Yuugi.
“Really? You have a sister, Joey?”, ask Anzu to be sure she heard right.
“You guys didn’t know?”, wonders Maja.
They shake their heads.
“That sounds straight out of a drama series.”, mumbles Sehrazat and wrings her hair out.
“Our parents divorced years ago, when we were kids.”, explains Joey. “She lives far away with my mother. My sister's had really bad eyes since she was born. Eventually she'll go blind.”
Yuugi gives him an empathic look.
“I'm sorry.”
“Thanks, Yug'. She sent me a message. The doctors told her that the time has come. Soon her eyes will be impossible to repair, even with surgery. But there are specialists who could perform an operation now before it's too late. They could save her eyesight. But... there's no way I can pay for the operation. I have to win. For her! Winning in the Duelist Kingdom, and getting the prize money, is the only way I can help Shizuka!”
“We'll both do our best, Joey!”, promises Yuugi. “You, for your sister. And me, for my grandpa.”
“It seems we all here are fighting for someone precious.”, musses Sehrazat with a sad look and grips her Millenium Item.
“Did Pegasus take someone from you too, Sehrazat?”, asks Yuugi carefully.
He knows this look. It’s the same when he thinks about how his grandfather lost his soul to Pegasus.
It’s Kihana who answers him.
“Pegasus wants all the Millenium Items it seems. With his he took Sehrazat mother’s soul and we both are here to get it back. That’s why we searched for you two in the first place. We had a feeling you would be in the same situation and become our allies. All because of your Millenium Puzzle.”
The Puzzle and the Fragment seem to glint in the same moment.
“Allies, I think we should be friends.”, say Anzu passionatly. “We all are here to fight against Pegasus. With friends on our sides, it will be better.”
“Nice said, Anzu.”, praises Honda.
The four girls look at each other and then nod.
“Then how about we go to my and Kihana’s cabin? We need to dry and you guys need a place to sleep.”
Jonouchi you have your own cabin could be heard from kilometers.
Tumblr media
Afya had a small smile as she looked around the cabin.
Sehrazat, Kihana, and Sadiye were sleeping peacefully in one bed, while Maja and this new girl Anzu shared the other. Jounouchi and Honda had each taken one of the couches for themselves and were having a snoring contest it seems and little Yuugi was curled up in the armchair.
It looked like “her kids” and the new ones felt comfortable with each other. She was happy that they made friends fast.
Softly humming she stroked Sehrazat’s blue locks.
Maybe with their new friends, they would have even more of a chance not only to get Amira’s soul back, also little Yuugi’s grandfather’s soul and the price money Jounouchi needed for his little sister’s operation.
That’s when she felt how the air was humming with energy. With old ancient magic. The kind she used herself.
She closed her eyes, yet didn’t stop her humming.
The once queen of all Egypt had wondered when the spirit of the Millenium Puzzle would talk to her.
They both had sensed each other when Yuugi and Sehrazat first met.
“So you decide finally to show yourself?”, she couldn’t help but use a huffy tone. She had tried early to talk to him, but he had refused to answer her. How rude! “I wondern for a second if you would stay in the puzzle for all the journey.”
The spirit of the Millenium Puzzle or as he called himself Yami admitted he did feel a bit bad that he hadn’t talked to his follow spirit early. He was just so surprised to encounter another soul like him, that he needed to think for a while. It didn’t help that the presence of the spirit of the Millenium Fragment was so…so familiar to him, even if it didn’t make any sense!
He had needed time for himself.
Yami had his hands in his pant pockets and looked at how the female spirit seemed to check on the new friends of Yuugi and also Yuugi and his friends too.
She seemed like a mother, looking after her flesh and blood to make sure they were all right.
Something deep in him twisted painfully, and a feeling of bittersweetness washed over him.
He wonders why?
That’s when his fellow spirit turned to him, fixing him with a regal expression, fitting for a great queen and orange eyes so sharp, that he had a feeling she could look right through him.
She was really beautiful.
Her long dark blue hair reminds him of the night sky and her unique orange eyes were not from this world. She had more womanly curves than her young partner, yet he could make out the muscles she had.
This was someone who could fight physically with any man and he had a feeling she would end up victorious.
Meanwhile, Afya had similar thoughts running through her head.
Little Yuugi’s darker half, was taller than him, his hair a bit wilder, and his eyes the color of the most beautiful amethyst. His face was serious, sharper, but oh so handsome.
Like the gods had sculpted it.
If she were a young girl she would have probably swooned, but she was an ancient spirit, a queen nonetheless, she swooned because of no one!
Even if such a fine specimen was before her.
“I apologize.”, he addressed her with a sinful-sounding voice, which made her shiver lightly. Since Sehrazat awoke her soul from her deep slumber, no one had gotten such a reaction out of her. What was happening? “I should have talked to you before, but I admit. I was quite in shock meeting someone in the same situation I’m in.”
Afya put a hand on her hip, fully aware of how the other spirit seemed to check her shapely body up thanks to her movement as she had intended.
Was she flirting?
Yes.
She couldn’t resist.
“You mean trapped in a Millenium Item, bonded to a young teenager and with no memory?”, she nearly purred.
Yami balled the hands in his pockets into fists. Her honeyed voice got to him and was it his imagination or was the room filled with energy?
Sinful, erotic, energy.
Well, he wouldn’t complain.
You didn’t meet such a beautiful woman any day.
“So you are just like me, what is your name?”, he asked her, making his voice drop more, delightful in seeing her shiver a bit and batting her long eyelashes at him.
“Afya was the name my descendant gave me. You may call me so…?”
“Yami.”
“Yami.”, she repeated purring like a cat and now he had to control his shivers.
By Afya triumphed glint in her outwordly eyes, he failed miserably. Well, two could play this game.
He gave her a smirk, which clearly affected Afya, and asked: “Descendant? Do you mean the young girl who wears the Millenium Fragment? I thought you don’t remember anything.”
“Apparently I was once a powerful queen of Egpyt.”, she started to explain, playing with a lock of her hair. Yami got the desire to run his finger into these dark blue locks. “Before I died, my soul was put into my Millenium Item and one of my daughters became its keeper. For thousands of years, her bloodline kept it safe, till it was Sehrazat’s turn. When she put it on, my soul awoke and here I am now.”
“I slept for such as long too.”, Yami’s eyes wander over the sleeping Yugi, and a little smile forms. “When Yugi solved the puzzle, it was like a was reborn into this world. I know my roots lay in Egypt too. Probably all Millenium Items are from there.”
He heard how Afya hummed, then the other spirit walked closer to him. Now they stood before each other.
She cocked her head in a flirty fashion, showing him her long elegant neck, and reached with one hand out to him.
Afya rubbed his shoulder and then slide with her hand his arm up and down.
If he was a weaker man, he would have gulped and turned red, but he wasn’t so he raised an eyebrow at her and wrapped one lock of her hair around his finger.
It was really soft and smooth.
“I have a feeling you want to make a point, beautiful Afya.”, know he was the one purring and Afya felt her knees going weak.
She licked her lips and had to keep a winning smile from her face as she saw how Yami followed hungrily this motion with his eyes.
“Mmh, we both are from Egypt, I was a queen once and we both feel the connection that the Puzzle and Fragment have with each other.”
“If you are pointing out the obvious that I was the pharaoh to your queen, my dear, then you don’t need to waste your breath. I already suspected it, when you told me your story.”
Afya narrow her eyes at him and stopped rubbing his arm. She came really close to his face, their nose barely touching.
“Then why didn’t you say so before and play dumb?”, she hissed offended. Was he only playing with her? “We may have been married once, but I am no one’s plaything.”
“I didn’t think that and for making you feel this way I am sorry.”, he apologized sincerely and put a bit of hair behind her ear. “I admit, this is new and exciting. I thought we would keep on flirting. I greatly enjoyed our banter.”
Yami had to fight the smirk at her bashful expression.
His queen was tough, he felt it in his bones, yet she was with him like a freshly fallen-in-love girl.
Mmh, his queen…
He indeed liked the sound of it.
Before she could answer him, they both heard a sleepy voice calling for her. It was her young host and descendant…which meant she was also his? Did he and Afya have children? He needed to ask her the next time they were alone.
“Gran-Gran? What are you doing?”
Seems like Sehrazat, that was her name if Yami remembered right,  couldn’t see him.
Afya gave him such a hot look, that he felt his knees go weak. That look promised more than delightful banter…he couldn’t wait.
“Nothing, child of mine. Do you want me to sing you a lullaby to fall back asleep?”, Afya asked her.
Something like a yes came from Sehrazat. Afya squeeze his hand, till she walked and sat then down beside her hikari, to sing her to sleep.
Yami decides to go back into his puzzle.
He wouldn’t disturb the two ladies with his presence.
Also, he had a lot to think about.
